The Bataan Death March By Glenn Frazier
Glenn Frazier, a survivor of the Bataan Death March states, If we had known what was ahead of
us at the beginning of the Bataan Death March, I would ve taken death. The Bataan Death
March was extremely brutal, which left many survivors thinking if they should have died at the
beginning of the march. During the Bataan Death March, the Americans and Filipinos were
forced to walk 65 miles in five to twelve days without food or water while enduring regular
beatings ( Bataan Death March, 1942 ) . During the march, the Japanese would treat the prisoners
of war (POWs) in a brutal manner leaving only 987 survivors out of 76,000 prisoners ( New
Mexico National Guard s involvement in the Bataan Death March ). The Americans were horrified

Bushido means way of the warrior . The Code of Bushido was followed by the ancient Japanese,
which respected the ways of warrior. It was a code that taught the Japanese dedication and
respect for their Emperor and their family. The code had required warriors to exhibit a strict
sense of honor and self control, maintain a benevolent yet detached attitude towards life, care for
the Earth and other people, and be loyal to one s country and family. However, the Emperor had
used the Code of Bushido to brainwash and control soldiers. The Emperor used it as a tool to
motivate the people to murder and die for the code. According to the Japanese, if you
surrendered, you would disappoint your family and country. In World War II when the Japanese
were held prisoner in Cowra prison in Australia, many of them changed their names so that their
parents assumed they were dead rather than disappointing them. The Code of Bushido made the
Japanese treat the Americans and Filipinos in a savage and brutal manner. Moreover, the
Japanese s treatment of prisoners affected how Americans saw them. The Americans believed the
Japanese were brutal human beings. The Americans saw them as that because during the Bataan
Death March, if you stopped marching, the Japanese would kill you with a bayonet or rifle.
Then, if you tried to help someone who fell, you would get beaten or stabbed. Also for a sport,
Japanese soldiers would fracture sculls with rifle butts. Mostly, the prisoners would receive almost
to no food or water and they were forced to walk 65

Below is a pattern, which is used to predict trends:
Season Target Market Consumer Colors Fabrics Silhouette Texture Usage (Singh 2016)
The graph above shows a very interesting cycle of Fashion. Understanding fashion trends forecast
is one of the most useful and money making technique used in the world of fashion. Most fashion
designers and fashion houses use it in order to predict future trends and by that boost their sales.
There are loads of elements, which contribute to fashion forecasting, one of them is seasons. Each
season, the departments that deal with design, employs an agency to find out what will be in
trend for coming seasons. They very heavily rely on creating new garments using valuable data
collected by the agencies. Trend forecasts are based on all four seasons. They expect to see Earthy
tones in autumn, jewel colours in winter, the pastels of flowers in early spring, and refreshing white
and bright colours for the summer. Another aspect of trend forecasting is Market Intelligence. The
marketing intelligence cycle whether its apparel or other business houses typically consists of
directing, collecting, compiling, cataloguing, analyzing and form filled up data by consumers
therefore making it easier for industry to create product which is market based. (Singh 2016)

Why Dairy Should Not Be A Primary Food Group On Dietary...
Dairy should not be a primary food group on the dietary guidelines set by the government because
of its many negative effects on human health (given that people care about their health and the
health of those around them). Dairy and other animal products are the only food sources which
contain cholesterol. Arguments have been made saying that humans need to consume cholesterol in
order to have a healthy balance of fats; these arguments fail to acknowledge that our bodies
naturally produce all the cholesterol that it needs. And many studies have been conducted to
support the theory that consumption of dietary cholesterol overloads arteries and can cause heart
disease, artery disease, as well as sudden heart attacks. The Department of Community Health and
Preventative Medicine at Northwestern University Medical School worked to interpret an
international study based on data from the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World
Health Organization. The overall conclusion was that ...dietary cholesterol levels are consistently
related to CHD (coronary heart disease) mortality rates (Stamler). A study conducted by Lena
Ohlsson at the Laboratory of Gastroenterology and Nutrition within the prestigious Lund
University in Sweden also linked dietary cholesterol and milk fat with artery disease and other
metabolic disorders. In short, the abstract of her lab report said that low density lipoprotein (LDL)
bad cholesterol was found to be directly associated with coronary artery

Helping The People Who First Learn Educational Psychology...
Theorise are very important to help the people who first learn educational psychology. It could help
learners understand the factors of human development and it could also guide us how to be a great
educator in the future. There are many different developments in educational psychology, such as
cogntive development, social, emotional and moral development. Each development is significant
and we have to go through. In this essay, I am going to introduce two theorists different theories on
cogntive and identity development.
Cognitive development is concerned with our ability to think, to reason, and to understand and
remember the world around us. It involves mental processes that are associated with taking in,
organising and making sense of information processes that include perceiving, attending to,
understanding and recalling information. These mental funstions are part of what is referred to as
cognition(Duchesne McMaugh, 2016). There was a person who made a great contribution to
cognitive development. He was a very famous child psychologist and he was also one of the first
theorists to attempt to comprehensively describe the process of cognitive development of children.
He observed children and questioned them about the way they solved problems. His work changed
the way we think about cognitive development(Duchesne McMaugh, 2016). It was Jean Piaget. He
proposed four stages of cognitive development: the sensorimotor stage, preoperational stage,

Reflection Paper On Dead Man Walking
Assignment #1 The movie Dead Man Walking was based on a true story about a nun named
Sister Helen Prejean who counseled multiple prisoners on death row. Matthew Poncelet was a
fictional character, but the movie showed how Sister Helen would be a spiritual advisor for
prisoners like him in real life. I felt throughout the movie that Sister Helen stayed very neutral
about her views on the death penalty. I think Sister Helen knew that Poncelet was still going to
be executed, but despite that her goal was to help him repent and seek forgiveness from God
before his execution actually happened. At first, I was taken back that sister Sister Helen would
agree to go visit Poncelet in jail and try to help and counsel him while he was locked up because
as a person so deep in their faith as she was, why would she go and help someone who committed
such a heinous act against two innocent teens? Poncelet, and another accomplice, were accused
of kidnapping, raping, and murdering two teenagers as they were parked in their car. The
families of the victims became furious when they found out Sister Helen was helping Poncelet
appeal his case. They felt betrayed by Sister Helen that she would go and accompany the person
that took their child s life. Sister Helen stayed by Poncelet all the way up until the day he was
executed. When Poncelet was being brought into the room where he was going to receive lethal
injections, Sister Helen kept her hand on his shoulder the entire time and read him

The greatest challenge in clinical research trials is the development of bioactive surgical additives
to reduce the post operative signs and symptoms by regulating inflammation and increase the
speed of healing process. [1] An extensive intra cellular and extra cellular set of event are carried

Capillary action is part of the reason that water rises in a plant stem and moves throughout the plant.
When water enters into the plant s roots and moves to other parts of the plant through tiny tube like
structures called xylem.
This movement is called capillary action, which is one part of the plants transpiration
system.Several processes work together to transport water from where a plant absorbs it upward
through the rest of its body. To understand how these processes work, you first need to know one
key feature of water: Water molecules tend to stick together, literally.
What is transpiration?
Transpiration is the technical term for the evaporation of water from plants. As water evaporates

xylem. The negative pressure exerts a pulling force on the water in the plant s xylem and draws
the water upward.Transpiration is the process of water movement through a plant and its
evaporation from aerial parts, such as leaves, stems and flowers. Water is necessary for plants but
only a small amount of water taken up by the roots is used for growth and metabolism.

The Temple Of Divus Augustus
Zackary Marion
Miss. Jackson
World History
27 October 2015
The Temple of Divus Augustus was a major temple originally built to commemorate the first Roman
emperor, Augustus. The temple was built between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, and behind the
Basilica Julia. The temple was built on the site of the house where Augustus inhabited before he
entered the public life around the mid 1st century BC. It is known from Roman currency that his
temple was originally built to a hexagon style design. The size, physical proportions and exact site
are unknown. Provincial temples of Augustus, like the smaller Temple of Augustus in Pula, now in
Croatia, had already been constructed during his lifetime. Most likely because of the popular
resistance to the notion Augustus was not officially adored in Rome until after his death. That s
also when a temple at Nola in Campania, (where he died), seems to have been begun. After that
multiple temples were dedicated to him all over the Roman Empire.

The construction of the temple took place during the 1st century AD. Having been vowed by the
Roman Senate shortly after the death of the emperor in 14 AD. Ancient sources disagree on
whether it was constructed by Augustus s successor Tiberius and Augustus s widow Livia or by
Tiberius alone. It wasn t until after the death of Tiberius in 37AD that the temple was finally
completed and dedicated by his successor

Introduction
The Falklands War, or La Guerra de Las Malvinas in Spanish, also referred to as The South
Atlantic War. It was a small, but furiously loud conflict between two countries across different
ends of the globe, both fighting for a few small islands in which most of the population farm
sheep for a living. Before going any deeper into the essay, the selected topic is personally a very
difficult area to delve into, as my Argentine background has always made me see this conflict
differently. This is from the prolonged exposure to Argentine culture, which the Falkland War
greatly affected, including my family and friend s history to the war, and events around it, which is
also why I chose it.
The history of the Islands has already had a long history before the war, in 1690 a British sailor
John Strong discovers the islands, half a decade later, and they claim the Islands as a British
Colony. During Britain s, delayed claim, Spain joins into the dividing of the islands, later France
also intervenes with the colony, managing to get a slice too. Between 1764 and 1767, initiated by

takeover through complaints about them not leaving the

The Importance Of Seeing The Philadelphia Orchestra...
Last year I had the privilege of seeing the Philadelphia Orchestra perform Gustav Holst s: The
Planets Suite. The piece as a whole is one that pulls the strings of your heart from the first pound
to the last mystic moment of silence. It has been a year since I heard the orchestral piece in full,
and ever since, I have been awaiting to get an opportunity like that again. It is unfortunately a rare
occurance in my generation to feel so strongly about a piece of art. The world is at our fingertips,
and yet we have no urge to explore it.
According to Gustav, the Planets were a depiction of life and the many stages of its progression. As
a young adult and musician this suite inspired a new way of seeing, feeling, and hearing life.
Thierry Fischer, a music director at Utah Symphony wrote, Holst denied that the suite has any
connection to the classical Zodiac other than the names and traits of the personified planets, that
connection by itself is enough for the music to conjure strong images of the mythological deities
associated with each.
Mars, the bringer of war, begins with five quiet yet dominant beats in a reverberating 5/4 rhythm. As
the movement continues we hear the grinding minor chords, which leaves the ear unsettled. Mars is
said to be an obvious illustration of war, the depressing and frightening steady march of soldiers as
they walk toward the unknown. Throughout the entire movement there is no clear harmonic
release, the chromaticism just sways back and forth.

The Time Of Cholera By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Essay
Is Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez s legendary novel, Love in the Time of Cholera, truly a love story ?
Unfortunately, GarcГa MГЎrquez does not deal in the art of drug store romance novels, as the
narrative of Love in the Time of Cholera cannot be reduced to its themes, or moral schema.
(Wilson 280) His novel does not feed us a singular concept of true lovein the same way such
notions have been popularized in western media and literature it is far more complex and
multifarious than such, which is part of the reason Love in the Time of Cholera maintains such
high critical acclaim. It is not one, singular love story with black and white division between true
and illusionary romance, but a twist on such. Love in the Time of Cholera is rather a story of
many loves from Florentino and Fermina, to Fermina and Dr. Urbino, to Fermina and Hildebranda,
to Florentino and his lovers, and so on; all the loves in this novel are genuine, and are nothing
besides love.
Of course, the author himself expresses that all the stories he has written are love stories , but in
the case of the dysfunctional romances in Love in the Time of Cholera, do the principles of
conventional true love hold true?
There is plenty of evidence that it does not. Florentino Ariza, as pointed out by Fermina Daza, is in
love with an illusion he is in love with the idea of love, rather than feeling genuine passion for
Fermina as a person. Marriage, which by conventional standards should be a testament to

How Does Marjane Satrapi Use Feminism In Persepolis
Persepolis
In this essay, I will be writing about the concept toward feminism that is indicated in the book

Termination for Convenience Clauses in Building...
1. Infrastructure, building and construction contracts often contain so called termination for
convenience provisions, operating independently of breach, default or frustration. Termination of a
contract has been considered as the legal consequence of certain kinds of breach, repudiation or
frustration. Frustration is automatic. Breach and repudiation arise where default has occurred. 2.
Provisions for termination at the convenience of, or at the will of the contracting parties, or any
one or more of them, have become known as termination for convenience provisions (referred to
in this paper as TFC ) or termination at will provisions. 3. TFC can be invoked in circumstances
agreed by the contracting parties (for example, at... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decision in The Amphitrite was controversial, but the existence of the doctrine was not. Thus,
citing The Amphitrite, Mason J. said: in the absence of specific words, an undertaking which
would affect the exercise of discretionary powers to be exercised for the public good, should not
be imputed to the Commonwealth . 10. Although the existence of the principle was not doubted,
the reasoning of Rowlatt J. seemed to be that no contract existed at all because of the doctrine. The
reasoning suggested an absence of capacity to contract. If so, The Amphitrite was wrongly decided .
The circumstances in which the doctrine applied and consequences of its application have not
proceeded on the basis of an absence of capacity in the Crown and its instrumentalities to contract.
Rather, issues of damages for breach or compensation were pursued. 11. There is no doubt about the
existence of the Doctrine in Australia and the United Kingdom. Its application was implicit and
overriding, albeit within a narrow compass. A contract validly entered, could not bind a government
or statutory corporation from exercising its statutory powers, absent some statutory prohibition, to
the prejudice of the other party. Strictly, properly invoking the doctrine was not a breach of
contract. Neither was it a frustrating event. It did not sound in damages contrary to the argument of
Hogg. Invoking the doctrine to terminate a contract may be the subject of administrative review

Millionaire Next Door Reflection
With the book Millionaire Next Door written by Thomas J. Stanley, Ph.D. and William D. Danko
goes into detail in explaining different stories and examples of how millionaires made their
millions. Throughout this book, I learned five points that I ll be explaining in how I want to
include these points in my life from everything takes time and energy, why being frugal is
important, why you are not what you drive, whether I m a PAW or a UAW and why education is
important and how I ll be adding them into my and my family lifestyle when it comes to financial
needs.

When looking at UAW or a PAW I really looked at my upbringing and saw that my parents where
UAWS. They worked a lot, which made them good money, they spent a lot, they charged a lot of
debts, if we needed something we bought it, and most things we wanted, we bought, didn t save
much. As my parents got older they had to become PAWs from not working as much they really
look at their money, they save, really budget and really think about their spending habits. They buy
their basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter and save for the extra stuff they may need. For
myself, because of my parents and with not working full time and being a full time student. I
have had to be a PAW it s something I m still working on, by saving more and watching my
spending. The fifth and last point I learned from The Millionaire Next Door was the one thing they
kept saying all throughout the book. That every millionaire had a good education and if they didn t
they made sure that their children and grandchildren got a good education. I think this is so
important as well getting an education is a must nowadays with any career field and it s important
that women and their daughters go to college. It encourages one to want

Michael Mann s The Last Of The Mohicans
In 1992, director Michael Mann decided to create a remake of the American classic The Last of
the Mohicans, written by James Fenimore Cooper. The Last of the Mohicans is a novel that takes
place during the French and Indian War. The reader is taken through the story through the last
surviving members of the Mohican tribe and the British as they fight against the French and
survive attacks from the Huron Indians. Though Mann changes some details of the story slightly,
the overall story remains the same. The film follows Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingachgook as they
become involved with the British fight against the French when a British caravan, set up by the
native scout Magua, is attacked by Huron Indians. They end up having to escort Col. Monroe s
daughter s Cora and Alice to the safety of their father s fort. However, when they arrive, the fort is
on the verge of being taken by the French. The British and French forces work out a treaty before
the Huron Indians end up breaking their treaty and attack the British once again. They reach
temporary safety, but they are eventually captured by the Hurons. The group eventually finds their
way out of the Huron camp, but must fight to save Alice. The group tracks down... Show more

The most notable use of this is through the character of Magua. Magua is a Huron Indian who
acts as a spy for the French army. He consistently switches back and forth from his Native tongue
to English. An early example of this is when Magua leads the British caravan into an ambush.
When Maj. Duncan Heyward demands that the caravan stop in order for the women to rest. The
British Major asks Magua, do you understand? Magua responds in his native language, Magua
understands white men is a dog to his women. When they want to eat, he puts down his tomahawk
to feed their laziness . By using his native tongue, he is able to hide his scorn for the Europeans and
his motives for the resulting

Introduction. Anterograde Amnesia Is The Inability To Form
Introduction
Anterograde amnesia is the inability to form new memories, while keeping old memories intact.
People who suffer from this impairment, are unable to encode new memories into long term
memory but are able to keep them in short term. The movie Fifty First Dates portrays this type of
amnesia accurately and inaccurately. The main protagonists of Fifty First Dates are Lucy, played
by Drew Barrymore, and Henry, played by Adam Sandler. Lucy suffers from anterograde amnesia
due to brain damage. For the most part, the movie is accurate to the impairment and is almost
exactly the same as the impairment patients suffer from.

In the movie Fifty First Dates Lucy has permanent brain damage due to a car accident. ... Show

Procedural memory is usually memories associated with muscle memory where her body
remembers it even if she does not. This is also true to the type of amnesia. She even dreams about
Adam Sandler s character even though she is not sure how she knows him. Somehow, her
encounters with him are encoded even though she doesn t remember them explicitly.
A Real Life Example: FL and Similarities from the Movie
What is most interesting is that the movie seems to be based off of a real incident. Smith et. al
(2010) wrote about a special case of a patient named FL. She was in a car accident in 2005 and
reported difficulty retaining information from one day to the next. She describes her memory as
unaffected over the course of the day but when she falls asleep, the memory for each day
disappears. FL also, is able to recall things from before her accident. Lucy, a fictional character
created for a movie, shares many things in common with FL, thus showing that the film is
accurate to the disorder. It also is interesting to know that FL like Lucy was somehow able to
remember something s. According to Smith et. al (2010), For some tests, unbeknownst to FL,
material learned on the previous day was intermixed with material learned on the same day as the
test. In other words, FL sometimes mixed in previously learned material that she did not recall
learning due to her impairment with material that she learned that day. This idea of intermixing
material was also accurate

Go Back To Where You Came From Discovery
Unexpected discoveries can provoke both positive and negative changes within an individual. The
context of an individual is what influences their process of discovery and shapes their response to
confronting situations. Discoveries that cause positive changes within an individual s outlook are
exemplified through Ivan O Mahoney s documentary, Go Back To Where You Came From.
Provocative situations provide the participants with information that was once unknown, allowing
them to understand the circumstances in which refugees leave their country. This text demonstrates
that unexpected discoveries have the potential to alter the perspective of the individual and that the
personal growth of each participant is impacted by their experiences of and... Show more content on

Through Go Back To Where You Came From, the notion of challenging preconceived beliefs is
highlighted through the cinematic technique of personal interviews. Participants experience
enlightening interactions with people they believed to be criminals through manipulated situations,
which lead them to unexpected discoveries. Raye s statement in the opening sequence, I could ve
shot the lot of them , is later juxtaposed with I had no idea that it was that bad ... its not easy to

coming from. Through the delayed backing music, responders are left sitting in the raw emotion of
Raye s confessional monologue, which captivates the audience. This paired with a close up shot,
conveys the intensity of this scene and demonstrates how past experiences, that have shaped
predetermined beliefs, are challenged through the individual s response to unexpected discoveries.
It is evident that through relatable and meaningful interactions with refugees, participants such as
Raye Colby, are able to recognise the extent of their emotional capacity, in which past experiences

One of the improvement initiatives that the company has been engaged with over the years is
improving the terms of its employees. These terms include their basic pay, overtime pay, rest

Generational Differences in the Classroom
Most people have a learning style that mirrors how they were taught when they were younger. It
should be noted that there is not a one size fits all method when it comes to learning. The key to
being able to appeal to each of the different generations is to offer diversity in teaching styles in
order to satisfy the different preferences. As of now, there are four generations that are in the
workforce and those four generations are: The Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and
the Millennials. This paper will examine the characteristics of these four generations, how their

It is important for these adult students to have time to understand concepts that involve the use of
technology. The next generation to be examined is the Baby Boomers, the Baby Boomers were
born in the early 1940 s to early 1960 s. This generation occupies a lot of top executive roles in the
workforce and are not retiring as they were expected to (Levonius, 2015). The Baby Boomers were
taught to grow up questioning authority and standing up for themselves when they needed to.
Around the time this generation was in school there was a grade inflation in the educational system,
and the Boomer s strived to achieve these high grade marks. Baby Boomers were taught in a linear
fashion, they were taught by lecture, and the technology they had included overhead projectors and
some videos (Warren, 2012). Since this generation was accustomed to trying to achieve high grades
they became achievement oriented adults. Education was quite a bit different from earlier
generations in this era (Olson, 2011). There was more emphasis placed on students to finish high
school, and for the first time in history more students were attending college. From both the size
of the generation as well as their impact to society, Baby Boomers have strong sense of self and a
desire for involvement in their world, particularly at work (Olson, 2011). They have a strong work

Sports Mascots Research Paper
The Sports Mascots Scam There is a contentious argument about whether to use controversial
Native American mascots and nicknames for schools or sports organizations. One side is to
allow some organizations to keep the mascots, and others vote to have other mascots be banned
and force the organizations to change the names. However, due to the positive benefits of costs,
and tradition, schools and sports organizations should not ban the use of controversial mascots
even though some mascots can provoke negative stereotypes against them. To start off, the cost
of a university or sports team to have to change the name would be incredibly expensive for that
team. The reason it would be so expensive for these organizations and teams is because they
would have to replace the paint on the locker rooms, the stadium and the uniforms. For example,
according to the Bleacher Report, the Oregon Ducks alone spent 1.3 million dollars on just
uniforms. With 1.4 million dollars, you can buy a brand new Ferrari LaFerrari which can go over
217 mph! In effect of making teams change their names, it would cost a team alone over 1.3
million dollars.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Buachaillin Should Be Banned
Listening Journal An Buachaillin Ban is a tune that is a sean nГІs, and thus considered a traditional
Irish song. There are no instruments and it is sung solo and in the Gaelic language. The melody
is unmetered with a varying rhythm in each verse and likely based on the young lady s own
pattern of speech. Because the song is unaccompanied, the singer is using a great deal of
ornamentation to give the tune more interest and aesthetic appeal. She has a small bit of nasal
timbre that is more noticeable at the end of certain phrases and, using some vibrato, she slides her
notes to join words or phrases together. The ornamentation differs in each verse adding character to
the very long and very stylized melody. She is telling a story and though... Show more content on

Around the 1:47 mark the tune changes and switches from The Reel of Rio to The Woman of
the House . Both tunes have an extremely fast rhythm and are written in 4/4 time making them
simple quadruple metered with 4 beats per measure. The rhythmic pattern appears to repeat
itself in binary form, though it is difficult to follow. The tone in The Reel of Rio distinctly
changes from low to high after two measures and in The Woman of the House the tone remains
mostly the same up to the end. Both tunes are reels , which is the most popular tune type within
the Irish dance music tradition (Reel). As with all reels, they have the same structure, consisting
largely of quaver (eighth note) movement with an accent on the first and third beats of the bar.
(Reel). These accents make it difficult for this writer to count out the beats and therefore, unable
to imagine dancing to these tunes. Bibliography Cervantees, Lorna Dee. Gaughan The World

Wallace Stevens will always be remembered as one of the great modernist American Poets.
Wallace Stevens ability to transcend the limits of experience, combined with his technical
prowess as a poet, makes for otherworldly poetry of the everyday world. You can see this in his
poem simply titled Anecdote of the Jar . On first glance, this poem seems insignificant and not
very interesting but if you look at it closely the beauty shines through. The poem can seem dry
and boring when he describes the jar, And round it was... the jar was gray and bare (lines 2 and
10). Even though these lines might seem boring it is part of Stevens Imagist poetry style that
stressed absolute precision in presenting the image itself rather than oblique description. Another
interesting aspect of Stevens poetry is that it can be perceived multiple ways. The jar was round
upon the ground / And tall and of port in the air. This line could be read as the jar being round, tall,
and large; or the port could be a metaphor comparing the jar and air to the port and sea, a passage
way (lines 7 8). It (the jar) did not give of bird or bush. The line could be perceived

The Life Of Jesus Christ And Paul The Apostle
The Life of Jesus Christ and Paul the Apostle The Survey of the New Testament course covered a
vast amount of material. A person with no knowledge of the Bible could absorb a wealth of sacred
information. Jesus Christ and Paul the Apostle covered a great amount of material in the New
Testament. Throughout this paper, I discuss the life of JesusChrist and the life of Paul the Apostle
and their extraordinary missions they accomplished that led to faith in Christianity.
The Life of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ had a remarkable life with a mission to spread the good word
of God. A few of Jesus apostles wrote historical gospels of Jesus life; some of this information
includes His beginning, His teaching, His sacrifice, and His resurrection.
In the Beginning
The Bible contains scripture and prophecy of Jesus before and after His birth. In the beginning,
some of historical topics included His genealogy, His learning, His baptism, His test, and His

Virgin Mary conceived the Son of God by the Holy Spirit while engaged to Joseph the son of

their neighbors, whom they have always considered upstanding people, are committing absurd and

Propolis Lab Report
Purpose; The antioxidant properties of Capparis spinosa honey and propolis and the effect of
combined honey and propolis administration on urine volume and electrolytes were studied in rats.
Material and methods; Capparis spinosa honey (1g/kg.b.wt), propolis (100 mg/kg.b.wt), honey
/propolis mixture (100 mg/1g/kg.b.wt), distilled water (1 ml/kg.b.wt) and furosemide (10 mg
/kg.b.wt) were orally administered to five groups of rats for 21 days. Urine volume, blood and urine
sodium, potassium and chloride were measured. The antioxidant activity of propolis and the honey
was assessed and their total phenols and flavonoids were determined.
Results; Propolis and Capparis spinosa honey contain polyphenols including flavonoids and propolis
demonstrated higher antioxidant activities than honey. Honey significantly increased urine volume
and urine electrolyte excretion. Propolis has no significant effect on urine volume but co
administration of propolis and honey caused significant diuresis. No major changes were observed
in plasma electrolytes with use of honey, propolis or their combination.
Conclusion; Honey and propolis have antioxidant activity and contain polyphenols including
flavonoids that were more pronounced in propolis. Honey has a significant diuretic activity alone or
in combination with propolis. This is the first study comparing the diuretic effect of co
administration of propolis and Capparis spinosa honey with furosemide.

Importance Of Classroom Behavior Procedures And Practices...
Public schools should be aimed to provide instructional programs that nurture the educational
victories of all students and shape people who can give in positive ways back towards the society. If
all schools work hard to promote successful school experiences for students with emotional
behavior disorders (EBD), the challenging task of nurturing these students becomes less stressful
with the implementation of several cohesive programs that effectively meet the multiple needs of
these students. This paper was written on the belief that with the implementation of researched
based behaviormethods that help to correct the behavior of EBD students, will result in long term
positive results.
Part One: Classroom Behavior Procedures and Practices for EBD students
Classroom teachers can use the same corrective practices to diminish the disruptive behavior of
students with disabilities that they use to manage the behavior of students without disabilities.
Most of the undesirable behavior displayed by both groups is similar. The differences,
nevertheless, may originate in the teacher s selection of the precise behavioral involvement. Many
educators may use a point or level systems as a means of regulating the behaviors of all students
within the classroom. These type of systems are often used by teachers to control and influence the
desired behavior from all students and has both advantages and disadvantages.
Because EBD students are more resistant than most when in a new setting,

The Wife Of Bath s Tale Essay
The Wife of Bath s tale is a tale about a knight who rapes a woman and has to be punished by the
queen instead of the king. Instead of the queen killing him or jailing him she gives him a chance to
go find out what do women desire the most. So he embarks on his journey and never finds the
answer, until he runs into an old, ugly woman. She gives him the answer, only after he pledges his
troth to her. So, when he tells the queen that most women desire sovereignty and control over their
husbands and relationships he is set free and has to marry the old lady. He is distraught later that
night so, the ugly woman gives him an ultimatum. She could remain ugly and be faithful to the
knight, or she could be pretty and unfaithful. After being torn, he lets her decide, and she decides to

The Wife of Bath, who was married five times, married all of her husbands for money. The last
husband, Jenkin, was the one she truly loved, but told him about a dream that never happened. She
told him that she dreamt of blood filling her bed, but the blood represented gold. This was a lie.
She also told him that she was enchanted with him, and even though she was, it was for the wrong
reason at that moment. In the Wife of Bath s tale, the old wife tricks the knight into marrying her by
making him pledge troth to her, and does not mention marriage. Also, both women gain control of
the marriages. The Wife of Bath is hit by her husband after she hits him, but after they reconciled
she gets control over the marriage after she cries, and he gives her his estate and riches. The old
wife gains control when she asks him what he wants. When he tells her to decide she gains control
of the relationship when she chooses both beauty and fidelity. By them tricking their men and

Nobody can tell you to get happy, it is something that you have to find and acquire yourself.
Relationships are very important in a good life. A great deal of happinesscan be acquired through
friends and family. For those who are unfortunate enough to be deprived of a family can
substitute it with friends or respective spouses. If you are happy, you will have more friends.
The more friends you have, the happier you will be. If you are unhappy, people may not want to
be affected by your negativity and would prefer to stay away from you. Having no friends can
make your life difficult and negative. Good friends may help your life last longer, too, according
to an Australian study. Conducted by the Centre for Ageing Studies at Flinders University, the
study followed nearly 1,500 older people for 10 years. It found that those who had a large network
of friends outlived those with the fewest friends by 22%. When you are happy, positivity through

The Trash Sample
Within the trash sample I analyzed there were around 234 items thrown away within a week s
period. Many of the items thrown away were thrown away in pairs suggesting that two people live
in the dwelling that the sample was taken in. Some examples of items thrown away in pairs include,
Starbucks cups, church bulletins, and Bounty paper towels. Bounty paper products, napkins and
paper towels, show up on the record 24 times, suggesting that Bounty paper products are used over
three times per day, corresponding with meals. Other brands that show up in the sample often
include Green Giant, four times, Kroger Brand, twelve times. Within the Kroger brand items there
are six plastic ziploc bags, this suggests that the people who live in this home either take their
lunch to work or school, or pre package their snacks at home into serving sizes. The two church
bulletins, and church offering envelopes, suggest that both members of the household went to
church once the week they took their trash sample. Another interesting item thrown away was an
old Tommy Hilfiger brand shirt. The members of this household make enough money to throw
away old clothes, suggesting that they live comfortably. We also can tell what bank they use
because they threw away a check box from Regions bank. There was a lot of first aid items in the
trash sample as well multiple boxes of bandages and a box of non stick gauze pads this suggests
that someone in the home had a wound that needed to be dressed. One can

Thus, the fear of lost control and power of the male hegemonic dominance, women have been
ostracized, discriminated, and misunderstood; displacing them in a gloomy mansard. The most
disconcerting thing is that women for centuries have been convincing themselves of that diabolical
idea. It is true that there have been some glimmers of light that have been recognized by the
patriarchal authority that governs the world. However, today women are not allowed to shine in all

Therefore, in receiving the Savior s mission, Peter s ego is enhanced. For that reason, Peter sees in
Mary Magdalene his adversary. The fact is that what Jesusis doing is giving Peter his own cure.
Peter is challenged by Jesus on three grounds. First, in a theological ground because he has the
divine responsibility to continuing with the Savior s teaching about the Kingdom of God.
Second, in a philosophical ground because it is not only repeat a story, but also reasoning about
its meaning. Third, his personal ground because he has to face his internal enemies of jealousy,
and the insecurity of facing the sense and sensibility of a woman. The humble the heart of a man
is, the closest to God. This is the case of Mary Magdalene in this specific gospel. This is exactly
one of the Savior s teachings, to transform this kind of mentality while He was among them. The
Savior starts with his own disciples. The Savior knows that this metamorphosis will take some time
to develop in full bloom. Because HE knows it is a long journey, HE gives them two important
commandments: You shall lovethe Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all
your mind, and with all your strength. You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12: 30 31).
Hence, with these two commandments, the Savior gives Peter the antidote of his own illness. In
other words, Peter is not responsible for being born under a patriarchal

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Political...
Webster s New World Dictionary defines the term political party as, an organization of people
who share the same views about the way power should be used in a country or society. A plain
and simple definition for a very complex part of America s political system. The main goal of a
political party is to get people elected from their particular party. When people who one sees eye
to eye with are in office, there is a greater chance that the policies that one cares about will be
addressed. Each party has a platform , or positions on policies and issues that they find to be
important, and they have functions. Each party works to recruit candidates, organize elections, unite
people, hold conventions to choose the party s presidential and vice presidential nominees, and
much more. However, in recent years America has been suffering from party dealignment with an
increasing number of young independents or people who do not associate with a particular party.
Many questions arise from political parties: Why does America have them? Are they needed? How
many are there? One thing is for sure, political parties continue to influence American... Show more

positions. Both parties are very similar and tend to not take drastic stances on issues which
makes making a choice very hard for voters. Also, many people complain that tho system makes
the U.S. political system less democratic. Some advantages of the system are that it is easier for
people to vote since their are really only two choices and with only two parties, there tends to be
more stability than several parties all fighting for power at once. In truth, most Americans do favor
this system because it has dominated American politics since the very beginning. How could a

The Classical Expected Utility Theory And The Dual Theory...
INTRODUCTION:
Identifying, defining risks (market risks as well as non market risks), presenting and justifying a
unified framework for the analysis, construction and implementation of risk measures are important
components of insurance pricing.
According to the Oxford s advanced learners dictionary, risk can be defined as the possibility that
something uncertain (not predictable) and unpleasant will happen. Both financial and insurance
organisations are therefore faced with this concept of risk in their everyday activities. Financial
risk can be said to be the possibility that the return achieved on an investment will be different from
that expected, and also takes into account the size of the difference. Whereas insurers will define
risk as a chance of harm, damage or loss against something which is insured.
Several literatures reveal a good number of different approaches and theories to the price of risk.
The two main competing economic theories we shall consider are the classical expected utility
theory, and the dual theory of risk which was developed by Yaari(1987).
They defined the price of an insurance risk excluding other expenses as the risk adjusted premium.
The rest of this paper is structured as follows: section 2 presents the class of distortion operators
used in insurance pricing, their properties and an application of pricing by distortion. Section 3
incorporates a new pricing principle by Wang (2002) and its relevance to natural hedging.

What You Need to Know About Population Health
Population health improves treatment outcomes among specific patient groups in the community.
In the past, there has been a disconnect between technology and clinical practice. This circumstance
has made it a challenge to coordinate medical services and resulted in suboptimal treatment
outcomes. Population health management helps care provider organizations overcome this barriers
by improving patient satisfaction and reducing medical costs.

The Transition to Value Based Care
Value base care rewards providers for working together to coordinate treatments, administrant the
correct services, and improving overall population health. As time goes on, insurers will continue to
base care provider reimbursements more on treatment quality than quantity.
The positive outcomes that have resulted due to value base programs have caused the model to
gain traction and ignite one of the largest changes in history in the health care marketplace. By
linking reimbursements to service quality, insurers such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services have facilitated a massive leap forward in the performance of United States health care
providers. This achievement is a considerable accomplishment in the face of an institution that has
received reimbursement from insurers via a fee for service model during the last 75 years. Soon,
valued based payment models will represent the norm as more insurers support initiatives such as
shared savings program, integrated clinical care, and accountable care payment models.

The Function of Monstrosity in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Frankenstein is a piece of Gothic literature and was written in the Romantic era. It was published
in the 19th Century and was written by Mary Shelley. Frankenstein was considered to be one of
the most evil horror stories of its time; it shocked and surprised its readership due the
controversial issues that it addressed. It was inconceivable that an author could engage with the
idea of creating a being from body parts and bringing it to life. This raised many issues such as,
should we have the right to play God?

There is a build up of tension and suspense within the end of the fourth and the very beginning of

horror, that it is not a beautiful being that he has created, but a monster. His realization of this
makes him very anxious and apprehensive and he decided to ignore the situation and not deal with
the consequences of this actions. The following quotes show his despondency and alarm and how
he reacts to the situation,
How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe…
The different accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature.
The beauty of the dream vanished.
These quotes all show that he dreamt of creating something magnificent, but instead created
something monstrous.
His reactions to his creation could be considered hideous or shocking, because he chose to create
this being of his own volition. Now that the being is finished, he is disgusted and shocked; it
seems as if he created it with his eyes closed. He has chosen to reject his creation and not nurture
or embrace it. This is inexcusable as it is comparable with a mother rejecting her newly born child.
Frankenstein has now deserted the monster and hides away in fear of its return. The monster has

Condemnatory Diction In The Rattler
What if is something one asks oneself after a tough decision. They ask each other what would have
happened if they had chosen another path; would they have felt better or worse. In the short story
The Rattler , a man questions whether or not to kill a rattlesnake who had no intention of attacking
him. He thinks hard about the situation. At the end he decides to kill him and is left with the
thought of what if . Throughout the story the author presents a conflicted man, an ethical snake, and
a tranquil setting to cause the reader to feel empathy along with anger towards the man and
sympathy towards the snake.

The author portrays the snake as calm and intuitive with an approving tone to get the acceptance
of the reader. When the man finds the snake, it was waiting to see the man s intentions in calm
watchfulness . It did not even start rattling yet . The snake wanted to see what the man would
do. It did not want to attack first without knowing whether the man was going to. Hurting the
man was something he was opposed to. The snake was calm and careful, making him honorable.
The audience is pleased with the snake s noble decision. It makes the snake seem like the victim
because he wanted to make certain he was in danger. This causes the reputation of the snake
within the reader to go up. Portrayed as righteous by a sympathetic diction, the reader feels pity
and pleased by the snake. When the man comes back with a hoe, the snake had not moved , but
rather stayed still like a live wire when he saw the hoe . He did not move because he knows
people do not want to mess with him and he does not want to trigger a fight. He is dangerous
only if someone were to provoke or try to harm him. He will not attack unless he is forced to. This
makes the snake seem virtuous. The reader feels very proud of the snake for being honorable,
instead of the man, thus making the snake have a better moral conduct. This gives the reader more

Bip Oil Spill
The BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill tells the tragic story of what happened on the Deepwater Horizon
drilling rig back in April 2010. The rig, leased from another vendor, was digging a well on the
Macondo slope in the Gulf when it exploded and fatally killed eleven employees and injured
seventeen others (Crandall, Parnell, Spillan, 2014). Not to mention, five million barrels of oil
spilled into the sea causing an environmental issue that lasted more than ninety days. Several
underlying factors went into play that contributed to the oil crisis. One of those factors was the
safety device on the well referred to as a blowout preventor (BOP). The purpose of this device is
to stop the flow of oil and gas in case of an emergency situation. Apparently, if the BOP does not
operate correctly, the oil and gas can mix causing a disaster for employees, the environment, and
the machinery. According to the case study by Crandall, Parnell, and Spillan (2014), someone
bumped a control switch that altered the stability of the blowout. With that, no investigation was
conducted to make sure the equipment was in a stable state. Another factor was cementing the
drill case to make the structure stable. This process involves drilling a hole into the well and
inserting a case into the shaft that has to have cement in between. There are two safety aspects of
this; one keeps the shaft sealed from hydrocarbon gasses and oil until the extraction takes place,
and the other holds the metal casing centered in the bore that uses twenty one centralizers as an
added measure to keep it sturdy. The BP employees only had six steel... Show more content on

  • 2. The Bataan Death March By Glenn Frazier Glenn Frazier, a survivor of the Bataan Death March states, If we had known what was ahead of us at the beginning of the Bataan Death March, I would ve taken death. The Bataan Death March was extremely brutal, which left many survivors thinking if they should have died at the beginning of the march. During the Bataan Death March, the Americans and Filipinos were forced to walk 65 miles in five to twelve days without food or water while enduring regular beatings ( Bataan Death March, 1942 ) . During the march, the Japanese would treat the prisoners of war (POWs) in a brutal manner leaving only 987 survivors out of 76,000 prisoners ( New Mexico National Guard s involvement in the Bataan Death March ). The Americans were horrified by the Japanese... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bushido means way of the warrior . The Code of Bushido was followed by the ancient Japanese, which respected the ways of warrior. It was a code that taught the Japanese dedication and respect for their Emperor and their family. The code had required warriors to exhibit a strict sense of honor and self control, maintain a benevolent yet detached attitude towards life, care for the Earth and other people, and be loyal to one s country and family. However, the Emperor had used the Code of Bushido to brainwash and control soldiers. The Emperor used it as a tool to motivate the people to murder and die for the code. According to the Japanese, if you surrendered, you would disappoint your family and country. In World War II when the Japanese were held prisoner in Cowra prison in Australia, many of them changed their names so that their parents assumed they were dead rather than disappointing them. The Code of Bushido made the Japanese treat the Americans and Filipinos in a savage and brutal manner. Moreover, the Japanese s treatment of prisoners affected how Americans saw them. The Americans believed the Japanese were brutal human beings. The Americans saw them as that because during the Bataan Death March, if you stopped marching, the Japanese would kill you with a bayonet or rifle. Then, if you tried to help someone who fell, you would get beaten or stabbed. Also for a sport, Japanese soldiers would fracture sculls with rifle butts. Mostly, the prisoners would receive almost to no food or water and they were forced to walk 65 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Why Dairy Should Not Be A Primary Food Group On Dietary... Dairy should not be a primary food group on the dietary guidelines set by the government because of its many negative effects on human health (given that people care about their health and the health of those around them). Dairy and other animal products are the only food sources which contain cholesterol. Arguments have been made saying that humans need to consume cholesterol in order to have a healthy balance of fats; these arguments fail to acknowledge that our bodies naturally produce all the cholesterol that it needs. And many studies have been conducted to support the theory that consumption of dietary cholesterol overloads arteries and can cause heart disease, artery disease, as well as sudden heart attacks. The Department of Community Health and Preventative Medicine at Northwestern University Medical School worked to interpret an international study based on data from the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization. The overall conclusion was that ...dietary cholesterol levels are consistently related to CHD (coronary heart disease) mortality rates (Stamler). A study conducted by Lena Ohlsson at the Laboratory of Gastroenterology and Nutrition within the prestigious Lund University in Sweden also linked dietary cholesterol and milk fat with artery disease and other metabolic disorders. It could help learners understand the factors of human development and it could also guide us how to be a great educator in the future. There are many different developments in educational psychology, such as cogntive development, social, emotional and moral development. Each development is significant and we have to go through. In this essay, I am going to introduce two theorists different theories on cogntive and identity development. Cognitive development is concerned with our ability to think, to reason, and to understand and remember the world around us. It involves mental processes that are associated with taking in, organising and making sense of information processes that include perceiving, attending to, understanding and recalling information. These mental funstions are part of what is referred to as cognition(Duchesne McMaugh, 2016). There was a person who made a great contribution to cognitive development. He was a very famous child psychologist and he was also one of the first theorists to attempt to comprehensively describe the process of cognitive development of children. He observed children and questioned them about the way they solved problems. His work changed the way we think about cognitive development(Duchesne McMaugh, 2016). It was Jean Piaget. • 7. Reflection Paper On Dead Man Walking Assignment #1 The movie Dead Man Walking was based on a true story about a nun named Sister Helen Prejean who counseled multiple prisoners on death row. Matthew Poncelet was a fictional character, but the movie showed how Sister Helen would be a spiritual advisor for prisoners like him in real life. I felt throughout the movie that Sister Helen stayed very neutral about her views on the death penalty. I think Sister Helen knew that Poncelet was still going to be executed, but despite that her goal was to help him repent and seek forgiveness from God before his execution actually happened. At first, I was taken back that sister Sister Helen would agree to go visit Poncelet in jail and try to help and counsel him while he was locked up because as a person so deep in their faith as she was, why would she go and help someone who committed such a heinous act against two innocent teens? Poncelet, and another accomplice, were accused of kidnapping, raping, and murdering two teenagers as they were parked in their car. The families of the victims became furious when they found out Sister Helen was helping Poncelet appeal his case. They felt betrayed by Sister Helen that she would go and accompany the person that took their child s life. Sister Helen stayed by Poncelet all the way up until the day he was executed. When Poncelet was being brought into the room where he was going to receive lethal injections, Sister Helen kept her hand on his shoulder the entire time and read him ... • 10. The Temple Of Divus Augustus Zackary Marion Miss. Jackson World History 27 October 2015 The Temple of Divus Augustus was a major temple originally built to commemorate the first Roman emperor, Augustus. The temple was built between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, and behind the Basilica Julia. The temple was built on the site of the house where Augustus inhabited before he entered the public life around the mid 1st century BC. It is known from Roman currency that his temple was originally built to a hexagon style design. The size, physical proportions and exact site are unknown. Provincial temples of Augustus, like the smaller Temple of Augustus in Pula, now in Croatia, had already been constructed during his lifetime. Most likely because of the popular resistance to the notion Augustus was not officially adored in Rome until after his death. That s also when a temple at Nola in Campania, (where he died), seems to have been begun. After that multiple temples were dedicated to him all over the Roman Empire. Temple of Divus Augustus. Word Count: Table of Contents Introduction3 External Conflicts4 Internal Conflicts4 Military Capabilities4 Conclusion4 Works Cited7 Introduction The Falklands War, or La Guerra de Las Malvinas in Spanish, also referred to as The South Atlantic War. It was a small, but furiously loud conflict between two countries across different ends of the globe, both fighting for a few small islands in which most of the population farm sheep for a living. Before going any deeper into the essay, the selected topic is personally a very difficult area to delve into, as my Argentine background has always made me see this conflict differently. This is from the prolonged exposure to Argentine culture, which the Falkland War greatly affected, including my family and friend s history to the war, and events around it, which is also why I chose it. The history of the Islands has already had a long history before the war, in 1690 a British sailor John Strong discovers the islands, half a decade later, and they claim the Islands as a British Colony. During Britain s, delayed claim, Spain joins into the dividing of the islands, later France also intervenes with the colony, managing to get a slice too. • 15. The Importance Of Seeing The Philadelphia Orchestra... Last year I had the privilege of seeing the Philadelphia Orchestra perform Gustav Holst s: The Planets Suite. The piece as a whole is one that pulls the strings of your heart from the first pound to the last mystic moment of silence. It has been a year since I heard the orchestral piece in full, and ever since, I have been awaiting to get an opportunity like that again. It is unfortunately a rare occurance in my generation to feel so strongly about a piece of art. The world is at our fingertips, and yet we have no urge to explore it. According to Gustav, the Planets were a depiction of life and the many stages of its progression. As a young adult and musician this suite inspired a new way of seeing, feeling, and hearing life. Thierry Fischer, a music director at Utah Symphony wrote, Holst denied that the suite has any connection to the classical Zodiac other than the names and traits of the personified planets, that connection by itself is enough for the music to conjure strong images of the mythological deities associated with each. Mars, the bringer of war, begins with five quiet yet dominant beats in a reverberating 5/4 rhythm. As the movement continues we hear the grinding minor chords, which leaves the ear unsettled. Mars is said to be an obvious illustration of war, the depressing and frightening steady march of soldiers as they walk toward the unknown. Throughout the entire movement there is no clear harmonic release, the chromaticism just sways back and forth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately, GarcГa MГЎrquez does not deal in the art of drug store romance novels, as the narrative of Love in the Time of Cholera cannot be reduced to its themes, or moral schema. (Wilson 280) His novel does not feed us a singular concept of true lovein the same way such notions have been popularized in western media and literature it is far more complex and multifarious than such, which is part of the reason Love in the Time of Cholera maintains such high critical acclaim. It is not one, singular love story with black and white division between true and illusionary romance, but a twist on such. Love in the Time of Cholera is rather a story of many loves from Florentino and Fermina, to Fermina and Dr. Urbino, to Fermina and Hildebranda, to Florentino and his lovers, and so on; all the loves in this novel are genuine, and are nothing besides love. Of course, the author himself expresses that all the stories he has written are love stories , but in the case of the dysfunctional romances in Love in the Time of Cholera, do the principles of conventional true love hold true? There is plenty of evidence that it does not. Florentino Ariza, as pointed out by Fermina Daza, is in love with an illusion he is in love with the idea of love, rather than feeling genuine passion for Fermina as a person. Although the existence of the principle was not doubted, the reasoning of Rowlatt J. seemed to be that no contract existed at all because of the doctrine. The reasoning suggested an absence of capacity to contract. If so, The Amphitrite was wrongly decided . The circumstances in which the doctrine applied and consequences of its application have not proceeded on the basis of an absence of capacity in the Crown and its instrumentalities to contract. Rather, issues of damages for breach or compensation were pursued. 11. There is no doubt about the existence of the Doctrine in Australia and the United Kingdom. Its application was implicit and overriding, albeit within a narrow compass. A contract validly entered, could not bind a government or statutory corporation from exercising its statutory powers, absent some statutory prohibition, to the prejudice of the other party. This generation occupies a lot of top executive roles in the workforce and are not retiring as they were expected to (Levonius, 2015). The Baby Boomers were taught to grow up questioning authority and standing up for themselves when they needed to. Around the time this generation was in school there was a grade inflation in the educational system, and the Boomer s strived to achieve these high grade marks. Baby Boomers were taught in a linear fashion, they were taught by lecture, and the technology they had included overhead projectors and some videos (Warren, 2012). Since this generation was accustomed to trying to achieve high grades they became achievement oriented adults. Education was quite a bit different from earlier generations in this era (Olson, 2011). • 35. Sports Mascots Research Paper The Sports Mascots Scam There is a contentious argument about whether to use controversial Native American mascots and nicknames for schools or sports organizations. One side is to allow some organizations to keep the mascots, and others vote to have other mascots be banned and force the organizations to change the names. However, due to the positive benefits of costs, and tradition, schools and sports organizations should not ban the use of controversial mascots even though some mascots can provoke negative stereotypes against them. To start off, the cost of a university or sports team to have to change the name would be incredibly expensive for that team. The reason it would be so expensive for these organizations and teams is because they would have to replace the paint on the locker rooms, the stadium and the uniforms. For example, according to the Bleacher Report, the Oregon Ducks alone spent 1.3 million dollars on just uniforms. There are no instruments and it is sung solo and in the Gaelic language. The melody is unmetered with a varying rhythm in each verse and likely based on the young lady s own pattern of speech. Because the song is unaccompanied, the singer is using a great deal of ornamentation to give the tune more interest and aesthetic appeal. She has a small bit of nasal timbre that is more noticeable at the end of certain phrases and, using some vibrato, she slides her notes to join words or phrases together. Both tunes have an extremely fast rhythm and are written in 4/4 time making them simple quadruple metered with 4 beats per measure. The rhythmic pattern appears to repeat itself in binary form, though it is difficult to follow. The tone in The Reel of Rio distinctly changes from low to high after two measures and in The Woman of the House the tone remains mostly the same up to the end. Both tunes are reels , which is the most popular tune type within the Irish dance music tradition (Reel). As with all reels, they have the same structure, consisting largely of quaver (eighth note) movement with an accent on the first and third beats of the bar. (Reel). These accents make it difficult for this writer to count out the beats and therefore, unable to imagine dancing to these tunes. Bibliography Cervantees, Lorna Dee. The following quotes show his despondency and alarm and how he reacts to the situation, How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe… The different accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature. The beauty of the dream vanished. These quotes all show that he dreamt of creating something magnificent, but instead created something monstrous. His reactions to his creation could be considered hideous or shocking, because he chose to create this being of his own volition. Now that the being is finished, he is disgusted and shocked; it seems as if he created it with his eyes closed. He has chosen to reject his creation and not nurture or embrace it. This is inexcusable as it is comparable with a mother rejecting her newly born child. Frankenstein has now deserted the monster and hides away in fear of its return. • 54. Bip Oil Spill The BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill tells the tragic story of what happened on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig back in April 2010. The rig, leased from another vendor, was digging a well on the Macondo slope in the Gulf when it exploded and fatally killed eleven employees and injured seventeen others (Crandall, Parnell, Spillan, 2014). Not to mention, five million barrels of oil spilled into the sea causing an environmental issue that lasted more than ninety days. Several underlying factors went into play that contributed to the oil crisis. One of those factors was the safety device on the well referred to as a blowout preventor (BOP). The purpose of this device is to stop the flow of oil and gas in case of an emergency situation. Apparently, if the BOP does not operate correctly, the oil and gas can mix causing a disaster for employees, the environment, and the machinery. According to the case study by Crandall, Parnell, and Spillan (2014), someone bumped a control switch that altered the stability of the blowout. With that, no investigation was conducted to make sure the equipment was in a stable state. Another factor was cementing the drill case to make the structure stable. This process involves drilling a hole into the well and inserting a case into the shaft that has to have cement in between. There are two safety aspects of this; one keeps the shaft sealed from hydrocarbon gasses and oil until the extraction takes place, and the other holds the metal casing centered in the bore that uses twenty one centralizers as an added measure to keep it sturdy. The BP employees only had six steel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 126 people on board the rig were ordered to abandon ship due to the fire that had erupted.
