Evaluation of Pre-Production
Chelsea Yu
Managing People
Managing people during the pre-production are important where the crew and cast
are all ready and prepared for the actual film production and they are on time and
the creative process are ready where cost and budget is being estimated. For the
managing people I will be evaluating the:
• Logistics
• Finance
• Creative processes
Logistics
The logistic when managing people in pre-production are key to ready the call
sheet before shooting day where it is used in film to disseminate the information to
the cast and crew to guarantee that everyone is ready and prepared for the
schedule.
Being the director of the video “knock knock” that I have produced, I had to direct
and prepared the cast and crew that I needed for the film making and by
understanding the suitable time for everyone to enable the process will run
smoothly. As well as making sure that the cast know what they have to do or act
when it coming to the shooting. However, because I didn’t have much people
needed as a cast and crew, which was easier and more capable for me to manage
as the first time being a director.
During the managing task, I was able to do it smoothly as the cast I have used was
my family which I was able to discuss about the time management and shooting
management easily. In term of having to shoot at home where I was not needed to
book any location and can be free at anytime and made it easy for me to organise
in a efficiently and effective way.
Finance
The finance of pre-production are also planned in the budget section where all the cost for
cast and crew are already calculated, which this will only be affected if the people
management did not go as it was planned. The criteria that will affect will be: because of
the delay due to weather condition or transport condition or the pre-production are
unorganised where thing paper work or equipment/ location or studio booking are not
prepared or not having the correct thing which can affect the finance. Also, if the filming
went overtime it means that cast and crew will have to paid more due to working hours
has increased.
On the other hand, during my pre-production I have ensure that every paper work is
finished and equipment and location are ready before the day of shooting, which my cast
and crew were all on time and there was no weather or transport condition as most of the
filming were done inside weather was a much consideration. However, during the filming
day there was there was no overtime appeared which overall the finance and budget
wasn’t affected due to any condition.
Creative process
The creative process in managing people for the pre-production are the paperwork
or document that needed for cast and crew.
The documentation that was done for cast are:
Call sheet- the call sheet was done to let the actor that is contributing to be aware
of the time they needed to be ready for the shooting and the scene that they are
taking part.
Contribution release form- the actor have to signed this so that I will have
permission of them being shown in the film, however I have used a child actor
which I make sure the form was signed by their parent which have responsible for
anything happen during the shooting.
The documentation that was done for the crew are:
Call sheet, contribution release form and booking forms
All of those document were complete before I started my filming production, which
those document has allow me to plan and organise everything welly and so that
the recording have run smoothly.
Management of resources
Managing resources are the physical things that are needed for the filming
production which will be focusing on the equipment that are used in the
production. For the management of resources I will evaluating the:
• Logistics
• Finance
• Creative processes
Logistics
The logistics for the managing resources I have done is right before the filming
process start I have to book all the equipment that needed for the filming, including
camera, lighting kit or microphone.
However for the costume where there is scene might contain different costume to
enable the effect of the scene meant to have to develop I and deliver in that scene
where costume are important as it represent the character emotional. Which the
specific costumer have to be shown in the call sheet where it contain most of the
information and thing needed for the filming.
The costume that my main character has to wear was something casually at first to
create the image of a ordinary girl and playing with that doll… but than afterword
the visual of costume will turn from wearing simple colour like white and blue to
show the pure image to wearing black and red representing darkness and evil.
Finance
Finance for the managing resources can be affected by the double booking
equipment which is the make-up artist that can be needed for the cast, and if the
equipment that was booked was damage it will need to be considered to add to the
cost, where if the finance and budget planning is not followed or condition that will
needed plan to chance will lead to money losing.
Furthermore, in my pre-production I have included all the finance information
about the resources which only include the equipment which was done in detailed
and prepared for the filming and no condition happen that had affect the finance
or cost for my pre-production.
Creative processes
The creative process for the management the resources include different
paperwork and document that needed to be organised for the crew and cast and
the equipment, props and location.
Document needed for equipment, props and location are:
Booking form- the booking for is needed to book all the thing required to run the
filming progress which is to ensure everyone is prepared so the shooting will run
smoothly.
Document needed for crew and cast:
Script- the script is to help actor know the line which is what they are saying in the
specific shot and crew to know what needed.
Storyboard- the storyboard is done so that crew will know the camera shot and
easier for them to recognise what they are exactly shooting at and the angle or
movement it can be.
Booking form- allowing the crew to know what equipment needed to book as they
are the specialist for those thing.
Managing time
Managing time in the pre-production is important to consider as well as preventing
any delays in the actual production. For the managing time I will be evaluating the:
• Logistic
• Finance
• Creative processes
Logistics
To enable the filming process run smoothly and minimising the chance of any
condition might cause the time affected it is needed to have the pre-production
done and prepared before date where it include planning out for the cast and crew
about the date and time will be taking place.
The reason why planning should be done for the pre-production is because it will
sure to give a beneficial to the actual production where thing will be organised and
prepared in less time. In the time planning process it was needed to go to the
location needed for shooting before the real filming began as we have to be
analysing the risk assessment as well as seeing what equipment might needed for
the certain location due the lighting effect.
The time manage went very well in my filming production in term of having to film
at my house and not having to travel to other location and because the cast were
my family member which they all live in the house so it made it easy to manage the
time as well as making the film effectively.
Finance
The timing is always something to relate to the finance when it is coming down to
work, where the more filming and time it is used will be more costly. Where when
filming is done overtime it will mean that changing for the finance will be needed
as cast and crew will need to be paid if they had overtime work , ensuring that it
meet the UK legislation.
On the other hand, the time management that I have done in my pre-production
went well as there was no extra time needed for the shooting, which finance was
not affected. As well as there was no re-shoot taken place, as the shot that it was
recorded was all relevant and suitable in to be use in the video.
Creative processes
The paper work that was needed to manage the time for filming are:
Call sheet- the call sheet is needed for the cast and crew to know about the timing
schedule which will help the process run smoothly where it prevent delays or time
wasted.
Production schedule- the production schedule will help director and producer to
know what time is needed to be film the certain scene and know the duration that I
will take.
Location recce- location recce require director or producer to visit the location
before filming at the location where they will already have the understanding of
what needed to bring to the location and any risk assessment which will save time
during production day.
Risk assessment- risk assessment is done for location after visiting and it also
include any props or equipment that will be used an can be harmful to be assessed,
as injuries can cause delay for the process.
Booking form- the booking form is very important to be done before filming, as if
you were not to book the location or equipment, you might not be able to have
access to it, which will definitely delay the filming time and to getting everything
back to progress again. As the booking form will show evidence of you booking the
thing in the specific date needed and the duration, which there should not be
unexpected thing happen such someone else is using it.
Overall, I have produced all of those document in order to lead me to a success in
managing time which I think during my filming day, the time manage went well and
there was no late or overtime due to having it to film at my house which made the
whole film production much easier.
Ensuring progress is sustained
During the pre-production it is important that to keep checking the progress to see
wither thing are being prepared on time and in a correct format which will affect
the overall result of the production. in the ensuring progress is sustained I will be
evaluating the:
• Logistics
• Finance
• Creative processes
Logistics
In the of pre-production I had to all the aspects of paperwork and document check
during and at the end of the process to see if the management of everything
including, human resources, equipment resources and others are in the correct
format and it will contribute the success of the final production.
During the production I had to make sure that all cast and crew and equipment are
ready on time to prevent things that could cause delay and effect the production,
which I also needed to do some paperwork such as storyboard and script to run the
production in a effective way where everyone would already know what they need
to do.
After filming everyday I had to go back and look carefully through each footage to
identify if any re-shoot will needed , which there was no re-shoot needed in
advance of having to film extra and back-up idea shoot, has allow me to have a
wider choice when editing the film to the best standard as possible.
Finance
By following my pre-production of storyboard, script and production schedule it
allows the progress to be sustained which has given advantages to the finance. As
when things are already prepared and planned out, it will minimise the delays due
to unprepared that can cause money to paid more to the crew and cast.
However, the health and safety consideration will be contain in the risk assessment
where ensuring the control to prevent the risk are done during the progress and
injuries to cast or crew can also delay the time and result a finance increased.
Creative processes
As I mention in the side before where following the: production schedule, script
and storyboard are to ensure the progress is sustained. As following the things in
production that was done in pre-production will help prevent problems from
occurring and allow production to run efficiently and result in successful.
This shows that pre-production are important for a production to be success, as all
the physically thing and document and paperwork that you have done in pre-
production will give a big support and backup on the production progress.
Being professional
Being professional in my production I have ensure that during my pre-production
and production I have done it in the best format as I can and meeting the standard
and don everything properly and which was time consuming but the detailed and
work for pre-production has led me to a smooth progress in production time. I will
be evaluating the being professional in the:
• Logistics
• Finance
• Creative processes
Logistics
Being professional I have to make sure all my paperwork and document is being
produced in the correct way which include: idea generation, proposal, script,
storyboard, lighting plans, production schedule, location recce, risk assessment,
budget, call sheet, booking forms and contribution release forms.
In those document I will ensure that cast and crew are on time, location and
equipment are ready, risk assessment are done to prevent injuries and following
the UK legislation as well as storyboard and script to ensure thing run smoothly
during the production, which this shows the work being a professional will need
consider and do.
Finance
Being professional I have to ensure that I have made a careful and relevant budget
for the props, equipment, cast and crew and location, which when hiring any
specialist I have to take a deep look to chose the correct person to enable them to
give a well contribution to the production.
To be a professional, you have to ensure that you know about the UK minimum
paid wages and the recommended rates to ensure everything is done equally and
fairly. Which if you broke the rule of not paying employees equally, it can legal
action taken.
Creative processes
Being a professional you have to ensure all work is done in a highly effective way
and will contribute the successful for the final production, which those work
include in pre-production are:
• idea generation,
• proposal
• Script
• storyboard
• lighting plans
• production schedule
• location recce
• risk assessment
• budget, call sheet
• booking forms
• contribution release forms
Managing risk and crisis
Risk and crisis will need to manage to prevent mistake and problem from occurring,
which pre-production will ensure that and resulting in less error being made in the
production. for the managing risk and crisis in pre-production I will be evaluating
the:
• Logistics
• Finance
• Creative processes
Logistics
To prevent risk and crisis from happening can be hard as it can occurs at anytime
and any where as not everything can have a 100% sure of not happening, however,
we could prevent it by minimising to the lowest as possible and this is where risk
assessment is taken in the pre-production where I had to ensure location and
equipment that might be using have assessed and considered a control if risk has
happened and what control is need to be done before shooting to prevent it.
However, for the equipment I have made sure I had booked two batteries to
prevent from running out of battery and causing a delay to the filming. Which also
every time a scene is done I will quickly copied the footage to my computer prevent
from losing the data or being damage in the SD card, which could result in over
timing and affect the money to be paid for the crew and cast.
Finance
Consequences that might affect the finance due to the risk and crisis happening
are, if anyone from the cast or crew have injuries themselves during the filming it
will means that I have the full responsible to pay the cast or crew who was in the
injury. Moreover, it will be the same if equipment or props or location such as the
building or thing in studio are being damaged or lost, I will have the responsible to
pay it off as well.
Creative processes
The documentation that will need to be done for the risk and crisis during pre-
production are:
Risk assessment- the risk assessment are done to minimise the risk that might
cause by the location or equipment.
Contribution release form- the contribution release form is to ensure that those
crew or cast who might contain in the location or will need to use the equipment
that in the risk assessment, they are aware of it and they will know they have
responsible for thong that might happens to them.
Documentation
It is important to keep all the document that was produced in the pre-production
are up to date and do contain the correct information of everything. In the
documentation for pre-production I will be evaluating the:
• Logistics
• Finance
• Creative processes
Logistics
To avoid confusion during the production I will make sure all document and
paperwork is done correctly and if document need updating I will ensure I have
done it, such as if new possible risk appeared and changing location will lead to
change of risk assessment.
Document that are done in pre-production will not only ensure thing are booked
and cast and crew are on time, but also the crew would have already known and try
out the different camera angle and movement needed for the specific shot, which
will save a lot of time during the filming production.
Finance
if money and costs are not organised in the document for pre-production, it can
affect the finance and having to keep adding costs or taking away cost which can be
confusing and effect the running of production.
Each props and equipment that needed for certain scene or shot will need to be
stated out clearly and analysed the costs in details, to prevent loss in money and
making it better to keep the track of the production finance.
Creative processes
From developing the ideas to making a final decision of how production will run are
all contain research and documentation to make everything work out and result in
a success of production. The document that needed include:
• idea generation,
• proposal
• Script
• storyboard
• lighting plans
• production schedule
• location recce
• risk assessment
• budget, call sheet
• booking forms
• contribution release forms
Improvements
Nothing is perfect where this is always improvement on different things and section
no matter how well and success the production might be. In this improvement for
pre-production I will be evaluating how I can improve in different section of:
• Logistics
• Finance
• Creative processes
Logistics
When filming scene that require to be filmed at night, I was unable to use the
advantages of lighting kit that could have done to allow some specific scene to
create a better visual effect, instead adding effect when editing, which using
lighting could have made the scene more engage to the storyline which I would
take account of in my next production.
Finance
After finished filming everything, I had a relook on every shot, which I have realised
I have made an mistake in one of the shot I will be including in the video, which
there was a reflection of the person who was recording from the window. This
mean it will affect the money where over time can occurs due to reshooting, where
I did not done that, in this case the shot that contain the person refection It got rid
off it by the editing. To improve this I will make sure during the next production I
have to look carefully into each shot making sure every shot is done welly and so
that re-shoot will not needed and time for editing are not increased.
Creative processes
I have completed all of the paper work and document needed in the pre-
production, however the improvement for the risk assessment are sure needed,
where I should have done in more detail in as well as in the location recce where I
have stated the risk but I could have also write about the backup c for the control
that I already had which can result in the risk assessment into much better detailed
and making the crew and cast feel more conformable and increase the trustworthy
for the production time.

Evaluation of pre production

  • 2. Managing People Managing people during the pre-production are important where the crew and cast are all ready and prepared for the actual film production and they are on time and the creative process are ready where cost and budget is being estimated. For the managing people I will be evaluating the: • Logistics • Finance • Creative processes
  • 3. Logistics The logistic when managing people in pre-production are key to ready the call sheet before shooting day where it is used in film to disseminate the information to the cast and crew to guarantee that everyone is ready and prepared for the schedule. Being the director of the video “knock knock” that I have produced, I had to direct and prepared the cast and crew that I needed for the film making and by understanding the suitable time for everyone to enable the process will run smoothly. As well as making sure that the cast know what they have to do or act when it coming to the shooting. However, because I didn’t have much people needed as a cast and crew, which was easier and more capable for me to manage as the first time being a director. During the managing task, I was able to do it smoothly as the cast I have used was my family which I was able to discuss about the time management and shooting management easily. In term of having to shoot at home where I was not needed to book any location and can be free at anytime and made it easy for me to organise in a efficiently and effective way.
  • 4. Finance The finance of pre-production are also planned in the budget section where all the cost for cast and crew are already calculated, which this will only be affected if the people management did not go as it was planned. The criteria that will affect will be: because of the delay due to weather condition or transport condition or the pre-production are unorganised where thing paper work or equipment/ location or studio booking are not prepared or not having the correct thing which can affect the finance. Also, if the filming went overtime it means that cast and crew will have to paid more due to working hours has increased. On the other hand, during my pre-production I have ensure that every paper work is finished and equipment and location are ready before the day of shooting, which my cast and crew were all on time and there was no weather or transport condition as most of the filming were done inside weather was a much consideration. However, during the filming day there was there was no overtime appeared which overall the finance and budget wasn’t affected due to any condition.
  • 5. Creative process The creative process in managing people for the pre-production are the paperwork or document that needed for cast and crew. The documentation that was done for cast are: Call sheet- the call sheet was done to let the actor that is contributing to be aware of the time they needed to be ready for the shooting and the scene that they are taking part. Contribution release form- the actor have to signed this so that I will have permission of them being shown in the film, however I have used a child actor which I make sure the form was signed by their parent which have responsible for anything happen during the shooting. The documentation that was done for the crew are: Call sheet, contribution release form and booking forms All of those document were complete before I started my filming production, which those document has allow me to plan and organise everything welly and so that the recording have run smoothly.
  • 6. Management of resources Managing resources are the physical things that are needed for the filming production which will be focusing on the equipment that are used in the production. For the management of resources I will evaluating the: • Logistics • Finance • Creative processes
  • 7. Logistics The logistics for the managing resources I have done is right before the filming process start I have to book all the equipment that needed for the filming, including camera, lighting kit or microphone. However for the costume where there is scene might contain different costume to enable the effect of the scene meant to have to develop I and deliver in that scene where costume are important as it represent the character emotional. Which the specific costumer have to be shown in the call sheet where it contain most of the information and thing needed for the filming. The costume that my main character has to wear was something casually at first to create the image of a ordinary girl and playing with that doll… but than afterword the visual of costume will turn from wearing simple colour like white and blue to show the pure image to wearing black and red representing darkness and evil.
  • 8. Finance Finance for the managing resources can be affected by the double booking equipment which is the make-up artist that can be needed for the cast, and if the equipment that was booked was damage it will need to be considered to add to the cost, where if the finance and budget planning is not followed or condition that will needed plan to chance will lead to money losing. Furthermore, in my pre-production I have included all the finance information about the resources which only include the equipment which was done in detailed and prepared for the filming and no condition happen that had affect the finance or cost for my pre-production.
  • 9. Creative processes The creative process for the management the resources include different paperwork and document that needed to be organised for the crew and cast and the equipment, props and location. Document needed for equipment, props and location are: Booking form- the booking for is needed to book all the thing required to run the filming progress which is to ensure everyone is prepared so the shooting will run smoothly. Document needed for crew and cast: Script- the script is to help actor know the line which is what they are saying in the specific shot and crew to know what needed. Storyboard- the storyboard is done so that crew will know the camera shot and easier for them to recognise what they are exactly shooting at and the angle or movement it can be. Booking form- allowing the crew to know what equipment needed to book as they are the specialist for those thing.
  • 10. Managing time Managing time in the pre-production is important to consider as well as preventing any delays in the actual production. For the managing time I will be evaluating the: • Logistic • Finance • Creative processes
  • 11. Logistics To enable the filming process run smoothly and minimising the chance of any condition might cause the time affected it is needed to have the pre-production done and prepared before date where it include planning out for the cast and crew about the date and time will be taking place. The reason why planning should be done for the pre-production is because it will sure to give a beneficial to the actual production where thing will be organised and prepared in less time. In the time planning process it was needed to go to the location needed for shooting before the real filming began as we have to be analysing the risk assessment as well as seeing what equipment might needed for the certain location due the lighting effect. The time manage went very well in my filming production in term of having to film at my house and not having to travel to other location and because the cast were my family member which they all live in the house so it made it easy to manage the time as well as making the film effectively.
  • 12. Finance The timing is always something to relate to the finance when it is coming down to work, where the more filming and time it is used will be more costly. Where when filming is done overtime it will mean that changing for the finance will be needed as cast and crew will need to be paid if they had overtime work , ensuring that it meet the UK legislation. On the other hand, the time management that I have done in my pre-production went well as there was no extra time needed for the shooting, which finance was not affected. As well as there was no re-shoot taken place, as the shot that it was recorded was all relevant and suitable in to be use in the video.
  • 13. Creative processes The paper work that was needed to manage the time for filming are: Call sheet- the call sheet is needed for the cast and crew to know about the timing schedule which will help the process run smoothly where it prevent delays or time wasted. Production schedule- the production schedule will help director and producer to know what time is needed to be film the certain scene and know the duration that I will take. Location recce- location recce require director or producer to visit the location before filming at the location where they will already have the understanding of what needed to bring to the location and any risk assessment which will save time during production day. Risk assessment- risk assessment is done for location after visiting and it also include any props or equipment that will be used an can be harmful to be assessed, as injuries can cause delay for the process.
  • 14. Booking form- the booking form is very important to be done before filming, as if you were not to book the location or equipment, you might not be able to have access to it, which will definitely delay the filming time and to getting everything back to progress again. As the booking form will show evidence of you booking the thing in the specific date needed and the duration, which there should not be unexpected thing happen such someone else is using it. Overall, I have produced all of those document in order to lead me to a success in managing time which I think during my filming day, the time manage went well and there was no late or overtime due to having it to film at my house which made the whole film production much easier.
  • 15. Ensuring progress is sustained During the pre-production it is important that to keep checking the progress to see wither thing are being prepared on time and in a correct format which will affect the overall result of the production. in the ensuring progress is sustained I will be evaluating the: • Logistics • Finance • Creative processes
  • 16. Logistics In the of pre-production I had to all the aspects of paperwork and document check during and at the end of the process to see if the management of everything including, human resources, equipment resources and others are in the correct format and it will contribute the success of the final production. During the production I had to make sure that all cast and crew and equipment are ready on time to prevent things that could cause delay and effect the production, which I also needed to do some paperwork such as storyboard and script to run the production in a effective way where everyone would already know what they need to do. After filming everyday I had to go back and look carefully through each footage to identify if any re-shoot will needed , which there was no re-shoot needed in advance of having to film extra and back-up idea shoot, has allow me to have a wider choice when editing the film to the best standard as possible.
  • 17. Finance By following my pre-production of storyboard, script and production schedule it allows the progress to be sustained which has given advantages to the finance. As when things are already prepared and planned out, it will minimise the delays due to unprepared that can cause money to paid more to the crew and cast. However, the health and safety consideration will be contain in the risk assessment where ensuring the control to prevent the risk are done during the progress and injuries to cast or crew can also delay the time and result a finance increased.
  • 18. Creative processes As I mention in the side before where following the: production schedule, script and storyboard are to ensure the progress is sustained. As following the things in production that was done in pre-production will help prevent problems from occurring and allow production to run efficiently and result in successful. This shows that pre-production are important for a production to be success, as all the physically thing and document and paperwork that you have done in pre- production will give a big support and backup on the production progress.
  • 19. Being professional Being professional in my production I have ensure that during my pre-production and production I have done it in the best format as I can and meeting the standard and don everything properly and which was time consuming but the detailed and work for pre-production has led me to a smooth progress in production time. I will be evaluating the being professional in the: • Logistics • Finance • Creative processes
  • 20. Logistics Being professional I have to make sure all my paperwork and document is being produced in the correct way which include: idea generation, proposal, script, storyboard, lighting plans, production schedule, location recce, risk assessment, budget, call sheet, booking forms and contribution release forms. In those document I will ensure that cast and crew are on time, location and equipment are ready, risk assessment are done to prevent injuries and following the UK legislation as well as storyboard and script to ensure thing run smoothly during the production, which this shows the work being a professional will need consider and do.
  • 21. Finance Being professional I have to ensure that I have made a careful and relevant budget for the props, equipment, cast and crew and location, which when hiring any specialist I have to take a deep look to chose the correct person to enable them to give a well contribution to the production. To be a professional, you have to ensure that you know about the UK minimum paid wages and the recommended rates to ensure everything is done equally and fairly. Which if you broke the rule of not paying employees equally, it can legal action taken.
  • 22. Creative processes Being a professional you have to ensure all work is done in a highly effective way and will contribute the successful for the final production, which those work include in pre-production are: • idea generation, • proposal • Script • storyboard • lighting plans • production schedule • location recce • risk assessment • budget, call sheet • booking forms • contribution release forms
  • 23. Managing risk and crisis Risk and crisis will need to manage to prevent mistake and problem from occurring, which pre-production will ensure that and resulting in less error being made in the production. for the managing risk and crisis in pre-production I will be evaluating the: • Logistics • Finance • Creative processes
  • 24. Logistics To prevent risk and crisis from happening can be hard as it can occurs at anytime and any where as not everything can have a 100% sure of not happening, however, we could prevent it by minimising to the lowest as possible and this is where risk assessment is taken in the pre-production where I had to ensure location and equipment that might be using have assessed and considered a control if risk has happened and what control is need to be done before shooting to prevent it. However, for the equipment I have made sure I had booked two batteries to prevent from running out of battery and causing a delay to the filming. Which also every time a scene is done I will quickly copied the footage to my computer prevent from losing the data or being damage in the SD card, which could result in over timing and affect the money to be paid for the crew and cast.
  • 25. Finance Consequences that might affect the finance due to the risk and crisis happening are, if anyone from the cast or crew have injuries themselves during the filming it will means that I have the full responsible to pay the cast or crew who was in the injury. Moreover, it will be the same if equipment or props or location such as the building or thing in studio are being damaged or lost, I will have the responsible to pay it off as well.
  • 26. Creative processes The documentation that will need to be done for the risk and crisis during pre- production are: Risk assessment- the risk assessment are done to minimise the risk that might cause by the location or equipment. Contribution release form- the contribution release form is to ensure that those crew or cast who might contain in the location or will need to use the equipment that in the risk assessment, they are aware of it and they will know they have responsible for thong that might happens to them.
  • 27. Documentation It is important to keep all the document that was produced in the pre-production are up to date and do contain the correct information of everything. In the documentation for pre-production I will be evaluating the: • Logistics • Finance • Creative processes
  • 28. Logistics To avoid confusion during the production I will make sure all document and paperwork is done correctly and if document need updating I will ensure I have done it, such as if new possible risk appeared and changing location will lead to change of risk assessment. Document that are done in pre-production will not only ensure thing are booked and cast and crew are on time, but also the crew would have already known and try out the different camera angle and movement needed for the specific shot, which will save a lot of time during the filming production.
  • 29. Finance if money and costs are not organised in the document for pre-production, it can affect the finance and having to keep adding costs or taking away cost which can be confusing and effect the running of production. Each props and equipment that needed for certain scene or shot will need to be stated out clearly and analysed the costs in details, to prevent loss in money and making it better to keep the track of the production finance.
  • 30. Creative processes From developing the ideas to making a final decision of how production will run are all contain research and documentation to make everything work out and result in a success of production. The document that needed include: • idea generation, • proposal • Script • storyboard • lighting plans • production schedule • location recce • risk assessment • budget, call sheet • booking forms • contribution release forms
  • 31. Improvements Nothing is perfect where this is always improvement on different things and section no matter how well and success the production might be. In this improvement for pre-production I will be evaluating how I can improve in different section of: • Logistics • Finance • Creative processes
  • 32. Logistics When filming scene that require to be filmed at night, I was unable to use the advantages of lighting kit that could have done to allow some specific scene to create a better visual effect, instead adding effect when editing, which using lighting could have made the scene more engage to the storyline which I would take account of in my next production.
  • 33. Finance After finished filming everything, I had a relook on every shot, which I have realised I have made an mistake in one of the shot I will be including in the video, which there was a reflection of the person who was recording from the window. This mean it will affect the money where over time can occurs due to reshooting, where I did not done that, in this case the shot that contain the person refection It got rid off it by the editing. To improve this I will make sure during the next production I have to look carefully into each shot making sure every shot is done welly and so that re-shoot will not needed and time for editing are not increased.
  • 34. Creative processes I have completed all of the paper work and document needed in the pre- production, however the improvement for the risk assessment are sure needed, where I should have done in more detail in as well as in the location recce where I have stated the risk but I could have also write about the backup c for the control that I already had which can result in the risk assessment into much better detailed and making the crew and cast feel more conformable and increase the trustworthy for the production time.
