Over The Carnage Rose Prophetic A Voice By Walt Whitman
What power dose a particular word or phrase have in a poem? The power a word or phrase has is
very powerful. I will be giving you an example from a poem. The poems name is Over the
carnage rose prophetic a voice written by Walt Whitman. The particular line that I will be using
is If need be, a thousand shall sternly immolate themselves for one. (7, Walt). This phrase is
important to the structure of the poem because the main point of the poem is about how a voice
is speaking over a war zone filled with dead bodies. This connects to where in the line it says
thousand shall sternly immolate themselves. Where this is an important to the poem because
immolate is to sacrifice. Scenes the poem is about the dead on a war zone it s like saying

The, Native American, And Whatever White My Dad
When I think of the word Ethnicity of course I immediately think, Oh I m Mexican, Native
American, and whatever white my dad is. While I do have a darker brown skin I was not raised in
the traditional way it s assumed I was. I am only a quarter Mexican, so I was not raised in a
Mexican household. The reality of it is that I was raised in a small rural town, this particular tiny
town goes by the name of Hotchkiss, CO. I suppose I would say my real ethnicity is Rural
Conservative American.
Out of the 900 people that live there the two main career choices are ranching and coal mining.
The town of Hotchkiss is a predominately white town and it is full of conservatives. I was raised
by my Democratic mother (who really is a Republican) and my Republican father, and when I was
four my next door neighbors began taking me to their Baptist church every Sunday.
While I hated living in a small town and I will never live in one again, small town thinking and
values have become a part of who I am. The sense of community in a small town has caused me
to genuinely care about everyone around me. While I do not consider myself to be conservative,
many of my political beliefs do tend to lean toward the conservative side of seeing things. I believe
Americans are ignorant, and I am not ignorant enough to believe that I am just as ignorant as
everyone else; but, I think that being American means standing up for what s right, and not backing
down on my own opinions just because someone

Human Behavior And Human Development Essay
While the study of human genes is increasingly improving our understanding of human
development, it is not solely our genetic makeup that determines how we will develop. Humans as a
species share many universal traits, which make it easy to disregard the large influence the
environment plays in development. Throughout the lifespan, the environment presents itself in
many different positions that help determine and shape humandevelopment. By looking at the
influence of the environment and geneticson human development we are able to create a more
holistic view of this process and gain a better understanding of the complexities involved within it.
Through this comprehensive lens, it is easy to see how probabilistic human development offers the
greatest amount of explanation, unlike the predetermined views of genetic influence in the past,
and that environmental influence has an extensive impact on human behavior. Throughout human
history, there have been many shared processes and factors related to development. Evolutionary
psychologyis a branch of psychology that has developed based on the idea that humans have shared
behavioral traits. Demonstrations of these shared human traits can be seen in fixed patterns. These
fixed patterns, such as yawning and attachment, are unlearned behaviors ever present in human
development, allowing us to overestimate the power of genetics on human development as a whole
(Newman Newman, 2016). While fixed patterns do have a largely

Persuasive Essay On Animal Shelters
Animal Shelters have been the source of many rescued domesticated animals. Receiving about 8
10 million animals a year, they are important in keeping stray and abandoned dogs and cats off
the streets in order to give them a safe and loving new home. According to the American Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 47% of dogs and 42% of cats are rehomed
(ASPCA.org). However, what happens to the other 53 58% of those animals that were not given a
new home? Well, many of the animals left will be in the shelter trying to gain the attention of a
fitting new owner excited with the thought of adopting them. However, after many months, the
shelters become overpopulated with the number of dogs and cats that enter the compound leaving
the shelter no choice but to remove the older animals by way of euthanasia. Euthanizing these
animals are a way to decrease the surplus population roaming the streets and in the shelters.
Although euthanasia may be called for in some cases, such as old age or terminally ill animals, it is
inhumane to euthanize perfectly healthy ones for the sake of space and controlled population sizes.
Overpopulation is one of the top reasons for animals being euthanized in shelters. About 1.5 million
sheltered animals are euthanized annually due to overpopulation, illnesses, or behavior
(ASPCA.org). In order to prevent the amount of euthanizations in shelters, domestic animal
populations have to be controlled to some extent. There are several

Kurt Cobain s Life
Drugs have taken and changed the lives of many, even people who seem invincible, our idols.
Many famous musicians and actors have lost their lives due to drugs or alcohol. Three examples
would be Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland, and Layne Staley, three of the most famous musicians of
their time. Each of their lives were taken by drugs, and some recently. They were all born in the
same year of 1967, but all died at different times. Kurt Cobain, singer and guitarist of Nirvana, was
27 when his heroin addiction caused him to take his own life. Throughout his teenage years, he
experimented with prescription drugs and marijuana. He began using a drug known as Hash in
1984, which was popular in his hometown of Aberdeen, Washington. In the summer of 1986, just
two years after Kurt first tried... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His death is still shrouded in mystery, whether it was a real suicide, or a murder covered up to
look like to a suicide. Either way, his death silenced the people of his generation. He was an
inspiration to millions of people across the world, and his death came as a shock. Scott Weiland,
former singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, struggled with substance abuse
throughout his whole life. When he was young, he showed an interest in singing. In high school
he formed his first band Mighty Joe Young, which eventually became Stone Temple Pilots. They
were one of the biggest bands of the 90 s. Scott first got into his drug habits in high school, and
was sent to rehab when his parents found drugs in his room. In 1995, after his band s second
album release, he was arrested for drug possession. This brush with the law did little to quell
Weiland s appetite for drugs (Scott Weiland Biography). At one point, he lived in a Los Angeles
hotel, shooting up heroin with Kurt Cobain s wife, Courtney Love. Weiland s personal addictions
impacted his band s ability to tour in 1996, so he subsequently parted ways with the band for a time.

How Jesus Christ Fulfilled The Covenants God Made With...
Introduction
Throughout the history of the world, God has been working to bring humanity back to him. Due to
the loss of constant communion in the fall, God set forth multiple promises to eventually establish
his eternal Kingdom, the New Testament, is the culmination of these promises. The Gospels are the
most specific in how Jesus Christ fulfilled the covenants God made with Abraham and David.
More importantly he is the fulfillment of the new covenant, which washes away sin and brings
humanity back into communion with God. What is modeled in the Gospels is reaffirmed in
Acts, by the way the church is to function according to the culmination of the Covenants. Acts
begins to reveal the great mystery that is the inclusion of the Gentiles in God s covenant. Paul s
Epistles take the culmination a step further and defend the idea that the fulfillment of God s
covenants does not just affect the people of Israel, but the Gentiles as well. The General epistles
teach that the people are no longer bound by the mosaic covenant since the New Covenant was
fulfilled via Jesus Christ. Yet practice of the law is still an important factor of the Christian life
style even if superseded by the New Covenant. Revelation shows that covenants are leading up to
the lord s victory and salvation of his people. The sins of the Jews and Gentiles are washed away by
Jesus the blood of the lamb so in reality the battle is already won because of the New Covenants
fulfillment in Jesus. It is clear from

Biological, Sociological And Developmental Effects On A Child
Over the past decade, play has been the focus of many researches due to its biological,
sociological and developmental effects on a child. Play is understood as a basic human motivation
and a phase for individual development and of cultural assimilation and construction which leads to
a specific view on childhood. Playis sometimes opposed with serious work and learning activities
which is not true because play is an important arena in a childs life. Play is significant for a child s
growth, improvement of the child s welfare and play is also the child s legitimate right. Some
people still get confused between the meaning of play and just having fun. Play, in similar words, is
the universal language of childhood. It is through play that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Play is one of the aspects through which children learn the norms of the society they belong to,
its rules and values. Play is considered as a medium of learning in early childhood and many
researches that are conducted to study play are observational researches which observe children
within early childhood educational settings and also by interviewing their parents, caregivers or
educators. There is an influence of the cultural background and dynamics of the society a child
belongs to on the child s play. Play, is thus, a universal aspect of childhood but it differs from
child to child and across time and space. Play, also transcend species, infant or young animals are
also indulged in an activity which is similar to child s play. (Society, n.d.)
A number of things are necessary to be present for this universal aspect, play, to occur and be
sustained. One of these things is time and space which is frequently associated with poverty and
its absence. If the child belongs to a poverty stricken family or area then there are high chances
that he is involved in labor, whether inside the house or outside, and the chances of him being
involved in any type of play is minimized. Space for play is another issue which has been
witnessed due to the growth in cities which led to a diminution in the availability of space, in
general and has thus made space an issue too. One issue related to play and its universality that has
been brought up in

Metamorphosis, By Franz Kafka
Society can be cruel to people who do not fit in and art can help to break the pain.
Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, is a reflection of his unsettled relationship with his family and
society. Franz Kafka creates a hideous creature, a monstrous insect, to show how he feels in his
reality. Gregor, in Metamorphosis, is a tool for Kafka to psychoanalyze his perceived deficiency in
society and communicate his contemplations on his meaning in life.
Franz Kafka s estrangement from his family and society started early in his life. Franz Kafka was
born on the third of July, 1883 in Prague. Kafka was the oldest child with three younger sisters and
two brothers that died as infants. Prague was home to Czech people but at that time was
controlled by the Austro Hungarian Empire. Kafka grew up in a German speaking Jewish
family. Not many German Jews lived in Czech at that time and this alone may have played a part
in his separation from society. He was also not very involved with Judaism. He knew all the
Jewish customs but later considered himself a socialist atheist (Price, par. 4). Kafka s first
language was Czech but after the age of six he went to a German speaking school and he became
more fluent in the German language. Franz Kafka s father, Herman Kafka, was a wealthy
merchant and was very repressive of Franz. Kafka s mother Julie Lowy Kafka was not able to
protect him from his father. She proved unable to mediate the estrangement between her brusque
dominating husband and her

An Eco Friendly Practice For Your Lawn And Garden
It seems so ridiculous that gardening would be an area where we need to be environmentally
conscious. After all, if you are growing green things, it should be an eco friendly practice by
default, shouldn t it? Unfortunately, mostly for the sake of modern convenience, there are now
so many chemicals tied up in gardening either to make your veggies pest free and fruitful or to
make certain your flowers are weed free and extra large that we almost negate the positive
ecological impact of growing plants. Fortunately, there are ways to have it all well fertilized, bug
less plants, and a clear, green conscience. All you need to do is use all natural, environmentally
sound products for your lawn and garden. The first product you want to check out is a little thing
called diatomaceous earth. Frankly, it has so many benefits, it is almost like cheating. It is both
a pest control agent and a growth medium, and it retains water and nutrients, while assisting with
drainage. The primary drawbacks are the potential for harm to helpful insects and the dangers of
inhalation, depending on which type you buy (though these are no different than the risks with
chemical insecticides). If you visit your local nursery or big box home improvement store, they
should be able to help you find some easily. It may sound like a joke, but if you are looking for
natural, eco friendly fertilizer with little or no odor, TerraCycle s Worm Poop does an excellent job
and you can feel good about it for

Idealism In W. D. Valgardson s The Novice
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the cost becomes prohibitive. William F. Buckley Jr.
Here, William F. Buckley Jr. sends a warning: that idealism itself is fine, but idealism which
threatens reality can have prohibitive consequences. W.D. Valgardson s short story, The Novice,
shows a sailor reflecting on his life, and his fate, as he and what s left of his crew wade in Alberta
s Lake Narrows, waiting for sunrise. In WD Valgardson s, The Novice the reader should come to
the realization that idealism may be dangerous when it skews the truth, but that it is ultimately
necessary in the face of misfortune, so one may maintain hope in the face of challenging obstacles.

The Theoretical Approach Of Planning For Emergencies And...
This paper will briefly examine the theoretical approach to planning for emergencies and disasters
with an overview of the use of Worst Case Scenario Philosophy and speak to the importance on
why the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) can enhance individual organizations and the
community to more efficiently and effectively mitigate an emergency and disaster. It is a mutually
shared understanding that that we as a nation, an industry and the community need to be better
prepared to lessen the effects of crisis in order to protect our citizenry. Unfortunately it is easier
said then made actionable. While cooperation of agencies throughout the community is not
guaranteed regardless of the validity of the vulnerabilities, coordinated community and agency
specific planning is required for a complete mitigation and recovery for crisis response. This
enables the entire community to address worst case scenarios, obtain the buy in of all public
private organizations to enable inter agency cooperation, and facilitates clear communication by
providing the responders the ability to understand actions taking place, or that could take place, as
a result of asset dependencies throughout all operational periods of a disaster response. A mass
causally response is one of the most significant elements of crisis mitigation. Worst Case Scenario
The reality of preparing for the management of emergencies and disasters is a complex issue that

Critical Whiteness in Education
Theoretical Framework of the Study
As seen in the previous literature, empirical research in the last twenty years reveals the positive
student outcomes associated to service learning. However, as Susan Jones (2002) argues, student s
ability to actively participate in all aspects of their service learning experience depends on the
intersection of the student s own background. . . , developmental readiness for such a learning
experience, and the privileging conditions that put a college student in a community service
organization as a volunteer in the first place (p. 13). Accordingly, different complexities may
emerge when students engage with ill structured, complex social issues present in the community
service settings typically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frankenberg (1993) describes Whiteness as multidimensional: First, whiteness is a location of
structural advantage, of race privilege. Second, it is a standpoint and place from which white people
look at ourselves, at others, and at society. Third, whiteness refers to a set of cultural practices that
are usually unmarked and unnamed (p. 1). Although Whiteness has intangible systems of
oppression, inequality, and unearned advantage that are not necessary seen, heard, or felt;
nonetheless, they reproduce and support the idea of White as the ultimate form of racial identity.
Butin (2005) examines the dynamics of Whiteness, and the extent to which student resistance is
conceptualized as occurring due to dominant students rejection of the exposure and analysis of
these same hidden and/or explicit social, cultural, and academic structures and practices of the
school that privilege and sustains White, middle class norms (p. 117). As such, addressing the
dynamics of social problems through readings, classroom discussions, and community services
visits may confront students with their conditions of privilege, as well as with new epistemologies
that do not necessary resonate with students previous knowledge of the world; therefore, students
may feel uncomfortable, uneasy and unwilling to discuss social issues.

Inequality Vs Income Inequality
America having redeemed its democracy after the conclusion of the civil wars, it becomes
regrettable that it betrayed that it was going to reveal the same with the concentration of wealth.
However, how much it is inevitable to avoid inequality of income and wealth, the level of wealth
among those at the high ranks of the economic status points a potential threat to equality among all
the citizens of a nation. The issue is not whether income inequality is bad or good, the question of
contention is, and at what point does this inequality start to pose a threat to the equality of
opportunity and above all the democracy of a nation. America had reached that tipping point of
inequality that had never been seen during the Gilded Age of the 19th century. With inequalities as
a result of income levels, it was complicated to correct the dysfunctions of an economy. The office
of the Congressional budget pointed out that between 1979 and 2007, during the beginning of great
recession the income gap after payment of the transfers and federal taxes tripled; there was an
increase in the after tax. While this was happening, the medium household income was
continuously falling.
At the beginning of the 19th century, wealth had become highly concentrated than income. The
modern trend of wealth concentration posed a threat to the pillars of the American society, the
economy, the ideal of equal opportunity and above all the democracy of the United States of
America. With the concentration of wealth, there was the likelihood of consumers having low
purchasing power thus many businesses were likely to lack incentives for hiring workers. The rich
were spending small proportions of their income than the average class and the poor; this led to the
concentration of wealth at the top of the economy. Through this concentration of wealth at the top,
there was hampering of the upward mobility (Mehrotra, 25 61). Generally, low upward mobility is
a correlation of high rates of inequality. With the decline in the middle class and the dropping of the
medium household incomes, there were very remote possibilities of upward mobility. The
relationship between democracy and the then widening inequality was totally over shown in the
United States.

In American society, the common stereotype is that the father has the role of the dominant figure
in the household. Sylvia Plath and Sharon Olds may come across as two seemingly different
poets, however, they are really quite similar, especially in their driving forces behind their writing
styles in poetry. The lives of Plath and Olds are both expressive of the realities of a father
dominated family, in which both of these poets lost their fathers at a young age. This is significant
because both poets have faced a similar traumatic event that has had everlasting effects on their
adult womanhood, which is reflected in their writings. For both these woman, their accesses to

Both poems make allusions to Greek deities as a metaphor for the common perception that the
father is the dominant one in a family. The numerous attempts of the speaker s infatuation with The
Colossus with restoring the fallen statue and Olds comparison of alcoholism to the Greek deity,
Saturn both vividly symbolize that a father s decisions whether its life or in death, has its
consequences. In, addition it is for a young girl growing up to have a father figure in their lives
and how the absence of a father figure can impact a young woman s life tremendously.
Plath touches upon the highs and struggles of her life growing up, such as the tragic loss of her
father, which is reflected within her work. Sylvia was confused and angry about her father s
death. Plath expresses her hate for why her father is gone, hence why she became depressed and
mentally ill because deep down inside she felt like she could ve prevented his death. Plath always
felt like a victim to the male dominated society, especially when it came down to her father. In
The Colossus , the speaker tries in vain to piece fallen Colossus of Rhodes back together and to
make it speak to her. This depicts her broken relationship with her father for which she was trying
to piece back together as well. The Colossus was extremely tall statue of the Greek figure Helios.

The foreign opportunities for training should be maximized and it can be observed that the lack of
employment and application of sailors/officers those who got the foreign trainings. Hence their

employ them in a proper way. As an example, there are Ship Diving Officers (SDO) who unable
to complete Clearance Diving Officer (CDO) course and they are having enough knowledge to
conduct the diving operation. But there are no more applications of themselves and finally they
will have to go for another specialization/long course because of the age barrier. Furthermore, I
myself completed SDO course in Bangladesh and I am a PADI International Diver who retain the

everybody wants what they can t have seems to be very true when it comes to The Last of Mr.
Norris by Christopher Isherwood and Boredom by Alberto Moravia. Dino s need to possess an
unobtainable young girl in Boredom is similar to the desire of Mr. Norris, and the communist party
he is affiliated with, to take control away from the Nazi occupied German Government. Despite
these two stories being over completely different subjects, the authors display a common theme
throughout both. The theme of which being that trying to possess something, or somebody, that is

Both Cecilia and the government in Germany were unobtainable though. Dino would never be
able to fully possess her, as he wanted to, because Cecilia s not fond of anybody (Moravia 311).
As for the government in Germany, it was unobtainable for Mr. Norris due to the power of the
Nazi party in control. In the process of Mr. Norris trying to gain control of the government and
Dino trying to gain control of a woman, they both took very irrational actions in their attempts.
Dino not only resorted to stalking Cecilia, he also asked her to marry him. After he was denied,
Dino s actions became even more absurd when he tried taking her life by strangling her and later
when he drove [his] car into a plane tree (Moravia 315). Dino was not the only one to take
outrageous measures in an attempt to gain control of something though. Mr. Norris also made
many irrational decisions when trying to take government control away from the powerful Nazi
party. For instance, Mr. Norris put William in danger when he used him as a decoy for a shady
business deal between a police agent and German politician. Mr. Norris also makes the drastic
decision to flee Germany after finding out that there are police watching his every

Biography Of Alexander Hamilton
Alexander Hamilton was born on January 11th, 1757, in a spot in the Caribbean that it s now
called Charlestown, Saint Kitts and Nevis. His childhood was what you consider not ideal .
When he was ten years old, his father had left his mother, Rachel Fawcett Lavien. Alex then got

Alex recovered after sometime, but his mother died. He and his brother, James Hamilton Jr., were

While he didn t have a very strong hand in writing the Constitution, he did influence it. With John
Jay and James Madison, they wrote the Federalist, later changed to The Federalist Papers. It was a
compilation of essays defending the new Constitution. John Jay wrote five essays, James Madison
wrote 28, and Hamilton wrote the other 51 essays. As you know, when George Washington was
elected president in 1789, he appointed Alex as the first treasury secretary. While he was the
treasury secretary, he butted heads with many of the cabinet members. Hamilton believed that the
Constitution gave him authority to create economic policies that strengthened the government. He
had the federal government assume state debts, instituted a federal system for tax collection and
would help the United States establish credit with other nations. People were outraged by his
suggestions, until a dinner with James Madison. They made a compromise on June 20, 1790.
Hamilton agreed that a place near Potomac would be made into the Capital of the Nation, and
Madison said that he would stop blocking Congress. Alexander stepped down from the position in

Influence Of Slavery On American History
Influence of Slavery on American History
From the first 20 slaves brought to Jamestown in 1619, the abolishment of slavery through the 13th
amendment to the United States Constitution, slaves and slavery have played an important role in
the establishment and economic growth of the United States of America.
From its beginning, slavery has divided America on its pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.
Separating from its own oppressor on the words That all men are created equal, that they are
endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights... while still holding these same beliefs and
rights from men and women that were not white. Close to 40 percent of the population in the

The North profited from the sale of slaves as well as from the mass production of cotton and
tobacco that was grown in the south from the enslaved labor. Both of these crops had an
unquenchable demand with roaring profits both locally and when exported. When Eli Whitney
invented the cotton gin, the demand for cotton skyrocketed. Many southerners believed that the
cotton enterprise depended on more slave labor with bigger crops and more fertile land which
pushed farmers to acquire more land. Thus expanding the railroad to have more railroad mileage in
place by 1860 than any region outside of the northern United States.(Drescher)
With this lust for more land, opened the issue of whether new states would allow or disallow
slavery. This argument was tested each time new land was acquired, but it originated in 1820
with the Missouri Compromise. Under the Missouri Compromise, Maine was to enter the union
as a free state while Missouri entered as a slave state. The reasoning behind this was that the
balance would remain equal between free and slave states, however, slavery was prohibited in all
land lying above the 36, 30 latitude line. We must also look to the compromise of 1850when
California wanted to join the Union. This compromise allowed California to enter as a free state,
prohibited slave trade in Washington DC, and also introduced a stricter fugitive slave law. Under
this stricter law, citizens, whether

Root Canal Retreatment Research Paper
If you are experiencing in a tooth that has previously undergone a root canal treatment, you may
need a second root canal. A second root canal on the same tooth is referred to as a retreatment.
What Prompts A Retreatment
The vast majority of root canal treatments are successful the first time through. However, a small
percentage of people who have a root canal done will need to the that same tooth treated again at
some point down the road. The causes behind a retreatment can vary, but are generally caused by

If you have secondary roots or if your roots look very small and curved, an endodontist will have
the specialized tools required to take care of your tooth.
What Happens During A Retreatment
A root canal retreatment is very similar to a root canal treatment. The area around the affected
tooth will be numbed and dental dam will be placed in your mouth in order to stabilize the surgery
location.
The biggest different between a retreat and a regular root canal occurs during the next step. Any
crowns, posts or filling material that have been installed in your tooth will need to be removed.
The first time your tooth was worked on, there should not have been any crowns or posts to
remove. This adding process makes the retreatment process a little longer than the original process.
Next, any additional material that may obstruct the dentist from doing their job will be removed
with a very small tool that vibrates loose any additional tooth debris. Then, your dentist will use
very small tools in order to clean out all of your roots. If you have any curves or twists in your
roots, or any secondary roots, your dentist will use specialized tools to clean out these sections of

The Impact Of Neuropsychology On The Christian Faith
The Christian faith is pluralistic, meaning, There [are] as many ways to love God as there [are]
Christian souls (Salzman, 2000, p.77). This reaches greater complexity when considering the
impact of neuropsychology on the Christian faith. People experience God in a plethora of ways,
but what about seemingly brain induced experiences? Salzman (2000) describes the journey of
Sister John, a nun at the Carmelite convent in Los Angeles. She experiences headaches that
develop into deep spiritual episodes, which her doctor later informs her, are the symptoms of her
recurring seizures. Sister John has temporal lobe epilepsy and her doctor explains that it, tend[s]
to be more psychological (Salzman, 2000, p.68). Sister John s spiritual episodes were presumably
caused by her medical condition. So, were all of her spiritual encounters with Goda lie? Was her
faith a fabrication? The implication of these questions can be quite troubling for the Christian
faith. Is God simply a manifestation created within our minds? Objects exist because they exist
within the realm of our senses. If we cannot trust our senses, then what truly exists outside of
ourselves? Sister John describes a memory of her being drawn into service at the convent. She
attended an early morning mass on Christmas Day when something odd happened. If one looks
closely, she describes experiences of depersonalization, Instead of feeling trapped in a theater
showing a bad movie, she saw herself as the projector

Australian Political System Analysis
The Australian political system consists of many different levels of power. While the government is
set up with a system of checks and balances, the power of different people, agencies, and
organizations depends on rules, laws and ultimately the Australian Constitution. There are many
different components to the Australian political system. They range from the Queen, exercised by
the Governor General, all the way down to the people. The people could be the most important part
of the political system, without the people there is no Australia. But there are two components to

The two most important functions to the Australian political system are the House of
Representatives and the Senate. Paraphrased, Section 51 of the Australian Constitution says, The
Parliament of Australia (formally named the Parliament of the Commonwealth) is made up of a
total of 226 people popularly elected to the Senate and House of Representatives to represent the
interests of Australians and to make laws for the peace, order and good government of the nation.
(Commonwealth of Australia) Their responsibilities also include: drafting legislation, creating an
administration, and being a representative to the political system for the people of Australia. Their
main duty is representing the people who elected them. They must act in the best interest of the
electoral district they live in or fear losing their seat at the next election. This is how their power is
mediated. Unlike the P.M. whose loyalty is to the party than the nation (to some degree), Parliament
must be loyal to their constituents. If they are not doing a good job or make mistakes they could
lose their next election. This gives the voters of Australia the opportunity to form government, in a
different context. While the majority party creates the government, they have to first be voted to
Parliament by the people. This form of mediation is very appropriate. Unfortunately, it can be

Comparing The Scottsboro Trials And The Salem Witch Trials
In 1931, in Scottsboro, Alabama, nine young black men were charged with raping two white
women. They were tried, convicted, and sentenced to death. While the death sentences were
overturned by the Alabama Supreme Court, the Scottsboro boys still served an average of ten
years in prison for a crime that they didn t commit. While the Scottsboro trials took place over
200 years after the Salem Witch Trials, the circumstances surrounding both cases are extremely
similar. One way in which the Scottsboro Trials and the Salem Witch Trials are similar is that in
both cases, the accused parties were eventually proven to be innocent. In the Scottsboro Trials, all
of the nine accused young men were later found to be innocent. In April 2013, the governor of
Alabama officially pardoned the Scottsboro Boys and exonerated them of any wrong doing. In
1711, the colony of Salem restored the rights and innocence of those accused during the Salem

Two Kinds of Interpretations in Amy Tanв
Ђ™s Short Story Two...
Often times mothers can be pushy, annoying, and a bit overbearing but in the long run they always
just want what is best for their child. Everyone wants their child to be the best, most popular and
overall number one. In Amy Tan s short story Two Kinds we see this type of fame hungry mother.
The short story is about a Chinese familywho lost everything. The motherhad lost her entire family
full of children except for the one in the story. With the belief you could be anything you want in
America (Tan 305) in mind the mother set off to find what her child can do. This ultimately will
resort in disappointment for both the mother and child, as they do not share the same goals
throughout the short story. My initial personal interpretation of this piece is that the mother wants
to live vicariously through her daughter. This was proven throughout the story time and time again.
Through further thought, different literary techniques, and class discussion I became aware of an
alternate interpretation of the story. This is that their are two kinds of daughters and the way the
mother daughter relationship could be. Both interpretations have many examples to support them
and the story can truly be analyzed in more then one way. The mother in the story is sensibly upset
about what has happened in the past in China. After losing everything she wanted the best for her
daughter, but could this possibly mean she wanted it for herself as well. It seems the mother might

Atrial Septal Disease
Atrial septal defects (ASDs) are a deficiency in the wall between the right and left atrium of the
heart (5). ASDs account for 10% of all congenital heart defects(19) and 30% of those diagnosed in
adulthood (20). Definitive diagnosis is by transthoracic echocardiography, though signs of an ASD
can be found on physical examination, electrocardiography and chest radiography (21).
There are four types of ASD, classified according to their position in the interatrial septum (Figure
2):
Ostium secundum defects which represent 80% of all ASDs and are located in the region of the
fossa ovalis
Ostium primum defects which are located in the lower portion of the septum, adjacent to the
atrioventricular (AV) valve
Sinus venosus defects which are located at the junction of the superior/inferior caval veins

Exertional dyspnoea and fatigue are the most common symptoms. These are caused by a left to
right shunt, when the connection between the two atria allows blood to pass from the left side of the
heart to the right. This occurs because the pressure in the left side of the heart is naturally higher
than the right. The extra blood from the left atrium overloads the right atrium and the right ventricle,
causing right heart dilation, and subsequent heart failure (5). If left untreated, patients can develop
reversal of the ASD, resulting in a right to left shunt; this is known as Eisenmenger s syndrome.
Other complications include atrial tachyarrhythmias or stroke (21, 22).
A patient is indicated for closure if they experience symptoms, irrespective of age, to reduce
subsequent morbidity and mortality (21). To reduce this risk, closure should be considered in
patients at risk of a paradoxical embolism, such as patients undergoing pacemaker implantation or
professional divers (5,

Food Deserts Essay
Hundreds of thousands of Chicagoans live in what s known as a food desert. A food desert is in
an area of focus that is short on access to fresh meat and produce. These areas are usually over
populated with packaged and processed foods, which are not always healthy. They also have a
significant amount junk that you can easily find in convenience stores and fast foodrestaurants.
What exactly qualifies a neighborhood to be part of a food desert? Food deserts usually have a
bunch of blocks without a corner grocery store. In a more severe case an entire neighborhood, or
a whole bunch of neighborhoods do not have a mainstream grocery store. A mainstream grocery
stored would be a grocery store like a Jewel, a Whole Foods, or an Aldi, where ... Show more

These neighborhoods lack all kinds of resources that they need to be able to access these grocery
stores, such as, money and transportation. There s nothing here in the community for us to shop

vacant lots and boarded up shops in Pullman into groceries stocked with fresh foods. Rev. James
Meeks called Pullman a food desert because, the closest store with fresh produce is a Jewel that
is located at 11730 S. Marshfield Ave., which would be a few miles from some families homes
depending on where their homes are located. In our neighborhood, the only thing you can buy is
something greasy in a bag, (Schorsch, 2009) said Rev. Meeks. Meeks wants the Chicago
aldermen and Chicago s union leaders to allow Walmart to build a store on the South Side, home
to some of the city s poorest communities. According to the book The Meaning of Sociology ,
Having high rank means that one can influence the economic and political order r more regularly
than can those who hold low rank or lives in poverty. (Charon, Vigilant, 67) A neighborhood with
wealthier income would be able access the resources that they need daily for food, versus a family
of lower income who does not have the money to have access to the sane

The Cold War Was Not A Normal Conflict
The Cold War was not a normal conflict. The US and the USSR never fought. However, they
often supported different warring sides. Nevertheless, we can say that the Cold War is a political,
military and media conflict, which has a large effect over the lives of thousands of innocent
civilians. The Cold War is a battle between totalitarianism and democracy, battle for a new world
turn between two opposing systems. This essay will look at three different theories that explain
why the Cold Warcame to an end. First will be discussed the Revisionist and Gorbachev leadership
theories. Second, this paper will look at the Triumphalist theory by the Realist school of historians

And this thesis can be supported even in 1976 when the Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev states that
We Communists have to string along with the capitalists for a while. We need their agriculture and

for ending the Cold War, or in other peacefully ending the Cold War with foreign relationships.
When Gorbachev came into power, unlike other leaders before him, he proclaimed a new way of
thinking based on glasnost (openness) and perestroika (restricting). This meant greater political
freedoms and less Soviet interception in the press and society as a whole. It also meant changes in
the economy such as allowing for a greater market and allowing greater foreign interactions .
Under Gorbachev the Soviets signed the INF treaty, SALT, and declared the goal to eliminate all
nuclear weapons by 2000. Gorbachev withdrew it forces from Afghanistan, and did not intervene in
any East European countries. Gorbachev pushed to end of the Cold War by not acting in any

The Intellectual Life of Miguel Hidalgo Y Costilla
The Intellectual Life of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla
Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, also referred to as the father of Mexican independence, began his life
on May 8, 1753. He was born on the ranch of San Vincente, the estate of San Diego Corraljo, in the
Jurisdiction of PГ©njamo, Guanajuato.[1] His parents were Don CristГіbal Hidalgo y Costilla and
DoГ±a Ana MarГa Gallaga. Miguel Hidalgo was a Creole, meaning that he was born of pure
Spanish blood in a province of Spain.[2] Don CristГіbal and DoГ±a Ana MarГa conceived three
more sons subsequent to Miguel. All of their sons were beneficiaries to the reign of Carlos III in
Spain. Carlos III allowed admittance of Creoles to colleges and universities, thus inspiring Creole

Following this accomplishment, Hidalgo spent time in Valladolid where he lectured in Latin,
Philosophy, and the principles of Theology at San NicolГЎs.[12] In 1773 Hidalgo returned to the
University of Mexico for his second Bachelor degree in Theology. In 1774 Hidalgo won a prize for
the best dissertation on the The True Method of Studying Theology. Then in 1778 he was
ordained as a priest either in Valladolid or the City of Mexico.[13] During, as well as following, his
academic career Hidalgo spent the majority of his time in Valladolid. His occupations included
Rector of the college of San NicolГЎs, teacher, and cleric. It has been stated that many of the
heroes of the revolutionary period were native of Valladolid or its vicinity, or were at one time
resident there. Beginning in 1785 in Colima, Hidalgo engaged himself in parochial work, and in
1793 took the position of curate of the parish church in San Filipe.[14] It was in the year 1800
that the inquisition became suspicious of Hidalgo. He was denounced by Fray Joaquin Huesca
for unorthodox utterances. A report issued thereafter by the Michoacan commissioner claimed
that Hidalgo was a most learned man who had ruined himself with gambling and women, that he
had read prohibited books and while a professor of theology he had taught from Jansenist works.
[15] As no hard evidence of these accusations surfaced, the paperwork was filed away for future
reference. In 1801, Hidalgo began his

Synthetic Steroids
Introduction
There are two different types of steroids: natural steroids and synthetic steroids. Natural steroids
are made from fats in the body. Any of a large group of fat soluble organic compounds, such as:
sterols, bile acids, and sex hormones, most of which have specific physiological action (Steriod,
n.d.). The human body naturally produces the following steroids: sex steroids, corticosteroids,
mineralocorticoids, bile acid, and sterols. Sex steroids are made up of androgens and estrogens.
Androgen is the male hormone that the body produces and is divided into two parts: androgenic
and anabolic. Androgenic is the part involved in developing the male sex characteristics. Anabolic

Leadership Into The Next Millennium
1.) The concept that I have acquired and would to discuss is leadership into the next millennium .
There are many leaders that share similar but different leadership approaches. But for all leaders,
communication is critical to the success of their vision and their approach to how their vision is
utilized within their organization. Communication needs to takes place at all levels from initial
training to senior managementtraining roles. A leader will use communication to relay information
to all employees at all levels. When doing so, all employees should understand why the organization
exists, what the organization does, what the long termgrowth outlook is and most importantly in my
opinion, the important things the company does not do. When leaders use clear and honest
communication they are increasing their chances that the employees will build positive emotional
bank account deposits while building trust. An employee will trust that leader to communicate
during positive and negative times. The leader will also value their employees and will genuinely
care about their employees. Unlike traditional leadershipwhere people were counted as expendable
and replaceable, the new approach to leadership values the asset which is the employee. For
example, a leader will have meeting with all levels of management to explain and go over in
detail a vision in which the lower level employees will be able to share their vision. This shared
vision has the potential to create new

Comparing the Openings of the Film Versions of Romeo and Juliet by Franco Zeffirelli and Baz
Luhrmann Both openings of Romeo and Juliet by Franco Zeffirelli and Baz Luhrmann show
similarities and contrasts. Although both versions are faithful to the text as the words spoken by
the voiceover in the Prologue are the same, the methods of presentation are clearly different.
Zeffirelli places the film in the 17th century and takes a more traditional approach. By using a
white middle aged male for the voiceover, Zeffirelli is just giving the audience exactly what they
expect, the first opportunity to see Romeo and Juliet on the screen is when as the film was made in
1968. This... Luhrmann s opening is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think it is also important that the statue is smaller than the skyscrapers as this suggests that the
families in this time were so powerful that they were in fact more influential than God. I think
that the purpose of the frantic introduction and the short takes represent snapshots taken by a
camera and give the impression that there is a lot of action in the film. Zeffirelli, however uses
only 2 shots in his opening with slow panning from left to right, this connotes a slow, more
tranquil film. Luhrmann ignores the stereotypes of Shakespeare, so therefore he has more
freedom to portray the film in a modern way. There is a quiet string quartet playing in Zeffirelli s
opening which creates a calm atmosphere. The non diegetic music in Luhrmann s is Cammina
Burra , which is a dramatic opera and as the music crescendos, all of the snapshots become faster
and have more dramatic images like gun battles and fighting. This makes the audience realise that
the music will be connected to what is happening in the film, and the directors could use a
diminuendo to build tension during tense moments. This opera connotes the emotions anger,
despair and confusion, and because the music climaxes early on, before the audience has time to
settle into the film, suggests that the film is going to be action packed and will grab their attention
straight away. The uses of the various sizes of

Vermaport Cart-Moving Escalator Case Analysis
While it is possible that the two parts could operate independently (e.g., if the cart moving line
required maintenance, people could still take the people moving line), they were part of the same
system and indeed, it would be virtually impossible to replace one without the other because of
their shared physical proximity/connections. I am not aware of any Vermaport (or similar system
manufactured by a competitor) being installed/replaced without the people moving part being
concurrently installed/replaced with the cart moving part. How Is The Vermaport s Cart Moving

Our main purpose is to understand the Security challenges faced in using DNS and better practices
to reduce those.
I.INTRODUCTION
DNS is a protocol with some protocols for computers in exchanging data over the Internet. The
process is to turn a website like google.com into an machine readable address like 8.8.8.8 and
8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use for identification on the network. In fact Google Public DNS
is largest DNS service in the world which handles more than 400 billion requests a day. All the
computers or hosts on the internet use IP Address to establish a connection with site they are
need. With the DNS service, we don t need to remember the whole bunch of numbers stacked at
each decimal point. We just use a DNS server and appropriate name servers and access the sites
with specific names. And this DNS server manages a massive database which maps the domain
names to those IP Addresses.
On a short note, DNS server search for the domain name as per the User Request. This process is
named as DNS name Resolution and this means DNS servers converts the domain name to IP
address. As mentioned earlier, google.com has IP address of 8.8.8.8 which you enter directly into
browser will give you the Google s page. Web site s IP addresses are dynamic and some sites use
many IP s with only one Domain name.Without DNS servers, Internet access would be a lot tougher.
II.DETAILED WORKING OF DNS:
When you are trying to access a domain, the hose

  • 5. The, Native American, And Whatever White My Dad When I think of the word Ethnicity of course I immediately think, Oh I m Mexican, Native American, and whatever white my dad is. While I do have a darker brown skin I was not raised in the traditional way it s assumed I was. I am only a quarter Mexican, so I was not raised in a Mexican household. The reality of it is that I was raised in a small rural town, this particular tiny town goes by the name of Hotchkiss, CO. I suppose I would say my real ethnicity is Rural Conservative American. Out of the 900 people that live there the two main career choices are ranching and coal mining. The town of Hotchkiss is a predominately white town and it is full of conservatives. I was raised by my Democratic mother (who really is a Republican) and my Republican father, and when I was four my next door neighbors began taking me to their Baptist church every Sunday. While I hated living in a small town and I will never live in one again, small town thinking and values have become a part of who I am. The sense of community in a small town has caused me to genuinely care about everyone around me. While I do not consider myself to be conservative, many of my political beliefs do tend to lean toward the conservative side of seeing things. I believe Americans are ignorant, and I am not ignorant enough to believe that I am just as ignorant as everyone else; but, I think that being American means standing up for what s right, and not backing down on my own opinions just because someone ... • 6. Human Behavior And Human Development Essay While the study of human genes is increasingly improving our understanding of human development, it is not solely our genetic makeup that determines how we will develop. Humans as a species share many universal traits, which make it easy to disregard the large influence the environment plays in development. Throughout the lifespan, the environment presents itself in many different positions that help determine and shape humandevelopment. By looking at the influence of the environment and geneticson human development we are able to create a more holistic view of this process and gain a better understanding of the complexities involved within it. Through this comprehensive lens, it is easy to see how probabilistic human development offers the greatest amount of explanation, unlike the predetermined views of genetic influence in the past, and that environmental influence has an extensive impact on human behavior. Throughout human history, there have been many shared processes and factors related to development. Evolutionary psychologyis a branch of psychology that has developed based on the idea that humans have shared behavioral traits. Demonstrations of these shared human traits can be seen in fixed patterns. These fixed patterns, such as yawning and attachment, are unlearned behaviors ever present in human development, allowing us to overestimate the power of genetics on human development as a whole (Newman Newman, 2016). While fixed patterns do have a largely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Animal Shelters Animal Shelters have been the source of many rescued domesticated animals. Receiving about 8 10 million animals a year, they are important in keeping stray and abandoned dogs and cats off the streets in order to give them a safe and loving new home. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 47% of dogs and 42% of cats are rehomed (ASPCA.org). However, what happens to the other 53 58% of those animals that were not given a new home? Well, many of the animals left will be in the shelter trying to gain the attention of a fitting new owner excited with the thought of adopting them. However, after many months, the shelters become overpopulated with the number of dogs and cats that enter the compound leaving the shelter no choice but to remove the older animals by way of euthanasia. Euthanizing these animals are a way to decrease the surplus population roaming the streets and in the shelters. Although euthanasia may be called for in some cases, such as old age or terminally ill animals, it is inhumane to euthanize perfectly healthy ones for the sake of space and controlled population sizes. Overpopulation is one of the top reasons for animals being euthanized in shelters. About 1.5 million sheltered animals are euthanized annually due to overpopulation, illnesses, or behavior (ASPCA.org). In order to prevent the amount of euthanizations in shelters, domestic animal populations have to be controlled to some extent. There are several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Kurt Cobain s Life Drugs have taken and changed the lives of many, even people who seem invincible, our idols. Many famous musicians and actors have lost their lives due to drugs or alcohol. Three examples would be Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland, and Layne Staley, three of the most famous musicians of their time. Each of their lives were taken by drugs, and some recently. They were all born in the same year of 1967, but all died at different times. Kurt Cobain, singer and guitarist of Nirvana, was 27 when his heroin addiction caused him to take his own life. Throughout his teenage years, he experimented with prescription drugs and marijuana. He began using a drug known as Hash in 1984, which was popular in his hometown of Aberdeen, Washington. In the summer of 1986, just two years after Kurt first tried... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His death is still shrouded in mystery, whether it was a real suicide, or a murder covered up to look like to a suicide. Either way, his death silenced the people of his generation. He was an inspiration to millions of people across the world, and his death came as a shock. Scott Weiland, former singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, struggled with substance abuse throughout his whole life. When he was young, he showed an interest in singing. In high school he formed his first band Mighty Joe Young, which eventually became Stone Temple Pilots. They were one of the biggest bands of the 90 s. Scott first got into his drug habits in high school, and was sent to rehab when his parents found drugs in his room. In 1995, after his band s second album release, he was arrested for drug possession. This brush with the law did little to quell Weiland s appetite for drugs (Scott Weiland Biography). At one point, he lived in a Los Angeles hotel, shooting up heroin with Kurt Cobain s wife, Courtney Love. Weiland s personal addictions impacted his band s ability to tour in 1996, so he subsequently parted ways with the band for a time. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. How Jesus Christ Fulfilled The Covenants God Made With... Introduction Throughout the history of the world, God has been working to bring humanity back to him. Due to the loss of constant communion in the fall, God set forth multiple promises to eventually establish his eternal Kingdom, the New Testament, is the culmination of these promises. The Gospels are the most specific in how Jesus Christ fulfilled the covenants God made with Abraham and David. More importantly he is the fulfillment of the new covenant, which washes away sin and brings humanity back into communion with God. What is modeled in the Gospels is reaffirmed in Acts, by the way the church is to function according to the culmination of the Covenants. Acts begins to reveal the great mystery that is the inclusion of the Gentiles in God s covenant. Paul s Epistles take the culmination a step further and defend the idea that the fulfillment of God s covenants does not just affect the people of Israel, but the Gentiles as well. The General epistles teach that the people are no longer bound by the mosaic covenant since the New Covenant was fulfilled via Jesus Christ. Yet practice of the law is still an important factor of the Christian life style even if superseded by the New Covenant. Revelation shows that covenants are leading up to the lord s victory and salvation of his people. The sins of the Jews and Gentiles are washed away by Jesus the blood of the lamb so in reality the battle is already won because of the New Covenants fulfillment in Jesus. It is clear from ... Biological, Sociological And Developmental Effects On A Child Over the past decade, play has been the focus of many researches due to its biological, sociological and developmental effects on a child. Play is understood as a basic human motivation and a phase for individual development and of cultural assimilation and construction which leads to a specific view on childhood. Playis sometimes opposed with serious work and learning activities which is not true because play is an important arena in a childs life. Play is significant for a child s growth, improvement of the child s welfare and play is also the child s legitimate right. Some people still get confused between the meaning of play and just having fun. Play, in similar words, is the universal language of childhood. It is through play that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Play is one of the aspects through which children learn the norms of the society they belong to, its rules and values. Play is considered as a medium of learning in early childhood and many researches that are conducted to study play are observational researches which observe children within early childhood educational settings and also by interviewing their parents, caregivers or educators. There is an influence of the cultural background and dynamics of the society a child belongs to on the child s play. Play, is thus, a universal aspect of childhood but it differs from child to child and across time and space. Play, also transcend species, infant or young animals are also indulged in an activity which is similar to child s play. (Society, n.d.) A number of things are necessary to be present for this universal aspect, play, to occur and be sustained. One of these things is time and space which is frequently associated with poverty and its absence. If the child belongs to a poverty stricken family or area then there are high chances that he is involved in labor, whether inside the house or outside, and the chances of him being involved in any type of play is minimized. Space for play is another issue which has been witnessed due to the growth in cities which led to a diminution in the availability of space, in general and has thus made space an issue too. • 11. Metamorphosis, By Franz Kafka Society can be cruel to people who do not fit in and art can help to break the pain. Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, is a reflection of his unsettled relationship with his family and society. Franz Kafka creates a hideous creature, a monstrous insect, to show how he feels in his reality. Gregor, in Metamorphosis, is a tool for Kafka to psychoanalyze his perceived deficiency in society and communicate his contemplations on his meaning in life. Franz Kafka s estrangement from his family and society started early in his life. Franz Kafka was born on the third of July, 1883 in Prague. Kafka was the oldest child with three younger sisters and two brothers that died as infants. Prague was home to Czech people but at that time was controlled by the Austro Hungarian Empire. Kafka grew up in a German speaking Jewish family. Not many German Jews lived in Czech at that time and this alone may have played a part in his separation from society. He was also not very involved with Judaism. He knew all the Jewish customs but later considered himself a socialist atheist (Price, par. 4). Kafka s first language was Czech but after the age of six he went to a German speaking school and he became more fluent in the German language. Franz Kafka s father, Herman Kafka, was a wealthy merchant and was very repressive of Franz. Kafka s mother Julie Lowy Kafka was not able to protect him from his father. • 12. An Eco Friendly Practice For Your Lawn And Garden It seems so ridiculous that gardening would be an area where we need to be environmentally conscious. After all, if you are growing green things, it should be an eco friendly practice by default, shouldn t it? Unfortunately, mostly for the sake of modern convenience, there are now so many chemicals tied up in gardening either to make your veggies pest free and fruitful or to make certain your flowers are weed free and extra large that we almost negate the positive ecological impact of growing plants. Fortunately, there are ways to have it all well fertilized, bug less plants, and a clear, green conscience. All you need to do is use all natural, environmentally sound products for your lawn and garden. The first product you want to check out is a little thing called diatomaceous earth. Frankly, it has so many benefits, it is almost like cheating. It is both a pest control agent and a growth medium, and it retains water and nutrients, while assisting with drainage. The primary drawbacks are the potential for harm to helpful insects and the dangers of inhalation, depending on which type you buy (though these are no different than the risks with chemical insecticides). If you visit your local nursery or big box home improvement store, they should be able to help you find some easily. It may sound like a joke, but if you are looking for natural, eco friendly fertilizer with little or no odor, TerraCycle s Worm Poop does an excellent job and you can feel good about it for ... Buckley Jr. sends a warning: that idealism itself is fine, but idealism which threatens reality can have prohibitive consequences. W.D. Valgardson s short story, The Novice, shows a sailor reflecting on his life, and his fate, as he and what s left of his crew wade in Alberta s Lake Narrows, waiting for sunrise. In WD Valgardson s, The Novice the reader should come to the realization that idealism may be dangerous when it skews the truth, but that it is ultimately necessary in the face of misfortune, so one may maintain hope in the face of challenging obstacles. In The Novice the protagonist and his crew end up in their life threatening situation through a dangerous resolute idealism, which skews their perception of... • 14. The Theoretical Approach Of Planning For Emergencies And... This paper will briefly examine the theoretical approach to planning for emergencies and disasters with an overview of the use of Worst Case Scenario Philosophy and speak to the importance on why the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) can enhance individual organizations and the community to more efficiently and effectively mitigate an emergency and disaster. It is a mutually shared understanding that that we as a nation, an industry and the community need to be better prepared to lessen the effects of crisis in order to protect our citizenry. Unfortunately it is easier said then made actionable. While cooperation of agencies throughout the community is not guaranteed regardless of the validity of the vulnerabilities, coordinated community and agency specific planning is required for a complete mitigation and recovery for crisis response. This enables the entire community to address worst case scenarios, obtain the buy in of all public private organizations to enable inter agency cooperation, and facilitates clear communication by providing the responders the ability to understand actions taking place, or that could take place, as a result of asset dependencies throughout all operational periods of a disaster response. A mass causally response is one of the most significant elements of crisis mitigation. • 15. Critical Whiteness in Education Theoretical Framework of the Study As seen in the previous literature, empirical research in the last twenty years reveals the positive student outcomes associated to service learning. However, as Susan Jones (2002) argues, student s ability to actively participate in all aspects of their service learning experience depends on the intersection of the student s own background. . . , developmental readiness for such a learning experience, and the privileging conditions that put a college student in a community service organization as a volunteer in the first place (p. 13). Accordingly, different complexities may emerge when students engage with ill structured, complex social issues present in the community service settings typically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frankenberg (1993) describes Whiteness as multidimensional: First, whiteness is a location of structural advantage, of race privilege. Second, it is a standpoint and place from which white people look at ourselves, at others, and at society. Third, whiteness refers to a set of cultural practices that are usually unmarked and unnamed (p. 1). Although Whiteness has intangible systems of oppression, inequality, and unearned advantage that are not necessary seen, heard, or felt; nonetheless, they reproduce and support the idea of White as the ultimate form of racial identity. Butin (2005) examines the dynamics of Whiteness, and the extent to which student resistance is conceptualized as occurring due to dominant students rejection of the exposure and analysis of these same hidden and/or explicit social, cultural, and academic structures and practices of the school that privilege and sustains White, middle class norms (p. 117). As such, addressing the dynamics of social problems through readings, classroom discussions, and community services visits may confront students with their conditions of privilege, as well as with new epistemologies that do not necessary resonate with students previous knowledge of the world; therefore, students may feel uncomfortable, uneasy and unwilling to discuss social issues. • 16. Inequality Vs Income Inequality America having redeemed its democracy after the conclusion of the civil wars, it becomes regrettable that it betrayed that it was going to reveal the same with the concentration of wealth. However, how much it is inevitable to avoid inequality of income and wealth, the level of wealth among those at the high ranks of the economic status points a potential threat to equality among all the citizens of a nation. The issue is not whether income inequality is bad or good, the question of contention is, and at what point does this inequality start to pose a threat to the equality of opportunity and above all the democracy of a nation. America had reached that tipping point of inequality that had never been seen during the Gilded Age of the 19th century. With inequalities as a result of income levels, it was complicated to correct the dysfunctions of an economy. The office of the Congressional budget pointed out that between 1979 and 2007, during the beginning of great recession the income gap after payment of the transfers and federal taxes tripled; there was an increase in the after tax. While this was happening, the medium household income was continuously falling. At the beginning of the 19th century, wealth had become highly concentrated than income. The modern trend of wealth concentration posed a threat to the pillars of the American society, the economy, the ideal of equal opportunity and above all the democracy of the United States of America. With the concentration of wealth, there was the likelihood of consumers having low purchasing power thus many businesses were likely to lack incentives for hiring workers. The rich were spending small proportions of their income than the average class and the poor; this led to the concentration of wealth at the top of the economy. Through this concentration of wealth at the top, there was hampering of the upward mobility (Mehrotra, 25 61). Generally, low upward mobility is a correlation of high rates of inequality. With the decline in the middle class and the dropping of the medium household incomes, there were very remote possibilities of upward mobility. The relationship between democracy and the then widening inequality was totally over shown in the United States. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sylvia Plath and Sharon Olds may come across as two seemingly different poets, however, they are really quite similar, especially in their driving forces behind their writing styles in poetry. The lives of Plath and Olds are both expressive of the realities of a father dominated family, in which both of these poets lost their fathers at a young age. This is significant because both poets have faced a similar traumatic event that has had everlasting effects on their adult womanhood, which is reflected in their writings. For both these woman, their accesses to father daughter relationships were denied based on life... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these crops had an unquenchable demand with roaring profits both locally and when exported. When Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin, the demand for cotton skyrocketed. Many southerners believed that the cotton enterprise depended on more slave labor with bigger crops and more fertile land which pushed farmers to acquire more land. Thus expanding the railroad to have more railroad mileage in place by 1860 than any region outside of the northern United States.(Drescher) With this lust for more land, opened the issue of whether new states would allow or disallow slavery. This argument was tested each time new land was acquired, but it originated in 1820 with the Missouri Compromise. Under the Missouri Compromise, Maine was to enter the union as a free state while Missouri entered as a slave state. The reasoning behind this was that the balance would remain equal between free and slave states, however, slavery was prohibited in all land lying above the 36, 30 latitude line. We must also look to the compromise of 1850when California wanted to join the Union. This occurs because the pressure in the left side of the heart is naturally higher than the right. The extra blood from the left atrium overloads the right atrium and the right ventricle, causing right heart dilation, and subsequent heart failure (5). If left untreated, patients can develop reversal of the ASD, resulting in a right to left shunt; this is known as Eisenmenger s syndrome. There are many leaders that share similar but different leadership approaches. But for all leaders, communication is critical to the success of their vision and their approach to how their vision is utilized within their organization. Communication needs to takes place at all levels from initial training to senior managementtraining roles. A leader will use communication to relay information to all employees at all levels. When doing so, all employees should understand why the organization exists, what the organization does, what the long termgrowth outlook is and most importantly in my opinion, the important things the company does not do. When leaders use clear and honest communication they are increasing their chances that the employees will build positive emotional bank account deposits while building trust. An employee will trust that leader to communicate during positive and negative times. The leader will also value their employees and will genuinely care about their employees. Unlike traditional leadershipwhere people were counted as expendable and replaceable, the new approach to leadership values the asset which is the employee. Although both versions are faithful to the text as the words spoken by the voiceover in the Prologue are the same, the methods of presentation are clearly different. Zeffirelli places the film in the 17th century and takes a more traditional approach. I think it is also important that the statue is smaller than the skyscrapers as this suggests that the families in this time were so powerful that they were in fact more influential than God. I think that the purpose of the frantic introduction and the short takes represent snapshots taken by a camera and give the impression that there is a lot of action in the film. Zeffirelli, however uses only 2 shots in his opening with slow panning from left to right, this connotes a slow, more tranquil film. Luhrmann ignores the stereotypes of Shakespeare, so therefore he has more freedom to portray the film in a modern way. There is a quiet string quartet playing in Zeffirelli s opening which creates a calm atmosphere. The non diegetic music in Luhrmann s is Cammina Burra , which is a dramatic opera and as the music crescendos, all of the snapshots become faster and have more dramatic images like gun battles and fighting. This makes the audience realise that the music will be connected to what is happening in the film, and the directors could use a diminuendo to build tension during tense moments. This opera connotes the emotions anger, despair and confusion, and because the music climaxes early on, before the audience has time to settle into the film, suggests that the film is going to be action packed and will grab their attention straight away. Our main purpose is to understand the Security challenges faced in using DNS and better practices to reduce those. I.INTRODUCTION DNS is a protocol with some protocols for computers in exchanging data over the Internet. The process is to turn a website like google.com into an machine readable address like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use for identification on the network. In fact Google Public DNS is largest DNS service in the world which handles more than 400 billion requests a day. All the computers or hosts on the internet use IP Address to establish a connection with site they are need. With the DNS service, we don t need to remember the whole bunch of numbers stacked at each decimal point. We just use a DNS server and appropriate name servers and access the sites with specific names. And this DNS server manages a massive database which maps the domain names to those IP Addresses. On a short note, DNS server search for the domain name as per the User Request. This process is named as DNS name Resolution and this means DNS servers converts the domain name to IP address. As mentioned earlier, google.com has IP address of 8.8.8.8 which you enter directly into browser will give you the Google s page.
