1. Evaluation question 6
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
2. TECHNOLOGY
• I used many different pieces of technology within my product making, with varying
experience within each and some I've never used before.
The technology I used consisted of:
• Sony Cybershot DSC H200
• Adobe Photoshop
• Lighting
• YouTube
• Internet explorer
• Mobile phone
• PowerPoint
3. SONY CYBERSHOT DSC H200
• This camera was used to take my photos needed for my product which is essentially the
most vital part. It weighs 530g, which helps to provide a steadier hold when shooting
towards the telephoto end of the zoom. offering a 26x, 24-633mm zoom lens, 20.1
megapixel Super HAD CCD sensor, 720p HD video recording with stereo sound and
HDMI output, and 3D Sweep Panoramas. Other key features of the Sony H200 include a
3 inch LCD screen, ISO range of 80-6400, Optical Steady Shot with Active Mode which
cuts camera-shake while you’re shooting. To further help prevent blurred shots in such
circumstances and in low light, Sony has also provided optical ‘Steady Shot’ image
stabilization. With no proper experience, video tutorials were needed to build my
knowledge on the best shots an dhow to get the best out of the camera. I learnt how to
use the cameras wide range of ISO thus making pictures more fitting to use in production
4. ADOBE PHTOSHOP CS3
• THIS PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY WAS USED TO MAKE MY PRODUCTION. I
HAD VERY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF IT AS I HAD ONLY USED IT ONCE
BEFORE TO MAKE MY PREMILINARY TASK. Therefore I had to watch a
wide variety of tutorials to se how to edit my photos and with things regarding
text etc. This helped me improve my images through contrast, brightness and
spot healing giving me a better final image. Tutorials were also needed for
appropriate texts and editing background and layout to ensure It fuffilled the
requiremnts of my intentions for my product.
5. LIGHTING
• Lighting allowed me to take a wider variety of photos I wouldn’t
have got if I had used natural lighting, also giving me a range of
different quality pictures just with different lighting which made a
major difference. It took a sufficient amount of time changing the
placement of lights as each one gave different quality to the
photo with shadows and angles. However the image I eventually
used in my production didn’t really depend too much on the
lighting as I edited them enough to not need any shadows.
6. YOUTUBE
• I used YouTube heavily for tutorials for things I didn’t really have knowledge
of like the camera and Photoshop. YouTube gave me a lot of knowledge on
how to use the camera regarding the basics, the special features of the
camera and how to take the best photos with the camera. furthermore it also
gave me knowledge of Photoshop regarding the basics of a layout of a
magazine, how to edit photos and texting format. In turn this allowed me to
give me an extended knowledge which I used to produce a better final
product.
7. INTERNET EXPLORER
• One of the most vital components I used for my work as this was used to do
all my research, tutorials, uploading my work and lots of other things. Without
the use of this, production would of took a lot longer as all magazines I set as
a benchmark would only be available in hard copy and not digital format. It
also allowed quick access to post to my blog as well as being easier. This
allowed me to gather any feedback from my work thus meaning I could edit
anything if needed and quicker process than if it was just handwritten.
8. MOBILE PHONE
• A vital source of communication needed to keep in contact with focus groups via
Facebook messenger and I message. It was also used to watch tutorials via YouTube.
With my phone I had access to communication to my focus group so I could post things in
there while I was doing work on my production so allowed me to make any quick edits.
Moreover allowed me to have tutorials easily accessible, for example if I had diffculty or
wanted to take better photos I would just view them on my phone instead of going home
or trying to find access to a computer.
9. POWERPOINT
• This was used to evaluate my work as well as for my research of my target audiences etc.
