The student used various software, hardware, and online tools to complete their music video project. They used Premiere Pro to edit footage, Photoshop to create promotional materials, and YouTube and Blogger to share their work. A Canon video camera, tripod, lighting, and SD card were used to film footage, which was edited on iMac computers. Planning and research was done in PowerPoint, Word, and Storyboard That. The final video was shared through their blog by uploading to YouTube.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. BLOGGER
• I used blogger to showcase my work all in one place. Using blogger was difficult in first
year as I had to get used to converting my files to JPEG’s or uploading videos to YouTube
so they could be accessible on my blog. To convert files to JPEG’s I had to change the file
format from ‘PowerPoint Presentation’ to ‘JPEG File Interchange.’
3. YOUTUBE
• I used YouTube to upload my music video to. I had to convert my file from Premier Pro CC
2015 to 1080p file interchange and then the file saved as a Quicktime project. Next, I
logged onto my YouTube account and uploaded my music video. To then upload the video
onto my blog. I simply logged onto my blogger account and clicked on the film icon that
was is on the tool bar. I then selected ‘Import My YouTube Video’ and selected on my
video.
• I also used YouTube to research into existing music video’s such as in my textual analysis
I researched into the editing, mise-en-scene, sound and cinematography from two popular
‘pop’ genre music videos; Ariana Grande’s ‘One Last Time’ and R. City’s ‘Locked Away.’
Researching into existing music video’s allowed me to learn and understand the
conventions that are expected to be seen by the target audience in a ‘pop’ genre music
video.
4. PREMIER PRO CC 2015
• To edit and create my music video I used Premier Pro CC 2015. At first I found this piece
of software difficult to use. To set up my project I had to save all my raw original footage
to my file, otherwise I would have been streaming my video’s and the quality of the video
would not have been as strong.
• To begin creating my project I first had to import the music from my phone, onto the
computer. Next, I uploaded the music file onto my music video project to begin. The music
being put onto the project first meant that I could get specific timings for my footage to
been edited, and it also meant I could edit to the beat.
• The screen was sectioned off with two video sections. I could see my raw footage on the
left and my edited project on the right. The raw footage on the left meant I could select
whether to drag just the audio, just the video or both onto my editing timeline.
5. PHOTOSHOP
• I used Photoshop to create both of my ancillary texts. With already having some
knowledge about Photoshop from creating my music magazine in AS I knew I could try to
create a professional and pronounced DigiPak and Promotional Poster. To open up a file
on Photoshop you have to click on ‘File’ ‘New’ and then the middle screen will appear. I
had to make sure I had changed the ‘Preset’ to International Paper.
6. PHOTOSHOP
• Once I had clicked OK this white screen opened up which meant I had the base to edit my
Promotional Poster.
7. PHOTOSHOP
• I saved an image of crumpled paper to have as the background of my
ancillary texts. I chose to do this so I could add some texture to my ancillary
texts.
• Using layers on Photoshop got frustrating when I tried to change the colour
of my text and ended up colouring the full background red, but once I
remembered how to add layers and name them from last year my work
became a lot more organised and the making of my Promotional Poster and
DigiPak became a lot easier.
8. SLIDESHARE
• I used the Slideshare to showcase my planning and research in a different and unique
way.
• To use Slideshare I would create a PowerPoint presentation and then save it. Next I
logged onto my Slideshare account and clicked ‘upload’ I then had to name the
presentation and chose which category to put it in, for example I would always select on
education because my Slideshare presentations were always informative to the audience.
• To upload to my blog I had to click on the ‘share’ button and then copy the embedded
code to paste onto a new blogger HTML post. Once published the Slideshare was visible
to anyone that views my blog.
9. PREZI
• I used Prezi to showcase my work in a different and unique way.
• To create a Prezi I had to created a Prezi account. I then got to choose my template and
then I began to add the content that was necessary.
• To upload my completed Prezi onto my blog, I clicked the ‘share’ button and then the
button that said ‘copy code to clipboard’ to copy the embedded code. Next I then created
a new post on my blog, and pasted the embedded code onto the HTML and then
published the post. Everyone that then looks at my blog can watch the Prezi.
10. WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER
• I used Windows Movie Maker to create my animatic.
• I chose to use Windows Movie Maker to create my animatic because I had some
experience using it before, and I could use Windows Movie Maker on any available
computer in college and not just my allocated computer.
• I imported the music from my phone and transferred all the slides from StoryBoard That
and imported them onto my files then began to edit them. I choose the exact millisecond
that I needed to make the imagery fit with the lyrics.
11. OFFICE
• I used office for Word, Publisher and PowerPoint to do most of my planning and research
and my evaluation.
• I used PowerPoint so I could upload the presentation onto SlideShare to create a new and
unique way to showcase my work.
12. GO ANIMATE
• I used Go Animate to portray the hypodermic needle theory. This was the first time I used
this piece of software and surprisingly I found it easy to use. I selected a male and a
female character and then clicked on the ‘speech’ icon. Next, a box appeared where I
could then type in what I wanted my characters to say. The maximum the characters could
say at one time was thirty seconds.
• I couldn’t embed the Go Animate onto my blog because I would have to pay for premium,
so instead I had to save it to my Google Account (the same email as my blog address)
and then copy and paste the link. This then opens a new tab and my animation can then
be views
13. STORYBOARD THAT
• I used StoryBoard That to create my storyboard. It was very time consuming as it was
fiddly to uses and the actions of the characters and the background locations were
limited. Luckily, I found out that you could search for an image and then select from a
wide variety. For example, I searched for a brick wall and then I chose the one that was
closest to the design on the brick wall location I had planned to use in my music video.
15. CANON VIDEO CAMERA
• I used the Canon to film my music video.
• I have never used this type of camera before, so, I had to make sure I had it on the right
setting so that it took moving images and not still images. I also had to make sure I had
put my SD Card into the camera otherwise it wouldn’t have saved all my footage.
16. IMAC
• I used the iMac’s to do my planning, research and evaluation. I had never used an iMac
before, and I found them very difficult as the work I produced only saved to the iMac,
therefore resulting in me not being able to access my files on another computer. To
overcome this problem I had to remember to always keep my USB Stick on me.
17. LIGHTING
• I used lighting in the green room to help create both my ancillary texts. To use the correct
lighting I had to get my actors to stand in front of the white sheet and then choose the
right setting on the lights to make sure their shadows weren’t visible. As well as checking
the right intensity of the lights I had to make sure that the lighting didn’t look too artificial
and created a white light over their faces.
18. TRIPOD
• I used a tripod to make sure that my footage wasn’t shaky and the camera was still and
straight. This helped me to create a more professional and pronounced looking music
video. I could also use the tripod to tilt up and down my characters and to pan from left to
right to show a long, establishing shot.
• I also used the tripod to take the images for my promotional poster and digipak. This was
to make sure I could frame the image correctly.
19. SD CARD
• I had to use an SD Card to make sure that the footage I had filmed was saved all in one
place. The SD Card had to be placed in the back of the camera. At first, I did not know
where to put the SD Card so I had to ask.
• To import this onto a computer I had to use a card reader. Once my footage was on the
computer and saved to the hard drive I then put the SD Card back into the camera to
delete the footage so it didn’t take up too much storage space, as the SD Card I possess
is only 8GB.
20. CARD READER
• A card reader is a piece of equipment that allows the SD Card to connect to the computer
and access the footage that you have filmed. However, on a iMac you don’t need a card
reader as there is a slot on the back of the computer where you can put the SD Card into
the computer and you can access your files that way. Because I didn’t use an iMac I had
to learn how to use the card reader. I found the card reader easy to use. The only difficult
thing was locating my footage as there were loads of untitled files so I didn’t know where
my footage was stored at first. Once I had found out where my footage was stored I went
back and renamed all the files so the footage would have been located a lot quicker when
I next needed it.
21. USB STICK
• I used a USB Stick to keep all my footage, planning, research and evaluation questions
on so I could continue working on my coursework when I was at home or on a different
computer to the one I was allocated.
22. PHONE
• I used my phone to organise filming sessions with my actors. This in my eyes was one of
the most important forms of hardware because without it I wouldn’t have been able to get
hold of my actors if there was a sudden change in plan.
• I also used my phone to check the weather, to make sure that I was filming on days that
could were dry so I didn’t get any of the loaned equipment wet.
• iPhones also have the blogger app. This allowed me to make changes to my work when I
was on the move.
23. COMPUTER
• I used the computer to make my music video, do all my planning, research and upload all
my work to blogger.
• I found having an allocated computer to be very stressful because I had planned to come
into college in the holidays to finish off my editing, however I could not do it because there
was someone on my computer.
• I felt that using a computer I was familiar with instead of an iMac that I struggled to use
was the best decision for me, as it meant I could get on with my work quicker instead of
having to repeatedly ask for help.
24. EARPHONES
• I used my earphones so I did not distract the other students in the editing suit whilst
creating my music video. Earphones also helped me to focus more on my work rather
than talking to my friends as I could block them out easier.
• Using earphones also meant that I could listen to the lyrics and then find the correct
footage I needed so that the imagery conformed to the lyrics.
