3. Blogger
• To consolidate and display all my research I used
Blogger. Blogger easily allows me to post clips and
pictures alongside text to display my analysis. Blogger
also allows me to monitor who sees my blog as well as
view comments which can help me improve. Blogger also
allows for more customisation for my piece.
• I also use Blogger in my AS work, I feel that the
presentation of my work on Blogger has improved since.
4. Short of the week
• Due to my project being the construction of a short film I
had to research short films. Therefor I used this website
to find short films that were suited to the genre and were
able to be analysed.
5. YouTube
• I used YouTube in all stages of my project, I used it to analyse
films/trailers, as well as to distribute my film, test footage and
drafts. I also used YouTube in my evaluation to show
similarities between my film and others.
• YouTube was beneficial because it allowed free and easy
access to videos as well as a platform to display my work. The
link with Blogger allowed me to display YouTube videos.
• I also used YouTube throughout my AS Project, however I
used it more in my A2 as well as published more creative clips
as my skill level increased.
6. SlideShare
• I used SlideShare to distribute Keynote presentations I
had made. SlideShare was beneficial due to it being free,
easy to use, easily accessible and the imbedded option
which allowed me to display my presentation on my Blog.
• I used SlideShare to distribute my research, technical
and evaluation Keynote presentations.
7. Pages
• I used Pages to help create
several important
documents for the
production, these being the
call sheet as well as shots
list and others. Pages was
easy to use and was
present on all devices I
used.
9. Adobe Premier Pro
• To edit my short film I used Adobe Premier Pro. This
software is a professional level software therefor allowed
me to make the best possible edit of my film that I could.
Premier Pro was beneficial because of the limited
rendering time. A dual display that allowed me to be
more concise when editing.
• During AS I also used Premier Pro however this year due
to length of the film and I was working on my own I had
to develop more skills. This year I didn’t use LiveType,
instead I used titles from Premier Pro. I also had to learn
how to manipulate sound more effectively.
10. Photoshop
• To create and edit my Poster for my film I used Photoshop;
Photoshop was the best software for this as it allowed for mass
image manipulation that I had in mind when I planned my poster.
Photoshop allowed me to cut out images and repair issues with a
current image. This allowed me to make my poster the best way I
could.
• I had not previously used Photoshop before, therefor I had to learn
as I went along, I used several online tutorials as well as some trial
and error.
• Photoshop was beneficial as it allowed me to distribute my poster
as a JPEG which was easily displayable on my blog, furthermore it
allowed me to revise and edit when I could.
11. Adobe InDesign
• I used Adobe InDesign to design my magazine spread and
review. This was the best software choice as it is used in
industry and to a professional level. I had previously
worked on this software therefor there was not as of a high
learning curve as there was with Photoshop.
• I used InDesign to create my page, I used box tools and
image layering as well as text boxes and borders. I learnt
new skills whilst using this software such as creating
effective borders and using margins and alignment to
make a more professional looking product.
12. iMovie
• Although iMovie was rarely used in the main product, I
used the software to make “Rough Edits” when I returned
from a day of shooting. I have been using iMovie for
several years and know how to easily use it. Therefor this
allowed me to quickly review the footage and figure out if
anymore needed to be added on the day.
• This hugely helped my filming process and made it more
efficient and effective overall.
13. iMac and MacBook Air
• These two devices were essential for making my product. The size
of the iMac as well as the processing power was perfect for editing
my main film, the ability to have multiple softwares open at once
without deteriorating performance was welcomed during my
production of both my film and ancillary products.
• The MacBook Air was useful too as due to it being lightweight I was
able to carry it around with me on days of filming and editing,
furthermore the compatibility of the two pieces of equipment meant
I experienced very little issue with both.
• I had no problems operating either as I personally own both of
these pieces of equipment, I had also used these during my AS
project, thus I had no problems throughout either production.
