- 1. Question 4 - How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
- 2. Panasonic HD Camera • When it came to filming my music video I used a HC-V250 Panasonic Camcorder which was provided by the school. The size of the camera made it very easy to transport compared to some other models which take their toll by being extremely heavy. I was able to carry the camera for over two miles which without any pain or discomfort. Despite not being the most well equipped camera it managed to pick up a good picture even in shoots that took place during the night, this is because it came with a powerful torch which was easily switched on and off between shoots. The camera did not eat up charge and I only needed to charge it twice over three full day shoots, the memory was also impressive and despite over one hours footage I did not run out of space.
- 3. Blogger • Blogger was a big part of this coursework project. From the very beginning of the course I began to upload everything I was doing from thoughts and ideas, opinion on various music videos, my audience feedback, final cuts and evaluations. This made it easier to document everything I had done and I could look back on my blog to see what I needed to be doing and how my project was developing over the time. Blogger made it easy for my class to look online and view my final cut and the other work I had done towards it.
- 4. iMovie / iPiccy • After I had finished filming for my music video I transferred all the footage from the camera to my computer which had a preinstalled editing software called ‘iMovie’. This software was brilliant for editing and I was able to cut my footage and add effects to make it look professional and of high quality. • For my Digipak and Poster designs I used the online editing tool called ‘iPiccy’ this website was very simple to use and allowed me to add different fonts and stickers to label the pack while also keeping with a theme. Despite being free the website had a wide range of tools and effects which I took advantage of.
- 5. Slideshare / Scribd • In order to get word documentations and powerpoint presentations on my blog they needed to be compressed using the Slideshare and Scribd which created an HTML link which was implemented into my blog. This was very helpful as otherwise I would have been unable to use the tools which both word and powerpoint offer and would of had to write it up from scratch on the blog. This allowed me to go back and change anything with out making anything final on the blog. The embedded links can also take my teacher to the website to show any other work on my slideshare or scribd accounts.
- 6. Prezi • Prezi was used to present my ‘Treatment’ to the class. Treatment is a presentation software similar to PowerPoint, however this programe brings the presentations to life and make them more interactive and interesting. Prezi did not need to go through Slideshare in order to be on the blog, when finished it was embedded by a link already provided.
- 7. YouTube • YouTube is an extremely useful tool that was I used to upload my rough cut and final cut to the worldwide web. Using youtube meant it was easily accessible to anyone in the world and easy to find rather than a private clip which could be lost. • Throughout my coursework I constantly used YouTube as a way to research other projects and music videos that could help to inspire my own and also gave me the chance to look at previous A2 work which had attained a high grade.
