In our second "Know The Law" video, we explain concepts such as "administration of estates", "executors" and "probate".

Know The Law: What Should You Do If Your Car Is Stopped By The Police?Jason Nathu
After a week of tragic events in the United States, including allegations of police brutality, racially motivated killings and the slaying of five police officers, we thought that we’d ask the question: “What should you do if your car is stopped by the police in Trinidad and Tobago?”
It goes without saying that you should generally be polite and compliant, but there are a few things to keep in mind. These issues are addressed in our third #KnowTheLaw information guide.
The Hugh Wooding Law School Human Rights Law Clinic aims to assist the average citizen to understand how the law works and how it can protect you.
Some of the content in this guide was adapted from the Street Law Handbook produced by our friends at Street Law South Africa.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

this product?

3. iMac Desktop
The iMac was an integral piece of hardware I used throughout
the planning, production and evaluative stages. Before I began
my foundation portfolio, I had never used an iMac computer.
During this process I have learnt how to use the iMac to a good
standard.
4. SLR Camera
I used the SLR camera during the production stage of the
process. The camera was used mostly for taking the pictures
that I used in my product. I developed my ability to manually
focus with a camera in order to make my images look crisp and
professional.
5. Lighting Equipment
I used the lighting equipment in my production. When taking my
images I used the lighting equipment to enable my pictures to
look professional. I had never used any lighting equipment
before I started and from taking test shots and practicing
changing the lighting dials I learned how to take more
professional photos.
6. Mobile Phone
I used my own mobile phone when taking practice shots to learn
photography skills such as the rule of thirds. I also used the
phone to take photos of the location I used for my images. I
developed my ability to transfer images form my phone onto a
computer device through using a Bluetooth connection.
7. Scanner
I also used a scanner to import my flat plans, model release
forms and my prelim plans. This helped me as it meant I could
draw out my plans first and include them in my blog and also
meant I could get signatures for my model release forms.
8. Photoshop
Photoshop was an important piece of software in creating my
product. I used Photoshop to create my front cover as it allowed
me to edit photo’s. While using Photoshop I developed my
ability to edit photos to make them replicate professional
practice. I used Photoshop as it is a simple and effective way of
editing images and also enabled me to use layers effectively to
make text appear behind the image.
9. InDesign
I used InDesign to produce my contents page and my double
page spread. Through working with InDesign I have developed
my ability to navigate through InDesign. Through doing this I
have also been able to use the specific tools that are available in
InDesign such as the rectangle frame tool. I used InDesign as it is
simple and easy to use and it allowed me to add text to write
articles and include text on my contents page.
10. Microsoft Word
I used Microsoft Word to create my model release forms, call
sheets and recce of my location. Through using Word I have
developed my ability to create tables and also developed my
ability to import pictures into a document. Microsoft Word is a
useful tool as it allowed me to create tables with text and also
allowed me to write up my article in draft form before I began
writing it fully.
11. Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft PowerPoint has been a helpful tool for the planning
and evaluation of my product. I used PowerPoint in planning for
creating a slideshow of what were the typical characteristics of
my chosen genre. Through doing this I have developed my
ability to include images on a PowerPoint. I chose to use
PowerPoint as it is an effective way of displaying information in
a clear and easy to follow way.
12. Internet
I used the internet for all of my research through using websites
such as ‘Google’. I also used the website ‘Blogger’ to record my
progress throughout the project. Another website that I used
was the social media site ‘Twitter’. I used Twitter to create a plan
of action using a hash tag. Moreover, I also used ‘Prezi’ which is
an online presentation device which allowed me to display my
planning of some aspects of the project. The internet was a key
tool for research and planning in this project.
