Question 3
What have you learned from your audience
feedback?
Recap of the target audience
• The target audience that we mainly chose for our film trailer would
be viewers – male and female - between the age of 16-30. The
reason for this is that some of the scenes may seem too scary or
gruesome for those below that age. However, if they are not scared
or don’t have any negative reaction to it they are welcome to watch
the trailer.
• The main target audience are those who are interested in watching
supernatural/horror movies and enjoy the thrills of being scared. It
typically would appeal more to people who obtain a morbid
fascination, are into escapism and fantasy, revenge and witchcraft.
The type of people that may stereotypically be into our genre would
be people with gothic, emo or dark characteristics.
• As well as this, it is a ‘high school’/ college based
supernatural horror movie so it would tend to
appeal/relate more to young people who are familiar
with ‘high school culture’ and the systems. As well as
this, people within our target audience.
• People that live in urban areas such as London are
also the target audience. Normally, supernatural/horror
movies are set in suburban America, however we have
subverted this convention and set it in an urban area
such as London so we would have more Londoners
watching. This will enable our audience to relate more
to our trailer.
Types of methods used…
• The types of methods that I used were qualitative
as well as quantitative. Such as questionnaires and
surveys asking for opinions and figures.
• For this section we only used primary data as I only
thought it was relevant to feature information about
my trailer as feedback was essential to hear what
the target group thought of my trailer.
Audience comments whilst
watching our trailer
“The hair and make
up looks so scary!”
- Chloe R.
“I really like the sharp change to the
fast pace montage, it made me jump”
- Chantelle A.
“The scream and the following shots at the
end accompanied by the change in music was
really effective – Yvonne G.
Questionnaire replies...
What is your gender?
Do you like watching supernatural
horror movies?
I asked 16 people what gender they were and 10
were female and 6 were male. I thought this
would be biased as I surveyed more females,
however, as we moved on we learnt that almost all
males enjoy the supernatural/horror genre.
As discussed before, I asked 16 people whether or
not they like the supernatural/horror genre. 12 out
of 16 people said they enjoy watching the genre
however 4 out of the 16 people said that they didn’t.
We also got feedback from ‘Camille F.’ who said ‘I
don’t usually enjoy supernatural horror movies but I
would definately go and watch this one’ which was
an amazing response for our trailer.

All of the people that I
surveyed rated our trailer
equally as ‘7’ and ‘8’ out
of 10.
The audience ratings have
proven to be quite
positive as it is near 10/10
and it shows that our
target audience would
generously rates our
trailer.
However this still means
that our trailer isn’t
perfect and could still be
improved.
Suggested
improvements…
“More scenes where you
show the other characters so
that they’re more involved!”
- Jordache N.
“You could have made the intertitles
a bit longer” – Cedric O.
Conclusion
• I found all of the feedback really effective and useful as it
helped me to outline how much my trailer related to my
target audience. As well as this how much it appealed to
them.
• If I had carried out my surveys and questionnaire
interviews on a wider scale, it would have given me a
more accurate information about my target groups
opinions and feedback to work with as I only collected a
small amount of data.
