Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
3. BLOGGER
• This platform showcased the journey through my research, planning, construction and
evaluation.
• I found this reliable and meant that I could present all of my work with dates listed on
each of my blog posts.
• If I were to start again, I would continue to use Blogger as it made everything so much
easier as I didn't need to worry about imputing dates. It also allowed me to insert
YouTube clips with ease.
• Over the course I found that the layout was basic but it allowed me to keep my work
organised with labels.
4. YOUTUBE
• This video hosting website was very useful for uploading my different videos
produced throughout all stages of the course i.e. Pitch Evidence, Short Film
• It was also compatible with Blogger which made it easier to link my videos with
my blog.
• I would still continue to use this website if I started again as I found it very
reliable.
• The issue I did have was the amount of time it took to upload videos as my 5
minute film took 3 hours to upload.
• It was also a great platform for presentation as I could label my video that I was
uploading and create a thumbnail which best presented what my video was
about.
6. SOUND CLOUD
• The use of sound cloud improved the creativity of my research.
• It was a reliable source in which I could upload my voice recording for my
magazine film review analysis'.
• I would use this in future as it was easy to upload and was a straight forward
process to place this sound clip on my blog.
• Throughout my research, I decided to only use this for my magazine film reviews
as this website was simply yet effective for presenting my findings.
7. IMOVIE
• iMovie was a successful way to present my other magazine film review analysis.
• This was because I was able to highlight certain aspects of the review by zooming in
on the page.
• It also had many different transitions that I could use in order to make it look more
presentable.
• I found this easier to use for small tasks like my research as the basic tools was all I
needed.
• This was quicker and allowed me to complete my research quickly. It was also
accessible from home so meant that I had more access to my work.
9. IPHONE
• My phone was useful for taking pictures of my film reviews that I was going to
analyse.
• It was also accessible as I always have my phone on me. This allowed me to do
research on my phone when I was on the go.
• I was also able to do voice recordings on my phone through an app. This meant
that I had easy access to a microphone instead of buying one.
• This also allowed me to search for the poster when writing. It meant I had easy
access of the item I was analysing.
10. MACBOOK
• My MacBook assisted me during the research stage as it was accessible from home.
• I was able to use iMovie from it and allowed me to edit my research analysis movies
anywhere.
• Internet was also available and meant that I could access any of my work and log into
my blog from anywhere.
• Writing up my research was made easier and more efficient as I was able to type it
without having the worry of losing pieces of paper.
• My iPhone and MacBook worked well together as I could easily airdrop
documents and voice recordings from one device to the other quickly and
saved me time.
12. SURVEY MONKEY
• This website has been very useful for collecting information from the target audience.
• It allowed me to ask questions to the viewers of my media products and get responses that were
honest (anonymous questionnaires).
• Another reason why this worked well was because people didn't have to send it back to me. It
was easily done through digital technology and meant that people could do it when they were
free.
• Easy for me to collect data as all answers get sent back to the platform and means that I don't
have lots of paper copies.
• Analysis of the answers was easy as it laid out each question with all the answers clearly so that
any correlations and patterns could be seen
14. SOUND CLOUD
• Website which allowed me to browse royalty free music and copy-right free music
with ease.
• I was also able to embed the clip in my blog posts.
• This was vital to my planning as I couldn't find another website that allowed me
to download copy-right free music easily.
15. POLYVORE
• Allowed me to put an outfit together and see what the finished look would be
like.
• I could pair accessories with the clothes and helped me to picture the overall
look.
• This was useful as it was on the internet and meant that I could search for any
item of clothing.
• It also meant that I could visualise the outfits without having my actors present.
16. STORYBOARD THAT
• My storyboard was created on a website called Storyboard That which allowed
me to insert characters to represent different sections.
• It allowed me to easily build a storyboard and I could access it from any device
that had access to internet.
• This allowed me to create sketches of what the scene would look like and have a
clear understanding on what was happening in each frame.
17. POWER DIRECTOR
• My Pitch was edited using PowerDirector as it allowed me to insert multiple clips
at the same time.
• This was accessible from my home laptop which meant that I could use it
wherever I had my laptop.
• I found that this wasn't as reliable because the software was slow at processing
and meant that everything took slightly longer.
18. EMAZE
• Emaze was another website that I found. It allowed me to present my pitch in a
more creative way.
• It was easily accessible from any device that had internet. This was great for when
I was working away from home.
• I also found that the presentation was much better than a general PowerPoint.
• I would definitely use this for future presentations as I felt it looked very
professional. Not only this but it meant that I could display all of my information
in an interesting way.
20. MACBOOK
• My laptop was very useful for keeping all of my planning documents. I was able
to take my work with me and work on it wherever I went.
• I found this much better than the school computer as my laptop was more
accessible.
• Throughout planning I used my MacBook to assist me in creating videos and
documents which would help me in my prep for creating my short film, poster
and magazine film review.
21. IPHONE
• My phone helped me to take pictures and videos for my planning. It also allowed
me to access my blog posts and many different websites.
• My phone was reliable for planning my products as it was always accessible.
• This was also a way to get feedback as people could look at my blog and then
text me their feedback.
• YouTube was also accessible from my phone and meant that I could view my clips
and watch short films to get inspiration.
23. POWER DIRECTOR
• PowerDirector was useful during my production as it allowed me to use different
transitions in order to make my film look more professional.
• I was also able to add multiple sound clips and videos on top of one another to
reach my desired effect.
• This was delayed at some points and meant that the editing process took a lot
longer than I had anticipated.
• Editing my short film worked out better on PowerDirector than iMovie as there
was more effects available for me to use.
24. PHOTOSHOP
• Photoshop was something that I hadn't used before and wasn't very experienced
with.
• I used this as I believed it would give the most professional finish to my poster.
• Tools I used included; magic crop, eraser, text, fade, blur, etc.
• This was an improvement from my previous choice of using word.
• I found that my end result looked great and had a very sharp finish.
• I was even able to include all of the conventions of a poster such as a billing block
and a tagline.
25. SOUND CLOUD
• Sound cloud was great throughout my production as the clips were easy to
download and insert into my film.
• The quality of music was great and the speed in which I was able to access the
music for my video was quick.
• I would definitely use sound cloud for my music again as I found it very reliable
and fast at downloading.
26. IMOVIE
• iMovie was used for my opening sequence. It had the basic features in which I
needed for my simple sequence.
• I found this was better than PowerDirector for this part as I didn't need anything
too complex.
• The overall outcome of my opening sequence was very effective with these
simple shots showcasing the credits.
• The quality was great as the pixels weren't distorted. This meant that the images
were clearly visible to the viewers.
27. BOOK WRIGHT
• I started my magazine film review on a PowerPoint but after doing research I
found this software on the internet that allowed me to use an actual magazine
template.
• This was great as it was fully customizable and allowed me to use the layout I
wanted. My text could be inserted and images placed wherever I want.
• The fonts available were also typical font styles that magazines use. This made the
finished product apply to more conventions of film reviews and look better
overall.
29. MACBOOK
• My MacBook was very useful for my production as I had access to iMovie and allowed me to
edit my opening titles from different places.
• I was also able to edit my magazine film review from my laptop as I had downloaded the
software onto my laptop.
• My laptop was very reliable and meant that I could edit some of my products outside of lessons.
• The problems with my laptop was that I didn't have access to Photoshop or Power Director
which meant that I had to wait until I was in lesson to edit these.
• I would still use this next time though as I was easily able to Airdrop photos from my phone to
my laptop.
30. DESKTOP COMPUTER
• The computer at school allowed me to edit my film through the programme
PowerDirector. However, the editing was slow as the computer kept freezing.
• Photoshop was also on the computer at school and meant that I could only edit
when I was in school.
• I found that the computers weren't very reliable as sometimes they would shut
down and could lose my work.
• In future I would try and use the desktop computers as little as possible as they
aren't very reliable and you can't take them around with you.
31. IPHONE
• My phone has been very useful during production as I was able to go to the train
station and take pictures for my poster as the quality of my phone camera is very
high.
• It was also portable and meant that we could easily have a photoshoot when we
wanted and could easily go back and take more images if needed.
• This also allowed me to post progress on my products when I didn't have access
to a computer. I did this through the blogger app.
• I was also able to do voice recordings on my phone which made it easy for me to
transfer to my film.
32. NIKON COOLPIX L810
• When filming my short film, I decided to use my own camera as I knew that the
school camera would be busy.
• By using my own camera it allowed me to film when it was convenient to me and
meant that I could film aspects again if I wasn't happy with the initial result.
• This was also a camera that I was used to and meant that time wasn't wasted
trying to figure out how the camera worked.
• My camera was reliable and allowed me to film quickly and start editing
everything ahead of schedule.
34. SLIDE SHARE
• Slide share has been very reliable and easy for me to use. I found out how to upload
my presentation very quickly to showcase my evaluation in a way that looked
effective.
• This has improved the creativity of my evaluation and made sure that it still looked
presentable.
• The negatives for Slide share is that I wasn't able to access this from a device without
internet access. I found this difficult to upload on-the-go and meant that I could only
upload my evaluation on a school computer or at home.
• I would use it next time as the presentation of my evaluation is much better than an
essay and you can access it through an app.
35. SOUND CLOUD
• Sound cloud helped me in uploading my podcast. I found it quick to download and
meant that I could upload the file easily onto my blog.
• It didn't take a lot of time to upload and meant that I could continue on with my other
evaluations.
• I would use it again as it was so simple to embed the file into blogger and meant that
the sound clip was heard perfectly.
• However, I was only able to upload when I had access to the internet as it was on a
website. This meant that I had to make sure I had prepared my video and was ready to
upload when I had access to internet.
36. IMOVIE
• iMovie has allowed me to edit my director's commentary and my audience video with ease.
• The effects available were perfect as I didn't need anything complex in order to present my
evaluation.
• I found this reliable as I could edit it wherever I went because it didn't need internet. I also
thought that the speed was much better than PowerDirector which helped me to finish my
evaluations on time.
• In the future I would definitely use this again as I thought the different transitions and the text
effects suited my evaluations.
• I was able to successfully edit my audience feedback video and my directors commentary
without any problems or losing any work.
38. IPHONE
• My phone was very useful as I was able to record my podcast anywhere. I also
didn't have to rush the planning of my podcast because I only had the
microphone for a limited time.
• The voice clip was easily airdropped to my MacBook and allowed me to easily
upload it to sound cloud.
• I also used my phone for voiceovers on my video as I found this a more
successful way than recording my voice on the laptop.
• I would definitely use my phone next time as it was accessible and reduced stress
of availability of the microphone.
39. NIKON COOLPIX L810
• My camera was very useful as I didn't have to be put on the school waiting list for
the camera.
• I could easily video whenever I wanted and didn't have to rush my planning.
• This also meant that I could re-record if I wasn't happy with the outcome.
• My camera has a built-in microphone and meant that I didn't have to input one.
• I would definitely use my camera next time as it made everything less stressful
because I could do things to my time.
40. MACBOOK
• My MacBook allowed me to edit my videos from home and made completing my
evaluation tasks easier.
• I was also able to plan on my laptop and easily airdrop clips which took seconds.
• I found this so much better than a different laptop as it was compatible with my
phone. I could easily link my devices and have access to my evaluation from both.
• If I was to do this again I would still use my MacBook as I found it very reliable
and had access to different features that a normal laptop wouldn't have, such as
iMovie.
