1. 4. HOW DID YOU USE NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES? I used many new media technologies when creating my media coursework and within this PowerPoint, they are listed and described, telling you when they were used and why they were used.
2. Firstly, the most obvious technological product i used to produce my coursework, was the Mac! All of my research, image uploading, font downloading and Photo Shop design occurred on the Mac. I had never used a Mac before creating my media coursework; it was very difficult and stressful to establish how to work the system however, the reward of creating magazine pages on it, is very rewarding. Mac;
3. All of the designing and creating of my front cover, contents page and double page spread occurred in Photoshop; it has many different tools that you can use including; An eraser tool, marquee tool, rectangle tool, background eraser tool, smudge tool, pen tool and many more! It also allowed me to edit my photos giving me the option to edit the colours (which i applied in my DPS), and the contrast of the images (which i applied in all 3 of my designs). It took a lot of time to establish and use the many options available to you; it was extremely beneficial to research on the Internet the ways in which you are able to use Photoshop, therefore knowing when to apply effects to your work. Once i had established how to work Photoshop, it became very enjoyable, and the success of a finished product is very rewarding considering i have never used Photoshop before! Photoshop;
4. All of my deconstructions, image PowerPoint's and general PowerPoint's were uploaded via Slideshare; they condense your PowerPoint allowing you to post them onto your blog. I think the use of a PowerPoint is very beneficial as it reduces the space that a post takes up, thus you are able to display a bigger variety of posts upon one page, impressing anyone viewing your blog. Slideshare;
5. I used a scanner to upload my initial plans for my front cover, contents and double page spread and, to upload my hand drawn logos. It was very beneficial, especially when documents were hand drawn as planning a rough sketch can be a lot easier via hand, then what it would be doing it on a mac. Scanner;
6. To take my images, i used a camera and uploaded them via a memory stick. I also frequently used my memory stick to back up all of my creations of photoshop, just in case they were unexpectedly lost. Also, because i had my designs saved on my memory stick, i was able to carry out further work on my coursework at home. Memory Stick;
7. Blogger is the programme i used to upload and keep record of my progress; i updated my blog on average, twice a week, illustrating any changes in my magazine designs, or any research i had carried out influencing my coursework. Blogger is very useful to portray frequent creative work, and it is great for gaining audience feedback! I have never used Blogger before, therefore i found it fun to establish how it works, and to personalize it. Blogger;
8. I used both Microsoft excel and Microsoft word in my media coursework. To type up and produce my questionnaire, i used word , and to display the results afterwards, i used excel. Both programmes portrayed the information very clearly and concise. Excel & Word;
9. Google was a huge aspect of my media coursework; it allowed me to research, download and blog any media work. In particularly on Google, i used YouTube and Dafont. Youtube was used to upload my webcam entries and Dafont was used to establish different fonts to use on my front cover, contents and double page spread.
