4. WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR
YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?
Our primary audience that we were aiming for in our opening scene were teenage boys
between the ages of 15 and 19. In general, boys prefer action/ thriller films more than girls and
so that's why we aimed it at a male audience rather than a female one. However, there are
definitely some females who do like action films and so by using a female actor to play the
character of the sniper, we hoped to attract more females to this film as it reverses the
stereotype of the classic male fighter. This film is not only for teenagers. It is also aimed at
young male adults who have just entered the working world after leaving university. • From our
audience feedback (aimed at 16-18) year olds, its clear that they all enjoyed the opening to
the thriller and so this gives us a clearer understanding and also further knowledge that this is
the audience we are aiming at.
Boys aged 13-19 love cars and guns, so by incorporating both of these items into our thriller
with a story behind them is a real attraction for that audience. Furthermore, the car is a
mustang and boys typically love expensive cars so this will draw them into watching the film
as will the sniper which is a top class gun.
Due to the type of Thriller we have created , there is an element of violence closely linked with it.
After doing some research into film ratings on the British Board of Film Classification (bbfc) I would
grade out piece as a certificate 15.
“Can there be strong violence?
Yes, at 15 violence may be strong. It should not dwell on the
infliction of pain or injury, however, and the strongest gory images
are unlikely to be acceptable.
Strong sadistic violence is also unlikely to be acceptable.”
This fits perfectly into out piece, all though there is very little in our
opening it gives us potential to add some in the rest of the piece.
Similar to the popular movie, American Sniper starring Bradley
Cooper.

  • 2. Our primary audience that we were aiming for in our opening scene were teenage boys between the ages of 15 and 19. In general, boys prefer action/ thriller films more than girls and so that's why we aimed it at a male audience rather than a female one. However, there are definitely some females who do like action films and so by using a female actor to play the character of the sniper, we hoped to attract more females to this film as it reverses the stereotype of the classic male fighter. This film is not only for teenagers. It is also aimed at young male adults who have just entered the working world after leaving university. • From our audience feedback (aimed at 16-18) year olds, its clear that they all enjoyed the opening to the thriller and so this gives us a clearer understanding and also further knowledge that this is the audience we are aiming at.
  • 3. Boys aged 13-19 love cars and guns, so by incorporating both of these items into our thriller with a story behind them is a real attraction for that audience. Furthermore, the car is a mustang and boys typically love expensive cars so this will draw them into watching the film as will the sniper which is a top class gun.
  • 4. Due to the type of Thriller we have created , there is an element of violence closely linked with it. After doing some research into film ratings on the British Board of Film Classification (bbfc) I would grade out piece as a certificate 15. “Can there be strong violence? Yes, at 15 violence may be strong. It should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury, however, and the strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic violence is also unlikely to be acceptable.” This fits perfectly into out piece, all though there is very little in our opening it gives us potential to add some in the rest of the piece. Similar to the popular movie, American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper.
