Ucf Admissions Essay
Crafting an essay on UCF admissions is a challenging task that demands careful consideration of
various aspects. Firstly, the writer must thoroughly research the University of Central Florida
and its admissions criteria, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of what the institution seeks
in potential students. This involves delving into UCF's mission, values, academic programs, and
any specific requirements for admission.
Next, the essay should reflect the applicant's personal experiences, achievements, and
aspirations. Articulating one's unique qualities and explaining how they align with UCF's values
is crucial. However, striking a balance between self-promotion and humility is a delicate task.
The writer needs to convey their strengths without coming across as overly boastful, all while
demonstrating a genuine passion for joining the UCF community.
The essay also requires careful attention to structure and coherence. Transitioning smoothly
between different aspects of the writer's life and tying them back to UCF's offerings can be
challenging. Additionally, maintaining a clear and engaging writing style while adhering to any
word or page limits adds an extra layer of complexity.
Furthermore, the UCF admissions essay necessitates meticulous proofreading to eliminate
grammatical errors, awkward phrasing, and inconsistencies. As it represents the applicant's
communication skills, attention to detail in language and presentation is crucial.
In conclusion, writing an essay on UCF admissions demands a multifaceted approach,
incorporating research, self-reflection, effective communication, and a keen eye for detail.
Success in crafting a compelling essay relies on the writer's ability to synthesize personal
experiences with the unique attributes of the University of Central Florida.
For those seeking assistance with such essays or similar tasks, various resources are available,
including online platforms like HelpWriting.net, where professional writers can provide
support in creating well-crafted and tailored pieces to meet specific requirements.

management tasks that might help the organization to...
Identify 5 to 10 expected ongoing management tasks that might help the organization
to prepare to administer the network operating system:
Network and computer systems administrators are responsible for the day to day
operation of an organization s computer networks. They organize, install, and support
an organization s computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area
networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication
systems. Being a System or Network Administrator of a large computer network can
be a difficult, and time consuming task. It is not as simple as people might think.
Yes, once it is all running well, the life of a Network Administrator may seem easy,
but when things go wrong, it can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remember to always think of the future. Once it s all implemented and built, you can
administer your network.
When administrating a network, you have to ensure critical services have as close
to 100% uptime, because if they are down, your users are going to hassle you all the
time and that can be quite annoying with some users. When maintaining a network,
you also have a number of other tasks to perform every day. These include:
User management
Adding, removing and apply security to user accounts and groups
Hardware
Upgrading hardware
Replacing faulting hardware
Software
Providing support for applications and operating systems
Ensuring critical data is being backed up
Monitoring
Monitor the system
Checking logs
Conducting security audits
Support
Attending to users help requests
Writing documentation
One of the hardest challenges in administrating a network is application support.
You can very rarely just add a major application or a network service without any
issues. Your network will need to support it. For example, you cannot host a website
if you only have dialup internet. Other factors that are needed to be taken into
consideration are:
Does it need to be secured? Both physically and virtually; internally and externally
Can the application be supported Are their people who know how to use the
application?
What risks will it introduce? Viruses, Hackers, privacy?
Is there enough network capacity to
Theme Between Frankenstein And Jekyll And Hyde
The growth of scientific knowledge in the 1800s had a major impact on the arts in
general, particularly literature, with the emergence of a trend for writers to explore
the concept and creation of identity, relating it to the constraints of society.
Frankenstein is shown to create the Creature due to his obsession with knowledge.
Similarly, Jekyll creates Hyde due to scientific interest. DantГЁs is shown to create
his identities, not due to the growth of science, but in order to become part of the
development of culture in France after the events of the Revolutionary Wars. Creators
are shown to have brought their creations into existence due to the progressions of
society and culture, which displays the construction of new identities as an almost...

He is trapped by the guilt that he feels over William s death, Justine s execution,
and the creation of the Creature. Whilst Jekyll and Frankenstein are trapped in the
idea of their creations, Dumas presents DantГЁs as unable to act outside his own
limits, becoming trapped by his own creation. The creation of Monte Cristo traps
DantГЁs by forcing him to constantly adopt a different persona, although he
appears less constrained by this than he was as DantГЁs: the development of the
Count places him in a higher social standing than before, which allows him to act
above the constraints of society. The novel s structure therefore does not create the
idea that DantГЁs is trapped he appears to be liberated in his higher role. Despite
this, his time in the Chateau d If causes him to become trapped by the idea of
getting revenge. McKee states that people who are more vengeful are motivated by
power... and the desire for status, in spite of the constraints of society, which fits with
DantГЁs character after his time in prison. He becomes stuck in the idea of getting
revenge and is unable to escape this once his plot has begun. Despite this, and unlike
Frankenstein and Jekyll, DantГЁs is able to act outside the constraints of
The Last Race
Henry ford once said, Even a mistake may turn out to be the one thing necessary to a
worthwhile achievement. Mistakes can make smarter, learning from them can help
us not make the same mistake next time. They also make us wiser, but in the end
mistakes do their job. They teach us, they make us stronger. Runninga raceis mentally
and physically tough, but in the end finishing is always worth it. Not finishing a race
is a big mistakethat I made. Okay girls on the line! , yelled Mr. Wesley, We re doing
time trials for the 800, All the girls lined up, eager to see how they do, but nervous
for reasons of their own. Mr. Wesley told us about how a waterfall start works and set
us up. He told us how and what to do. On your marks, said Mr. Wesley, Get set. Go!
We were off, some girls were faster than others. I was closer to the front and running
fast. What I didn t realize was that I was going too fast. And as we got closer to the
end of the first lap, I was breathing heavily and coughing, I was like a fish out of
water. I was gasping for air. I walked off with a stitch in my side and slightly light
headed. There had been girls in front of me, but they were doing just fine. As I
walked off to get a drink of water people ran past, and I realized that I had been the
only one to give up. I was wondering what would my parents think? But there was no
way to undo what I had just done. How was track?
Alfred Binet
Alfred Binet (July 11, 1857 October 18, 1911) was a French psychologist who
invented the first usable intelligence test, known at the time as the Binet test and
today referred to as the IQ test His principal goal was to identify students who needed
special help in coping with the school curriculum. Along with his collaborator
ThГ©odore Simon, Binet published revisions of his intelligencescale in 1908 and
1911, the last appearing just before his death. Binet was born as Alfredo Binetti in
Nice, then part of the Kingdom of Sardinia. He was the only child of a physician
father and an artist mother. His parents separated when he was young, and Binet then
moved to Paris with his mother. He attended law school, and earned his degree in

Simon had nominated himself a few years before as Binet s research assistant and
worked with him on the intelligence tests that Binet is known for, which share
Simon s name as well. In 1905, a new test for measuring intelligence was introduced
and simply called the Binet Simon scale. In 1908, they revised the scale, dropping,
modifying, and adding tests and also arranging them according to age levels from
three to thirteen.
In 1904 a French professional group for child psychology, La SociГ©tГ© Libre pour
l Etude Psychologique de l Enfant, was called upon by the French government to
appoint a commission on the education of retarded children. The commission was
asked to create a mechanism for identifying students in need of alternative education.
Binet, being an active member of this group, found the impetus for the development
of his mental scale.
Binet and Simon, in creating what historically is known as the Binet Simon Scale,
comprised a variety of tasks they thought were representative of typical children s
abilities at various ages. This task selection process was based on their many years
of observing children in natural settings. They then tested their measurement on a
sample of fifty children, ten children per five age groups. The children selected for
their study were identified by their school teachers as being average for their age.
The purpose of this scale of normal functioning, which would later be revised twice
using more stringent standards, was to compare

information about the financial position, performance and changes in financial
position of an entity that is useful to a wide range of users in making economic

What is meant by saying that accounting information should be В‘decision useful ?
As stated in the AASB Framework, financial statements play an utmost important role
to a variety of users, which mainly consist of the investors, employees, lenders,
suppliers and other trade creditors, customers, governments and their agencies, as

Lenders are only willing to fund loans when they have the knowledge that there is an
ability to repay this principal debt at the end of the specific period and make interest
payments periodically as they fall due. As the lenders, such as the banks, are
concerned with earning returns and for a secured investment, they will in particularly
look at the amount of assets В– cash and those that will soon be converted to cash,
and to compare it against the liabilities falling due in the future ( Kloot et al., 1992,
p. 28). For a В‘protection buffer for the bank should there be any losses in the entity
that borrows, the bank will notice the amount of ownership capital (Kloot et al.,
1992).
Suppliers and other trade creditors use the financial information to rate the ability to
achieve their objectives of maximising the В‘rate of return on funds supplied
(Whittred et al, 2004). Thus, they will be interested in reports that show the ability to
pay for the liabilities as they fall due, just as how lenders will search for these specific
information. Governments and their agencies is another specific group of users
interested in abstracting information with a different objective of monitoring and
regulating an entity s activities, performance and profits, since this will affect the
nation s employment level and aids in determining the taxation policies they should
be implementing to best suit the given situation.

Anne Bronte Research Paper
For many years, Anne BrontГ« s literary works have been viewed as classics of
English literature. BrontГ« had a unique way of being able to portray realistic
situations in her poems and short novels (PoemHunter, 2014). She was not afraid to
bring up the realities behind male alcoholism and brutality in her most famous
pieces of literature, Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. In addition, she
also wrote several poems including Farewell, A Prayer, and Confidence. Anne
BrontГ« is part of a literary dynasty with her famous sisters Charlotte BrontГ«, known
for writing Jane Eyre, and Emily BrontГ«, known for writing Wuthering Heights.
Although Anne BrontГ« is thought of as the least talented BrontГ« sister, she has

Organic Food Research Papers
Food directly affects to human health; it supplies energy for human activities. Now,
choosing good foods for family becomes a hard problem with many households
when people hear about the toxic ingredients in food every day. The diseases, which
have been linked to food poisoning, are increasing day by day. The development of
new technology analyzed the nutrient elements, and figured out the risks of
poisonous elements in food. The scientists researched a new farming method called
organic farmingmethod that is producing the best quality food for every person.

For instance, the effect on cells is up to four times when Brilliant Blue and MSG are
combined. It will go up to seven times when Quinoline Yellow and Aspartame are
combined together (Lee par. 6). The reason of diarrhea is from remaining toxic
elements, which cannot be cleaned by rinsing. Moreover, organic foods have more
nutritional elements. Those are essential ingredients, which enhance people s health.
According to the Organic Consumers Association, organic food has 25% more
nutrition in terms of vitamins and minerals than products derived from industrial
agriculture. Organic products have higher level of beta carotene, vitamin A, D, E,
essential acids, and essential minerals ( Why We par. 1 2). Furthermore, organic
farming method also protects the farmers and the pickers who are working and
contacting with pesticides everyday on the farm. The consumers protect the farmers
indirectly, and protect themselves directly because organic food does not contain
pesticides. In 2007, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency
data, the amount of pesticide active ingredient used in farming in the U.S. is 1,133
million pounds (3). It is true that the remaining pesticides can be removed after
washing in some kind of fruit and veggies, but it is only a small proportion. The
remaining pesticides in non organic food cannot be removed after washing especially
in thinner skin fruit such as strawberries,
Epic Poem Parody
In the world of literature and poetry, it s typically not hard to find something
written about a hero, or something heroic, like an epic. Epics are long poems,
typically told orally in ancient times, about the adventures of a hero or heroine and
their deeds. The Iliad should immediately come to the mind of any student
proficient in western literature. Nonetheless, the themes and archetypes of these
works known as epics are so well known, that they are even parodied, take
completely out of context, and pasted on the wall for laughs. One of the most
recognized parodies of this kind would be Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock.
The Rape of the Lock is a story about taking a minor incident and satirizing it by
making it into a huge and important epic of divine proportions. One might think of
the phrase a tempest in a teapot , which perfectly describes this poem. In the poem,
the main character, a girl named Belinda, has her hairunwillingly cut by a baron, and
the struggle to regain her lost hair even pulls in mythical creatures like sylphs to
describe this epic poem. Pope was actually asked to write something like this in order
to reconcile two Catholic families, as the hair cutting fiasco was based off a real
event that caused bad blood between the two aforementioned families. The man who
requested the poem, John Caryll, hoped that if the two families could laugh about the
whole thing, they would put the whole thing behind them and end their estrangement

Jeffrey Eugenide s The Virgin Suicides
Jeffrey Eugenide s novel The Virgin Suicides exploits the suicides of five teenage
sisters located in a suburban neighborhood. The Lisbon girls lives are retold through
the eyes of middle aged men, who knew them as young boys. Through the group of
boys, we invade the privacy of the girls and become witnesses to their adolescent
tragedies. We watch the demise of the Lisbon family and the destructive nature of
their surroundings. Eugenide manipulates the setting to mirror the doomed tone and
imminent misfortune of the Lisobon family. The setting is very symbolic in the
novel and coincides with the events of the plot allowing for an intense read. Sophia
Coppola s mise en scГЁne, does not achieve the same intensity that the setting
accomplishes in the novel because she removes a majority of the symbools. The
physical community setting, the atmosphere, does not mirror the characters emotions
as it does in the novel and diverges from the themes of the novel. By comparing The
Virign Suicides novel, to Coppola s film adaptation, we can see how the film
attempts to uphold a positive presentation of white utopia by removing negative
symbolism established in the setting of the novel. Coppola priorities this above the
acknowledgment of the tragedies of the Lisbon girls and... Show more content on

The Middle Period And The Fall Of The Medieval Period
The Medieval Period lasted from 400 1500 AD and began with the fall of the
Western Roman Empire. The fall and the beginning of this era had massive
changes to the social and economic systems of that time. These changes began to
occur because of the start of feudalism in both Europe and Asia during this time in
hope to protect themselves from barbarians. At that time, the feudal system was
the law of the land, and the way that the upper class maintained control over the
lower class. To maintain this order the upper class provided protection to the lower
class and in exchange, the lower class worked for the upper class. This was true in
both Asia and Europe as they both had a social class system to make sure
everything isn t going to chaos. Yet, these ideals weren t passed on between one
another, more that each area adapted to that type of government based on the
circumstances. Even in this time where there was uncivilized and odd people
rampaging about, there was people whom had done great achievements. These
people allowed their nations to advance whether it was by fighting and conquering
land, preaching of their religion, or by creating marvelous inventions. They did
amazing and remarkable things to not only advance their nation but as well affect
them long after their deaths. Making sure that their legacies were never forgotten or

Ray Bradbury s The Martian Chronicles Essay
Ray Bradbury s The Martian Chronicles
If the Martian Chronicles had been written in the 1999 s instead of fifty years ago,
many issues and problems would change. Ray Bradbury wrote his book in 1946. In
it he wrote about problems such as censorship, man s cruelty to man, and loneliness.
Each issue shows up in one or two of his chronicles. All of his issues affect every one
of his characters in many different ways.
Censorship is a main problem or issue today, and in the book it shows up in one of
his chronicles, Usher II . In this chronicle, a man builds a house of Usher. One man

K., or Yll. Yll gets jealous and demands that Ylla not leave the house. He thinks that
she has fallen in love with the earthling. While she is at home waiting like a good
wife, he goes out and shoots the men, not even thinking of his wife.
The form of cruelty in that chronicle is less physical and more on the note of just
trying to keep your wife happy. Yll did not even regard his wife and only had his
own intentions intended upon. In The Off Season it is more of not listening to your
wife when she is right and even a little bit of physical violence.
In The Off Season , Sam Parkhill pushes his wife down and won t listen to her
when they are in trouble, even though she was right most of the time. The entire
time, she tells him what she thinks he should do, and he doesn t listen to her. One
incident happened when aliens (who were really nice) were chasing them and the
wife told him to stop and talk to the aliens. He just pushed her down and kept on
going, and when he finally did stop, the aliens gave him a present. Proving that the
wife was right the entire time.
Today, family cruelty happens more often than it should. Husband on wife, wife on
husband, or parents on children are the most common. Abused children are likely to
grow up to abuse their children too. Family members can even be taken advantage of,
too. Sometimes it can be an illness that makes them abuse others, or alcohol. Most of

The event which we had to reenact involved a well established neighborhood and a
church working with mentally ill patients. The church wanted to allow the facility
to keep the mentally ill patients at the church for the majority of the day. The
problem the neighborhood had with this plan was that the crime rate had already
increased and now these patients increase it further. If the facility for the mentally

unsupervised. Our professor s goal for the opposing groups was to come to a
common ground in regards to allowing the mentally ill patients to stay at the church.
As part of the facilitation our professor created an agenda on the board for the class

the inclusion of the mentally ill. Throughout the rest the facilitation both groups

Drosophila Suzukii Research Paper
ABSTRACT
Evaluation of Monitoring for Drosophila suzukii (Diptera: Drosophilidae) in the
Field and Laboratory in South Dakota and Infestation of Drosophila suzukii in
Raspberry Crops
Bennur Agbaba
2016 2017
The spotted wing Drosophila suzukii (Diptera: Drosophilidae) is an attacking pest of
berries crops. Unlike most other Drosophila, this insect can oviposit into ripe and
ripening berries, so that they make them unmarketable. D. suzukii is spreading
quickly throughout the continental US and they give a serious damage in
horticultural areas and the fruit industry. Spotted wing drosophila (SWD) puts its
eggs in both commercial fruit and wild fruits, so it is of great concern to fruit and
vegetable growers. It became a pest of economic significance, but it is important point
that requires early detection, monitoring and moderation to control it. Last researches
show that D. suzukii infests a number of wild plant species and also those may be
harvested commercially like cranberry. Gray dogwood (Cornus racemose Lam.),
Tatarian honeysuckle (Lonicera tatarica Linneaus), Mulberry (Morus alba L.),
Nanking cherry (Prunus tomentosa L.), Common chokecherry (Prunus virginiana L.),
Common buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica R. Davurica), Elderberry (Sambucus
Canadensis L.), White snowberry (Symphoricarpos albus L.), Yew (Taxus... Show

Applying management programs for D. suzukii involve the use of broad spectrum
insecticides mainly organophosphorus and pyrethroid insecticides provide a short
control, but combined with REIs (restricted entry interval), PHIs (Preharvest
Interval) and MRLs (Maximum Residue Limits) when selecting products to use.
(Iglesias et al., 2014). The most effective program is successful integrated pest
management (IPM) program for monitoring invasive pest because it aims to detect
pest populations before economic damage are reached and effective control actions

Application Of A Solid Foundation
Once the proposed project is understood and it is agreed upon that the system
requirements will be supported, a solid foundation must be built to support the
development of the system. Models and other documentation are used to aid in the
visualization and description of the proposed system. Process models are used to
identify and document the portion of system requirements that relates to data.
Processes are the logical rules that are applied to transform the data into meaningful
information. The three main tools used in process modeling are data flow diagrams,
which shows how data moves through an information system; a data dictionary,
which is a central storehouse of information about the system s data used by analysts
to collect,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The logical model revolves around the needs of the business rather than the
database. Once all necessary information is gathered, entity relationship diagrams,
business process diagrams, and process flow diagrams are produced as deliverables.
These diagrams are required to show the processes and data that exists and the
relationships between them. Before the physical modeling can begin, managers,
developers, and users review the diagrams and documentation generated to insure all
business requirements have been completely gathered and met. A physical model
outlines the actual design of a database according to the requirements that were
recognized during logical modeling. It converts the business model into a relational
database model in which objects are being defined at the schema level. A database
design effort is normally associated with one schema. A physical model creates
objects using tables and columns based on entities and attributes that were defined
during logical modeling, and defines constraints including primary keys, foreign keys
and other unique keys. To ensure that all information system needs are met, physical
models are often developed jointly by a team representing the data administration,
database administration, and application development areas (CA ERwin Data
Modeler Methods Guide CA, n.d.). Physical modeling is database specific, which
means the objects defined during
Brave New World
The year 2017 has seen a plethora of deadly disasters. Disasters, natural or man
made, are extremely disturbing events that cause hardship, suffering, injury, and
death. A disaster can be detrimental to human societies and their way of life. Natural
disasters, such as hurricanes, mudslides, and wild fires can cause everlasting changes
to humanity, biomes, and the planet. Likewise, man made events, such as war,
terrorist attacks, or toxic spills can be just as damaging. One job of the Secretary
General of the United Nations(UN) is to insure that humanitarian aid is provided to
relieve the pain and suffering caused by all types of disasters. In addition, saving
lives by utilizing our resources is the main goal of the UN. Norman Borlag once
stated, The destiny of world civilization depends upon providing a decent standard of
living for all mankind. Therefore, the issues that will be addressed using the
$50,000,000 plus anonymous contribution will involve providing humanitarian aid to
disaster torn areas in order improve the standard of living and preserve human dignity.
This is the most important dilemma facing the international community today.
This year countries from around the world have been severely impacted by deadly
natural disasters. For example, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria created
destruction and devastation to the Caribbean, Florida, and Texas. In south Asia,
torrential rain and floods have affected millions. Mudslides and flooding have

Wolf Gang
Wolf Gang; The Sheep in wolves clothing
What is the line between being civilized and tamed, against acting wild and savage?
What separates human intellect against animalistic nature? Humans have animalistic
instincts, yet we fear it often choosing to hide it calling it taboo or deeming it
inappropriate to a civilized society. Famed Psychologist Sigmund Freud once stated,
The pleasure of satisfying a savage instinct, undomesticated by the ego, is
incomparably much more intense than the one of satisfying a tamed instinct (Freud,
?) What Freud is saying is that satisfying a tamed instinct is artificial, compared to
satisfying something that is engrained in our animal nature. Animal Nature connects
itself to the short story The Company of Wolves ... Show more content on

The story is interesting by raising questions about what the savage instincts represents
to a community that is in the edge of civilization, in a location where nature and
society clash. The story in short represents Sigmund Freud s clash of human nature
and the animal state (Id), the cultured state (ego) and the self state (superego) and the
representation of humanity in a state where there is no discernible difference between
humans and beasts. In the end the humans have the potential to be as savage as the
wolves in the right circumstances.
The circumstances that created this nature of humans as wolves are influenced partly
by the location in which the story takes place, the forest. Like the Original Red
Riding Hood story the woods are as ominous and threatening to the young female
protagonist. Unlike Red Riding Hood though, the story by Angela Carter is much
more specific on the wolves and what they represent as symbols of human barbarity.
In the story, it is stated that, It is winter and cold weather. In this region of mountain
and forest, there is now nothing for the wolves to eat. (Carter,1085). The wolves or
savagery is created through condition, the influence of the location makes human
harder both physically and mentally,
Characters And Stereotypes In Grease s The Breakfast Club
When thinking of teen films our minds instantly might go to the well known film
The Breakfast Club which was released 1985. Some might think of the 1978 film
Grease. We think of these films because they portray the lives of a group of teens
for a day or even a school year, but the one thing teen films have in common are the
characters main setting is a high schoolor around a high school (Denby 367). The
2002 filmThe Perks of Being a Wallflower can be categorized, by Denby s standards,
a teen film, because it meets the criteria of having goofy young actors trying to make
an impression, teenage angst, and Charlie s, the main character s, enemies are the
popular upper classmen.
By Denby s standards, a teen film has the criteria of having goofy young actors
trying to make an impression on their viewers (Denby 367 8). One of the young
actresses casted in the film is Emma Watson who plays the character of Sam. Sam
teaches the viewer in an indirect way to be accepting. The first time this can be
seen is during the first party when she says to Charlie, the main character, Welcome
to the island of misfit toys (The Perks of Being a Wallflower). Sam also portrays
another important trait of being a bold young lady. This trait is empowering to not
only the the young lady viewers but the young men as well. Her boldness is shown
within the film during the first tunnel scene when she moves from the cab of the
truck to the bed of the truck while it is still in motion and stands with her
Examples Of Imagist Poetry
Introducing the Imagist Poetry
What is imagism? Only a handful of individuals were involved in this poetic
movement at the beginning of the twentieth century in Britain, and in America.
Imagism was about essential aesthetic ideas and criteria of modern poetry. What is
the difference between imagist poetry and any other poems that are well known for
their use of images? One would argue that every imagist poem is trying to reevaluate
the way that someone normally would approach imagery.
One of imagism famous poets was Ezra Pound. He was one of the founders of
imagism. He had three rules for writing an imagist poem. First of all, the direct
treatment of the thing, whether subjective or objective. The second one is to use
absolutely no word that did not contribute to the presentation. Finally, the third one
was regarding rhythm: to compose in sequence of the musical phrase, not in sequence
of the metronome (Ezra Pound A Retrospect). These are important rules worth

If the author would have added the word like to the poem between ... in the crowd

semicolon between the two lines of the poem, which distinctly makes a sudden
break in ideas. The apparition is like a ghostly appearance of these faces in the
crowd ( Ezra Pound In a Station of the Metro). The author is in subway system,
where all these people with all these ghostly faces and he hasn t seen them as
individuals, he is seeing them as a crowd with blurred faces passing through. The
author suggests that they are like petals as in leaves on a tree branch as they go

A.What are the advantages of the Starbucks Card to the company?
The most obvious advantage of the card to Starbucks is the guaranteed income.
Once people load money on the card it can only be spent at a Starbucks location. It
also makes tracking customer purchasing habits and preferences readily available.
Then there is the case of the forgotten or lost cards that never get used that equate
to pure profit. One last advantage is that with the card they have also created a
secondary market for sales by placing the cards in stores like Giant Eagle where
people that wouldn t come into the stores can buy the cards as a gift.
B.What are the advantages of the Starbucks Card to the customers?
The consumer can control their spending with the card. By loading the card with the
amount they allocate for coffee they can track their spending more effectively
Examples Of Justice In Antigone
Justice is in many stories with different reasons justice is being delivered or sought.
In Antigone, justice is sought for a dead brother, in the Theogony, justice is brought
by divine beings, and in Lucian s stories, justice is often contradictory. Antigone
and Theogony are to be taking more seriously than the comedic stories of Lucian,
and that is shown by how justice finds its way through the story. However, the
Theogony and Lucan s stories have a more ironic element to them to how justice
play out. Antigone is a story about Antigone, a woman who suffers the dead of her
parents and brothers. The story focuses on her seeking proper burial for one of her
dead brothers who fought against his own city. Creonthe king, honors one of the
dead brothers for fighting for his city and declares death to any who dares give
burial rites to the brother who opposed the city. As for Polyneices, who perished so
miserably, an order has gone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Antigone shows no fear towards what Creon has to say, telling her sister that she
can show contempt for those laws the gods all hold in honor (Antigone pg. ?). This
is important because it shows that in Antigone, the gods are placed above the
mortal rulers. Creon might be the ruler who sets laws over his land, but the gods
can set laws above even him. Antigone is telling her sister that burial rites is
something that must be done for all who face death because the gods order that; A
king has no power to ignore these rules, even if they were to want too. She tells
this directly to Creon himself, when she admits to the crime of giving burial rites to
her brother, Zeus did not announce those laws to me (Antigone pg. ?). In other
words, she told him that yes, she committed a crime from Creon s perspective, but
from her own perspective, she has done no crime because Zeus, the god of all, did not

I looked on as Del Packard struggled with the police about getting into the car. The
people who had gathered around to watch the action asked about what had
occurred and how I managed to figure it out. I repeated the story of the murder out
loud as I had practiced multiple times before in my head. Del was worried about
Rich removing him from his will taking with it the only life he knew and treasured.
He figured the only way to fix the problem was to kill. (People nowadays!)
Anyway, he had been learning and mastering the skill of mind control and decided
to test it out on a fellow who would be the least likely to be suspected. Dee! During
this time, a meeting had been occurring between Hugh, Justin, and Dee. Dee
needed help to debug the system but what Justin planned was to steal the whole
program. Justin went to talk to Rita at the same time that Dee took a bathroom
break . She made sure that H.T. was preoccupied and put on gloves to leave no
trace behind. Mind you, she was being manipulated by Del the whole time. Before
the murder, Rita had drugged Rich so that Justin was able to steal the program. Her
reason for betrayal was because he had been the one to break it off, leaving her the
one with hurt feelings. I guess that never settles well with ferocious sirens like her.
Dee came in soon after Rita and finished up the job by strangling Rich with a mouse
cord and punching the daylight out of him. She drops the gloves underneath Hugh s
bed and returns to the meeting. It continues until everyone has returned to their
places. Dee, having lost all memory of her actions goes to ask a question from Rich.
She screams and everyone runs over. And that s where my story begins. It was quite
hard to piece together the parts but when it is done, it is refreshing! So when are

Negative Influence Of Disney
In recent discussions regarding Disney s growing franchize, a controversial issue
has been whether Disney s stories and products encourage children to follow strict
gender roles. In this regard, some argue that Disney is wholesome and innocent, and
only wants to make animated films that every family has the opportunity to enjoy.
On the other hand, however, others argue that Disney is a corporation, whose
ultimate goal is to spread their brand and make a lot of money. In the words of
Michael Eisner, CEO of the Walt DisneyCo., We have no obligation to make history.
We have no obligation to make art. We have no obligation to make a statement. To
make money is our only objective (Mickey Mouse Monopoly). According to this

Those images then begin to shape what we know and understand about the world,
thus allowing the media to influence us. This issue is important because Disney has
become a primary educational resource for children worldwide and as Henry Giroux
points out, Disney is a teaching machine that not only exerts influence over
consumers but also wages an aggressive campaign to peddle its political and cultural
influence in the United States and overseas (Giroux xiv).
It is often said that Disney s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of the most
successful films that Walt Disney Studios has produced. According to Business
Insider, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the tenth highest grossing film of all
time in the United States. As a child, I spent no time considering the themes of
gender roles and domestication of women in the film. However, while growing up,
the impression that women cook and clean while men go out to work continued to
stay with me. Though I concede that women are certainly a part of today s
workforce, I still insist that in the shadow of traditional gender roles, there is a
slightly forced sense of acceptance when a father mentions that he is a stay at home
dad while his wife earns the family s income. It is this sense of discomfort that is a
direct product from the conservative ideals that Disney promotes in its films. For
example, in the Brothers Grimms story of Little Snow White, the dwarfs cottage was
clean when Snow White first found

Shame, Shame And The Loss
What is shame and how different people cope with it.
No one knows when shame appeared for a first time. Maybe in ancient times, maybe
in 15th century, or perhaps since the dawn of man. The fact, which is known, is that
the majority of people experience this feeling at least once in a lifetime. Shame is a
strong feeling, which affects not only regular people, but also celebrities. We will
see it in the article The Contestant by Daniel Alarcon, where he tells the story of the
fame, shame and the loss as a result. Also, in this essay I will show the difference
between shame experienced by regular people and celebrities, by analyzing articles
from different authors and comparing behavior of stars and people. Shame is a
feeling that controls us, scare, and influence human s behavior. Nothing matters when
we talk about the feeling of shame: gender, religion, race, age, social status, fame.
Before talking about different ways people go through shame, I d like to talk about
what shame is. The word shame comes from an old English sceamu , Dutch
schamen and German scham , according to the dictionary.com, and means a painful
feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish
behavior. According to the article by Eric Posner called A Terrible Shame: Shaming
is a form of social control. It occurs when a person violates the norms of the
community, and other people respond by publicly criticizing, avoiding, or ostracizing
him (2015). In other words,

Craig Cervantes has come up with a new revolutionary Patented process that stands to
change the whole game of manufacturing Aged Spirts such as Bourbon, Scotch,
Whiskey, Rums, Tequilas and Brandys as well as many others that are currently aged
in Oak and wooden barrels. Traditionally, Whiskey and Scotches are aged in
charred oak barrels in the long aging process that normally takes between 3 to 7 years
to passively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a normal oak aging process the amount of surface area of the barrel is stationary
and only has a finite amount of the actual oak coming into contact with the Spirts
within. In re thinking the process the eureka moment came when instead of putting
the spirits inside the barrel basically the barrel is turned inside out and the sprits now
surround the Oak. In the process a negative pressure is applied which draws the
alcohol into the wood at much higher rate and getting full penetration of the wood to
maximize the drawing the flavors from the Oak. Another unique result of this method
is that you can do much more of a customization of the actual ending flavor profile.
In a traditional method the Charring of the barrel is ordered from the cooper when
they have made the barrel. The charring on the inside of the barrel can be altered to
end up with a different end result depending on how deep the charring is done. With
this new method the wood is made into actual chips which are then toasted for a
period of time at a high temperature and it changes the
Carmelization profile depending on the extent of the toasting. You can now eliminate
certain flavor notes or bring certain flavor notes into a finished product in a much
more consistent level than was ever possible in the past.
Another thing that can be done during the aging process is to introduce other types
of woods in the finished flavor profiles. It can be done using woods

group of players. Because of the immense amount of talent in the game at this time
period, basketball was emerging as a big part of a lot of people s lives. Basketball
was growing in popularity and was becoming one of America s favorite sports to
watch. Magic Johnson only made this sport that more exciting. Also, in the late
80s and early 90s, the HIV virus was a topic of much uncertainty and fear to the
world (Layman). Basketball served to be a great source of entertainment to keep
the disease off of people s minds, and to root for something. When Magic Johnson
actually announced that he had the virus, the world learned more about the disease
and admired Johnson for his braveness. This incredible announcement showed the
world that there is hope for this terrible virus. Through this event, Johnson
displayed what a great human being he really is. Magic Johnson is displayed to be

Ana Mendieta Feminist Art Analysis
The feminist art movement that emerged in the 1970s aimed to change the
established narrative in art and give women a more prominent voice. The overall
goal of this movement was to revolutionize the nature of art in a way that would
transform society. Art produced during this era focused on experience and meaning
over form and style. Thus, feminist artists wanted to include more representation of
the female experience, as it was so severely left out of art, and recognize it as
different but equally as valid as their male counterparts.
Feminist art sought to elicit a response from its audience in order to get people to
acknowledge and discuss feminist issues so that society as a whole could move
toward change. By challenging the norms of patriarchal structure not only within the
art community but in everyday life as well feminist art worked in parallel with the
core objectives of feminism. A key component of feminism is confronting the
oppression of women, and feminist artists addressed this in many forms, one of
which was bringing light to violence perpetrated against women. This theme in
feminist art helped to foster a dialogue that forced viewers to talk about violence
against women and inspire involvement towards a less complicit society. Feminist
art is particularly powerful because it worked to educate its viewers on the extent of
this problem, as well as empower and heal victims.
Ana Mendieta is a well known feminist artist whose art explores a range of themes
Dualist View On Identity
Identity criteria are a main component of who a person actually is, central elements
of how someone sees who they are and essential properties are urged to determine a
person s identity. How philosophers view the soul is essential one s personality. The
duelists believe that wherever the soul goes, that s where the mindgoes. The dualists
view is based off of the fact that there is more to our brain and ourselves than just the
physical aspect, the soulstrongly supports this claim. Materialism argues against
the duelists because they only believe in the physical component of the world, in
their eyes a soul does not exist. Lastly, in the psychological view, John Locke
implemented memory into personal identity. Leibniz and Reid challenged Locke s
ideas and came up with a reasonable conclusion. Personal identity can be defined is
through identity theft, but it is the central elements of how someone perceives
themselves to determine who they actually are. One is that a single soul, one and
the same, has been with this body I call mine since it was born. The other is that
one soul was associated with it until five years ago and then another,
psychologically similar, inheriting all the old memories and beliefs, took over. A
third hypothesis is that every five years a new soul takes over. A fourth is that every
five minutes a new soul takes over Weirob views souls by being able to move from
one body to the next without us knowing, the duelists strongly disagree with this
theory.
The Human Nervous System Essay
The Human Nervous System
The nervous system is the most complex part of the body, as they govern our
thoughts, feelings, and bodily functions. It is an important factor in science because
it can lead to new discoveries for cures or diseases. The studies of the nervous system

is a network of neurons (nerve cells that sends information to the brain to be analyzed.

the electrical impulse depends on the size of the nerve fiber. In small nerves, the
rate it transmits impulses is from a half to two meters a second. The larger the
diameter of the nerve fiber, the higher rate of conducting impulses. There is less
electrical resistance in thick fibers. When nerve impulse jumps from one node (gaps
in nerve fibers) to the next, it is called saltatory conduction. Saltatory conduction
conducts faster because it contains an insulator that prevents leakage of currents. The
rate of conduction is 2 to 120 meters a second. Not all nerves conduct impulse
electrochemically. Some impulses jump from nerve to nerve, bypassing the synapse.
Unlike other cells, once neurons are lost, they can t be regenerated. Fortunately, there
are about 10 billion neurons and they have other cells to aid them in carrying
messages to other nerves. But if nerves are severed, the nerve fibers can regenerate if
the two ends are reattached precisely. However, restored functions may produce
different actions because the nerves might not be connected to the right channel.
There are three main parts of the nervous system: the central, peripheral, and
autonomic
Critique And Analysis Of Harry Cleaver

Cleaver offers a shift of analysis of the international debt crisis by examining it
through class terms. International debt crisis was seen as the inability/failure of
capital to control working class power. Cleaver explains this by analyzing the
origins/genesis of debt, locates the continuation of the crisis as the failure of capital
to deal with working class power, and on why working class should focus on the

Althusser (1970) forwarded the idea of Ideological State Apparatuses that function
through ideology. He identified these various ISAs as religious, educational, family,
legal, political (includes political system and parties), trade unions, communications
(media), and cultural (literature, sports etc). These ISAs represses working class
mobilization not through violence but through ideology. Cleaver failed to see that
working class self valorization is hindered by equally powerful forces: the Ideological
State Apparatuses (Althusser 1970). In different countries working class are
repressed not only in the field of the traditional State apparatuses (repressive) like the
Government, the Administration, the Army, the Police, the Courts, the Prisons etc
that functions by violence but also by Ideological State Apparatuses which functions
by ideology (Althusser 1970). This includes culture, religion (the Churches),

working class political consciousness which stops them to wield political power to
change the system where they are
Ethical Dilemmas In Medical Research
Doctors have always been thought of as the caretakers of mankind and that is why
the type of medicine performed by the doctors of Nazi Germany was so shocking,
egregious and immoral that it violated the trust placed in them by humanity. The
Holocaust seems so far removed from our reality today, and it may be hard for
people to imagine the horrors inflicted by such doctors as Joseph Mengele and others
in the name of medical advancement . There is no doubt that these experimentations
are viewed as barbaric, unethical and thinly veiled under the guise of science. Many
feel that findings from these studies should never be published or used. An ethical
and moral dilemma still remains today as some of the research resulted in data that

One of the most gruesome and well known doctors of human experimentation
during the Holocaust was Josef Mengele. He was known as the Angel of Death
(citation) or the White Angel for his cold and cruel demeanor during the camp
selection process (6). Mengele performed many horrific experiments on twins.
Most experiments were performed on Jewish and Roma (Gypsy) children in the
context of finding out the genetic origins of disease and to also to see if he could
unlock the secret of multiple births in the hopes of increasing the German race. Of
the 1000 set of twins that were experimented on, only 200 sets survived. (7). If
Mengele did not deem the patients worthy of being kept alive, he would have their
bodies dissected and cataloged. Mengele did such atrocious things to these children
such as injecting lethal chemicals into their eyes in the hopes of creating blue eyes, a
requirement for his pursuit of the perfect Aryan specimen (6). He also injected the
patients with mysterious concoctions or syringes filled with diseases such as typhus
or tuberculosis to see the effects on the body. Another of his atrocities involved
sewing twins together in the hopes of creating his own set of Siamese twins.
Moreover, Mengele performed surgeries without anesthesia for such things as
amputations, organ removal and
Family Member Of The Family
Growing up, in my childhood years, there has always been four family members. It
has always been my father, mother, brother and me. My brother is my half brother,
but he has lived with me my whole life. I would depart with him to his dad s side of
the family on certain occasions. I attained closely to his side of the familyand we
called each other relatives even though we actually are not. Most of the time, his
dad was not around even at family functions. My mom had my brother when she
was a senior in high school. When she had my brother, she did not have it easy. My
grandmother did not want anything to do with my mom when she achieved
pregnancy. My grandmother had kicked her out when she became pregnant and
told her she is an adult now so she needs to take care of herself and the baby. My
mom worked at a fast food restaurant for the longest time and she did not have the
needs to feed my brother as she needed to. They were very poor for a while, but my
mom found a new job and that helped them tremendously. Not only did she acquire
more money to support her and my brother, but also she met my father. They then
married a couple years later and my father chose to appear in court to extract
custody of my brother. To this day, if you ask my brother who his dad is he will
say my father. His birth dad was never around and never wanted anything to do with
him, so in my brother s eyes our father is his dad. My brother was about two years
old when my parents married, therefore; my
The National Alliance For End Homelessness Essay
One of the simplest pieces of knowledge we acquire in elementary school (for
future growth and development) are the three basic needs a living organism
requires for living: food, water, and shelter. However, not everyone has access to all
of these essentials. Homeless people are faced with awful conditions and suffer
more due to poor weather conditions, diseases, and lack of safety. There hasn t been
much progress on this issue, and if this continues, the number of homeless people will
only increase. In a few states the topic is being named as a statewide emergency , but
unfortunately this problem is national. Instead of focusing on state programs, local
programs and non profit organizations to fix the housing issue, we must all contribute
to ending this epidemic. The National Alliance to End Homelessness(NAEH)
released an article stating, In January 2015, 564,708 people were homeless on a
given night in the United States (Snapshot of Homelessness). We must develop a
solution to end long term homelessness immediately. The best way of solving this
issue is to provide stable long term housing, which is a term used to describe the
home s environment and financial status.
The most logical solution for homelessness is a project known as Housing First. The
Housing First program was first launched by Tanya Tull, an individual with first hand
experience of poverty and advocate for homelessness, due to an increasing number of
homeless people in the 1990s. Unfortunately, the

The Private Memoirs And Confessions Of A Justified Sinner
The history of gothic literature is a discussion of how the classic gothic literature
has morphed into today s contemporary gothic literature. From the beginning days of
gothic writing one of the main focuses has been on the issues that were relevant in
the county or world at the time. Most people think of gothic writings as a scary story
of gloom and doom, but there are many aspects that encompass a gothic writing. The
true is that there are many elements to a gothic writing. The writer does not need to
use all of them at the same time, but to use some of them to make it a gothic writing.
As technology and the social atmosphere have evaluated writers have incorporated
these elements into their writing. Gothic literature is said to have... Show more

paradigm for the human psyche, echoes of disturbing behaviors forced readers of
gothic literature to interpret subtexts of prejudice, classism, and abnormality in
thought and action: in the motivation for James Hogg s The Private Memoirs and
Confessions of a Justified Sinner. (Snodgrass) Many people of authority in
America believed that the gothic genre was source of outside evil on the new
world. This is supported by Reverend Enos Hitchcock s Memoirs of the
Bloomsgrove Family, in which he blames the corruption of young women in the
new nation on foreign writings and foreign manners and prays May this rising
empire cease to import both the one and the other! (Ringel) The 1800 s rang in a
new era of writers and twist on the gothic style. One of the major contributors was
Edgar Allan Poe with stories and poetry that still resonates with high schoolers to
this day. Works that are still read or at the very least spoken of in high school are
stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Herman Melville. Noteworthy works by
Importance of Obeying Traffic Laws Essay
The Importance of Obeying Traffic Laws Traffic laws are designed to protect you

ourselves at risk but also innocent bystanders and drivers. By knowing the rules of
the road, practicing good driving skills and generally taking care as a road user, you
help play a vital role in preventing a crash. You will also be making road safety
policies more effective. Many factors play a role in road safety including following
the speed limits that are posted and making sure safety equipment is properly

Basically the higher the speed of a vehicle, the more difficult collision avoidance
becomes and the greater the damage if a collision does occur. Speeding is defined
as the act or an instance of driving, especially a motor vehicle, faster than is
allowed by law. Speeding is often one component of aggressive driving which is
defined as committing a combination of moving traffic offenses so as to endanger
other persons or property. There are strong direct relationships between the speed
at which we drive and the risk of crash involvement and the injuries sustained if a
crash results. The probability of injury and the severity of those injuries increases
exponentially with vehicle speed. Even small increases in speeds result in a large
increase in the forces experienced by the vehicle occupants or other road users. Put
simply, the faster you drive, the harder you hit and the more severe the injuries you
or someone else are likely to suffer. Traveling over the speed limit can be especially
dangerous in bad weather conditions. Speeding was a factor in 53 percent of fatal
crashes that occurred when there was snow or slush on
Descriptive Essay On Thunder
Back then in May of 2008, most days at work, I spent my time outside hiking and
walking ten to twenty miles a day, under pleasant, clear skies and sun in the fresh
Rocky Mountain air, where you can breathe deep and be refreshed. On May twenty
second around 11:00 A.M, I was outside and ten miles from home, enjoying the ever
changing weather of northern Colorado. The day started out clear, but grew
increasingly cloudy and windy not at all unusual for spring in the Rockies. East in the
distance, thunder drew my attention to the dark, ominous clouds traveling northwest,
bellowing up into the sky as lightning danced in, through, around, and from cloud to
cloud, indicative of thunder and hailstorms; I was thankful the looming and
foreboding stormwas there and not over me. Unaware I was seeing the birth and
growth of as many as seven tornados, forming a devastating wedge, ranging in
width from one half to three quarters of a mile wide; a monster with winds in
excess 165 miles per hour, moving toward and that would soon hit my home town of
Windsor, just before noon; I was oblivious to the peril and confusion my family and
friends would soon be facing from this encroaching demon.
As the day started out tranquil, Lauren, my youngest rode her bike to school to take
advantage of the pleasant weather, for her it was the last day of school and a half
day. Shortly before noon she and her friend would end their school year and start
summer vacation free from the four walls that could protect them, and out in the open
they would hop on their bikes and pedal the mile home.
Enjoying life and spending the day with her boyfriend, my daughter Brianna planned
to share a simple picnic lunch at noon with him. Despite the dark clouds and
increasing winds, they stopped at a local park to enjoy their meal. The winds soon
turned to gusts and gales; and hail stones quickly changed their plans.
Seeing the change in the weather, Lauren revised her plans and called home, asking
her mother to pick her up instead. Rain, wind, and hail was not in her forecast even
if it was a short ride.
Then, with little warning, at 11:50 A.M. a sickening heavy feeling engulfed Windsor
as dark gray green clouds obscured daylight and hope as violent
Mysterious Entities Of The Pacific Northwest Part 1
Summary
Mankind s imagination has always been excited by the possibilities of unknown
regions (Nickell, 109). In the article Mysterious Entities of the Pacific Northwest
Part 1 , Joe Nickell explains the possibilities of pseudoscience, a presented scientific
belief that is not yet scientifically valid, as well as the possibility of hoaxes. While
there have been many claimed sightings of paranormal activity such as Bigfoot,
Ghosts and the Loch Ness Monster, there has not been evidence to prove these
claims as real. Almost everybody has heard their share of ghosts stories and the
myths behind Bigfoot and the Loch NessMonster. These stories are universally
shared, and recently, people have provided evidence claiming to have seen such

Being the first to witness a true sign of a paranormal activity is a dream for many
people who believe that humans are not the only ones in the universe today. With
the amount of publicity and beliefs that come with pseudoscience, people start to
become delusional because of their want to witness a UFO or the infamous
Bigfoot. When one is in an area that is said to contain the possibility of UFO s,
such as the Northwest, the possibility that a UFO will show up can be deceiving
and lead people to depict objects in the distance as such phenomena. In Nickell s
second article, the Mysterious Entities of the Pacific Northwest Part 2 , a pilot claims
to have a seen a group of UFO s, when further investigation revealed that the objects
turned out to be pelicans. A veteran Northwest Airlinespilot who has flown over the
Pacific Northwest s flying saucer country for 15 years spotted nine big round discs
weaving northward two thousand feet below us. Capt. Gordon Moore stated, We
investigated and found they were real all right real pelicans (117). This claim was
made soon after two scientists Arnold and Johnson claimed to have seen numerous
amounts of UFO s while flying in the Cascade Mountains. The short duration of time
between these two claims shows that your brain can play tricks on you when trying
to witness pseudoscience. Had the possibility of UFO s never been brought up,
Moore, the pilot, would probably never
David Mcnaughton s Analysis
David McNaughton, a moral particularist, contrasted the ideas of attending the circus
with family versus reintroducing hanging for terrorist murders. McNaughton studied
the precise nature of the various properties of the action. He stated that if he were to
take his nephews and nieces to the circus for a treat, then he would be doing the right
thing because he has succeeded in giving them pleasure and they enjoyed the
experience. However, the point that McNaughton is trying to get across is that just
because the outcome of an action produces pleasure, joy, and happiness, it does not
always mean the action was the morally right decision to make. This is where he
described the issue of reinstituting public hangings. Although public hangings

Symbolism in The Grapes of Wrath Essay example
Symbolism in The Grapes of Wrath
John Steinbeck is an author known worldwide for his compelling stories and
novels. One such novel is The Grapes of Wrath. This novel was written to expose
the plight of those dispossessed from their lands by the Great Depression. Steinbeck
uses several literary elements to help relate the story to the reader. In The Grapes of
Wrath, as in his other works, Steinbeck relies on the use of symbolism to strengthen
and enhance the plot.
By far, the most involved example of symbolism is found in the character of the
preacher, Jim Casy. Casy not only is a Christ figure but also embodies the belief of
Transcendentalism. These are supported by many examples throughout the story.
Some of these examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Transcendentalists, including such names as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry
David Thoreau, believed in the essential unity of all creation, the innate goodness of
man, and the supremacy of insight over logic aand experience for the revelation of
the deepest truths (Encyclopaedia Britannica, Vol 11, 894). Casy, by comparison,
says in the story, All that lives is holy (Steinbeck 157), tying in the belief of the
natural goodness found in man. As his beliefs develop, Casy begins to see that all of
creation and humankind is united, and that he must not work for the improvement of
the souls of individuals, but for the improvement of the total human condition.
Transcendentalism differs greatly from mainstream Christianity, but Steinbeck chose
to incorporate this belief into the character of Casy for a very important reason. In
the time period when this book was written, the Great Depression, the worship of
some distant God was not the first thing on the minds of the millions of people who
were starving, barely earning enough to keep alive. Transcendentalism, however, was
something with which these people could relate. If all humanity was united, then
people should work together for the common good. If there was anything they
needed, the poor of that era needed the rich to work toward the common good, by
giving to the poor what they

candidate for this study because of a previous right hip fracture due to fall, multiple
joint pains due to the diagnosis of osteoarthritis, thoracolumbar dextro scoliosis,
lumbar spinal stenosis, has sleep apnea, hearing and vision deficits. Since May 2016,
patient regularly participated in a once a week 45 minute Tai Chi program offered at
the local YMCA.
Outcomes: Despite the short period of an investigation conducted by this study,
improved scores on the balance test and measures (TUG, Tinetti, FFR, 6 minute
walk test) indicated that the patient s risk for falls is reduced. She demonstrates
good balance, good overall strength and flexibility enabling her to perform all
activities of daily living (ADL) and intermediate ADL with minimal effort and
decreased her fear of falling.

  • 1. Ucf Admissions Essay Crafting an essay on UCF admissions is a challenging task that demands careful consideration of various aspects. Firstly, the writer must thoroughly research the University of Central Florida and its admissions criteria, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of what the institution seeks in potential students. This involves delving into UCF's mission, values, academic programs, and any specific requirements for admission. Next, the essay should reflect the applicant's personal experiences, achievements, and aspirations. Articulating one's unique qualities and explaining how they align with UCF's values is crucial. However, striking a balance between self-promotion and humility is a delicate task. The writer needs to convey their strengths without coming across as overly boastful, all while demonstrating a genuine passion for joining the UCF community. The essay also requires careful attention to structure and coherence. Transitioning smoothly between different aspects of the writer's life and tying them back to UCF's offerings can be challenging. Additionally, maintaining a clear and engaging writing style while adhering to any word or page limits adds an extra layer of complexity. Furthermore, the UCF admissions essay necessitates meticulous proofreading to eliminate grammatical errors, awkward phrasing, and inconsistencies. As it represents the applicant's communication skills, attention to detail in language and presentation is crucial. In conclusion, writing an essay on UCF admissions demands a multifaceted approach, incorporating research, self-reflection, effective communication, and a keen eye for detail. Success in crafting a compelling essay relies on the writer's ability to synthesize personal experiences with the unique attributes of the University of Central Florida. For those seeking assistance with such essays or similar tasks, various resources are available, including online platforms like HelpWriting.net, where professional writers can provide support in creating well-crafted and tailored pieces to meet specific requirements. Identify 5 to 10 expected ongoing management tasks that might help the organization to prepare to administer the network operating system: Network and computer systems administrators are responsible for the day to day operation of an organization s computer networks. They organize, install, and support an organization s computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. Being a System or Network Administrator of a large computer network can be a difficult, and time consuming task. It is not as simple as people might think. Yes, once it is all running well, the life of a Network Administrator may seem easy, but when things go wrong, it can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Remember to always think of the future. Once it s all implemented and built, you can administer your network. When administrating a network, you have to ensure critical services have as close to 100% uptime, because if they are down, your users are going to hassle you all the time and that can be quite annoying with some users. When maintaining a network, you also have a number of other tasks to perform every day. These include: User management Adding, removing and apply security to user accounts and groups Hardware Upgrading hardware Replacing faulting hardware Software Providing support for applications and operating systems Ensuring critical data is being backed up Monitoring Monitor the system Checking logs Conducting security audits Support Attending to users help requests Writing documentation One of the hardest challenges in administrating a network is application support. You can very rarely just add a major application or a network service without any issues. Your network will need to support it. For example, you cannot host a website if you only have dialup internet. Other factors that are needed to be taken into consideration are: Does it need to be secured? Both physically and virtually; internally and externally Can the application be supported Are their people who know how to use the application? What risks will it introduce? Viruses, Hackers, privacy? Is there enough network capacity to
  • 3. Theme Between Frankenstein And Jekyll And Hyde The growth of scientific knowledge in the 1800s had a major impact on the arts in general, particularly literature, with the emergence of a trend for writers to explore the concept and creation of identity, relating it to the constraints of society. Frankenstein is shown to create the Creature due to his obsession with knowledge. Similarly, Jekyll creates Hyde due to scientific interest. DantГЁs is shown to create his identities, not due to the growth of science, but in order to become part of the development of culture in France after the events of the Revolutionary Wars. Creators are shown to have brought their creations into existence due to the progressions of society and culture, which displays the construction of new identities as an almost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is trapped by the guilt that he feels over William s death, Justine s execution, and the creation of the Creature. Whilst Jekyll and Frankenstein are trapped in the idea of their creations, Dumas presents DantГЁs as unable to act outside his own limits, becoming trapped by his own creation. The creation of Monte Cristo traps DantГЁs by forcing him to constantly adopt a different persona, although he appears less constrained by this than he was as DantГЁs: the development of the Count places him in a higher social standing than before, which allows him to act above the constraints of society. The novel s structure therefore does not create the idea that DantГЁs is trapped he appears to be liberated in his higher role. Despite this, his time in the Chateau d If causes him to become trapped by the idea of getting revenge. McKee states that people who are more vengeful are motivated by power... and the desire for status, in spite of the constraints of society, which fits with DantГЁs character after his time in prison. He becomes stuck in the idea of getting revenge and is unable to escape this once his plot has begun. Despite this, and unlike Frankenstein and Jekyll, DantГЁs is able to act outside the constraints of
  • 4. The Last Race Henry ford once said, Even a mistake may turn out to be the one thing necessary to a worthwhile achievement. Mistakes can make smarter, learning from them can help us not make the same mistake next time. They also make us wiser, but in the end mistakes do their job. They teach us, they make us stronger. Runninga raceis mentally and physically tough, but in the end finishing is always worth it. Not finishing a race is a big mistakethat I made. Okay girls on the line! , yelled Mr. Wesley, We re doing time trials for the 800, All the girls lined up, eager to see how they do, but nervous for reasons of their own. Mr. Wesley told us about how a waterfall start works and set us up. He told us how and what to do. On your marks, said Mr. Wesley, Get set. Go! We were off, some girls were faster than others. I was closer to the front and running fast. What I didn t realize was that I was going too fast. And as we got closer to the end of the first lap, I was breathing heavily and coughing, I was like a fish out of water. I was gasping for air. I walked off with a stitch in my side and slightly light headed. There had been girls in front of me, but they were doing just fine. As I walked off to get a drink of water people ran past, and I realized that I had been the only one to give up. I was wondering what would my parents think? But there was no way to undo what I had just done. How was track?
  • 5. Alfred Binet Alfred Binet (July 11, 1857 October 18, 1911) was a French psychologist who invented the first usable intelligence test, known at the time as the Binet test and today referred to as the IQ test His principal goal was to identify students who needed special help in coping with the school curriculum. Along with his collaborator ThГ©odore Simon, Binet published revisions of his intelligencescale in 1908 and 1911, the last appearing just before his death. Binet was born as Alfredo Binetti in Nice, then part of the Kingdom of Sardinia. He was the only child of a physician father and an artist mother. His parents separated when he was young, and Binet then moved to Paris with his mother. He attended law school, and earned his degree in 1878.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simon had nominated himself a few years before as Binet s research assistant and worked with him on the intelligence tests that Binet is known for, which share Simon s name as well. In 1905, a new test for measuring intelligence was introduced and simply called the Binet Simon scale. In 1908, they revised the scale, dropping, modifying, and adding tests and also arranging them according to age levels from three to thirteen. In 1904 a French professional group for child psychology, La SociГ©tГ© Libre pour l Etude Psychologique de l Enfant, was called upon by the French government to appoint a commission on the education of retarded children. The commission was asked to create a mechanism for identifying students in need of alternative education. Binet, being an active member of this group, found the impetus for the development of his mental scale. Binet and Simon, in creating what historically is known as the Binet Simon Scale, comprised a variety of tasks they thought were representative of typical children s abilities at various ages. This task selection process was based on their many years of observing children in natural settings. They then tested their measurement on a sample of fifty children, ten children per five age groups. The children selected for their study were identified by their school teachers as being average for their age. The purpose of this scale of normal functioning, which would later be revised twice using more stringent standards, was to compare

Lenders are only willing to fund loans when they have the knowledge that there is an ability to repay this principal debt at the end of the specific period and make interest payments periodically as they fall due. As the lenders, such as the banks, are concerned with earning returns and for a secured investment, they will in particularly look at the amount of assets В– cash and those that will soon be converted to cash, and to compare it against the liabilities falling due in the future ( Kloot et al., 1992, p. 28). For a В‘protection buffer for the bank should there be any losses in the entity that borrows, the bank will notice the amount of ownership capital (Kloot et al., 1992). Suppliers and other trade creditors use the financial information to rate the ability to achieve their objectives of maximising the В‘rate of return on funds supplied (Whittred et al, 2004). Thus, they will be interested in reports that show the ability to pay for the liabilities as they fall due, just as how lenders will search for these specific information. Governments and their agencies is another specific group of users interested in abstracting information with a different objective of monitoring and regulating an entity s activities, performance and profits, since this will affect the nation s employment level and aids in determining the taxation policies they should be implementing to best suit the given situation. • 11. Epic Poem Parody In the world of literature and poetry, it s typically not hard to find something written about a hero, or something heroic, like an epic. Epics are long poems, typically told orally in ancient times, about the adventures of a hero or heroine and their deeds. The Iliad should immediately come to the mind of any student proficient in western literature. Nonetheless, the themes and archetypes of these works known as epics are so well known, that they are even parodied, take completely out of context, and pasted on the wall for laughs. One of the most recognized parodies of this kind would be Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock. The Rape of the Lock is a story about taking a minor incident and satirizing it by making it into a huge and important epic of divine proportions. One might think of the phrase a tempest in a teapot , which perfectly describes this poem. In the poem, the main character, a girl named Belinda, has her hairunwillingly cut by a baron, and the struggle to regain her lost hair even pulls in mythical creatures like sylphs to describe this epic poem. Pope was actually asked to write something like this in order to reconcile two Catholic families, as the hair cutting fiasco was based off a real event that caused bad blood between the two aforementioned families. The man who requested the poem, John Caryll, hoped that if the two families could laugh about the whole thing, they would put the whole thing behind them and end their estrangement (Rippy, n.p.).

The fall and the beginning of this era had massive changes to the social and economic systems of that time. These changes began to occur because of the start of feudalism in both Europe and Asia during this time in hope to protect themselves from barbarians. At that time, the feudal system was the law of the land, and the way that the upper class maintained control over the lower class. To maintain this order the upper class provided protection to the lower class and in exchange, the lower class worked for the upper class. This was true in both Asia and Europe as they both had a social class system to make sure everything isn t going to chaos. Yet, these ideals weren t passed on between one another, more that each area adapted to that type of government based on the circumstances. Mind you, she was being manipulated by Del the whole time. Before the murder, Rita had drugged Rich so that Justin was able to steal the program. Her reason for betrayal was because he had been the one to break it off, leaving her the one with hurt feelings. I guess that never settles well with ferocious sirens like her. Dee came in soon after Rita and finished up the job by strangling Rich with a mouse cord and punching the daylight out of him. She drops the gloves underneath Hugh s bed and returns to the meeting. It continues until everyone has returned to their places. Dee, having lost all memory of her actions goes to ask a question from Rich. She screams and everyone runs over. And that s where my story begins. It was quite hard to piece together the parts but when it is done, it is refreshing! So when are those reporters going to show
  • 28. Negative Influence Of Disney In recent discussions regarding Disney s growing franchize, a controversial issue has been whether Disney s stories and products encourage children to follow strict gender roles. In this regard, some argue that Disney is wholesome and innocent, and only wants to make animated films that every family has the opportunity to enjoy. On the other hand, however, others argue that Disney is a corporation, whose ultimate goal is to spread their brand and make a lot of money. In the words of Michael Eisner, CEO of the Walt DisneyCo., We have no obligation to make history. We have no obligation to make art. We have no obligation to make a statement. Those images then begin to shape what we know and understand about the world, thus allowing the media to influence us. This issue is important because Disney has become a primary educational resource for children worldwide and as Henry Giroux points out, Disney is a teaching machine that not only exerts influence over consumers but also wages an aggressive campaign to peddle its political and cultural influence in the United States and overseas (Giroux xiv). It is often said that Disney s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of the most successful films that Walt Disney Studios has produced. According to Business Insider, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the tenth highest grossing film of all time in the United States. As a child, I spent no time considering the themes of gender roles and domestication of women in the film. However, while growing up, the impression that women cook and clean while men go out to work continued to stay with me. Though I concede that women are certainly a part of today s workforce, I still insist that in the shadow of traditional gender roles, there is a slightly forced sense of acceptance when a father mentions that he is a stay at home dad while his wife earns the family s income. It is this sense of discomfort that is a direct product from the conservative ideals that Disney promotes in its films. For example, in the Brothers Grimms story of Little Snow White, the dwarfs cottage was clean when Snow White first found

  • 30. Shame, Shame And The Loss What is shame and how different people cope with it. No one knows when shame appeared for a first time. Maybe in ancient times, maybe in 15th century, or perhaps since the dawn of man. The fact, which is known, is that the majority of people experience this feeling at least once in a lifetime. Shame is a strong feeling, which affects not only regular people, but also celebrities. We will see it in the article The Contestant by Daniel Alarcon, where he tells the story of the fame, shame and the loss as a result. Also, in this essay I will show the difference between shame experienced by regular people and celebrities, by analyzing articles from different authors and comparing behavior of stars and people. Shame is a feeling that controls us, scare, and influence human s behavior. Nothing matters when we talk about the feeling of shame: gender, religion, race, age, social status, fame. Before talking about different ways people go through shame, I d like to talk about what shame is. The word shame comes from an old English sceamu , Dutch schamen and German scham , according to the dictionary.com, and means a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. According to the article by Eric Posner called A Terrible Shame: Shaming is a form of social control. It occurs when a person violates the norms of the community, and other people respond by publicly criticizing, avoiding, or ostracizing him (2015). In other words,

Craig Cervantes has come up with a new revolutionary Patented process that stands to change the whole game of manufacturing Aged Spirts such as Bourbon, Scotch, Whiskey, Rums, Tequilas and Brandys as well as many others that are currently aged in Oak and wooden barrels. In a normal oak aging process the amount of surface area of the barrel is stationary and only has a finite amount of the actual oak coming into contact with the Spirts within. In re thinking the process the eureka moment came when instead of putting the spirits inside the barrel basically the barrel is turned inside out and the sprits now surround the Oak. In the process a negative pressure is applied which draws the alcohol into the wood at much higher rate and getting full penetration of the wood to maximize the drawing the flavors from the Oak. Another unique result of this method is that you can do much more of a customization of the actual ending flavor profile. In a traditional method the Charring of the barrel is ordered from the cooper when they have made the barrel. The charring on the inside of the barrel can be altered to end up with a different end result depending on how deep the charring is done. With this new method the wood is made into actual chips which are then toasted for a period of time at a high temperature and it changes the Carmelization profile depending on the extent of the toasting. You can now eliminate certain flavor notes or bring certain flavor notes into a finished product in a much more consistent level than was ever possible in the past. Another thing that can be done during the aging process is to introduce other types of woods in the finished flavor profiles. It can be done using woods

  • 35. Ana Mendieta Feminist Art Analysis The feminist art movement that emerged in the 1970s aimed to change the established narrative in art and give women a more prominent voice. The overall goal of this movement was to revolutionize the nature of art in a way that would transform society. Art produced during this era focused on experience and meaning over form and style. Thus, feminist artists wanted to include more representation of the female experience, as it was so severely left out of art, and recognize it as different but equally as valid as their male counterparts. Feminist art sought to elicit a response from its audience in order to get people to acknowledge and discuss feminist issues so that society as a whole could move toward change. By challenging the norms of patriarchal structure not only within the art community but in everyday life as well feminist art worked in parallel with the core objectives of feminism. A key component of feminism is confronting the oppression of women, and feminist artists addressed this in many forms, one of which was bringing light to violence perpetrated against women. This theme in feminist art helped to foster a dialogue that forced viewers to talk about violence against women and inspire involvement towards a less complicit society. Feminist art is particularly powerful because it worked to educate its viewers on the extent of this problem, as well as empower and heal victims. Ana Mendieta is a well known feminist artist whose art explores a range of themes

Dualist View On Identity Identity criteria are a main component of who a person actually is, central elements of how someone sees who they are and essential properties are urged to determine a person s identity. How philosophers view the soul is essential one s personality. The duelists believe that wherever the soul goes, that s where the mindgoes. The dualists view is based off of the fact that there is more to our brain and ourselves than just the physical aspect, the soulstrongly supports this claim. Materialism argues against the duelists because they only believe in the physical component of the world, in their eyes a soul does not exist. Lastly, in the psychological view, John Locke implemented memory into personal identity. Leibniz and Reid challenged Locke s ideas and came up with a reasonable conclusion. Personal identity can be defined is through identity theft, but it is the central elements of how someone perceives themselves to determine who they actually are. One is that a single soul, one and the same, has been with this body I call mine since it was born. The other is that one soul was associated with it until five years ago and then another, psychologically similar, inheriting all the old memories and beliefs, took over. A third hypothesis is that every five years a new soul takes over. A fourth is that every five minutes a new soul takes over Weirob views souls by being able to move from one body to the next without us knowing, the duelists strongly disagree with this theory.

It is an important factor in science because it can lead to new discoveries for cures or diseases. The studies of the nervous system helped lower death rates from heart disease, stroke, accidents, etc. The nervous system is a network of neurons (nerve cells that sends information to the brain to be analyzed. The neuron has two important structures called the dendrite and axon, also called nerve fibers. The dendrites are like tentacles that sprout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The impulse is then sent to another neuron, and the process repeats until the nerves are at rest. The effect of the signals depends on what the target is. If the target of the signal is a muscle cell, the effect might be a muscle contraction. The speed of the electrical impulse depends on the size of the nerve fiber. In small nerves, the rate it transmits impulses is from a half to two meters a second. The larger the diameter of the nerve fiber, the higher rate of conducting impulses. There is less electrical resistance in thick fibers. When nerve impulse jumps from one node (gaps in nerve fibers) to the next, it is called saltatory conduction. Saltatory conduction conducts faster because it contains an insulator that prevents leakage of currents. The rate of conduction is 2 to 120 meters a second. Not all nerves conduct impulse electrochemically. Some impulses jump from nerve to nerve, bypassing the synapse. Unlike other cells, once neurons are lost, they can t be regenerated. Fortunately, there are about 10 billion neurons and they have other cells to aid them in carrying messages to other nerves. But if nerves are severed, the nerve fibers can regenerate if the two ends are reattached precisely. However, restored functions may produce different actions because the nerves might not be connected to the right channel. There are three main parts of the nervous system: the central, peripheral, and autonomic

On May twenty second around 11:00 A.M, I was outside and ten miles from home, enjoying the ever changing weather of northern Colorado. The day started out clear, but grew increasingly cloudy and windy not at all unusual for spring in the Rockies. East in the distance, thunder drew my attention to the dark, ominous clouds traveling northwest, bellowing up into the sky as lightning danced in, through, around, and from cloud to cloud, indicative of thunder and hailstorms; I was thankful the looming and foreboding stormwas there and not over me. • 49. Symbolism in The Grapes of Wrath Essay example Symbolism in The Grapes of Wrath John Steinbeck is an author known worldwide for his compelling stories and novels. If there was anything they needed, the poor of that era needed the rich to work toward the common good, by giving to the poor what they
