A Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Living in a country that provides access to great health care, one would expect the United States
to have a sufficient supply of medical professionals such as doctors. After all, the country has a
booming population and is home to many respected institutions with driven and compassionate
medical students. However, in the March 3, 2015 edition of The Washington Post, Lenny
Bernstein addresses a relatively new problem in healthcare. In the article, U.S. Faces 90,000
Doctor Shortage by 2025, Medical School Association Warns , Bernstein successfully creates a
real sense of this crisis through his use of logos and diction to address the expected shortage of
medical doctors. Throughout the article, Bernstein utilizes logos by citing a report done by the
Association of American Medical Colleges. Bernstein addresses, The United States faces a
shortage of as many as 90,000 physicians by 2025,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bernstein is very familiar with medical and healthcare terminology, much more so than the
average person; however, his language is familiar enough for an educated reader to follow
along. With his experience as a blogger, he uses casual language to explain the economic side of
the doctor shortage. Bernstein addresses, The organization called on Congress to raise the federal
cap on slots for medical residents at teaching hospitals by 3,000 annually, at a cost it estimated
would be about $1 billion per year. Most people don t know what a medical residency is and how
it works, but Bernstein s language indicates that a residency, which is a part of a physician s
training, involves the government s money and the limited number of slots at a hospital. This helps
the reader better understand that job and educational opportunities are still limited for doctors, thus
contributing to a doctor shortage. The use of diction helps Bernstein effectively explain the
economic side of the anticipated

Introducing Systems Theory, Marriage And Family Therapists
Introducing Systems Theory
Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) in training are tasked with helping a family work through
conflict and arrive and more intimate and interdependent relationships, which can seem daunting or
maybe even terrifying. However, the interaction patterns that show up in families can find some
context and clarity for a therapist who knows systems theory. Systems theory suggests that
individuals cannot be understood in isolation from their family context because families create
relational processes and generate a sequence of interactions and behaviors in order to maintain
dynamic stability of the self regulating family system (Nichols, 2013, pp. 58 59). How does this
general systems theory help an MFT guide a family in therapy? In this paper I will take three
systems theory principles and apply them to a movie in order to demonstrate how it provides a
language and context for MFTs, thus making it an essential tool in family therapy.
I will begin with a brief synopsis of Demme s movie, Rachel Getting Married (2008), and its
primary family characters. Next I will discuss three key principles of systems theory and use the
movie characters interactions as examples for each corresponding principle. In the conclusion I will
share my learning experience in doing this assignment.
The Movie Synopsis
Rachel Getting Married (Demme, 2008) is about Kym, the estranged daughter, return home to her
upscale Connecticut family for her sister Rachel s wedding after

Use Of Pressure In Ender s Game By Orson Scott Card
With the advancement of technology new complex jobs exist. Who else to do the jobs, other than
humanity s own youth? The pressure for humanity s youth to succeed is greater than before, In
Ender s Game, Ender is always under pressure, and it takes its toll. Orson Scott Card uses the
character of Ender to demonstrate the pressure that human society puts on its youth to succeed
today, through Catharsis, Imagery and Symbolism
Catharsis is used multiple times to show the stress and pressure on Ender. Usually Catharsis in the
novel is the result of Ender s Stress
When Ender confronts Colonel graff, and Mazer Rackham, after discovering his simulation was
real Ender yells:
You tricked me into it! He was crying, He was out of control (Card 342) ... Show more content on

Catharsis is shown, as multiple yelling moments and multiple emotions are shown.
Unlike the previous scene, when Ender was yelling, in this scene, Ender is worn out, and while
Colonel Graff points out that some people want him dead, Ender replies:
And they want you dead. Fine with me! (Card 343)
As a nine year old child, Ender should be happy and energized, but what the reader sees through
the novel, Ender gets less like a child and the pressure from before, even though relieved, does still
take a toll on him, showing that pressure the human race puts on it s youth to succeed, even when
taken off,can still take its toll.
Through catharsis, In the novel, Ender s Game, Orson Scott card shows the reader real resemblance
through major pressures in the novel, and in reality s schools and lives.
Unlike catharsis, Imagery makes the reader sympathise for characters, and experience situations.
Orson Scott Card uses imagery to focus the reader s attention to details and exhaustion that Ender
feels.
In this scene, Ender is explaining negative points, about leading an army, not sleeping much and
having to bear losses. Orson Scott Card

Encryption and Its Uses in Communication
Encryption is a very important aspect of our daily lives. Everywhere we go and everything we
do now involves some sort of encryption technology. From turning on our cars to using a card
access to gain entry to our workplace, encryption is there. More specifically, encryption in
communication is a vital component to everyday life. Without encryption, our lives would be
much different and unsecure. According to Oded Goldreich (2004), There are 2 main types of
encryption: One is called Symmetric key and the other is public key encryption (pp 375 376). The
Symmetric key algorithm uses the same cipher for both encryption and decryption. Conversely, the
public key algorithm requires 2 separate keys. One of these keys encrypts the text or... Show more

Even common household devices such as refrigerators now have WiFi access. Thermostats also
can be controlled via the internet now. As you can see, technology is ever evolving and
growing. It doesn t seem to be slowing down at all. Encryption is a great tool that is protection
the assets of many companies. Referring back to an access card, companies rely on these to
protect their buildings from unwanted access. Encryption definitely protects digital assets too.
Many software products that we use are protected by a license or authentication key. This key is
a special encrypted phrase that grants access to the software. It can prevent people from stealing
software without paying for it. While some companies are viewed as being greedy, in all
honesty it does cost time and money to develop software and products that people want to buy.
These products need to be secured in the interest of the company because it is in human nature to
be dishonest, disloyal, and to be a thief in many cases. Going back almost ten years, companies
were looking for ways to prevent game stealing. A pioneer in the gaming industry, Valve, took
action by suspending 20,000 users who had stolen their software (GameSpot). While this was an
example of how encryption was used to catch thieves, encryption can also be used to prevent
unauthorized access. This is the case in many industries such as the

Spina Bifida Research Papers
Spina Bifida in School Aged Children

Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect that is present at birth. It is thought to be caused by a folic acid
deficiency in the first month of pregnancy. This disease can be either symptomatic or
asymptomatic. There are three types of Spina Bifida including: Spina Bifida Occulta, Spina Bifida
Meningocele, and Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele. The main treatment for Spina Bifida is surgery
that occurs right after birth to close the spinal opening and could include several more surgeries
throughout the child s life.
Spina Bifida Occulta is usually asymptomatic. It could be undetected for years, and only found
via diagnostic procedures for another diagnosis completely. It may also present as a sacral
dimple or a small patch of hair on the infants back at birth. People diagnosed with Spina Bifida
Occulta can lead a normal life without interference of the disease. There is usually no treatment
needed for this form of Spina Bifida. (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2014)

Prison Population Around The World
Samantha Talmo
Professor Wisz
8 August 2016
Research Paper Prison populations around the world are continuing to grow every single day.
The nation s jail population flows like a torrential river with upwards of 12 million individuals
moving in and out of institutions annually (Lyman, 167). The population is continuing to grow in
jails because of the growth in the crime itself. It is debated whether or not nonviolent criminals
should be given jail time. There are other punishments that could be given to criminals that have
not created violent crimes, for example serving community service, being on house arrest and
speaking to a parole officer. Another question that society considers is whether or not in the long
run will society itself benefit from nonviolent criminals not receiving jail time. Society would
benefit if nonviolent criminals were punished in other ways than jail time. Society would benefit
since overcrowding in jails wouldn t be an issue, tax costs would be reduced, and recidivism
would decrease as a result. A big issue in prisons are overcrowding, it was previously stated that 12
million inmates that around the world that is in prison. Even after considering that that is the
average of all prisons put together there is still a huge amount of people living in one prison. Jails
now hold some 730,000 people in custody, more than triple their population in 1983 ( Speiser). If

Comparison Of Antlers And May s Lion
The killing of animals has been ubiquitous almost since the creation of the world. Some animals
are killed as a sacrifice to a greater being . Other animals are killed for food. Finally, some
animals are killed for sport, that is, human leisure. Two stories in the literature world that are filled
with the theme of killing animals are Antlers, by Rick Bass, and May s Lion, by Ursula Le Guin.
These archetypes have many different views on the animals and their life. Ultimtaely, these stories
show how humanseek comforting purpose, ultimately, salvation from nature, specifically through
beautiful creatures called animals through saving them or killing them.
In Antlers, there is a grotesque dichotomy between worshipping animals and killing them. The

It is as if the people get their salvation from this lifestyle of killing animals. Now, there is one
woman who is a rebel in a way her name is Suzie. She doesn t like any form of hunting (285). She
makes an interesting comparison of cows which have a predestinated life and wild animals, the
majestic creatures her friends are killing for enjoyment. She explains how wild animals are
different , how they enjoy life and that it is cruel to go in after them and kill them (285). She is
definitely an advocate of saving the animals.
In May s Lion, a story about a mountain lion is told by a woman who knew May. The older
woman was saying this story to a young child. One day a mountain lion came into May s yard
this was very unusual in the parts where May lived. The woman said how May had loved
animals and how she had lived with and looked after animals all her life and how she had also
earned her living for years as a nurse (297). May thought the mountain might be sick, so she put out

The Contributions Of Colonialism And Its Impact Of...
My aim with this essay is to describe colonialism, more specifically the Portuguese Empire and its
impact on the colonized, on culture, on history and most important on the colonizer with a fulfilling
understanding of the concepts and ideas created. I will emphasis on the returnee s history, as well
as, focusing on the similarities between the Portuguese returnees and the millions of refugees that
exist nowadays. Nevertheless, I will stress about colonialismin the current days, highlighting how
colonialism is currently inserted in fashion. Therefore, relating colonialism and globalisation inside
fashion industries, I will demonstrate that by giving some examples used by Malcolm Barnard,
such as Tommy Hilfiger and Adidas.
Colonialism involveds the subjugation of one civilisation to another, it is an act of domination
towards a culture, civilization or people . Colonialism can be several times with confused with
Imperialism, but the two differ in some aspects. Colonialism is about relocating populaces to new
territoriesy and maintaining the same political system from their country of origin. While,
Imperialism is how one country imposes their power over another. (Kohn and Reddy, 2006)
History is full of examples of colonialism, where nations have expanded their reach and control over
other nations and ing themselves by taken ing over adjacent territories and countries and settleding
its people on thatin these new territory. In the fifteenth century, colonialism suffered

Essay On Treasure Fleets
My favorite scholarly pursuit to date is in a category of its own, combining most of the
examples in the given prompt. It began roughly three years ago when I first read about the
Spanish treasure fleets of the early 1700s in one of my history books. The subject was just
barely brushed upon, but it was enough to spark my curiosity on the topic and I decided to look
up more information. After reading several books and individual articles, I focused my intended
research on a single fleet: the 1715 treasure fleet. Consisting of eleven ships, the 1715 fleet had
been laden with gold, fine china, and other valuables. Spain was in desperate need of funds due to
the War of Succession, so the large treasure fleet was not an uncommon sight. In what could be
considered an either brave or spectacularly stupid move, the commander decided to remain in

had attempted to find the San Miguel not long before his turn to piracy. I believe even now that the
ship may have sunk somewhere east of Amelia Island off the coast of Florida. A current
expedition, however, is still searching the Nassau Sound. I cannot put enough emphasis on just
how much this pursuit sharpened my research skills and expanded my interest in both the
environment and history. One bit of information led to another, and I learned more from this
research than I probably would have in a normal high school classroom setting. Many of the
things I learned will actually apply directly to my major in environmental science as well, which
makes all of that research even more valuable to me. The fact that I had a lot of fun in the process

Mandating Paternity Leave
As the world is emerging, parental roles are experiencing a shift. It is very common to have
professional companies and organizations offer mothers paid time off. Typically, this maternity
leave is at least six weeks. New fathers, however, don t often get this same luxury, which is
unfortunate. In order for a father to better support the motherof their child and/or personally care
for their child, a father should be granted paid paternity leave. Many argue that not mandating
paternity leave is serving men and their careers far better than if the policy were to be established.
The opposing side believes that if the creation of paternity leave becomes, mandatory, it will do
more harm than good especially for the men who don t become fathers.... Show more content on

Men present can be a great deal of physical and emotional support towards women after birth.
About women experience postpartum depression, which is a type of depression that follows
childbirth and can be triggered from hormonal changes, fatigue, and mental adjustments to
motherhood(SГ©journГ©). Mothers often need the support of their spouse during that time,
because it can lead and help mothers or co parents in their well being for an easier transition into
motherhood. A woman s body goes through a lot right after childbirth both emotionally and
physically(SГ©journГ©). Women begin adjusting to the new roles, the new bodies, and the new

fathers around can also help the stress of the woman because she doesn t feel overwhelmed with
doing everything on her own and can take care of herself while the father takes care of the house

Inaccuracies In The Waiting Room
Documentaries like The Waiting Room are an accurate representation of the field most of the
health science students want to go into. Watching this documentary makes you take a step back
and evaluate how you have treated people if you have even been in a situation where you had to
make a trip to the ER. Documentaries like this are made to expand the public s views of medicine
and the medical field, and to also show the struggles the employees in this field face.
In many dramatic medical television shows you never see the struggle to fit everyone into the
hospital. The lack of beds in The Waiting Room results in patients being put into the hallways.
This leads to congestion in the ER, and makes all of the employees lives just a little bit harder.
The lack of beds is also being influenced by the influx of people coming into the ER. The more
people coming into the ER, for things that someone with insurance would go to a doctor for, takes
up beds. Not that that is the sole reason for there being a lack of beds but it is certainly one of them.
Majority of people, with insurance or not, treat the ER like a urgent care, or a well clinic. That is

uninsured, even with the ACA, and after they go to the ER they are told a doctor will follow up

many time it can take a month or more for those doctors to get to patients referred to them. This is

Methods Of Aggressive Accounting By Issuing Financial...
Facts
Several companies have performed methods of aggressive accounting by issuing financial
statements to exaggerate their value. Either over inflating revenues, assets or cash flows, or
understating any debts and expenses are examples of this type of fraud. These accounting swindles
allow companies to have an efficient public appearance to investors and potential creditors.
Nevertheless, according to a recent journal article from (Chen Huang, 2013), these deceitful
activities led to abnormal stock returns and unfavorable open market purchases and repurchases.
The statements from the financial disclosures were so unclear, yet seemed too good to be true.
Consequently, a wide number of corporations received complaints from investors under the regards
of the published financial statements. Nonetheless, these inaccuracies, whether reported or
unreported, led corporations to go into debt with both creditors and investors.
One major instance of this occurrence is the Enron Bankruptcy. In the case of Enron Corporation,
the accountants hid most of its debt, expenses and liabilities from the world. Some transactions and
forms of debt were also not reported at fair value. Accountants and managers considered these duties

Extensive Reading And Intensive Reading
10. Extensive reading vs. Intensive reading
Many studies have been conducted to distinguish extensive reading from intensive reading. For
instance, Uden (2003) states that extensive reading imitates reading in the first language in the
way that its key elements are purpose and pleasure. It is based on easy material that is chosen by
the learner to build language fluency and. ER allows learners to process language faster and
improves comprehension. While, intensive reading refers to the careful reading of the material with
the goal of complete and detailed understanding. Moreover, it is associated with the teaching of
reading in terms of its components skill, i.e. distinguishing the main idea of the text, reading for gist.

14. The relationship between reading and writing
Over the past years, reading was the main focus rather than writing. In Britain, for example, in
the eighteen and the nineteen centuries Foggart (cited in Tribble, 1996, p.11) pointed out, it is
desirable that the majority should read in the way they can be given instructions and can be
educated into a particular ideology, writing on the other hand assume the giving instructions and
the formation of views about society . These two skills are viewed as separated skills because
reading is passive and writing is productively one; however, these two language skills are
complementary and can be closely developed. As Johnson (2008, p.07) believes that the
relationship between these two skills is that reading helps learners become better writer, by making
them in contact with the rules of grammar, consequently they develop the language structure,
grammar and increase their vocabulary; hence, reading in the writing classroom is understood as
the appropriate input for the acquisition of writing skill since it is believed that reading passages
will somehow function as primary model for which writing skill can be learned, or at least inferred

Summary Of Pollastek E. Al s Study
Summary: The central focus of Pollastek et al s (2012) study was to determine why elderly
drivers are more likely to be involved in vehicular accidents at intersections than younger
experienced drivers. As a means of data collection Pollastek et al (2012) tested the scanning
ability of elderly drivers at intersections through a series of different scenarios. Each scenario took
place in a simulated environment, testing the scanning ability of elderly drivers where they were
instructed to go through 1) a four way intersection, 2) turn right at a T intersection and 3) proceed
through an intersection. Pollastek et al (2012) found that elderly drivers fail to properly scan for
potential hazards while proceeding through intersections. Pollastek et al (2012) also found that by
providing video feedback the participants in the training group performed similarly to younger
experienced drivers.

The strengths of Pollastek et al s (2012) study lie in the methods used for data collection. By

something greater than what you are, whether it s religion or communism, or capitalism or
something else, but it must be something above what you are (Gaines and Lowe 52). When applied
to the narrator of his subsequent work, A Lesson Before Dying, it would seem that this principle is
reflected in the one thing Grant Wiggins initially holds above himself. I refer, of course, to Grant s
anticipation of the day that he will leave Bayonne in order to start a new life elsewhere, ideally in

However, as Grant recounts the events of the trial in a degree of detail that suggests more than mere
inference, this issue becomes more ambiguous. From Grant s description of his aunt and Miss
Emma s thoughts, perceptions and behavior in the courtroom, to his exacting portrayal of Jefferson
s story, including details as specific as the type of wine, Apple White (Gaines 4), which prompts the
shooting, as recounted by Jefferson through Grant in third person, to the roughly two pages of
direct quotation that present the defense s closing arguments, we are left with such a complete
account of the trial that it is virtually impossible to believe Grant is not embellishing upon his own
assumptions. Yet with the closing lines of this chapter, Death by electrocution. The governor would
set the date (Gaines 9), the credibility of Grant s implicit prediction is authenticated, leaving the
reader with the impression that since the conclusion implied at the beginning is valid, and since the
premises seem plausible, that these premises must at least be grounded in a degree of truth. From
the outset, the marked tendency for Grant s prognostications to ultimately transpire

Phineas Gage Dualism
In the discussion of the human mind and how it actually works, there are a few distinct
philosophical concepts that many believe to be an accurate diagnosis. Three of these views are
Dualism, Physicalism, and Functionalism. They each portray a different view on how the mind
functions in some cases physically or even mentally and separate from the actual human brain.
perfect way to exam these approaches is to take an in depth look at the interesting case of
Phineas Gage. Gage, born in 1823, was a railroad construction worker in the northeastern region
of the United States. On September 13th in 1848, Gage was working on a railroad project in the
state of Vermont and was filling a whole with explosive gunpowder and was packing the power in

These three Body Mind views present possible ways to examine the accident that Phineas Gage
suffered an entire change in personality from. Physicalism presents the best argument for
explaining the Gage case. If everything is physical it is certainly logical for the personality and
thought processes of a human to change after enduring an entirely physical injury. Physicalism
suggests that everything about human beings can be explained just by looking at the pure
physical processes of the body and specifically the brain, so clearly it presents a sound argument
for why Gage endured such a drastic change in who he actually was. Gage according to dualism
may have had the same mind, but according the physicalism certainly did not have the same brain
and therefore, to quote his coworkers, was no longer

British Parliament in the Late Agrarian Transition made me think of the comparison it has with
the United States Congress. Congress is made up of two chambers commonly known as the House

My Perfect Life Essay
This is the story everyone knows; the story that has been heard. This is my name . You look at
me now and see me as the girl who has it pretty nice. I live in a simple house nothing too fancy. I
have nice clothes and a comfy bed to come home to every night. I have a loving dad and a family
who cares about me. This is what everyone sees. Everyone sees me planning a future. Most
people know that i want to become a math teacher and that i want to live in Charleston. I m seen
as the girl who always has good grades and is good with school. Everyone assumes i have the
simple easy life and believes i haven t been through anything difficult. I only let people see what
i want them to. I try to hide all the struggles i go through. I try to make it seem like the worst
thing that s ever happened to me is getting into a fight with my friend or me and a boy not
working out but i ve seen much worse. The world has taught us to hide our pains and failures.
We are all trying to fake the perfect life; but the truth is everyone is going through something or
has been through serious pain. The Bad A few months before i was born i went through my first

Global Health Research Paper
The reasonable question posed is if the movement of people, food and manufactured goods has
such a bad impact on our health, should we take steps to reduce that movement? I don t believe
that is a realistic answer. With international travel on a far greater scale than imaginable a hundred
years ago, reducing that flow now would be near impossible.
International trade has been a demand for many decades. People will continue to trade. Instead,
focus should be on the health inspections of the items we are trading. Getting countries to

One problem a policy like this will face is trying to globally enforce a standard of quality with
countries that are not cooperative. Refusing to receive shipments that do not pass that standard is
an option. Moreover, a better quality of life globally will help as well.
The global community can t expect products to have been properly grown without bad pesticides
and grown absorbing good water from countries that have a water quality issue. If the water issue
for these countries isn t fixed, then their products become contaminated. Helping the countries
come up to standards first could ease the process of them implementing and adhering to strict global
standards of quality in regards to their exports.

resistant to pests, drought, and flooding is not only a neat scientific development, but almost a
necessity since we now see evidence of a global shift in climate change. Natural or sped up by

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has decided to construct a new school at the beginning

formal report to determine potential sites that the school can be built on in which official bodies

were utilized to assess land suitability in Trinidad with several criteria provided by the Government
along with relevant data sources. Several areas throughout the western coast of Trinidad with
potential/ideal sites were discovered.

Montessori Class Reflection
These two past weeks we have been doing a lot of lecture series in class, which I enjoy a lot, I
feel like I learn better when having a power point presentation to see, read, and listened to,
instead of just talking about something or reading it. This past week we also had our first paper
due, our thoughts and beliefs paper which we had time to talk about what we wrote about with a
partner. I thought this was a very insightful way to see how other people interpreted the same
assignment, and even though we both answered the questions we may have answered them in a
different way or a different perspective. So far in class we have gone over some general theories of
play, some of which I had already learned about in my developmental psych class, but others that
I had not really hear of before. One of the surprising things I learned was about was the
Montessori schools. Up until this class I had a negative connotation towards Montessori schools
because one of my friends went there for kindergarten through fourth grade and she felt like they
didn t properly prepare her for public schooling. She was behind in most of her classes, and didn t
feel like she could easily catch up. But after learningthat the Montessori schools teach
independence to children I realize how she has often acted more mature and independent from
people her own age. Although she was not top of her class she was able to catch up and graduate

Disney Movies Advantages And Disadvantages
Alternatives
Disney s tentpole strategy has been fairly successful throughout the Disney Studios lifetime. Even
though this strategy worked in the past it may not be the best strategy moving forward, as there are
advantages and disadvantages to this strategy. One advantage of this strategy is that the tentpole
films attract movie going customers that think of the movies more as an event rather than just a film
they want to see. A $200 million movie is more likely than a $20 million movie to have elements
that appeal to moviegoers to have special value for them. , said Horn. Just as with any bet, there
could also be a risk and disadvantage. If the film fails, they would both have to take the fall instead
of just Disney Studios. When our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having five independent sub studios also creates its own set of issues. Directors and executives
not being on the same page is one of the issues that has the potential to be the most costly. In the
case of Inside Out they made beneficial changes to the movie late in the process after executives
viewed the cut of the movie. In this case, executives working with sub studios benefitted the
finished product, however, it creates and environment in which if executives and directors have
different views of where a movie should go or how characters should be portrayed it could lead
to a complete teardown and reshoot of a movie which would waste time and possibly risk
missing a release date of a major tentpole movie. Another challenge that arises when sub studios
are involved is division of resources, which could lead to lower quality movies by not having all
creative minds working on a particular movie. For example, Disney live action has had the
biggest percentage of failures versus all of the other labels. Marvel and Lucasfilm have had
tremendous success in creating universes in which their movies can take place and add on to.
This can be seen in the Star Wars universe or the Marvel universe. The creative minds that
developed the ideas to base these movies could be beneficial to the Disney live action brand but the
separation of resources keeps collaboration of creative minds from happening.

A Brief Look At The Historical View Of Conditional Election
A brief look at the historical view of conditional election that is briefly stated with Scriptures that is
used today. Giving evidence, that conditional is better than unconditional as in the Five Points of
Calvinism. Though the Bible obviously demonstrates that God selects individuals to redemption,
there are two differences as to the foundation of election. Conditional election is the idea that God
choose individuals for redemption centered on His omniscience of who want to place their belief
in Jesus. The free willof man plays into the scope of eternity. Historical View
Origen was one of the original to believe that predestination and will of man plays an important
role in the doctrine of election. The Scripture he uses is 2 Timothy 2:20 21 to where men can be
saved. John Chrysostom endorsed the thought on how salvation is performed. Semi Pelagians
also opposed unconditional because of human freedom and preaching would be pointless. The
Catholics believe the part of free choice and being in the grace of God. James Arminius disagreed
with Calvinist on a few issues like atonement and will of man. He formulated major proclamations
of the process of salvation. James articles were dismissed at Synod of Dort for being against the
Scriptures and where the articles from Calvin were accepted for the churches to teach. John Wesley
was strongly against unconditional and Calvinism that he gave reasons why the theory

Defining Fair Punishment
The first and greatest punishment of the sinner is the conscience of sin.
Lucius Annaeus Seneca
What is the purpose of punishment? Ultimately a fair and effective punishment must not only
prevent future transgressions, but also teach a valuable life lesson. While some punishments may
seem standard: a grounding for breaking curfew, a detention for misbehaving in class, a jail
sentence for robbery, not all punishments are so cut and dry. Take the case of Casey Heynes. A
video which has since gone viral depicts the March 2011 incident. Ritchard Gale, 12, appears to
tease and taunt Casey, 15, and unleash a few unretaliated punches. In response, Casey picks
Ritchard up, and slams him to the ground. While Ritchard was relatively physically unscathed in
the encounter, Casey could have inflicted quite serious damage. It was revealed through family and
witness interviews that Casey was indeed provoked, and had suffered bullying at the hands of
classmates for years. Regardless, school and societal rules were broken, and consequences must
follow. What then, is a fair punishment? Casey Heynes should receive a four day at home
suspension. In addition, he should participate in a bullying prevention group at his school and
attend a one day anger management course. This represents a fair punishment, as it acts as a
reasonable deterrent, allows Casey to demonstrate remorse, and is reflective of both Casey and
Ritchard s feelings. In order for a punishment to be

Josephine Tey s The Daughter Of Time
Until I read The Daughter of Time, I liked history. This was fortunate, since the curriculum my
mother used to homeschool me and my sisters was literature based, and as a result, we read a lot
of historical fiction. Some I enjoyed more than others, but over the years, as I grew to be quite a
voracious reader, historical fictionremained one of my most commonly read genres. And as my
reading comprehension developed, classic literature and several historical biographies slipped into
my reading list. I knew I enjoyed history, but only in a vague, half conscious manner. The fact that
many of the books I read were award winning and historically accurate was incidental.

The Effects of Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies on Humans
Abstract
Humans have to deal with many different diseases and the ones most disliked are the ones with no
cures. Like cancer, transmissible spongiform encephalopathies have no cure, but they are more rare.
These diseases are prion diseases which cause the brain to deteriorate. Prions are proteins that
sometimes behave like viruses, which mean that they should have some form of nucleic acid, but
since they don t, they cause abnormalities. The nervous system contains many normal prions, but
when an abnormal prion comes along, it transforms all the normal prions into abnormal ones.

Humans are susceptible to many different diseases and unfortunately, these transmissible
spongiform encephalopathies have death written all over them.
Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies 2
Should people really fear eating beef because of the possibility of contracting bovine spongiform
encephalopathy? Probably not since one can only contract this disease through the consumption of
contaminated meat. If a non contaminated part of an infected cow is consumed, the person would
not contract this disease. If one is unfortunate enough to consume a piece of contaminated meat, it
is basically his/her death sentence because his/her brain will slowly deteriorate through abnormal
prions that pass the immune system as a normal prion.
The meats that consumers eat are slabs of a cow s muscle tissue and the infectious meat is only
found in the nerve tissue. Of course there is the possibility of having some of the contaminated
meat passed on to the meat that consumers eat when the cows are cut, but the chances are very
slim. Since this disease is contracted through eating contaminated meat, the site of infection should
be in the digestive tract, yet this disease eats away at the brain and nervous system.
The abnormal prions from the contaminated meat invade the nervous system to reach the brain,
where they eat away and create holes that make the brain look like a sponge. The person slowly
loses his/her

It is very common for teenagers to wish to gain some freedom by earning a small income. This is
often achieved through employment at fast food chains, markets, restaurants, and shops. As a result
of the amount of time consumed by these occupations, much of a teenager s life tends to focus on
the people and events that are central to these places of employment. Sammy, the main character in
John Updike s story A amp;P, is a superb representation of the teen employee. p

After working for approximately three years in a bicycle shop where this characteristic can be
easily observed, I have found that customers will continue on their decided path of examining
merchandise and comparing prices, without regard for any added stimuli. During the busier
seasons, it seems especially true that one could, as stated by Sammy, set off dynamite . . . and the
people would by and large keep reaching and checking (Updike 371). This characteristic alienates
the employee from customers: in most cases, they are held to the belief that finding the lowest
priced, lowest quality item is necessary; they expect the employee to understandingly ring up six
pairs of checkered spandex cycling shorts that have been laying harmlessly dormant in the bargain

The effort some customers place into catching an employee s mistake could easily establish
customers as the most abhorrent aspect of a teen s job experience in its self. The number of
customers that possess this fine quality seems to be related to a function that increases with respect

Ghosts in any form are far more prominent in Kingston s life than in ours. Perhaps this is because
there are fantastic elements to the stories she tells, but it is difficult for we readers to separate
fantasy and reality and we confuse the two. In some cases such as with Brave Orchid s Sitting

The primary meaning of the word ghost in the work is, of course, American or white person .
White person might seem more attractive because of the idea of paleness that we associate with
ghosts, but there are Mexican ghosts and Negro ghosts so American is more accurate. This is
supported by the idea that those Chinese born in America are considered ghosts: They would not
tell us children because we had been born among ghosts, were taught by ghosts, and were

Abstract As Dr. Stephanie White prepares to cope with the a steep reduction in the budgetary
allocation to the Uptown Clinic she must carefully determine which areas to cut while striving to
maintain current levels of service. This essay will offer advice Dr. White on preparing for budget
cuts. It will also discuss the lean production philosophy and how this compares with typical
production. This essay will also describe the differences between managerial accounting and cost
accounting.

This philosophy is now generally accepted as the ideal business model of the 21st century and
replaces the mass production philosophy of the previous century. On the website
www.1000advices.com Mr. Vadim Kotelnikov, Inventor of inspirational Business e Coaching states
that the lean production philosophy is about doing more with less: less time, inventory, space,
labor, and money. Lean manufacturing, a shorthand for a commitment to eliminating waste,
simplifying procedures and speeding up production (www.1000advices.com).
At its very core, this philosophy employs a systematic approach to the elimination of waste in seven
key areas. These areas could be summarized as eliminating overproduction and producing only what
customers need; eliminating unnecessary delay, down or idle time; streamlining inventory
processes to eliminate unnecessary purchasing and storing of raw materials; prevent over
processing by removing any unnecessary steps in processes or procedures; streamlining the motion
/movement of people and equipment; eliminating transportation delays and unnecessary material
handling and reducing defective products and the cost to repair/replace them
(www.1000advices.com).
As is obvious by now, there are clear differences between typical production process and the lean
production model. Suited for the mass production strategy of the last century, the manufacturing
cycle of the typical production process primarily engages in cost accounting whether periodic or

A Research Study On Bpa
1). INTRODUCTION/ SPECIFIC AIMS, BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE.
Alexander Dianin was a Russian chemist who first compounded Bisphenol A, during the year
1891. Bisphenol A is commonly referred to as BPA. Dianin was carrying out studies on phenol
compounds and synthesized BPA by condensing acetone with two equivalent parts of phenol. The A
in BPA denotes acetone in its composition. (1)
At first, the development of BPA was solely an academic exercise. Dianin was the chair of the
Chemistry Department / Imperial Medial Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. (2) Modern organic
chemistry was in its beginning phases and the potential benefits from combining organic
compounds were being envisioned. Reports of BPA synthesis was first published in Eastern
European chemistry journals and eventually appeared in Western journals. For decades, BPA was
referred to only as: Dianin s Compound. (3) By today s organic chemistry standards, BPA is a
relatively simple molecule and is easy to produce industrially. However, in 1891, BPA s synthesis
was a remarkable discovery. BPA s laboratory synthesis demonstrated that the simplest member of
the ketone group, acetone, could be combined with two molecules of phenol. The result was a
previously nonexistent artificial compound. (4) Contrary to inorganic chemistry, this was not single
elements reacting to form a relatively small compound; organic chemistry had the potential of
combining many more compounds with seemingly unlimited potential of

Differences Between English, Spanish, And Spanish...
Colonization was such an important prosses to the world we live in today. Explorer would cross
the ocean and overcome many obstacles to try to find new land for their countries. The lands that
they did find were distinct in many different ways. The English, French, and the Spanish each
had unique settlements and geography. Each one had different governments, and religions.
Lastly, each colony had separate and different relations with the Native Americans. Each of
these three colonies had very different settlement patterns, and geographies. First most of all the
English colonies were created by the royal people of the colony, and were settled in Quebec,
Montreal, and Louisiana. Some of the very first trading s began were in Virginia and
Massachusetts, but then they all began to spread. On the other hand, in France the first colonies
that they began to trade with was in Newfoundland, but then continued with places like parts of
Canada, and the Mississippi River. Lastly, Spain has the longest colonization story. Colonization
in Spain began in 1492 when Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue looking for India but
ended up in Central America, which became a thriving colony of Spain becoming a huge value
due to the cash crop of sugar. He was looking for ways to become rich and spread the Catholic
religion. They didn t bring that, but when the explorers came back they brought back... Show more

Americans for things like trade and survival. French had respect for the Native Americans, but

How Web Analytics Can Help Businesses Or Organizations...
Introduction Web analytics can help businesses or organizations with a web presence stay
competitive, leading to profitability. The use of analytics can be a powerful tool in a company s
strategic approach that can be used to differentiate it from its competitors and serve as a form of
competitive advantage for the organization in competing in this twenty first century. In this essay,
various definitions of web analytics and other key terms used in this field will be examined.
Definitions According to on online behavior.com, analytics is defined as the process of obtaining
an optimal or realistic decision based on existing data. [1]. Davenport and Harris (2007) defined
analytics, as the extensive use of data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and
predictive models, and fact based management to drive decisions and actions. [2]. Web analytics is
defined, according to a document from Clark University, as the practice of measuring, collecting,
analyzing and reporting on internet data for the purposes of understanding how a website is used
by its audience and how to optimize its usage. [3]. The same document gives a much more simple
definition of web analytics, as the study of visitor, navigation, and traffic patterns to determine the
success of a given website. [3]. The document states further that web analytics does not purely focus
on the amount of traffic which might only be helpful in evaluating your bandwidth usage and
server capabilities. Instead

History
Vietnam is one of the countries in Southeast Asia with a population of over 95 million people. It has
a long history of being ruled by China for over a thousand years, resulting in a strong Chinese
influence on Vietnamese culture, language and writing system. Even after Vietnam has gained their
independence in the tenth century, Chinese was still the language was being spoken and used in
many written documents. However during the 16th and 17th centuries when Catholic missionaries
arrived in Vietnam, they wanted to establish a writing system that could be easily taught to people
in order to maintain their Catholic influence after they left. In 1651, a writing system based on the
roman alphabet called Quб»‘c ngб»Ї was created gaining popularity amongst missionaries and
followers. It took several years for the language to become more prominent in Vietnam eventually
being deemed the official language used for public documents in 1910. Though the transition from
Chinese to Quб»‘c ngб»Ї was very slow and difficult, eventually it became the writing system that
everyone used over time.
Introduction Vietnamese falls under the Mon Khmer group of the Austro Asiatic family of
languages, which mean that most of the vocabulary within the language contain different buildups
of lower intonations leading to a strong stressed syllable. There are three major dialects of

Stephen Davies
In this book, philosopher Stephen Davies attempts to explain why music has meaning. When we
talk about music we do not say that we only enjoy it. We also talk of music s ability to understood
or misunderstood. Sometimes music appears to speak towards deep feelings and experiences.
Consequently, some musicis viewed as having a content that makes these expressions available.
Therefore, the driving question of this book is: what does music mean? There is disclaimer to be
warned of before attempting to read this book. If you are looking for a book that is easy to read,
then this is probably not it. Davies is a trained philosopher, and a stalwart analytic one at that. This

1000 To 1750 Christianity Analysis
Between 1000 1750, Christianity maintained authority over the people due to religious and
political power, thereby greatly influencing art and education, however exposure to new knowledge
from the Islamic world led to changes in the way the church was perceived and depicted in Western
Europe.
At the beginning of the period during the Medieval Times, the Catholic Church had power and
influence over everyone s lives. The church built up its power over the years through superstition
and engraining in people s minds that the only way to heaven was through church. People believed
this because they were not exposed to any other formal education and anyone that spoke against the
church was subject to heretics. Toward the end of the period, after

Organizational Structures and Systems
Introduction This paper will examine organizational structures, organizational systems and how
organizational culture influences both structure and systems. Throughout this paper, there will an
analogy to the human body to help further the understanding of the concepts of structure and

(Goold Campbell, 2002). The first part of this paper will review different organizational structures.

Furthermore, one should think of culture, structure and systems as a whole system (Goold
Campbell, 2002) instead of independent, individual elements. The conclusion must be that
collectively, these three elements create the foundation of an organization. When an organization
does not use a holistic approach towards their culture, structure and systems, the organization
could create a poor working environment for its employees and poor results for their customers.
An example of culture, structure and systems not working well together can be seen in General
Motors (GM). GM prior to its bankruptcy was seen to be a highly bureaucratic company in which
brands, departments and regions operated like self governing and competing states with a
federation (Smerd, J. 2009). Here is a first hand account of culture, structure and systems not being
in harmony. In 1994, Ticketmaster (TM) United States became a major presence in the ticketing
industry. As part of their growth strategy, they expanded through the re acquisition of all licensees.
One of the licensees was the Canadian Ticketmaster business. From 1995 to 1997, TM Canada
was forced to transform organizationally to become similar to our American parent. The cultural
breakdown occurred when transitioning from networked (high on sociability; low on solidarity) to
mercenary (low on sociability; high on solidarity) (Langton Robbins, 2007, p. #341 342). For
example, the lack of accountability

  • 2. A Rhetorical Analysis Essay Living in a country that provides access to great health care, one would expect the United States to have a sufficient supply of medical professionals such as doctors. After all, the country has a booming population and is home to many respected institutions with driven and compassionate medical students. However, in the March 3, 2015 edition of The Washington Post, Lenny Bernstein addresses a relatively new problem in healthcare. In the article, U.S. Faces 90,000 Doctor Shortage by 2025, Medical School Association Warns , Bernstein successfully creates a real sense of this crisis through his use of logos and diction to address the expected shortage of medical doctors. Throughout the article, Bernstein utilizes logos by citing a report done by the Association of American Medical Colleges. Bernstein addresses, The United States faces a shortage of as many as 90,000 physicians by 2025,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bernstein is very familiar with medical and healthcare terminology, much more so than the average person; however, his language is familiar enough for an educated reader to follow along. With his experience as a blogger, he uses casual language to explain the economic side of the doctor shortage. Bernstein addresses, The organization called on Congress to raise the federal cap on slots for medical residents at teaching hospitals by 3,000 annually, at a cost it estimated would be about $1 billion per year. Most people don t know what a medical residency is and how it works, but Bernstein s language indicates that a residency, which is a part of a physician s training, involves the government s money and the limited number of slots at a hospital. This helps the reader better understand that job and educational opportunities are still limited for doctors, thus contributing to a doctor shortage. The use of diction helps Bernstein effectively explain the economic side of the anticipated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Introducing Systems Theory, Marriage And Family Therapists Introducing Systems Theory Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) in training are tasked with helping a family work through conflict and arrive and more intimate and interdependent relationships, which can seem daunting or maybe even terrifying. However, the interaction patterns that show up in families can find some context and clarity for a therapist who knows systems theory. Systems theory suggests that individuals cannot be understood in isolation from their family context because families create relational processes and generate a sequence of interactions and behaviors in order to maintain dynamic stability of the self regulating family system (Nichols, 2013, pp. 58 59). How does this general systems theory help an MFT guide a family in therapy? In this paper I will take three systems theory principles and apply them to a movie in order to demonstrate how it provides a language and context for MFTs, thus making it an essential tool in family therapy. I will begin with a brief synopsis of Demme s movie, Rachel Getting Married (2008), and its primary family characters. Next I will discuss three key principles of systems theory and use the movie characters interactions as examples for each corresponding principle. In the conclusion I will share my learning experience in doing this assignment. The Movie Synopsis Rachel Getting Married (Demme, 2008) is about Kym, the estranged daughter, return home to her upscale Connecticut family for her sister Rachel s wedding after ... • 4. Use Of Pressure In Ender s Game By Orson Scott Card With the advancement of technology new complex jobs exist. Who else to do the jobs, other than humanity s own youth? The pressure for humanity s youth to succeed is greater than before, In Ender s Game, Ender is always under pressure, and it takes its toll. Orson Scott Card uses the character of Ender to demonstrate the pressure that human society puts on its youth to succeed today, through Catharsis, Imagery and Symbolism Catharsis is used multiple times to show the stress and pressure on Ender. Usually Catharsis in the novel is the result of Ender s Stress When Ender confronts Colonel graff, and Mazer Rackham, after discovering his simulation was real Ender yells: You tricked me into it! He was crying, He was out of control (Card 342) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Catharsis is shown, as multiple yelling moments and multiple emotions are shown. Unlike the previous scene, when Ender was yelling, in this scene, Ender is worn out, and while Colonel Graff points out that some people want him dead, Ender replies: And they want you dead. Fine with me! (Card 343) As a nine year old child, Ender should be happy and energized, but what the reader sees through the novel, Ender gets less like a child and the pressure from before, even though relieved, does still take a toll on him, showing that pressure the human race puts on it s youth to succeed, even when taken off,can still take its toll. Through catharsis, In the novel, Ender s Game, Orson Scott card shows the reader real resemblance through major pressures in the novel, and in reality s schools and lives. Unlike catharsis, Imagery makes the reader sympathise for characters, and experience situations. Orson Scott Card uses imagery to focus the reader s attention to details and exhaustion that Ender feels. In this scene, Ender is explaining negative points, about leading an army, not sleeping much and having to bear losses. Orson Scott Card ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From turning on our cars to using a card access to gain entry to our workplace, encryption is there. More specifically, encryption in communication is a vital component to everyday life. Without encryption, our lives would be much different and unsecure. According to Oded Goldreich (2004), There are 2 main types of encryption: One is called Symmetric key and the other is public key encryption (pp 375 376). The Symmetric key algorithm uses the same cipher for both encryption and decryption. Conversely, the public key algorithm requires 2 separate keys. One of these keys encrypts the text or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even common household devices such as refrigerators now have WiFi access. Thermostats also can be controlled via the internet now. As you can see, technology is ever evolving and growing. It doesn t seem to be slowing down at all. Encryption is a great tool that is protection the assets of many companies. Referring back to an access card, companies rely on these to protect their buildings from unwanted access. Encryption definitely protects digital assets too. Many software products that we use are protected by a license or authentication key. This key is a special encrypted phrase that grants access to the software. It can prevent people from stealing software without paying for it. While some companies are viewed as being greedy, in all honesty it does cost time and money to develop software and products that people want to buy. These products need to be secured in the interest of the company because it is in human nature to be dishonest, disloyal, and to be a thief in many cases. Going back almost ten years, companies were looking for ways to prevent game stealing. A pioneer in the gaming industry, Valve, took action by suspending 20,000 users who had stolen their software (GameSpot). While this was an example of how encryption was used to catch thieves, encryption can also be used to prevent unauthorized access. This is the case in many industries such as the ... • 7. Prison Population Around The World Samantha Talmo Professor Wisz 8 August 2016 Research Paper Prison populations around the world are continuing to grow every single day. The nation s jail population flows like a torrential river with upwards of 12 million individuals moving in and out of institutions annually (Lyman, 167). The population is continuing to grow in jails because of the growth in the crime itself. It is debated whether or not nonviolent criminals should be given jail time. There are other punishments that could be given to criminals that have not created violent crimes, for example serving community service, being on house arrest and speaking to a parole officer. Another question that society considers is whether or not in the long run will society itself benefit from nonviolent criminals not receiving jail time. Society would benefit if nonviolent criminals were punished in other ways than jail time. Society would benefit since overcrowding in jails wouldn t be an issue, tax costs would be reduced, and recidivism would decrease as a result. A big issue in prisons are overcrowding, it was previously stated that 12 million inmates that around the world that is in prison. Even after considering that that is the average of all prisons put together there is still a huge amount of people living in one prison. Other animals are killed for food. Finally, some animals are killed for sport, that is, human leisure. Two stories in the literature world that are filled with the theme of killing animals are Antlers, by Rick Bass, and May s Lion, by Ursula Le Guin. These archetypes have many different views on the animals and their life. Ultimtaely, these stories show how humanseek comforting purpose, ultimately, salvation from nature, specifically through beautiful creatures called animals through saving them or killing them. She explains how wild animals are different , how they enjoy life and that it is cruel to go in after them and kill them (285). She is definitely an advocate of saving the animals. My aim with this essay is to describe colonialism, more specifically the Portuguese Empire and its impact on the colonized, on culture, on history and most important on the colonizer with a fulfilling understanding of the concepts and ideas created. I will emphasis on the returnee s history, as well as, focusing on the similarities between the Portuguese returnees and the millions of refugees that exist nowadays. Nevertheless, I will stress about colonialismin the current days, highlighting how colonialism is currently inserted in fashion. Therefore, relating colonialism and globalisation inside fashion industries, I will demonstrate that by giving some examples used by Malcolm Barnard, such as Tommy Hilfiger and Adidas. Colonialism involveds the subjugation of one civilisation to another, it is an act of domination towards a culture, civilization or people . Colonialism can be several times with confused with Imperialism, but the two differ in some aspects. Colonialism is about relocating populaces to new territoriesy and maintaining the same political system from their country of origin. • 12. Essay On Treasure Fleets My favorite scholarly pursuit to date is in a category of its own, combining most of the examples in the given prompt. It began roughly three years ago when I first read about the Spanish treasure fleets of the early 1700s in one of my history books. The subject was just barely brushed upon, but it was enough to spark my curiosity on the topic and I decided to look up more information. After reading several books and individual articles, I focused my intended research on a single fleet: the 1715 treasure fleet. Consisting of eleven ships, the 1715 fleet had been laden with gold, fine china, and other valuables. Spain was in desperate need of funds due to the War of Succession, so the large treasure fleet was not an uncommon sight. I cannot put enough emphasis on just how much this pursuit sharpened my research skills and expanded my interest in both the environment and history. One bit of information led to another, and I learned more from this research than I probably would have in a normal high school classroom setting. • 13. Mandating Paternity Leave As the world is emerging, parental roles are experiencing a shift. It is very common to have professional companies and organizations offer mothers paid time off. Typically, this maternity leave is at least six weeks. New fathers, however, don t often get this same luxury, which is unfortunate. In order for a father to better support the motherof their child and/or personally care for their child, a father should be granted paid paternity leave. Many argue that not mandating paternity leave is serving men and their careers far better than if the policy were to be established. The opposing side believes that if the creation of paternity leave becomes, mandatory, it will do more harm than good especially for the men who don t become fathers.... Watching this documentary makes you take a step back and evaluate how you have treated people if you have even been in a situation where you had to make a trip to the ER. Documentaries like this are made to expand the public s views of medicine and the medical field, and to also show the struggles the employees in this field face. In many dramatic medical television shows you never see the struggle to fit everyone into the hospital. The lack of beds in The Waiting Room results in patients being put into the hallways. This leads to congestion in the ER, and makes all of the employees lives just a little bit harder. The lack of beds is also being influenced by the influx of people coming into the ER. The more people coming into the ER, for things that someone with insurance would go to a doctor for, takes up beds. Either over inflating revenues, assets or cash flows, or understating any debts and expenses are examples of this type of fraud. These accounting swindles allow companies to have an efficient public appearance to investors and potential creditors. Nevertheless, according to a recent journal article from (Chen Huang, 2013), these deceitful activities led to abnormal stock returns and unfavorable open market purchases and repurchases. The statements from the financial disclosures were so unclear, yet seemed too good to be true. Consequently, a wide number of corporations received complaints from investors under the regards of the published financial statements. It is based on easy material that is chosen by the learner to build language fluency and. ER allows learners to process language faster and improves comprehension. In Britain, for example, in the eighteen and the nineteen centuries Foggart (cited in Tribble, 1996, p.11) pointed out, it is desirable that the majority should read in the way they can be given instructions and can be educated into a particular ideology, writing on the other hand assume the giving instructions and the formation of views about society . These two skills are viewed as separated skills because reading is passive and writing is productively one; however, these two language skills are complementary and can be closely developed. As Johnson (2008, p.07) believes that the relationship between these two skills is that reading helps learners become better writer, by making them in contact with the rules of grammar, consequently they develop the language structure, grammar and increase their vocabulary; hence, reading in the writing classroom is understood as the appropriate input for the acquisition of writing skill since it is believed that reading passages will somehow function as primary model for which writing skill can be learned, or at least inferred (Eisterhold, 1990, ... Al s Study Summary: The central focus of Pollastek et al s (2012) study was to determine why elderly drivers are more likely to be involved in vehicular accidents at intersections than younger experienced drivers. As a means of data collection Pollastek et al (2012) tested the scanning ability of elderly drivers at intersections through a series of different scenarios. Each scenario took place in a simulated environment, testing the scanning ability of elderly drivers where they were instructed to go through 1) a four way intersection, 2) turn right at a T intersection and 3) proceed through an intersection. Pollastek et al (2012) found that elderly drivers fail to properly scan for potential hazards while proceeding through intersections. Pollastek et al (2012) also found that by providing video feedback the participants in the training group performed similarly to younger experienced drivers. Reactions: The strengths of Pollastek et al s (2012) study lie in the methods used for data collection. Gaines states that although he is not devoutly religious, it is his belief that for you to survive, you must have something greater than what you are, whether it s religion or communism, or capitalism or something else, but it must be something above what you are (Gaines and Lowe 52). When applied to the narrator of his subsequent work, A Lesson Before Dying, it would seem that this principle is reflected in the one thing Grant Wiggins initially holds above himself. Yet with the closing lines of this chapter, Death by electrocution. The governor would set the date (Gaines 9), the credibility of Grant s implicit prediction is authenticated, leaving the reader with the impression that since the conclusion implied at the beginning is valid, and since the premises seem plausible, that these premises must at least be grounded in a degree of truth. Just as with any bet, there could also be a risk and disadvantage. If the film fails, they would both have to take the fall instead of just Disney Studios. When our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having five independent sub studios also creates its own set of issues. Directors and executives not being on the same page is one of the issues that has the potential to be the most costly. In the case of Inside Out they made beneficial changes to the movie late in the process after executives viewed the cut of the movie. In this case, executives working with sub studios benefitted the finished product, however, it creates and environment in which if executives and directors have different views of where a movie should go or how characters should be portrayed it could lead to a complete teardown and reshoot of a movie which would waste time and possibly risk missing a release date of a major tentpole movie. Another challenge that arises when sub studios are involved is division of resources, which could lead to lower quality movies by not having all creative minds working on a particular movie. For example, Disney live action has had the biggest percentage of failures versus all of the other labels. Marvel and Lucasfilm have had tremendous success in creating universes in which their movies can take place and add on to. This can be seen in the Star Wars universe or the Marvel universe. The creative minds that developed the ideas to base these movies could be beneficial to the Disney live action brand but the separation of resources keeps collaboration of creative minds from happening. • 33. A Brief Look At The Historical View Of Conditional Election A brief look at the historical view of conditional election that is briefly stated with Scriptures that is used today. Giving evidence, that conditional is better than unconditional as in the Five Points of Calvinism. Though the Bible obviously demonstrates that God selects individuals to redemption, there are two differences as to the foundation of election. Conditional election is the idea that God choose individuals for redemption centered on His omniscience of who want to place their belief in Jesus. The free willof man plays into the scope of eternity. Historical View Origen was one of the original to believe that predestination and will of man plays an important role in the doctrine of election. The Scripture he uses is 2 Timothy 2:20 21 to where men can be saved. John Chrysostom endorsed the thought on how salvation is performed. Semi Pelagians also opposed unconditional because of human freedom and preaching would be pointless. The Catholics believe the part of free choice and being in the grace of God. James Arminius disagreed with Calvinist on a few issues like atonement and will of man. He formulated major proclamations of the process of salvation. James articles were dismissed at Synod of Dort for being against the Scriptures and where the articles from Calvin were accepted for the churches to teach. • 34. Defining Fair Punishment The first and greatest punishment of the sinner is the conscience of sin. Lucius Annaeus Seneca What is the purpose of punishment? Ultimately a fair and effective punishment must not only prevent future transgressions, but also teach a valuable life lesson. While some punishments may seem standard: a grounding for breaking curfew, a detention for misbehaving in class, a jail sentence for robbery, not all punishments are so cut and dry. Take the case of Casey Heynes. A video which has since gone viral depicts the March 2011 incident. Ritchard Gale, 12, appears to tease and taunt Casey, 15, and unleash a few unretaliated punches. In response, Casey picks Ritchard up, and slams him to the ground. While Ritchard was relatively physically unscathed in the encounter, Casey could have inflicted quite serious damage. It was revealed through family and witness interviews that Casey was indeed provoked, and had suffered bullying at the hands of classmates for years. Regardless, school and societal rules were broken, and consequences must follow. What then, is a fair punishment? Casey Heynes should receive a four day at home suspension. In addition, he should participate in a bullying prevention group at his school and attend a one day anger management course. This represents a fair punishment, as it acts as a reasonable deterrent, allows Casey to demonstrate remorse, and is reflective of both Casey and Ritchard s feelings. This was fortunate, since the curriculum my mother used to homeschool me and my sisters was literature based, and as a result, we read a lot of historical fiction. Some I enjoyed more than others, but over the years, as I grew to be quite a voracious reader, historical fictionremained one of my most commonly read genres. And as my reading comprehension developed, classic literature and several historical biographies slipped into my reading list. I knew I enjoyed history, but only in a vague, half conscious manner. The Effects of Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies on Humans Abstract Humans have to deal with many different diseases and the ones most disliked are the ones with no cures. Like cancer, transmissible spongiform encephalopathies have no cure, but they are more rare. These diseases are prion diseases which cause the brain to deteriorate. Prions are proteins that sometimes behave like viruses, which mean that they should have some form of nucleic acid, but since they don t, they cause abnormalities. The nervous system contains many normal prions, but when an abnormal prion comes along, it transforms all the normal prions into abnormal ones. Humans are susceptible to many different diseases and unfortunately, these transmissible spongiform encephalopathies have death written all over them. Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies 2 Should people really fear eating beef because of the possibility of contracting bovine spongiform encephalopathy? Probably not since one can only contract this disease through the consumption of contaminated meat. If a non contaminated part of an infected cow is consumed, the person would not contract this disease. If one is unfortunate enough to consume a piece of contaminated meat, it is basically his/her death sentence because his/her brain will slowly deteriorate through abnormal prions that pass the immune system as a normal prion. The meats that consumers eat are slabs of a cow s muscle tissue and the infectious meat is only found in the nerve tissue. Of course there is the possibility of having some of the contaminated meat passed on to the meat that consumers eat when the cows are cut, but the chances are very slim. Since this disease is contracted through eating contaminated meat, the site of infection should be in the digestive tract, yet this disease eats away at the brain and nervous system. The abnormal prions from the contaminated meat invade the nervous system to reach the brain, where they eat away and create holes that make the brain look like a sponge. The A in BPA denotes acetone in its composition. (1) At first, the development of BPA was solely an academic exercise. Dianin was the chair of the Chemistry Department / Imperial Medial Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia.
