This document discusses the target audience for a political thriller film. The primary target audience is identified as teenagers to 40-year-olds, especially 18-year-old males who are interested in politics, action/thriller films, and hanging out with friends. Research on similar films like Vantage Point and JFK support that males aged 18-29 and both genders over age 40 would enjoy the film. 2. Who is my filmed aimed at?
• Our film is aimed at an age group of teenagers to around 40 year old men and
women. Our film can appeal to wide range of people due to the massive age range
we are going for. This is because the film is about a political assassination which
perhaps younger children will not be interested in or understand. Also the fact that
somebody gets shot makes it have a hard hitting story line that younger viewers
are to vulnerable to see.

4. Our audience
• I would expect our audience to be a boy who is 18 years old, he is a student at a
sixth form who is going to uni in the next year
• Hobbies: His hobbies are hanging out with friends, football, cinema, travelling.
• Likes: He follows the news, action/thriller movies, he is interested in politics.
• Dislikes: romantic films or comedies, cars, reading novels
• Favorite music: rock, normal chart music.
This person would be our ideal target audience as they are young but not too young to
not understand the plot, they are interested in politics so understand how
controversial it can be and have a love action/thriller films so would be very interested
in ours because it contains a lot of action in order to create suspense for the thriller.

5. Research of our target audience
These are the viewer ratings for the film Vantage Point,
this is one the films that is similar to ours that inspired
our idea. This supports our target audience as the
highest views were either males under 18 which had an
average of 7.1 and males aged 18-29 which had an
average of 6.7. This supports our idea that his will be our
ideal target audience and they viewed vantage point the
most. Furthermore it shows that females over the age of
40 would also watch our film as they had an average of
6.8 when watching Vantage Point
These are the viewer ratings for the film JFK, it
shows a high rating for men and women over the
age of 45 which is our secondary target audience, it
shows an average of 7.7 for both, this is helpful for
us as JFK is fairly similar to our film so it shows our
secondary target audience would also enjoy our
film. Furthermore it also supports our primary target
audience which is males aged 18 and above where
the average shows 8.3

6. Secondary Target Audience
• Our secondary target audience would be both genders over the age of 40. This
because stereotypically women would not enjoy an action thriller about an
assassination. However I think that they would also enjoy our film because firstly
our story line is gripping after seeing the opening sequence you want to know who
is the assassinator after you see him running it increases tension and anyone
would want to know who killed this political figure. Also, I think that our secondary
target audience would enjoy our thriller because our head teacher is supposed to
play the eye catching figure that the ladies like, from our research when there is
someone like this in a film it attracts a female audience. Furthermore I think our
secondary audience would enjoy our film because there are school children
involved in it this could bring out a motherly insticnt. Our film would also appeal to
men as it has many of the elements that would attract a male target audience over
40 e.g it relates to real-life as it has elements of politics in it. Conspiracy theories
that include action sequences also appeal to the childish side of men who dream
of running around wanting to be James Bond.

7. Earlier Interviews:
• Our earlier interviews were with students at the age of 18, boys and girls
at our sixth form. They all enjoy thrillers but the girls enjoy more
psychological thrillers such as gone girl but the boys enjoy action thrillers
such as 2012. This tells us that our target audience is mainly aimed around
boys at the age of 18. These interviews were extremely useful as they gave
us a clear insight for our target audience. However both boys and girls
look for suspense which ours shows.

He is 18 and he is a student as you can see he studies politics
at sixth form so would be interested in our thriller. He is
interested in a wide range of music so suggests he is open
minded. He likes a lot of thrillers such as gone girl and
Vantage point. He lives in London so would also have easy
access to a cinema. By making a facebook profile it is easier
to see what our ideal audience would be like
