This study evaluates heavy metal pollution in sediment samples from selected dams in Katsina State, Nigeria, focusing on the concentrations of Cr, Cd, Fe, Ni, Mn, Pb, and Zn. The results indicate that the highest concentration is found for Fe, while Ni was below detection levels; overall, the samples showed low contamination with Cd being moderately contaminated and others exhibiting low levels. The study concludes that the sediment samples generally remain unpolluted with low ecological risk based on various contamination indices.
