This document discusses targeting a male audience aged 15-30 for a horror film. Horror films typically contain graphic violence, language, and gory content, making younger audiences less suitable. The film would receive a 15 certificate to match other similar horror films. While mainly targeting males, some females and older audiences may also be interested due to elements of thriller. Research involving audience interviews found that families also enjoy watching together, and people have different preferences. The target audience was expanded to recognize varied interests in the horror genre.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Evaluation q4 - hibba sayeed
1.
2. The target audience for my
media product would be
males aged 15-30. This is
because horror films usually
contain strong bloody
violence, intense
supernatural threat, strong
language and gory
violence. If my target
audience was to be
younger, the film would not
look like a serious horror film
as it connotes to a less
mature audience. For
example, The Woman In
Black was given a
certificate of 12A as it had
less imagery of what is
usually expected in a horror
film therefore the target
audience would be 12-18.
3. My media product would be
certificate of 15 as certain films
such as Drag me to hell, The devil
inside and The wolfman are
certificated 15 and are in the horror
genre.
My audience could also have an
older audience as many adults like
to read novels and my film is ‘an
adaptation’ of a novel such as films
like Dracula which is certificated an
18 therefore it could draw in a
bigger and older audience.
Also my film has elements of thriller
which makes it a hybrid genre of a
supernatural horror and thriller
therefore there would be a wider
range of audience as it is a hybrid
genre so some people would like
the horror whereas some people
might like the thriller.
5. As part of our research and planning, we went out and interviewed members of the public asking their opinion on horror films.
We decided to interview a female as we thought we
could find out whether females are interested in horrors
and whether we would have a wider target audience.
From this we realised that our target audience is not just
males.
We then interviewed a male who we thought would be
our target audience but were proven wrong as he said
he didn’t like horror films and he talked about the
reasons. This made us realise that who we thought
would be our target audience (young people) might
not all like it.
We interviewed this man who was a tourist as we thought
we would see whether different cultures watch horror
rather than knowing the audience for British horrors. He
explained that he liked watching it with family and friends
as they get to spend time with each other. Before doing
this interview we expected only friends to watch it together
but found out that families watch horrors together too.
Whilst doing this interview, we also asked whether they
go cinema or watch at horror movies at home, they said
they’d prefer to watch it at home so there isn’t any
noise.
At the end of our research of audience, we found out that we could have a bigger target audience and a different variety of people
watching our film as not to judge what kind of people would watch horrors as many people have their own opinion on horrors
therefore we knew that many different people would be into the horror genre.
6. This is a typical horror movie which
is also an example of the hybrid
genres. This film has got positive
feedback from the public
audience.
The percentage of votes is highest
on 8/10 which shows the film has
had achieved its target audience.
The chart shows that the target
audience for this film is mainly
males under 18. This shows that
those from 15 – 18 have enjoyed
this film and this could be the most
common age range for the horror
genre. My target audience would
be similar to this as this also aims at
the same target audience.
7. The audience would be attracted to my media product because a
lot of teenage males like the horror genre and the elements within it.
This wouldn’t be as effective to females as they would usually prefer
films that are in romantic comedy genre as they like to see
representations of themselves.
My media product immediately establishes the characteristics of a
typical horror film. I do this by opening with shots of satanic objects
that represent the theme of the film. The characters shown in the
opening are common conventions in a horror film. By using a priest
and the victim in the opening, it allows the audience to gain interest
in the narrative and be frightened leaving enigma codes which is
most important within this genre.
