Summary Of Ma Joad In The Grapes Of Wrath
Ma Joad is the driving force. She is determined to get to California, because she believes that life will
be better in California. Because she is so keen on getting to California, she often tries to take the
power of the family, and take the man s job. Ma believes that the family will get to California only
with the desire of everyone involved, and only if everyone participates in making it happen. She keeps
motivation strong throughout the entire book. Even though she often confines herself to gender roles,
she is often able to take power to motivate the group to move on, even in the toughest situations.
Occasionally when the Joads and company are not motivated to do something Ma will step up and
take control of the group, even though that is Pa s role. In one case she grabbed a jackhammer, and the
eyes of the whole family shifted back to Ma. She was the power. She had taken control (169).
Although Ma taking power like this is frightening to the Joads, it is the only way that the Joads are
able to make it to California together. In this case Ma is opposing moving on, but the words of the
group encourage Ma to look at the other side and she later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

him to go on, instead he is worrying about society s gender roles. This happens a lot in many different
situations. Maybe a person at an office has an innovative idea for an effective way to get things done,
but the idea is immediately rejected because it breaks a norm in the office. Or maybe the president
wants to pass a law that would improve our economy, but if congress doesn t agree on it, the law won t

Causes Of Happiness And Happiness
CAUSES OF HAPPINESS AND UNHAPPYNESS
In this world all creature have the desire, wishes, and everyone want to be the happy happier and the
most happiest in the world as they can do , no one is ready to stuck in the difficult life , no one wants
to suffer , everyone in pursuit in the happiness but they do not know that happiness come from the
sadness . All people have one common desire to be the happy, they just want to be happy. It doesn t
matter where we are from, what we are rich or poor, what our tradition and what is our background or
religion there is no any particular condition to get the happiness so we all have to get happiness our
goal is not different. We should embracedeeply, the common ground we share, and try to respect each
other and have the patience with one another, we all are here to learn from one another and we are
doing so, we are the source to help one another to grow together. Everyone is the important and have
different qualities.

happiness is called love. . Without love everything becomes dry. Love makes everything rich, lush,
and vital. It s like a protein that makes a moreNutritious life.
We depend on others for everything we have their cooperation and support makes everything possible
for us. We re here for all living beings and we have a responsibility to love everyone.
The second cause of happiness is compassion, which is the outreaching expression of our love.
Compassion is the wish and activity to help relieve the suffering of others. When someone we love is
in trouble, we naturally feel compassion and want to help. Genuine compassion connects to others in
their current situation. We stand with them and share their experience, their thoughts, and their

Rosalind And Benjamin Franklin
Overall, I thought the film provided a unique perspective on the race to discovering the structure of
DNA. Out of the many films I had watched on this topic, there were few that focused on the
significance of Rosalind s contribution. This film portrayed how Watson and Crick unfairly took
information and credit from Franklin. After their study was put to a halt, Watson and Crick bounced
back from their slump all thanks to Franklin s diffraction image. Frankly speaking, Franklin was a spy.
He snuck into a fairly discrete conference where Rosalind presented her findings. Additionally, he
admitted to snooping around her office when she was not there. The sad part was that she
unfortunately passed away before having the chance to see the impact ... Show more content on

The key to Watson and Crick s success was their ability to think beyond the narrow images of the
world. Instead of approaching the issue from a typical perspective, Watson and Crick went about their
own style of thought. They were days where all they did was take walks and talk. This allowed them
to free their minds so that they could concentrate on the big ideas. Given so, I think that having a
liberal arts education gives me the opportunity to explore other disciplines. I am currently a Biology
major. However, I have gotten the chance to take other non science/major related classes that have

How Does Mary Shelley Use Darkness Dehumanize In Frankenstein
Whitney Kadel

Frankenstein: Light and dark Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, includes numerous symbols. Frankenstein
is an important must read because it provides real life symbols. These symbols that humanize or
dehumanize the monster and Victor to make them relatable to dark and light qualities. In the novel,
Mary Shelley employs the concept of light and dark to epitomize the underlying meanings in the text,
allowing the readers to take it and escapade it in their minds and take the story to another level rather
than the average novel.
Francis Bacon once said in order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present .

Frankenstein grew up in a wonderful family life. He had an amazing mom and childhood with friends
and siblings. He grew up falling in love with his cousin, first as best friends of course however always
had feelings for her. progressing through Frankenstein s life he becomes a genius in various fields of
science, which means he was happy and devoted to his work. He was in love with the idea of his
creation and buried himself in his work for many many months. Thus he was genuinely happy. Then
after a period of darkness he plans to wed Elizabeth. The wedding day of Frankenstein and Elizabeth
is known to be the happiest day of Frankenstein s life. The scene of the wedding is beautiful and up
until the murder of Elizabeth. Shelley creates a beautiful scene of the wedding in chapter 23 of the
story that shows the happiness completely of Frankenstein which shows the human side to
Frankenstein. Marriage is something that is a devotion and a promise forever for all humans whether
excited to the build up or not the wedding day is always amazing. However unlike Frankenstein the

Essay about Barbie as a Real Woman is Anatomically...
Millions of girls around the world are dressing their Barbie dolls in skimpy designer outfits and high
heel shoes, and slide her slender legs into a bright pink convertible next to her male counterpart, Ken.
These same girls will gaze into the mirror, staring at their thighs and hair, and attempt to balance
themselves in a pair of their mother s high heel shoes. They will wonder why they do not look like
Barbie. They will wonder today, just as I wondered years ago. As the years of make believe with the
American plastic icon of girlhood nostalgia passed, I discovered Barbie s hidden effects. Although
Barbie lent herself to fond memories of childhood, she also influenced my early ideal image of the
female body. As I began to realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the years, the hair and outfit changed, but the body has remained the same, an ample chest, long
legs, and lean arms and neck. Her firm, plastic body did not compare with my short legs and chunky
arms. What do an anorexic woman and a Barbie doll have in common? They are the same size. If
Barbie was a real woman, out in the real world, she would not be standing, but actually be on all fours.
Her feet would be too small to hold up her abundant upper half. She would tower at 7 2 and weigh 101
pounds. This skyscraper of a woman would not be able to bear children and only have enough room
for a few inches of intestines. I, on the other hand, am blessed to have twenty five feet of intestines
and the room to hold them. Barbie is a girl s introduction to the ideal image of the female body. As she
matures, she picks up an issue of Glamour or Allure, Elle or Fitness, in an attempt to educate her on
how to fight off every bulge and run off the weight to keep her man. I know these women, these girls,
as I am and was one of them. If only Matell could create a doll after Sandro Botticelli s painting of the
ideal woman in his masterpiece, Birth of Venus. If she were the ideal image of the female body, it
would be much more realistic. If Venus were a real woman, she would be 5 4 and 140 pounds. Unlike

The Interrelationship Between The Overcoat And Gogol
The interrelationship between The Overcoat, written by Nikolai Gogol, and Gogol, written by Jhumpa
Lahiri, may not be apparent at first, but with the help of My Two Lives, also written by Jhumpa Lahiri,
one can see that both The Overcoat and Gogol are connected by ties that hold them together. Although
Gogol and the speaker in My Two Lives share similar backgrounds and can directly relate to each
other, Akaky can also connect to Lahiri and Gogol because all they all yearn for acceptance from those
around them. One point of comparison is the practice of naming connects Akaky, from The Overcoat ,
and Gogol together by having similar practices. Another similarity between all three works is that each
main character questions their identity, eventually overcoming their struggle of being seen as different.
Both Akaky Akakiyevich, and Gogol Ganguli live in cultures where their names have substantial
meaning. Although the way that a person is named differs from culture to culture, the naming process
has similar characteristics. Readers can infer from both The Overcoat and Gogol that names in
Russian and Bengali have significant meaning and helps shape who the person is when they grow
older. However, one thing that varies greatly between these two cultures is when they are named and
how many names they have. In Russian culture, the name is picked after the baby is born, in which the
mother or elders give the child a name and hope that he or she will live up to the

Persuasive Essay On Prison Reform
Today, it seems almost incomprehensible that so many people with serious mental illnesses reside in
prisons instead of receiving treatment. Over a century and a half ago, reform advocates like Dorothea
Dix campaigned for prison reform, urging lawmakers to house the mentally ill in hospitals rather than
in prisons. The efforts undertaken by Dix and other like minded reformers were successful: from
around 1870 to 1970, most of the United States mentally ill population was housed in hospitals rather
than in prisons. Considering reformers made great strides in improving this situation over a century
and a half ago. Granted, mental hospitals in the late 19th and early 20th century were often badly run
and critically flawed, but rather than pushing for reform of these hospitals, many politicians lobbied
for them to close their doors, switching instead to a community based system for treating the mentally
ill. Although deinstitutionalization was originally understood as a humane way to offer more suitable
services to the mentally ill in community based settings, some politicians seized upon it as a way to
save money by shutting down institutions without providing any meaningful treatment alternatives.
This callousness has created a one way road to prison for massive numbers of impaired individuals
and the inhumane warehousing of thousands of mentally ill people. Nevertheless, there are things that
can be done to lower the rate mentally ill persons are being incarcerated. Such

Offerer Acceptance (Law)
Offer and acceptance is one the main 7 essentials to create a legally binding contract since a contract is
based on agreement. It is also an essential for a court to arbitrate problems. An offer is a manifestation
(orally, in writing, or by conduct) of willingness to enter into bargain, which justifies another person s
understanding of assent to that bargain is invited and will conclude the transaction. An Offeror is the
party who makes the offer. An offeree is the party who receives the offer and is asked to accept it and
thus form a contract. An offer can be either bilateral (made to a specific person(s)) or unilateral form
(made to the whole world). (Frey Frey, 2001)

As Anjali refers to the offer made on the notice board the notice on the staff notice board said that the
car would be sold to the first staff member who pays the money as she did not come with the money it
might make the acceptance invalid.
In Kavitha s case she conveyed her acceptance clearly in verbal form while she arrived with a cheque
which she handed over to Manuja therefore as she has accepted the offer validly and an agreement
exists thus Kavitha can sue Manjula for Breach of contract.
The offerors act of withdrawing an offer is referred to as revocation. Unless an offer is irrevocable, the
offeror can revoke the offer even if he or she has promised to keep the offer open (Miller Jentz, 2010).
Revocation of offers should be made the same way offers were made as established in the case of
Shuey v US. Manjula s revocation of the offer fails because an offer cannot be reversed once it has
been accepted i.e. in a case like Payne v Cave the highest bidder could withdraw his bid before the
hammer was brought down (before acceptance) but in the case of Bryne v Van Tienhoven the acceptor
could not revoke his offer because he already accepted it. Thus Kavitha will be able to successfully
sue for breach of

CAFO Environmental Effects
Some groceries stores have pictures of happy animals and beautiful farms adorning the walls of their
stores. There are commercials depicting the same things but what if the real picture was not as serene
as it seemed? Milk, eggs, butter, meat, yogurt, and many other products sold in grocery stores come
from industrialized farming operations. These operations are also called factory farms or confined
animal feeding operations (CAFOs). The need and the desire for something like these CAFOs is
understandable but the conditions are absolutely deplorable. Animals are treated poorly, the
environmental effects are unimaginable and the health of humans is also at risk. The Food and Drug

Americans have gone from eating roughly 234lbs of meat per capita in 980 to 273lbs in 2007 (qtd.
Pluhar 2). In the past meat was a side on a dinner plate but as years have gone on, meat has become
the main event. The increased demand for meat, as stated above, has caused issues with both the
environment and animal welfare. But the demand has also caused issues with the welfare of humans.
One of the issues humans face are the pathogens that are released from stressed, immune
compromised, containment filled food animals (qtd. Pluhar 2). Because of the increased exposure,
humans are more susceptible to diseases (qtd. Pluhar 2). Food borne illnesses are a big issue and since
the commercialization of farming, the number of cases of food borne illnesses has grown. 76 million
people are hit by fouled food annually in the United States. 5,000 of those people die (qtd. Pluhar 2).
This is due to the slack regulations in the industry. Studies have been done in low CAFOs regions
versus regions with a high concentration of CAFOs. One study showed that people were more likely
to develop eczema in the regions with a high concentration of CAFOs. It could be argued that the
increase in illnesses and the increase in factory farms could be completely unrelated. But research
should be done to provide conclusive evidence showing the relationship between the two. People
should be able to eat their food without worrying about

1. What are some of the most prominent cultural differences between the chosen country and the
United States? What could be the impact of these differences on business activities with each other?
Historical developments and cultural affiliations of various communities often define the economy of
a country. The culture is critical in dictating the traditions that led to the realization of a given
economic state both in the past and at present. A number of author have employed the cultural lenses
in demonstrating the growth registered by various countries have a bearing on their cultural affiliations

3. Ease of doing business in the world
A review of ease of doing business indicates that China was among the 108 countries that
implemented 201 regulatory reforms in 2011/12. These reforms have made the country to be third
place after Singapore and Hong Kong respectively. The following table illustrates the top ten countries
in the ranking.

in the recently which has made a dramatic impact on the nation s economy? Does the current political
system help or hinder the economic development in that country? Do you foresee any political system
changes in the future?
Politics and economic development are integral factors. The Chinese politics has been instrumental in
fueling the economic development of this country. The political system has limited the western culture
an aspect that has direct influence on the country s economy. The political system restricts the
democratic space for her citizens. Arguably, this restriction has been beneficial to the country because
many people tend to strive towards building their lives. Additionally, a number of political changes

Limitations Of Wireless Communication
INTRODUCTION
There are lots of challenges occurs for reliable wireless communication which occurs due to physical
limitations of the wireless medium. There has been massive growth occurs in wireless communication
which is due to the techniques that improves spectral efficiency and mitigate various channel
impairments such as fading and interference. Moreover there is always demand for high speed
wireless internet and technologies which are capable of providing higher capacities and link
reliabilities. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) is based on communication system which is able
to fulfil these objectives. MIMO is an expansion of smart antennas systems. There were traditional
smart antennas which occupy multiple antennas at receiver, whereas In MIMO system multiple
antennas are engaged at both sides at transmitter as well as receiver side. The multiple antennas at the
transmitter and the receiver side provide a major advantage over traditional smart antenna systems in
terms of capacity and diversity advantage. The multipath propagation by MIMO system is a
remarkably advantage over other antennas system. Moreover it is able to provide independent fading
channels between every pair of transmitter and receiver antennas.
The rapid improvement in communication system with high data rates and improved channel capacity
has pondered towards the study of both theoretical and practical in wireless communication systems.
Wireless communication system has made great effort to

Reflection About Divorce
Divorce is difficult on the children involved. When my parents finalized their divorce, it was decided
that for the majority of the summer we would stay with our mother. The divorce occurred when my
brothers and I were very young. My mother lived in a small, unremarkable town named Evart that is
north of Lansing. Our grandmother lived in the outskirts of nearby Reed City. We spent most of our
time during the summer at her cramped little trailer. The trailer she lived in was on a decently sized
plot of land. Her home was situated on a hill that leveled out quickly as the path led to the road. The
yard was expansive with hard brown grass covering a small portion with dirt covering the rest. On one
side of the trailer was a large red barn with chipped paint. On the other side was an old brown camper
that held two beds and an old television with an antenna resting on the top. There was no backyard as
the trailer was a few feet from a wooden fence that had barbed wire across the top to stop the neighbor
s horses from entering the property. The camper is where my brother and I slept while with my
grandmother. The property where my brother Sabastian and I stayed at shaped some of the ways my
personality developed. When our mother left us at my grandmother s she would take my oldest brother
Andrew with her, leaving my older brother Sabastian and I with our grandma. We were mostly
independent; we were not allowed in the house so we roamed the property playing with the dogs

Representation Of American Culture In Rip Van Winkle By...
American Mythology has been used throughout time for exaggerating the origin of American culture.
The book Rip Van Winkle , written in the early 1800s by Washington Irving, is a great representation
of American Mythology because it incorporates characteristics that establish the identity of a nation
such as, people, images, and events. Irving s story Rip Van Winkle is set in the pre and post
Revolutionary War Periods, and during this time the colonies expressed great discontent of being
under the rule of King George III of Great Britain. Irving s, use of larger than life characters,
interesting places, and mysterious events, illustrated the extreme desire for freedom, lifestyle, and
value systems for the people during the pre and post war periods.
First, Irving implements American values through very captivating characters. The characters can be
compared to the everyday life of the citizens of early America. An example of this is Rip s marriage to
his wife Dame Van Winkle. In the story, Irving described Dame Van Winkle as being sharp tongued
and relentlessly nagging, morning, noon, and night, her tongue was incessantly going and everything
he said or did was sure to produce a torrent of household eloquence (65). Dame is in direct conflict
with how Rip wants to live his life and her constant nagging is a result of Rip going against the current
social norms of working and not being lazy. Rip s laziness causes his farm and his children to suffer,
and his fences were

Chemical Reactions And Factors That Affect The Rate Of A...
Reactions occur everywhere, and they may take decades, such as fossils, or only seconds, such as
lighting a match to occur. Chemical kinetics concerns the rates of chemical reactions and what factors
affects these rates (Iodine Clock, 2017). Temperature, concentration, pressure of reacting gases,
surface area of reacting solids and the use of catalysts are all factors which affect the rate of a reaction
(Bbc.co.uk, 2017). This is because they affect the reaction roles and yields of activation energy,
product management and reactant management (William, 2017). This is accomplished by making
changes to the concentration, pressure or temperature of a reaction to alter the position of the
equilibrium (Bbc.co.uk, 2017).
Accordingly, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was further identified that typically for every 10oC temperature rise, the reaction rate would double
(Del Mundo et al., 2016) (Clark, 2017).
Throughout the Landolt Iodine Clock Reaction, chemical equilibria are clearly demonstrated through
the delayed colour change of combining two colourless solutions to form a dark blue solution. The
overall chemical reaction for this is as follows:
2IO 3(aq) + 5HSO 3(aq) + 2H (aq) → I2 + 5HSO 4(aq) + H20(l)
Iodate ions + Bisulfite ions + hydronium ions → Iodine + Bisulfate + water (Iodine Clock, 2017)
The individual steps of the reaction are:
(1) IO3 (aq) + 3HSO3 (aq) → I (aq) + 3SO4 (aq) + 3H+(aq)
Iodate + Bisulfite → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions
(2) IO3 (aq) + 5I (aq) + 6H+aq) → 3I2(aq) + 3H2O(l)
Iodate + Iodide + Hydronium ions → Iodine + Water
(3) I2(aq) + HSO3 (aq) + H2O(l) → 2I (aq) +SO4 (aq) +3H+(aq)
Iodine + Bisulfite + Water → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions
(4) I2(aq) + I (aq) + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex
Iodine + Iodide + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex
(Iodine Clock Reaction, 2015)
The first reaction is the rate determining step, and hence, determines the order of the reaction. The
equilibria is delayed in this reaction due to any of the iodine produced, immediately reacting with any
bisulfite still present, before then being converted into colourless iodide (reaction 2). Therefore, to
demonstrate this reaction, the

Epic Of Gilgamesh Literary Analysis
Themes, characters, settings, and motifs are essential elements for any literary work. The authors of
the books combine these elements with their own unique understanding of the story that they wish to
narrate to their audience. Scriptural accounts of events that define the doctrines and practices of
Christianity depend on the literary elements. The Bible is a book of immense value to the followers of
the Christian faith in the sense that themes of love, sin, mortality, divinity, punishments are told
through stories of individuals and societies. The Epic of Gilgamesh is a Mesopotamian book that was
written long before the Bible. A comparison of the literary elements show several similarities that lead

The Epic of Gilgamesh revealed that after his sexual encounter with Shamhat, the herd rejected him
due to his lack of innocence, which made the beast to flee his body and scattered the gazelle (Bird 99).
In his analysis of the story of the women in the Bible, Phyllis Bird stated that the comparison of the
events that resulted in the movement of Adam from the Garden of Eden and those with the mythical
ones documented in the ancient books such as the Epic of Gilgamesh highlighted its uniqueness. He
also explained that Eve s intention was different from that of the Harlot sent by Gilgamesh to test
Enkidu. The book of Genesis shows that Eve s inquisitive nature made her succumb to the trick of the
snake. In contrast, the Harlot s motive was to utilize the sexual urges of Enkidu to gain his trust and
fulfill the purpose of civilization.

Hierarchical Bone
Hierarchical architecture and mechanical properties of the various constituents of the bone are
important to understand the origin of toughness and stiffness and their alterations with age and

3.1. Macrostructure: cortical and cancellous bone
At the macrostructural level, bone is divided into the cortical (or compact) and cancellous (or
trabecular) types based upon their degree of porosity or density. Histologically, it is composed of a
cortical bone wrapped around older cancellous bone having irregular, sinuous convolutions of
lamellae. It is still not clear whether cortical and cancellous bone matrices consist of the same material
or have intrinsically different mechanical properties. Based upon the nanoindentation studies, on an ...

However, cancellous bone material being much more active metabolically, is remodelled more often
than cortical bone, and hence, it is younger usually than cortical bone. Based upon the mechanical
measurements at the macroscale, cancellous bone tissue were found to have slightly lower values of
moduli as compared to the cortical bone. Cancellous bone, can be described in terms of structural as
the extrinsic properties of trabeculae and pores. The description of cancellous bone in terms of
material properties defines the trabecular struts and plates. Mechanical properties of both cortical as
well as cancellous bone at the macrostructural level usually vary from bone to bone and within
different regions of the same bone due to variation in mineralization level and apparent density values.

The Importance Of The Re-Organization Of Society
The Fabians believed strongly in the importance of the re organization of Society by creating local
governments and working for the extinction of private property. They desired municipalization of
Land and local government according to the Fabian Parliamentary League s Tract, The True Radical
Programme (1887, p. 7). By giving power to local governments, the Society felt national wealth could
be better circulated and citizens could be better represented. This radically modern notion is expressed
in this strongly worded declaration, So long as the government is not government by the people, of the
people, for the people, it can matter little to the people whether it s a seat at the capital or at the local
centres (Fabian Parliamentary League, 1887, p. 4). As with many Socialist platforms, land and private
property were constant issues. Similar to their radical neighbours the SDF, the Fabians believed in the
extinction of private property meaning the removal of property from individual ownership and placing
it back into the hands of the community (Shaw, 1899, p. 30). Another major objective of the
movement was creating a more equal society where men and women were equal, and all had the right
to vote ( The Guardian , 2001). Suffrage for ALL was incredibly important for the Fabians because
they saw women and the poor to be equally affected by governmental laws (Fabian Parliamentary
League, 1887, p. 5). The Fabian Parliamentary League continued its passionate discourse on

In the article, Slave girl in California, a girl named Shymia was sold into slavery by her parents and
was sent to america with her slave holder. Shymia spent four years with with her slave holder till she
was rescued and given a second chance in life. In the novel, Frederick was a man who was born into
slavery by her slave mother and a white man who could have been his own master. After many years
of seeing tragic and horrifying event while in slavery he writes his life in a book in hopes of showing
others how slavery feels from a slave s point of view. Now for my thesis statement which is slavery
and family are central themes that are similar in both slave girl and the narrative of Frederick but both
also oppose each other with the theme of education .
Both stories rotate on a single word as their main idea and that is slavery and both stories have their
own way of showing it. In the article of slave girl she explains how slavery is and these were her
words, Slavery is like someone is mugging you and stealing your life . Frederick had a different way
of showing slavery by telling others the relationship that most slave s have with their parents and ...

Frederick had a very difficult family tree since people would mention that his father was a white man
and even being his master that controlled him and his mother would be out into another plantation but
she would still come over and visit her dear son for a bit. For Shymia, she actually was sold into
slavery by her own parents which was upsetting to find out. After Shymia was rescued she was
allowed to call her parents and once she did her parent continued to tell Shymia that her slave holders
were nice people and that what she did was giving her mother a heart attack so after that Shyima
decide to stay in america and was adopted by a young couple. Both Shymia and Frederick didn t really

Janie goes through many phases of her life. Hurston does an extraordinary job of putting the reader in
the time period of this novel. The book becomes alive and understandable as it progresses. The
relationship of Tea Cake and Janie is crucial in the understanding of this story. In Zora Neale Hurston
s novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Hurston expresses that Tea Cake does not love Janie when he
first started seeing her, but his love and intentions change over time. In the beginning of their
relationship everything was completely different than how it ended. Janie constantly pushed Tea Cake

Tea Cake is not giving Janie the love or attention that you give to someone that you care deeply for,

Tieing in with Tea Cake constantly leaving Janie, he also leaves her and takes her two hundred dollars.
During this time period that amount of money is a lot, so for him to take this says something about Tea
Cake. This makes Tea Cake questionable. How does he even know this money is there? ...so Janie
never told him about the two hundred dollars she had pinned inside her shirt next to her skin. (Hurston

leaving Janie and then going to the point of taking her money and leaving without telling her or the
fact that he has her money speaks for itself. If he loved her then he wouldn t be taking her things,

Eventually, Tea Cake begins to show regret and guilt for his actions. He immediately wants go to and

Narrative Frames and Interpretive Models in Troilus and Criseyde
Interpretive certainty is purposely elusive in Geoffrey Chaucer s Troilus and Criseyde . Meaning
within the text is convoluted and continually renegotiated. Any attempt to design a singular coherent
stable source of meaning is problematic at best. Throughout the work, narrative frames are broken and
reordered and the validity of any fixed interpretive model is challenged. Virtually every broad
thematic discussion developed is potentially qualified or compromised by the presence of a key figure,
the narrator of the poem. As an ever present observer, the narrator is both author and audience to a
sequence of events he essentially helps to create. He is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The personality of the narrator is foregrounded and exists as a character engaged in an open dialogue
with the reader. The narrator is thoroughly unreliable in his ability to serve as the sole source of
information and insight, a figure possessing absolute control of the text. The authority of the narrator
is paradoxically undermined and underscored by admission of his own inadequacies in shaping the
text.
Whether from mythological beings, ancient writers, a fictitious mentor, or the actual reader of the
poem, the narrator claims to need support from outside sources in order to effectively tell the tale. The
narrator portrays himself alternately as reluctant, ignorant, or simply incapable of fulfilling his duties.
He invokes the powers of the Furies, Cleo, Venus, and the Fates at the beginning of each book to
inspire and enhance his narrative skills. The invocations not only serve as symbolic bridges to the
actions that follow in each book, but also allow the possibility of distance to develop between the
narrator and his creative responsibility to the work. By invoking the gods, the narrator could be seen
as an intermediary, a conduit, a pawn, rather than an active participant.
The narrator does not, however, wish to completely shirk his creative contribution to the text. Instead,
he attempts to qualify it. He likens his skill

When I Have Managed To Make My Wife Summary
The author begins the story with a line that sets the entire story. The first line of the story is, The truth
of the matter is: I have managed to make my wife very, very small. The narrator goes on to explain it
was not intentional and the miniaturization was an accident. The author then has the narrator give
background information and explain the story of what happens to his wife and himself. The story ends
with the extreme measures the miniature wife has taken upon herself to torture the narrator. The
miniature wife sets trip wires throughout the home and sticks tiny spears in the carpet. The first scenes
of the story are about the wife and the miniaturization. The next scenes following explain how upset
the wife is with her current state. She does things to the narrator that mess with his appearance by
dulling his razors and removing the buttons on his clothes. The narrator keeps issues to himself
because he doesn t want to lose his job or there be a police investigation. The narrator then makes a
dollhouse for his wife and does until the end of the story where she invites her husband to have dinner
at home, and when he comes home she is naked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I thought this story was very ambitious. It reminded me of an old movie called Honey I Shrunk The
Kids. The process of making a human the size of a coffee mug is rather far off, I enjoyed the humor
the author added. The things that the wife would do to the husband I felt sorry for him, but at the same
time they were such little things a miniature person would do if they were home all day and bored. I
think the wife did those things to the narrator because she blames him for what has happened to her.
The author on top of the ambitious story then has the wife cheat on her husband. This twist I was
surprised by; I thought there was going to be a happy ending between the two was they would
reconcile and perhaps the husband would shrink himself. I felt the author made the story grander by
adding the twist at the

Fostering Teacher Student Relationship in Nursing
Fostering a warm teacher student relationship
The teacher student relationship is very important for children. Children spend approximately 5 to 7
hours a day with a teacher .We ask ourselves what is considered a good teacher? All of us have gone
through schooling, and if fortunate had a favorite teacher. A positive relationship between the student
and the teacher is difficult to establish, but can be found for both individuals. The qualities for a
positive relationship can vary to set a learning experience approachable and inviting the students to
learn. A teacher and student who have the qualities of good communications, respect in a classroom,

Those teachers, who demonstrate respect towards their students, automatically win favor by having
active learners in their classroom. The arrogant or offensive teacher will lack these positive qualities
due to his or her lack of control over the children. Teachers should assert that they should also be
treated with respect .Teachers can blend their warmth and firmness towards the students in their
classroom, but with realistic limits.
Teachers who are in a classroom might have experienced one time or other students who are
disruptive or find learning boring. Teachers understand that if this behavior continues in the classroom
and if they do nothing to prevent this from happening, the outcome proves to be disastrous for both
types of participants. The student will conclude that his or her behavior is permissible, and will draw
away from learning; therefore it is essentially important for the teacher to explain to the child the
importance to learn. Though we understand that learning cannot be forced, learning becomes a process
for an individual where he or she feels comfortable with learning whether it s in a classroom or at
clinics.
Children in first year feel the urge to talk about their problems, fears, or even show their knowledge,
but at the same time they want to be listened too. The student will feel valued and respected. Students
feel happy when the teacher eventually gives

Belonging is more than a state, it is a dynamic process which is affected by the individual s personal

Therefore the first survival factor for Salva was the thoughts of seeing his family again. The second
survival factor that made survival possible for Salva was Uncle Jewiir s advice. Not only was his
advice a survival factor, but he himself was a survival factor. While Salva was crossing the desert in
chapter 7 he found himself losing hope. But Uncle Jewiir didn t let that happen. He made sure to stay
by Salva s side when he needed somebody for comfort and he gave advice. According to chapter 7
(page 41), it states that If it hadn t been Uncle, Salva might have gone crazy with fear. Uncle spoke to
him all morning in a steady, low voice. This shows us that Salva was afraid of the lions and he needed
someone to comfort him. This also shows that without Uncle Jewiir Salva would probably be long
gone. It also says in chapter 9 (page 53) that As if by magic, Uncle was suddenly at his side. Salva
Mawien Dut Ariik! he said, using Salva s full name, loud and clear. Salva lifted his head, the sobs
interrupted by surprise. Do you see that group of bushes? Uncle said, pointing. You need to only walk
as far as those bushes. Can you do that, Salva Mawien Dut Ariik? This shows us that Uncle Jewiir s
advice helped him a lot and what Uncle was trying to imply to Salva was to take a step at a time
instead of taking it all in one time. Not only did Uncle Jewiir s advice help now, but years later too. He

In some cases, you won t even be able to chew and swallow properly because of the swelling and the

We Choose To Go To The American Spirit Speech Summary
John F. Kennedy s Passionate Appeal to the American Spirit: We Choose to Go to the Moon On
September 12, 1962, John F. Kennedy gave a rhetorically sound speech at Rice University in Houston,
Texas with the intent to rally American support for his space exploration proposition. Kennedy had
proposed his plan to congress a couple months before and this speech was his call to the American
people to stand behind him. While the speech is remembered for its famous line, We choose to go to

beyond the people that were in Rice Stadium that day. His message was intended for the entire

Kennedy first conveys America s scientific position by stating, Despite the striking fact that most of
the scientists that the world has ever known are alive and working today... the unanswered and the
unfinished still far outstrip our collective comprehension. While the first sentence could have been
worded better to express that there are more scientists active than ever before, this section of the
speech conveys that America has many unanswered questions, but it also has the scientific manpower
to answer these questions in order to make space travel a reality. As Kennedy progresses, he
condenses human history into a 50 year timespan with an emphasis on scientific advancements in
order to give the audience perspective by establishing where humankind has been. As he goes from the

  • 2. Summary Of Ma Joad In The Grapes Of Wrath Ma Joad is the driving force. She is determined to get to California, because she believes that life will be better in California. Because she is so keen on getting to California, she often tries to take the power of the family, and take the man s job. Ma believes that the family will get to California only with the desire of everyone involved, and only if everyone participates in making it happen. She keeps motivation strong throughout the entire book. Even though she often confines herself to gender roles, she is often able to take power to motivate the group to move on, even in the toughest situations. Occasionally when the Joads and company are not motivated to do something Ma will step up and take control of the group, even though that is Pa s role. In one case she grabbed a jackhammer, and the eyes of the whole family shifted back to Ma. She was the power. She had taken control (169). Although Ma taking power like this is frightening to the Joads, it is the only way that the Joads are able to make it to California together. In this case Ma is opposing moving on, but the words of the group encourage Ma to look at the other side and she later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Rosalind And Benjamin Franklin Overall, I thought the film provided a unique perspective on the race to discovering the structure of DNA. Out of the many films I had watched on this topic, there were few that focused on the significance of Rosalind s contribution. This film portrayed how Watson and Crick unfairly took information and credit from Franklin. After their study was put to a halt, Watson and Crick bounced back from their slump all thanks to Franklin s diffraction image. Frankly speaking, Franklin was a spy. He snuck into a fairly discrete conference where Rosalind presented her findings. Additionally, he admitted to snooping around her office when she was not there. The sad part was that she unfortunately passed away before having the chance to see the impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The key to Watson and Crick s success was their ability to think beyond the narrow images of the world. Instead of approaching the issue from a typical perspective, Watson and Crick went about their own style of thought. They were days where all they did was take walks and talk. This allowed them to free their minds so that they could concentrate on the big ideas. Given so, I think that having a liberal arts education gives me the opportunity to explore other disciplines. I am currently a Biology major. However, I have gotten the chance to take other non science/major related classes that have been broaden scope of knowledge. From many of my classes, I have learned to not just focus on learning all the facts. Many times, it is more important to look at the big idea and thereafter, to incorporate in the ... Frankenstein is an important must read because it provides real life symbols. These symbols that humanize or dehumanize the monster and Victor to make them relatable to dark and light qualities. In the novel, Mary Shelley employs the concept of light and dark to epitomize the underlying meanings in the text, allowing the readers to take it and escapade it in their minds and take the story to another level rather than the average novel. • 6. Essay about Barbie as a Real Woman is Anatomically... Millions of girls around the world are dressing their Barbie dolls in skimpy designer outfits and high heel shoes, and slide her slender legs into a bright pink convertible next to her male counterpart, Ken. These same girls will gaze into the mirror, staring at their thighs and hair, and attempt to balance themselves in a pair of their mother s high heel shoes. They will wonder why they do not look like Barbie. They will wonder today, just as I wondered years ago. As the years of make believe with the American plastic icon of girlhood nostalgia passed, I discovered Barbie s hidden effects. Although Barbie lent herself to fond memories of childhood, she also influenced my early ideal image of the female body. As I began to realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the years, the hair and outfit changed, but the body has remained the same, an ample chest, long legs, and lean arms and neck. Her firm, plastic body did not compare with my short legs and chunky arms. What do an anorexic woman and a Barbie doll have in common? They are the same size. If Barbie was a real woman, out in the real world, she would not be standing, but actually be on all fours. Her feet would be too small to hold up her abundant upper half. She would tower at 7 2 and weigh 101 pounds. This skyscraper of a woman would not be able to bear children and only have enough room for a few inches of intestines. I, on the other hand, am blessed to have twenty five feet of intestines and the room to hold them. Barbie is a girl s introduction to the ideal image of the female body. As she matures, she picks up an issue of Glamour or Allure, Elle or Fitness, in an attempt to educate her on how to fight off every bulge and run off the weight to keep her man. I know these women, these girls, as I am and was one of them. If only Matell could create a doll after Sandro Botticelli s painting of the ideal woman in his masterpiece, Birth of Venus. If she were the ideal image of the female body, it would be much more realistic. If Venus were a real woman, she would be 5 4 and 140 pounds. Unlike Barbie, she would have plenty of room for ... • 7. The Interrelationship Between The Overcoat And Gogol The interrelationship between The Overcoat, written by Nikolai Gogol, and Gogol, written by Jhumpa Lahiri, may not be apparent at first, but with the help of My Two Lives, also written by Jhumpa Lahiri, one can see that both The Overcoat and Gogol are connected by ties that hold them together. Although Gogol and the speaker in My Two Lives share similar backgrounds and can directly relate to each other, Akaky can also connect to Lahiri and Gogol because all they all yearn for acceptance from those around them. One point of comparison is the practice of naming connects Akaky, from The Overcoat , and Gogol together by having similar practices. Another similarity between all three works is that each main character questions their identity, eventually overcoming their struggle of being seen as different. Both Akaky Akakiyevich, and Gogol Ganguli live in cultures where their names have substantial meaning. Although the way that a person is named differs from culture to culture, the naming process has similar characteristics. Readers can infer from both The Overcoat and Gogol that names in Russian and Bengali have significant meaning and helps shape who the person is when they grow older. • 8. Persuasive Essay On Prison Reform Today, it seems almost incomprehensible that so many people with serious mental illnesses reside in prisons instead of receiving treatment. Over a century and a half ago, reform advocates like Dorothea Dix campaigned for prison reform, urging lawmakers to house the mentally ill in hospitals rather than in prisons. The efforts undertaken by Dix and other like minded reformers were successful: from around 1870 to 1970, most of the United States mentally ill population was housed in hospitals rather than in prisons. Considering reformers made great strides in improving this situation over a century and a half ago. Granted, mental hospitals in the late 19th and early 20th century were often badly run and critically flawed, but rather than pushing for reform of these hospitals, many politicians lobbied for them to close their doors, switching instead to a community based system for treating the mentally ill. Although deinstitutionalization was originally understood as a humane way to offer more suitable services to the mentally ill in community based settings, some politicians seized upon it as a way to save money by shutting down institutions without providing any meaningful treatment alternatives. This callousness has created a one way road to prison for massive numbers of impaired individuals and the inhumane warehousing of thousands of mentally ill people. Nevertheless, there are things that can be done to lower the rate mentally ill persons are being incarcerated. Such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Offerer Acceptance (Law) Offer and acceptance is one the main 7 essentials to create a legally binding contract since a contract is based on agreement. It is also an essential for a court to arbitrate problems. An offer is a manifestation (orally, in writing, or by conduct) of willingness to enter into bargain, which justifies another person s understanding of assent to that bargain is invited and will conclude the transaction. An Offeror is the party who makes the offer. An offeree is the party who receives the offer and is asked to accept it and thus form a contract. An offer can be either bilateral (made to a specific person(s)) or unilateral form (made to the whole world). (Frey Frey, 2001) An invitation to treat or invitation to chaffer is where a person ... In Kavitha s case she conveyed her acceptance clearly in verbal form while she arrived with a cheque which she handed over to Manuja therefore as she has accepted the offer validly and an agreement exists thus Kavitha can sue Manjula for Breach of contract. The offerors act of withdrawing an offer is referred to as revocation. Unless an offer is irrevocable, the offeror can revoke the offer even if he or she has promised to keep the offer open (Miller Jentz, 2010). Revocation of offers should be made the same way offers were made as established in the case of Shuey v US. Manjula s revocation of the offer fails because an offer cannot be reversed once it has been accepted i.e. in a case like Payne v Cave the highest bidder could withdraw his bid before the hammer was brought down (before acceptance) but in the case of Bryne v Van Tienhoven the acceptor could not revoke his offer because he already accepted it. Thus Kavitha will be able to successfully sue for breach of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are commercials depicting the same things but what if the real picture was not as serene as it seemed? Milk, eggs, butter, meat, yogurt, and many other products sold in grocery stores come from industrialized farming operations. These operations are also called factory farms or confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs). The need and the desire for something like these CAFOs is understandable but the conditions are absolutely deplorable. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Americans have gone from eating roughly 234lbs of meat per capita in 980 to 273lbs in 2007 (qtd. Pluhar 2). In the past meat was a side on a dinner plate but as years have gone on, meat has become the main event. The increased demand for meat, as stated above, has caused issues with both the environment and animal welfare. But the demand has also caused issues with the welfare of humans. One of the issues humans face are the pathogens that are released from stressed, immune compromised, containment filled food animals (qtd. Pluhar 2). Because of the increased exposure, humans are more susceptible to diseases (qtd. Pluhar 2). Food borne illnesses are a big issue and since the commercialization of farming, the number of cases of food borne illnesses has grown. 76 million people are hit by fouled food annually in the United States. 5,000 of those people die (qtd. Pluhar 2). This is due to the slack regulations in the industry. Studies have been done in low CAFOs regions versus regions with a high concentration of CAFOs. One study showed that people were more likely to develop eczema in the regions with a high concentration of CAFOs. It could be argued that the increase in illnesses and the increase in factory farms could be completely unrelated. But research should be done to provide conclusive evidence showing the relationship between the two. People should be able to eat their food without worrying about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When my parents finalized their divorce, it was decided that for the majority of the summer we would stay with our mother. The divorce occurred when my brothers and I were very young. My mother lived in a small, unremarkable town named Evart that is north of Lansing. Our grandmother lived in the outskirts of nearby Reed City. We spent most of our time during the summer at her cramped little trailer. The trailer she lived in was on a decently sized plot of land. Her home was situated on a hill that leveled out quickly as the path led to the road. The yard was expansive with hard brown grass covering a small portion with dirt covering the rest. On one side of the trailer was a large red barn with chipped paint. On the other side was an old brown camper that held two beds and an old television with an antenna resting on the top. There was no backyard as the trailer was a few feet from a wooden fence that had barbed wire across the top to stop the neighbor s horses from entering the property. The book Rip Van Winkle , written in the early 1800s by Washington Irving, is a great representation of American Mythology because it incorporates characteristics that establish the identity of a nation such as, people, images, and events. Irving s story Rip Van Winkle is set in the pre and post Revolutionary War Periods, and during this time the colonies expressed great discontent of being under the rule of King George III of Great Britain. Irving s, use of larger than life characters, interesting places, and mysterious events, illustrated the extreme desire for freedom, lifestyle, and value systems for the people during the pre and post war periods. First, Irving implements American values through very captivating characters. The characters can be compared to the everyday life of the citizens of early America. An example of this is Rip s marriage to his wife Dame Van Winkle. In the story, Irving described Dame Van Winkle as being sharp tongued and relentlessly nagging, morning, noon, and night, her tongue was incessantly going and everything he said or did was sure to produce a torrent of household eloquence (65). Chemical kinetics concerns the rates of chemical reactions and what factors affects these rates (Iodine Clock, 2017). Temperature, concentration, pressure of reacting gases, surface area of reacting solids and the use of catalysts are all factors which affect the rate of a reaction (Bbc.co.uk, 2017). This is because they affect the reaction roles and yields of activation energy, product management and reactant management (William, 2017). This is accomplished by making changes to the concentration, pressure or temperature of a reaction to alter the position of the equilibrium (Bbc.co.uk, 2017). Accordingly, the ... The Importance Of The Re-Organization Of Society The Fabians believed strongly in the importance of the re organization of Society by creating local governments and working for the extinction of private property. They desired municipalization of Land and local government according to the Fabian Parliamentary League s Tract, The True Radical Programme (1887, p. 7). By giving power to local governments, the Society felt national wealth could be better circulated and citizens could be better represented. This radically modern notion is expressed in this strongly worded declaration, So long as the government is not government by the people, of the people, for the people, it can matter little to the people whether it s a seat at the capital or at the local centres (Fabian Parliamentary League, 1887, p. 4). As with many Socialist platforms, land and private property were constant issues. Similar to their radical neighbours the SDF, the Fabians believed in the extinction of private property meaning the removal of property from individual ownership and placing it back into the hands of the community (Shaw, 1899, p. 30). Another major objective of the movement was creating a more equal society where men and women were equal, and all had the right to vote ( The Guardian , 2001). • 28. When I Have Managed To Make My Wife Summary The author begins the story with a line that sets the entire story. The first line of the story is, The truth of the matter is: I have managed to make my wife very, very small. The narrator goes on to explain it was not intentional and the miniaturization was an accident. The author then has the narrator give background information and explain the story of what happens to his wife and himself. The story ends with the extreme measures the miniature wife has taken upon herself to torture the narrator. The miniature wife sets trip wires throughout the home and sticks tiny spears in the carpet. The first scenes of the story are about the wife and the miniaturization. The next scenes following explain how upset the wife is with her current state. She does things to the narrator that mess with his appearance by dulling his razors and removing the buttons on his clothes. The narrator keeps issues to himself because he doesn t want to lose his job or there be a police investigation. The narrator then makes a dollhouse for his wife and does until the end of the story where she invites her husband to have dinner at home, and when he comes home she is naked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I thought this story was very ambitious. It reminded me of an old movie called Honey I Shrunk The Kids. The process of making a human the size of a coffee mug is rather far off, I enjoyed the humor the author added. The things that the wife would do to the husband I felt sorry for him, but at the same time they were such little things a miniature person would do if they were home all day and bored. I think the wife did those things to the narrator because she blames him for what has happened to her. The author on top of the ambitious story then has the wife cheat on her husband. This twist I was surprised by; I thought there was going to be a happy ending between the two was they would reconcile and perhaps the husband would shrink himself. I felt the author made the story grander by adding the twist at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A positive relationship between the student and the teacher is difficult to establish, but can be found for both individuals. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those teachers, who demonstrate respect towards their students, automatically win favor by having active learners in their classroom. The arrogant or offensive teacher will lack these positive qualities due to his or her lack of control over the children. Teachers should assert that they should also be treated with respect .Teachers can blend their warmth and firmness towards the students in their classroom, but with realistic limits. Teachers who are in a classroom might have experienced one time or other students who are disruptive or find learning boring. Teachers understand that if this behavior continues in the classroom and if they do nothing to prevent this from happening, the outcome proves to be disastrous for both types of participants. The student will conclude that his or her behavior is permissible, and will draw away from learning; therefore it is essentially important for the teacher to explain to the child the importance to learn. Though we understand that learning cannot be forced, learning becomes a process for an individual where he or she feels comfortable with learning whether it s in a classroom or at clinics. Children in first year feel the urge to talk about their problems, fears, or even show their knowledge, but at the same time they want to be listened too. The student will feel valued and respected. The second survival factor that made survival possible for Salva was Uncle Jewiir s advice. Not only was his advice a survival factor, but he himself was a survival factor. While Salva was crossing the desert in chapter 7 he found himself losing hope. But Uncle Jewiir didn t let that happen. He made sure to stay by Salva s side when he needed somebody for comfort and he gave advice. According to chapter 7 (page 41), it states that If it hadn t been Uncle, Salva might have gone crazy with fear. Uncle spoke to him all morning in a steady, low voice. This shows us that Salva was afraid of the lions and he needed someone to comfort him. This also shows that without Uncle Jewiir Salva would probably be long gone. It also says in chapter 9 (page 53) that As if by magic, Uncle was suddenly at his side. Salva Mawien Dut Ariik! he said, using Salva s full name, loud and clear. Salva lifted his head, the sobs interrupted by surprise. Do you see that group of bushes? Uncle said, pointing. You need to only walk as far as those bushes. Can you do that, Salva Mawien Dut Ariik? Kennedy gave a rhetorically sound speech at Rice University in Houston, Texas with the intent to rally American support for his space exploration proposition. Kennedy had proposed his plan to congress a couple months before and this speech was his call to the American people to stand behind him. While the speech is remembered for its famous line, We choose to go to the moon, it was a carefully constructed piece of rhetoric.
