My Life s Up And Downs And The Decisions
As I look back at my life s up and downs and the decisions I ve made along the way, thing could have
gone for better or worse, hence the motto in the title. I can recall making small decisions on what I
should spend my time on, either play with my childhood friend s after school or review the homework

Advertising to children should not be considered unethical or be deemed related to childhood obesity
as there are many factors that play into obesity that are being denied or overlooked if the blame is put
on advertising. Often, advertising is merely used as the scapegoat. Further, the primary intent of
advertising food is to increase brand awareness; not to increase consumption. As defined by the
Merriam Webster Dictionary, advertising is the action of calling something to the attention of the
public, its purpose is not to force individuals to perform an action, rather just make their
product/service more known ( Advertising ). According to Kant s Duty Based Ethics, since the intent
of advertising is not to increase obesity in the consumers , it cannot be deemed unethical. Overall,
research shows that most children under the age of 6 cannot distinguish between programming and

general, excess weight gain in young people is similar to those in adults, including factors such as a
person s behavior and genetics. Therefore, there should not be a focus on advertising to kids alone; if
there needs to be more regulations with advertising in terms of advertising to kids, then regulations
should be made in advertising to adults as well.

Abstract
This paper explores an overview of the mission and the overall organization of the United States
Customs and Border Protection (CBP). It will also discuss the roles and responsibilities of the
organization, its history, and how they support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This
paper will provide you with facts, highlights, and challenges germane to CBP. You will understand
how CBP interacts and operates with the intelligence community and the Armed Forces in order to
meet up to their responsibilities.

On a normal day, CBP welcomes nearly 1 million visitors, screens more than 67,000 cargo containers,
arrests more than 1,100 individuals and seizes nearly 6 tons of illicit drugs. CBP is charged with
keeping terrorists and their weapons out of the U.S. while aiding the lawful international travel and
trade (CBP.GOV, 2014).
Organization
From the top of the chart, Commissioner Kerlikowske oversees the dual U.S. Customs and Border
Protection mission of protecting national security objectives while promoting economic prosperity and
security, while Acting Deputy Commissioner McAleenan is the chief operating official of the 60,000
employee border agency. As the Chief of Staff of CBP, Dr. Kimberly O Connor is responsible for
supporting the Commissioner in carrying out CBP s vital mission of guarding our nation s borders.
The mission of these the 60,000 well trained and dedicated CBP employees is overseen by 14 assistant
commissioners, who lead organizations in law enforcement, regulatory, intelligence, technology and
other support efforts. The office of the commissioner also oversees executive offices that provide an
array of expertise from policy and planning to trade relations and privacy and civil rights (see

be thrown out of a car than be stuck in a seatbelt, and my favorite, I m a good driver I don t need to
wear one. Well you may be a good driver but there are situations beyond your control such as bad
weather, road conditions and not to mention other drivers that can affect your safety. Seat belts can
mean the difference between life and death in an auto accident. Wearing a seat belt every time you

For the people who use the excuse that They are just going around the corner should realize that 80%
of traffic fatalities occur within a 25 mile radius of your home and at a speed of 40 miles an hour.
Buckling up to drive around the block is probably the best time to do so. Everyone knows that car
crashes can cause death; yet because people do not buckle up all the time thousands of people still die
in traffic crashes yearly. Seatbelts can save your life in a crash and can reduce your risk of a serious
injury. Seat belts keep drivers and passengers from being ejected through windows or doors. This is
important because your chances of being killed are five times greater if you are thrown from the
vehicle. Thousands of people who die in car crashes each year might still be alive today if they had
only been wearing their seat belts.
Wearing a seat belt isn t just a good idea; it s the law and many states conduct heightened enforcement
of their seat belt laws. Forty nine states, all except New Hampshire have mandatory safety belt laws.
In most states, these laws cover front seat occupants only, although belt laws in 16 jurisdictions
including New York cover all rear seat occupants also. New York is one of 19 jurisdictions where belt
use laws are standard, or primary, meaning police may stop vehicles solely for belt law violations. In
17 states including New York the safety belt defense is allowed, meaning damages collected by
someone in a crash may be reduced
