Compare And Contrast Essay Outline
Template
Crafting an essay on the subject of a "Compare and Contrast Essay Outline Template" presents
both challenges and opportunities for the writer. On one hand, the topic itself provides a clear
framework, as it inherently demands a structured approach. However, this apparent simplicity
can be deceptive, as the writer must navigate the intricacies of comparing and contrasting
different elements while adhering to a predefined template.
One of the initial challenges is to identify suitable subjects for comparison. It requires thoughtful
consideration to select topics that not only share similarities but also exhibit significant
differences. This process involves research and a deep understanding of the chosen subjects to
ensure a meaningful and insightful analysis.
Next, constructing a coherent outline becomes crucial. The template should facilitate a logical
flow of ideas, allowing for a seamless transition between points of comparison. Ensuring a
balance between similarities and differences, and arranging them in a manner that engages the
reader, adds another layer of complexity to the task.
The actual writing process demands precision and clarity. Expressing thoughts concisely while
providing sufficient detail to support comparisons can be challenging. Striking the right balance
is essential to avoid overwhelming the reader with information or leaving them with unanswered
questions.
Furthermore, maintaining a formal tone and adhering to the guidelines of academic writing poses
its own set of challenges. The writer must be mindful of proper citation, avoiding plagiarism,
and ensuring that the essay adheres to a standardized structure.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the specified topic requires a blend of analytical skills,
research capabilities, and the ability to articulate ideas effectively. While the template provides a
roadmap, it is the writer's responsibility to navigate the intricate terrain of comparison and
contrast. Success in this endeavor hinges on the writer's capacity to create a compelling narrative
that not only adheres to the template but also engages and enlightens the reader.

The Role of Women in Venezuela Essay
Venezuela see s the role of women in different ways depending on where they live,
by tradition women should perform household work and may work outside their
homes but the work must be related to domestic services. In rural areas women must
share the physical work with men to make a living. Women are legally equal to men
in Venezuela but they live in a patriarchal societies which has a national brand of
machismo. Machismo is the term when men are controlling and don t allow women
to be their own self. Although women had equal rights, the ones that had been active
in the struggle for democracy found themselves deprived of its privileges. The
Coordinator of Women s Non Governmental Organizations (CONG), united twenty

Their actions demonstrated the value of active and participatory democracy, which
was to be incorporated in the new Constitution. New laws were passed which gave the
poor access to health, education and basic services. Subsequent legislation saw laws
dedicated to addressing sexism and intervening with the family. These laws were
combined with affirmative action, measures focussing on poor and indigenous
women to ensure that they receive the best treatment when it comes to loans,
housing, health and education. In addition to rallies in local and national politics,
women in Venezuela are also quickly reaching groundbreaking levels of economic
empowerment under the administration of President ChГЎvez. The new Constitution
set out important legal measures, including a donation to women who work at home,
eligible for social security benefits. A key factor in the support of women s
participation towards the economy is institutions. For example, Banmujer, the
Women s Development Bank of Venezuela, is the only national financial institution
of its kind. Banmujer gives small, low interest loans to women in order to help them
form businesses. The goals of the bank are to create employment and reduce poverty
among women, encourage women s participation in the economic and social
transformations that are taking place as part of Venezuela s Bolivarian Revolution.
Banmujer was established in honor of International Women s Day. On the fifth
anniversary of that first loan, President

Elemental Wiccan Accident
My dad was a very accident prone man. In the last 6 months that he was alive, he
had over a half of a dozen major injuries. Some of these included: spilling and entire
barbecue full of hot coals on his lap, fracturing his shin bone on a boat hitch,
falling into a fire backwards, and surviving a motorcycle crash. I m sure you have
all herd the song by Chumbawumba called I get knocked down (but I get up again) .
Well, that was his jam. The final in his series of Unfortunate Events occurred on
March 4th, 2007.
He owned a small handyman business, in North Carolina, that gave huge discounts to
veterans and elderly. That day, he was in a rush to help this little old woman who had

And I prayed. I begged. I pleaded with God not to take my father. To just let me get
to him and say good bye.
He made the journey so challenging. My flight was delayed over an hour and I
missed a connector. This got me stuck in Pennsylvania for over 6 hours.
The whole time I prayed.
Did I mention that I was a practicing Elemental Wiccan at the time who believed in a
God and a
Goddess and Mother Nature? Did I also mention that I wasn t praying to any of them?
I was praying to the God of Israel; of my forefathers.
I had no idea at the time why it felt right to go against what I had been practicing for
almost 4 years at the time. But I felt it in the udder building blocks of my being that
this was the right thing to do.
I made it to the hospital room just three hours later.
I was filled in on the extent of his injuries. He had 7 broken vertebrae. Three in his
neck and four in his back. His spinal cord was severed and he was paralyzed from the
neck down. He was in a medically induced coma and was being kept alive my
machines.
He stayed in that coma for 11 days. When he came out, My sister and I were by his
side. The doctors explained to him, after confirming that he comprehended, the extent
of his injuries.

Compare and Contrast of Classical Ballet and Modern Dance
Dance is one of the most beautiful, expressive forms of art known to mankind. It
expresses joy, love, sorrow, anger, and the list truly goes on for all the possible
emotions that it can convey. Dance not only can express how one feels, but it can
tell a story or even be used to praise a higher power. Dance has intricately played an
important role to every culture over the course of time. Two forms of dance that have
not only stood against the test of time but have influenced the development of other
various styles of dance is none other than Classical Ballet and Modern Dance.

Petipa s production of Swan Lake is a beautiful example of the structure
movements that dancers must perform; in the clip titled Odile entrance Black Swan
pas de deux, you see The Black Swan perfect posture and balance, dancing on en
Pointe all the while managing to gracefully seduce the prince through her seductive
movements and entrancing expressions. In contrast Modern dance focus is on the
dancer expressing their inner most emotions and feelings through free flowing
movements. The modern dancer uses their whole body more naturally and fluidly to
convey what their current emotional state is, unlike classical ballet where the
ballerina at all times keeps an upright posture, and performs with structured, angular
lines. Martha Graham s Frontier is a great example of the free movements of
Modern dance; In this performance Martha Graham uses her whole body to move to
the rhythmic sounds of the drums and music, you can clearly see that there is no
confined structure in this performance, she is completely moving organically to how
she is feeling and what she is trying to convey through her movements. Classical
ballet took a step forward and revived prominent roles for men; whom previously the
Romantic era had solely focused on the art of the
Tennessee Coal Sludge Disaster Essay
Tennessee Coal Sludge Disaster
What Happened? The largest environmental disaster in U.S. history occurred on
December 22nd, 2008 when a 84 acre pit containing toxic coal combustion residue
at the Tennessee Valley Authority Fossil Plant in Kingston, Tennessee gave way.
According to a report by AECOM, the firm hired to perform the root cause report, a
combination of the high water content of the wet ash, the increasing height of ash,
the construction of the sloping dikes over the wet ash, and the existence of an
unusual bottom layer of ash and silt were among the long evolving conditions that
caused the ash spill at Kingston Fossil Plant (TVA, 2010). The resulting slide sent a
wave of over a billion gallons of sludge out on the ... Show more content on

On top of emitting 1.9 billion tons of carbon dioxide each year, coal fired power
plants in the United States also create 120 million tons of toxic waste. That means
each of the nation s 500 coal fired power plants produces an average 240,000 tons
of toxic waste each year. A power plant that operates for 40 years will leave behind
9.6 million tons of toxic waste (2009). Coal Combustion Residue despite containing
toxic metals such as arsenic, mercury, lead, selenium, and cadmium that are proven
to cause cancer, kidney problems, birth defects, and wreck havoc on the nervous
system. Coal Combustion Residue can is disposed by either being land filled, used
to reclaim mine shafts, or are stored in pits on site of coal burning plants. Even
without a spill these contaminants can leach into the ground and pose a health risk if
they are not disposed of properly.
What was dangerous about this spill? The Tennessee Coal Valley plant in a press
release detailing the extent of the disaster showed the sheer magnitude of this spill,
In just one year, the plant s byproducts included 45,000 pounds of arsenic, 49,000
pounds of lead, 1.4 million pounds of barium, 91,000 pounds of chromium and
140,000 pounds of manganese. Those metals can cause cancer, liver damage

Chronic bronchi is a disease that does affect people regardless of their ages. Such
can be said to be COPD which is an acronym for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Diseases. Is it contagious in nature? Two answers can be appropriate for such a
question which are yes it is and no it isn t at the same time. Bronchi can only be

means that its treatments adopted will be different. For instance; when it is acute
bronchitis, antibiotics will be used. You can also drink plenty of fluids and have
some rest. On the other hand, chronic bronchitis can be treated using therapies,
medication, bronchodilators and so on. How can it be prevented? As explained
above, the best thing to do about this infection is to ensure that you prevent it. At
least preventive measures will help to ensure that it is completely avoided. пѓјThe
best and most reliable way to have it prevented is through vaccination. пѓјIf there are

Social Commentary In Lord The Flies
The concept of social commentary has evolved since pre industrial time, society has
impact on human behavior no matter what age group. Instinct has became stronger
and reason has became weaker. Human behavior is nature v.s nurture, William
Golding the author of Lord of the Flies has touched well on the subject about social
commentary and how the boys have change. Kids are nurtured when they are
young, as they grow up they become more independent adding instinct in to the
cycle of life. When he gets [back] he ll come and rescue us ( William Golding 13),
Golding was touching base on how Ralph is in the nurture phrase still, until reality

Essay on Division of labor in a Household
Division of labor in a Household
The division of labor in the household hold depends on the environment. Society
creates gender ideology that affects the roles women and men take on in the
household. In The Second Shift by Arlie Russell, she states three different ideologies
of gender. There is the traditional, transitional and egalitarian ideology that
determines what sphere men and women want to identify with, home sphere or work
sphere. However, it depends what kind on the time period and society you live in that
determines the norm gender ideology, which affects the division of labor in a

Women are working more and identify their womanhood with the paid work as
men do. Hochschild has claimed that in 1950, 30% of women were in the labor
force, but in 2002, 60%, of women were working outside the home in the labor force.
Women are working more outside from the house was one change, but another
significant transformation that occurred in the family devotion scheme was that
women have fewer children then they use to. During the 1800 s women had eight
children, but in 1988 the average less than two children. Having less children and
working outside the house affected the house devotion scheme. With the shift from
working at home (private farms) to working in the labor force, now men and women
are working outside the home creating dilemmas with the second shift (housework).
Today, it s 63% of all marriage with children is of two job marriage. Some mothers
work fulltime, but others work part time due to the family devotion scheme.
With mothers working either fulltime and part time, there has been mommy wars ,
coined by Nina Darnton in 1990. This dilemma, the mommy wars, constitutes of two
socially constructed cultural images on how mothers should behave. One of the
socially contracted images of mothers is the traditional mother or stay at home mom.
On the other hand, there is a portrait of the supermom or the working mother. This

what particularly makes Chris a cruel being. Chris ended up recording over 160

kills in U.S history. However, the intent of his kills were far from humane. Chris
stated during his BUD/S training that, I wanted to be a SEAL in the worst way (Kyle

Firstly, Tao Wang is not only the CEO, but also the CTO in DJI, so his time conflict

he is lack of energy. Additionally, some staff in DJI think that Tao Wangs
perfectionistic characteristic bring them lots of pressure ,so they choose to leave DJI.
From my perspective, Tao Wang should hire some experienced managers to assistant
him to manage his employees as well as some specific but less important things.
Afterwards, he can have enough time to focus on planning the further development of
DJI. Also, it is suggestive for Tao Wang to engaged some technical advisers ,so that
the DJI can have the better products.
I am firmly convinced that Tao Wang would be more successful if he can improve

How Token Economies Increase The Latency Of A Gifted
Child...
Token economies have been used successfully to reduce the latency of responding to
instructions; Buisson, Murdock, Reynolds and Cronin (1995) used a token economy
to decrease the response latency for completing headings within a set time limit in
hearing impaired children and Fjellstedt and Sulzer AzГЎroff (1973) used a token
system to reduce latency of a student who did not follow directions in a given time
limit. The children received tokens, which were paired to back up reinforcers
contingent upon them being compliant and following directions within the time limit
set. In this study the aim is to use procedures similar to these two studies using a
token economyto reduce the response latency in compliance of a gifted child getting
off their computerfrom the get off time that they have been given, to when they
actually shut down and gets off the computer for the day. The target behaviour is the
child not complying with the family rules that state a set time to get off and stay off
the computer and iPad each day. The operational definition of getting off the
computer/iPad in this case is, the computer and iPad are shutdown completely and
the child has removed himself from the computer desk and reported in person to his
parents, and does not go back on his computer or iPad for the rest of the night.

During the session I communicated to the client by saying things such as mmm and
yes I hear you . Minimal encourager s were used to demonstrate that I was listening
to the client, without disturbing her flow too much. I nodded my head on a couple
of occasions which again showed the client that she still had my attention. There was
a brief moment of silence which I managed by acknowledging that the silence
provided a space for the client to think about what she had just said. At this point my
attention was on the client and I felt I gave her respect by not interrupting her
thinking time as I waited for her to begin talking again.
Empathic listening.
To demonstrate my empathy for the client I verbalised that I sense that this is

Rogers ( 1980 ) felt very passionately about empathic listening. He states: Empathic
listening means entering the private perceptual world of the other. It involves being
sensitive moment by moment to the changing felt meanings which flow in the other
person and temporarily living the others life without making judgements . ( Rogers,
1980. p.142 ). In being empathic towards the client during the session I also was able
to reassure her, particularly when during the session she questioned her own
capabilities.

Cincinnati Reds
For some Major League Baseball teams, trades can win titles for their organization.
For others, like the Cincinnati Reds, trades will give them less potential than they
already had. There are an immense number of reasons why the Cincinnati Reds
have worsened their roster with the trades and transactions they have made over
the past few years. One rationale of why these trades have hurt the Reds program is
how sudden the overall performance of the organization became worse. The Reds
also traded away a large amount of talent, which was a key factor in their lineup, to
dissolve their chances to compete with other teams in their league. While there are

Many of the pitchers they traded for did not perform very well in their early
seasons playing for the Reds. These pitchers, such as Cody Reed and John Lamb,
had very bad statistics. According m.mlb.com, Cody Reed went 0 7 and had a
7.36 ERA in 2016 and John Lamb had a record of 1 7 with an ERA of 6.43 in 2016.
With these statistics from players the Reds traded most of their franchise players
for, the Reds pitching lowered the performance of their organization and these
players will not be good enough to support their team. In conclusion, the people
who believe that the Reds are going to start a rebuild with the players they traded
for will not see the rebuild they were looking for because of the lack of talent they

Dramatic Imagery In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood
Truman Capote s book In Cold Blood, focuses on a small town in eastern Kansas
where the slaughter of the Clutter family occurred. He uses many descriptors to give
the town a bland look and uses dramatic irony throughout the whole first portion of
the book. Through his imagery, diction, and rhetorical devices, he shows his feelings
toward the town of Holcomb, Kansas. Although Capote portrays the town with many
dull details, the viewpoint he gives the readers is an important part of the story;
therefore, his purpose for writing the book wasn t for the glam details, but to show
readers that looking at someone s life without knowing them can be far different than
what you think.
In the beginning of the book, Capote uses imagery to give his audience a look at
what Holcomb consists of including; the type of people, the type of land, and how
the building s appearance affected the citizens mood. The depot itself, with its
peeling sulphur colored paint, is equally melancholy (Capote 3). He describes
them all as bland and rundown as possible because in truth that is what they were.
The local accent is barbed with a prairie twang, a ranch hand nasalness, and the
men, many of them, wear narrow frontier trousers, Stetsons, and high heeled boots
with pointed toes (Capote 3). The people talked and dressed and behaved like
southern farmers because that is what they mostly were. For example, Mr. Clutter is

When studying chemisty, you must grasp how reactions can form acids or bases, as
well as what effect that has on pH. A basic understanding of chemistry is important in
biology, because living things are composed of matter.
When water splits apart (which doesn t happen to every water molecule all at the
same time), hydrogen and hydroxide ions are created. The hydrogen ion H(+) can
combine with negatively charged elements to form acids. Acids are molecules that
can split apart in water and release hydrogen ions. A common example is hydrochloric

The Issues Of Male Rape And Sexual Assault
Outline
Our Presentation will be focused on the issues of male rape and the implications and
explanations of it.
We will be primarily focusing on women raping men rather male on male rape.
However, we will touch upon both types of male rape due to the large amount of
literature on that specific type.
The outline of our presentation will follow:
How Does The Law Define Male Rape and Sexual Assault
Statistics Regarding Male Rape
Social Construction of Masculinity
Male Rape by Women and Men
Difference between those types of rape (Implications/Explanations/The Failure to
Report)
The problems of reporting Rape: Shame, Humiliation and Embarrassment.
Feminism and Male Rape
Rape Power
Rape can be used as a weapon of war and is a common occurrence in prisons. For the
purpose of this presentation, we will be focusing on civil societies, especially as the
topic was covered last year.
Nonetheless, there will be a short section on how war rape and prison rape can
demonstrate rape as power.
What is Rape? How Does The Law Define Rape?
There are several definitions and terms regarding rape within society and law.
According to the law, rape is defined as the non consensual penetration with a penis.
A male rape victim is not considered a rape victim under S375(1) of Penal Code.
Rape is seen as the most severe form of coercion with the most extreme sexual
outcome in which sexual intercourse is obtained by the use of physical force or
threat of force (Waldner :53).

Analysis Of Maya Plisetskaya
The main purpose of this film is to tell the story of Russian ballerina Maya
Plisetskaya. In other words, the goal is to show her life during the period of time
from the start of her dancing career in 1934 until her death in 2015. One of the
biggest history aspects of the film will centralize on how WWII and post war
USSR have affected her career, individuality and personal life. Also, the film will
contain parts where people, who knew or worked with Maya Plisetskaya, will share
memories and their points of view on some of the events, shown in the film. Some of
the people are balletdancer and actor Mikhail Baryshnikov, Bolshoi Theatre director
Vladimir Urin and Plisetskaya s niece and ballet dancer Anna Plisetskaya.

To global incredulity, she was refused permission to appear at Covent Garden on
the Bolshoi Ballet s Western debut tour in 1956. However, Khrushchev soon
realised that the charismatic dancer would be better used in Soviet service. Maya
Plisetskaya, he said, was not just the Soviet Union s best ballerina, but also the best
ballerina in the world. The next part is called Taking the World . This part will start
with a very interesting event that occurred in 1997. Suddenly it began to rain during
Plisetskaya s outdoor performance of The Dying Swan. However, the audience forgot
to open their umbrellas as they were fascinated by her show. Also, another
remarkable thing happened. A designer Pierre Cardin was a part of the audience
that day, and at the end of the show the ballerina and the designer were formally
introduced. After their meeting, Cardin created dance costumes and evening wear
for Plisetskaya. Maya Plisetskaya had taken the world. She was officially
recognized as one of the greatest ballerinas. One of the most significant awards she
has received was Premium Imperiale, informally considered a Nobel Prize for the
Freedom Of Expression Contained Within The European...
An essential role of a journalist is to act as a public watchdog and the media enjoys
freedoms and protection in pursuit of this objective. Court reporting is
fundamental to the principle of open justice that not only must justice be done; it
must also be seen to be done. This common aim of media and the courts is met
with some restrictions, of which contempt of court is most serious. For journalists,
contempt can generally arise where an article prejudices a person s right to a fair
trial. It is mostly covered by the Contempt of Court Act 1981, hereafter referred to
as The Act , which was brought in to force in an attempt to strike a fair balance
between the Article 6 right to a fair trial and Article 10 freedom of expression
contained within the European Convention of Human Rights. It encourages
responsible reporting while discouraging outside interference with justice. Scottish
courts are viewed as comparatively harsh on contempt, but it is important for them
to remain realistic. It is rare that a trial will be deserted on the basis of contempt of
court, as courts are disinclined to allow appalling crimes to go unpunished due to
inevitable publicity regarding them. In Cox Griffiths, Petitioners Lord Prosser stated
that juries are healthy bodies. They do not need a germ free atmosphere . Contempt
of court comes in numerous forms such as disobedience of a court order,
unauthorised recording of court proceedings or murmuring judges . Where journalists

Few of my concerns is if there is a way to clean the air country s like this should put
together a saving programme so they can have a cleaner source of energy which
could be like applying for a grant for solar energy which, in this case, they will be
using the sun for clean energy which may take away smog and provide cleaner air.
Why is it important to have clean air? Because it makes it easier to breathe on the
lungs and the oxygen in the air that helps keep you alive. You might need to know
that CO2 can cause pollution that can cover the whole city and will not move
when you breathe in pollution it is bad for you because of the fact s some
pollution has Carbon monoxide which is gas that pollutes the air and is mainly
released by cars and other vehicles. Another one is Particulates which is like soot,
dust and fumes that are released in the air which can be caused by vehicles,
factories and smoke from homes burning coal for heating homes burning coal for

The Release Of India From The British Grip Of Power
Seemed
The release of India from the British grip of power seemed to be a historic victory, but
it soon posed problems for the inhabitants the subcontinent. Ever since the formation
of Pakistan and India, the East Pakistani population saw a cultural divide between
themselves and their Western counterpart. Although there were numerous other
factors that had contributed to this difference, language was the one critical catalyst
for Bengali self determination. The formation of Bangladeshi nationalism began with
the Bengali Language movement, which was of key significance because it unified
the Bengali people under the banner of nationalism. Historical events leading up to
the Bangladesh Liberation War, such as the Indo PakistanWar and Operation... Show

With the goal of avoiding religious bloodbath, what seemed to be a simple, quick fix
solution for state separation posed a series of problems for Pakistan. The problem lay
in the fact that there were two completely different nations that were forced to
coalesce into one state. This dilemma can be seen with the fundamental differences
between West and East Pakistan. Although East Pakistan contained a little over half
(54.8%) of the total Pakistani population, it only took up about an eighth (15.1%)
of the total land area. However, the disparities between the East and West do not
end with land distribution. In both foreign aid and per capita income, West Pakistan
dominated their Eastern counterpart. This economic disparity persisted during the
ten years of Pakistani independence, and the per capita income actually worsened
over a ten year period (between 1950 1960). The offices of the central Pakistani
government were all located in the west, and recruitment for civil, military, and
administrative positions were predominantly given to West Pakistanis. However, the
key difference between West and East Pakistan lay in culture. Each respective region
contained two spheres of peoples that were vastly different in regards to attitudes
and ambitions. The West was a land of mountains and deserts, and its people
mimicked the solidity and stability of its geographic features. The West Pakistanis
were described to be energetic, and had fierce respect for government,
Jane Martin Beauty
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile
practice (New International Version, James 3:16). The author of Beauty is Jane
Martin, a prize winning playwright, and is Americas best known, unknown
playwright (Mandell, 749). This play is about two jealous friends named Carla and
Bethany, who are the opposite of one another. Carla is beautiful model who has
personality but lacks intelligence. Whereas Bethany is studious and a successful
accountant/writer but isn t happy with her appearance. Both women don t appreciate
what they have and both want what the other has. In addition, Carla wishes she was

One benefit of being intelligent is becoming successful. Bethany is a very intelligent
woman and her intelligence has enabled her to be successful in her studies, in
publishing and to be successful in her accountant career. Carla tells Bethany, You re
the one with the $40,000 job straight out of school. You re the one who has
published short stories (Martin1.59). Bethany believes beauty is external and only
sees outer beauty not inner. For example, Carla tells Bethany is, You have
personality...Smart guys like you (Martin1.63 67). Bethany s job isn t based on
beauty, but it instead requires a strong mind. Being a public accountant minimize her
physical beauty while highlighting her mental or internal beauty. Bethany is
characterized as the internal beauty, the beauty of mind. However, one disadvantage
for Bethany being intelligent is that men have to know her. Jane Martin uses this to
show that, while Carla s relationships are mainly based on physical appearance,
Bethany s relationships with men are based on time and personality. In the play
Beauty, jealousy overcomes both women and as Bethany makes her final wish. Each
of the characters realizes that whatever they have lost was more valuable than what
they wished for: CARLA/BETHANY: We both have the one thing, the one and only

told her that I hoped she would be happy. Why not? She was marriedand financially

into the delivery room as her second coach. Upon first inspection, the room looked

I laughed to myself as I watched her lying there bitching because she was hungry. I

Power of suppliers:
Because of the Internet, suppliers can now sell their products online directly to the

Power of buyers:
Buyers are becoming a lot more educated in the costs of funeral homes and itemized
expenses. Because of this funeral homes cannot mark up their costs the way they used
to.
Product substitutes:
Today there are companies that offer caskets that one can make by themselves. They
can use the casket as a coffee table until it needs to be used for its other purpose.
Intensity of rivalry:
The threat of being bought out by SCI is very intense and the price they were

All the Kings Men
The Great Spider Web In the book, All The King s Men by Robert Penn Warren,
the character of Jack Burden gradually evolves into a person with a deeper
comprehension of the world around him. Jack grapples with many new concepts,
including the concept of whether or not knowledge is power. Jack s profession

will later use to blackmail them. So naturally Jack believes knowledge holds great
power. However, as the book carries on, Jack struggles with the idea that his
knowledge may have a much deeper effect on society than the original purpose of the
information. Throughout this novel Jack demonstrates that knowledge is power, but

Having knowledge of Judge Irwin s wrongdoings gives Willie the power to scare
him into doing what he pleases. As the book progresses we meet the friends (and

not want to take a job, and Jack plans to use information he dug up about Judge
Irwin (which connects to Adam s father) to make force him to take the job. I can

the information Jack wants to share with Adam could potentially shatter Adam s
view of the world, Jack feels he should use the power of his knowledge to make
Adam take the job that Adam s sister, Anne, so desperately wants him to take. All
through this book knowledge is portrayed as the root of power, often with Jack as
the man who has the knowledge. As the book progresses, Jack comes to realize
that knowledge can sometimes create unimaginable sorrow in peoples lives. When
Jack was young this was not a concept Jack was able to grasp. Jack s first journey
into the past proves that fact very clearly. Jack researches a scandal that occurred in

employees at around 90 plants and facilities worldwide. The company went public in

I will be comparing both companies General Motors Company and Ford Motor
Company for the past three years. We will be able to see all the trends these two
automotive manufacturers have and which one may be better to invest in by
looking at the last few year s ratios and percentages. This will give us a better

The Tar Creek Superfund Site
The Tar Creek Superfund site is located in Ottawa Country, in northeastern
Oklahoma. This superfund site covers five municipalities in its boundary, the site
covers approximately 40 square miles. Two towns are situated in the middle of the
superfund site, Picher and Cardin, both in hazardous areas. There is a population of
19,556 people who live in and around the superfundsite (Vincent). The Tar Creek
Superfund site was once a large miningoperation. The mine started in the early
1900s and was still in use until as late as the 1970s. The area was mostly minded
for zinc ore and lead (Wilson). Many of the mines at this site had their own mills
for the mineral separation process. Milling the lead and zinc ore created a large
amount of waste. This wasted was in the form of gravel, dust, and debris. The
milling process also created another type of waste know as mine tailings. Mine
tailings also known as chat , are huge piles of pulverized rock that are left over
after the target metals have been extracted from the mineral rocks that they are
located in (Wilson). This separation was largely inefficient, especially in older
mining operations. The result after this process left some of the metal containing
mineral left behind creating large above ground piles or being filled in pits are
tailings ponds. A few of these above ground piles reached a height of 200 feet,
containing high levels of lead and other dangerous substances. When mining came to
an end, these huge piles of
Role of Conflict Essay
Chelsea Williams
Role of Conflict
The two stories I chose were The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin and The Carnival
Dog, the Buyer of Diamonds by Ethan Canin. Both conflicts have similar ideas, which
can be compared and contrasted as I have below. These elements include theme,
setting and characters.
The first element to discus is theme. In The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin the
theme is the self independence of women. In the beginning of the story, the main
character, Louise Mallard mourns over the death of her husband, Mallard. As the
story progresses, Louise Mallard grows as she sees the new found freedom she has
been given at the loss of her husband. ... she would live for herself. There would be

. He sprinted back down to the house, sat down on the stops, and decided it wasn t
so bad to go to the mountains in July. When given the chance, he ends up giving up
and letting his father win. He believes that something this small isn t worth the fight
in the end. Though, later on Myron is faced with a much larger decision. He is
unhappy in medical school and wants to quit so that he can find contentment in
doing what he wants, even though he knows his father won t agree. This was his
biggest decision to escape his father but he fails. Abe dominates Myron, once again
as he always has. Myron ends up backing down and ultimately letting his father win
as he always has.
Do you give?

Do you give?
You mean, will I go back to school?
That s what I mean.
Look, Myron said, you re crazy.
Give me your answer.
............ I give.
In the end, Myron continues to live under his father.
The second element to discuss is the setting. The Setting in The Story of an Hour by
Kate Chopin seems to have great influence towards the conflict of the story. The story
seems to be set in the time that the author, Kate Chopin lived in, around the
nineteenth century. This was a time when a woman s independence was looked down
on. At this time they believed a man was needed in a woman s life to support
Hopi Indian Perspectives
The Hopi peoples continue to thrive and preserve their culture for as long as
humans have been known to inhabit this Earth. As Jake and Susanne Page
maintain, they are not only the oldest dwellers in this land but are considered by
most other Native Americans to have a wisdom, a knowledge of things, beyond
average comprehension (1994:19). This wisdom comes from a deep connection to
all things natural and of this Earth. The Hopis have always relied on nature to guide
them spiritually, philosophically, as well as physically. They rely on word of mouth
to pass down beliefs and teach values to each new generation so that the
Hopivotskwani the Hopipath of life may continue on. (Parezo 1996:237) Through the

Hopis recognize that their thoughts, prayers, wishes, and feelings affect the balance
of the world around them; therefore simply keeping a positive outlook may be all
the difference needed to keep crops prosperous. (Ferrero 1983) Seen as the future
of the Hopi clan, the Kachinas inspire life on Earth and thereafter. The Hopis
understand that through their hard work, dedication, and faith they are preparing
for the future of their people. Another important part of the Hopi culture, is the
idea that time is circular and ongoing. Hopis emerged from the spirit world to take
on their role in life as part of nature. They believe that their connection with the
land, animals, and spirits is a part of their Hopivotskowani. Therefore, they respect
the natural and cyclical tendency of life. Just as the seasons of the year bring life
and death to many plants and animals, the Hopi people accept life and death as part
of the human existence. While alive, a Hopi must do his/her part to learn about the
culture and how to do things the Hopi way , in order to prepare one s self for the
spirit world. (Ferrero 1983) Then, as one enters the spiritual world, his/her spirit
becomes a force of life giving nature and serves as a guide for young Hopis. The
circular motion of time allows the Hopis to accept occurrences as part of a larger
plan than one can see for one s self.
The Hopi people are extremely passionate about their cultural
Essay On National Living Wage
A new national living wage was announced by the Chancellor, Philip Hammond
during the 2017 Autumn Budget. It means a significant increase in the national
minimum wage for workers aged 25 years and over, which will see the national living
wage rise from ВЈ7.50 currently to ВЈ7.83 as of April 1st 2018. Workers will benefit
from a 4.4% increase due to the change. (Monro, 2017)
The national living wage is a compulsory minimum wage per hour that is paid to
employees aged 25 and over. The government seeks advice from the Low Pay
Commission on how to set out and achieve the new national living wage. The Low

Their Real Living Wage is set at ВЈ8.75 per hour for workers aged 18 years and over
(Living Wage Foundation, No Date), as young people face the same living costs as
others. Employees have shown support for this and 3000 employers have signed up
and pledged to pay their workers the Real Living Wage despite no legal obligation
(Living Wage Foundation, No Date). The news of an increased national living wage
has the potential for a number of benefits and drawbacks for the economy.
There is a strong case for the new living wage to be implemented. It may help to
reduce poverty, as the introduction of an increased rate of pay will increase the
lowest of salaries which will, in turn raise the income of such workers and this results
in them having more disposable income and therefore spending ability. This all leads
to higher consumption within the economy. It can also increase labour productivity
as higher wages will motivate workers to perform better. This

It is important to note the following when evaluating China s media industry: Public
service television is an essential service to the community and cohesion of democratic
societies aimed at the production, publication and distribution of a set of radio and

Promoting The Effects Of Drinking And Driving
The purpose of my paper is to promote the effects of drinking and driving. To
research my information, I used internet sources. In 1910, New York was the first
state to pass a law against drinking and driving, along with California and other
states soon taking after. However, there was so set standards of what level of blood
alcohol concentration (BAC) qualified as drunk driving. In 1936, Dr. Rolla Harger,
a professor of toxicology and biochemistry, licensed the Drunkometer. This balloon
like device, which people breathed in to, determined whether or not someone was
drinking. In 1938, the research done by the American Medical Association and the

Prostitution, Drugs And Money Laundering
Prostitution, drugs and money laundering are all tied together in the underground
world of the public crimes arena. In fact, acts are all influenced by the political,
economic, and social relations intertwined with organized crime resulting in violence,
public health issues, and money laundering schemes. Markets can be found online, on
the streets, and through legitimate and illegitimate practices. The very nature of
prostitution and drugcrimes are considered victimless crimes, resulting in collateral
damage against the innocent, but each criminal act can harm the innocent in various
degrees. Drug addictionhas affected all classes, races, and ethnicities for all time
around the world. Drugs have not only been used for medical and religious purposes,
but they are also illegally manufactured, smuggled, and distributed globally on the
criminal market due to technological advancements today. One might say this harm is
only affecting the individual user, but this is simply not true. Drugs use leads to
addictioncausing mental and physical damage to those who use them. However, the
power of addiction often leads to other heinous crimes and theft to support the habit.
Antidrug legislation and policies have been used to control the drug problem by
implanting stiffer penalties for drug offenses even in small quantities. Nevertheless,
the manufacture and distribution of large quantities can carry a sentence of 10 years
to life and $4 to $10 million dollar fine. Although
Difference Between Man And Women In Virginia Woolf s
To...
In To the Lighthouse, Virginia Woolf successfully denotes the discernible difference
in time perception regarding two genders man and woman. Man, particularly depicted
by Mr. Ramsay, perceives geologic time whereas woman, represented by Mrs.
Ramsay, holds the notion of time depending on consciousness.
To begin with, Mr. Ramsay sees timeas it goes by the clock due to his realistic
viewpoint on the world as well as his self centered concern. He realizes that time
lapses every minute the clock s finger move; therefore, he continually worries about
future, when his philosophic works might sink into oblivion. He expresses little
concern about trivial moment by flatly refusing his son s request to go to the
lighthouse. But , said his father [Mr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ramsay regards time dependent on consciousness rather than how it is measured
by the clock, due to her caring and profound characteristics. In contrast with Mr.
Ramsay, Mrs. Ramsay preserves every trivial moment, depicted through her
manners and thoughts at the seemingly everlasting wonderful dinner. She seems to
exert control over time, render the dinner in order and peaceful by subtly
comforting her guests as she believes it is a woman s duty to do so. It partook, she
felt, carefully helping Mr. Bankes to a specially tender piece, [...] so that again
tonight she had the feeling she had had once today, already, of peace, of rest (311).
Mrs. Ramsay s typical feminine traits of abundant consideration urges her to turn
temporary moment to psychological permanence. As Paul Tolliver Brown states in
Relativity, Quantum Physics, and Consciousness in Virginia Woolf s To the
Lighthouse , Mrs. Ramsay s greatest achievement of unification in the novel is
relativistic and occurs at the dinner table where she orders her environment like a
large body of mass influencing the curvature of spacetime. In other words, she seems
to distort the concept of time. Furthermore, Mrs. Ramsay embodies unorthodox
approach of time by regarding time as felt in mind rather than measured on the clock.
She depicts complex stream of consciousness to incorporate her inward feelings into
silent conversation; therefore, it creates an impression of time extending further

The Yellow Birds By Kevin Powers
Athletes train for countless hours in hopes to help their teams win games, but
sometimes they can t always come out on top. Students put in long hours studying
for tests attempting to earn a good grade. There are times where that effort is
rewarded with a poor grade. Gifts are bought with the idea that whoever is receiving
the present is going to love it, but the buyer realizes that they messed up because the
gift is absolutely hated. These are examples of instances where people were trying to
do good things but ultimately failed. In the novel, The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers
you see characters that have the intent to do good, but come up short and fail.
Everybody has instances throughout their lives where they will try extremely hard,
but fail in the end. A lot of these instances may even be just the smallest things, but
when they happen it is never a good feeling. You will get feelings of disappointment,
and anger, but the problems that occur in Kevin Power s book are much more than
that. The book The Yellow Birds is a fictional story, but the thing
that makes it so
good is that the author was in the warhimself. Even though this great story is made
up, Kevin Powers definitely had an advantage on explaining how powerful the war
really was on people. What was written in the book could be very similar to things
he had experienced himself while he served our country. Just by reading his fight
scenes he had written about, you can tell he knew what he was talking about

Peacemaking Criminology Research Paper
What is Peacemaking Criminology?
The process in the criminal justice that is currently used in the US is based on
solving conflicts with force, usually referred as fight fire with fire. The approach
used violence to solve crime related problems. Richard Quinney developed an
approach that tends to solve crime in a peaceful manner. He suggest that peace
keeping method can be used to create peace within the society. The normal process
of solving crime issues used violence to solve violence. Peacemaking approach
emphasizes on respecting the dignity of the individual. This process of solving crime
problems if used properly can be able to reduce the amount of crimes in the criminal
justice. This is because, the basic principle of this approach is to use non violent
approach to solve crimes hence is a long lasting solution.

sexual assault crime cases via transformative justice framework. By working with
both the survivors and perpetrators of sexual assault, the group aims to restore trust
and justice within the society. The perpetrators are held accountable of their
behaviour while at the same time trying to rebuild their relationship with the society.
The perpetrators are trained with the aim of changing their behaviour. The group
helps the survivors in the healing process by providing emotional support. A social
movement called critical resistance in the United States also practices transformative
justice by working towards dismantling the prison industrial complex. Examples of
countries that have embraced the application of peacemaking criminology are New
Zealand and Cuba in which they focus on transforming both the victim and
Mobile Computing Is And Ever Developing Way Of Life
Mobile computing is and ever developing way of life. It has given the business
professional the capability to take the office on the road. Now people do not need
a computer at home to be online. You can have the same capability with a tablet or
smart phone. Data plans for mobile devices also allow more people access to the
internet. Not all devices will run programs like a computer, but not every person
needs access to programs such as Microsoft Word or Excel. The typical user just
wants to check Facebook, maybe look at the local weather forecast or find a
restaurant to eat at. In this day and age it is ever easier to keep up with life s
momentum with mobile computing. Life in general has become more frantic and
fast paced over the last... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word computer was first recorded as being used in 1613 and was originally
was used to describe a human who performed calculations or computations
(Computer Hope). The first mechanical computer was invented back in the early
1800 s by Charles Babbage (Computer Hope). The Difference Engine, considered to
be the first automatic computing engine that was capable of computing several sets
of numbers and making hard copies of the results (Computer Hope). In modern terms
it was nothing more than a calculator with a paper roll.
With this concept it still took over a century for what would be the start of the
modern computer to come around. The Z1, originally created by Germany s Konrad
Zuse in his parents living room in 1936 to 1938 and is considered to be the first
electro mechanical binary programmable (modern) computer and really the first
functional computer (Computer Hope).
Today s mobile computing consists of an ever growing number of devices and it
seems like a new type of device comes out every few years or so. One of the great
advantages mobile computing has been able to enjoy is playing off the existing
technologies. Without advancement in computer field the mobile world would not
exist like it dose.
Mobile computers can usefully be divided into a number of categories. Firstly, many
mobile computers are laptops or basically portable versions of desktop PCs, and
usually based around the same type of
Peace Brought from the Modern Economic Structure
In the modern world the economic structure is believed to help lead to peace and
prosperity to all nations. It is stated that though Interdependent economies, when
economies become dependent upon trade from foreign nations, and Globalization, the
act in which nations begin to integrate their ideas and concepts with one another, war
and conflict can be mitigated. War is mitigated through the two phenomena due to the
growing tradebetween nations that demands for nations to agree and play nicely with
one another in order to continue this trade. This is additionally seen through the
effects that a lack of trade causes on the nations. But conflicts do not seem to be
effected in a meaningful way by the two phenomena. This is due to the broad
definition of conflicts that seems to encompass too many things to be completely
affected and the nature of conflict which is always possible with two separate groups.
Thus the modern world s economy with its Interdependence and Globalizationis able
to create peace but is unable to end conflict.
The way through which the world has become Interdependent and Globalized is
through international trade. Trade is the act through which two nations send each other
product for the others products. This allows for countries to gain economically since
they are selling their products for value. Countries then become Interdependent since
the trade networks are the basis of the economy for countries thus they need to trade
to keep the economy afloat.
Lotus F1 Team Essay
Formula one (F1) championship was the second most watched sporting event on the
planet, which estimated 110 million unique viewers per race. Lotus F1 team is one
of the most successful F1 team. It had won respectively 7 constructors world titles.
And it had won two world title. When they were fighting for third place in the
Championship, an awful news that the 2014 season would bring a bunch of
disruptive changes came out. What s worse, its best driver, Kimi Räikkönen, had
announced that he would leave the team at the end of the 2014 season.
This case mentioned many issues, like driver management issue, budget management
issue, and etc. In the following essay, I list two alternative to solve these issues, and
then I also give some criteria to evaluate these alternatives. In the end, I also give my
own way to implement my recommendations.
Problem Statement
Lotus F1 team was a British formula one racing team. It had a strong racing heritage
and had won two World Titles under the Renault name in 2005 and 2006. It had
contracts with two primary drivers and three test drivers. When Lotus F1 was fighting
for third place in the championship, a thunderbolt jumped out and posted a big and
common problem to every F1 team.
Three major problems were presented by this case: driver management issue, budget
management issue and product design issue. F1 drivers primary role was to pilot
the team s car with consistency and win points. A good driver is one of the most

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Futurisation
Introduction
Swaps in simple language means, the act of exchanging one thing for another. In
financial terms it means an agreement in which two parties agree to exchange
series cash flows at some future times according to terms stated in the agreement
(Chance and Brooks 2012). They are derivatives because their value is ascertained
from some other financial instrument, such as a loan or bond. Swaps are generally
priced based on a notional value, which is the dol¬lar value of a contract. The most
common type of swap is the interest rate swap in which the two parties agree to enter
into an agreement which involve the exchange of payments of fixed rate interest for
the payments of floating rate interest or vice versa in the same currency calculated by
reference to a mutually agreed notional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For examples this disparity may arise in fixed coupon rates. The company may be
exposed to other risk, if it does not have an exact or close enough match for the risk
being hedged. In realty these futures contract may not adequately hedge risk and this
would lead increase in earnings volatility and the company may face greater risk
(Banwait 2013).
Increased risk for clearing house
The margins on swap contract are calculated differently and are higher than futures
contract which has led to the migration of swaps to futures. The volume of
transactions cleared by futures clearing house has risen significantly as the
movement of swaps to futures take place. But as this volume increases, the futures
clearing house can be exposed to a greater risk of failure (Litan 2013).

Compare And Contrast Lordy And Two Scavengers In A
Truck
Royals by Lorde and Two Scavengers in a Truck, Two Beautiful People in a
Mercedes by Lawrence Ferlinghetti both discuss the limited amount of equal
opportunities available within today s structure of society. Both Lorde and
Ferlinghetti utilise poetic devices to express their perspective on the contrast
between the classes of today s society. Poetic devices evident within these poems are
imagery, repetition, structure, tone, and metaphors. Imagery is effectively utilised
within both Lorde and Ferlinghetti s poems which allows the reader to visualise the
contrast between the social classes, and then further understand the poet s
perspective on the topic. Within Ferlinghetti s work imagery is a predominant
poetic device, with it being evident throughout the entirety of the poem. An example
of imagery is seen in lines 10 13 discussing the wealthy man, the man / in a hip
three piece linen suit / with shoulder length blond hair and sunglasses, as well as in
lines 20 24 discussing the older garbage... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ferlinghetti s ending is the last stanza of lines 31 37, in which he also includes a
metaphor, And the very red light for an instant / holding all four close together / as
if anything at all were possible / between them / across that small gulf / in the high
sea / of this democracy. This metaphorical ending articulates how although there
appears to only be a small gap between social classes that seems possible to resolve,
it never will be within a democratic nation. Lorde s ending does not instil a message
in the same way as Ferlinghetti s as it is a stanza which is repeated three times
throughout the poem, therefore does not have the powerful impact of Ferlinghetti s.
Therefore, Ferlinghetti is able to greatly impact the reader with his ending in a more
effective way than Lorde, due to the singularity of the stanza within the

  • 1. Compare And Contrast Essay Outline Template Crafting an essay on the subject of a "Compare and Contrast Essay Outline Template" presents both challenges and opportunities for the writer. On one hand, the topic itself provides a clear framework, as it inherently demands a structured approach. However, this apparent simplicity can be deceptive, as the writer must navigate the intricacies of comparing and contrasting different elements while adhering to a predefined template. One of the initial challenges is to identify suitable subjects for comparison. It requires thoughtful consideration to select topics that not only share similarities but also exhibit significant differences. This process involves research and a deep understanding of the chosen subjects to ensure a meaningful and insightful analysis. Next, constructing a coherent outline becomes crucial. The template should facilitate a logical flow of ideas, allowing for a seamless transition between points of comparison. Ensuring a balance between similarities and differences, and arranging them in a manner that engages the reader, adds another layer of complexity to the task. The actual writing process demands precision and clarity. Expressing thoughts concisely while providing sufficient detail to support comparisons can be challenging. Striking the right balance is essential to avoid overwhelming the reader with information or leaving them with unanswered questions. Furthermore, maintaining a formal tone and adhering to the guidelines of academic writing poses its own set of challenges. The writer must be mindful of proper citation, avoiding plagiarism, and ensuring that the essay adheres to a standardized structure. In conclusion, writing an essay on the specified topic requires a blend of analytical skills, research capabilities, and the ability to articulate ideas effectively. While the template provides a roadmap, it is the writer's responsibility to navigate the intricate terrain of comparison and contrast. Success in this endeavor hinges on the writer's capacity to create a compelling narrative that not only adheres to the template but also engages and enlightens the reader. Their actions demonstrated the value of active and participatory democracy, which was to be incorporated in the new Constitution. New laws were passed which gave the poor access to health, education and basic services. Subsequent legislation saw laws dedicated to addressing sexism and intervening with the family. These laws were combined with affirmative action, measures focussing on poor and indigenous women to ensure that they receive the best treatment when it comes to loans, housing, health and education. In addition to rallies in local and national politics, women in Venezuela are also quickly reaching groundbreaking levels of economic empowerment under the administration of President ChГЎvez. The new Constitution set out important legal measures, including a donation to women who work at home, eligible for social security benefits. A key factor in the support of women s participation towards the economy is institutions. For example, Banmujer, the Women s Development Bank of Venezuela, is the only national financial institution of its kind. Banmujer gives small, low interest loans to women in order to help them form businesses. The goals of the bank are to create employment and reduce poverty among women, encourage women s participation in the economic and social transformations that are taking place as part of Venezuela s Bolivarian Revolution. Banmujer was established in honor of International Women s Day. On the fifth anniversary of that first loan, President

One rationale of why these trades have hurt the Reds program is how sudden the overall performance of the organization became worse. The Reds also traded away a large amount of talent, which was a key factor in their lineup, to dissolve their chances to compete with other teams in their league. While there are many who say that the trades that the Reds are making are the start of a rebuild, the trades... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the pitchers they traded for did not perform very well in their early seasons playing for the Reds. These pitchers, such as Cody Reed and John Lamb, had very bad statistics. According m.mlb.com, Cody Reed went 0 7 and had a 7.36 ERA in 2016 and John Lamb had a record of 1 7 with an ERA of 6.43 in 2016. With these statistics from players the Reds traded most of their franchise players for, the Reds pitching lowered the performance of their organization and these players will not be good enough to support their team. In conclusion, the people who believe that the Reds are going to start a rebuild with the players they traded for will not see the rebuild they were looking for because of the lack of talent they traded
  • 16. Dramatic Imagery In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood Truman Capote s book In Cold Blood, focuses on a small town in eastern Kansas where the slaughter of the Clutter family occurred. He uses many descriptors to give the town a bland look and uses dramatic irony throughout the whole first portion of the book. Through his imagery, diction, and rhetorical devices, he shows his feelings toward the town of Holcomb, Kansas. Although Capote portrays the town with many dull details, the viewpoint he gives the readers is an important part of the story; therefore, his purpose for writing the book wasn t for the glam details, but to show readers that looking at someone s life without knowing them can be far different than what you think. In the beginning of the book, Capote uses imagery to give his audience a look at what Holcomb consists of including; the type of people, the type of land, and how the building s appearance affected the citizens mood. The depot itself, with its peeling sulphur colored paint, is equally melancholy (Capote 3). He describes them all as bland and rundown as possible because in truth that is what they were. The local accent is barbed with a prairie twang, a ranch hand nasalness, and the men, many of them, wear narrow frontier trousers, Stetsons, and high heeled boots with pointed toes (Capote 3). The people talked and dressed and behaved like southern farmers because that is what they mostly were. For example, Mr. Clutter is a well known farmer who owned a large and impressive farm in the eyes of the

  • 22. Freedom Of Expression Contained Within The European... An essential role of a journalist is to act as a public watchdog and the media enjoys freedoms and protection in pursuit of this objective. Court reporting is fundamental to the principle of open justice that not only must justice be done; it must also be seen to be done. This common aim of media and the courts is met with some restrictions, of which contempt of court is most serious. For journalists, contempt can generally arise where an article prejudices a person s right to a fair trial. It is mostly covered by the Contempt of Court Act 1981, hereafter referred to as The Act , which was brought in to force in an attempt to strike a fair balance between the Article 6 right to a fair trial and Article 10 freedom of expression contained within the European Convention of Human Rights. It encourages responsible reporting while discouraging outside interference with justice. Scottish courts are viewed as comparatively harsh on contempt, but it is important for them to remain realistic. It is rare that a trial will be deserted on the basis of contempt of court, as courts are disinclined to allow appalling crimes to go unpunished due to inevitable publicity regarding them. In Cox Griffiths, Petitioners Lord Prosser stated that juries are healthy bodies. They do not need a germ free atmosphere . Contempt of court comes in numerous forms such as disobedience of a court order, unauthorised recording of court proceedings or murmuring judges . Where journalists

With the goal of avoiding religious bloodbath, what seemed to be a simple, quick fix solution for state separation posed a series of problems for Pakistan. The problem lay in the fact that there were two completely different nations that were forced to coalesce into one state. This dilemma can be seen with the fundamental differences between West and East Pakistan. Although East Pakistan contained a little over half (54.8%) of the total Pakistani population, it only took up about an eighth (15.1%) of the total land area. However, the disparities between the East and West do not end with land distribution. In both foreign aid and per capita income, West Pakistan dominated their Eastern counterpart. This economic disparity persisted during the ten years of Pakistani independence, and the per capita income actually worsened over a ten year period (between 1950 1960). The offices of the central Pakistani government were all located in the west, and recruitment for civil, military, and administrative positions were predominantly given to West Pakistanis. However, the key difference between West and East Pakistan lay in culture. Each respective region contained two spheres of peoples that were vastly different in regards to attitudes and ambitions. The West was a land of mountains and deserts, and its people mimicked the solidity and stability of its geographic features. The West Pakistanis were described to be energetic, and had fierce respect for government,

The Tar Creek Superfund site was once a large miningoperation. The mine started in the early 1900s and was still in use until as late as the 1970s. In To the Lighthouse, Virginia Woolf successfully denotes the discernible difference in time perception regarding two genders man and woman. Man, particularly depicted by Mr. Ramsay, perceives geologic time whereas woman, represented by Mrs. Ramsay, holds the notion of time depending on consciousness. To begin with, Mr. Ramsay sees timeas it goes by the clock due to his realistic viewpoint on the world as well as his self centered concern. He realizes that time lapses every minute the clock s finger move; therefore, he continually worries about future, when his philosophic works might sink into oblivion. Ramsay regards time dependent on consciousness rather than how it is measured by the clock, due to her caring and profound characteristics. In contrast with Mr. Ramsay, Mrs. Ramsay preserves every trivial moment, depicted through her manners and thoughts at the seemingly everlasting wonderful dinner. She seems to exert control over time, render the dinner in order and peaceful by subtly comforting her guests as she believes it is a woman s duty to do so. It partook, she felt, carefully helping Mr. Bankes to a specially tender piece, [...] so that again tonight she had the feeling she had had once today, already, of peace, of rest (311). Mrs. Ramsay s typical feminine traits of abundant consideration urges her to turn temporary moment to psychological permanence. As Paul Tolliver Brown states in Relativity, Quantum Physics, and Consciousness in Virginia Woolf s To the Lighthouse , Mrs. Ramsay s greatest achievement of unification in the novel is relativistic and occurs at the dinner table where she orders her environment like a large body of mass influencing the curvature of spacetime. In other words, she seems to distort the concept of time. Furthermore, Mrs. Ramsay embodies unorthodox approach of time by regarding time as felt in mind rather than measured on the clock. She depicts complex stream of consciousness to incorporate her inward feelings into silent conversation; therefore, it creates an impression of time extending further human s

  • 47. Peace Brought from the Modern Economic Structure In the modern world the economic structure is believed to help lead to peace and prosperity to all nations. It is stated that though Interdependent economies, when economies become dependent upon trade from foreign nations, and Globalization, the act in which nations begin to integrate their ideas and concepts with one another, war and conflict can be mitigated. War is mitigated through the two phenomena due to the growing tradebetween nations that demands for nations to agree and play nicely with one another in order to continue this trade. This is additionally seen through the effects that a lack of trade causes on the nations. But conflicts do not seem to be effected in a meaningful way by the two phenomena. This is due to the broad definition of conflicts that seems to encompass too many things to be completely affected and the nature of conflict which is always possible with two separate groups. Thus the modern world s economy with its Interdependence and Globalizationis able to create peace but is unable to end conflict. The way through which the world has become Interdependent and Globalized is through international trade. Trade is the act through which two nations send each other product for the others products. This allows for countries to gain economically since they are selling their products for value. Countries then become Interdependent since the trade networks are the basis of the economy for countries thus they need to trade to keep the economy afloat.

They are derivatives because their value is ascertained from some other financial instrument, such as a loan or bond. • 50. Compare And Contrast Lordy And Two Scavengers In A Truck Royals by Lorde and Two Scavengers in a Truck, Two Beautiful People in a Mercedes by Lawrence Ferlinghetti both discuss the limited amount of equal opportunities available within today s structure of society. Both Lorde and Ferlinghetti utilise poetic devices to express their perspective on the contrast between the classes of today s society. Poetic devices evident within these poems are imagery, repetition, structure, tone, and metaphors. Imagery is effectively utilised within both Lorde and Ferlinghetti s poems which allows the reader to visualise the contrast between the social classes, and then further understand the poet s perspective on the topic. Within Ferlinghetti s work imagery is a predominant poetic device, with it being evident throughout the entirety of the poem. An example of imagery is seen in lines 10 13 discussing the wealthy man, the man / in a hip three piece linen suit / with shoulder length blond hair and sunglasses, as well as in lines 20 24 discussing the older garbage... This metaphorical ending articulates how although there appears to only be a small gap between social classes that seems possible to resolve, it never will be within a democratic nation. Lorde s ending does not instil a message in the same way as Ferlinghetti s as it is a stanza which is repeated three times throughout the poem, therefore does not have the powerful impact of Ferlinghetti s. Therefore, Ferlinghetti is able to greatly impact the reader with his ending in a more effective way than Lorde, due to the singularity of the stanza within the
