The target audience for the media product is teenagers aged 15-25 who enjoy the hardcore music scene. The magazine is primarily aimed at male fans of hardcore bands. While most of the bands featured are up-and-coming, including some bigger bands could make the magazine appeal to more people. Market research found that £2.50-£3.50 would be an acceptable price range, so the magazine is priced at £3 to hit the average and compete with similar magazines priced at £3.99.

I targeted the audience for my media product at teenagers from the ages of 15-25. The style of the
product appeals to people in the Hardcore scene of music. My magazine is mainly targeted at
males, and there is a visible lack of females within the product. This is because there are more male
bands within the Hardcore community than there are female bands. The front cover highlights the
tone of the Mise-En-Scene as it shows attitude. The magazine also features hints of Rock, which
could attract Rock fans into buying the magazine as well as Hardcore fans. As the magazine is
predominantly a male centred magazine, it would attract less female fans. But if I was to make a
second issue of the magazine, I would feature more females as it balances out the audience
between male and female, and makes the product more appealing. As the magazine features
mainly up-coming bands in the scene, I would also feature bigger bands as the magazine would not
sell enough issues if nobody has heard of the bands that are in the magazine. However, the less
known bands relate more to my target audience as they are around the same age as the target
audience. From my survey that I conducted with my target audience, the average price was
between £2.50 and £3.50, so I priced my magazine at £3 because it is in the centre of both average
prices, and it is fairly cheap for a bi-monthly magazine. Rock Sound charges £3.99 for their
magazine, and so if I charge £3 for mine, it would increase competition. Also, if it increased more
competition, it could also make the magazine the chosen product amongst my target audience. As
most Hardcore bands are within the age range that I placed, it fits in with my target audience.
