Aspartic Acid Synthesis Essay
Aspartame is a widely used artificial sweetener that is approximately 180 200 times sweeter than
sucrose, natural sugar. Because of this, it is typically used in foods and beverages branded as diet
(Humphries, Pretorius, and Naudé, 2008). As time passes, more and more studies are being conducted
on the harmful effects of this food additive on astrocytes and neurons. When ingested, aspartame is
metabolized into phenylalanine (50%), aspartic acid (40%), and methanol (10%), which each affect
neuronal cells differently (Ashok, Sheeladevi, and Wankhar, 2014). According to Rycerz and Elżbieta
Jaworska Adamu (2013), the excess phenylalanine blocks the transport of amino acids, glutamine,

Aspartic acid is a precursor to the commonly used amino acid and neurotransmitter, glutamate.
Glutamate is typically present in the body for neurons to use, but the excess glutamate presented from
the breakdown of aspartic acid causes over excitation of amino acid receptors, EAAT 1 (GLAST),
EAAT 2 (GLT 1) and EAAT 3 (Rycerz and Elżbieta Jaworska Adamu, 2013). Excitation of these
receptors induces fast, constant action potentials and release of neurotransmitters at the axon terminal;
this requires both the depletion of the cell s ATP storage and the uptake of Ca2+ ions (which leads to
the release of the neurotransmitters). However, an influx of calcium ions in a cell can lead to
mitochondrial calcium overload the subsequent permeabiltiy of the mitochondrial membrane.
Eventually, the cell membrane will permeate as well and reactive oxygen species (ROS) will be
released, causing oxidative stress and further damage to surrouding neurons (Ghandi and Ambrov,
2011). This phenomenon is known as exocytoxicity and is directly responsible for the death of
dopaminergic neurons, which leads to decreased dopamine levels, decreased communication from the
substantia nigra, and, likely, Parkinson s Disease. The last metabolite, methanol, may cause harm to
neurons as well by inducing metabolic acidosis from the conversion to formic acid, though it likely
does not have a major

Visualizing Nutrition
Before I was able to describe the similarities and differences of the diets, I first needed to figure out
what exactly they were. The DASH eating plan as intentions to lower hypertension, USDA food
patterns were created for citizens to follow their dietary guidelines, and the Mediterranean diet is not a
diet, if is a lifestyle (Wiley, Visualizing Nutrition) that one will normally continue with. Some
similarities between the diets are that they all want you to intake the correct amount of food, no more
no less, and they all focus on very similar types of food. While reading our Visualizing nutrition book,
I learned that all of these eating styles they are all very nutrient dense styles of eating, including fish,
other seafoods and proteins, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these common claims say promise of fast weight loss quantities and imitations, promotes
specific food combinations, and no need to be physically active. (WordsonWellness). You never want
to all of the sudden and dramatically lose weight, it is far better to gradually lose weight. FAD diets
that avoid eating multiple food groups take away the vitamins that the human body needs to survive
and be healthy. FAD diets that tell you to eat at certain times are also incorrect, you should eat when
you feel hungry but only eat until you are satisfied and not full. Lastly, diets that say you do not need
any physical activity may be shedding weight off of your body, but you are not gaining muscle and
becoming stronger, in the long term you may even feel weaker. Many people who become apart of the
FAD diet community think that their health will improve, in some cases this is inaccurate. Based on
what I have learned in past nutrition classes and my own personal experience they can actually be very
bad for your health, not just the inside of your body, but the outside too. You may notice muscle and
even hair loss. I had a friend who started losing her hair when starting a very common FAD diet. You
will also notice deficiencies in your nutrition especially if you cut out carbs because they are the main
source of our energy.

A Different Point of View of the Vietnam War in Tim...
A natural behaviour for humans is trying to relate to other s points of view, one thing most people do
not realize is that when you actually experience the event, you will have a different point of view
versus trying to relate to it. Tim O Brien, the author of The Things They Carried, had a completely
different point of view on war than others who just watched it on the news. The main character and the
stories in the book resemble Tim O Brien s life in many ways, one of which is how Tim and the main
character both oppose the war but other s point of view about the war makes them conform and go to
war anyways. .The Vietnam war, which is the basis of this book, had two opposing groups like all
wars. The first was the opposition to U.S ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that [He] would go to war [He] would kill and maybe die because [He] was embarrassed (O
Brien 57). He soon realized that he should have escaped when he had the chance because it was better
than experiencing the horrors and traumatic experiences that soldiers go through. Sometimes what
society thinks can get the best of you and lead you to do things that are against your beliefs and
morals. This is what Tim is trying to say through the book to the readers who might find themselves in
similar situations.
O Brien always questioned the idea of enemies . Throughout the book he questioned in many ways
and asked why were they enemies. What have they done to make them enemies, he sought for answers
to his questions and eventually justified them by if I don t kill them then they will kill me .He was
afraid of both killing, and dying but he knew that if he didn t kill then he himself would be dead.
These experiences and suppression of ideas are what led O Brien s to write The Things They Carried.
In real life, Tim O Brien feared the war and wrote this book to persuade others and to plant an idea in
their head about the horrors that they should not want to suffer. Tim portrays his fear of the war by
sharing his experiences as stories. Tim portrays many of his fears

The Conflict Between Saudi Arabia And Iran
It s often thought, in the west, that the feud between Saudi Arabia and Iran is 14 centurys old and that
we don t understand it because we (the west) are so dis attached from religion in governance. For
example, the end of religious politics in the US is credited with the writings of the English philosopher
John Locke and this view on religion became particularly influential in the United States Constitution
in 1787 (ref). State figures like Barack Obama showed this in his final State of the Union Address, he
called the region a place rooted in conflicts that date back millennia (Obama, 2016). The truth of the
situation is, religious politics has been left behind in the west. It s true that the divide in identities
within Islam was formed from a religious dispute centuries ago. It s also nothing new that Sunnis and
Shia s have been in conflict for decades maybe centuries. The rivalry between the two has had a
violent affect in contemporary Middle East stabilization and politics.
Sectarianism between Saudi Arabia and Iran shouldn t be concluded as a foreign ancient feud that
conflicts modern political logic but rather a modern phenomenon and a product of contemporary
politics. Furthermore, it is playing out not in obscure theological forums but in the political arena.
Sectarianism has become the product of key factors that play into religion. Islamism is a modern day
ideology which asks for an ideal Islamic state, formed on the foundations of Islamic law. Islamism is

What Is Gandhi s Ethos
Mahatma: A Great Soul
Few names go down in history untarnished. Regardless of religious belief or standard of living, the
purity of Mohandas K. Gandhi cannot be denied. In his work gaining rights for indentured slaves,
spreading non violence, gaining independence from Britain, and developing unity between Hindus and
Muslims, he never failed to prove the strength of his morals. His legacy could not have proceeded if it
weren t for his patience in spreading the message of remaining humble, specifically through his
writings. Throughout his autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth, Gandhi appeals to
the readers pathos and carries across his message of maintaining humility through admitting his
mistakes, never blaming others, and giving all credit to God. Without creating such a pristine character
for himself, he never would have gain such a wide following.
In particular, one s personality cannot be perceived as unpretentious without the admittance of his or
her mistakes. Gandhi often mentions the regrets of his behavior in the past, specifically when it comes
to the treatment of his wife. In page 21, he admits his wrongdoings of controlling his wife, Kasturbai,

Classical, Biological And Psychological Theories
Early classical, biological and psychological theories have helped shape the burgeoning world of
criminology. Many of the ideas they held were unique, however, some key principles are still in use by
there modern counterparts. Classical psychological theories, focused on two main concepts;
personality and behaviorism. Personality theories helped improve cognitive sciences and behaviorism
called attention to social learning with a focus on behavioral conditioning. For example, Ivan Pavlov,
a prominent researcher, demonstrated that behavior can be changed by changing conditions associated
with the behavior. Personality theories and behavioral conditioning worked, in conjunction, to form
the classical psychological theory. (Schmalleger, p.82). This theory attempted to adapt the disease
model , which analysts hoped would identify the key elements that provoked mental and emotional
issues. (Schmalleger, p.82) Researchers in this field used terms like, mental disease, personality
disorder and psychopath to try and define individuals suffering from these mental aliments. However,
contemporary psychologists have chosen to modify their main focus. In other words, contemporary
analysts have one main study of focus for the people that suffer from mental ailments,
psychopathology. For example, current psychologists suggest that depression, schizophrenia,
alcoholism, ADHD, and psychopathy are all mental alignments associated with psychopathology;
psychopathy has been noted as the

Physician Remuneration Case Study
In 2010 11, Ontario spent, 40.3% of its total spending on healthcare programs and it was determined
that if left unchecked this trend would expand to more than 44% by 2017 18 (Drummond, 2012).
Physician remuneration accounts for the third largest share of health dollars (15.5%), behind only
pharmaceuticals (15.7%) and hospitals (29.5%) (Canadian Institute for Health Information, 2015).
These three categories are by far the largest single categories of expenditure and when combined
represent 60% of total health spending. Furthermore it is important to note that the growth rate of
physician expenditure (2.2%) has outpaced that of hospitals or drugs since 2007 (Canadian Institute

In this case the principle is the government, which has an objective of maximizing the health care of
Ontario while also efficiently utilizing resources to keep costs low. However the government
(principle) cannot achieve this on its own and need physicians (the agent) to carry out the task related
to health improvement. The government aims to motivate physician through financial incentives to
improve health, nonetheless physicians are always striving to increase their own utility via higher
income, which occurs as a direct result of patients visits to the physician which is higher when the
population is unhealthy. This represents an endless cycle of repetition, where the government wishes
to improve health status but the intrinsic value of physician remuneration is a direct result of the lack
of health in the population. This results in the fee for service model being both technically inefficient
and costly since physicians have a financial incentive to over utilize resources such as conducting
exams that may not necessarily be needed. Furthermore due to the nature of Universal health care
patients also have also a tendency to over utilize health services, as individuals do not personally incur
costs for accessing health services. This leads to the expressed demand curve of health care being
higher than it should if it were solely based on necessity (Figure 1). Each extra unnecessary access of
healthcare provides diminishing marginal benefit in large part due to opportunity cost. If a patient did
not access said health care their time could have gone towards a different activity that has a higher
marginal benefit. As a result true marginal social benefit is lower than modeled and utility decreases
overall as the public healthcare model and fee for service model for physicians results in over
utilization regardless of the

What Are The Ethical Dilemma In Nursing
In addition to technical support provided to patients, nurses must address the psychosocial challenges
and ethical conflicts associated with caring for critically ill patients and their families. More often
Nurses are left with dilemmas when it comes to decision making and trying to up holds the ethics of
autonomy, who to listen to, the client or the family? Ethically the patient has the right to choose what s
best for self, but is powerlessness when one is brought to hospital in a critical condition.
Ethical dilemmas are the main common challenges faced by nurses, during practice almost on daily

between nurses and patients.
Conflicting obligations arises when the nurse is supposed to make ethical decisions between what to

Essay On Cuban Embargo
Embargoes are restrictions on trade between countries used to achieve some kind of goal. The United
States has imposed an embargo on Cuba to encourage the Cuban government to change the way they
run themselves because the United States does not agree with the system of government they have in
place. This embargo enacts total restrictions on trade and travel between the United States and Cuba.
The United States embargo against Cuba should be lifted because it is doing more harm than good to
both countries involved.
To start, embargoes in the United States started with Jefferson s Embargo of 1807 ( The Embargo of
1807 ). Embargoes are put in place by countries in hopes to maintain or restore peace between
countries ( Sanctions, Embargoes and Restrictions ). They can be enacted for a number of different
reasons including moral, political, or environmental objections or concerns (Berkheimer). Embargoes
seek to encourage a country to change the regimes or groups that have allowed the behavior from
which the concerns arise. They do this by way of bans on certain things like travel, arms, or ... Show

Because of the wholesale ban on trade, American food and related supplies cannot be exported to

have the resources to handle. Malnourishment also means pregnant women cannot receive what their
bodies need during pregnancies, leading to a high infant mortality rate for a developed country. Due to
trade restrictions Cuba cannot get any significant number of water treatment chemicals to purify water
for drinking. This has led to a decrease in the amount of safe drinking water that is available to Cuban
citizens ( Denial of

First of all, a coral reef is defined as a ridge of rock in the sea formed by the growth and deposit of

Dolphins Persuasive
Why Should We Save the Dolphins? Final Draft
By: Emily Chang
Class: 6(2)
Subject: English
Teacher: Mr. Kris(Smith)
Imagine you are a dolphin swimming happily in the ocean with the other dolphins. Suddenly, you hear
something terrible, and that makes you feel extremely uncomfortable. You swim towards somewhere
safe to get away from that terrible sound. However, when you get in, you realize it is a trap! You have
been caught! You might be sent to an aquarium or killed to be made into sushi. This unfortunate fate is
not a dream, but it is a sad reality for hundreds of thousands of innocent dolphins. They are
endangered of becoming extinct and their main predators are us, humans. Our society needs to do
something to preserve and protect our precious dolphins. Dolphins should be saved because they are
an endangered species, it is cruel to kill such intelligent animals and they are not even safe to eat.
Dolphins: An Endangered Species There are many kinds of dolphins in the world. The most common
one that we see in theme parks, aquariums and movies is the Bottlenose Dolphin. Fortunately for us,
this is one of the few species of dolphins that are not yet endangered. However, there are many other

Different Types Of Habitable Zones
Introduction Life is an amazing and seemingly rare phenomenon. With the materials necessary and the
process that had to take place in a certain order, at certain times, it really is a wonder that we are here.
What is even more impressive is that we have managed to evolve past single celled organisms, and
into intelligent life forms. With our increased intelligence, there coincides an increased number of
questions that need answers. Does other life exist? What do planets need to support life? Where do we
go from here? Throughout this paper, I hope to answer these questions, or at least provide some
evidence as to what we know so far. The focus will mainly be on the different types of habitable
zones, what special resources and properties are required for a potentially habitable planet within one
of these zones, and what this all means.

Circumstellar Habitable Zone A circumstellar habitable zone refers to the habitability potential within
a planetary system, and is usually used in reference to one almost identical to our own (Gonzalez,
2005). Water is one of the most important factors that most all scientists agree is necessary at this
stage of habitability (Gonzalez, 2005). From there, however, there is some controversy as to what
important resources and properties make a planet habitable. Some of the commonly discussed factors
include mass, rotation period, obliquity, distance from sun, atmosphere composition, and the list could
go on and on forever (Gonzalez, 2005).

To start with, the slavery who tried to run and be free. Slavery did try to run but they couldn t because
if the white people see a slavery trying to run away they will hey would slap him and kick him and
hurt him a lot and they would kill them. Slavery wanted to run away for many reasons. The life of the
slave is not a happy life at all and many of them were beaten and tortured because of trying to run
away. Many families were separated when members were sold to different owners, just like Kizzy.
White people sold Kizzy to different owners and her life was terrible without her mom and her dad.
Kunta Kinte tried to run away many times but the white people always catch him and torture him.

Abstinence Research
During the 20th century, American society faced plights relating to human sexuality like the HIV crisis
(1968) and the enormous teenage pregnancy rate in 1990 s. In this era, technological developments
made in contraception led to colossal advancement in the quest for finding solutions to the previously
mentioned problems. The results of these advancements came in the form of the contraception pill
approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1957 and the development of the latex
condom in 1920.
There has been much debate about the best method to approach complications related to sexual health.
The oldest and most widely used method is the abstinence program in high schools. This program is

In this study also supports the argument from the other article (Greslé Favier 2013) where the states
classified as level three states are the generally denominated conservative states otherwise classified as
liberal states. This comprehensive study (2013) found that in those level three federation the teenage
pregnancy rates are even higher than in the level zero ones. This can serve as a strong example that

Camera Techniques In Citizen Kane
Citizen Kane was a film that was ahead of its time in 1941 directed, produced, and acted by Orson
Welles. Orsen Welles created new innovation techniques and cinematography that was not discovered
until Citizen Kane. He used unique camera techniques by using deep focus, camera framing, and
camera moves to create excellent views of the characters to help the audience to feel as he or she is

American Industrial Revolution
Spinning Machines have helped the American Industry for as long as they have been around. The idea
of having a spinning machine was to make wool into yarn; this made it easier for people in the
clothing industry more productive with the making of their products. Compared to today s spinning
machines for wool and clothing making, spinning machines then were just the building blocks for the
clothing industry. The idea of Spinning Machines was introduced by James Hargreaves in 1764.
Hargreaves before his invention was working as a weaver and carpenter in his home country of land
Sandhill, Lancashire. He himself was illiterate, but he understood weavers problem with trying to

Naguib Mahfouz Fountain and Tomb Essay
In the novel Fountain and Tomb by Naguib Mahfouz, the reader is thrown into a small alley in Cairo,
Egypt in the 1920s. The narrator is an adult reliving his childhood through many random, interesting
vignettes of his youth. We learn about many different aspects of Egyptian life from political rebellion,
to arranged marriages, to religious devotion, to gang warfare. We are led to conclude that one of the
major themes of the book is Truth. We come to question whether Truth is something that always needs
to be known. Will the Truth ultimately do more harm than good? Is there ever a time when the Truth
must be told? Are there times when it s better for the Truth to never be known?
Truth is constantly sought out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story ends with the son supposedly helping his father pass away so he won t be forced to return
his fortune. This is a case where the father thought it was necessary for the Truth to come out, but
where did it leave his family? So we wonder, is the Truth always the best thing to be told? Can it do
more harm than good? In this case it did. Truth only brought about more pain, conflict, and trouble
than if it had not been told.
When our narrator is conversing with Anwar Gilel on the fountain steps, Gilel has made an astounding
realization. I ve just realized that I m a student among competing students in a school which throws
together students from antagonistic little lanes, in an alley in the middle of warring alleys, that I m a
creature among millions of creatures both seen and unseen on a ball of mud awhirl amid a solar
system over which I have no control, that this solar system is itself lost in endless space ... It goes on
and he asks the narrator whether the sun will come up tomorrow. I d take bets on it, the lad answered.
Gilel ends the argument by saying, Blessed are the ignorant, for they are happy (Mahfouz, 115). Gilel
also has realized that what people don t know is sometimes better for them. It makes them feel better,
safer, and happier. And we wonder which is more important, knowing the Truth, or knowing enough
of the Truth to keep us satisfied with life and happy. In this story we notice that by

Knowledge Is The Measure Of All Things Essay
Matthew Smith; Phil 125w; Paper 4: Skepticism; 2 October 2015
Is Knowledge Possible? First, Theaetetus arrived at a definition that knowledge is the skills, abilities,
and activities that allow people to understand the whole discipline (6). For example, a house builder
has knowledge because he has the skills and abilities to build a house. This is not a plausible definition
of knowledge. This definition describes what one may have knowledge of. It does not give the exact
definition of knowledge. Theaetetus then explained that knowledge is perception (13). In other words,
the experiences people have are what give them knowledge. This is very closely related to Protagoras
definition of man is the measure of all things (14). Theaetetus and Protagoras both claimed man
evaluates everything, but people have different interpretations of the perceptions they see. For
example, someone might perceive an animal as a duck while someone else perceives that same object
as a rabbit. In this case, no one is wrong about the object because both perceptions are correct. This is
not a plausible definition for knowledge. One object cannot be two different things; it needs to have
consistency in order for it to be one object. Theaetetus then described knowledge as true judgment
(60). This cannot be because there are a lot of judgments. Whose judgment is the correct judgment?
Finally, Theaetetus said knowledge is true judgment with an account (80). Accounts are the
understanding of arrangement

Romero Britto is a twentieth and twenty first century pop artist who was born in Recife, Brazil on
October 6, 1963. He is the seventh child of nine and he is currently married to Cheryl Britto with a son
named Brendan. Romero lived an adequate life with his brothers and sister as a child and was first
introduced to art when he was just a young child. He did not capture the full understanding of
becoming an artist for a career until the day his older brother showed him books that were about
famous artists such as Toulouse Launtrec. Britto became inspired and began copying these fine art
pieces from the books the next day. Originally, Britto embraced art to escape from the real world even
through his early twenties when he was working to get into law school. He of course eventually
dropped out of law school to study art in Europe. Britto traveled to Paris where he was introduced to

The Great Divergence Essay
Europe is given special consideration thus far in this class. What made Europe or European
civilization unique in the perspective of some authors? It went from marginal status to powerful region
in a few hundred years. What did this process look like? Be sure to address this at the various levels
(ideological, behavioral, institutional, material etc.). Are there reasons for this dominance that are
more important than others?
Looking back at the world in the past few hundred years, it would have been difficult to imagine that
one day, majority of Western Europe would come to dominate the world in global economy (Landes,
European Exceptionalism: A Different Path, 1998). Frank (2001) described the process of which the

In such environment, policies of scientific and social inactivity could stand because of tradition or
culture. On the other hand, Europe was geographically set in reduced, closer, but with larger number
of groups, surrounded and separated by small rivers and mountains, thus, governments that repressed
economic and scientific development soon amended their errors or were out done rapidly (Pomeranz,
2000).
The early western world benefitted from revenues from trading European products to the Eastern
countries (Pomeranz, 2000). High earnings obtained from trading with eastern countries and sales of
slave established seven percent profit per annum, which is a relatively high rate of return considering
the high rate of depreciation on pre industrial capital stocks, which limited the amount of savings and
capital accumulation , stated Pomeranz (2000). Many theories suggest that the Great Divergence
occurred as a result of trade development from Europe to Asia, which later on became the main factor
of the New World. As, Pomeranz (2000) stated, the greatest significant advantage for Europe was the
vast amount of fertile, uncultivated land in the North America which could be used to grow large
quantities of farm products required to sustain European economic growth and allowed labour and
land to be freed up in Europe for industrialization. A great example of this is how England saved

is because it can be found on old architecture, and also because learning a difficult language exercises
certain parts of the brain. Latin can also be applied in a medical setting for students interested in that

Essay about Sam Phillips, the Father of Rock and Roll
Rock and Roll has come a long way since 1952 when music business icon Sam Phillips created it.
Sam Phillips is considered the father of Rock and Roll. He went against the social normality of
segregated music, and produced music that he felt should be made. Even when faced with career
ending criticism, Phillips continued on making history. Not only is Sam Phillips responsible for the
being the origin of the seemingly everlasting Rock and Roll movement, he segregated music amidst

boundaries in music. Elvis drew national attention to Sun Records which, in part, sparked slight
popularity for other Sun artists such as Howlin Wolf, B.B. King, and Roscoe Gordon (Sun Records 1).
This point in time is known as the origin of Rock and Roll. Contrary to what Rock and Roll is now, it
was only popular within a certain demographic of people for a long time Furthermore, Sun Records
and Sam Phillips went under fire by local radio stations and parents everywhere. Phillips s creation,
Rock and Roll, caused an outrage. It was seen as provocative towards young people, which was its

music moguls didn t stop Sam. Nevertheless, Phillips kept on putting out influential, black music.
Despite the hardening Civil Rights movement in the 1950 s, songs by African American artists slowly
became extremely popular. In 1958, the first black artist reached the top of the billboard hot 100. This
marked the climax of Phillip s goal to make popular music from an unpopular race. Sam Phillips s

Franklin s study (2014) on recess programs in four low socioeconomic status Southern Ontario
schools. In this study, the researchers aimed to explore how recess influences children s interactions
and developmental pathways. They implemented recess programs to suit the needs and interests of
children by providing them with sports equipment as well as many other options for the children to
choose from. Researchers applied recess coordinator positions, which required university students to
volunteer their time to guide students during recess. In addition, they implemented a Junior Recess
leaders program where students from fifth to eighth grade were trained to assist children in conflict
resolution, encourage meaningful play and assist with equipment management. The researchers
explored the students, administrators, teachers and volunteers personal opinions on the recess program
and their findings suggest that recess program provide a supportive environment for the students.
Furthermore, they were able to connect and engage in positive experiences on the playground which
lead to increased feelings of safety and acceptance (McNamara et al., 2014). The researchers used
inductive reasoning by implementing the recess programs, detecting

Mlk Civil Disobedience
MLK s Civil Disobedience in Todays World In Martin Luther King, Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail,
he discusses the duty of citizens to enact civil disobedience when there are immoral actions or laws
put into place. In accordance with Martin Luther King, Jr. this concept applies to our society today
with the recent presidential election of the United States of America. As Donald Trump has been
elected the President of the United States, there have been various acts of civil disobedience because
millions of individuals do not support him in his presidency. Along with this topic, there are two
distinct questions that need to be answered. First, what is civil disobedience in the eyes of Martin
Luther King, Jr.? Second, are Donald Trump protests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has been a massive concern for many anti Trump protestors because they believe that Hillary
Clinton should have won because she won the popular vote. Even though Clinton won the popular
vote, Trump won the Electoral College, which is why he was elected President of the United States.
As King stated, We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of
destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. (King, 1963). This quote applies perfectly
for our countries current status because all of the voters who do not support Trump are tied to him and
his decisions for the next four years. With King s view of civil disobedience, these protestors are not
justified in their protesting of Trump because a process that has been used for hundreds of years
elected him legally. In order for these protestors to civilly disobey in unison with King s views, they
must protest the Electoral College and not the man that the Electoral College elected. Individuals may
not agree with Trump being elected, but until he advocates an immoral political action they must not
protest against him directly. Part of King s beliefs includes him being a Christian and obeying the laws
of the land. For anybody who is elected legally to become President of the United States, those that
follow King s views are subject to obeying the governing authority as they are in accordance with the
laws of God. As King states in his letter, A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral
law, or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. (King,
1963). This means that it is not justified for anti Trump protestors to protest out of anger that their
candidate of the popular vote did not win because it is in accordance with the authority of the
government, which has been in place for

Ivan Denisovich Satire
In the novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn the genre political
satire was used. The genre political satire is an important section of satire that focuses on achieving
entertainment from mocking politics which relate to our society. These types of novels help readers
reflect on their own life style and society, learning how to improve themselves. There were 3 elements
I chose which were used in this novel to display political satire. The three elements are irony, sarcasm
and parody which display this type of genre very well. The novel is about men who are put into camps
by the government and are forced to work and do whatever the commanders want them to do. They
are not given any rights to be free and do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were put in camps and were forced to work for the government who opened the camps. They
thought they would be able to get out once they worked hard, but that never ended up happening. All
they ever got was a big yelling from the higher power as one of the elders had stated, Step out!
shouted the guard. Step out, you in front. To hell with your Step out . The zeks marched with
measured tread, hanging their heads as at a funeral. Now we ve nothing to lose: we d be the last back
anyhow. He wouldn t treat us like human bengs, now let him burst himself shouting. (Solzhenitsyn
102). This novel showed the humor in how they were given a certain amount of time to be in camps,
but they were never being let out. They were already in the camp and were given more sentences if
they did not cooperate with the higher power. For example one of the commanders had said, Well,
look out, team leader. If you go on talking like that I ll out you in the lock up with the rest, Snubnose
promised Tiurin, but mildly. (Solzhenitsyn 131). It was disappointing to see how they worked with all
their energy, but were never appreciated. This problem relates to our societies in our world for
example third world war countries where people are being forced to leave their homes and work at
camps.
The second element which was used in the novel to display political satire was sarcasm. Sarcasm is
something which is used a lot in

A qualitative study to show how other affect individual development, using thematic analysis.
ABSTRACT This study will examine the ways that adults construct their own attachment experiences
and relationships along and how others influence these attachments and their development. The
chosen method for data collection was interviews as they provide full and detailed data for thematic
analysis. Other researchers studying within the social constructionist perspective with a main focus on
attachment found that attachment relationships are a central part of our lives, which can stem from
childhood experiences through to later adult life. There is also some evidence to suggest environment

This type of interview allows room for discussion and the opportunity to speak freely in answer to the
questions giving the participant a more relaxed feeling of a conversation not an interview. The
interview was videotaped as well as transcribed (see appendix one for full transcript) this provides the
researcher with two forms of data each of which would not give the complete picture on their own.
The participant was a 50 year old single British woman which ha been provided by the Open
University, who gained the consent of the participant for the materials to be used. The participant was
fully briefed before the interview and debriefed after the interview, the interviewer also informed the
participant that she had the right to withdraw from the research at any point and also asks for the
consent form to be read and signed. When the interview had been completed thematic analysis was
carried out, re watching the videotape with the transcript to first make descriptions of what is going

Infrastructure Of Infrastructure And Infrastructure
Infrastructure
We are constantly surrounded by infrastructure assets. Infrastructure consists of all the assets that
countries require to enable its daily operations and orderly functions. Transportation, energy,
communications and water, are some of the infrastructure assets that serve as the backbone to our
society. While traveling this summer with my family, I realized just how far behind the U.S. is
compared to other parts of the world when it is considered one of the most advanced countries in the
world. I thought to myself... Why hasn t the U.S. invested in such projects? China spends 7% of its
GDP on infrastructure and India spends 5%. The U.S. spends just over 3%. As a result, U.S.
infrastructure now ranks 14th globally according to the World Economic Forum s infrastructure index.
In the current economic environment where interest rates are low and unemployment remains
elevated, a logical solution to stimulate growth would be to build, modernize, or replace our
infrastructure. Every 4 years, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) releases a Report Card
for America s Infrastructure that represents the condition and performance of the nation s
infrastructure. In 2013, the United States infrastructure grade was a D+. Although we recognize the
report is a little self serving, the statistics behind their research is compelling. According to the report:
the average age of the 84,000 dams in the country is 52 years old, one in nine of the nation s bridges

Speech On Stuttering In School
As a child I suffered from severe stuttering. I came to America at the age of five therefore, English is
not my primary language. This made it difficult for me to learn English. I had the capacity to develop
abstract ideas and understood what was being told to me. I could not articulate what I wanted to say. I
didn t not have the ability to communicate with others around me. My stuttering was so severe that it
stunted my progress in learning English. The bullying I received in school caused me to become mute
for sometime. My perspective at that time was detrimentally negative. In my mind if I am being
bullied for the way I talk than why talk at all. My elementary school ended putting me in ESOL and
special needs classes. I did not apply myself in school at all and had a lot of unpleasant behavioral
incidents. People don t talk about this much, but I whole heartedly feel like my school kept me in
special needs classes because they receive funding for the amount of special needs children they have.
When I reached fourth grade my ESOL teacher looked at my FCAT scores and fought for me to be put
in a regular class. She motivated me to apply myself, which I did. They eventually took me out of
special needs, gave me more hours of ESOL and made me work with an SLP. Overtime, my stuttering
decreased tremendously. Now, when I get nervous my stuttering comes through but not as much as
before. In general the clip from A fish Called Wanda some what shows an accurate depiction of how

Northern Ireland during the 1960 s was a place that was considered unsafe and unfair for any citizen

The American Civil Rights Movement was being broadcast across the world, including Northern
Ireland. It was a considerable factor to the movement in the North. Republican leader Gerry Adams
credits coverage of the black civil rights movement as a contributing factor to an increased
politicisation in Northern Ireland (Dooley, 1998). This demonstrated to the Catholics that there could
be something done, that there was people at the other side of the world in a similar situation.

up across the state to uncover the discrimination, so there would be evidence that could be used to

Marketing Strategy For Single Serve Coffee Products,...
Strategic Issue: Throughout the case, it becomes clear that competition may be hindering your product
from leading the market. A limited amount of compact company resources and the constant
technological advancements may prevent the company from performing to the best of its capabilities.
In order to address this issue, we recommend that you investigate our recommendations to increase
market share by implementing the strategies that will be discussed in this memorandum.
Strategic Analysis:
Strengths: When it comes to the market for single serve coffee products, Keurig holds strong
recognition. Keurig has many popular branding partners such as: Green Mountain Coffee, Bigelow
Tea Company and Caribou Coffee. Other strengths unique to Keurig are the intellectual property and
intangible resources that you possess. Keurig s patents on the machines and their use hold great value.
The widely available nature of Keuring allows for its distribution throughout multiple channels. These
products gain recognition in supermarkets, restaurants, convenience stores, offices, and hotels.
Weaknesses: Keurig s relatively low expenditures on advertising result in a low global recognition.
Green Mountain Coffee Roaster s inability to predict the K Cup demand and warranty issues also
should be considered as weaknesses. With the change in technology, consumers are always expecting
more and Keurig has to keep up with new demands as well as product innovation.
Opportunities: Green

The Plague of American Art
The Plague of American Art In 1965, the American art scene changed forever. When the National
Endowment for the Arts came into being, there was high hopes for a more egalitarian art world that
would spread wide ranging ideas between the coasts, but, in the art world post NEA founding, dark
clouds were forming. The NEA is no longer a sustainable avenue of preserving and producing
American art.. The arts have and will survive the test of time without the National Endowment for the
Arts. According to Katherine Boyle, Individuals have always been the backbone of arts funding
(Boyle). Before 1965, the upper echelons always supported the arts. For example, the Vanderbilts
supported many starving artists like Picasso. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For those who say censorship is the issue at hand here, this is not censorship. This is the banning of
materials that project and ?visualize? not moral, but unlawful acts. ?A sexual torture movie, promoting
rape and other sexual crimes, is not protected by the First Amendment.? Although the NEA s tendency
to fund illegal pieces of art is disdainful, it also has a problem with reckless spending, a government
trademark. $1500 was granted to a poet who wrote the masterpiece that is lighght ( Ten ) This piece of
poetic genius consists of only one word, its title. The NEA has a problem with discretionary spending.
For what reason should a poet need $1500 to write a one word poem? If the private sector was at the
decision table for that grant, there is no way it would fly, so why should the government spend without
a care in the world? The NEA s decisions on budget allocations are deplorable and downright
sickening, but yet it has many more issues plaguing its vile existence. Of the problems the NEA, the
fact that they censor art is the most contradictory to their mission. The NEA has an obscenity clause
which allows the NEA to not fund artworks that are obscene. This gives the government the power to
say what is art and what is not. Justice Souter of the Supreme Court in NEA v. Finley said, The
decency and respect proviso mandates

Julius Ceaser Fate
Some say the death of Julius Ceaser was the outcome of an overly conceited king, desperate to take
the throne. While others argue pride wasn t the issue, the cause of Ceaser s death was merely fate,
caused by the God s determination to set forth Ceaser s destiny, due to dreams and bad omens. As
expressed in the play of Julius Ceaser, Calpurnia s dream had a big impact on this issue. She believed
her dream of Rome s people bathing in the blood of caeser, from Ceaser s statue was a sign, sign that
Bigger and worse events would take place in the near future, that her husband, and future ruler would

  • 2. Aspartic Acid Synthesis Essay Aspartame is a widely used artificial sweetener that is approximately 180 200 times sweeter than sucrose, natural sugar. Because of this, it is typically used in foods and beverages branded as diet (Humphries, Pretorius, and Naudé, 2008). As time passes, more and more studies are being conducted on the harmful effects of this food additive on astrocytes and neurons. When ingested, aspartame is metabolized into phenylalanine (50%), aspartic acid (40%), and methanol (10%), which each affect neuronal cells differently (Ashok, Sheeladevi, and Wankhar, 2014). According to Rycerz and Elżbieta Jaworska Adamu (2013), the excess phenylalanine blocks the transport of amino acids, glutamine, histidine, methionine, serine, threonine, tyrosine and tryptophan, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aspartic acid is a precursor to the commonly used amino acid and neurotransmitter, glutamate. Glutamate is typically present in the body for neurons to use, but the excess glutamate presented from the breakdown of aspartic acid causes over excitation of amino acid receptors, EAAT 1 (GLAST), EAAT 2 (GLT 1) and EAAT 3 (Rycerz and Elżbieta Jaworska Adamu, 2013). Excitation of these receptors induces fast, constant action potentials and release of neurotransmitters at the axon terminal; this requires both the depletion of the cell s ATP storage and the uptake of Ca2+ ions (which leads to the release of the neurotransmitters). However, an influx of calcium ions in a cell can lead to mitochondrial calcium overload the subsequent permeabiltiy of the mitochondrial membrane. Eventually, the cell membrane will permeate as well and reactive oxygen species (ROS) will be released, causing oxidative stress and further damage to surrouding neurons (Ghandi and Ambrov, 2011). This phenomenon is known as exocytoxicity and is directly responsible for the death of dopaminergic neurons, which leads to decreased dopamine levels, decreased communication from the substantia nigra, and, likely, Parkinson s Disease. The last metabolite, methanol, may cause harm to neurons as well by inducing metabolic acidosis from the conversion to formic acid, though it likely does not have a major ... The DASH eating plan as intentions to lower hypertension, USDA food patterns were created for citizens to follow their dietary guidelines, and the Mediterranean diet is not a diet, if is a lifestyle (Wiley, Visualizing Nutrition) that one will normally continue with. Some similarities between the diets are that they all want you to intake the correct amount of food, no more no less, and they all focus on very similar types of food. While reading our Visualizing nutrition book, I learned that all of these eating styles they are all very nutrient dense styles of eating, including fish, other seafoods and proteins, ... Some of these common claims say promise of fast weight loss quantities and imitations, promotes specific food combinations, and no need to be physically active. (WordsonWellness). You never want to all of the sudden and dramatically lose weight, it is far better to gradually lose weight. FAD diets that avoid eating multiple food groups take away the vitamins that the human body needs to survive and be healthy. FAD diets that tell you to eat at certain times are also incorrect, you should eat when you feel hungry but only eat until you are satisfied and not full. Lastly, diets that say you do not need any physical activity may be shedding weight off of your body, but you are not gaining muscle and becoming stronger, in the long term you may even feel weaker. Many people who become apart of the FAD diet community think that their health will improve, in some cases this is inaccurate. Based on what I have learned in past nutrition classes and my own personal experience they can actually be very bad for your health, not just the inside of your body, but the outside too. You may notice muscle and even hair loss. I had a friend who started losing her hair when starting a very common FAD diet. • 5. A Different Point of View of the Vietnam War in Tim... A natural behaviour for humans is trying to relate to other s points of view, one thing most people do not realize is that when you actually experience the event, you will have a different point of view versus trying to relate to it. Tim O Brien, the author of The Things They Carried, had a completely different point of view on war than others who just watched it on the news. The main character and the stories in the book resemble Tim O Brien s life in many ways, one of which is how Tim and the main character both oppose the war but other s point of view about the war makes them conform and go to war anyways. .The Vietnam war, which is the basis of this book, had two opposing groups like all wars. The first was the opposition to U.S ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that [He] would go to war [He] would kill and maybe die because [He] was embarrassed (O Brien 57). He soon realized that he should have escaped when he had the chance because it was better than experiencing the horrors and traumatic experiences that soldiers go through. Sometimes what society thinks can get the best of you and lead you to do things that are against your beliefs and morals. This is what Tim is trying to say through the book to the readers who might find themselves in similar situations. O Brien always questioned the idea of enemies . Throughout the book he questioned in many ways and asked why were they enemies. What have they done to make them enemies, he sought for answers to his questions and eventually justified them by if I don t kill them then they will kill me .He was afraid of both killing, and dying but he knew that if he didn t kill then he himself would be dead. These experiences and suppression of ideas are what led O Brien s to write The Things They Carried. In real life, Tim O Brien feared the war and wrote this book to persuade others and to plant an idea in their head about the horrors that they should not want to suffer. • 6. The Conflict Between Saudi Arabia And Iran It s often thought, in the west, that the feud between Saudi Arabia and Iran is 14 centurys old and that we don t understand it because we (the west) are so dis attached from religion in governance. For example, the end of religious politics in the US is credited with the writings of the English philosopher John Locke and this view on religion became particularly influential in the United States Constitution in 1787 (ref). State figures like Barack Obama showed this in his final State of the Union Address, he called the region a place rooted in conflicts that date back millennia (Obama, 2016). The truth of the situation is, religious politics has been left behind in the west. It s true that the divide in identities within Islam was formed from a religious dispute centuries ago. It s also nothing new that Sunnis and Shia s have been in conflict for decades maybe centuries. The rivalry between the two has had a violent affect in contemporary Middle East stabilization and politics. Sectarianism between Saudi Arabia and Iran shouldn t be concluded as a foreign ancient feud that conflicts modern political logic but rather a modern phenomenon and a product of contemporary politics. Furthermore, it is playing out not in obscure theological forums but in the political arena. Sectarianism has become the product of key factors that play into religion. Throughout his autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth, Gandhi appeals to the readers pathos and carries across his message of maintaining humility through admitting his mistakes, never blaming others, and giving all credit to God. • 10. Classical, Biological And Psychological Theories Early classical, biological and psychological theories have helped shape the burgeoning world of criminology. Many of the ideas they held were unique, however, some key principles are still in use by there modern counterparts. Classical psychological theories, focused on two main concepts; personality and behaviorism. Personality theories helped improve cognitive sciences and behaviorism called attention to social learning with a focus on behavioral conditioning. For example, Ivan Pavlov, a prominent researcher, demonstrated that behavior can be changed by changing conditions associated with the behavior. Personality theories and behavioral conditioning worked, in conjunction, to form the classical psychological theory. (Schmalleger, p.82). This theory attempted to adapt the disease model , which analysts hoped would identify the key elements that provoked mental and emotional issues. (Schmalleger, p.82) Researchers in this field used terms like, mental disease, personality disorder and psychopath to try and define individuals suffering from these mental aliments. However, contemporary psychologists have chosen to modify their main focus. In other words, contemporary analysts have one main study of focus for the people that suffer from mental ailments, psychopathology. For example, current psychologists suggest that depression, schizophrenia, alcoholism, ADHD, and psychopathy are all mental alignments associated with psychopathology; psychopathy has been noted as the ... Physician remuneration accounts for the third largest share of health dollars (15.5%), behind only pharmaceuticals (15.7%) and hospitals (29.5%) (Canadian Institute for Health Information, 2015). These three categories are by far the largest single categories of expenditure and when combined represent 60% of total health spending. In this case the principle is the government, which has an objective of maximizing the health care of Ontario while also efficiently utilizing resources to keep costs low. However the government (principle) cannot achieve this on its own and need physicians (the agent) to carry out the task related to health improvement. The government aims to motivate physician through financial incentives to improve health, nonetheless physicians are always striving to increase their own utility via higher income, which occurs as a direct result of patients visits to the physician which is higher when the population is unhealthy. This represents an endless cycle of repetition, where the government wishes to improve health status but the intrinsic value of physician remuneration is a direct result of the lack of health in the population. This results in the fee for service model being both technically inefficient and costly since physicians have a financial incentive to over utilize resources such as conducting exams that may not necessarily be needed. Furthermore due to the nature of Universal health care patients also have also a tendency to over utilize health services, as individuals do not personally incur costs for accessing health services. This leads to the expressed demand curve of health care being higher than it should if it were solely based on necessity (Figure 1). Each extra unnecessary access of healthcare provides diminishing marginal benefit in large part due to opportunity cost. If a patient did not access said health care their time could have gone towards a different activity that has a higher marginal benefit. As a result true marginal social benefit is lower than modeled and utility decreases overall as the public healthcare model and fee for service model for physicians results in over utilization regardless of the ... • 15. Essay On Cuban Embargo Embargoes are restrictions on trade between countries used to achieve some kind of goal. The United States has imposed an embargo on Cuba to encourage the Cuban government to change the way they run themselves because the United States does not agree with the system of government they have in place. This embargo enacts total restrictions on trade and travel between the United States and Cuba. The United States embargo against Cuba should be lifted because it is doing more harm than good to both countries involved. To start, embargoes in the United States started with Jefferson s Embargo of 1807 ( The Embargo of 1807 ). Embargoes are put in place by countries in hopes to maintain or restore peace between countries ( Sanctions, Embargoes and Restrictions ). They can be enacted for a number of different reasons including moral, political, or environmental objections or concerns (Berkheimer). Although, every day, it seems that our coral reefs are becoming endangered. While these coral reefs are important to us, they are in great danger of being nonexistent. First of all, a coral reef is defined as a ridge of rock in the sea formed by the growth and deposit of coral. Algae is known for providing a source of food for the smaller fish and invertebrate sea life. Then they are also known for acting like glue while helping the reefs grow larger and stronger. Then in the reefs, are also seagrasses. These seagrasses can grow very rapidly growing, and in return, they help trap sediment loads near the reefs. The seagrass can also provide a habitat for smaller fish, invertebrate animals, sea turtles, and even manatees. One of the final plants is the mangroves. Mangroves are plants that can help support a very wide range of reef fishes and other marine life. The roots of the mangrove trees act as a nursery for young reef fishes by giving them an are that is not very well seen. They are able to breed, and the smaller fish are able to grow away from predators. Then there are also animals that live in the reefs. Some of these animals are predators, while some are not. Some of these animals include sea snakes, sea turtles, manatees, dugongs, sponges, crustaceans, and mollusks. These sea snakes are said to be venomous, so scuba divers and fishers are recommended to stay away from them. Then there are the sea turtles. Final Draft By: Emily Chang Class: 6(2) Subject: English Teacher: Mr. Kris(Smith) Imagine you are a dolphin swimming happily in the ocean with the other dolphins. Suddenly, you hear something terrible, and that makes you feel extremely uncomfortable. You swim towards somewhere safe to get away from that terrible sound. However, when you get in, you realize it is a trap! You have been caught! You might be sent to an aquarium or killed to be made into sushi. With the materials necessary and the process that had to take place in a certain order, at certain times, it really is a wonder that we are here. What is even more impressive is that we have managed to evolve past single celled organisms, and into intelligent life forms. With our increased intelligence, there coincides an increased number of questions that need answers. Does other life exist? What do planets need to support life? Where do we go from here? Throughout this paper, I hope to answer these questions, or at least provide some evidence as to what we know so far. The focus will mainly be on the different types of habitable zones, what special resources and properties are required for a potentially habitable planet within one of these zones, and what this all means. Types Circumstellar Habitable Zone A circumstellar habitable zone refers to the habitability potential within a planetary system, and is usually used in reference to one almost identical to our own (Gonzalez, 2005). Water is one of the most important factors that most all scientists agree is necessary at this stage of habitability (Gonzalez, 2005). From there, however, there is some controversy as to what important resources and properties make a planet habitable. Some of the commonly discussed factors include mass, rotation period, obliquity, distance from sun, atmosphere composition, and the list could go on and on forever (Gonzalez, 2005). ... • 30. Knowledge Is The Measure Of All Things Essay Matthew Smith; Phil 125w; Paper 4: Skepticism; 2 October 2015 Is Knowledge Possible? First, Theaetetus arrived at a definition that knowledge is the skills, abilities, and activities that allow people to understand the whole discipline (6). For example, a house builder has knowledge because he has the skills and abilities to build a house. This is not a plausible definition of knowledge. This definition describes what one may have knowledge of. It does not give the exact definition of knowledge. Theaetetus then explained that knowledge is perception (13). In other words, the experiences people have are what give them knowledge. This is very closely related to Protagoras definition of man is the measure of all things (14). Theaetetus and Protagoras both claimed man evaluates everything, but people have different interpretations of the perceptions they see. For example, someone might perceive an animal as a duck while someone else perceives that same object as a rabbit. In this case, no one is wrong about the object because both perceptions are correct. This is not a plausible definition for knowledge. One object cannot be two different things; it needs to have consistency in order for it to be one object. Theaetetus then described knowledge as true judgment (60). This cannot be because there are a lot of judgments. Whose judgment is the correct judgment? The early western world benefitted from revenues from trading European products to the Eastern countries (Pomeranz, 2000). High earnings obtained from trading with eastern countries and sales of slave established seven percent profit per annum, which is a relatively high rate of return considering the high rate of depreciation on pre industrial capital stocks, which limited the amount of savings and capital accumulation , stated Pomeranz (2000). Many theories suggest that the Great Divergence occurred as a result of trade development from Europe to Asia, which later on became the main factor of the New World. As, Pomeranz (2000) stated, the greatest significant advantage for Europe was the vast amount of fertile, uncultivated land in the North America which could be used to grow large quantities of farm products required to sustain European economic growth and allowed labour and land to be freed up in Europe for industrialization. Sam Phillips is considered the father of Rock and Roll. He went against the social normality of segregated music, and produced music that he felt should be made. Even when faced with career ending criticism, Phillips continued on making history. Not only is Sam Phillips responsible for the being the origin of the seemingly everlasting Rock and Roll movement, he segregated music amidst all kinds of cultural disruption with civil rights. Elvis drew national attention to Sun Records which, in part, sparked slight popularity for other Sun artists such as Howlin Wolf, B.B. King, and Roscoe Gordon (Sun Records 1). This point in time is known as the origin of Rock and Roll. Contrary to what Rock and Roll is now, it was only popular within a certain demographic of people for a long time Furthermore, Sun Records and Sam Phillips went under fire by local radio stations and parents everywhere. Phillips s creation, Rock and Roll, caused an outrage. It was seen as provocative towards young people, which was its most popular demographic. Music from artists such as Elvis, King, and Gordon were banned from radio stations and televisions (Impact of Rock Roll on USA 5). Criticism from other well known music moguls didn t stop Sam. Nevertheless, Phillips kept on putting out influential, black music. Despite the hardening Civil Rights movement in the 1950 s, songs by African American artists slowly became extremely popular. In 1958, the first black artist reached the top of the billboard hot 100. This marked the climax of Phillip s goal to make popular music from an unpopular race. As Donald Trump has been elected the President of the United States, there have been various acts of civil disobedience because millions of individuals do not support him in his presidency. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has been a massive concern for many anti Trump protestors because they believe that Hillary Clinton should have won because she won the popular vote. Even though Clinton won the popular vote, Trump won the Electoral College, which is why he was elected President of the United States. As King stated, We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. (King, 1963). This quote applies perfectly for our countries current status because all of the voters who do not support Trump are tied to him and his decisions for the next four years. With King s view of civil disobedience, these protestors are not justified in their protesting of Trump because a process that has been used for hundreds of years elected him legally. In order for these protestors to civilly disobey in unison with King s views, they must protest the Electoral College and not the man that the Electoral College elected. Individuals may not agree with Trump being elected, but until he advocates an immoral political action they must not protest against him directly. Part of King s beliefs includes him being a Christian and obeying the laws of the land. For anybody who is elected legally to become President of the United States, those that follow King s views are subject to obeying the governing authority as they are in accordance with the laws of God. As King states in his letter, A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law, or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. (King, 1963). Infrastructure consists of all the assets that countries require to enable its daily operations and orderly functions. Transportation, energy, communications and water, are some of the infrastructure assets that serve as the backbone to our society. While traveling this summer with my family, I realized just how far behind the U.S. is compared to other parts of the world when it is considered one of the most advanced countries in the world. I thought to myself... Why hasn t the U.S. invested in such projects? China spends 7% of its GDP on infrastructure and India spends 5%. The U.S. spends just over 3%. As a result, U.S. infrastructure now ranks 14th globally according to the World Economic Forum s infrastructure index.
