Overall I gained experience with new technologies like Photoshop, Slideshare, and Prezi to produce high quality work.

I learned to use several technologies in constructing my magazine, including a Nikon digital SLR camera to take high-quality photographs, Adobe Photoshop to edit the photographs and give them a professional look by adjusting exposure, contrast, and other settings, and Quarkxpress to lay out the double page spread and contents page by creating columns and inserting images from Photoshop using the picture box tool. I also used Blogger.com to post my work for marking and Dafont.com to find appropriate fonts to download and use in the magazine to match the target audience.

- 1. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? Hardware tecnholgy: Mac, camera, SD card, tripod. Software technology:In design, Photoshop, Wordpress, Dafont, Excel, Word. Above are all the technology processes I used whilst constructing the product. I have learnt a lot about various ways of making specific features on a magazine and what is needed to create a good one. I found the software hard to use at first but with constant use of them it finally got easier towards the middle stage of the process. New technologies which are available for us ultimately make it easier and accessible to create such distinct work. New technology is inescapable as we use technology every day. The difference in having the ability to use new technology for media is the quality of the work. Without the hardware and software products I doubt I would have been able to create the final magazine.
- 2. 1. Microsoft word was used in production and planning of not only my blog but my research into what my magazine should consist of. 2. Photoshop was used in combination with Microsoft word. I used Photoshop to ultimately create the products and edit in the images with the fonts and build upon a finished magazine. I used and learned to use the lasso tool in order to crop out images and place them onto my double page spread. 3. Word-press was used to create and handle my blog. Word-press also links in with Microsoft word as I used some of the text off of word onto the blog which was mostly all of my evaluation questions and research at the early stages of the product making. 4. In Design was used to create the double page spread. I found this the hardest software to use as it was very complicated as I had never seen or heard of it before so it took a lot of time to get used too but in the end I found it created the double page spread better than the Photoshop version would have and the outcome was a lot better. 5. Dafont.com is a website that generates exclusive fonts available to download. I felt using dafont helped make the magazine unique. From previous research fonts are essential in making the magazine unique and stand out. I found my font for the main title ‘pulse’ on the website which I think gives my magazine the edge. Technology products I used: 1. The canon camera helped take high quality images and helped with the zooming in process and getting a finer image. I used a camera stand at some points of the photo shoot so I got a steady focus and made sure the camera wasn’t off balance. I felt the camera really made a difference to the images and the quality really showed.
- 3. 2. I used the computer to upload my photos onto the documents and software. I found the Mac helped as it had all the updated software on it and it made it faster and easier to use all the new versions of In design and especially Photoshop. Without the computer I wouldn’t of been able to construct my magazine and create all the graphs and layers of the product. 3. I used an SD card for the Canon camera to transfer the images onto the desktop in order to produce the images for the final product.
