- 1. 4. Who would be the audience for your media product? I think the best magazine to carry out reviews and advert for our movie would be ‘Total Film’ magazine. I think this because our film is aimed at both males and females aged 15-25 and this is also the target audience for Total Film. Therefore, they would be more likely to advertise and feature a film which also appeals to their audience, as well as ours. Another reason why I think Total Film would be the most likely to carry out a review is because they review all of the latest cinema releases. As our movie would be a big blockbuster, I would think that they would advertise it and review it well. Total Film also features a lot of action and thriller films and as our movie is a psychological thriller, I think that they would feature it and advertise it as they know that thriller films are a big hit with the younger population. Other thriller films (such as Taken and Inception) have also featured on the front cover of the magazine, which means that our film will definitely fit into the genre and style of the magazine as ours is also a thriller. As the magazine is so popular and diverse, it would also mean that our film would reach a wider audience. For example, Total Film aims its content towards both men and women, whereas magazines such as Empire aim more towards men. By reaching out to both genders, they are expanding their audience and therefore getting more readers to watch the films they feature and advertise. Review - From Oscar winning director Lois Baker comes a terrifying new thriller, The Investigation. Starring BAFTA nominee Charlie Baker, the film revolves around the investigation into the disappearance of a young boy in the woods near his home. The film follows the detectives investigating the case and the thrilling ride it takes them on as they struggle to piece together the events of the young boy’s abduction. Luke Alger puts in a stunning performance as the youngster who goes missing and it is likely that his role in the film will earn him a nomination at the Oscars later on this year. He plays the role with energy and vigour, while retaining a sense of childlike naivety and innocence that is so chilling to the audience. The film is full of tension and suspense, as you follow the police, the boy’s family and the shocked neighbourhood as they come to terms with the fact that there is a child abductor on the loose in their town. Although filmed on an extremely low budget, the production team and director have used this to their advantage, creating a tense and nerve shattering atmosphere when using a hand held camera to portray the antagonist’s point of view. The film is full of twists and turns so if you like psychological thrillers, this one is for you. All in all, this film is set to be a box office smash and I will be extremely surprised if I don’t see at least an Oscar coming from this. To see the tremendous acting and suspense ridden story line, go and see it as soon as possible. 5 stars
