I learned several things from using various technologies in constructing my music and college magazine:
1) Photoshop CS2 was effective for basic editing but CS4 was needed to learn more advanced tools, and both were used extensively to design the magazines.
2) InDesign CS2 was used for tutorials but CS4 was crucial for learning layout functions like layers and inserting images, and was key to producing the magazine.
3) Google Chrome browser and Google Image search helped with research, while Dafont.com provided fonts used in titles and subtitles.
4) Different versions of Mac and Windows OSes were used on various computers but sometimes slowed down the creation process.
Berkeley is proud to present a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It is rare that a scheme on such a grand scale is created at the heart of the capital. Rarer still for it to be
adjacent to one of London’s most recognisable landmarks. One Tower Bridge consists of several distinct buildings, each contributing to an elegant whole. Cambridge House is
among the most desirable, with all apartments offering stunning views of the river, Tower Bridge and the Tower
of London. This is an opportunity to come home to the ultimate address in the most exciting city in the world.

1. Q6 – What have you learnt about technologies from the process of construction this process?
I used two versions of Photoshop to produce my music and college magazine:
CS2- I learned that cs2 is a low power but effective tool for using in conjunction with cs4 and that it
is good for my computer at home which is significantly less powerful than the Imac's available at
college. The cs2 software is backwards and forwards compatible with cs4.
CS4- I learned the most basic functions of Photoshop on cs4 and I struggled along using it the first
couple of weeks until after reviewing the tutorials available on YouTube I discovered how to use the
magic wand tool and the brush tool to hide a majority of an image and quickly work through my
magazine images. The learning curve was steep and it took a while for me to understand and work
Photoshop but I managed it.
Both Photoshop versions were very important in allowing me to edit, design and create my
magazines and was the main tool I used on the computers.
I used two versions of Indesign to construct a contents page and to construct my article. I did this by
using insert functions and page creation to insert pictures into certain positions and to make the
Indesign template have two pages instead of one making the article into a double page spread.
Versions used:
Cs2- Cs2 was used to recall tools and how to create a two page spread, essentially a tutorial for
myself to look over. Cs2 is not backwards or forwards compatible with CS2.
Cs4- This tool was used the most in the production of my magazine and was where I learned most of
my knowledge on how to use Indesign. I was shown how to open an image and update it while it had
been edited in Photoshop. I learned how to open the layers menu which is hidden and does not
appear by default. I created rectangles using the rectangle tool and then had to manually insert
pictures into each one and then text wrap it.
2. Overall the Indesign software was very useful and was not flawed in any way.
I used Two Google products in my coursework:
The first was the Google Internet browser Chrome which was very helpful in allowing me to conduct
research on music magazines unrestricted and in a free form way which was very helpful as I had
tried and had to have a lot of patience with other web browsers that did not work.
The second function I used was Google image search which I used to find information on magazines,
find logos and see font designs.
I used the website Dafont.com for my fonts on my magazine
I used Dafont to get fonts such as Basica 2.0 and Coolvetica which were used in my titles and
sub-titles in my magazine.
I used two software versions on two computers to complete my coursework:
I used mac os lion from the Imac to take screen shots and to used the CS4 version of photoshop and
Indesign
I used windows 8 on my hp g6 laptop to take screenshots and I used it to run Photoshop and
Indesign CS2 versions.
Both software's were really clunky, slow and affected my speed and performance when I was
creating my magazine.
3. I used Youtube to embed videos which became:
Very helpful for explaining tutorials
It was very handy and was very quick to use
There is no downside to it,
I used slideshare to upload and embed:
Powerpoints and word documents to wordpress
This was used to show how the process was done without uploading media
Wordpress was the main source of my blogging and was also a record of what I had done:
However the website would be down occassionally
It would not respond correctly
It would react wrongly to submitted posts.
