The Pros And Cons Of Food Stamps
Eighteen percent of America is currently on food stamps. Why is that so? Food stamps allow
just about anyone to qualify. Most of those on food stamps are able bodied adults without
dependents (ABAWDs) (Hoar). Why is it that so many people are on food stamps? Maybe
because it is lenient with its rules. Being on food stamps does not give someone a comfortable
and easy lifestyle, but it is comfortable enough. It is no secret that obesity is a growing epidemic
in America. Food stamps are one of the major roots of the problem. Imagine getting to stay home
and not have to go to work. The government sends checks in the mail to spend on groceries, but it
gets better. The government does not prohibit the purchase of junk food. Those people can now

Less than one percent of America has what is considered a very low food security, yet eighteen
percent of America is on food stamps (Hoar). There are many people in the surrounding area of
Leedey, Oklahoma that are on food stamps. Most of them do not have any plans to make a
change in their lives, and none of them seem to be struggling in regards to food. Many will say
that it is not the government s job to control what people eat. The average person in America eats
or drinks something that can be considered junk food every day. Why should the people on food
stamps be limited on food when they are already limited to other expenditures? Seeing that it is
everyone s right to eat what he or she wants, he or she should be able to buy junk food if it is he
or she s own money. Food stamps are primarily run on government money. At least those who are
not on food stamps who buy junk food can say that it is he or she s own money. The Supplemental
Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), food stamps, was created to get rid of hunger in the
United States (Hoar). According to Robert Paarlberg of Harvard University obesity is the
problem in most low income households, not hunger (2). Jen Fifield, the founder of a food
pantry in Quitman County, claims that many public health and medical officials. . . [are] saying
that the program. . . [is] feeding into the country s unhealthy habits and worsening the obesity
epidemic. (1) This is supported by many statistics. Arkansas state Representative Mary Bently
states that one in three adults in Arkansas are obese, and she is afraid that food stamps are
enabling diabetes and obesity to rise (1). If junk food is continued to be accessed by those on
food stamps, then it will be more than adults being affected by obesity. The children of America
will eventually be affected by the leniency of food

Dispositional Optimism Research Paper
Utilizing Dispositional Optimism Life is tough. Life forces humans to endure in a universe that
may be completely random and nothing in it may hold any meaning aside from the arbitrary value
that I attribute. Moreover, if nothing means anything in life, then there is no true reason in living.
We are all just postponing the inevitable great equalizer we call death. Why not just skip the
hardship, pain, and suffering that exists in this world and get straight to a place where we cannot
feel its horrors anymore? When thinking thoughts such as these, I expect to find that such a
negative, pessimistic disposition might not yield beneficial results. Conversely, one might infer that

Sustaining this optimistic mindset might be a difficult task; I expect to reap a constructive outcome

Annie Hall Analysis Essay
Bryttani Bartlett
FILM 1305: Introduction to Film
Dr. Bruce Hutchinson
23 September 2014
Narrative Conceptual Analysis of Annie Hall Annie Hall is a critically acclaimed romantic
comedy made in the seventies starring Woody Allen and Diane Keaton. It is directed by Woody
Allen himself, and it is the story of a man who falls in love with women too easily, particularly,
Annie Hall. He is trying to grasp why his relationship with her ended a year ago and goes through
several recollections to come to his conclusion. The way the story is presented shows clear
examples of depth of information, which looks into mental subjectivity and perpetual subjectivity.
Overall, the film shows the concept of time in the use temporal order and temporal frequency. ...

Woody Allenshows this in two different ways in his film through mental subjectivity and
perpetual subjectivity. Overall the movie is mentally subjective. Alvy s Singer is the main
character in the film and they hear his point of view as viewers observe the movie. His
flashbacks, and inner thoughts that he allows us to hear are an example of mental subjectivity.
The audience starts off by listening to the monologue of Alvy talking about how he feels about
life through old jokes. All the while he is looking directly at the camera like he is talking
directly to the audience, and he is. Even though the audience is looking at Alvy speaking to
them, they are still inside his internal monologue. The watchers learn here that Alvy feels that
life is full of loneliness, misery, suffering, and unhappiness and that it is all over much too
quickly. The audience quickly learns that Alvy is a pessimistic person right at the beginning of
the story. Another example of this concept is when Alvy literally revisits his past. He goes into
his flashbacks and is a part in the story there in his current form. In one of the first scenes of the
movie he is in his elementary classroom when younger Alvy is being scolded for kissing girls. He
is there defending his younger self and is fully communicating with himself and others in the
flashback. This is the first occurrence in the film showing his impulse for loving women and sets
up the story to show his not so good luck with

Battle Of Stalingrad Essay
The two major fronts of the war that was always fought on was the Pacfic and European fronts.
In the European war front, Allied powers fought mercily against the core threat of the Axis
powers. This is where concentration camps were located and the Holocaust took place. Major
events took place here in this region. The Battle of Stalingrad was battle between German and
Soviet forces. This battle stopped German advance into the Soviet Union. It became one of the
bloodiest battles in history that killed two million in civilian and military. After Italy surrenders to

Analysis Of The Book Coriolanus And Titus Andronicus
Coriolanus and Titus Andronicus are Roman warrior heroes who both become maniacal revengers
when Rome rejects them. Titus sees his revenge carried out, while Coriolanus gives up to his
mother before his revenge is achieved. While Titus decisions allow him to experience victory and
defeat, Coriolanus decisions cheat him out of the victory of revenge and he experiences only defeat
at the hand of his once enemy, Aufidus. Firstly, the Romes that Coriolanus and Titus come from
are very different place in custom and time. For Coriolanus, he comes from a Rome that is still
run by the senate, before the time of Caesar. This Rome is less about conquest and more about
the Republic. The people are still a minority in the government but because of mob mentality they
play an important role in Coriolanus. Unlike Titus, Coriolanus is trying to get elected to the
highest position possible under the republic. Titus comes from a Rome after the death of Caesar,
but needs to be punctuated by the fact that it is a fictional Rome made by Shakespeare. In this
fictional Rome, the people play little to no role and the microcosm is mostly centered on the upper
crust of Roman society and the court. These versions of Rome play to the success and failure of
both Coriolanus and Titus.
In the opening of both plays, the title characters are described as Roman warriors who have
retained hero status for their actions in war, defending Rome. Coriolanus is a hyper masculine
figure who is loved by the

The Tempest Conflict
Every four years in the United States, presidential candidates run for control over the U.S. There
are many steps in the process that they have to take, such as beating their fellow competitors;
which can create a struggle. In the play The Tempest the characters have the same type of
struggle. In the beginning of the play there is a huge storm, created by a magician as an act of
revenge. The storm is directed towards people on a ship who have done him wrong, or will do
him wrong throughout the play. Many of the characters try to overthrow the magician, also
known as Prospero. Each of the characters come up with a plan to gain some type of power over
him, or others; this eventually gets into Proespero s head, when he uses magic to play tricks on
them. In the end, he realizes where he was wrong for his actions, and forgives them for their wrong
doings also. In William Shakespeares play, he uses conflict to demonstrate a theme of struggle for
power.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

when Prospero is destroyed (act 3). Many people feel as though they can be a better leader over

Example Of A Psychological Test
Have you ever taken a psychological test? Psychological tests are used to measure one s attributes.
According to the article, How is a Psychological Assessment Used, psychological testing is done to
help a psychologist, better understand an individual and provide valuable insights into the
individual s behavior, skills, thoughts and personality. An example of a psychological test is, the
Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) which evaluates thoughts, attitudes, and responses to
questionable test materials. The TAT and its pictures evolved during the 1930s and early 1940s.
The pictures used were in a constant state of flux with additions, deletions, and modifications
(Morgan, W. G. 2002). The Thematic Apperception Test is an individual assessment, known as the
picture interpretation technique. Whereas, the test taker is shown pictures and asked to tell a story
about the pictures. The pictures used for this psychological test include cards which are, blank,
male figures, female, ambiguous gender, and children. Most practitioners choose a set of
approximately ten cards, either using cards that they feel are generally useful, or that they believe
will encourage the subject s expression of emotional conflicts relevant to their specific history and
situation (Cramer, P. 2004). The assessment for TAT can be used to; reveal motivations, and
understanding of one s personality through projecting themselves onto the pictures and how they
are feeling. Thus, each answer the subject

Litigation vs. Common Sense and Compassion
This essay will focus on the motivation in the phrase Common sense and compassion in the
workplace has been replaced by litigation. As a business relationship emerges between an employer
and employee negotiations, agreements, rules, and guidelines are formed. Normally these
arrangements and duties are established through the human resources (HR) department along with
expectations that an individual will perform their job with acceptable common sense and
compassion if necessary. However, it currently appears that common sense or compassion has been

The legal process within the human resources department tries to format strategies and alliances
that avoid negative activities affecting the employers and employees; however, exhibitions using
common sense or compassion can conflict with these guidelines creating inappropriate behaviors. If
this becomes the case, disciplinary actions begin bringing about other matters of legal issues.
Nevertheless, once an individual believes they have been illegally mistreated, they become more
apt to submit a lawsuit for purposes of revenge, financial struggles, or inapt employment securities
(Alboher, 2012).
The Safety Process versus Common Sense and Compassion The human resources process has to
accompany both the employee and employer in regard to safety issues. An employee wants the
assurance of safe and healthy working conditions; anything less exposes danger to their own
wellbeing. In addition employees must take heed to precautions design by the organization.
However an employer wants to avoid expenditures in overhead by cutting cost or corners often
putting their employees at harmful risk. In addition, organizations also have a lawful obligation in
which they have to provide a safe workplace by preventing accidents, hazards, serious injuries or
accident related deaths. Negligence on either behalf can result in determination, fines, citations,

American Sniper portrays the most lethal United States Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle during his four
tours in Iraq. The audience becomes aware of the disturbing scenes that happen during war
combat. It becomes evident that war forces American soldiers must put their lives on the line in
order to protect the American identity. American citizens should become more aware of what is
occurring overseas, and appreciate the soldiers who are protecting our country. A significant
scene is when Chris Kyle and his platoon is in the sneak attack battle, it is an eye opening
moment that shows what is evolved in protecting our country. This source relates to Monster
Culture theses five by Cohen in the sense we have to put up borders in order to protect our
society (page 7). Chris Kyle and the military are acting as the borders, which protect the United

Alternate Theories On Women s Underrepresentation
Alternate Theories on Women s Underrepresentation Initially it was thought that women were
underrepresented in politics and elected office because they were underrepresented in the
eligibility pool (Welch, 1978, 372). The idea was that women were socialized to believe that
their duty was in the home raising children. As such, there were very few women in the
eligibility pool, the typical jobs that have a tendency to lend themselves to a future in public
office: law, business, and medicine among others (Welch, 1978, 373). This line of reasoning
would suggest that all that has to be done to increase the proportion of women in public office is
to increase their presence in such fields and disciplines (Fox, Lawless, and Feeley, 2001, 412).
This explanation, however, falls short. The proportion of women in these careers has increased
immensely and yet the disparity still persists (Fox and Lawless, 2011, 60). When considering
potential factors that contribute to women s underrepresentation in elected office, another thought
may be that perhaps voters just do not vote for women. Research shows that when women run they
tend to win at the same rate as men and, furthermore, there is little evidence to suggest any kind of
systemic bias against women at the polls (Lawless and Pearson, 2008, 67). However, additional
research into the matter has qualified this claim. There is evidence that voters tend to view
masculine characteristics being self confident, assertive, tough, and

Theme Of Hospitality In Beowulf
By demonstrating how the benign exchange of hospitality changes into a vicious cycle of
assault and retaliation and how it ultimately leads to tragedy, Beowulf makes a point about the
limits of hospitality, whereby nothing short of death can end the cycle of obligation. The world
of Beowulf is constructed upon the rules of hospitality and requisites of reciprocity. As Marcel
Mauss asserts, there are no free gifts. Regardless of time and place, a gift of any sort obliges a
person to reciprocate the present that has been received (Mauss 9). While it might appear so,
Beowulfs arrival at the shores of Denmark to proffer his help to Hrothgar to kill the monsters is
not a simple act of selflessness. He partakes in a system of exchange that underlies... Show more

Heardred s mistake in offering hospitality to the sons of Ohthere results in him being mortally
rewarded with wounds from a sword (2386). Onela s treatment of Heardred s hospitality as
treachery results in a cruel parody of hospitable exchange: a fatal sequence of assault and
revenge. The fate of Heardred also serves to reaffirm that hospitality in this poem can never
wholly seal itself from treachery and peril. Later on, in his report to King Hygelac after
returning to Geatland, Beowulf speaks of how Hrothgar attempts to make peace between the
Danes and Heathobards by marrying his daughter Freawaru to Ingel. In spite of the feud between
the two sides, the Heathobards are obliged to host and entertain the Danes since a Danish princess
is marrying the Heathobard king. But as Beowulf mentions, the spear / is prompt to retaliate when
a prince is killed (2029 30). Paradoxically, the system of reciprocity here becomes a source of both
Heathobards hospitality (as host) as much as their desire to retaliate against the Danes. Ultimately,
the force of grievances outweighs the bond established through the offering of the bride as a gift: a
guest who wears the heirloom snatched from the host s father has betrayed hospitality, which
invites retaliation from the host. This suggests the limitations of hospitality as a principle of socio
economic

William Berkeley In The 1676 Analysis
In the 1670s, dissent from small farmers and frontiersmen marred the leadership of William
Berkeley. Reasons, such as restrictions on the right to vote, high taxes, low tobacco prices,
aristocratic leadership, and inadequate security against Native American attacks caused the dissent.
Nathanial Bacon, a relative of William Berkeley, relocated from England in 1673 and became part
of the administration in Virginia. Over time, the two disagreed on the issue of Indians (Rice, 2012).
It was at this point that emigrants of English descent were conquering land through force.
Some leaders in the Virginia governorship administration opposed this idea by preferring
negotiations. In 1676, a civil war erupted because of disagreement among the colonists. Nathanial
Bacon emerged as a leader of the people who lived on the frontier to protect them from attacks by
Native Americans. It was evident that Nathanial Bacon was fighting the colonial government by
urging poor farmers to express dissent by fighting the Native Americans and colonial government
(Rice, 2012). Consequently, the victims of the 1676 rebellion included the Pamunkey and the
Occoneechee tribes.

farmers and African Americans was seen as a potential threat to the colonial government. As a

Table 3 shows that no significant difference was observed between the overall scores of adjustment
in domestic and international Asian students. This finding is different from previous studies that
showed East Asian students to have difficulty understanding the academic content resulting in poor
adjustment success (Lee, Farruggia, Brown, 2013). To test our main hypothesis, JASP was used to
generate data through descriptive statistics, ANOVA and further post hoc analyses. Initially, we

To test the second hypothesis, further sampled t test comparisons were conducted. Table 3 shows a
strong significance between the different categories of adjustment, F(2, 81) = 197.09, p .001, О·ВІ
= .813; however, the significance was ambiguous. To see where the differencehappened, we
conducted t test comparisons. When comparing local university adjustment with international
university adjustment (t[4] = 1.990, p .05, d = .890), local social interaction with international
social interaction (t[4] = 0.732, p .05, d = .328) and local academic achievement with international
academic achievement (t[4] = .793, p .05, d = .355) no significance was found. In addition, the
significant values were found when academic achievement was compared with university
adjustment in domestic and international students. This was a potential error of key score
differences between the categories (Table 2). Table 5 provides the complete list of all the
comparisons and displays where the results showed significance. Through this statistical analysis,
our second hypothesis failed to be true as well.
Interestingly, an interaction was found to be significant for social interaction and academic
achievement. Figure 2 provides a visual representation of this result.

What Makes an Organization Successful
I believe that in large measure what makes an organization successful in meeting the needs of its
various constituencies is its distinctiveness. Organizations that have strong and unique cultures
generally experience excellent performance which implies why many of the most successful
organizations today are thriving and growing because, in large part, of their unique and strong
styles and values towards corporate culture. Yet these same conditions pose a critical set of
challenges but yet retain the essential cultural elements that have made it attractive and resilient.

This would provide various departments with a common language or set of terms with which they
could share their ideas and request information. And as work life becomes increasingly symbolic
and reality is indeed being constructed within people s minds, the organizations will be able to
develop and facilitate corrective actions towards self directed work teams rather than simply direct
and control. I furthermore believe that the same methodologies will work for both organizations
through an approach that promotes organizational design that goes beyond the quality circles or ad
hoc problem solving teams. I would recommend to these two organizations to reduce the process to
individual steps which will allow work to become restructured around the whole process instead of
organizing work based on the traditional model that reduces the required skill at every level of
work, producing boredom in the bottom level jobs and integrate a new system that connects the
needs of the people with the work to be done, and those closest to the jobs help design the job. This
concept by the way of designing the work system with the full participation of the people doing the
work will contribute to productivity breakthroughs for their organization for many years to come.

to tie our shoes. Before undergoing the challenge I did have a few fears about what would happen
when I went through with the challenge. My main fear was the person I asked would say no and
completely reject me. Another one of my fears was that the entire situation would be uncomfortable
for the other person due to the unusual question I would be asking them. Lastly, I feared, if the
person were to reject me the next time I saw them they would have the wrong impression. Overall,
this challenge did seem easy to accomplish at first, but what caused my fears was thinking about the
potential rejection that could happen. Similarly, the thing that caused... Show more content on

The only thing there is to fear is a person saying no to what you are asking. However, to ever be
accepted or get a yes you have to risk being rejected or nothing will ever happen. For example, if
you see someone you like while you are walking if you never put yourself out there and talk them
nothing will ever happen. Therefore, this challenge has helped me realize that rejection is not
something to fear but it is a necessity to move forward or open different opportunities throughout
life. Consequently, after this exercise I am more inclined to taking risks even if there are
consequences because risks are what allow us to improve, make the most out of life, and pursue
what we want to do. All in all, prior to this challenge I honestly did fear being rejected and
creating situations of uncertainty, but after completing this challenge I realized the importance of
rejection and how it helps us in our lives. If you need help, you have to ask for it. If you want a
job, you have to apply for it. Therefore, I learned that without putting yourself in a spot of potential
rejection you close the door for many opportunities in

Evolution Of The Airplane Research Paper
The first name that comes to mind when talking about the history of airplanes are The Wright
Brothers. Orville and Wilbur were American inventors who are credited with the inventing,
building, and flying the first self propelled airplane that could be controlled and could land safely.
On December 17, 1903, the Wright brothers set for the skies and made the first controlled flight
near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. From the first powered, manned, and controlled flight many
aspects of the airplane has been improved while the basis of the control system pilots use is still

Planes have shifted from wood and canvas structures to ones made from aluminum and other
composite materials. Propeller driven planes are still around today but the engine used to spin
the propeller has become more efficient and powerful. Jet engines have replaced many of the
propeller driven engines on the bigger planes allowing the plane to fly faster and at greater
altitudes. The incorporation of avionic systems like auto pilot, navigation, and communication
has made the pilot s life easier when flying. Without these advances in the airplane people and/or
goods wouldn t able to fly the great distances they do today. The airplane is used all over the
world for varying reasons, commercial airline companies such as United, Delta, and Southwest
fly passengers all over the world for business or leisure. Companies like UPS, Fedex, and the
United State Postal Service use planes to deliver packages all over the world. The military uses
planes in time of war, for reconnaissance missions, and to deliver aid to countries in times of need.
Emergency services use planes to transport injured people to different locations or put out wildfires

Doe Fandom
Fandom is one of the defining concepts in the modern society. But what exactly makes it so
important? The answer is fairly simple. Fans. „It is fans who identify and build an audience
(Branston and Stafford, 2006). The people, who, out of their own free will participate and create
communities which are based around a certain artefact of their choosing. These communities then
proceed to debate and often create their own content, which is subordinate to their chosen text,
such as any fan work fanfiction and fan art or memes (Slade, Narro and Givens Carroll, 2015).
While any work created by fan originates from its source, many create their own endings,
surroundings and in some cases decide to rewrite the original with them as a main character or a
character with supporting role to the main protagonist, sometimes even adding themselves as a
romantic interest. Another way of expressing their feelings is a cosplay costumes created and
perfected to resemble their favourite characters. Although, cosplays are actually a combination of
the costume itself and role playing, so that the fan can resemble the character as similarly as
possible. They then proceed to be photographed and perform as said character. But while most of
these interactions happen outside, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

certainly the online fandom gatherings. Slade, Narro and Givens Carroll states, that digital fandom

As I Reflect On The Process Of Writing This Rhetoric Analytic
As I reflect on the process of writing this rhetoric analytic research paper on two different
scholarly educational articles from different educational journals, I realize that this was the
most difficult paper to write thus far. Before this class, I never knew what rhetoric analysis of a
paper was and had no clue how to do it until we were granted the rhetoric worksheets. It was a
challenge writing this paper because prior to the peer review, I did not choose the appropriate

The scholarly article, Dressed and Groomed for Success in Elementary School Student Appearance
and Academic Adjustment is written by Caroline Fitzpatrick, Carolyn Cote Lussier, and Clancy
Blair. This scholarly, peer reviewed article is about how instructor s negative perceptions, biases,
and academic adjustments for their students can not only hinder student s potential in the
classroom, but also their outlook on schools, specifically in elementary grades.
The second scholarly article, Critical Race Theory and Whiteness of Teacher Educationis written by
Christine E. Sleeter. This article is about how teacher education can be changed by addressing the
Whiteness within it and how the targeted audience can be challenged.
Due to the fact that the articles are different, then the purposes for these articles differ. The
purpose of the first article is to see how theory and research suggest that students academic
experiences are likely to be associated with their general appearance and demeanor (Fitpatrick et

their students based off of their initial appearance and relating that to their competence at school.

Dewey Love wants to sue Anytown Times for defamation. Per the textbook, defamation is, the

disabilities spend at least 80 percent of their time in the regular classroom. The more time Special
education students spend in the classroom, the more care and attention they need from all
teachers. This is one of the reasons teachers need to be taught proper care skills and be certified
when it comes to Special education children. Another reason teachers need to be certified is the
fact that different Special education students suffer from different health, physical, and mental
complications, and Special education teachers as well as general teachers need to know how to
handle anything that happens at a moment s notice. Finally, proper teacher certification in the
Special education field would solve a lot of issues. Teachers being properly certified, would

after treatment with PDT. In this work, we evaluated the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects that
could be induced by 5 ALA/PDT on two different cancer cell lines; adenocarcinoma breast cancer
(MCF 7) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2). When MCF 7 and HepG2 cell lines treated
with 5 ALA (0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2mM) alone for 4h then incubated for 24h, 5 ALA did not induce
cytotoxic effects on both cell lines. Also, laser irradiation alone did not induce a cytotoxic effect

The effectiveness of 5 ALA/PDT to destroy acne lesions was evaluated by obstructing innate
immune response via the Toll like receptors (TLR), which overexpressed in human keratinocytes

Micronucleus test is considered as one of the main cytogenetic parameters, which record partial or
whole chromosome breakage during mitosis [17]. Therefore, the efficacy of 5 ALA/PDT to induce
DNA damage, and release chromatin during mitosis, was detected by MN test. When MCF 7 and
HepG2 cell lines were treated with 5 ALA/PDT at 633nm, the ratio of micronuclei was increased
significantly in comparison to non treated groups. Some research studies demonstrated that not all
sensitizers have the ability to induce DNA damage or even cause cytotoxicity when applied with
laser irradiation, such studies include the observations of Zenzen and Zankl [23] who
demonstrated that h ALA/PDT did not induce significant chromosome aberrations or micronuclei
neither in tumor cell line RPMI 2650 nor fibroblast cell line WS1, however, it caused cytotoxicity
to RPMI 2650 tumor cell line. Also, the results of Horinouchi and Arimoto Kobayashi [27] found
that 5 ALA/PDT did not induce photogenotoxicity in keratinocyte NCTC2544 cells as evaluated by

Agape By Greek Summary
Slide 1:
Nisan
In English, there is only one word for love. In Greek, there are three. Eros is the physical love,
Philia is brotherly love, or sisterly love shared amongst siblings and close friends. Agape is a love
that gives and asks nothing in return.
All three can be experienced in different varieties, but each carries great burdens. Eros must
remember that the other is a living, breathing being, not just an object. Philia must not take unjust,
selfish advantage of the other. Agape does all those things above and much more, with no
expectation of return. Agape is a love that does not require that the other should meet high standards
of beauty, nor of brains, nor of brawn. Agape gives without question, or reason, a God love, you
might say, something that Hephaestus wasn t seen as worthy of.

They can get cancer as easily as any nonmedical person would. As a result, there is no way these
doctors would keep quiet if the cure to cancer was out there due to the fact they aren t heartless
robots who would let a loved one die knowing that they could get their hands on the one thing
that could save them. There are many oncologists who are in the business to honestly help and
make a difference in the world. Michael Higgins, a cancer patient, states in an interview I have
been fortunate because almost all of them have been remarkably compassionate and caring
people. At least one of them was motivated to pursue cancer research by the loss of a close
relative. This makes it evident that there are doctors who have dedicated their career to working
hard, conducting research, and trying to find the end to this horrible disease. If the cure was really
out there, then there wouldn t be so much effort given by doctors. Instead the industry would be
more laid back and nonchalant but, that isn t the case. Just like there s evil in this world, there is
also good (Michael Higgins).
While it seems to be that the conspiracy cannot be true, it is very evident why some had hope that
the conspiracy was true. The main reason some believe this conspiracy is true is because cancer is
a multi billion dollar industry. Many are wrapped up in this idea that the medical industry, along
with the government, is only out to get money. There are many who

in A Midsummer Night s Dream) Examples of true love in literature can be found in a myriad of
oeuvres and opuses. It is extremely popular in the contemporary era to include romance in a
novel. An exemplary case of an instance of true love in modern writing would be the affiliation
of Eddard Stark and Catelyn Tully in George R. R. Martin s A Game of Thrones. These two

To begin, Hermia and Lysander s romance, as detailed in A Midsummer Night s Dream, is true,
as this love is both gradual and exceedingly organic. Unlike Helena and Demetrius s fake and
fallacious love, the romantic passion between Hermia and Lysander is genuine. It was not the
fairy king, Oberon, who made them fall deeply in love with each other, as is the case with the
former pair of paramours. Instead, Hermia and Lysander fell in love naturally, and in a gradual
fashion. This proves their love to be true, as a person cannot fall in love with another in a brief
period of time. Love is piecemeal, and takes numerous hours, if not years, for two people to
become paramours. This is not true of the romance between Helena and Demetrius, as the two
fell in love in a single instant. Demetrius was bewitched by Oberon s magical elixir, and that is
the only reason why the youth dotes on Helena. Before he was given the potion by the fairy
king, Demetrius utterly detested Helena and loathed her. In truth, Demetrius did not even wish to
see the girl, and was said to become sick merely upon seeing Helena. Therefore, it was only
because of Oberon s involvement that those two people fell in love. Thus, their love is not true,
and is entirely fictitious and fraudulent. In addition, the love between Hermia and Lysander relied
on no involvement from Oberon to form. The fairy king s influence played no part in making them
fall in love. While it is true that Lysander was given

Claude Manet – Impressionism – 19Th . Oscar-Claude Monet

Oscar Claude Monet was a founder of French Impressionist painting, and the most consistent and

nature particularly applied to plein air landscape painting. The expression Impressionism is from the
title of his piece Impression, soleil levant (Impression, Sunrise), which was shown in 1874 in the
first of the independent presentations mounted by Monet and his partners as an alternate choice to

that showed up in the pivotal 1874 presentation, however more as of late, the Moscow picture has

Monet has been portrayed as the main thrust behind Impressionism . Essential to the art of the
Impressionist painters was the comprehension of the effects of light on the local colour of objects,
and the impacts of the contrast of hues with each other. Monet s long profession as a painter was
spent in the quest for this aim.
In 1856, his shot meeting with Eugene Boudin, a painter of little beaches, opened his eyes to the
idea of plein air painting. From that time, with a short intrusion for military administration, he
committed himself to hunting down better than ever strategies for painterly expression.
In 1877 a progression of works of art at St Lazare Station had Monet taking a gander at smoke and
steam and the way that they influenced shading and perceivability, being here and there misty and
some of the time translucent. He was to further utilize this in study in the painting of the effects of
mist and rain on the landscape. The investigation of the impacts of climate was to develop into
various arrangements of works of art in which Monet often painted a similar subject in various
lights, at various hours of the day, and through the

Religion, Religion And Mythology
If religion is a mythology, then is a mythology a religion? Well, Religion and mythology may
seem like too different things, but yet they still do overlap on some aspects. Both talk about a
system that has a high importance to many people. Religion is based an organized collection of
beliefs, culture, and perspectives, that s spread around the world. While, mythology is referred to
a collection of myths which is told by a group of people. This is used to explain nature, history, or
customs!
Personally I believe in Islam, the religion. In Islam we believe that god (Allah) is the creator and
sustainer of every living thing. We believe that god created the world, universe and the heavens,
just like many other religions. Also, the founder of Islam is Muhammad; to Muslims he is Allah
s prophet. I believe that Islam is different than mythology because myths don t have a known
founder. They were just passed down through generations until someone decided to write them
down. Unlike Islam, Native American mythology believes that the world was created by a
crane. Natives mostly use animals as the center of their mythologies. Also, the natives believe.
God made some men of mud, but they were very soft and limp and couldn t see. They could
speak, but what they said didn t make sense. When they got wet they couldn t even stand up. God
saw that they were of no use so he broke them up. Muslims also believe that humans are made of

Especially during the high school ages, young people are constantly ask about their futures, and
although it is in good nature, the wanderertends to overstep and misunderstand. The first half of the
poem appears to speak to an individual s plan: the attachment to the thread, the necessary

Intuition has been a strong factor in my plans for after high school and it can be confusing for
another to understand. It is true, threads are unknowable to outsiders. However, empathy is a way
around the barrier. No one needs to understand everything, but humans need to be less narrow
minded for everyone to flourish. The title is an unqualified fact of life. Using simplistic words, the
title becomes matter of fact. After reading the poem, one would assume the title should include the
word thread because of how symbolic it is throughout the work. Stafford knows this feeling is
universal; the title indicates the reader will understand. Throughout the poem, the tone remains
unvarnished, playing to the logical side of the issue. People will always misunderstand others this
is the way it is.
By writing The Way It Is is second person, Stafford further explores the universal aspect of
explanation. In certain instances, one might think in second person, as possibly reassurance or
motivation. Once one disassociates themselves from montra, it can become more powerful, in a
way. This poem is able to speak to every individual reading it because this is how humans have
broad ideas. There is a unique relationship between the narrator and the reader, when second person
is used. Because second person is used, the reader begins to assume the narrator is an omnipotent

Guidelines For Taxonomy And Phylogenetic Terminology
Citation MLA
Zachos, Frank E. Tree Thinking and Species Delimitation: Guidelines for Taxonomy and
Phylogenetic Terminology. Mammalian Biology 81.2 (2015): 185 88. Web.
In your own words, what was the main focus of the article? There are multiple interpretations
concerning how phylogenetic trees are built and the understanding of the phylogenetic species
concept. A common mistake when it comes to interpreting phylogenetic trees, which portray
evolutionary relationships among taxa. Generally it is viewed as a ladder of progress, yet it is
not so simple and is often the most relevant error to occur among reports. Species delimitation
additionally plays a similar role in this article, in that it is misused when providing evidence of
species being divided; however, it is much harder to understand the varying outlooks. Overall, the
article focused on these mistakes un order to provide practical guidelines for phylogenetic and
taxonomic papers.
In your opinion, which was the importance of Figure 1? Explain why. Figure one is a correct
representation of a phylogenetic tree. It is important to the article due to the fact that it is a visual
that can be understood and compared to. The article focuses on the fact that phylogenetic trees
are generally incorrect due to a wrong impression. For example, not at any time will a tree be read
from left to right since there is no difference in whether a taxa is drawn on the left or the right side
of the tree. The only important

Rhetoric In American Sniper
Rhetoric is the persuasion of another to your ideals through the use of effective speech or
writings. American Sniper is a movie based on the book by Chris Legend Kyle and his life
before, during, and after being an American Navy SEAL sniper in Iraq. The book is named
American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History (2012) by
Chris Kyle, with Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice. In the movie American Sniper the rhetoricis used
to persuade the viewer on how horrifying warcan be on an individual. Viewers look at the elite
warrior, a U.S. Navy SEAL, and watch how through all the trials and troubles that he faced before
war were easily navigated by him. After returning from combat, the viewers watch how hard...

Kyle. The viewer is exposed to his devil may care easy going life from before he was in combat.
Yes, he was a fighter and he would fight to protect his younger brother. He was also shown to
laugh off catching his live in girlfriend cheating on him in his own house. He enjoyed life to the
fullest while competing in rodeo competitions. In the movie, before combat he smiles often and
has fun in most of the things that he does, to include his SEAL training. After his first
deployment however this has all changed. He is still upbeat to an extent, but he has lost so
much that he rarely smiles like he did before. Again this is a pretty factual portrayal of how
many people change after something so traumatic. As he keeps on going back to the fight, he
serves four tours, he keeps coming home with less and less of the man he was before he went
the first time. This hard and grizzled veteran has problems with going to the store and even being
with his wife. He has a hard time in normal dealings with people in their daily lives. It is a struggle
to even want to get out of the house for him during some

To A Mouse And To A Louse
The Critical Values Perceived Through To A Mouse and To A Louse
(A Discussion of To A Mouse and To A Louse )
Throughout life we are asked to analyze multiple different things. For example, take kids in
sports that are analyzing how they played in their previous game. Even some parents are known
to overanalyze their kids events which often leads to them getting ejected. Often times we are
asked to review stories or poems that we have read in English class and although at times that can
be hard we are all slowly getting better at it. Robert Burns To a Mouse and To a Louse has multiple
romantic philosophies.
First of all, there is the philosophy of worrying about only the present. He shows this a lot in the
poem To a Mouse. This is shown because even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown extremely well in To a Louse when the lady walks into the room and he spots a
little louse jumping around on her hat but he decides not to tell her because he knew if he did it
would make her feel like less of a person. Now hard ye there yere out o sight ( Line 19 from To a
Louse) When he says this, he is talking to the louse hiding under the woman s hat because he didn
t want anyone else to see it otherwise they might judge this woman who believed that she was
perfect. Often times we as people judge the person next to us or say something that might hurt their
feelings or be detrimental to someone s self esteem. We only care about ourselves and things that
will help us individually. Frequently self esteem can lead to multiple different consequences one of
them being stress. Among the individual differences that can explain capacities and risk factors in
terms of suffering from stress in the individual s self esteem (Dolan) I believe this is important to
understand because people commonly don t understand that what they say can hurt people in ways
that might not be imaginable by

Life Is Not Just About The Destination
The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments that you spend smiling with
someone you care about. Anonymous. The wisdom in this quote is ageless. Life is not just
about the destination; it is about the journey and who you spend it with. I would argue against
the quote and say it s not only about the people who can smile with you, but those who stand
next to you in hardship and struggle will give you the greatest reward. The following story
details how I found such a group of people. It is crucial in life to find someone who will share in
the small moments with you because in the end it is the small moments that you will remember
the most. (2)Smack! I felt the thundering impact across my back as Peyton lifted one of my legs
and kicked the other out from under me. The single leg takedown was one of the many moves
he had mastered that year. Winded, my body moved more out of instinct than conscious thought.
I immediately rolled to my belly, based up and then threw myself into a somersault across my
right shoulder, also known as a Granby roll. Peyton floundered after me as I stood, turned, and
took a reaction shot with the speed of lightning. As I lifted him into the air in a double leg
takedown, it was his turn to feel the pain of the all but soft mat below. Coach blew the whistle to
signal everyone to take a break and I helped Peyton up as our teammates and brothers headed for
the water bottles that the managers had filled for us. It had been a long

Which Jurisdiction Should Govern The Agreement Between The...
The issues are what jurisdiction shall be used to govern the deal between the parties, issues with
the formation of the agreement, warranties, warranty damages, consequential damages, search
costs, lost profits, recession. The first issue is determining which jurisdiction should govern the
agreement between the parties Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code, the Common law, or
the CISG? When the subject matter of a transaction is for the sale of goods, Article 2 of the
UCC is used to analyze the deal between the parties. Article 2 of the UCC governs the formation,
performance, and damages. When the subject matter of the transaction is not for the sale of goods
or is to provide a service, the common law is used to analyze the deal between the parties. The
Common law governs formation, performance, and damages. When the transaction is for non
consumer goods and between parties from different nations, the Contracts for the International Sale
of Goods is used to govern the transaction. The CISG governs formation, performance, and
damages. In this case, the party s agreement would be considered a hybrid contact as the agreement
includes a goods component, as well as a service component. Since the agreement between the
parties is a hybrid contract we can use the Predominate Purpose Test or the Gravamen Test to
determine whether the UCC or the Common law should govern. Using the Predominate Purpose
Test we can look at what the predominate purpose of the contract was for the

Content Reading Inferences
This week s reading covers many areas of content reading instruction such as the inferencing, word
recognition, explicit instruction in comprehension, strategies to increase comprehension and
retention, strategies to partner reading and content routine, and how to love and nurture our
students with God s word. All these areas play a vital role in growing independent readers.
Kaylene Beer pointed out several significant areas of reading comprehension that help students
increase their fluency. Inferences is a skill that helps students with their understanding of written
text. Content area teachers must model and give large amounts of practice for developing this skill.
Bear also discussed in chapter eleven word recognition which has a direct connection with fluency
and reading comprehension. As she pointed out students need a repertoire of skills beyond
sounding it out to help struggling readers with recognizing unfamiliar words (Beer,2003). We need
to teach students strategies that can be used to comprehend the text not just give the meaning of ...

Developing study skills is one way the content area teacher can help with retention of information.
Specific strategies discussed included knowing the purpose of the reading, rereading the text,

of the text to your life, and identify any organization patterns present (Roe, 2014). He went on to
discuss specific strategies such as PSRT, SQ3R, RIWAC, AND SQRQCQ (Math and Science). He
provided key areas of preparation such as: following and rereading directions and using visual aids
such as graphic organizers and maps to help students retain information. Students must also develop
a skill for determining what is important and what is not important. Having effective study skills is

Rhetorical Analysis – Other Voices, Other Rooms
In this essay, Other Voices, Other Rooms , Professor Gerald Graff offers that education at a
university could be exciting and rewarding for students. However, it applies to those who have
developed the skills at summarizing, weighing arguments and synthesizing conflicting points.
Unfortunately, not all students possess these skills and as they start getting confused they will
care more about appeasing the professor in order to obtain good grades. In return, they will give
their professors whatever they want even though it seems contradictory to their beliefs (339). Graff
believes that not all college students possess the skills necessary to be successful and that
professors are only making the issue worse by teaching in a vacuum.... Show more content on

Graff says that contrast is fundamental to learning and in order to fully grasp the concept, and the
subject needs to be understood in relation to other ideas. In his second example, in attempting to
strengthen his argument, Graff uses an academic reference, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions
by Thomas S. Kuhn. Kuhn says,
Both the literati and the scientist have remained largely walled up within their clashing assumptions
about objectivity, the smugness of which might have been punctured had these parties been forced
to argue with each other in their teaching (341). Even though Graff and Kuhn share the same
thoughts, Kuhn s reference does not provide any evidence to support his claims. He then
introduces Gregory Colomb, which his reference again doesn t add credibility; it detracts from the
essay because readers have to read the text several times just to get through this part of the writing.
Graff says, Imagine trying to write and academic paper when you send that almost anything you
say can be used against you and that the intellectual moves that got you an A in existentialist
philosophy may get you a C minus and a dirty look in Skinnerian behaviorism (342) . He goes on
to say, When students fail to identify a cultural literacy item on a test, the problem

Stereotypes In Sonny s Blues By James Baldwin
Stereotypes play a tremendous role in society. These popular, fixed, and oversimplified ideas
concerning different demographics can affect the way particular groups are viewed and how they
might act. This is because stereotypes often lead to circumstances that a person must face due to
their social identity. In James Baldwin s short story Sonny s Blues, the character Sonny reflects
Claude M. Steele s concept of identity contingencies found in a chapter from Whistling Vivaldi
through his academic, economic, and social statuses. Regardless of Sonny s difficulties, he strives
to refute the stereotypea black man living in the United States of America during the 1950 s
typically has and the contingencies that accompany it. In the chapter... Show more content on

As a young black male who values success, the narrator avoided contact with Sonny. The
attachment between the two siblings weakened greatly. This is clear when the narrator is asked
about how he will help Sonny, who at the time is in prison, and responds Look. I haven t seen
Sonny for over a year. I m not sure I m going to do anything (Baldwin 252). However, after the
death of the narrator s daughter, he decides to write Sonny. The reader can infer that the reason
this resolution occurred might be because the narrator saw the importance of cherishing those
around you, before the opportunity is missed. In A Broader View of Identity, the author showed
that a southerner might experience social avoidance when his accent is heard at a New England
cocktail party (Steele 68). This is relatable to Sonny s situation where his brother avoided him
possibly because of his heroin

The Breakdown Of The Titanic Disaster
Titanic Imagine going on what is supposed to be a magnificent vacation, but turns out to be a
horrendous disaster. The titanic was the biggest man made ship and was supposed to be an
unsinkable ship. Work began in 1909 in the massive Harland and Wolff yard. Titanic continued
nonstop until the spring of 1911. There was peace and the world had an even tenor to its way.
Nothing was revealed the morning the trend of which was not known the night before. It seems
to me the disaster about to occur was the event that not only made the world rub it s eyes and
awake but woke it with a start keeping it moving at a rapidly accelerating pace ever since with less
and less peace, satisfaction, and happiness. To my mind the world of today awoke April 15, 1912.

the second class had one electric elevator and to complete that they had people that were called

The iceberg that the titanic hit was approximated at fifty to one hundred feet high and two hundred
to four hundred feet long. I thought it would be a safe steamship, and I had heard it would not

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Food Stamps Eighteen percent of America is currently on food stamps. Why is that so? Food stamps allow just about anyone to qualify. Most of those on food stamps are able bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs) (Hoar). Why is it that so many people are on food stamps? Maybe because it is lenient with its rules. Being on food stamps does not give someone a comfortable and easy lifestyle, but it is comfortable enough. It is no secret that obesity is a growing epidemic in America. Food stamps are one of the major roots of the problem. Imagine getting to stay home and not have to go to work. The government sends checks in the mail to spend on groceries, but it gets better. The government does not prohibit the purchase of junk food. Those people can now indulge... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Less than one percent of America has what is considered a very low food security, yet eighteen percent of America is on food stamps (Hoar). There are many people in the surrounding area of Leedey, Oklahoma that are on food stamps. Most of them do not have any plans to make a change in their lives, and none of them seem to be struggling in regards to food. Many will say that it is not the government s job to control what people eat. The average person in America eats or drinks something that can be considered junk food every day. Why should the people on food stamps be limited on food when they are already limited to other expenditures? Seeing that it is everyone s right to eat what he or she wants, he or she should be able to buy junk food if it is he or she s own money. Food stamps are primarily run on government money. At least those who are not on food stamps who buy junk food can say that it is he or she s own money. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), food stamps, was created to get rid of hunger in the United States (Hoar). According to Robert Paarlberg of Harvard University obesity is the problem in most low income households, not hunger (2). Jen Fifield, the founder of a food pantry in Quitman County, claims that many public health and medical officials. . . [are] saying that the program. . . [is] feeding into the country s unhealthy habits and worsening the obesity epidemic. (1) This is supported by many statistics. Arkansas state Representative Mary Bently states that one in three adults in Arkansas are obese, and she is afraid that food stamps are enabling diabetes and obesity to rise (1). If junk food is continued to be accessed by those on food stamps, then it will be more than adults being affected by obesity. The children of America will eventually be affected by the leniency of food ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dispositional Optimism Research Paper Utilizing Dispositional Optimism Life is tough. Life forces humans to endure in a universe that may be completely random and nothing in it may hold any meaning aside from the arbitrary value that I attribute. Moreover, if nothing means anything in life, then there is no true reason in living. We are all just postponing the inevitable great equalizer we call death. Why not just skip the hardship, pain, and suffering that exists in this world and get straight to a place where we cannot feel its horrors anymore? When thinking thoughts such as these, I expect to find that such a negative, pessimistic disposition might not yield beneficial results. He is trying to grasp why his relationship with her ended a year ago and goes through several recollections to come to his conclusion. Woody Allenshows this in two different ways in his film through mental subjectivity and perpetual subjectivity. Overall the movie is mentally subjective. Alvy s Singer is the main character in the film and they hear his point of view as viewers observe the movie. His flashbacks, and inner thoughts that he allows us to hear are an example of mental subjectivity. The audience starts off by listening to the monologue of Alvy talking about how he feels about life through old jokes. All the while he is looking directly at the camera like he is talking directly to the audience, and he is. Even though the audience is looking at Alvy speaking to them, they are still inside his internal monologue. The watchers learn here that Alvy feels that life is full of loneliness, misery, suffering, and unhappiness and that it is all over much too quickly. The audience quickly learns that Alvy is a pessimistic person right at the beginning of the story. Another example of this concept is when Alvy literally revisits his past. He goes into his flashbacks and is a part in the story there in his current form. In one of the first scenes of the movie he is in his elementary classroom when younger Alvy is being scolded for kissing girls. He is there defending his younger self and is fully communicating with himself and others in the flashback. This is the first occurrence in the film showing his impulse for loving women and sets up the story to show his not so good luck with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Analysis Of The Book Coriolanus And Titus Andronicus Coriolanus and Titus Andronicus are Roman warrior heroes who both become maniacal revengers when Rome rejects them. Titus sees his revenge carried out, while Coriolanus gives up to his mother before his revenge is achieved. While Titus decisions allow him to experience victory and defeat, Coriolanus decisions cheat him out of the victory of revenge and he experiences only defeat at the hand of his once enemy, Aufidus. Firstly, the Romes that Coriolanus and Titus come from are very different place in custom and time. For Coriolanus, he comes from a Rome that is still run by the senate, before the time of Caesar. This Rome is less about conquest and more about the Republic. The people are still a minority in the government but because of mob mentality they play an important role in Coriolanus. Unlike Titus, Coriolanus is trying to get elected to the highest position possible under the republic. Titus comes from a Rome after the death of Caesar, but needs to be punctuated by the fact that it is a fictional Rome made by Shakespeare. In this fictional Rome, the people play little to no role and the microcosm is mostly centered on the upper crust of Roman society and the court. These versions of Rome play to the success and failure of both Coriolanus and Titus. In the opening of both plays, the title characters are described as Roman warriors who have retained hero status for their actions in war, defending Rome. Coriolanus is a hyper masculine figure who is loved by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the article, How is a Psychological Assessment Used, psychological testing is done to help a psychologist, better understand an individual and provide valuable insights into the individual s behavior, skills, thoughts and personality. An example of a psychological test is, the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) which evaluates thoughts, attitudes, and responses to questionable test materials. The TAT and its pictures evolved during the 1930s and early 1940s. The pictures used were in a constant state of flux with additions, deletions, and modifications (Morgan, W. G. 2002). The Thematic Apperception Test is an individual assessment, known as the picture interpretation technique. Whereas, the test taker is shown pictures and asked to tell a story about the pictures. The pictures used for this psychological test include cards which are, blank, male figures, female, ambiguous gender, and children. Most practitioners choose a set of approximately ten cards, either using cards that they feel are generally useful, or that they believe will encourage the subject s expression of emotional conflicts relevant to their specific history and situation (Cramer, P. 2004). The audience becomes aware of the disturbing scenes that happen during war combat. It becomes evident that war forces American soldiers must put their lives on the line in order to protect the American identity. American citizens should become more aware of what is occurring overseas, and appreciate the soldiers who are protecting our country. • 11. Alternate Theories On Women s Underrepresentation Alternate Theories on Women s Underrepresentation Initially it was thought that women were underrepresented in politics and elected office because they were underrepresented in the eligibility pool (Welch, 1978, 372). The idea was that women were socialized to believe that their duty was in the home raising children. As such, there were very few women in the eligibility pool, the typical jobs that have a tendency to lend themselves to a future in public office: law, business, and medicine among others (Welch, 1978, 373). This line of reasoning would suggest that all that has to be done to increase the proportion of women in public office is to increase their presence in such fields and disciplines (Fox, Lawless, and Feeley, 2001, 412). This explanation, however, falls short. The proportion of women in these careers has increased immensely and yet the disparity still persists (Fox and Lawless, 2011, 60). When considering potential factors that contribute to women s underrepresentation in elected office, another thought may be that perhaps voters just do not vote for women. Research shows that when women run they tend to win at the same rate as men and, furthermore, there is little evidence to suggest any kind of systemic bias against women at the polls (Lawless and Pearson, 2008, 67). However, additional research into the matter has qualified this claim. There is evidence that voters tend to view masculine characteristics being self confident, assertive, tough, and ... • 12. Theme Of Hospitality In Beowulf By demonstrating how the benign exchange of hospitality changes into a vicious cycle of assault and retaliation and how it ultimately leads to tragedy, Beowulf makes a point about the limits of hospitality, whereby nothing short of death can end the cycle of obligation. The world of Beowulf is constructed upon the rules of hospitality and requisites of reciprocity. As Marcel Mauss asserts, there are no free gifts. Regardless of time and place, a gift of any sort obliges a person to reciprocate the present that has been received (Mauss 9). While it might appear so, Beowulfs arrival at the shores of Denmark to proffer his help to Hrothgar to kill the monsters is not a simple act of selflessness. He partakes in a system of exchange that underlies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heardred s mistake in offering hospitality to the sons of Ohthere results in him being mortally rewarded with wounds from a sword (2386). Onela s treatment of Heardred s hospitality as treachery results in a cruel parody of hospitable exchange: a fatal sequence of assault and revenge. The fate of Heardred also serves to reaffirm that hospitality in this poem can never wholly seal itself from treachery and peril. Later on, in his report to King Hygelac after returning to Geatland, Beowulf speaks of how Hrothgar attempts to make peace between the Danes and Heathobards by marrying his daughter Freawaru to Ingel. In spite of the feud between the two sides, the Heathobards are obliged to host and entertain the Danes since a Danish princess is marrying the Heathobard king. But as Beowulf mentions, the spear / is prompt to retaliate when a prince is killed (2029 30). Paradoxically, the system of reciprocity here becomes a source of both Heathobards hospitality (as host) as much as their desire to retaliate against the Danes. Ultimately, the force of grievances outweighs the bond established through the offering of the bride as a gift: a guest who wears the heirloom snatched from the host s father has betrayed hospitality, which invites retaliation from the host. This suggests the limitations of hospitality as a principle of socio economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. William Berkeley In The 1676 Analysis In the 1670s, dissent from small farmers and frontiersmen marred the leadership of William Berkeley. Reasons, such as restrictions on the right to vote, high taxes, low tobacco prices, aristocratic leadership, and inadequate security against Native American attacks caused the dissent. Nathanial Bacon, a relative of William Berkeley, relocated from England in 1673 and became part of the administration in Virginia. Over time, the two disagreed on the issue of Indians (Rice, 2012). It was at this point that emigrants of English descent were conquering land through force. Some leaders in the Virginia governorship administration opposed this idea by preferring negotiations. In 1676, a civil war erupted because of disagreement among the colonists. Nathanial Bacon emerged as a leader of the people who lived on the frontier to protect them from attacks by Native Americans. It was evident that Nathanial Bacon was fighting the colonial government by urging poor farmers to express dissent by fighting the Native Americans and colonial government (Rice, 2012). This finding is different from previous studies that showed East Asian students to have difficulty understanding the academic content resulting in poor adjustment success (Lee, Farruggia, Brown, 2013). To test our main hypothesis, JASP was used to generate data through descriptive statistics, ANOVA and further post hoc analyses. Initially, we generated descriptive statistics to show the raw means. Table 3 shows a strong significance between the different categories of adjustment, F(2, 81) = 197.09, p .001, О·ВІ = .813; however, the significance was ambiguous. To see where the differencehappened, we conducted t test comparisons. When comparing local university adjustment with international university adjustment (t[4] = 1.990, p .05, d = .890), local social interaction with international social interaction (t[4] = 0.732, p .05, d = .328) and local academic achievement with international academic achievement (t[4] = .793, p .05, d = .355) no significance was found. In addition, the significant values were found when academic achievement was compared with university adjustment in domestic and international students. This was a potential error of key score differences between the categories (Table 2). Table 5 provides the complete list of all the comparisons and displays where the results showed significance. Through this statistical analysis, our second hypothesis failed to be true as well. Interestingly, an interaction was found to be significant for social interaction and academic achievement. I furthermore believe that the same methodologies will work for both organizations through an approach that promotes organizational design that goes beyond the quality circles or ad hoc problem solving teams. I would recommend to these two organizations to reduce the process to individual steps which will allow work to become restructured around the whole process instead of organizing work based on the traditional model that reduces the required skill at every level of work, producing boredom in the bottom level jobs and integrate a new system that connects the needs of the people with the work to be done, and those closest to the jobs help design the job. Love is piecemeal, and takes numerous hours, if not years, for two people to become paramours. This is not true of the romance between Helena and Demetrius, as the two fell in love in a single instant. Demetrius was bewitched by Oberon s magical elixir, and that is the only reason why the youth dotes on Helena. Before he was given the potion by the fairy king, Demetrius utterly detested Helena and loathed her. In truth, Demetrius did not even wish to see the girl, and was said to become sick merely upon seeing Helena. Therefore, it was only because of Oberon s involvement that those two people fell in love. Thus, their love is not true, and is entirely fictitious and fraudulent. In addition, the love between Hermia and Lysander relied on no involvement from Oberon to form. The fairy king s influence played no part in making them fall in love. • 34. Claude Manet – Impressionism – 19Th . Oscar-Claude Monet Claude Manet Impressionism 19th Oscar Claude Monet was a founder of French Impressionist painting, and the most consistent and productive expert of the movement s philosophy of communicating one s observations before nature particularly applied to plein air landscape painting. The expression Impressionism is from the title of his piece Impression, soleil levant (Impression, Sunrise), which was shown in 1874 in the first of the independent presentations mounted by Monet and his partners as an alternate choice to the Salon de Paris. Monet s aspiration of painting the French countryside drove him to embrace a technique for painting the same scene repeatedly, trying to catch the changing of light and the death of the seasons. Monet painted the subject twice, and it is unknown which of the two pictures was the artwork that showed up in the pivotal 1874 presentation, however more as of late, the Moscow picture has been favoured. Monet has been portrayed as the main thrust behind Impressionism . Essential to the art of the Impressionist painters was the comprehension of the effects of light on the local colour of objects, and the impacts of the contrast of hues with each other. Monet s long profession as a painter was spent in the quest for this aim. In 1856, his shot meeting with Eugene Boudin, a painter of little beaches, opened his eyes to the idea of plein air painting. From that time, with a short intrusion for military administration, he committed himself to hunting down better than ever strategies for painterly expression. In 1877 a progression of works of art at St Lazare Station had Monet taking a gander at smoke and steam and the way that they influenced shading and perceivability, being here and there misty and some of the time translucent. He was to further utilize this in study in the painting of the effects of mist and rain on the landscape. The investigation of the impacts of climate was to develop into various arrangements of works of art in which Monet often painted a similar subject in various lights, at various hours of the day, and through the ... Well, Religion and mythology may seem like too different things, but yet they still do overlap on some aspects. Both talk about a system that has a high importance to many people. Religion is based an organized collection of beliefs, culture, and perspectives, that s spread around the world. While, mythology is referred to a collection of myths which is told by a group of people. This is used to explain nature, history, or customs! Personally I believe in Islam, the religion. In Islam we believe that god (Allah) is the creator and sustainer of every living thing. We believe that god created the world, universe and the heavens, just like many other religions. Also, the founder of Islam is Muhammad; to Muslims he is Allah s prophet. I believe that Islam is different than mythology because myths don t have a known founder. They were just passed down through generations until someone decided to write them down. Unlike Islam, Native American mythology believes that the world was created by a crane. Natives mostly use animals as the center of their mythologies. Also, the natives believe. God made some men of mud, but they were very soft and limp and couldn t see. They could speak, but what they said didn t make sense. When they got wet they couldn t even stand up. God saw that they were of no use so he broke them up. However, empathy is a way around the barrier. No one needs to understand everything, but humans need to be less narrow minded for everyone to flourish. The title is an unqualified fact of life. Using simplistic words, the title becomes matter of fact. After reading the poem, one would assume the title should include the word thread because of how symbolic it is throughout the work. Stafford knows this feeling is universal; the title indicates the reader will understand. Throughout the poem, the tone remains unvarnished, playing to the logical side of the issue. People will always misunderstand others this is the way it is. By writing The Way It Is is second person, Stafford further explores the universal aspect of explanation. In certain instances, one might think in second person, as possibly reassurance or motivation. Once one disassociates themselves from montra, it can become more powerful, in a way. There are multiple interpretations concerning how phylogenetic trees are built and the understanding of the phylogenetic species concept. A common mistake when it comes to interpreting phylogenetic trees, which portray evolutionary relationships among taxa. Generally it is viewed as a ladder of progress, yet it is not so simple and is often the most relevant error to occur among reports. Species delimitation additionally plays a similar role in this article, in that it is misused when providing evidence of species being divided; however, it is much harder to understand the varying outlooks. Overall, the article focused on these mistakes un order to provide practical guidelines for phylogenetic and taxonomic papers. In your opinion, which was the importance of Figure 1? Explain why. Figure one is a correct representation of a phylogenetic tree. It is important to the article due to the fact that it is a visual that can be understood and compared to. The article focuses on the fact that phylogenetic trees are generally incorrect due to a wrong impression. The issues are what jurisdiction shall be used to govern the deal between the parties, issues with the formation of the agreement, warranties, warranty damages, consequential damages, search costs, lost profits, recession. The first issue is determining which jurisdiction should govern the agreement between the parties Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code, the Common law, or the CISG? When the subject matter of a transaction is for the sale of goods, Article 2 of the UCC is used to analyze the deal between the parties. Article 2 of the UCC governs the formation, performance, and damages. When the subject matter of the transaction is not for the sale of goods or is to provide a service, the common law is used to analyze the deal between the parties. Rhetorical Analysis – Other Voices, Other Rooms In this essay, Other Voices, Other Rooms , Professor Gerald Graff offers that education at a university could be exciting and rewarding for students. However, it applies to those who have developed the skills at summarizing, weighing arguments and synthesizing conflicting points. Unfortunately, not all students possess these skills and as they start getting confused they will care more about appeasing the professor in order to obtain good grades. In return, they will give their professors whatever they want even though it seems contradictory to their beliefs (339). Graff believes that not all college students possess the skills necessary to be successful and that professors are only making the issue worse by teaching in a vacuum.... Graff says that contrast is fundamental to learning and in order to fully grasp the concept, and the subject needs to be understood in relation to other ideas. In his second example, in attempting to strengthen his argument, Graff uses an academic reference, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions by Thomas S. Kuhn. Kuhn says, Both the literati and the scientist have remained largely walled up within their clashing assumptions about objectivity, the smugness of which might have been punctured had these parties been forced to argue with each other in their teaching (341). Even though Graff and Kuhn share the same thoughts, Kuhn s reference does not provide any evidence to support his claims. He then introduces Gregory Colomb, which his reference again doesn t add credibility; it detracts from the essay because readers have to read the text several times just to get through this part of the writing. Graff says, Imagine trying to write and academic paper when you send that almost anything you say can be used against you and that the intellectual moves that got you an A in existentialist philosophy may get you a C minus and a dirty look in Skinnerian behaviorism (342) .
