Essays On Beauty
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essays On Beauty" is akin to navigating a labyrinth of
perspectives, interpretations, and subjective notions. Beauty, being a multifaceted concept,
eludes a singular definition, making the task inherently complex. The challenge lies not only in
articulating one's own understanding of beauty but also in reconciling diverse viewpoints that
span cultures, epochs, and disciplines.
To encapsulate the essence of beauty demands a delicate balance of introspection and scholarly
inquiry. One must delve into philosophical treatises, artistic expressions, sociocultural analyses,
and scientific explorations to grasp the breadth and depth of this elusive phenomenon. Yet,
amidst this intellectual pursuit, the realization dawns that beauty transcends mere aesthetics; it
intertwines with morality, psychology, and existential inquiry, adding layers of intricacy to the
essay's composition.
Moreover, the very act of articulating beauty is an exercise in vulnerability. It requires baring
one's perceptions, biases, and vulnerabilities to scrutiny, inviting introspection and dialogue. This
vulnerability, coupled with the inherent subjectivity of beauty, renders the task of essay writing
an endeavor fraught with uncertainty and self-doubt.
Yet, therein lies the allure of grappling with such a topic. For in wrestling with the complexities
of beauty, one embarks on a journey of self-discovery, transcending the confines of academic
discourse to confront existential questions of meaning and significance.
In conclusion, while the endeavor of crafting an essay on "Essays On Beauty" is undeniably
arduous, it is also profoundly rewarding. It beckons the writer to embark on a voyage of
intellectual and existential exploration, navigating the labyrinthine depths of human perception
and experience.

How Did Mozart Get His Rule
Mozart defied the rules, and destroyed expectations. He wrote what was never
thought to exist. He turned tradition into innovation, and he destroyed all class
barriers. Mozart rewrote history. Enlightenment. It is defined as an intellectual
movement a celebration of individuality. Mozart was the enlightenment. He strayed
from tradition and wrote musicbased on his own thoughts, not other composers . He
wrote operas about banned content, instead of the classic love story. He embraced
his musical gift, despite what his family said about financial issues. He celebrated
himself as an extraordinary composer, and thought no less of anyone else.
Throughout his career, Mozart continued to build on the traditional music written
before him. He improved on existing music, including some of Salieri s... Show more

Mozart himself was never a wealthy man. He often ran out of money, which was
one of the main reasons his wife left him, and he could never provide for his family
or take care of himself. Having this background, Mozart knew that many lower class
residents were unable to understand Italian operas, so he asked for permission to
write an opera in German, so everyone in the audience could appreciate his opera.
Instead of writing in Italian, a language only the educated would understand,
Mozart disregarded class standards and devised a show, The Abduction from the
Seraglio, that everyone could comprehend. He wanted everyone of all classes to
have an equal opportunity to recognize his work. Mozart s forward thinking, and
defiance of standards was what defined him as an enlightenment thinker. He created
operas contrasting from all other ideas, and pursued his own concepts instead of
adapting to the common ideas of the time. Mozart was unlike all composers, in the
sense that he cared for everyone who came to appreciate his work, no matter their

Do you know what the worst part of this situation is? There s no such thing as a pit

Chick Fil A Swot Analysis

objectives that the company could strive for to achieve this goal could be to:
Retain a commitment to using fresh chicken and ingredients
Provide a family friendly atmosphere
Hire employees that respect customers and value the mission statement

maybe it would be too difficult to find employees outside of the US who support

beneficial to make an attempt at expanding outside the United States. They also
have a fraction of the locations that their competitors possess. McDonald s

Du Fu Rebellion
Du Fu, or known as Tu Fu, was considered by many as one of China s greatest
traditional poet of the Tang dynasty and was also known as the Sage of Poetry. He
was a deep reflective person and has been described as the artistic counterpart of
Confucius. (CP 106/565) He was also a keen observer of detail and for that, despite
writing in variety of styles, his most characteristic work is innovative in language
and subject matter and is also densely packed with meaning. (CP 110/766) He was
known to record significant political and social events he experienced in his life
such as the An Lu shan rebellion. As a person who was deeply imbued with the

Participant Observation Research Paper
Observation paper
The most naturally challenge and quality data collection and exploration method is
observation, Participant observation is in some ways both the most natural and the
most challenging of qualitative data collection methods participant observation is
used across the social sciences, as well as in various forms of commercial, public
policy, and nonprofit research.. Such discovery is natural in that all of us have done
this repeatedly throughout our lives, learning what it means to be members of our
own families, our ethnic and national cultures, our work groups, and our personal
circles and associations. The challenge of observation is taking notes, recording
voices, sounds, and images; and asking questions that are designed to uncover the
meaning behind the behaviors. Sociologists also conducted participant observation
studies and discussed the use of the technique early on, including Beatrice Webb
(1926) in the 1880s and the Chicago school of urban sociologists in the 1920s (Park,

The Screwtape Letters By Byc.s Lewis

Professor Cootsona
RELS 180
10/15/15
Midterm Paper I chose to do my research and reading on The Screwtape Letters
written by C.S Lewis, which is a novel written in unique perspective of a Senior
Devil named Screwtape who writes thirty one letters to his nephew Wormwood who
can be considered somewhat of a novice devil or demon of some sort. In these letters,
as readers, we find that they are undated and that they are meant to offer advice to his
younger demon nephew as he attempts to steal the soul of a human, referred to as the
patient . We are first introduced to the concept of the patient rather than the human
when Screwtape explains to Wormwoodabout one of his first experiences with one.
In his first letter, Screwtape explains that the best way to lose the human is if the
human somehow decides to use reason because at that point, his reason will take him
to God. He does this by teaching his nephew that, Your business is to fix his attention
on the stream. Teach him to call it real life and don t let him ask what he means by
real (2). Ironically, the devil s resort to calling God, the Enemy . We are first
introduced to this idea in the introduction on the first letter when Screwtape states
that The trouble about argument is that it moves the whole struggle on to the Enemy
s ground (2). Wormwood must find his opportunities by getting his patient to make
unwise choices or let his emotions get the best of him. When the patient turns to
Transition Into Adulthood
I was standing on the side, waiting for my turn; half heartedly watching the person
before me, admittedly too engrossed in myself. My hands were shaking so hard I
thought they might fall off. Sweat was beginning to roll down my face. After what
felt like years, it was my turn to take the stage. As I walked out with my head held
high, I entered adulthood in the danceworld. This pivotal transition from childhood
to adulthood is the first solo performed at a competition. My first solo was almost
seven years ago, when I was about ten, and it was one of the most nerve wracking
experiences I ve ever had. It all began when my dance teacher asked me if it was
something I would be interested in, and of course I was. I was filled to the brim with
Leper In John Knowles A Separate Peace
Out of all the characters of A Separate Peace by John Knowles, I would be Elwin
Lepellier or who is more commonly known as Leper for several reasons. One
reason is that we re both artistic. For example, during Chapel, Leper was busy
sketching birds and trees, and thus, he didn t hear the announcement for wanted
volunteers to shovel the snow out of the railroads. Similarly, I enjoy sketching or
drawing in my free time or when I m bored. Another reason for why Leper and I are
similar is that we re peaceful. For instance, during a Blitzball game, Gene was
desperate to pass the ball to anybody, so the boys wouldn t maul him, in which he
soon spots Leper. Leper! I threw the ball past a few heads at him. Taken by surprise,
Leper looked up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, Leper and I are similar to how we handle pressure terribly. One example is
in the woods of Vermont, where Leper describes to Gene about his predicament in
the army, including his hallucinations, such as a man possibly coughing up his
stomach next to Leper at night, alongside his malnourishment and sleep
deprivation. Leper continues, recounting how one day, he supposedly saw the
Corporal transform into a woman. I was looking at him as close as I m looking at
you and his face turned into a woman s face and I started to yell for everybody, I
began to yell so that everyone would see it too, I didn t want to be the only one to
see a thing like that, I yelled louder and louder to make sure everyone within reach
of my voice would hear you can see there wasn t anything crazy in the way I was
thinking, can t you, I had a good reason for everything I did, didn t I but I couldn t
yell soon enough, or loud enough, and when somebody did finally come up to me,
it was this man with the cough who slept in the next cot, and he was holding a
broom because we had been sweeping out the barracks, but I saw right away that it
wasn t a broom, it was a man s leg which had been cut
The Writings Of Olaudah Equiano And Elizabeth Keckley
Autobiographical Similarities
The writings of Olaudah Equiano and Elizabeth Keckley are of the highest
admiration. As they spoke on their experiences with an intoxicating mixture of
vibrancy and precision, they allowed the reader to come along for the journey without
getting lost. Most commendable, is that the writers were able to leave subtle hints
that would foreshadow their fortunes meticulously in efforts to keep the readers
engaged. There is a vital point to highlight from the workings of both authors how
humble and vulnerable their writings maintained as they were written during the
peak of their success. Therefore, the common theme is how they foreshadow their
success without neglecting to pay homage to where they came from. ... Show more

In her first chapter appropriately named Where I was Born , Keckley mentions that
she was not only born a slave but refers to slavery in a unique way that offers a hint
of foreshadowing. She mentions I was but a child myself only four years old but
then I had been raised in a hardy school had been taught to rely upon myself, and to
prepare myself to render assistance to others (Gates Jr. Smith, 311). What is so
profound about that statement is that hardy school was a double entendre used to
refer to slavery. Hence, the idea that slavery taught her independence which she
carried with her throughout her life. As it pertains to her writing, slavery also
equipped her with the poise she presented both in her demeanor and in her work as
a renowned seamstress. Another detail that Equiano incorporated within his
writing, is the meaning of his name. As he says in the text I was named Olaudah,
which, in our language, signifies vicissitude or fortune also, one favoured, and
having a loud voice and well spoken (Gates Jr. Smith 121). Equiano was a man who
was the youngest born son to village leaders who owned slaves, became a captive
of slavery himself, briefly worked in the fields as a slave before following his
master overseas and ultimately buying his own freedom. What s most profound
throughout that, is the fact that he used his voice to help others who are stuck where
he was able to break free. PBS has an article where
Should Technology Replace Gross Motor Play
Technology Should Not Replace Gross Motor Play Introduction During the first
years of a child, Gross motor skills are fundamental to their development. These
years are identified by many as the Preschool Years. During that time is when we
begin to expose children to a variety of techniques and activities that increase their
gross motor skills in both indoor and outdoor settings, because they are essential for
this age group. Of course we now that these stages are general and all children
develop on their own timeline, but the exposure to such activities is essential in
children s development. Therefore we allow our children or students to manipulate

hand eye coordination, and manipulation of their arms, risks, hands and fingers, legs,
and feet. Not to mention the importance that Physical development has in all the
other areas of development. Physical Development addresses any change in the body,
including how children grow, how they move, and how they perceive their
environment. But it also connects to cognitive development pertains to the mental
processes (e.g., language, memory, problem solving) that children use to acquire and

He who controls the air, wins the battles, written by Jim Rearden, an enlisted Navy

Japanese conducted a strike against the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor. This attack
by 353 Japanese fighters, bombers, and torpedo planes, resulted in eight U.S.
battleships damaged and of those eight, four were sunk. A total of 2,403 Americans
were killed and another 1,178 were wounded, and the nation was in shock that the

The United States lost approximately 14,500 aircraft operationally in the Pacific,
but Japan lost 20,000 operationally (The War in the Pacific). The U.S. lost 400,000
lives, but the Japanese lost approximately three million which resulted in a
decrease in morale. While yet today people are still divided about whether the
attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were necessary. While some individuals state
the long term cost for the Japanese population does not justify the use of atomic
weapons, others state it would have been immoral to not end the war as quickly as
possible. On September 1945, the Japanese representatives went aboard the USS

maintain a grasp of their dignity (Hillenbrand, 183). However, returning home for
many of them was more of struggle because their identity had changed, remold itself
to allow the men to survive. The design of advanced bombers, fighters, and other

Playing Piano Benefits
Studying and playing piano does provide powerfully positive effects on the brain.
Anyone who learns and or plays piano can experience these benefits. The benefits
range from: improved hand eye coordination, better Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
scores (these results were on children), higher self esteem, reduced anxiety, lower
levels of stress, and less periods of depression. People who play pianoalso have a lot
of enthusiasm, dexterity, and reading tone. According to First Tutors and the article
titled The Neurological Benefits of Learning Music, these benefits and effects are
inarguable as they are supported by a multitude of studies. Of chief concern in
many studies are the effects that playing piano has on the brain and its development
this includes the outcomes of practicing or taking piano lessons. As a result of all
this inquiry and observation, it is clear that piano positively benefits everyone of all
ages. These benefits will be discussed in greater detail followed by a conclusion
summarizing the most important impacts that playing the piano has on a person s
brain.
While a person s intelligence quotient is not a measure of one s full intellectual
capabilities, consider for example that there are studies that have shown that playing
piano can increase the IQ average of a person by about seven points. This benefit is
cited in an article entitled The Neurological Benefits of Learning Music found on The
First Tutors website. Despite the fact that intelligence

They say the low level beam does deliver a slight dose of radiation to the body but
because the beam concentrates on the skin, one of the most radiation sensitive

While the dose would be safe if it were distributed through the volume of the entire

such as the X rays used in these scanners have the potential to induce chromosome

can significantly alter the waveform of the pacemaker pulse. Travelers are not
informed that they are in the line to get a full body scan until they actually see it in

It wasn t until 8 years later, in 1968, that Wal mart expanded to open their first
stores outside of the Arkansas borders in Missouri and Oklahoma. Currently, Wal

accounted for 20% of the companies sales. In 2005, Wal mart reported $312
billion in sales, more than 6,000 facilities world wide, of which approximately 3800
were in the United States alone, and currently employing about 2.1million associates

close. Currently serving 100 million weekly customers, is difficult fathom this many
people, but to put it in perspective this is equivalent to a third of the United States
total population. Also, of interest is the target demographic of the Wal mart

average, and analysts recently estimated that more than one fifth of them lack a bank

The Villain In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Dracula , written by Irish author Bram Stocker, is part of the Gothic fiction genre,
which explores the disintegration of scientific understanding, control and social order.
The villain in the book has supernatural powers which challenge science as one way
of understanding the world. Count Dracula is defeated by the heroes, joining modern
science with understanding of vampirelegends, which brings back order to society.
Dracula, the main villain, is a centuries old vampire who has enormous physical
strength, is capable of controlling nocturnal animals, has hypnotic abilities and can
also change his form into several different ones. He can also bite other people and
transform them into vampires. However, he also has weaknesses. Dracula is... Show

The evil in him is depicted in the way he goes for the most defenceless characters
as well as being able to communicate with animals, like wolves. On the other hand,
Dr. Abraham van Helsing and his friends are portrayed as good characters. Van
Helsing is the oldest and most educated in the group and becomes their leader.
Unlike the rest of the group, he has knowledge of vampire folk stories and the ways
to fight them.
The group s members are respectable and well educated members of society. Van
Helsing is a medical doctor; one of his friends is a lawyer, another one a professor
and the fourth one a judge. Together they represent all of society s civilized aspects
such as medicine, knowledge, and law and order. Although at the end of the book
Van Helsing and his associates kill the vampires, the act is not portrayed as murder,
but rather an emancipation of their souls. For example, when Lucy becomes a
vampire and they have to kill her, Van Helsing proposes that her fiancГ© drives the

How Many Patriots Were Loyalists
Loyalists vs. Patriots Believe it or not there were some colonists during the
American Revolution that supported British rule. Loyalists are what they were
called. They remained loyal to England and King George. However, there were also
two other groups along with the loyalists which include the patriots and the people
who were neutral. The few colonists that remained loyal to Great Britain, during the
American Revolution, were wrong in doing so, even though Britain had a nice, stable
government. If you were a loyalist you were hated by the patriots. The patriots were
people who wanted to gain independence from Britain. U.S.history.org states, Patriots
subjected loyalists to public humiliation and violence. Many loyalists found their
property vandalized, looted, and burned. This shows that the colonists who were
loyalists had a tough life during the American Revolution. So, it wasn t a smart

One of the things they did was tax the colonists on things they didn t get to vote on
in parliament. NC Pedia states, Parliament did not have the right to take their
money by imposing taxes. No taxation without representation became their rallying
cry. This means that colonists didn t want to get taxed for something they didn t
have a say in. They know that taxes are needed to help run the country but, they
didn t get to help decide what should be taxed. Great Britain also made some unfair
laws. For example, they decided to make it legal that a British soldier come and
sleep in your home and you would have to feed them. So, as you can tell, the British
did some pretty unfair and cruel things so, who would want to be a part of
Disadvantages Of Life Insurance

provides for the payment of an amount on the date of maturity or at specified dates at
periodic intervals or if unfortunate death occurs. Among other things, the contracts
also provide for the payment of premium periodically to the corporation by the

The maturity period may range from 5 years to 10 years in India. They may be
redeemed in installments. Redemption is done through a creation of sinking fund by
the company. A trustee Incharge of the fund buys the debentures either from the
market or owners. Creation of the sinking fund eliminates the risk of facing financial
difficulty at the time of redemption because redemption requires huge sum. Buy back
provisions help the company to redeem the debentures at a special price before the
maturity date. Usually the special price is higher than the par value of the debenture.
Indenture It is a trust deed between the company issuing debenture and the debenture
trustee who represents the debenture holders. The trustee takes the responsibility of
protecting the interest of the debenture holders and ensures that the company fulfills
the contractual obligations. Financial institutions, banks, insurance companies or
firm attorneies act s trustees to the investors. In the indenture the terms of the
agreement, description of debentures, rights if the debenture holders, rights of the
issuing company and the responsibilities of the company are specified clearly.
Debentures are classified on the basis of the security and convertibility
The Reflection Of Collaborative Health And Human
Services
Collaborative Health and Human Services has changed the way I see things in life.
My perspective changed instantly once I started my internship with Monterey
County Behavioral Health. I saw the importance and need of more bilingual social
workers in the Mental Health sector and social workers just in general. Kiser (2015)
mentions that Most graduates of human services programs report that their field
experiences were among the most important, valuable, and enjoyable part of their
professional preparation. I agree, I have grown professionally quite a bit since I
began my internship and I realized how important Mental Health is and how it can
affect everyone one way or another.
Being in the office and researching mental health, I noticed that clients are in need of
becoming educated about Mental Health because they are affected by the stigma
around it. I feel passionate about serving, advocating, and educating clients on the
importance of Mental Health. For long years, I was not sure what career path to
take, my internship and the 396s course has helped me figure out that I am really in
the correct major. Now throughout this reflection I will be discussing about social
justice, how my agency is addressing the issue, potential projects, analysis of my
time at the agency, and steps to prepare for next semester. My overall experience as
well, I love my site.
Social justice has never been a subject that I have been interested in because I never
really understood the concept.
Empirical Research For Treatment Of Intercultural
Marriage
Empirical Research for treatment of Intercultural Marriage
According to Hsu (2001), intercultural marriage is marriage formed by partners with
relatively diverse cultural backgrounds (p.225). This is prominently seen through the
film, in which Toula, a Grecian American marries Ian Miller, a Caucasian American.
This film depicts the conflict that surrounds this union prior to marriage, such as
planning the wedding, navigating the cultural differences and gaining parental
approval for the union. Although it is understandable that intercultural marriage
comes with far more difficulties than depicted.
Hsu (2001) discusses that intercultural marriage, as opposed to intramarriage, where
partners are from the same cultural background, often go to couple therapy because
the merger of the two individual s cultural beliefs and values is causing conflict.
However, because an individual s culture is embedded into their identity it is difficult
to address cultural differences in a relationship. Consequently, a majority of the
research available on treating intercultural marriage relates to the post modern belief
of social constructionism and narrative therapy.
According to Biever, Bobele and North (1998), understandings that are created about
client s situations and the culture arise out of a mutual, collaborate construction of
meaning (p. 184). Social constructionism provides a collaboration between the
therapist and the client that allows the client to assess different
The Pros And Cons Of Existentialism
Existentialism has always been criticized because it is viewed as only a pessimistic
approach. To those critics, existentialism is nothing more than not believing in a
higher power, but what it truly means is that man is nothing else but that which he
makes of himself, (Sartre, 3) which, in turn, makes it optimistic. By that definition,
there would be no humannature because that would imply that there is a
predetermined plan for humans. Sartre counters the claim of human nature by proving
that all actions are a choice made by the individual since before having an essence,
man only existed and then he had to create that essence. To start, existentialismis a
doctrine which affirms that every truth and every action imply both an environment
and a human subjectivity, (Sartre, 1). In other words, this means that whenever
someone makes an action, there was a set of surroundings, literally and figuratively,
as well as a human consciousness responsible for the action. For instance, in the
beginning, there was one man and no one else to impose their beliefs upon him.
Therefore, the man had to create his own understanding, his own essence, which
came after he was already existing. In addition, Subjectivity closely relates to
existentialism because it is the quality of existing in someone s mind rather than the
external world. Altogether, these terms intertwine to show how human nature, a set
of predetermined traits humans all possess, cannot exist because humans are
Mental Health Accommodations For Our Military Men
And...
Are mental health accommodations for our military men and women sufficient?
Soldiers are put through trying conditions when deployed. Many of the men and
women are sent to a foreign country away from their homes full of the people they
love the most, who are spending their time with a worry in the back of their mind
if they will get the chance to hold, touch, or see their loved ones ever again. Often,
the soldiers who do make it back home to their families tend to develop some
mental problems over their time away. Even though a majority of veterans has
visible problems, a widely held number of veterans are very good at hiding the
problems developed over the years. For the reason that, the number of soldiers with

Napoleon s Influence In Italy Research Paper
In north Italy, roots of struggles between city states still plagued their relationships.
Their failure to unite reduced this potential to compete with other European powers
and therefore became political satellites in a continent of powerful nations. The
abrupt switch from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic and Indian oceans for new
sources of trade sent the maritime economy of Italian cities into decline. Direct
access to the Atlantic became the primary source of wealth for european countries
like Spain and Portugal. Challenges to the Church s authority in earlier centuries
failed to bring down the papacy, and in the 16th century it stood strong in face of the
Protestant Reformation. It did however, loose much of its influence in Europe.
Consequently, the Pope was able to establish its own house and enlarged the Papal

The Game Of Golf Vs. Golf
As Rickie Fowler once wisely said, All you can do is really the prep work and make
sure you re ready to hit each golf shot. Outside of that, you re not sure really what s
going to happen. It s a funny game, but I think that s why I love it. You never
know, one day to the next; you could go shoot 62, and the next day you re going to
shoot 78, and you can t predict it. The game of golfis one of the most challenging
games offered today. It s interesting that so many amateur golfers, when they think
of improving their games, think of only one thing: improving their golf swing.
Certainly, it s great to develop a technically sound golf swing and to hit the ball
higher, longer, and straighter. However, the golfer who accomplishes this has
improved only part of what is needed in order to become a complete player. The
other half of the game is psychological; golf is one of many sports that requires
mental toughness. One way to achieve mental toughness is to have a rigorous
process leading up to your shot. There is a procedure that needs to be followed
before hitting every single shot on the course, especially when attempting to hit an
approach shot. Follow these six steps to properly be prepared to execute the best golf
swing possible.
1.Evaluate the lie of the ball
Walk up to the golf ball and observe the surface it is lying upon. Determine whether
the ball is lying on an uphill, downhill, or sidehill. Next, examine the surface the ball
is lying on. Conclude whether

The document that I chose to analyze was The Trade in Captives by John Barbot.

went on a voyage to West Africa at least twice. He is mostly writing about the slave
trade between the European and West Africans. This document is aimed to anyone
who wanted to know the background of the slave trade. Also, it seemed like he
might have written this to inform other Europeans on the protocol of trading and
how to trade in a fair manner. From my point of view, it seems that he is writing
about what the Europeans were giving West Africans in return for slaves. He is also

I think this author was quite subjective in his descriptions and also really biased in
some source. I m getting more information about the Europeans than the Africans. I
feel like the author felt that the Europeans were being cheated. With this
assumption, he is trying to inform others on how to avoid it. While his writing
may be based on his own experiences, the tone seems supercilious. His style of
writing is really vague. It does not really give the reader all that they could know.
This might be based on the time period in which this was written. In the beginning
of the document, they state that he describes better than other writers of this period.
I think this would better be achieved it was more detailed from both views. What I
see that he did was separate each paragraph based on the country he is describing.
This makes the writing to flow better. Lastly, this was published in A. and J.

The Relationship Between Antony And Cleopatra

Marc Antony and conclude whether this event really happened or if it is a myth.
Cleopatra and Marc Antony famously had an affair, resulting in children. They lived
and planned with one another, presenting themselves as a couple. They attempted to
conquer land with one another, establishing themselves and their children as the
rulers of multiple kingdoms. However, there are disputes over whether a legal

The Romans had laws against foreign marriages and Cleopatra was nearly the
epitome of everything non Roman. Antony and Octavian had a complicated
relationship, ending in Octavian defeating both him and Cleopatra. Antony knew
that marrying Cleopatra before 32 BC was dangerous, as his wife, Octavia, was
Octavian s sister. Having two wives was illegal, but also abandoning a member of
Octavian s family, would have broken the relationship much quicker. There is no
doubt about a relationship between Antony and Cleopatra; they had children
together and presented themselves alongside one another. The coinage of the two
can be seen as them presenting their marriage. On the other hand, it could simply
mean that they had a political relationship more than a romantic relationship. For
some, that would mean that they needed to marry each other. However, for the
power that each person held, a marriage would not have been so heavily enforced.
For people of the upper class, some rules dictated by society did not always apply to
them. Modern and ancient ideals about marriage does not translate to every situation
flawlessly. Ager s main point is that there is no hard evidence for a marriage or a
wedding, dubbing it a phantom

It is in these situations that modern methods of business forecasting can be especially
useful. Modern forecasting methods are usually grouped into two main categories:
qualitative methods, and quantitative methods. Qualitative analysis includes the
intuitive and knowledge based approach as discussed earlier. The decision maker
reviews all of the information available, and then makes an estimated forecast.
Quantitative techniques are used mostly when qualitative information is not
available. In contrast, qualitative techniques are based on an analysis of data
(Namvar, 2000, p.8).
Delphi Forecasting Method
Qualitative forecasting techniques are: executive committee, the Delphi method,
and surveys of the sales force, surveys of customers, historical analogy, and market
research. The objective of most Delphi applications is the reliable and creative
exploration of ideas or the production of suitable information for decision making.
The Delphi Method is based on a structured process for collecting and distilling
knowledge from a group of experts by means of a series of questionnaires interspersed
with controlled opinion feedback (chase, 2003, P471).
The Delphi method is a variation of the executive committee approach. But the
interaction is indirect, iterative and structured. The basic premise of Delphi method
is to identify a group of experts and each of them are given a set of questions or

Essay on Size Constancy
Visual Perception Lab: Size Constancy
Abstract
This investigation is designed to illustrate the ability of the visual system to
compensate for changes in retinal image size with viewing distance,i.e the
mechanism of size constancy. The accuracy of this mechanism will be evaluated
under a number of different viewing conditions and thereby investigating the various
cues for judging distance.
Background
Size constancy is the perception of an object as having a fixed size, regardless of
the change in size of the retinal image the visual angle which accompanies changes
in distances (i.e. as an objects moves into the distance, the retinal image decreases yet
the object size remains the same). It is thus possible to accurately ... Show more

Linear perspective may additionally be known as textural gradient (i.e. pebbles on a
beach seem smaller receding into the distance). It is not imperative to know the
actual size of the object to get an impression of depth, so long as the elements are, on
average, decreasing in size.

Interposition refers to the occlusion or obstruction of some part of an object by
another. Objects further away will be blocked by those closer to you. The Necker
cube (Figure 2)is an ambiguous figure, for though it is a cube, there is no
interposition present, consequently generating the visual system to spontaneously flip
between the two different orientations the cube can be positioned. By erasing certain
lines so as to introduce the concept of occlusion this ambiguity can be reduced.

Shaded elements of an object appear further back/deeper down than those exposed to
light, which appear closer to the surface, hence enabling shadows to assist in depth
perception. Moreover, the way in which elements are shaded allows for depth
perception. As the brain assumes light comes from above, elements which are lighter
above darker below appear to bulge out, whereas those that are darker above lighter
below appear to be indented. The brain additionally assumes we view things from an
upright position, thus by turning upside down we can alter the perception of depth
with regards to shadows. Furthermore, the position
Music Essay On Music And The Power Of Music
Song Essay The power of music is as strong today as it has ever been before.
Throughout history music has been a way for our people to speak out against the
government or follow their commands. There is a great irony that a lot of these
songs nowadays all tie together to portray the same message, and this is not a
coincidence. Today, hip hop has taken the lead in protesting police brutality and
the injustices suffered by the poor. Within the selection of songs, the audience can
see how the government tries to control us, as well as how there is still much
racism going on today. Joey s song, Temptations, explores the issue of racial
equality and the struggle of being black in America. Growing up in a poor
neighborhood not having your rent on time because your mom works a nine to
five job that s just enough to make a living as a result of how the government has
set up the average person to be, I really came up from the bottom / Strugglin , my
momma on her last dollar / Hustling man I ve been putting in these hours / The
government been trying to take away what s ours (line 18 21). In this song,
Badmon describes how young men are killing one another, and figure that is the
way to go about things because of culture but fail to really see what they are doing
as well as who they are hurting. He also mentions how people make an example out
of killing someone rather than spreading positivity and leaves you with the question
of are you willing to make the sacrifice, to make a

Beauty, being a multifaceted concept, eludes a singular definition, making the task inherently complex. The challenge lies not only in articulating one's own understanding of beauty but also in reconciling diverse viewpoints that span cultures, epochs, and disciplines. To encapsulate the essence of beauty demands a delicate balance of introspection and scholarly inquiry. One must delve into philosophical treatises, artistic expressions, sociocultural analyses, and scientific explorations to grasp the breadth and depth of this elusive phenomenon. Yet, amidst this intellectual pursuit, the realization dawns that beauty transcends mere aesthetics; it intertwines with morality, psychology, and existential inquiry, adding layers of intricacy to the essay's composition. Moreover, the very act of articulating beauty is an exercise in vulnerability. It requires baring one's perceptions, biases, and vulnerabilities to scrutiny, inviting introspection and dialogue. This vulnerability, coupled with the inherent subjectivity of beauty, renders the task of essay writing an endeavor fraught with uncertainty and self-doubt. Yet, therein lies the allure of grappling with such a topic. For in wrestling with the complexities of beauty, one embarks on a journey of self-discovery, transcending the confines of academic discourse to confront existential questions of meaning and significance. In conclusion, while the endeavor of crafting an essay on "Essays On Beauty" is undeniably arduous, it is also profoundly rewarding. It beckons the writer to embark on a voyage of intellectual and existential exploration, navigating the labyrinthine depths of human perception and experience. Instead of writing in Italian, a language only the educated would understand, Mozart disregarded class standards and devised a show, The Abduction from the Seraglio, that everyone could comprehend. He wanted everyone of all classes to have an equal opportunity to recognize his work. Mozart s forward thinking, and defiance of standards was what defined him as an enlightenment thinker. Participant Observation Research Paper Observation paper The most naturally challenge and quality data collection and exploration method is observation, Participant observation is in some ways both the most natural and the most challenging of qualitative data collection methods participant observation is used across the social sciences, as well as in various forms of commercial, public policy, and nonprofit research.. Such discovery is natural in that all of us have done this repeatedly throughout our lives, learning what it means to be members of our own families, our ethnic and national cultures, our work groups, and our personal circles and associations. The challenge of observation is taking notes, recording voices, sounds, and images; and asking questions that are designed to uncover the meaning behind the behaviors. The Screwtape Letters By Byc.s Lewis Kristen Isles Professor Cootsona RELS 180 10/15/15 Midterm Paper I chose to do my research and reading on The Screwtape Letters written by C.S Lewis, which is a novel written in unique perspective of a Senior Devil named Screwtape who writes thirty one letters to his nephew Wormwood who can be considered somewhat of a novice devil or demon of some sort. In these letters, as readers, we find that they are undated and that they are meant to offer advice to his younger demon nephew as he attempts to steal the soul of a human, referred to as the patient . We are first introduced to the concept of the patient rather than the human when Screwtape explains to Wormwoodabout one of his first experiences with one. In his first letter, Screwtape explains that the best way to lose the human is if the human somehow decides to use reason because at that point, his reason will take him to God. He does this by teaching his nephew that, Your business is to fix his attention on the stream. Teach him to call it real life and don t let him ask what he means by real (2). Ironically, the devil s resort to calling God, the Enemy . We are first introduced to this idea in the introduction on the first letter when Screwtape states that The trouble about argument is that it moves the whole struggle on to the Enemy s ground (2). Wormwood must find his opportunities by getting his patient to make unwise choices or let his emotions get the best of him. When the patient turns to

Similarly, I enjoy sketching or drawing in my free time or when I m bored. Another reason for why Leper and I are similar is that we re peaceful. Leper continues, recounting how one day, he supposedly saw the Corporal transform into a woman. I was looking at him as close as I m looking at you and his face turned into a woman s face and I started to yell for everybody, I began to yell so that everyone would see it too, I didn t want to be the only one to see a thing like that, I yelled louder and louder to make sure everyone within reach of my voice would hear you can see there wasn t anything crazy in the way I was thinking, can t you, I had a good reason for everything I did, didn t I but I couldn t yell soon enough, or loud enough, and when somebody did finally come up to me, it was this man with the cough who slept in the next cot, and he was holding a broom because we had been sweeping out the barracks, but I saw right away that it wasn t a broom, it was a man s leg which had been cut
  • 13. The Writings Of Olaudah Equiano And Elizabeth Keckley Autobiographical Similarities The writings of Olaudah Equiano and Elizabeth Keckley are of the highest admiration. As they spoke on their experiences with an intoxicating mixture of vibrancy and precision, they allowed the reader to come along for the journey without getting lost. Most commendable, is that the writers were able to leave subtle hints that would foreshadow their fortunes meticulously in efforts to keep the readers engaged. There is a vital point to highlight from the workings of both authors how humble and vulnerable their writings maintained as they were written during the peak of their success. Therefore, the common theme is how they foreshadow their success without neglecting to pay homage to where they came from. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In her first chapter appropriately named Where I was Born , Keckley mentions that she was not only born a slave but refers to slavery in a unique way that offers a hint of foreshadowing. She mentions I was but a child myself only four years old but then I had been raised in a hardy school had been taught to rely upon myself, and to prepare myself to render assistance to others (Gates Jr. Smith, 311). What is so profound about that statement is that hardy school was a double entendre used to refer to slavery. Hence, the idea that slavery taught her independence which she carried with her throughout her life. As it pertains to her writing, slavery also equipped her with the poise she presented both in her demeanor and in her work as a renowned seamstress. Another detail that Equiano incorporated within his writing, is the meaning of his name. As he says in the text I was named Olaudah, which, in our language, signifies vicissitude or fortune also, one favoured, and having a loud voice and well spoken (Gates Jr. Smith 121). Equiano was a man who was the youngest born son to village leaders who owned slaves, became a captive of slavery himself, briefly worked in the fields as a slave before following his master overseas and ultimately buying his own freedom. What s most profound throughout that, is the fact that he used his voice to help others who are stuck where he was able to break free. PBS has an article where

  • 25. How Many Patriots Were Loyalists Loyalists vs. Patriots Believe it or not there were some colonists during the American Revolution that supported British rule. Loyalists are what they were called. They remained loyal to England and King George. However, there were also two other groups along with the loyalists which include the patriots and the people who were neutral. The few colonists that remained loyal to Great Britain, during the American Revolution, were wrong in doing so, even though Britain had a nice, stable government. If you were a loyalist you were hated by the patriots. The patriots were people who wanted to gain independence from Britain. U.S.history.org states, Patriots subjected loyalists to public humiliation and violence. Many loyalists found their property vandalized, looted, and burned. This shows that the colonists who were loyalists had a tough life during the American Revolution. So, it wasn t a smart choice to become a loyalist during that time period.... They know that taxes are needed to help run the country but, they didn t get to help decide what should be taxed. Great Britain also made some unfair laws. My perspective changed instantly once I started my internship with Monterey County Behavioral Health. I saw the importance and need of more bilingual social workers in the Mental Health sector and social workers just in general. Kiser (2015) mentions that Most graduates of human services programs report that their field experiences were among the most important, valuable, and enjoyable part of their professional preparation. I agree, I have grown professionally quite a bit since I began my internship and I realized how important Mental Health is and how it can affect everyone one way or another. Being in the office and researching mental health, I noticed that clients are in need of becoming educated about Mental Health because they are affected by the stigma around it. I feel passionate about serving, advocating, and educating clients on the importance of Mental Health. For long years, I was not sure what career path to take, my internship and the 396s course has helped me figure out that I am really in the correct major. Now throughout this reflection I will be discussing about social justice, how my agency is addressing the issue, potential projects, analysis of my time at the agency, and steps to prepare for next semester. Empirical Research For Treatment Of Intercultural Marriage Empirical Research for treatment of Intercultural Marriage According to Hsu (2001), intercultural marriage is marriage formed by partners with relatively diverse cultural backgrounds (p.225). This is prominently seen through the film, in which Toula, a Grecian American marries Ian Miller, a Caucasian American. This film depicts the conflict that surrounds this union prior to marriage, such as planning the wedding, navigating the cultural differences and gaining parental approval for the union. Although it is understandable that intercultural marriage comes with far more difficulties than depicted. Hsu (2001) discusses that intercultural marriage, as opposed to intramarriage, where partners are from the same cultural background, often go to couple therapy because the merger of the two individual s cultural beliefs and values is causing conflict. However, because an individual s culture is embedded into their identity it is difficult to address cultural differences in a relationship. Consequently, a majority of the research available on treating intercultural marriage relates to the post modern belief of social constructionism and narrative therapy. According to Biever, Bobele and North (1998), understandings that are created about client s situations and the culture arise out of a mutual, collaborate construction of meaning (p. 184). Social constructionism provides a collaboration between the therapist and the client that allows the client to assess different
  • 29. The Pros And Cons Of Existentialism Existentialism has always been criticized because it is viewed as only a pessimistic approach. To those critics, existentialism is nothing more than not believing in a higher power, but what it truly means is that man is nothing else but that which he makes of himself, (Sartre, 3) which, in turn, makes it optimistic. By that definition, there would be no humannature because that would imply that there is a predetermined plan for humans. Sartre counters the claim of human nature by proving that all actions are a choice made by the individual since before having an essence, man only existed and then he had to create that essence. To start, existentialismis a doctrine which affirms that every truth and every action imply both an environment and a human subjectivity, (Sartre, 1). In other words, this means that whenever someone makes an action, there was a set of surroundings, literally and figuratively, as well as a human consciousness responsible for the action. For instance, in the beginning, there was one man and no one else to impose their beliefs upon him. Therefore, the man had to create his own understanding, his own essence, which came after he was already existing. In addition, Subjectivity closely relates to existentialism because it is the quality of existing in someone s mind rather than the external world. Altogether, these terms intertwine to show how human nature, a set of predetermined traits humans all possess, cannot exist because humans are

However, the golfer who accomplishes this has improved only part of what is needed in order to become a complete player. [pic] Interposition refers to the occlusion or obstruction of some part of an object by another. Objects further away will be blocked by those closer to you. The Necker cube (Figure 2)is an ambiguous figure, for though it is a cube, there is no interposition present, consequently generating the visual system to spontaneously flip between the two different orientations the cube can be positioned. Moreover, the way in which elements are shaded allows for depth perception. As the brain assumes light comes from above, elements which are lighter above darker below appear to bulge out, whereas those that are darker above lighter below appear to be indented. The brain additionally assumes we view things from an upright position, thus by turning upside down we can alter the perception of depth with regards to shadows. Furthermore, the position
