Essays About Community Service
Writing an essay on the topic of "Essays About Community Service" can present both challenges
and opportunities. On one hand, community service is a broad and multifaceted subject, offering
numerous angles and perspectives to explore. On the other hand, the abundance of possibilities
might make it challenging to narrow down the focus and create a coherent narrative.
One difficulty lies in striking the right balance between personal experience and broader
reflections on the significance of community service. Too much emphasis on personal anecdotes
may risk sounding self-centered, while an overly theoretical approach may make the essay lose
its authenticity. The challenge is to weave a compelling narrative that not only showcases one's
own involvement in community service but also connects it to larger themes, such as social
responsibility, civic engagement, and the impact of collective efforts on society.
Furthermore, maintaining a clear and structured essay is essential. It requires a thoughtful
organization of ideas, logical transitions between paragraphs, and a well-defined thesis statement
that encapsulates the essence of the essay. Balancing depth and breadth of coverage is also key,
ensuring that the essay delves into meaningful details without becoming too verbose or losing
focus.
Research plays a crucial role in crafting an insightful essay on community service. Gathering
relevant information, statistics, and examples can strengthen the arguments and provide a solid
foundation for the writer's perspective. However, navigating through the vast array of sources
and discerning credible information can be a time-consuming task.
In essence, writing an essay on "Essays About Community Service" demands a blend of personal
reflection, critical analysis, and effective communication. It involves not only recounting one's
own experiences but also synthesizing broader themes and connecting them to the broader
societal context. While challenging, successfully navigating these elements can result in a
powerful and impactful essay that highlights the importance of community service.
If you find yourself struggling with such an essay or if time constraints are pressing, there are
alternative solutions. Services like HelpWriting.net offer assistance in crafting essays on a
variety of topics, ensuring that your ideas are communicated effectively and professionally. From
community service to diverse subjects, expert assistance is available to guide you through the

Stanfa s Game Theory
In the book, we see several sociological theories represented; however, the most
outstanding of them is the Game Theory . Game theory is a theory about social
interactions between people and how some see that interaction simply as a game.
The theory gained popularity in the 1980 s, though it was first created around the
1950 s. The sociological concept can often be related to sociopaths, which are
people with superficial charm, an irrational way of thinking, with a lack of
remorse, and tend to manipulate others to get what they want. In the book, we see
the mafia exhibit this theory. The earliest we see evidence of this is in the Prolog
on page 1. On April 29, 1993, Stanfa discusses that once it s been decided that
someone must be killed, they re already dead. See, they got already mixed in
concrete. In the bag, already mixed... Stanfa says, meaning that the mobsters given
the chore of killing said deadman will have to play nice until they get a good enough

That it is a necessity if a guy was a rat. And it s no honor when we kill one another.
Profaci says and continues with I mean, if this guy... I mean, if a guy s a rat or if a
guy... and Stanfa agrees with, Cause he deserve it. Yes. . However, as the mafia
came closer to it s fall there were several inner conflicts between people with
divided loyalty. On page 142, Stanfa talks about his paranoia of people inside the
mob wanting to kill him to become the new boss. He says Right now, I don t eat. I
don t sleep... I leave from the house, I no gonna say nothing to my wife. But I don t
even want a kiss goodbye because maybe I come out, maybe I no go back. .
Piccolo responds with These people here, they got one [f ] idea. They gonna take

Axis of Symmetry Axis of symmetry is a line going through a graph that separates
the parabola into two.
The axis of symmetry ia a vertical line through the vertex of the functions graph. The
quadratic function has the axis of symmetry x=h
Example
Every parabola has an axis of symmetry, the line that runs down its center. The line
divides the graph into two perfect halves. In the picture the axis of symmetry is line
x=1 Vertex
If a parabola opens upward, it has a lowest point. If a parabola opens downward, it
has a highest point. This lowest or highest point is called the Vertex of a parabola
The standard equation of a parabola is
But the equation for a parabola can also be written in vertex form
Example:
Find the vertex of the parabola.
y = 3x2 + 12x 12
So, the x coordinate of the vertex is:
a = 3 and b = 12.
Substituting in the original equation to get the y coordinate, we get:
y = 3( 2)2 + 12( 2) 12 = 24
So, the vertex of the parabola is at ( 2, 24).

Dance Admission Essay Sample
Through exploration of the world around us, one s passions are born. Passions make
a person who they are. Who I am is shown through my passion for dance, service and
exploration.
When I was five I was introduced to Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance.
Learning to move to the music and create beautiful expression of emotion and art, I
fell in love with dance. It became my medium of free expression. After moving to
the US, dance was a cultural root I needed to help me adjust. In a time when I was
questioning my identity, dance allowed the opportunity to stay close to my heritage.
Although the time spent dancing has decreased in the past couple of years, my love
for dance is constant. While at Hopkins, I want to join Shakti, a student dance group,
to continue creating the art I love so much and expand my horizons by learning
different styles of dance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Dog Wood Play
I have read the book and saw this play at the Dog Wood park. When I first time to
read this play I feel it is boring. However, I was fascinated by this play last night.
Even though it performed by a small stage and didn t have some light effect.
However, the costume and the stage tool were really good. And the players are
excellent. Especially, I like the player who acted the mother in law. It is a tragic
play. When I saw it I was so sad. It impacted me so much. perhaps it may change my
attitude to the love. Even though they love each other, but they can not stay together.
The writer s poetic langue was so confused but it was beautiful. For me the theme of
this play is that the gender roles and the social class of marriage and family. This play
explored the limiting situation for women living Spain. And the how tragic ran
through their family.
The background of the blood wedding was in the 1930. During the civil war. This
play looked like a compelling love triangle, and it started with the bridegroom s
mother introduced some something. I could not follow this section because of not
listening clearly. And then Leonardo s wife tried to told him to remain with his
son, but it was not useful. Leonardo was still in love with the bride, and the bride

Disadvantages Of Cell Phones
Cell phones have become a shield where individuals can hide behind when they are
trying to avoid human interaction. Thus, there is a sense of comfort when one is
holding their phone. This becomes troublesome as it takes away from personal
connections that could have otherwise been made when one puts down their phone
(Lepp, Li, Barkley, 2016, p. 407). However, there are times where cell phones can be
beneficial for maintaining relationships, such as when one cannot meet face to face
and when one does not have the confidence or language skills to make plans with
someone unless done behind a screen (Pierce, 2009, p. 1368; Conti Ramsden, Durkin,
Simkin, 2010, p. 197). It is important to note, that throughout my observations,
especially while memoing and coding I discovered that cell phones were more of a
barrier than an opportunity to establish and strengthen relationships. Additionally, the
data I found at the University of Windsor in the CAW cafeteria very much resembled
two scholarly journal articles: Social Anxiety and Technology and Mobile Voice
Communication and Loneliness, which made me appreciate not only the time and
effort that was taken to publish these articles, but also my own research experience.
In sum, I hope that my work emphasizes the influence that smartphones have in
regards to human contact. Based on my memoing and coding I found that cell phones
have their advantages as well as their disadvantages when it comes to human
interactions. For instance, in

Unprotected Sex Research Paper
STD s and unprotected sex are both of a large concern to me. I think that in our
society, however, they are sometimes downplayed, and the views of these definitely
differ from person to person. I think that people engage in this behavior without
protection because they just want to experience pleasure, and are not considering the
consequences in the moment. This could be because of the influence of peers,
society, or something like alcohol influencing the choice. Also, I think that many
people are really in denial about the consequences of doing this. More specifically, I
think they think that they won t ever get an STD, as if it is something foreign to
them, when in fact, it is very much possible and common. The same thing goes with

extensive history of commercial, shipping, and industrial activities. There are also
significant amounts of natural and cultural resources. In 1997, a mutual study
conducted by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revealed that sediments in the harbor were
contaminated with DDT, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), petroleum, and

Also , this is a generation where almost everyone has a smartphone and hence many
of us confuse multithreading and multitasking as similar.
Almost all mobiles are Dual Core or Quad Core and this therefore means that the
mobile has either 2 or 4 CPU s which are capable of executing different instructions at

The different threads can hereby run in parallel on different CPUs which can help

The Four Principles Of Mission Command
According to Army ADP 6 0, Mission command is the exercise of authority and
direction by the commander using mission orders to enable disciplined initiative
within the commander s intent to empower agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct
of unified land operations. Effective mission command can generally be analyzed
according to the six principles outlined in ADRP 6 0. The six principles of mission
command are: build cohesive teams through mutual trust, create shared
understanding, provide a clear commander s intent, exercise disciplined initiative, use
mission orders, and accept prudent risk. This paper provides a brief overview of the

Bragg was unable to successfully implement the first principle of mission
command: build cohesive teams through mutual trust. He also had a history of not
utilizing the sixth principle of mission command: take prudent risk. Bragg s lack
of competence regarding these two mission command principles ultimately set
conditions for a poor mission command climate within General Bragg s unit. Bragg
s sub commanders, Generals Hindman, Buckner, Polk, Longstreet, and Hill were
all skeptical of Bragg s leadership and battle plans from his previous campaign at
Chattanooga where he retreated from the city. Bragg was well known for retreating
at the first Battle of Chattanooga, and also for predictably employing frontal assault
offensive tactics. His history of predictable plans, retreats, and inability to take
prudent risk caused his subordinate leaders not lose trust in his ability to plan and
lead his Army. One of Bragg s sub commanders, General Hill, stated about Bragg s
confidence and poor sub commander relationships:
He was silent and reserved and seemed gloomy and despondent. He had grown
prematurely old since I saw him last, and showed much nervousness. His relations
with his next in command (General Polk) and with some others of his subordinates
were known not to be pleasant Bragg had built a poor reputation amongst his
The Pros And Cons Of An Appropriate Age For Drinking
What s an appropriate age for drinking?
There has been a debate among individuals about what is an appropriate age for
drinking? Some people encourage and believe that the law of alcohol consumption
should be lowered from 21 years of age to 18. They believe that there are a lot of
pros to lowering the age of drinking. On the other hand, some people believe that
the law should stay and not be changed. The effects of lowering the age of drinking
would also have many cons and cause more damage in the long run. So, how can we
look at this debate and come to a resolution?
In 1984 the government, made it illegal for individuals under 21 years of age to
consume alcohol. But, many states didn t want to approve the law and follow the
requirements. Nevertheless, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There really isn t truth to that, because you can have an 18 year old act more
responsible than a 21 year old. Many argue what s the difference between an 18
and a 21 year old. Can three years make such a difference in someone s decision.
So, why not have the choice to drink alcohol and make that decision on your own
and not through the government? That s what many argue. In 2009 a study was
done by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 35 percent of fatal
traffic accidents due to drinking and driving were due to people between the age
21 24. All fatal alcohol related accidents involved people between the ages of 21
44. Looking at the study what would happen to the numbers. Would they increase
or decrease if the law was changed? Most likely it would increase imagine having an
18 year old get their license and be permitted to consume alcohol. Doesn t sound
like a good mix. MLDA 21 reduces traffic accidents and fatalities. In a 2002 meta
study of the legal drinking age and traffic accidents found higher legal drinking
ages associated with lower rates of traffic accidents. The National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration(NHTSA) estimated that MLDA 21 decreased the number of
fatal traffic accidents for 18 to 20 olds by 13% and saved approximately 27,052 lives

I had originally considered Python as a programming langauge, due to the breadth
of libraries of all kinds. This led me to consider Theano and Caffe as potential
neural network libraries. Caffe is written in C++, with interfaces for Python and
MATLAB. However, it seemed to be targeted mostly towards deep learning
networks, with a focus on image processing, and this made it seem quite complicated
for the type of neural network I would be considering. Theano is written in Python,
and has a large amount of documentation and functionality. If I were to have used
Python, I would have likely used Theano, as it provides a large amount of
functionality directly accessible from Python, whereas to extend
Caffe could require modifications to the C++ source. Ultimately, due to the decision
to use Java (a choice explored further in В§[language]

less choice of neural network libraries in Java, but given my prior experience with it,
it is an easier language to program in.
Neuroph provided a simple view of Neurons and Connections comprising a

What Is The Innocence Of The Middle Ages
The Middle Ages, also known as the Dark Ages started when the Roman Empire
collapsed. When the empire fell laws went away, trade stopped and civilization
collapsed along with it. Civilization had to start anew and as you would guess, it was
not easy. Another reason it is referred as the Dark Ages because we do not know
much about what happened during this period of time. Many important documents
did not survive, making it lost in history. This time lasted around the time from the
fifth to the fifteenth century. The Middle Agesended with the start of the Renaissance
period.

It was an orderly system that was based on land holding and military services. In
feudalism peasants were separated into three statuses those being slaves,
serfdoms, and free peasants. An example of serfdom would be villages acquiring
protection and in return they would serve under the one who is handling the
protection. Many villages adopted serfdom and relied heavily on it. Peasants often
offered their service in return for land, another example of serfdom. Free peasants
were people who were not under rule. While they had free will, they had no
protection. They were pretty much left to provide for themselves. In order for
someone to become a free peasant they must flee to a city and stay hidden for exactly
one year and one day. Feudalism strengthened during the time Charlemagne, also

Henry V Rhetorical Analysis
Emily Albertell
Professor Romack
ENL 4333: Shakespeare

From Rowdy to Rhetorical: Shakespeare s Henry V
Shakespeare s Henry V presents a man transformed from rowdy teenager to
righteous king. With the death of Henry s father, Henry s wildness.../Seemed to die
too (1.1.26 27). While Henry has seemingly transformed into a powerful man
awarded praise, his actions at times seem morally questionable and disingenuous as
he continually deflects blame on others and contradicts his notions for peace.
Throughout the play, Henry s speeches persuade and manipulate audiences as he
effectively uses the power of rhetoric to achieve his goals. He has the power to
intimidate his enemies, uplift his soldiers, and mold himself into whoever he needs
to be. With the change of Henry s character came a greater title and the responsibility
for an entire nation, causing him to abandon his outwardly destructive behavior and
dissemble. Shakespeare thus contends that there is a difference between being a
good person and a successful leader; national heroism and effective kingship is not
necessarily attained through moral actions, but rather through the art of powerful
rhetoric and the ability to seem moral and virtuous rather than to be moral and
virtuous, thereby mimicking some characteristics of how a successful ruler should
appear, as suggested in Machiavelli s The Prince. While Henry is certainly ruthless
at times, his ability to assume the roles necessary for successful leadership is what
makes him a great king.
In Henry V, Henry uses the power of his rhetoric to achieve his goals and to
effectively communicate with nobility, commoners, churchmen, and enemies. Henry
claims to have once assumed the role of a commoner as he threatens the Dauphin,

Analysis Of On Noise Essay
On Noise, is a stoic piece composed by Seneca who was raised in Rome during the
first century AD. On Noise explores an aspect of humanity that is surprisingly
appropriate for our current times, how it is part of human nature to become
distracted. Seneca explores the fascinating idea of how it is human nature to be
distracted and that we must busy ourselves with tasks or succumb to the danger of
being overcome by the distractions or the noise that surrounds us, he does through
the extended metaphor of the obvious distractions of sound and by using the
scenario of busy street in everyday life, for the sake of this essay we will take the

writers such as Ovid or Pliny could spend days on single sentences trying to

The Dissonances Of God And God In The Iliad
Some of the things that define an individual and its behavior are the culture and
ideals in its residence. These ideals and culture prove that each and everyone one
of us is unique. For example, an ideal Greek citizen is versatile, clever, a leader, an
orator, adaptable and tricky while an ideal Hebrew citizen is wise, obedient, studious,
righteous, inadequate, and is able to converse with God. In Hebrew literature, God is
just and merciful and the humans are inadequate. On the other hand, in Greek
literature, gods are powerful and self centered, and the humans are the ones
responsible for the community. The difference between the two is apparent, and
considering these evident differences, we can also reason out that the way how the

her, and she wanted Ruth to have a companion. When Naomi learned that the
person Ruth had worked for was Boaz, a kinsman, she thought that Boaz could be
Ruth s redeemer that was why she sent her daughter in law to Boaz. Daughter, is it
not my duty to see you happily settled? And Boaz, the man with whose work
women you were, is he not our kinsman? Tonight he will be winnowing the barley

Early music from America
Music with influence from Europe always uses a number of instruments, together
with vocalists and choirs. In some instances, the most current instruments like electric
guitars are used together with the traditional instruments of an orchestra. One
prominent artist within this field was Hildegard of Bingen. Hildegard was always
known as a very influential nun during the time of middle ages and developed a
number of compositions that had unearthly beaury. One of such great composition is

Composers like Amy Beach did counter this by generating very nice and serious
music (Burkholder Grout, 2014). Amy Beach usually composes Romantic classical
music, which majority is yet to compare with that of composers such as Brahmns.
This music worked both unintentionally and intentionally to assist the new America
nation to seal its cultural identity separately from the European countries. One great
example of this kind of compositions is Beach s Gaelic Symphony, the kind of
musical elements which pay honor to the Scottish and Irish settlers who played great
role in the history of America (Monson Marvin, 2013).
Tin Pan Alley music
Tin Pan Alley music rose to the fame at the start of the 20th century, the same time
the United States was starting its meteoric rise to cultural greatness that is enjoying
currently. This music always appear very bright and happy. Composers like
Gershwin were well known for developing pieces that were brooding and dark. That
is to say, they were music that had exuded optimism. Rhapsody in Blue, by Gershwin
is one of the prominent and most innovative piece that arose from this genre. Within
this music, Gershwin blended jazz and classical music to come up with a very unique
style of music (Monson

short paragraph that defines VO2max, explains what it measures and describes
some of the most important ways that it can be used in health and sport. VO2max
can be defined as the maximum oxygen uptake. This entails the maximum rate at
which oxygen is readily available in the body to be taken up and used during
aerobic exercise. (Fletcher et al.) It is a very important and commonly used
indicator of a person or athletes level of cardiovascular fitness. A high VO2max
demonstrates a high level of aerobic fitness, where as a low VO2max indicates a
low rate of aerobic fitness. There are two factors that are important in determining
a persons VO2max, which are the hearts ability to deliver oxygen to the muscles
and the muscles ability to extract the oxygen from the blood and use it (Brown,
Miller and Eason). This means that when a person has a high VO2max their body is
able to deliver oxygen through the blood efficiently to the muscles in order to
maintain high levels of aerobic exercise over an extended period of time. VO2max is
a valued measurement of cardiovascular fitness in the Sport industry due to its ability
to indicate cardiovascular fitness, as well as the pulmonary and muscular systems
efficiency throughout the duration of the exercise (Brown, Miller and Eason). There
are multiple tests that can measure VO2max
The Pros And Cons Of The Treaty Between Spain And
Portugal
The Treaty between Spain and Portugal was signed on September 4th in 1479
between the Catholic Monarchs of Castile and Aragon on one side and Afonso V
and his son, Prince John of Portugal, on the other side. It put an end to the War of
the Castilian Succession, which ended with a victory of the Catholic Monarchs on
land and a Portuguese victory on the sea. The peace treaty was signed at
AlcГЎГ§ovas. The audience for the Treaty between Spainand Portugalwas the people
of higher power. In Spain the higher power that the treaty applied to was king and
queen of Castile, Leon, Aragon, Sicily, Toledo, Valencia, Galicia, Majorca, Seville,
Sardinia, Cordova, Corsica, Murcia, Jaen, the Algarves, Algeciras, and Gibraltar;
count and countess of Barcelona; lord and lady of Biscay and Molina; duke and
duchess of Athens and Neopatras; count and countess of Roussillon and Cerdagne;
marquis and marchioness of Oristano and Gociano. The higher power in Portugal
was the King and Queen of Portugal and the Algarves. The Treaty between Spain and
Portugal was also for anyone in the council of both parties and the Catholic Monarchs.
The overall argument for the treaty between Spain and Portugal was Joanna la
Beltraneja, Queen of Portugal, and Alfonso V, King of Portugal, gave away their
rights to the Castilian throne in favor to the Catholic Monarchs, who gave Joanna and
Alfonso the throne of Portugal. Another agreement in the treaty was the sharing of
the Atlantic territories between the two countries. The treaty also was made to
manifest who gets what land. Portugal recognized Castile s rights over the Canary
Islands but Portugal was able to win the navigating, conquering and trading in all the
Atlantic Oceansouth of the Canary Islands. To this day, The Treaty between Spain
and Portugal can be seen as a landmark in the history of colonialism. It is one of the
first international documents that shows how the European s purpose was to
separate the world and colonize the territories located within their areas, and that any
indigenous peoples living there are not asked for their consent. This could be seen as
a general accepted principle in the ideology and practice of European powers up to
the 20th century decolonization. The treaty

America have introduced technology as a natural element of the classroom. Young
learners have become part of the iGeneration in which the use of technology comes
to be a natural way of learning, interacting with others and making sense of the
world (Pellerin, 2012). In regards to documentation and assessment, there have been
different digital tools that are creating a new way of evaluating and observing how
children learn. According to research by Pellerin (2012), assessment for the 21st
century learning and teaching requires a shift from assessment of learning toward
assessment strategies for learning. In order for teachers to understand assessment
strategies for learning they must see documentation under a new digital perspective.
Documentation now includes gathering of tangible evidence from a variety of
means such as learning stories, photographs, video and audio recordings of the
students learning process (ELECT, 2007). Effective documentation will not only
gather information but also tell a story and purpose of an event, experience, or
development. In a digital era, technology tools and applications like Ipads and Ipods
are creating a learning experience for children, teachers and families unlike any other
tools in the past. In the 21 century, almost every educator and adult in North America

Causes Of The Revolution Of 1848
The revolution of 1848 was a great disappointment to both Karl Marx and Alexis de
Tocqueville. To Marx, the revolution should have been a step along the way to
socialism, with the bourgeoisie capitalists overthrowing the previous landed feudal
society. In turn, the proletariat would rise and bring both the end of class antagonism
and the beginning of the socialist state. To Tocqueville, the revolution was about the
reduction in the power of the aristocracy, as the lower classes were on their way up.
This broadening equality must necessarily give rise to democracy, with all its hopes
and shortfalls. Yet the revolution ended not in socialismor democracy, but with an
emperor. Marx and Tocqueville may have had different ideas on how and why a
society should conduct itself, but both found the revolution of 1848 and its resolution
a disappointment. Marx takes a very materialist view of the revolution. The July
Monarchy of Louis Phillipe was a largely bourgeois government. Louis Phillipe was
tied to the banking bourgeoisie and the laws that came out of his government were
largely to their benefit. He is in competition with the Bourbon interests, who favor the
landed aristocracy. These two groups, those who have the capital and those who have
the land work against each other, and this struggle is the beginning for the revolution.
Marx says each side opposing the other wasn t about Orleans monarchy against
Bourbon monarchy but that it meant nothing else than that each of the two

how fly fishing is a religion to certain people. People will travel the world to see in

topics that were not traditionally considered religious. David Chidester and Robert

Against Super PACs Essay
The next presidential election will be one like no one has ever seen before in
terms of campaign funding and expenses. Even now, the GOP Presidential Primary
races are already showing signs of how money will not be an object for their
presidential candidate. The seemingly limitless budget exists for these candidates
thanks to the so called Super PACs (Political Action Committees). These Super PACs
are allowed to come up with independent financing for the presidential campaign,
sans any budgetary ceilings. The inner workings of such a committee has left a bad
taste in the mouths of the voters even though very little is known about the actual
history and reasons for the existence of the Super PACS. This paper will delve into

That is one reason why the public has come to reject the idea of the Super PACs. It
has the turned the political campaign into a shallow, reality television, mud
slinging type of contest from which the candidates can never return. The ads being
run in the newspapers, television, and radio stations cost these candidates and
Super PACs money that could have been used for better political means such as
contributions to charitable organizations by the candidates or their support groups
on their behalf. That sort of act would have had a greater political impact upon the
voting public than an ad campaign explaining the ills of Newt Gingrich. Even
more sickening, is the fact that most of the candidates will feign knowledge of
participation in any negative campaign movements because of the independent
nature of the Super PACs. The candidate can deny any involvement in the act all
the while coordinating with his Super PAC under the radar of mass media. These
negative campaigns leave the candidate free and clear of any involvement as all
the Super PAC has to do is run the ad with a clear disclaimer absolving the
candidate the ad supports of any wrong doing because the ad was not sanctioned by
the candidate or political party. In other words, Super PACs gives a voice to people
with money. All corporations that have money to give, are giving millions and
millions of dollars to the candidates across the board. Independent voters don t have
that money to donate, so their

The Election Of A Black President
The election of a black president was a happy, yet shocking time for many Black
people in America. I never thought that I would live to see the election of a person
who has the same skin color as me. I realize that even we had elected a Black
president it took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to do this. Many people in the past
suffered so that we would be able to elect someone who represented millions of
American based on skin color. However, there was a long road ahead for Black people
and they eventually were able to get the right to vote. Black men were the for
people who were allowed to vote then women. Even though laws were passed so
that Black people could vote there were plenty of obstacles put in the way to
hinder their effort to do so. Some politician engaged Black people to vote for them
because they viewed them as a voting population that could be used. So in 1920
presidential candidate Warren G. Harding held a Colored Voters Day. He pandered to
black people stating that blacks should not be lynched and if the military could not
stop segregation in the military American is no democracy. Once he was elected with
the help of black people he essentially abandoned all the promises he made to this
voting block. This was one of the many promises made to help the betterment of
Black people that did not come into fruition. In the1928 presidential election neither
major political party made an effort to get black votes. Economic times had begun to
worsen on the black

Positive Effects of the British Colonization of India Essay
Many positive things happened during, and as a result of, the British colonization of
India. When the East India Company took control of India in 1612, they began
modernizing, westernizing, and industrializing India. This westernization included
giving women more rights, an attempt to eliminate the caste system and the loss of
many of the more backward Hindu religious beliefs such as the domination of
women by men and denying an entire class of people any rights. British occupation
also did things long term for India. The modern technology and western customs
allowed India to become a burgeoning regional superpower. The colonization of

Some of these students, such as the political activist Mahatma Gandhi, were able to
travel England to study at some of the most prestigious universities in the world. It is
a fact that to be a successful, innovative country you need an educated population
base; the building of these British schools facilitated this. The westernization of India
was beneficial to India. The most influential thing was the introduction of
Enlightenment ideas and a western style democracies; which has proven to be one of
the most successful models in history. This made them one of the most effective
colonies and post colonial countries. One of the best examples of western political
thought surfacing in India was the formation of the Indian National Congress. The
Indian National Congress was made up of western educated Indians, who had been
taught the ways of the enlightenment. They initially advocated for self rule within the
British Empire. After the Amritsar Massacre in which the soldiers hired by the East
India Trading Company fired on unarmed protesters, they began protesting for
complete independence from Britain. The system they wanted to install to run India
was a Western Style democracy/republic. The Indian National Congress is still in
existence today and played an instrumental role in setting up India s current
democratic government. Another good policy that was spawned out of
westernization was the idea that
Causes That Lead To PI Resistance In HIV-1
The multi step inhibition mechanism of PIs can result in complex mutation pathways
that lead to PI resistance in HIV 1. The cause of virological failure in patients taking
PIs are drug resistance mutations outside the active site of HIV 1 protease, but rather
throughout the matrix and capsid proteins of the Gag polyprotein in HIV1. While the
mutational pathway that leads to resistance to PIs in HIV 1 is not yet fully
understood, mutations in Gag polyproteins have been shown to be associated with
changes in PI susceptibility with or without mutations in HIV 1 protease. Mutations
in Gag L449F mutation, for example, has been seen to rescue HIV 1 protease
activity and increase overall efficiency of catalytic Gag polyprotein cleavage,... Show

Analyzing the three dimensional distribution of coevolving Gag residues, Codoner
et al found that the correlated residues in the matrix are clustered on the inner
surface on the trimer. As these surfaces were previously associated with interactions
between gp41, a subunit of HIV 1 envelope protein, and the matrix, Codoner et al.
concluded that these mutated residues are representative of novel interprotein
interactions that modifies matrix stability in order to affect viral fusogenicity. This
is further supported by several coevolving p17 residues (residues 66, 69, and 98)
were also previously shown to be contributed to matrix stabilization and the
incorporation of viral envelope proteins into immature viral particles. Thus, Codoner
et al hypothesized that coevolving residues in HIV 1 matrix may affect HIV 1
resistance to PIs by modifying particle maturation and viral fusogenicity (Codoner et
al, 2017).
Studying the molecular basis of Gag protease coevolution, Ozen et al. found that
coevolved Gag protease complexes were also able to restore protease active site
dynamics by increasing Gag protease interactions. Under selective pressures of PIs,
Ozen et al. found that

Developing a Health Advocacy Campaign
Living a long, thriving and healthy life is a vision many Americans strive to make
into a reality. Unfortunately, HIV/AIDS epidemic has deprived many people of
this dream. HIV/AIDS is one of the worlds most serious and the deadliest diseases
and a $30.4 billion drain on healthcare cost in the United States, and of this figures
57% is appropriated for routine care, 10% for housing and social support assistance,
9% for research and 22% for global assistance to address the epidemic (The Henry J.

The Role Of Football In H. G. Bissinger s Friday Night
Lights
For many people, football is not just a sport. The book Friday Night Lights by H.G.
Bissinger is set in Odessa, Texas where thousands of people would line up to buy
tickets for the Permian Panthers football games, not because they enjoyed watching
football, but because of the hope and inspiration that resonated throughout the field
during a game. Even the players were able to recognize this feeling of invincibility
because whatever they fantasized about, it all seemed possible that day when they
were playing football(24). Football becomes an outlet for the fans that draws the
attention away from the complexities of their lives and directs it towards a game that
promotes innocence and hope for them. Football transforms Odessa from a bleak,

One of the main reasons people in Odessa were always so crazy about football was
because they needed an escape from the complications in their everyday lives.
Odessa was considered a boom and bust oil town, where sometimes the town was
prosperous and produced a plentiful amount of oil while at other times it
experienced a decline in resources, which could cause a large amount of
unemployment for the town. This made Odessa a transient town, a place to come
to and make money when the boom was on and then get as far away from as
possible with the inevitable setting in of the bust (29). Because of this uncertainty in
the economy, many people were not doing as well as they might have been doing in
another town, but despite this, they did not move away for one common reason: the
Permian Panthers. The fans in Odessa were not paying to see a

through Cornell notes, which were tedious at first, but I realized that it helped a lot
when I actually put my project together. I used a variety of sources, mostly from
credible websites.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was time to put all of the research I had done in the form of an exhibit. Before
doing the exhibit, I made a layout of what was most probably going to go on my
final poster. Even though I had the layout, I still encountered some problems. I
would have had run into so many more problems if I hadn t done the layout, so I
am glad that I did it. Right before putting my project together, I quickly went to the
store to get the materials like the poster board, glue, clay for the artifacts, etc. Now
that I had all the materials, I was finally set to complete the enormous project. One
of the problems I encountered was that I didn t have enough room on my poster
board for everything that I needed. Because of this, I decided to reprint some of the
items, so that I could fit everything. Another problem I ran into was that I could not
fit my title on one page, so I decided to print it on multiple pages and just glue them
together. After I was finished with cutting and pasting, I realized that I did pretty
well. I also realized that after I finished my project that I did not have to color the
sketch of a train that I drew because most of my pictures were black and white
anyway. After finishing my poster board, I had to create my 3D artifacts. I decided
to make a replica of the locomotive part of the Transcontinental Railroad out of
cardstock, a small part of the railroad tracks out of clay, and a
Comparing Universal Robots (A. U. R) And Interstellar
Although there is not a vast amount of knowledge on the topics of robots, here is
what we do know. The word, robot is a generalized term that includes machines
such as the following: cyborgs, artificial intelligence (A.I.), and androids. These
robots are essentially mechanical objects or beings that are built and programmed
by humans for humans. Therefore, they are ideally limited to the capabilities
programmed into them. Robots are created with the intention of being useful
companions to society, but they may also become destructive. Overall, as
knowledge grows in this area of expertise, robots will simultaneously advance.
Rossum s Universal Robots (R.U.R), a 1920s play, and Interstellar, directed by
Christopher Nolan, are two great works that use the concept of robots. In both
storylines, a relationship is depicted between the technology of robots and the
culture of humans. I argue that in both texts there is a significant relationship
between robots and humans and the slightly contrasting roles they play in (R.U.R)
and Interstellar. This relationship is predicated on three factors. The first factor is
that the robots are built based upon the ideals and knowledge base of humans. The
second factor is the idea of human inferiority vs. robot superiority that is a question
of why this belief exists and if the superior party recognizes it. The third factor is
whether these robots want to become human and the role they play in the
advancement or downfall of society. In
Burning The United States Flag
Burning the United States Flag Through the years of America, there have been
multiple accounts of flag desecration. Flag desecration is a term that is used to
describe a various set of acts that intentionally destroy, damage, or mutilate a flag in
public, and in this case, the American flag. Citizen s typically doing this treasonous
act when they want to make a political point against their country or policies in the
country or another country. Some of these actions include: burning it, urinating or
defecating on it, defacing it with slogans, stepping upon it, damaging it with stones or
guns, cutting or ripping it, verbally insulting it, or dragging it on the ground. A few
countries have laws that forbid the methods or just uses of this... Show more content

The court said the government cannot carve out a symbol of unity and prescribe a
set of approved messages to be associated with that symbol . . . The court also said
that the flag burning did not cause or threaten to cause a breach of the peace. After
this happened, Texas asked the Supreme Court to look at their situation and
Johnson s case. In result to this case, the majority of the court noted that the Texas
law discriminated upon the law. They feel that this act might bring up anger in
other people and more flag burning. The majority of the court also agreed that
Johnson had the right to use that form of symbolic speech because it is protected
by the first amendment. They find this act is very offensive, but the society s
outrage alone is not justification for depressing Johnson s freedom of speech. The
first amendment, as written in the constitution, forbids the abridgement of speech
, but we have not taken upon the writing that it spreads past spoken and written.
Any citizen has the wright to use his or her form of speech in his or way of
choosing. These forms can be in words, or written down on paper. These ways of
speech can also be used in actions, and these actions can express an idea of language
as well. When Johnson decided to burn the American flag, he was using his form of
speech to get his point across to the new president. When the state came after him,
they were in the wrong because of this amendment. Because of this, it was

sunk cost. The consultant is being hired to assist with the decision as to whether to
invest in either project or not. This cost will be incurred before the decision for
either project is made and is not incremental to either project. Consequently, it is
considered a sunk cost. In addition, the inter company charge for the computer time
is not an incremental cash flow to the firm. Consequently, it is really an internal

annual cost savings. On the surface, the NPV is more sensitive to changes in cost
savings than the initial investment based on the assumed range of changes. In
fairness, the variation in annual cash flows of 40% is over two times larger than the
variation allowed for in the initial investments (15%). A more meaningful comparison
could be obtained by adjusting the two factors

  • 1. Essays About Community Service Writing an essay on the topic of "Essays About Community Service" can present both challenges and opportunities. On one hand, community service is a broad and multifaceted subject, offering numerous angles and perspectives to explore. On the other hand, the abundance of possibilities might make it challenging to narrow down the focus and create a coherent narrative. One difficulty lies in striking the right balance between personal experience and broader reflections on the significance of community service. Too much emphasis on personal anecdotes may risk sounding self-centered, while an overly theoretical approach may make the essay lose its authenticity. The challenge is to weave a compelling narrative that not only showcases one's own involvement in community service but also connects it to larger themes, such as social responsibility, civic engagement, and the impact of collective efforts on society. Furthermore, maintaining a clear and structured essay is essential. It requires a thoughtful organization of ideas, logical transitions between paragraphs, and a well-defined thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the essay. Balancing depth and breadth of coverage is also key, ensuring that the essay delves into meaningful details without becoming too verbose or losing focus. Research plays a crucial role in crafting an insightful essay on community service. Gathering relevant information, statistics, and examples can strengthen the arguments and provide a solid foundation for the writer's perspective. However, navigating through the vast array of sources and discerning credible information can be a time-consuming task. In essence, writing an essay on "Essays About Community Service" demands a blend of personal reflection, critical analysis, and effective communication. It involves not only recounting one's own experiences but also synthesizing broader themes and connecting them to the broader societal context. • 2. Stanfa s Game Theory In the book, we see several sociological theories represented; however, the most outstanding of them is the Game Theory . Game theory is a theory about social interactions between people and how some see that interaction simply as a game. The theory gained popularity in the 1980 s, though it was first created around the 1950 s. The sociological concept can often be related to sociopaths, which are people with superficial charm, an irrational way of thinking, with a lack of remorse, and tend to manipulate others to get what they want. In the book, we see the mafia exhibit this theory. The earliest we see evidence of this is in the Prolog on page 1. On April 29, 1993, Stanfa discusses that once it s been decided that someone must be killed, they re already dead. See, they got already mixed in concrete. In the bag, already mixed... I mean, if a guy s a rat or if a guy... and Stanfa agrees with, Cause he deserve it. Yes. . However, as the mafia came closer to it s fall there were several inner conflicts between people with divided loyalty. On page 142, Stanfa talks about his paranoia of people inside the mob wanting to kill him to become the new boss. He says Right now, I don t eat. I don t sleep... I leave from the house, I no gonna say nothing to my wife. But I don t even want a kiss goodbye because maybe I come out, maybe I no go back. . Piccolo responds with These people here, they got one [f ] idea. They gonna take over. They gonna be the boss this shows that they re fully aware that the family is just a game to some members to get to the top

Quadratic Formulas Characteristics Axis of Symmetry Axis of symmetry is a line going through a graph that separates the parabola into two. The axis of symmetry ia a vertical line through the vertex of the functions graph. The quadratic function has the axis of symmetry x=h Example Every parabola has an axis of symmetry, the line that runs down its center. The line divides the graph into two perfect halves. In the picture the axis of symmetry is line x=1 Vertex If a parabola opens upward, it has a lowest point. If a parabola opens downward, it has a highest point. This lowest or highest point is called the Vertex of a parabola The standard equation of a parabola is But the equation for a parabola can also be written in vertex form Example: Find the vertex of the parabola. y = 3x2 + 12x 12 So, the x coordinate of the vertex is: a = 3 and b = 12. Substituting in the original equation to get the y coordinate, we get: y = 3( 2)2 + 12( 2) 12 = 24 So, the vertex of the parabola is at ( 2, 24). Zero of a function A

Who I am is shown through my passion for dance, service and exploration. When I was five I was introduced to Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance. Learning to move to the music and create beautiful expression of emotion and art, I fell in love with dance. It became my medium of free expression. After moving to the US, dance was a cultural root I needed to help me adjust. In a time when I was questioning my identity, dance allowed the opportunity to stay close to my heritage. Although the time spent dancing has decreased in the past couple of years, my love for dance is constant. While at Hopkins, I want to join Shakti, a student dance group, to continue creating the art I love so much and expand my horizons by learning different styles of dance. ... • 7. Disadvantages Of Cell Phones Cell phones have become a shield where individuals can hide behind when they are trying to avoid human interaction. Thus, there is a sense of comfort when one is holding their phone. This becomes troublesome as it takes away from personal connections that could have otherwise been made when one puts down their phone (Lepp, Li, Barkley, 2016, p. 407). However, there are times where cell phones can be beneficial for maintaining relationships, such as when one cannot meet face to face and when one does not have the confidence or language skills to make plans with someone unless done behind a screen (Pierce, 2009, p. 1368; Conti Ramsden, Durkin, Simkin, 2010, p. 197). It is important to note, that throughout my observations, especially while memoing and coding I discovered that cell phones were more of a barrier than an opportunity to establish and strengthen relationships. Additionally, the data I found at the University of Windsor in the CAW cafeteria very much resembled two scholarly journal articles: Social Anxiety and Technology and Mobile Voice Communication and Loneliness, which made me appreciate not only the time and effort that was taken to publish these articles, but also my own research experience. In sum, I hope that my work emphasizes the influence that smartphones have in regards to human contact. Based on my memoing and coding I found that cell phones have their advantages as well as their disadvantages when it comes to human interactions. For instance, in

I think that in our society, however, they are sometimes downplayed, and the views of these definitely differ from person to person. I think that people engage in this behavior without protection because they just want to experience pleasure, and are not considering the consequences in the moment. This could be because of the influence of peers, society, or something like alcohol influencing the choice. Also, I think that many people are really in denial about the consequences of doing this. More specifically, I think they think that they won t ever get an STD, as if it is something foreign to them, when in fact, it is very much possible and common. The same thing goes with the potential

Bragg was unable to successfully implement the first principle of mission command: build cohesive teams through mutual trust. He also had a history of not utilizing the sixth principle of mission command: take prudent risk. Bragg s lack of competence regarding these two mission command principles ultimately set conditions for a poor mission command climate within General Bragg s unit. Bragg s sub commanders, Generals Hindman, Buckner, Polk, Longstreet, and Hill were all skeptical of Bragg s leadership and battle plans from his previous campaign at Chattanooga where he retreated from the city. Bragg was well known for retreating at the first Battle of Chattanooga, and also for predictably employing frontal assault offensive tactics. His history of predictable plans, retreats, and inability to take prudent risk caused his subordinate leaders not lose trust in his ability to plan and lead his Army. One of Bragg s sub commanders, General Hill, stated about Bragg s confidence and poor sub commander relationships: He was silent and reserved and seemed gloomy and despondent. • 14. The Pros And Cons Of An Appropriate Age For Drinking What s an appropriate age for drinking? There has been a debate among individuals about what is an appropriate age for drinking? Some people encourage and believe that the law of alcohol consumption should be lowered from 21 years of age to 18. They believe that there are a lot of pros to lowering the age of drinking. On the other hand, some people believe that the law should stay and not be changed. The effects of lowering the age of drinking would also have many cons and cause more damage in the long run. So, how can we look at this debate and come to a resolution? In 1984 the government, made it illegal for individuals under 21 years of age to consume alcohol. But, many states didn t want to approve the law and follow the requirements. Nevertheless, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There really isn t truth to that, because you can have an 18 year old act more responsible than a 21 year old. Many argue what s the difference between an 18 and a 21 year old. Can three years make such a difference in someone s decision. So, why not have the choice to drink alcohol and make that decision on your own and not through the government? That s what many argue. In 2009 a study was done by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 35 percent of fatal traffic accidents due to drinking and driving were due to people between the age 21 24. All fatal alcohol related accidents involved people between the ages of 21 44. Looking at the study what would happen to the numbers. Would they increase or decrease if the law was changed? In a 2002 meta study of the legal drinking age and traffic accidents found higher legal drinking ages associated with lower rates of traffic accidents. Theano is written in Python, and has a large amount of documentation and functionality. When the empire fell laws went away, trade stopped and civilization collapsed along with it. Civilization had to start anew and as you would guess, it was not easy. Another reason it is referred as the Dark Ages because we do not know much about what happened during this period of time. Many important documents did not survive, making it lost in history. This time lasted around the time from the fifth to the fifteenth century. The Middle Agesended with the start of the Renaissance period. There was almost no privacy in villages, people were very close. Being so, people had a reputation and their reputations stuck with them. When there was a murder someone would be accused by their reputation rather than evidence. This would often cause conflict among families. Throughout the play, Henry s speeches persuade and manipulate audiences as he effectively uses the power of rhetoric to achieve his goals. He has the power to intimidate his enemies, uplift his soldiers, and mold himself into whoever he needs to be. With the change of Henry s character came a greater title and the responsibility for an entire nation, causing him to abandon his outwardly destructive behavior and dissemble. Shakespeare thus contends that there is a difference between being a good person and a successful leader; national heroism and effective kingship is not necessarily attained through moral actions, but rather through the art of powerful rhetoric and the ability to seem moral and virtuous rather than to be moral and virtuous, thereby mimicking some characteristics of how a successful ruler should appear, as suggested in Machiavelli s The Prince. While Henry is certainly ruthless at times, his ability to assume the roles necessary for successful leadership is what makes him a great king. In Henry V, Henry uses the power of his rhetoric to achieve his goals and to effectively communicate with nobility, commoners, churchmen, and enemies. Henry claims to have once assumed the role of a commoner as he threatens the Dauphin, For that have I laid by my majesty/And plodded like a man for working days...tell the pleasant Prince this mock of his/Hath turned his balls to gun stones (1.2.277 278, 282 283). Prior to the Battle of Harfleur, Henry injects confidence into English nobles and farmers and asks them to dishonor not [their] mothers and to prove that [they] are worth [their] breeding (3.1.22 28). He encourages hostility in his troops and urges them to act as tigers: But when the blast of

On Noise explores an aspect of humanity that is surprisingly appropriate for our current times, how it is part of human nature to become distracted. Seneca explores the fascinating idea of how it is human nature to be distracted and that we must busy ourselves with tasks or succumb to the danger of being overcome by the distractions or the noise that surrounds us, he does through the extended metaphor of the obvious distractions of sound and by using the scenario of busy street in everyday life, for the sake of this essay we will take the definition of humannature to be The general psychological characteristics, feelings and behavioural traits of human kind, regarded as shared by all humans . In Hebrew literature, God is just and merciful and the humans are inadequate. On the other hand, in Greek literature, gods are powerful and self centered, and the humans are the ones responsible for the community. VO2max can be defined as the maximum oxygen uptake. This entails the maximum rate at which oxygen is readily available in the body to be taken up and used during aerobic exercise. (Fletcher et al.) It is a very important and commonly used indicator of a person or athletes level of cardiovascular fitness. A high VO2max demonstrates a high level of aerobic fitness, where as a low VO2max indicates a low rate of aerobic fitness. There are two factors that are important in determining a persons VO2max, which are the hearts ability to deliver oxygen to the muscles and the muscles ability to extract the oxygen from the blood and use it (Brown, Miller and Eason). This means that when a person has a high VO2max their body is able to deliver oxygen through the blood efficiently to the muscles in order to maintain high levels of aerobic exercise over an extended period of time. VO2max is a valued measurement of cardiovascular fitness in the Sport industry due to its ability to indicate cardiovascular fitness, as well as the pulmonary and muscular systems efficiency throughout the duration of the exercise (Brown, Miller and Eason). There are multiple tests that can measure VO2max

The Pros And Cons Of The Treaty Between Spain And Portugal The Treaty between Spain and Portugal was signed on September 4th in 1479 between the Catholic Monarchs of Castile and Aragon on one side and Afonso V and his son, Prince John of Portugal, on the other side. It put an end to the War of the Castilian Succession, which ended with a victory of the Catholic Monarchs on land and a Portuguese victory on the sea. The peace treaty was signed at AlcГЎГ§ovas. The audience for the Treaty between Spainand Portugalwas the people of higher power. In Spain the higher power that the treaty applied to was king and queen of Castile, Leon, Aragon, Sicily, Toledo, Valencia, Galicia, Majorca, Seville, Sardinia, Cordova, Corsica, Murcia, Jaen, the Algarves, Algeciras, and Gibraltar; count and countess of Barcelona; lord and lady of Biscay and Molina; duke and duchess of Athens and Neopatras; count and countess of Roussillon and Cerdagne; marquis and marchioness of Oristano and Gociano. The higher power in Portugal was the King and Queen of Portugal and the Algarves. The Treaty between Spain and Portugal was also for anyone in the council of both parties and the Catholic Monarchs. The overall argument for the treaty between Spain and Portugal was Joanna la Beltraneja, Queen of Portugal, and Alfonso V, King of Portugal, gave away their rights to the Castilian throne in favor to the Catholic Monarchs, who gave Joanna and Alfonso the throne of Portugal. Another agreement in the treaty was the sharing of the Atlantic territories between the two countries. The treaty also was made to manifest who gets what land. Portugal recognized Castile s rights over the Canary Islands but Portugal was able to win the navigating, conquering and trading in all the Atlantic Oceansouth of the Canary Islands. To this day, The Treaty between Spain and Portugal can be seen as a landmark in the history of colonialism. It is one of the first international documents that shows how the European s purpose was to separate the world and colonize the territories located within their areas, and that any indigenous peoples living there are not asked for their consent. This could be seen as a general accepted principle in the ideology and practice of European powers up to the 20th century decolonization. The treaty

Young learners have become part of the iGeneration in which the use of technology comes to be a natural way of learning, interacting with others and making sense of the world (Pellerin, 2012). In regards to documentation and assessment, there have been different digital tools that are creating a new way of evaluating and observing how children learn. According to research by Pellerin (2012), assessment for the 21st century learning and teaching requires a shift from assessment of learning toward assessment strategies for learning. In order for teachers to understand assessment strategies for learning they must see documentation under a new digital perspective. Documentation now includes gathering of tangible evidence from a variety of means such as learning stories, photographs, video and audio recordings of the students learning process (ELECT, 2007). Effective documentation will not only gather information but also tell a story and purpose of an event, experience, or development. In a digital era, technology tools and applications like Ipads and Ipods are creating a learning experience for children, teachers and families unlike any other tools in the past. • 26. Causes Of The Revolution Of 1848 The revolution of 1848 was a great disappointment to both Karl Marx and Alexis de Tocqueville. To Marx, the revolution should have been a step along the way to socialism, with the bourgeoisie capitalists overthrowing the previous landed feudal society. In turn, the proletariat would rise and bring both the end of class antagonism and the beginning of the socialist state. To Tocqueville, the revolution was about the reduction in the power of the aristocracy, as the lower classes were on their way up. This broadening equality must necessarily give rise to democracy, with all its hopes and shortfalls. Yet the revolution ended not in socialismor democracy, but with an emperor. Marx and Tocqueville may have had different ideas on how and why a society should conduct itself, but both found the revolution of 1848 and its resolution a disappointment. Marx takes a very materialist view of the revolution. The July Monarchy of Louis Phillipe was a largely bourgeois government. Louis Phillipe was tied to the banking bourgeoisie and the laws that came out of his government were largely to their benefit. He is in competition with the Bourbon interests, who favor the landed aristocracy. These two groups, those who have the capital and those who have the land work against each other, and this struggle is the beginning for the revolution. Marx says each side opposing the other wasn t about Orleans monarchy against Bourbon monarchy but that it meant nothing else than that each of the two

That sort of act would have had a greater political impact upon the voting public than an ad campaign explaining the ills of Newt Gingrich. Even more sickening, is the fact that most of the candidates will feign knowledge of participation in any negative campaign movements because of the independent nature of the Super PACs. The cause of virological failure in patients taking PIs are drug resistance mutations outside the active site of HIV 1 protease, but rather throughout the matrix and capsid proteins of the Gag polyprotein in HIV1. While the mutational pathway that leads to resistance to PIs in HIV 1 is not yet fully understood, mutations in Gag polyproteins have been shown to be associated with changes in PI susceptibility with or without mutations in HIV 1 protease. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Analyzing the three dimensional distribution of coevolving Gag residues, Codoner et al found that the correlated residues in the matrix are clustered on the inner surface on the trimer. As these surfaces were previously associated with interactions between gp41, a subunit of HIV 1 envelope protein, and the matrix, Codoner et al. concluded that these mutated residues are representative of novel interprotein interactions that modifies matrix stability in order to affect viral fusogenicity. This is further supported by several coevolving p17 residues (residues 66, 69, and 98) were also previously shown to be contributed to matrix stabilization and the incorporation of viral envelope proteins into immature viral particles. Thus, Codoner et al hypothesized that coevolving residues in HIV 1 matrix may affect HIV 1 resistance to PIs by modifying particle maturation and viral fusogenicity (Codoner et al, 2017). Studying the molecular basis of Gag protease coevolution, Ozen et al. found that coevolved Gag protease complexes were also able to restore protease active site dynamics by increasing Gag protease interactions. Because of this uncertainty in the economy, many people were not doing as well as they might have been doing in another town, but despite this, they did not move away for one common reason: the Permian Panthers. The fans in Odessa were not paying to see a
  • 40. First Transcontinental Railroad Essay The First Transcontinental Railroad was an extremely exciting topic to learn about and it was very interesting, which is why I chose it as my History Day topic. I chose to portray my project as an exhibit since I decided that it was only appropriate to show these series of events in a more visual, direct way. There were other ways I could have created my final project, such as a documentary, skit, or website; however, I decided that sketching a train and making physical 3D artifacts would be more visually appealing. The research part of this project was done through Cornell notes, which were tedious at first, but I realized that it helped a lot when I actually put my project together. I used a variety of sources, mostly from credible websites.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was time to put all of the research I had done in the form of an exhibit. Before doing the exhibit, I made a layout of what was most probably going to go on my final poster. Even though I had the layout, I still encountered some problems. I would have had run into so many more problems if I hadn t done the layout, so I am glad that I did it. Right before putting my project together, I quickly went to the store to get the materials like the poster board, glue, clay for the artifacts, etc. Now that I had all the materials, I was finally set to complete the enormous project. One of the problems I encountered was that I didn t have enough room on my poster board for everything that I needed. Because of this, I decided to reprint some of the items, so that I could fit everything. Another problem I ran into was that I could not fit my title on one page, so I decided to print it on multiple pages and just glue them together. After I was finished with cutting and pasting, I realized that I did pretty well. I also realized that after I finished my project that I did not have to color the sketch of a train that I drew because most of my pictures were black and white anyway. After finishing my poster board, I had to create my 3D artifacts. I decided to make a replica of the locomotive part of the Transcontinental Railroad out of cardstock, a small part of the railroad tracks out of clay, and a
  • 41. Comparing Universal Robots (A. U. R) And Interstellar Although there is not a vast amount of knowledge on the topics of robots, here is what we do know. The word, robot is a generalized term that includes machines such as the following: cyborgs, artificial intelligence (A.I.), and androids. These robots are essentially mechanical objects or beings that are built and programmed by humans for humans. Therefore, they are ideally limited to the capabilities programmed into them. Robots are created with the intention of being useful companions to society, but they may also become destructive. Overall, as knowledge grows in this area of expertise, robots will simultaneously advance. Rossum s Universal Robots (R.U.R), a 1920s play, and Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan, are two great works that use the concept of robots. In both storylines, a relationship is depicted between the technology of robots and the culture of humans. I argue that in both texts there is a significant relationship between robots and humans and the slightly contrasting roles they play in (R.U.R) and Interstellar. This relationship is predicated on three factors. The first factor is that the robots are built based upon the ideals and knowledge base of humans. The second factor is the idea of human inferiority vs. robot superiority that is a question of why this belief exists and if the superior party recognizes it. The third factor is whether these robots want to become human and the role they play in the advancement or downfall of society. In
  • 42. Burning The United States Flag Burning the United States Flag Through the years of America, there have been multiple accounts of flag desecration. Flag desecration is a term that is used to describe a various set of acts that intentionally destroy, damage, or mutilate a flag in public, and in this case, the American flag. Citizen s typically doing this treasonous act when they want to make a political point against their country or policies in the country or another country. Some of these actions include: burning it, urinating or defecating on it, defacing it with slogans, stepping upon it, damaging it with stones or guns, cutting or ripping it, verbally insulting it, or dragging it on the ground. A few countries have laws that forbid the methods or just uses of this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The court said the government cannot carve out a symbol of unity and prescribe a set of approved messages to be associated with that symbol . . . The court also said that the flag burning did not cause or threaten to cause a breach of the peace. After this happened, Texas asked the Supreme Court to look at their situation and Johnson s case. In result to this case, the majority of the court noted that the Texas law discriminated upon the law. They feel that this act might bring up anger in other people and more flag burning. The majority of the court also agreed that Johnson had the right to use that form of symbolic speech because it is protected by the first amendment. They find this act is very offensive, but the society s outrage alone is not justification for depressing Johnson s freedom of speech. The first amendment, as written in the constitution, forbids the abridgement of speech , but we have not taken upon the writing that it spreads past spoken and written. Any citizen has the wright to use his or her form of speech in his or way of choosing. These forms can be in words, or written down on paper. These ways of speech can also be used in actions, and these actions can express an idea of language as well. When Johnson decided to burn the American flag, he was using his form of speech to get his point across to the new president. When the state came after him, they were in the wrong because of this amendment. Because of this, it was

The consultant is being hired to assist with the decision as to whether to invest in either project or not. This cost will be incurred before the decision for either project is made and is not incremental to either project. Consequently, it is considered a sunk cost. In addition, the inter company charge for the computer time is not an incremental cash flow to the firm. Consequently, it is really an internal allocation and should not be considered in the valuation of either project. On the surface, the NPV is more sensitive to changes in cost savings than the initial investment based on the assumed range of changes. In fairness, the variation in annual cash flows of 40% is over two times larger than the variation allowed for in the initial investments (15%). A more meaningful comparison could be obtained by adjusting the two factors
