3. I phone 5 camera/ Canon EOS 600D
A form of technology that I used whilst constructing my media project was my I phone 5
camera , although the camera that I used from my phone had Camera resolution: 8
megapixel which was really good as i was able to crop and edit pictures and even change
the balance on the lighting whilst taking the picture . This was very useful for my project as
I could easily carry my phone around and take excellent pictures with no hassle . After
taking the picture and when importing I found that the camera resolution changed as I
imported the pictures onto the computer therefore decided to use a professional
photography camera Canon EOS 600D camera as the resolution stayed the same even
when I imported the pictures onto the computer. I've learnt that this camera had more
functions than my phone camera and also produced high quality pictures which made the
pictures look professional. I have also learnt whilst taking the photo if you gently pressed
down on the shutter it will focus on specific parts which will give you a better quality
photo.

4. IMac Apple Computer
One of the technology which I used in school to construct and create my
media product was an IMac apple computer. I found this very useful as it had
software's which I did not have at home on my computer and it enabled to
use software's such as Photoshop and in design which allowed me to create
my media product. I've learnt how useful this computer is because of all its
access and also how to work it as it was my first time using an apple Mac.

5. Keyboard and Mouse
This allowed me to preform short cuts such as ctrl + T (transforming tool),
cmd + C (copy), cmd + V (paste) , cmd + Y ( redo) and cmd + Z (undo). This
allowed me to edit and preform tasks quickly. The keyboard also obviously
allowed me to input text and information which was very essential when
making a magazine. The mouse was a great use of navigation device which
gave me the ability to select, edit and delete specific things; it was probably
the most used hardware overall.

6. Soft Boxes/Background
This technology soft box hardware was very useful as it allowed me to produce high
quality pictures because of the lighting they gave off. they disperse the light and give a
softer, rounder light on the subject. I've learnt how useful it is using soft boxes as it
produces a better and effective image. Also background is very important, I've learnt that
having a plain white back ground behind the subject is much easier to cut around when
using the magnetic tool on Photoshop. I also used sunlight from my bed room window as
some of the pictures I have taken were at home. And also pictures which I took outside
on a sunny day.

7. Memory stick/SD Card
Another technology which is a hardware equipment is my memory stick and
SD Card. I used a memory stick to save my coursework that I did in school and
then work on it at home which was very useful. I also used a SD card to
import my pictures that I took with a camera and then import it into to a
computer. I've learnt how important it is to have a memory stick as you are
able to back up your work which is very important when or if something
happened to your work and this will prevent you from losing all your work.

9. Adobe Photoshop
A technology software that I used in the
construction of my music magazine is Adobe
Photoshop . This software was essential to my
magazine product as it helped to develop and
improve the images that used in my magazine. I
was able to learn how to crop the images using
the magnetic tool and how to enhance texts by
using the design tool. With Adobe Photoshop I
was able to manipulate my images by changing
the background colors, enhancing and brightening
the photographs to make the magazine attract to
my target audience by making specific features
stand out and look professional to fit the
convention of an R&B and Pop magazine. At first it
was hard to use Adobe Photoshop as I was unsure
of how to use some of the toolbars and how to
manipulate the layers until our teacher went
through it with was in class. And by using these
tools when creating my product I started getting
used to it and eventually got the hang of it and
made me realized how useful Photoshop is to the
media industry.
One of this things I found very
complicated was duplicating
the layer on Photoshop and
then layer via copying onto
the page. I was used to just
using copy and paste on
normal computers. I then got
uses to this and it became
very easy to do.
As you can see here this is
where I am using the
magnetic tool layer which
allowed me to cut out specific
parts. Having a plain
background made it very easy
to cut out.
I found this free
transformation tool feature
very useful as it allowed me to
re shape and change sizes of a
picture. This allowed me to
get the specific picture I
wanted.

10. In DesignAdobe's digital publishing platform InDesign has a lot of features which makes it essential for everything.There are many tools which are very
useful in In Design. The primary tools used to select, rotate and size objects. I also used tools to edit text and create frames with or without
borders, switch tools using your keyboard, and navigate with the hand and zoom tools.
I first started off with a plain A3
layout and then in order to get
my article onto indesign I had
to go on file and then "Place".
From there I had to navigate
for my article in my computer
and just click open to place it in
indesign.
I then continue onto highlighting specific text that I want in a different color
for example here I wanted the question in red. In order to do that I went
onto small icon that has capital T, by doing so it gives a drop down section
where you are given a barites of colour to choose from.
After I have I got my article transferred onto in
design, I then continued to insert the text onto the
article. This is done by going onto where the essential
tools are placed; such as the text tool. I highlighted a
specific space where I want my text to be placed and
then i copied & pasted from word where my article
text was and onto my text area. After I have place
my text onto my article I then want to apply the drop
cap feature. I do this by going clicking "type" and
then clicking paragraphs. This results in a small table
popping out, I go ahead and highlight the paragraph I
want drop capped. After that click the up right arrow
at the bottom right of the table (highlighted in red)
and the first letter of the paragraph will being to
enlarge.

11. Internet Explorer
One of the other technologies software's that where used whilst constructing
this project was the use of the Internet itself, as for me it was essential in the
use of producing this project as I was able to use the internet for secondary
research and look up existing magazines on Google to get inspiration and ideas
from. The internet also helped to look for resources such as searching on
YouTube layer via copy and manipulate images on Photoshop and such as
going on the in design webpage and learning how to use the toolbars
presented on in design. The internet also allowed me to get access to my blog
page is word press and allowed me to update my coursework on their.

12. Coursework update/uploadWord press
Word press is a internet software which was a blog and where I uploaded my coursework progress. At first it was
difficult learning how to construct and present my blog on word press and learning how to post blogs and adding
pages or inserting images on to the blog. Within a week I understood how to use it and it has been a very useful
tool for my project to upload my coursework.
PowerPoint and Slide share:
I used PowerPoint to display my coursework for my blog in a more visually pleasing way than just plain text on a
page for every blog post. I then uploaded the PowerPoint files onto Slide share which then gave me a Word press
short code for me to embed my PowerPoint presentations onto my blog. I've done this as it allowed me to show the
marker my knowledge of media representation.
Prezi:
I also used prezi which was another pleasing way to upload my coursework to. Prezi allows users to have wider
range of freedom than Microsoft power point, its very easy to grasp it, there isnt too many tools and function that
would confuse a first time user. key feature is you are able to control the "camera" movement, so that it can focus
on a certain part of the presentation and maybe even zoom in further, there is no limits.

13. Conclusion
I used various types of technologies such as hardware's to software's
to construct my product. All which I used to create and develop my
media product which were all very useful. This helped me raise
awareness to realize how important technology is to the publishing
sector. In the magazine industry, technology is used not just to use
technologies like In design, Illustrator and Photoshop they also use
technologies such as security software to protect their products,
magazine industries also use the internet and blogs as part of
marketing to research what their targeted audience is asking for. This
made me realize that technology is of great importance to the
magazine industry as it can be used for various things.
