My Target
Audience
My primary target audience is viewers
aged 15 and above of both genders,
predominantly teenage/young adults to
middle aged adults. The reasoning for this
is because our film is going to be aged
rating 15 as an age 18 includes 'very strong
material which is only suitable for adults'.
Although our film contains violence, death
and jeopardy, my production team and I do
not believe that the material we are
screening is strong enough to be classed as
an 18. We believe a 15 is much more
suitable as this can include violence which
is not as explicit which is suitable for our
film. Moreover, by classing our film as a 15
allows a much broader target audience in
which we can promote our film.
Our audience enjoys viewing films
with the genres: Thriller, Horror as
well as comedy. However, their
favourite is predominantly Thriller.
Their favourite films are Silence of
the Lambs, Gone Girl, The Invitation
and Seven. All of which are films
which grip its audience by providing
a sense of mystery, jeopardy and
tension. Majority also have elements
of violence which would also be
included in my film.
Our audience view these films in cinema mostly as they
enjoy being immersed in the action via viewing on a
wide screen with adobe sound which intensifies the
threatening yet thrilling soundtrack from within the
film. Our audience would most likely view it in Everyman
as this is an excellent quality cinema which allows
audiences to relax on the sofas and enjoy being served
food and drink whilst they watch their chosen film.
Moreover, our audience enjoy viewing these films in
cinema due to the atmosphere that is created by
viewing it with other Thriller loving people, the feeling
of fear is shared and heightened by the other people
viewing. However, my audience also like to view these
films on Netflix as it allows them to save money and
watch in an environment in which they are comfortable,
with their family or friends. Our audience as they are
predominantly younger generations 15+ would find
information about these films online mostly, from social
media platforms such as Instagram. However, as our film
also targets older generations, they may also find out
via Facebook or newspaper articles/Empire.
The brands my audience may prefer for
clothing may include, Topman, Topshop, New
Look, Primark, Nike, JD Sports, the reasoning
for this is because my audience are
predominantly teenagers to young adults,
they would purchase clothing brands like
mine as they are of similar ages.
I believe my audience may enjoy eating at
restaurants including Pizza Express, Nandos
and GBK as these are universal very popular
restaurants. However, they may also love to
enjoy a takeaway with their friends and
family or even solo, they may eat a pizza
from Dominoes or Papa Johns or a Chinese
from the Orient.
My Films USP
What makes my film stand out is the reoccurring
theme within my film, the idea of the number '3'
being consistently highlighted. Jack Masters
receives 3 letters, three days after receiving each
letter they are murdered. Jack Masters has 3 days
to prevent his own death after receiving the final
letter which contains his own name and photo.
What makes my film stand out is the idea that
Jack Masters is against time, time is not
something that can be altered, if you do not beat
the clock then that is something that cannot be
undone, this enhances the suspense, tension and
the element of our film that grips our audience-
making them want to view the film to find out
what happens to Jack Masters, does he beat the
clock? In addition, in reference to the reception
theory by Stuart Hall, Jack Masters is initially
seen as the victim, but his unreliable narrative
begins to make the audience question his
innocence.
The reason people should
view my film is because
Empire a very well-known
film magazine stated, '3
Days' was the 'Best Thriller'
since 'Don't look now'. This
was an incredible review
which my production team
and I are very pleased with.
