Black Witch Research Paper
Introduction One of the most famous female superheroes, Black Widow, seems to stir up
controversy among viewers today. Coming from a distressed past, Natasha Romanova was handed
over to Russia to become an assassin. Through her training she required amazing skills, giving her
the name Black Widow. Some people believe that Black Widow cannot be classified as a superhero
because of her lack of supernatural powers, however, her talents go far beyond human expectations
and with the work she participates in, many classify her as a superhero because of her outstanding
performances.

In addition, she attracts female viewers, creating more fans of the comic book genre. Everyone
has different views on what it takes to be a superhero, however a hero in my eyes is saving
someone. Not only does Black widow save lives, but she takes on a responsibility to go up against
enemies that are much more powerful than humans. From the training in her past she has required
skills that are unlike anything the average person can do, once again raising her above normal.

Furthermore, the sum of the two lanes, Asia North America and Intra Asia, would account for

to consider for the future: Meli Marine has perceived an increased demand by its customers for
shippings in the Asia North America lane. The expectation shows that Meli Marine could meet a
drop in the growth of its lane in respect to the previous years while Asia North America lane
growth is expected to increase. Therefore, it is important taking in consideration a diversification.
Meli Marine has built a strong relationship with customer due to several factors described

Romantic Relationships and Self-Esteem
Attachment style could serve as an indicator of other aspects of romantic relationships including
intimacy, dating goals, and well being. It was hypothesized that individuals who associated with
having either a secure or dismissive attachment style would also elicit high levels of dating goals as
well as intimacy levels and would have higher levels of self esteem. It was found that attachment
style had an effect on self esteem as well as intimacy levels of individuals. However, interestingly
enough, attachment style did not appear to have an effect on dating goals. Individuals who
identified as being dismissing avoidant elicited higher levels of self esteem than those who
identified as being avoidant. It is be to noted that for data analyses looking at attachment style in
relation to self esteem, intimacy, and dating goals the anxious/ambivalent attachment style was
excluded due to insufficient numbers. This finding does not fully support the original hypothesis
due the secure attachment style not demonstrating to be associated with higher levels of self
esteem, as was predicted. Results also indicated that those who identified as having a secure
attachment style elicited higher levels of intimacy than those who identified as being either
dismissing avoidant or avoidant. There was a significant positive correlation between self esteem
and intimacy in support of the previous literature that found relationship maintenance behaviors, in
this case measured as intimacy,

Clausewitz Applicability to Non-State Actors Essays
Clausewitz s theories on war are still relevant today with the revisualization of non state actors on
the world scene. The purpose of this essay is to expand on the applicability of these theories in
today s modern warfare where non state actors play a larger, more global role. The study of theory,
especially translated theory, requires an open mind to determine its applicability to various and ever
changing situations. In the case of Clausewitz, many strategists do not view his theories as relevant
to today s wars involving a Nation State vs. non state actors. This is not true. The U.S. Army
Command and General Staff College teaches that the commander s intent is the most important part
of proper execution. Strategists need to look... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
War is often thought of as involving one state against another but most wars throughout time have
been fought between competing factions within a single state. Examples of this include Civil
Wars or Wars of Revolution within a Nation State where a group organizes itself, forms a military
or insurgent force and attempts to overthrow or separate from the primary Nation State.
Clausewitz briefly refers to non state actors or as he called them, people in arms in his book On War
. He saw this as a new phenomenon of warfare that steamed from the French Revolution under
Napoleon. Recognizing that Clausewitz was aware of non state actors, his definition of war can
be reviewed in the context of the time it was written. Clausewitz s definitions of war are suitable
to both State and non state actors. He defines war as: 1) an act of force to compel our enemy to
do our will; 2) a clash between major interests, which are resolved by bloodshed that is the only
way in which it differs from other conflicts; and 3) fighting, for fighting is the only principle in
the manifold activities generally designated as war. A Nation State raises a military to deter
aggression or to become the implementing force of aggression against its enemies. Similarly, non
state actors create militias or guerrilla bands to inflict their will on others. This act is as much a
demonstration of political or military strategy as that of a

Company A s re proportioned formula is sold under a private label Brand Y. Contribution to profit

Company A s objective is to maximize the total contribution to profit.
Three constraints limit the number of cases of Brand X and Brand Y that can be produced.
Constraint 1: The available units of nutrient C (n) is 30.
Constraint 2: The available units of flavor additive (f) is 72.
Constraint 3: The available units of color additive (c) is 90.

The other two extreme points must be solved using both line equations simultaneously: Of the five
extreme points, one point will provide the maximum profit contribution.
Solving for the extreme point where the color and nutrient lines intersect subtract the two equations:
1) 6X + 15Y = 90 Multiply this equation by 2 to eliminate the X variable
4X + 4Y = 30 Multiply this equation by 3 to eliminate the X variable
2) 12X + 30Y = 180
12X + 12Y = 90 Subtract equation two from equation one 18Y = 90 Y = 5 Substituting Y = 5 back
into the first equation
6X + 15(5) = 90 6X + 75 = 90 6X = 15 X = 2.5 Extreme point = (2.5,5)
Solving for the extreme point where the flavor and nutrient lines intersect subtract the two
equatitions:
1) 12X + 6Y = 72 4X + 4Y = 30 Multiply this equation by 3 to eliminate the x variable
2) 12X + 6Y = 72 Subtract equation two from equation one
12x + 12y = 90 6Y = 18 Y = 3 Substituting Y = 3 back into the first equation
12X + 6(3) = 72
12X + 18 = 72 12X = 54 X = 4.5 Extreme point = (4.5,3)

Huck Finn Criticism
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is a satire written by Mark Twain. The novel is based on
the series of adventures that the protagonist, Huckleberry Finn, and his companion a runaway
slave named Jim go on. In the novel, the protagonist, Huck Finn s mind is pulled in conflicting
directions by two compelling desires. The first time when Huck Finn is pulled in conflicting
desires is when he finds Miss Watson s runaway slave, Jim, at Jackson s Island. Huck knows that
if he doesn t turn the runaway slave in to his owner, People would call [him] a low down
Abolitionist and despise (him) for keeping mum. (Twain 43). Then later in the novel when he
tries to write to Miss Watson that he knew where Jim was, he doesn t because she d be mad and
disgusted at his rascality and ungratefulness for leaving her, and so she d sell him straight down
the river again. (Twain 212). The conflict within Huck Finn illuminates the meaning of the work
as a whole because during the novel Huck develops affection for Jim are through he is
challenging societal norms. When Huck tears up the letter when he remembers the time Jim said
that [he] was the best friend old Jim ever had in the world, and the only one he s got now. (Twain
214) The second moment during the novel when Huck Finn is pulled in conflicting desires is when
he leaves the murderers alone at the shipwreck to die. When they overhear, the murderers talking
they say that if we don t hunt up their boat and set her drifting down the

Female Polar Bears
Polar bears are a unique animal all their own. Male polar bears have a versatile diet and foraging
strategy compared to female polar bears, which is proving helpful with recent climate changes.
Throughout this paper, the foraging techniques of male and female polar bears will be discussed
along with increasing climate temperatures and how it is affecting polar bears. Male polar bears are
more versatile when foraging for food compared to female polar bears. Thiemann et al. (2011)
found that males would have a wider range in food selection due to the size of the adult male polar
bears giving it a greater opportunity to hunt larger animals. Therefore the males could better forage
because of more options available to them. Thiemann et al. (2011)... Show more content on

Since the ice is slowly breaking away, it is causing a negative effect for polar bears and their
foraging ability by not allowing an area for hunting of ringed seals (Elvin, 2014). Rockwell and
Gormezano (2009) talk about how the breaking apart of the ice disrupts the amount of time the
polar bears have for hunting seals which in return is causing the polar bears to travel to land
sooner. Rockwell and Gormezano (2009) state that as the polar bears are coming to shore
sooner, they are interfering with the hatching season of snow geese. Due to the polar bears
intruding on the nests, this gives the polar bears the opportunity to consume the offspring of the
snow geese and obtain any energy still required (Rockwell and Gormezano, 2009). Even though
the polar bears may not get the energy they need from seals, they are still able to get it by other
means because of the climate changing. Overall, male and female polar bears have their own
ways of hunting and foraging. Although the females have their physical limitations due to size or
their cubs, they still find a way to survive like the males do by feeding off carcasses and hunting.
Climate change is the other limiting factor that is changing the way polar bears forage, but is also
providing new ways as well through nesting grounds. As the world keeps changing, the polar bears
are changing as well to adapt and survive the best way

Dear Parents (and older siblings who think they are parents) of Rising Seniors,
This process will be long and arduous for you. In my opinion, this marks a transition in the
relationship with your sons. Prior to the process, you led and guided your child. After the process,
you will have to have faith that your child absorbed your teachings. The process is the shift from
one to another. It is the first time when parents must ceed control to their sons. You can make this
process a living hell for your son or you can make it a living purgatory. First, this is not your
future. Please do not live vicariously through your child. This is their choice. Your role is to assist
them in making their choice. To explain, I will provide a metaphor: Open your child s eyes, but do
not instruct them where to look. They will be receiving tons of information and you may need to
help them sift through it. Talk to them about your process/experience. Provide information, but try
not to sway them towards one school or another.

Gender Roles Essay
Gender Roles
Women and men have extremely different roles in society. These gender roles are very evident
in the way we see ourselves as women, which is based on how we have been treated in the past
and the actions in history we have taken toward gender equality. Katha Pollitt expresses her
feminist view in her work Why boys don t play with dolls.
Instead of looking at kids to prove that differences in behavior by sex are innate, we can look at
the ways we raise kids as an index to how unfinished the feminist revolution really is, and how
tentatively it is embraced even by adults who fully expect their daughters to enter previously male
dominated professions and their sons to change ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scott Russell Sanders brings forth to his male point of view concerning the sensations of guilt and
shame over their persecution of women in The Men We Carry in Our Minds…and How They
Differ from the Real Lives of Most Men. He says to a friend of his This must be a hard time for
women, they have so many paths to choose from, and so many voices calling them. He also says
growing up he really envied women because they got to do things like; shop, visit neighbors, and
run errands. Sanders goes on to explain… I didn t see, then, what a prison a house could
be…I did not realize, because such things were never spoken of how women suffered from
men s bullying.
Being a modern woman is definitely a double edged sword and has many complexities. Feminism
has taught us, that as women we are equal to men and we must demand and fight for that equality,
while the influence of gender roles makes us demand chivalry from men. We expect the same high
paying jobs as men; yet we demand that men do things like open doors for us. This could be
viewed as the result of many issues, but it all boils down to one simple concept: respect or actually
lack of respect. Throughout history we as women have been put into many roles the homemaker,
the bad driver, the weak ones, and

(40 MARK) Whereas sources 4 and 6 suggest that Henry had given all power to Wolsey, source 5
contradicts this argument, describing how the king had overall power. Source 4, an extract from
Scarisbrick Henry VIII, gives the impression that Henry gave all power to Wolsey, whilst he
hunted and jousted. Cavendish then states how the king had surrendered the cares of the state
into the Cardinal s hands. This gives the impression that Wolsey had the powers of the king and
was in charge of running the country efficiently. This is supported by source 6, where Henry asks
Wolsey to watch some of the key nobility as well as any others of whom you are superior. This is

The author Lotherington describes how government was dominated by...competing groups but
that overall the source of all power was the king. Lotherington argues that as Wolsey lacked the
intimate daily contact enjoyed by others within the court this meant Wolsey was not all
powerful. Also, the king also looked to his Privy Council and Gentlemen s bedchamber for
advice on issues, as well as Wolsey, which shows that Henry shared the power throughout the
court. Saying this however, Wolsey had had more power than others (as seen in the Elthem
Ordinances) where Wolsey halved the members of Henry s gentlemen of the Bedchambers from
twelve to six, and moved key advisors overseas. This suggests that although the power was
shared, Wolsey could still decide who the king received advice from, which indirectly could be
interpreted as Wolsey in total control. Also, although source 5 describes the power of the factions
Lotherington also states how Wolsey controlled the distribution of patronage which was essential
to gain power and status. This gives the impression that Wolsey had overall control of government,
and could either air or hinder the careers of the ambitious men. Saying this however, once the
amicable grant failed in 1525 Henry lost faith in Wolsey. This allowed the competing factions,
many of whom opposed Wolsey due to his power, to undermine his authority which eventually led
to his disapproval and eventually arrest for treason. This

Theme Of Stanley In A Streetcar Named Desire
In A Streetcar Named Desire , the characters of Blanche and Stanley are presented as opposing
characters in the book, and hence a lot of conflict and friction occurs between them. The
character of Blanche is an older character, from a rather wealthy background and lives in a
fantasy world in which she is still young and hasn t faced the truth. The character of Stanley,
however, is a more realistic and primitive character and can be viewed as Blanche s opposite.
Throughout the play, there is a constant battle between Blanche and Stanley for Stella. This is
shown at the beginning of the play when Blanche disapproves of Stella s home and what she is

Huge Divisions in Haiti Lead to Unrest
The ridged class, race and social structures in Haiti led to huge divisions in Haitian society and
unrest. The majority of the population were slaves and slavery played a massive role in the Haitian
economy and its abolishment had a massive impact. The events occurring in Europe, the French
revolution for example, led to the slave revolt and ultimately the independence of Haitiin 1804. The
rebellion in Haiti undoubtedly had an important role in world history.
Between 1756 and1763, the economy of Saint Domingue gradually expanded, sugar and coffee
becoming important export crops. The colony underwent rapid expansion during wars because
it brought about a lot of demand for resources. In 1767, it exported 72 million pounds of raw
sugar and 51 million pounds of refined sugar, one million pounds of indigo, and two million
pounds of cotton [1]. Saint Domingue became known as the Pearl of Antilles and became one of
the richest colonies in the 18th century French empire. By the 1780 s Haiti was producing forty
percent of all sugar and sixty percent of all coffee consumed in Europe. It was the jewel of the
French colonial economy and was vital for their strength.
In 1789, a total of 500,000 African slaves were present in Haiti, working on plantations and were
being ruled by 32,000 white colonialists [2]. There were three major groups in the Haitian society,
which were determined by social status and race. At the top of the social hierarchy were the Grands

Torvald s personal consumption of appearances shows how he treats his wife and home and
personal pride. Torvald s wife Nora is the center of several of the traits that classify him as a

She is like a doll to him, something that he can control and shape into what he wants. Nora is

Django Unchained Essay
For the movie assignment in this class I felt it was best to pick a film that I was very familiar
with. After careful consideration of a few of my personal favorite movies I choses the film Django
Unchained. I chose this film because of how the elements of it line up with this assignment in a
major way. This filmhas both elements of good and bad characters and it is also a heroic story of
good beating bad.
To properly understand this movie it is important to first list the characters by good and bad roles.
In the good rules were characters such as Django and Dr. King Schultz. In the bad roles were
characters such as Calvin Candie and Stephen. The correlation between these two sets of characters
helped the movie become what is in a drastic way.
Much like many movies in the Django Unchained the good character often had to do bad things to
help accomplish the goal at hand. A great example of this in Django happens when Dr. Shultz
offers to buy D Artagnan from Candie in order to save his life. In this moment Django stops Dr.
Shultz because this purchase may expose their real intentions for making company with Candie. In

case of Django Unchained this fact is no different. For example, one element that defined Dr.

OOHE Sedation and Drug Administration 90
Chemical sedation may be the only initial treatment option, until patient agitation is controlled (1

followed by ketamine and antipsychotic administration (4,8,26). Midazolam and ketamine are the

needed to restrain and control ExDS patients are perceived in a negative way in the public eye. The
management of ExDS patients in sedation causes controversy when observed by bystanders that do

Should Ionizing Radiation Be Used In Medical Diagnosis
INTRODUCTION
Radiation procedures used to diagnose medical conditions over the past century have grown from a
scientific curiosity to a pervasive, essential part of modern health care. Radiology originated with
ionizing radiation to diagnose human disease, however since discovering the physiological risks
associated with ionizing radiation, such as mutation/cancer, an ongoing controversy arises as to
whether ionizing radiation should be used in medical diagnosis. This investigation will analyze
each end of the argument continuum to determine if ionizing radiation should continue to be used
in medical diagnosis.
BACKGROUND PHYSICS
Ionizing radiation is any type of particle (neutrons, betas or alphas) or electromagnetic wave
(gamma rays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are different types of ionizing radiation, including gamma rays and x rays, which have been
known to cause cancer. Additionally, because x rays can kill living cells, when improperly used
they can cause severe burns, cancer, leukemia, and cataracts. They can speed aging, reduce
immunity to disease, and bring about disastrous changes in the reproductive cells.
Having few procedures employing ionizing radiation throughout your life may seem harmless, but
as the levels of doses increase, your risk of developing cancer rises at the same rate, according to
the LNT model. Figure 4 below exhibits potential medical consequences of certain periods of
exposure to ionizing radiation:
CONCLUSION
Given the evidence, it can be concluded that while there are risks that arise with ionizing radiation
in medical diagnosis, overall the benefits outweigh the risks, as doctors are able to diagnose various
health concerns that would go undetected otherwise. That being said, ionizing radiation should
continue to be used in medical diagnosis as they provide valuable medical procedures that can

Delegation Can Be A Slippery Slope For Any Manager
Delegation can be a very slippery slope for any manager, but it has become a necessary component
of many organizational management structures. While it can be an extremely effective
management strategy, many times it is approached incorrectly and thus falls short of expected
results. This is the case we see presented in the case studyfor this assignment. It seems that our
manager/delegator, Ms. Wilson, is looking to remove some items from her current workload in
order to facilitate more time to devote to her expanding supervisory duties that are not able to be
delegated. To her credit, she did take the time to establish a list of tasks contained within her daily
activities and reduce them to items that were able to be delegated. This is a crucial and key step,
as discussed within our text. While we don t know the extent of the items that may have been
included on this list, Ms. Wilson did narrow the initial delegation to a single task: gathering the data
and generating a monthly statistical report. It s at this point that I feel things went a bit astray in
the delegation process that eventually would lead to the failure of the process. First, just as
important and organizing and stratifying a list of tasks for delegation, is the process of organizing
and stratifying a list of potential candidates to perform those tasks. While we know in our case
study that Ms. Wilson chose George Peters for the task, we don t have any indication that she

Jack Carlisle was hired to restructure and organize IZL IT department in a growing financial
services organization that is engulfed with internal turmoil which saw a sudden replacement of the
company s CEO Chuck Hansen. Jack Carlisle as a straight shooter must assess the changes, both
tactical and strategic, in an environment in which IT was not well managed to align with business

The leadership within IZL Corporation has become complacent and not ready to tackle challenges
inherent in managing large public companies as well as dealing with developed financial
institutions and regulators. This is evident when Jack Carlisle asked the question How do you

(Austin, 2007). The company lacked a reporting mechanism that will otherwise provide important
information about the affairs and health of the business and IT infrastructure.
Business process remained manual as reporting was done in spreadsheet rather than utilizing
application designed and developed to produce efficiency and alignment with business strategy.
There seem to be no care for data protection as there were no policies, procedures and regulatory

matter to either executive managers of the IT staffs especially when you come to think of the
investment and cost associated with maintaining an IT shop.

for these inspections. These DRONEs can hover and operate below the conductor on the tower.
High definition, image stabilized cameras that provide details of hardware, insulators and mounting

Transmission providers are not the only energy providers using DRONEs; the generation side of

Wind and solar farms also require a great deal of inspection for maintenance. Turbines are complex,

By using a DRONE for these inspections, there is no need to place personnel in dangerous positions

Summary Of The Political Allegory In Macbeth
William Shakespeare s Macbeth is widely thought to be written in 1606. Three years after the
ascension of James VI of Scotland to the English Throne as James I and some months after the
discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, although the exact date remains impossible to establish. The
turmoil of the era can be attributed to the civil unrest. The narrative acts almost as a instrument to
subjugate an unruly citizenship by purging negative emotions such as anger, fear or anxiety. The
Jacobean era was defined by its conflict not only between two warring ideologies but by opposing
political stances. Unionist and nationalist stood against each other in opposition to the change of
power dynamics, religious upheaval caused Englandto be further divided. Shakespeare s use of
catharsis acts as a balm providing the proper purgation of negative emotion and therefore supressing
real rebellion in James rule.
Lauded as the most instructive tragedy in the world Macbeth follows the typical five act structure
of the era, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and dГ©nouement. The familiarity of
this structure would have clearly reinforced for a contemporary audience that Macbeth would
face his inevitable downfall in the final fifth act. His fall from the seat of power echoes the
traditional belief in the great chain of being and the divine right of kings. As a political allegory,
Macbeth in part serves as a warning to potential despots. As critic Stephen Greenblatt has
observed, There is always someone who escapes the murderer s net, someone who poses a threat
seeks to redress an injury or simply remembers what it felt like to be free and unafraid. Macbeth is
more interested in power than in loyalty. In each subsequent act, we find that Lord Acton s
observation: Absolute power corrupts absolutely is true. Macbeth eventually will stop at nothing
not even his own beheading, to hold on to power:
I will not yield
To kiss the ground before young Malcolm s feet,
And to be baited with the rabble s curse...
I will try the last.
The Scottish play is without doubt an allegorical tool, but it can be viewed from many differing
perspectives for example while the narrative can be viewed as a political statement it could

Difference between Postpartum depression and Postpartum Psychosis 1
When we speak of these two disorders what are we talking about and how are they different in the
relationship to woman? I will try to determine that in this brief essay. The first of two is
postpartum depression, this disorder consist of a disorder that occur in mothers that have giving
birth to a child. It occurs in some women after the first week of giving birth but can last longer for
several months.
It can be triggered by ways of a sudden hormone c hanges that happen after childbirth, miscarriage,
or stillbirth. Some important facts about this disorder are: If the symptoms of postpartum become
serious it may trigger the mother to have thoughts of hurting themselves by means of suicide or
even worst they may be considering hurting their child. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This disorder is much serious than postpartum because of the facts it causes the mother to have
mere thoughts of hallucinations and delusions (perceiving things differently from the way they are).
In a legal defense case these disorder can be used as a vital piece of evidence such as manner. If
the attorney feels that the individual cannot stand trial, they may in turn ask the judge for a plea of
insanity due to the mental capacity of the victim.
If I was the defense attorney trying to defend either one of these two cases. I would not bring it to
trial because of the fact it would be hard for me to prove to the court that individuals was in there
right state of mind when the incidents occurred. Furthermore it would take intensive amount of

Underground Railroads And The Underground Railroad
Underground railroads were a network of secret routes and safe houses used during the 19th
century slaves from African descent that were in the United States, and wanted escape to the
free states and Canada. The safe houses located on these routes were run by abolitionists and
people that were sympathetic towards slaves. The Underground Railroad reached its height
during the 1850s and 1860s. It s difficult to determine how many people actually traveled the
routes and made it to freedom, but it is estimated that somewhere around 100,000 slaves
journeyed along these paths. It is unfortunate however, that not many people of this 100,000
made it to freedom. There were just around 5,000 recorded cases of runaway slaves, and only
about 1,000 a year made it to safety during the peak of this time. The lives of many slaves were
horrendous during the early America s, so many of them sought refuge in the Underground
Railroad where they dealt with even dirtier, more dangerous conditions. However, this helped
thousands of slaves successfully reach freedom and helped create one of the biggest slave
movements of the 1800s. How it all began. In 1786, George Washington complained one of his
runaway slaves was helped by a society of Quakers, formed for such purposes. Before long, by

Soil Erosion Essay
Soil erosion is a natural event that affects all land. In farming and other agriculture, soil erosion
refers to the weathering away of topsoil by the natural forces such as wind, water or through acts
associated with farming such as tilling. Soil erosion can be something that happens slowly over
time or something that can happen in the blink of an eye causing severe land damage. This article
shows the cause and effect of soilerosion on farm and agricultureland.
Wind erosion occurs mostly in flat, dry areas with fine, sandy soil. Wind erosion is caused when
the wind moves topsoil from one place and deposits it to another. The speed and extent of the
wind depend on the amount of soil erosion done. Extreme wind erosion can cause severe amount
damage to land and crops. Wind erosion damages land and crops in many ways, one such way is
soil drifting. Soil drifting can lead to soil infertility which in turn can lead to poor crop growth
and production, especially in areas where wind erosion is very common. Continual wind erosion
in one area over time can change the texture of the soil by loss of sand, silt, nutrients and organic
matter. The removal of such matter from the soil makes it harder for the soil to hold moisture,
making it more difficult for crops to grow. Wind erosion also damages crops by burial of plants
and seeds or unearthing of newly planted seeds, resulting in expensive delays and making it
necessary to replant. Abundant woods and vegetation around

Abstract
Childhood maltreatment is a prevalent problem through out the world. As a child grows and
matures the brain continues to develop according its experiences. During this time sensitive periods
of development for different areas of the brain. A few areas that are of interest are the stress
influenced areas, which are at an increased risk for developmental problems when exposed to
maltreatment. The extra stress from such exposures can influence abnormalities throughout the
brain, which have been linked to structure changes with in the corpus callosum, anterior cingulate,
dorsolateral prefrontal, orbitofrontal cortex, and hippocampus, amygdala, and cerebellum, as well
as changes to stress related hormone systems. These structural changes are associated with an
increased risk of psychopathology and other life long educational and physiological risk.
In 2013 an estimated 679,000 children were victims of maltreatment and approximately 3.1 million
children received help from Childhood Protective Services in the United States alone. Abuse or
neglect can be categorized as maltreatment, which takes many different forms from physical, sexual,
or emotional abuse, and parental neglect. It is accepted that childhood maltreatment has lasting
effects as the victims grow into adults. One example of these effects is behavioral

Benefits Of An Electronic Health Record ( Emr )
Many patients do not fully understand the benefits as well as the drawbacks of an Electronic
Health Record (EMR); however, there are many of both. The first major benefit is that you, as a
patient, no longer have to remind the provider of previous information, such as orders or
allergies. This greatly increases efficiency in terms of patient visit times. Another benefit of an
EMR is that a doctor is much less likely to provide medication in error. For example, a patient
could currently be taking a daily dose of Aspirin, which is a blood thinner. If their doctor did not
know this medication was in use and prescribed them Warfarin, which is also a blood thinner,
they have a much higher risk of bleeding. With an EHR, this data is most likely stored in the
system, as long as the physician was aware of this. If they were, the system would alert them of
this, which would prompt the physician of this, and would not let them order the medication
without signing off, agreeing that they are aware of the conflict. There is always a chance for
human error, but with an EHR, this is greatly decreased. A negative effect of an EHR, which many
patients are aware of, is the change in visit. When paper records were in effect, the doctor could
visit with the patient face to face, but there is much more typing and checkboxes involved with
current visits, so the physician is now required to spend as much time on the computer as they do
with the patient. After interviewing George Olsen, Chief

Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Adversarial System
The adversarial and inquisitorial trial systems are the two most widely used in the world, both
operating in similar but different ways. The adversarial system is a system based on the notion of
two adversaries battling in an arena before an impartial third party, with the emphasis on winning.
There are five main elements of the adversarial system; the role of the judge, the role of the parties,
the role of legal representation, burden and standard of proof and the rules of evidence of
procedure. The inquisitorial systemis a method of legal practice in which the judge endeavours to
discover facts while simultaneously representing the interests of the state in a trial. In this system,
the judge is primarily responsible for resolving the case by searching for evidence and
questioning the witnesses as opposed to the adversarial system in which the judge is a passive
recipient. In this essay I will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both trial systems, look into a
case study of each and then conclude with which system I think is best.
There are many strengths to the adversarial trial system. Each party is empowered to discover
the truth, acting out of self interest to present the best case and win and are also in control of
their own case, which gives individuals access to the legal system. The basic democratic right to
defend oneself is upheld and the law of the land binds prosecution and defence equally. Each side

The White Lady Cries Wolf in Rosewood
Rosewood is a ghost town located in Levy County, Florida. In the early 1920s Rosewood was a
developing town with churches, schools, mills and a growing population. The town was a
majority black town, but that was not much of a problem until a white lady cried wolf . Fannie
Taylor, wife of James Taylor who worked at a mill nearby, would have an affair with a white
man. Fannie and her white lover got into a physical altercation that left Fannie with obvious
bruises. To prevent from having to tell James about the affair she told her neighbors that a black
man came and attacked her. As word spread throughout the town some people added to her story
that Fannie was also raped by the black man. The thought of miscegenation is what angered the
men and led to the Rosewood Massacre. During the first week of January, 1923 in Rosewood the
angry white men formed a search group for the black man who raped Fannie. The search group
murdered nearly every black man they saw and burned down a portion of Rosewood. In 1997,
John Singleton directed the movie Rosewood , which told the story of the Rosewood Massacre.
Overall the movie was great and included talented actors like: Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, Elise
Neal, and Esther Rolle. I personally was engaged with the film when it first started off, with the
intimate sex scene with Jewel and Mr. Wright. Sex is intriguing for almost anyone, so to start the
movie off with sex was a clever way to grab the audience attention.

As the topic suggests, my paper will be based on the early and present Leadership of the
Democratic Republic of Congo. This paper will be based on the effect these regimes had on the
social and economic standard of Congo. That is the focus will be on a timeline basis; how things
evolved from the colonial era of Congo, to the post colonial era and to the status quo.
My reason for choosing these topic is, Congo can be considered as developing state or under
developed state depends on what your personal view of the criteria s that qualifies a state as a
developing state or an underdeveloped state; unlike its western counterpart: example the United
States, Great Britain and European states. Now the question is; could the under development of
Congo be as a result in the poor leadership Congo have had in time past? Is Congo in the right part
to archiving infrastructural development and increasing the social economic status? Can the

Phillis Wheatley s On Being Brought From Africa To America

plays a great role in saving her race from their miserable fate of being enslaved. Phillis Wheatley
was a survivor and a leader. Her strong, determined personality naturally made her a role model

experience of being taken from Africa to be brought to America and how it affects her life as well

In the poem Wheatley talks about her conversion from paganism to Christianity which she refers
to as mercy . If she had not been brought to America, she would have never been guided to
Christianity that would give her patience and faith in God s ability to make her free. Knowledge
helps her realize that she is a human being like the rest of the white people and that everyone is
equal in front of God. She knows and learns that she deserves well treatment and decency of life
like any human being. Moreover, she becomes certain that her race is not inferior. Therefore, she

Maternity Leave In Ohio
The advantages are social and cultural, giving the mother time to destress and care for her baby,
while also taking the stress of earning money away. New mothers and families will gain the
security and safety of paid maternity leave, resulting in a better future for our state, our country.
An economical advantage is for the mothers and families who will be financially stable during this
time and without the worry of earning money they need to provide necessary, basic needs to the
newborn. By implementing this solution, lower and middle class families of Ohio are better cared
for and women get the rights they deserve. All in all, the solution will bring many positive changes
to our state. The disadvantages are mostly economical for businesses,... Show more content on

An alternative solution is that one company decided to create a program to both allow mothers
time with their child while at the same time being able to advance in their careers. Inkwell
implemented a program where mothers would work almost as if part time and still have paid leave.
They would spend about 20 hours in the work week working and the rest of the time they would
spend raising their newborn. Not only does this help the woman s career keep moving, but it also
helps her spend time properly caring for her child. The program allows for flexibility in their
schedules so they can focus on both work and family, without putting one in front of the other.
While this is progress for the issue, it only pertains to the one company. The rest of America needs
to get on board. Some of the advantages to Inkwell s solution include the family is being supported
financially, the mother can continue improving in her career, stress is taken off of the mother
because of the flexible schedule, and the company doesn t completely lose a worker. The
disadvantages of Inkwell s solution include that while the mothers are still working part time, the
employer would still need to hire and pay new employees to fill the spots while the mothers aren t
working. Another alternative solution was developed when Marisa Torrieri wrote a Forbes article
about how unpaid maternity leave could work, if the mother takes some things into consideration.
Since money is one of the main things that mothers are worried about by taking a leave, Torrieri
highlights ways to ensure the money doesn t become a problem. The first thing a mother can do
is take extra work at their job before the baby comes so they can be financially sound during the
leave. She also states that some employers may be willing to give an employee paid leave, but most
mothers are reluctant to ask. She mentions practicing saving

The Political Philosophy Of Niccolo Machiavelli And Socrates
Among the most well known and notorious philosophers, Niccolo Machiavelli and Socrates laid the
groundwork for western political philosophy and modern day politics. Though both lived through
times of political transition and war, the fragility of their politics, violence of their wars, and the
leaders they lived under influenced the development of their differing ideologies about the
governing of principalities.
From Machiavelli s experience, came, The Prince, a guidebook about the importance of self
preservation when leading a principality that was gifted to then governor of Florence Lorenzo de
Medici. The primary ideas shared, rely on committing acts of evil if they are justified with
reasoning. From Socrates lifetime came an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Socrates had operated under Machiavelli s leadership style, he would have escaped with Crito
and chosen self preservation and survival over making the right decision and being executed for his
actions
Another requirement of Machiavelli s Prince is a façade for the public that complies with their
every want and need. To the Prince, Machiavelli directed that everyone sees what you appear to
be, few experience what you really are (The Prince, Chapter XVIII). Behind the mask and
façade, the Prince must do whatever is necessary to remain in power and benefit oneself, even
if that means doing something morally wrong. Creating a façade for the public eye and
deceiving one s citizens, to Socrates, would be considered immoral as it does not promote the
common good, but helps hide the Prince advancing his individual ideologies. Morality is the
philosophical distinction between what is right and what is wrong. In terms of leadership,
Socrates believes that leaders should use morality to make the right decisions regardless of the
outcome, as the moral decision will always benefit a society as opposed to risking a wrong
choice. Socrates idea of morality and doing what is morally correct despite the outcome is
absolutely opposite to a façade of benevolence. Due to this promotion of deception within a
principality, Socrates would not agree with Machiavelli s style of leadership.

Our Service Chapter 1 Summary
a. Chapter 1, Our Service, establishes the need and purpose for armies in history as well as present
day conflicts through four subsections: the land domain, land operations, landpower for the nation,
and the Army s three strategic roles. The roles are: preventing conflict, shaping strategic
environment, and winning decisively in combat. This chapter identifies the land domain as the
stage on which most significant conflict is waged. Militaries shape conflicts by how effective or
ineffective they can exert influence on land based populations. Land operations consist of
confronting adversaries in complex environments through use of lethal and nonlethal force. The
Army is required to conduct offensive, defensive, and stability operations. Landpower for the nation
communicates the need for a land based force to influence foreign population and protect American
interests. The last section defines the mission and pinpoints the importance of sustaining a standing
and trained Army. b. Chapter 2, Our Profession, discusses the essential aspects which make the
Army a unique profession. It highlights that trust is required both inside and outside of the
profession for the Army to fulfill its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Disadvantages Of Globalization
Is everything that is sold in America are made in other countries? Not everything, but most of it.
Don t we have enough resources? Yes, we do. Don t we have enough labor? Yes, we do. So why
are we using foreign labor for manufacturing products that will be sold in USA. Globalization is
the way recourses, businesses are expanding globally. Globalizationstarted to become real popular
after World War 2, when small and large businesses started to grow and expand. Globalization, the

Not only expanding internationally benefits the corporation, it also benefits the country that business
is opened in. Cultural development is also a benefit from globalization. While expanding
internationally corporations gain new experience in dealing and doing business with people from
other culture and other backgrounds. It s a great way for people to know each other and to
develop successful business relationship. While company expand globally, it has to get used to
new culture, new ways of running the business, and the most successful companies are that ones
who doing business not their way but the way it will be successful in the foreign country. On the
other hand, globalization has impact on job insecurity. Job insecurity means that people losing
their jobs, and it s all because all the jobs are going to the lower cost manufactures and lower
labor cost. Specialists in the IT, financial, scientific industries are losing their jobs due to
outsourcing to other countries where doing business is a lot more cost efficient. Many research
was made to understand why does globalization matter so much in our modern world. The
answer in easy, it matters a lot. According to Jacinta Enerio, economist for the BPS politics,

Bottlenose Dolphins
Bottlenose dolphins produce a extensive variety sounds that are divided into two categories: pulsed
emissions, i.e. echolocation clicks and burst pulsed sounds; and non pulsed signals, i.e. whistles
(Caldwell et al., 1990; Janik, 2013) (Figure 1:2).
Clicks are high frequency and directional sounds that are used to detect, discriminate and recognize
objects in the environment, including potential preys (Caldwell et al., 1990; Janik, 2013). These
clicks are used to locate/discriminate an object based on the returning echo, and the system is
known as echolocation or biosonar (Griffin, 1958). Bottlenose dolphins produce high frequency
broadband clicks with dominant frequencies generally higher than 50 60kHz (Au, 1993).

(1990), signature whistles are stereotyped and individually distinctive whistles, recognizable by the
frequency modulation pattern of the contour (Janik et al. 2006), and may be the most commonly
whistle type produced by an animal in isolation (Caldwell et al., 1990).
David and Melba Caldwell were the first investigators postulating that signature whistles may
represent a unique vocalization, different for each dolphin. These stereotyped whistles seem to be
stable for a long time (Sayigh et al. 1990, 2007; Bruck, 2013; LuГs et al., 2015), suggesting that
these signals may be involved in individual identification (Caldwell Caldwell, 1965; Tyack 1986;
Caldwell et al., 1990; Sayigh et al., 1990; dos Santos et al., 2005).
In isolation, signature whistles may represent 80% to 100% of whistles emissions (Caldwell
Caldwell, 1965; Caldwell et al., 1990; Janik Slater, 1998; Sayigh et al. 2007; Janik et al., 2013).
Signature whistles are probably developed through vocal learning during the first year of a
dolphin s life, and may remain stable throughout an individual s lifetime (Caldwell Caldwell, 1979;
Caldwell et al. 1990; Sayigh et al. 1990; Janik Sayigh,

Analysis Of The Bishop Of Durham, Nicholas Thomas Wright,...

Christian Character and Virtue After You Believe was written by the Bishop of Durham, Nicholas
Thomas Wright, or N.T. Wright. He was born on December 1, 1948 in Northumberland, United
Kingdom and became a very wellknown British New Testament scholar. (Wikipedia)
N.T. Wright s book, After You Believe, is mainly devoted to discussing how Christians need to act
after they have received and believed in Jesus Christ. It is like discussing Part 2 of Christianity, with
Part 1 simply being belief, and Part 2 being what is to follow. This book heavily revolves around
Christian character, virtue, and how it is formed. N.T. Wright describes this as ...the transforming,
shaping, and marking of a life and its habits (page 7) As Christians, many may ask what the end
goal is. What is the purpose of living a life with virtue or good character? N.T. Wright presents
three different options of what this might look like, and why it is important. The first option
puts heaven as the final goal. This goal can only be achieved by faith in Jesus Christ because of
his death and resurrection. We work towards this goal in what we do in our everyday lives. The
second Christian model that Wright talks about is the goal of working towards God s kingdom
through our own everyday activities. This way of living was demonstrated to us by Jesus up until
his death on the cross. As Christians we need to live a life anticipating God s coming kingdom on
earth by

  • 4. Romantic Relationships and Self-Esteem Attachment style could serve as an indicator of other aspects of romantic relationships including intimacy, dating goals, and well being. It was hypothesized that individuals who associated with having either a secure or dismissive attachment style would also elicit high levels of dating goals as well as intimacy levels and would have higher levels of self esteem. It was found that attachment style had an effect on self esteem as well as intimacy levels of individuals. However, interestingly enough, attachment style did not appear to have an effect on dating goals. Individuals who identified as being dismissing avoidant elicited higher levels of self esteem than those who identified as being avoidant. It is be to noted that for data analyses looking at attachment style in relation to self esteem, intimacy, and dating goals the anxious/ambivalent attachment style was excluded due to insufficient numbers. This finding does not fully support the original hypothesis due the secure attachment style not demonstrating to be associated with higher levels of self esteem, as was predicted. Results also indicated that those who identified as having a secure attachment style elicited higher levels of intimacy than those who identified as being either dismissing avoidant or avoidant. There was a significant positive correlation between self esteem and intimacy in support of the previous literature that found relationship maintenance behaviors, in this case measured as intimacy, ... • 8. Clausewitz Applicability to Non-State Actors Essays Clausewitz s theories on war are still relevant today with the revisualization of non state actors on the world scene. The purpose of this essay is to expand on the applicability of these theories in today s modern warfare where non state actors play a larger, more global role. The study of theory, especially translated theory, requires an open mind to determine its applicability to various and ever changing situations. In the case of Clausewitz, many strategists do not view his theories as relevant to today s wars involving a Nation State vs. non state actors. This is not true. The U.S. Army Command and General Staff College teaches that the commander s intent is the most important part of proper execution. Strategists need to look... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... War is often thought of as involving one state against another but most wars throughout time have been fought between competing factions within a single state. Examples of this include Civil Wars or Wars of Revolution within a Nation State where a group organizes itself, forms a military or insurgent force and attempts to overthrow or separate from the primary Nation State. Clausewitz briefly refers to non state actors or as he called them, people in arms in his book On War . He saw this as a new phenomenon of warfare that steamed from the French Revolution under Napoleon. Recognizing that Clausewitz was aware of non state actors, his definition of war can be reviewed in the context of the time it was written. Clausewitz s definitions of war are suitable to both State and non state actors. He defines war as: 1) an act of force to compel our enemy to do our will; 2) a clash between major interests, which are resolved by bloodshed that is the only way in which it differs from other conflicts; and 3) fighting, for fighting is the only principle in the manifold activities generally designated as war. A Nation State raises a military to deter aggression or to become the implementing force of aggression against its enemies. Similarly, non state actors create militias or guerrilla bands to inflict their will on others. This act is as much a demonstration of political or military strategy as that of a ... Male polar bears have a versatile diet and foraging strategy compared to female polar bears, which is proving helpful with recent climate changes. Throughout this paper, the foraging techniques of male and female polar bears will be discussed along with increasing climate temperatures and how it is affecting polar bears. Male polar bears are more versatile when foraging for food compared to female polar bears. Thiemann et al. (2011) found that males would have a wider range in food selection due to the size of the adult male polar bears giving it a greater opportunity to hunt larger animals. Therefore the males could better forage because of more options available to them. Thiemann et al. (2011)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the ice is slowly breaking away, it is causing a negative effect for polar bears and their foraging ability by not allowing an area for hunting of ringed seals (Elvin, 2014). Rockwell and Gormezano (2009) talk about how the breaking apart of the ice disrupts the amount of time the polar bears have for hunting seals which in return is causing the polar bears to travel to land sooner. Rockwell and Gormezano (2009) state that as the polar bears are coming to shore sooner, they are interfering with the hatching season of snow geese. Due to the polar bears intruding on the nests, this gives the polar bears the opportunity to consume the offspring of the snow geese and obtain any energy still required (Rockwell and Gormezano, 2009). Even though the polar bears may not get the energy they need from seals, they are still able to get it by other means because of the climate changing. Overall, male and female polar bears have their own ways of hunting and foraging. Although the females have their physical limitations due to size or their cubs, they still find a way to survive like the males do by feeding off carcasses and hunting. Cavendish then states how the king had surrendered the cares of the state into the Cardinal s hands. This gives the impression that Wolsey had the powers of the king and was in charge of running the country efficiently. Lotherington argues that as Wolsey lacked the intimate daily contact enjoyed by others within the court this meant Wolsey was not all powerful. Also, the king also looked to his Privy Council and Gentlemen s bedchamber for advice on issues, as well as Wolsey, which shows that Henry shared the power throughout the court. Saying this however, Wolsey had had more power than others (as seen in the Elthem Ordinances) where Wolsey halved the members of Henry s gentlemen of the Bedchambers from twelve to six, and moved key advisors overseas. This suggests that although the power was shared, Wolsey could still decide who the king received advice from, which indirectly could be interpreted as Wolsey in total control. Also, although source 5 describes the power of the factions Lotherington also states how Wolsey controlled the distribution of patronage which was essential to gain power and status. This gives the impression that Wolsey had overall control of government, and could either air or hinder the careers of the ambitious men. Saying this however, once the amicable grant failed in 1525 Henry lost faith in Wolsey. This allowed the competing factions, many of whom opposed Wolsey due to his power, to undermine his authority which eventually led to his disapproval and eventually arrest for treason. This ... While it can be an extremely effective management strategy, many times it is approached incorrectly and thus falls short of expected results. It seems that our manager/delegator, Ms. Wilson, is looking to remove some items from her current workload in order to facilitate more time to devote to her expanding supervisory duties that are not able to be delegated. To her credit, she did take the time to establish a list of tasks contained within her daily activities and reduce them to items that were able to be delegated. This is a crucial and key step, as discussed within our text. While we don t know the extent of the items that may have been included on this list, Ms. Wilson did narrow the initial delegation to a single task: gathering the data and generating a monthly statistical report. It s at this point that I feel things went a bit astray in the delegation process that eventually would lead to the failure of the process. First, just as important and organizing and stratifying a list of tasks for delegation, is the process of organizing and stratifying a list of potential candidates to perform those tasks. • 28. Summary Of The Political Allegory In Macbeth William Shakespeare s Macbeth is widely thought to be written in 1606. Three years after the ascension of James VI of Scotland to the English Throne as James I and some months after the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, although the exact date remains impossible to establish. The turmoil of the era can be attributed to the civil unrest. The narrative acts almost as a instrument to subjugate an unruly citizenship by purging negative emotions such as anger, fear or anxiety. The Jacobean era was defined by its conflict not only between two warring ideologies but by opposing political stances. Unionist and nationalist stood against each other in opposition to the change of power dynamics, religious upheaval caused Englandto be further divided. Shakespeare s use of catharsis acts as a balm providing the proper purgation of negative emotion and therefore supressing real rebellion in James rule. Lauded as the most instructive tragedy in the world Macbeth follows the typical five act structure of the era, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and dГ©nouement. The familiarity of this structure would have clearly reinforced for a contemporary audience that Macbeth would face his inevitable downfall in the final fifth act. His fall from the seat of power echoes the traditional belief in the great chain of being and the divine right of kings. As a political allegory, Macbeth in part serves as a warning to potential despots. As critic Stephen Greenblatt has observed, There is always someone who escapes the murderer s net, someone who poses a threat seeks to redress an injury or simply remembers what it felt like to be free and unafraid. Macbeth is more interested in power than in loyalty. In each subsequent act, we find that Lord Acton s observation: Absolute power corrupts absolutely is true. Macbeth eventually will stop at nothing not even his own beheading, to hold on to power: I will not yield To kiss the ground before young Malcolm s feet, And to be baited with the rabble s curse... I will try the last. The Scottish play is without doubt an allegorical tool, but it can be viewed from many differing perspectives for example while the narrative can be viewed as a political statement it could ... Underground Railroads And The Underground Railroad Underground railroads were a network of secret routes and safe houses used during the 19th century slaves from African descent that were in the United States, and wanted escape to the free states and Canada. The safe houses located on these routes were run by abolitionists and people that were sympathetic towards slaves. The Underground Railroad reached its height during the 1850s and 1860s. It s difficult to determine how many people actually traveled the routes and made it to freedom, but it is estimated that somewhere around 100,000 slaves journeyed along these paths. It is unfortunate however, that not many people of this 100,000 made it to freedom. There were just around 5,000 recorded cases of runaway slaves, and only about 1,000 a year made it to safety during the peak of this time. The lives of many slaves were horrendous during the early America s, so many of them sought refuge in the Underground Railroad where they dealt with even dirtier, more dangerous conditions. However, this helped thousands of slaves successfully reach freedom and helped create one of the biggest slave movements of the 1800s. How it all began. In farming and other agriculture, soil erosion refers to the weathering away of topsoil by the natural forces such as wind, water or through acts associated with farming such as tilling. Soil erosion can be something that happens slowly over time or something that can happen in the blink of an eye causing severe land damage. This article shows the cause and effect of soilerosion on farm and agricultureland. Wind erosion occurs mostly in flat, dry areas with fine, sandy soil. Wind erosion is caused when the wind moves topsoil from one place and deposits it to another. The speed and extent of the wind depend on the amount of soil erosion done. Extreme wind erosion can cause severe amount damage to land and crops. Wind erosion damages land and crops in many ways, one such way is soil drifting. Soil drifting can lead to soil infertility which in turn can lead to poor crop growth and production, especially in areas where wind erosion is very common. Continual wind erosion in one area over time can change the texture of the soil by loss of sand, silt, nutrients and organic matter. The removal of such matter from the soil makes it harder for the soil to hold moisture, making it more difficult for crops to grow. Wind erosion also damages crops by burial of plants and seeds or unearthing of newly planted seeds, resulting in expensive delays and making it necessary to replant. Benefits Of An Electronic Health Record ( Emr ) Many patients do not fully understand the benefits as well as the drawbacks of an Electronic Health Record (EMR); however, there are many of both. The first major benefit is that you, as a patient, no longer have to remind the provider of previous information, such as orders or allergies. This greatly increases efficiency in terms of patient visit times. Another benefit of an EMR is that a doctor is much less likely to provide medication in error. For example, a patient could currently be taking a daily dose of Aspirin, which is a blood thinner. If their doctor did not know this medication was in use and prescribed them Warfarin, which is also a blood thinner, they have a much higher risk of bleeding. With an EHR, this data is most likely stored in the system, as long as the physician was aware of this. If they were, the system would alert them of this, which would prompt the physician of this, and would not let them order the medication without signing off, agreeing that they are aware of the conflict. There is always a chance for human error, but with an EHR, this is greatly decreased. A negative effect of an EHR, which many patients are aware of, is the change in visit. When paper records were in effect, the doctor could visit with the patient face to face, but there is much more typing and checkboxes involved with current visits, so the physician is now required to spend as much time on the computer as they do with the patient. • 39. Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Adversarial System The adversarial and inquisitorial trial systems are the two most widely used in the world, both operating in similar but different ways. The adversarial system is a system based on the notion of two adversaries battling in an arena before an impartial third party, with the emphasis on winning. There are five main elements of the adversarial system; the role of the judge, the role of the parties, the role of legal representation, burden and standard of proof and the rules of evidence of procedure. The inquisitorial systemis a method of legal practice in which the judge endeavours to discover facts while simultaneously representing the interests of the state in a trial. In this system, the judge is primarily responsible for resolving the case by searching for evidence and questioning the witnesses as opposed to the adversarial system in which the judge is a passive recipient. In this essay I will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both trial systems, look into a case study of each and then conclude with which system I think is best. There are many strengths to the adversarial trial system. Each party is empowered to discover the truth, acting out of self interest to present the best case and win and are also in control of their own case, which gives individuals access to the legal system. The basic democratic right to defend oneself is upheld and the law of the land binds prosecution and defence equally. Each side gets equal access to exactly the same evidence and ... Fannie Taylor, wife of James Taylor who worked at a mill nearby, would have an affair with a white man. To prevent from having to tell James about the affair she told her neighbors that a black man came and attacked her. During the first week of January, 1923 in Rosewood the angry white men formed a search group for the black man who raped Fannie. The search group murdered nearly every black man they saw and burned down a portion of Rosewood. In 1997, John Singleton directed the movie Rosewood , which told the story of the Rosewood Massacre. Not only does this help the woman s career keep moving, but it also helps her spend time properly caring for her child. The program allows for flexibility in their schedules so they can focus on both work and family, without putting one in front of the other. While this is progress for the issue, it only pertains to the one company. The rest of America needs to get on board. • 47. Bottlenose Dolphins Bottlenose dolphins produce a extensive variety sounds that are divided into two categories: pulsed emissions, i.e. echolocation clicks and burst pulsed sounds; and non pulsed signals, i.e. whistles (Caldwell et al., 1990; Janik, 2013) (Figure 1:2). Clicks are high frequency and directional sounds that are used to detect, discriminate and recognize objects in the environment, including potential preys (Caldwell et al., 1990; Janik, 2013). These clicks are used to locate/discriminate an object based on the returning echo, and the system is known as echolocation or biosonar (Griffin, 1958). Bottlenose dolphins produce high frequency broadband clicks with dominant frequencies generally higher than 50 60kHz (Au, 1993). Burst pulse sounds are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (1990), signature whistles are stereotyped and individually distinctive whistles, recognizable by the frequency modulation pattern of the contour (Janik et al. 2006), and may be the most commonly whistle type produced by an animal in isolation (Caldwell et al., 1990). David and Melba Caldwell were the first investigators postulating that signature whistles may represent a unique vocalization, different for each dolphin. These stereotyped whistles seem to be stable for a long time (Sayigh et al. 1990, 2007; Bruck, 2013; LuГs et al., 2015), suggesting that these signals may be involved in individual identification (Caldwell Caldwell, 1965; Tyack 1986; Caldwell et al., 1990; Sayigh et al., 1990; dos Santos et al., 2005). In isolation, signature whistles may represent 80% to 100% of whistles emissions (Caldwell Caldwell, 1965; Caldwell et al., 1990; Janik Slater, 1998; Sayigh et al. 2007; Janik et al., 2013). Signature whistles are probably developed through vocal learning during the first year of a dolphin s life, and may remain stable throughout an individual s lifetime (Caldwell Caldwell, 1979; Caldwell et al. 1990; Sayigh et al. 1990; Janik Sayigh, ... He was born on December 1, 1948 in Northumberland, United Kingdom and became a very wellknown British New Testament scholar. (Wikipedia) N.T. Wright s book, After You Believe, is mainly devoted to discussing how Christians need to act after they have received and believed in Jesus Christ. It is like discussing Part 2 of Christianity, with Part 1 simply being belief, and Part 2 being what is to follow. This book heavily revolves around Christian character, virtue, and how it is formed. N.T. Wright describes this as ...the transforming, shaping, and marking of a life and its habits (page 7) As Christians, many may ask what the end goal is. What is the purpose of living a life with virtue or good character? N.T. Wright presents three different options of what this might look like, and why it is important. The first option puts heaven as the final goal. This goal can only be achieved by faith in Jesus Christ because of his death and resurrection. We work towards this goal in what we do in our everyday lives. The second Christian model that Wright talks about is the goal of working towards God s kingdom through our own everyday activities. This way of living was demonstrated to us by Jesus up until his death on the cross. As Christians we need to live a life anticipating God s coming kingdom on earth by ...
