Descriptive Essay About My Mandala
My Mandala A Mandala is a circular design that is seen throughout many cultures around the world. It
is a symbolic piece of art used for enlightenment, protection, healing, or something else depending on
the culture. They are often made for meditation as well, and even deconstructed at the end. The
Mandala I created expresses who I am. It spans from my hobbies and favorite places to my ethnicity.
This Mandala has helped me to understand who I am, and how I ve changed and grown throughout
these 14 years. The middle of my Mandala represents the love I have for my family. The heart
represents love, and the people circling it are my family, from both of my parents sides. I made it so
that every family member was wearing a different colored shirt to represent diversity, and my
grandfather and grandmother are wearing Disney merchandise because of their passion for Disney.
My mom and her sister Zdanna are wearing matching necklaces, to represent their connection with
each other, and they actually do have similar necklaces. The large portion on the left symbolizes how
much I went to Disney World as a kid, and how I grew up watching Disney movies. I love watching
the fireworks and Tinkerbell flying over the Magic Kingdom, so I drew those onto my mandala. The
three people watching the fireworks are my mom, my dad, and me. I am on my dad s shoulders
because that is how I was able to see the princesses and villains performing above everybody. Once
when I was 3 years old,

Classroom Oral Interaction
Classroom oral interaction plays an important role in language classroom.
Besides, it gives more dynamics to the teaching learning process, especially when students actively
participate. This verbal interaction is realized in oral activities, like conversations. It is one of the
primary means by which learning is accomplished in classroom (Hall, 2003). It shows that the
classroom oral interaction is a reflection of the learning process.
Moreover, language classroom interaction provides the facility for the students to use the target
language they possess in real life exchange (Rivers cited in Tuan and Nhu, 2010). Hence, through the
oral interaction the teacher can provide opportunities to the students to use the target language orally

The study revealed that the classroom oral interaction lacked of students participation in giving
initiation and follow up. It can be seen from the following chart.
3
Chart 1.1.IRF Pattern (Juniarti, 2010)
To conclude, the previous study described above reveals that the participations of the students are
dominated by their role as the responder.
Meanwhile, they missed their chance to participate in giving initiation and followup. Also, the fact
that teachers are still dominant in interactions indicates that learning process seems to be teacher
centered.
Likewise, during the PPL program (2011), the same situation was found in some English classes in
SMP 47 where students participated only to respond to the teacher s initiations. The question is are the
students interpersonal functions helpful as means to improve their language? If no, the oral interaction
in the classroom will be useless since it doesn t support the participants, the teacher and students, to
reach the goal of the learning process. This is another reason why the students participation in
classroom oral interaction is important to

Bowen Family Systems Theory
The couple I chose for this case study is the older, married couple, Albert and Marion Mazur. I chose
this couple while watching the documentary, Love, Etc. In this documentary, five couples were
followed and featured, among those, Albert and Marion were the couple that displayed complete unity.
Married for over fifty years, these two individuals define Dr. Murray Bowen s family systems theory.
Basically, the theory focuses on whatever occurs in an individual s life affects his or her family. In
order to understand one person in a family, it is imperative to view each individual as a member of the
family. Therefore, the couple s history and marriage will be explored using the Bowen Family
Systems Theory. The concepts of the theory in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, there are, in fact, four parts of the theory connecting and interlocking in a hierarchy system.
Background
Albert and Marion Mazur began their relationship working together as songwriters. They both played
the piano and wrote songs before they actually met. Living less than a mile from each other, their
meeting was not love at first sight, but their mutual love for music. After working together for a few
years, they married. They were happy and in love, yet still continued with their love of songwriting
and making music. Little did they know what the future had in store for them as a couple. Marion s
health began to decline with the early signs of dementia, whereas their roles as they once knew, soon
would be reversed (Andresevic, 2013).
Theoretical Foundation According to Bowen s family system theory, the Mazur s, demonstrated many
of the facets related to the concepts within the hierarchy of the connected systems. First, the concept
of wholeness was evident by their actions when they were together versus apart. Before they were a
couple, they were living as single, independent persons and each would be viewed differently than
when they became a couple. The two of them being together or whole was much greater than
summing them up as parts. Next, their roles and interdependence essentially intertwine when they

The Role of the Circus Folk in Hard Times by Charles...
The Role of the Circus Folk in Hard Times by Charles Dickens
The role of the circus is both complex and simple it is in itself a contradiction; it has been placed
within the novel to add another dimension to the story of Coketown but also to show how fragile
human nature can be. The circus folks role are complicated in their simplicity, they are of course there
to carry out the role that they are paid to perform as actors or performers as well as being there for the
second more complicated role of showing the notion of fancy within the novel. It is this second role
which this essay will strive to discuss and discover.
There are many sides to the circus it is a multi talented organisation ... Show more content on

The modern reader may or may not have recognised from her description of her fathers job that she
was a circus child. When Gradgrind hears her name he becomes annoyed and insists that she no longer
allow her father to refer to her as Sissy but instead he must call her Cecilia call yourself Cecilia
(Charles Dickens: page 4 Hard Times 1854). The fact That Sissy s father has a pet name for her is
important because it shows emotion within her family, she has a bond with her father that we would
refer to as affection or even love, Gradgrind and Coketown do not recognise these emotions but view
them as fancy, nothing serious or factual about them. The purpose of the school is to produce future
citizens of Coketown that are uniform and do not question what could have been, Sissy does not fit
within this mould as she feels and by feeling she has fancies which is against the principal ideas of
Coketown.
The reader s introduction to the circus as an event within Coketown comes in what can be considered
a surprising way. Whilst Gradgrind is walking home past the circus he notice his own children who
have been raised on fact alone watching the circus Gradgrind s exclamation of In the name of wonder,
Idleness and folly (Charles Dickens: page 15, Hard Times, 1854) is an unusual

Museum Artwork Analysis
When I started this project I had a strong feeling that I knew what exactly I wanted, I had planned all
the needed steps made all the necessary calls before submitting my proposal. The start of the project
seemed like all was going perfectly well until I had certain issues which I had always challenged
myself with. My main aim was to create canvas images to represent and keep the history created
around the 16th century by sculptors from the Yoruba and Benin cultures in Nigeria. The first question
that created a major problem for me was picking the typeface for the project, I needed to pick a
typeface that did not have that much representation with the western culture and also was legible and
could flow well with the imagery and the designs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of folk stories tell the origin of the Benin empire but stories are said to say that the people of
Benin empire are related to Oranmiyan who is the last child of Oduduwa. It is said that Oranmiyan left
his son Eweka in Benin to rule over them before he returned back to Ile Ife which shows the
connection between the Benin and Yoruba culture. I decided to represent the two strong culture by
using shades of black and white and I used two major languages Yoruba and English which are the
language spoken by both the Benin empire and the people from Ile Ife and also English is the official
language spoken by the people from Nigeria, not forgetting the audience we are trying to reach the
young generation of Nigeria who have forgotten or have no idea of their culture. My typeface Ubuntu
played a major role in the finishing of this particular art because I wanted to show how intriguing the
story of the Benin empire was and still keep sure the design was simple which the typeface did make
sure of, the typeface was overlaid and distorted on the Iyabosa s visage to depict the fact that she can t

This traffic shaping tech prioritizes gaming and video streaming to smooth out connection speeds for a
better overall experience. This is done by allocating and limiting portions of the bandwidth based on
the type of data being transferred. If someone gets on one computer and starts a large download, it will
not affect someone watching a movie on a different computer.
Gigabit ethernet connections for both the WAN and LAN ensure the fastest file transfer speeds
available. This prevents any bottlenecks between the router and modem to take full advantage of your
high speed internet connection. Additionally, file sharing between up to 4 ethernet connected home
computers will be lightning fast.
Belkin has included it s MultiBeam antenna technology that minimizes signal dead spots. Walls and
obstructions can cause signal loss, and this feature corrects for that as much as possible. Additionally,
the Self Healing feature will detect connection and network issues automatically a repair them for you.
Two USB 2.0 ports allow this router to be easily connected to a network enabled printer or shared file

Descriptive Essay On A Concert
Concert Nights
The feeling was chimerical. Seeing these bands up close was an amazing experience.
This summer I attended two concerts, and just thinking about how those bands were in the same place
as me is just something I will never forget.
I ve been to concerts before, but I ve never seen notorious bands, it was always local bands. This
summer I saw Nickelback and Green Day. I saw Nickelback and Green Day back to back, and they
were both on school nights so I can assure you I was tired the next morning. Those concerts were the
best concerts I have ever been to in my life.
My mom and I have wanted to see Nickelback for a while so when my mom told me we were going to
witness them in concert I went haywire. I ve wanted to go for such an enduring time. The concert was
primarily scheduled for June 23 but was sadly cancelled due to flash flooding. I was pretty bummed
out, but my mom was turbulent because she had been waiting for years to go see them in concert and
was scared that the tickets she bought would go to waste. We later found out that we could still use the
tickets, but unfortunately the concert was rescheduled on a school night, but my mom made it very
clear that we were not missing this concert what so ever. So on August 15 my mom, my two uncles,
my mom s friend, and I headed down to Noblesville. When we got there we pulled into the parking lot
and saw a car with the name Lillian on it, which was to some extent funny as a result of my mom s

Ultra Running Essay
Running is the purest form of exercise. Its simplicity requires minimal equipment or experience, as the
running motion is an innate movement for the human body. More specifically ultra running is beyond
the marathon distance of 26.2 miles and incorporates distances of 50, 100, and 200 mile races. While
it takes any novice athlete to take part in the simple act of running a few advanced individuals turn
running into an art form and expand their expertise to endurance running as seen in ultra marathon
competitions. Running is currently applicable to society as the proportion of obese to healthy
individuals continues to increase. As a result of the obesity epidemic health and wellness has hit major
media headlines running in general has transformed into the most popular mode of exercise. The
increasing popularity in running has brought more attention to the specific world of ultra running and
researchers, health practitioners, and the media have become critics of the how running extreme
distances can be detrimental to health. While many argue that ultra running will pose greater health
risks for the competing individuals, historically distance running has been a crucial component of
human survival and evolution further supporting the development of biomechanical and physiological
health benefits. Despite the skepticism, ultra running provides holistic health benefits and does not
subject the competing individual to increased health complications or risk of injury.

The s Biggest Strategic Asset
Ralan knew that his biggest strategic asset was his biggest tactical weakness his yellow tunic. It would
make him a clear target for every knight in the Tower. It would distract them all from his friends
escape, but it also made him stand out in the sea of white, making him much easier to catch. He didn t
think much about it until he made it through the front gate of the Tower.
Getting there wasn t very difficult. The knights all wore their armor, whether it was the thick
ornamental armor or the chain mail of the working knights. Ralan found it easy to sprint past one
knight while dodging another. In fact, his entire life had consisted of him running through crowds and
avoiding outstretched hands.
One of the things Ralan had mastered was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The knight set his legs, and swung his sword in front of him.
With a slight leap, Ralan feigned a punch. The knight brought up his sword only to see Ralan dive
toward his feet. Just as the guard brought his sword down, Ralan slide between his legs, the smooth
marble of the Tower floor offering little resistance. It wasn t a perfect fit, which was fine for Ralan. He
tugged on the knight s white cloak, which pulled him up and the knight backward. As the knight fell
he got in the way of the other knights. By the time they had realized what had happened, Ralan was in
the the grass field beyond the Tower s large iron doors.
He had escaped so quickly that there was confusion as shouts and alarm klaxons rang. Shouts of Stop
him! were followed by knights looking around for who they were supposed to stop. This is almost too
easy, Ralan thought, as a cry of Stop the Craftsman came from the Tower. Moments later an arrow hit
the ground at Ralan s feet.
Yellow tunic. Surrounded by white. Archers on the Wall. Not good, Ralan thought. And then he saw it.
A large wagon with four horses pulling it. It was on the side of the road with a broken wheel. Thank
you, Maela, Ralan thought. He zig zagged through the field, arrows barely missing him.
Sprinting around the wagon, he stopped as it shielded him from the archers on the wall. He quickly
pulled off his yellow tunic and tossed it on the ground. With a quick sprint, he ran up and leapt onto

Christ Figure In J. R. Tolkien s The Lord Of The Rings
The Lord of the Rings has many Christ figures in it. Most people think that Gandalf is the only Christ
figure, but he is not. Because Tolkien did not like allegory there are many others. Such as Samwise
Gamgee, Frodo Baggins, Aragorn, and Tom Bombadil. Aragorn is a Christ figure because he is the
true and rightful king. Aragorn, at first, seems to be an insignificant character. He seems to be just a
news bearer. As the reader gets to know more about Aragorn they learn what he truly is. He is the true
King, or in other words the King of all. Not only to the reader did it seem that he was insignificant, but
also to his fellow companions:
Gimli and Legolas looked at their companion in amazement, for they had not seen him in this mood
before. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of
our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
This poem and scripture, as shown above, are very similar. When Tolkien wrote All that is gold does
not glitter , it was him trying to tie a connection in between him and Christ when Isaiah wrote, and
when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. What this is actually saying is
what happened to Christ. When everyone saw Christ teaching they just thought he was a carpenter s
son and did not listen. They had judged him, think that gold has to glitter. When in reality, All that is
gold does not glitter. (170)
Even before he was King, Aragorn number lessly shown aspects of what a true king does. He showed
kindness throughout the whole story. He had asked forgiveness when it was needed. Even though
some could not see him as a true King he was. He wandered his whole life looking to help. He was
just full of service. Aragorn did what he could do everytime. A little further there is a place where we
can rest for a little. There I will do what I can for you. Come, Boromir! We will carry them.

The Negative Impacts Of Integrity In Society
Brené Brown once said, Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what
is fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them. Integrity
is threatened everyday by three major combatants: cheating, lying, and plagiarizing. Many do not
realize the extent of their actions. Life is like the domino effect: an action always affects someone
else. When a person lacking integrity makes a decision, the people affected are often wounded in the
process. A lack of integrity leads to a life of negative impacts with the three main threats to integrity
being cheating, lying, and plagiarizing. Cheating is universal, and it is very similar worldwide.
According to the LA Times, Teachers say that hiding cheat sheets in socks, copying neighbors answers
and scribbling notes on walls are the most common tactics. Test papers routinely are leaked as well,
often by low level school employees who sell them for the equivalent of a few dollars, and sometimes
by teachers or administrators whose professional standing rises if students perform well (Shashank
Bengali 3). This shows that children were not only ones benefitting from cheating. The children
themselves benefitted by passing the tests, but the others benefitted in monetary and social standings.
Although children benefit immediately from cheating, there are negative impacts in the long run. In an
article by Bengali, Madhukar Yadhav says, ...they are used to

Fence Rail Research Paper
Has the chain link fence rail surrounding your commercial property recently been bent in a storm or as
the result of an intruder? If so, you may be worried that repairing this damage will cost a small fortune
and require the use of a professional contractor. However, the truth is, you can limit the impact that
these repairs have on your budget by simply choosing to do the job yourself. Best of all, completing
this task can be much easier than you think when simply following the steps outlined below.
Supplies You Will Need

Begin by measuring the space between your fencing posts to ensure you are choosing the right size
rail for the job. Next, remove the post cap, brace bands, and tension bands from the fencing post on
one side of the new rail. This will allow you to slide the new rail into place.
After sliding the rail into place, simply attach the end of the rail to the rail cap. Next, replace the brace
bands to hold the rail in place.
Step 3: Attach Chain Link
Stretch the chain link over the posts and ensure that the brace bands and post caps are in place before
using your pliers to tighten the bolts that connect this fencing material to your newly installed rail.
While this process can be completed on your own, it is much easier to complete with two set of hands
so don t be afraid to ask a co worker or friend for help.
Once the chain link is in place, reattach the tension bars that were removed in the previous step. This
will hold the fencing tight between the surrounding fence posts.
Finally, use your tie wires to secure the chain link to your new top rail.

Oppositional Defiant Disorder In Jacob s Case
Conduct disorder may be diagnosed whenever a child or adolescent seriously misbehaves by using
aggressive or non aggressive conduct against other individuals, property, or animals. This behavior
may be characterized as destructive, threatening, deceitful, belligerent, dishonest, physically cruel, or
disobedient. Among these behaviors one may find stealing, causing intentional injury, or forced sexual
activity. The behavioral disorder does not consist of an isolated incident, but rather of a pattern of
severe and repetitive behavior. However, in Jacob s case there are signs of Oppositional Defiant

deliberately bothers people; will blame everyone else for their behavior and mistakes; is generally
angry, resentful, spiteful or vindictive; and is often touchy or easily annoyed by the actions or
inactions of others. The diagnosis for oppositional defiant disorder is considered only when the
behavior occurs more frequently than it is usually observed in individuals of a comparable
developmental level and similar age. The conduct of the adolescent and the conflicts he may have with
adults will vary from the inevitable clash that may exist between teenagers and parents/authority
figures. While normal conflict or rebellion may be a temporary or isolated incident, oppositional
defiant disorder occurs when such conflict becomes severe and out of control. Moreover, in order for
the diagnosis to be made, this disturbing behavior must cause significant issues at the personal,
academic, professional, and social levels. Oppositional defiant disorder shouldn t be diagnosed if the
medical professional suspects that the behavior is being directly caused by another psychological

Shakespeare s Use Of Metatheatre In Hamlet
Metatheatricality in William Shakespeare s Hamlet
There play within a play is a dramatic device used by Shakespeare to explore the human psyche s
ability to manoeuvre and manipulate by staging performances . Shakespeare premises the entire drama
upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade in order
to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting of The
Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and validate
Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. Shakespeare, in my opinion, hints
at the futility of such drastic pretence and enactment with the use tragic irony that concludes the play.

From a psychological point of view, feigned madness can be grounds on which Hamlet s future
actions can be legitimised, if not at least be accounted for. To commit a murder for the purpose of
revenge, on the basis of a spirit s account would seem rather absurd but by proclaiming madness, the
entire prospect is more believable and by that extension, validates the possibility of such an account.
More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies
(transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching (
Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles
internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the King s
murder. Although Polonius incorrectly attributes
Hamlet s madness to Ophelia s love, his detection that Though this be madness, yet there is method in

Lake Mountain Research Paper
On Sunday morning, Mum and Dad decided to bring us to toboggan at Lake Mountain. We woke up at
7:45am in the morning, got changed and started our journey to Lake Mountain. As we were driving
along Plenty Rd, we stopped at the Bundoora Hungry Jacks for breakfast. Although, the bacon egg
muffin was crispy, it didn t have the same taste as the normal muffin. Despite this, we continued our
trip to Lake Mountain. Our adventure to Lake Mountain consisted of many winding roads and narrow
roads. After two hours of driving, we reached Fernshaw and the fog was thickening but soon after, we
reached Marysville. In Marysville, we hired toboggans and snow boots from the local store. After that,
we made our way up the mountain and saw huge piles of snow along the side of the road. On the top
of the mountain, we paid a car entry of $57 and parked the car in the car park.
We changed into our ski attire and headed towards the Village , where the main toboggan slope was.
We had a few goes down the mountain and experienced many different difficulties along the way.
After 20 minutes worth of fun, we headed down to the Koala Creek. The Koala Creek was a
tobogganing slope made out of dry ice and had a few rocky and slippery areas. It also had some
bumps and dips towards the end of the slope. We had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Should Athletes Be Drug Tested In Schools Essay
Should Athletes be drug tested for school
Most schools have student codes of conduct and/or athletic codes of conduct that state illicit drugs are
not to be used and most include tobacco as a banned substance . The should drug test them because it
would be safe for the school and can protect the kids from any harmful accidents. The sport the kid is
playing could be harmful if he/she is taking drugs or any other substance. We need to stop the use of
drugs in school and in sports. If we do that, then the community will be safer and the world will be a
safer place.
Usually, people in the workforce and professional athletes are subjected to random drug tests. Many
companies or businesses have random drug tests and it throws people off guard when they have them.
I believe that it is the best thing to do when it comes to drug testing. Random drug tests are good
because they can t do anything to prepare for it if they don t know about it. People can prepare for a
drug test if they know it s coming so they do everything they can to get the substance out of their
system. Unless there is definite proof that a high school athlete is engaging in illegal activities, there is
absolutely no reason to violate their human rights . This is wrong because some people could not

and the movie, the family has a large garden in which many animals live (movie). Especially, in the
movie, you can see that the bungalow and the surrounding garden are all beautiful and that the family
really loves living in such a beautiful place. In the book, the picture of the bungalow shows that it is a
beautiful place to live in (Kipling 145). A difference between the setting in the book and the movie is
that in the book it describes the garden, around the bungalow, as having flowers and a lot of beautiful

Why Is Characterization Important In The Veldt
Why is characterization important? Having realistic characters contribute in
connecting the readers to the story. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s
The Veldt, realistic characters are a product of the environment through the author s use
of descriptive writing with a forbidding or positive tone, use of literary devices and strong
character development. This indicates that characters are realistic regardless if the
setting is familiar or unfamiliar to the reader.
Author uses descriptive writing to characterize a person, thing or place in a way
that an image is created in the reader s mind. Tone plays an significant role in
descriptive writing as it can either be forbidding or favorable. In The Veldt, authors use
descriptive writing to help readers understand the unfamiliar setting. The narrator
creates an image of the nursery in a favorable tone by saying The hot straw smell of
lion grass, the cool green smell of the hidden water hole, the great rusty smell of
animals, the smell of dust like a red paprika in the hot air. (Bradbury 1) The use of
descriptive writing in The Veldt helps the reader understand and familiarize themselves
with the unusual setting which contributes in making the character seem realistic. In this
specific example, tone also contributes in helping readers understand the narrators
state of mind while describing the nursery. In Eleven when Rachel did not want the
sweater anywhere near her, [She] shoved the red sweater to

Drug And Substance Abuse In The LGBT Community
Addiction is a complex and progressive disease that can affect anyone at any time in their lives. No
matter your race, sex, and cultural background, substance abuse can be a destroyer of lives. While
drug and alcohol abuse presents many challenges for any demographic group, the LGBT community
has experienced substance abuse rates that are higher than any other group. It is important to look at
the extent of addiction in the LGBT community. It is also important that we look at how those within
the LGBT community can find the treatment and supports they need to become clean and sober.
Substance abuse refers to any continued pathological use of a medication, non medically indicated
drug. Substance abuse is likely to be diagnosed among people who have just started taking drugs and
is often seen as an early symptom of substance dependence. However, substance dependence can
show without substance abuse, and substance abuse can last for long periods of time without a turning
into substance dependence. Substances that are abused are, but not limited to, alcohol, tobacco, and
other drugs for varied reasons. Due to the substance abuse our society pays a significant cost. The
result from this abuse is seen in hospitals through direct damage to health and its link to physical
trauma. Jails also see the cost of substance abuse with a daily tally that has a strong connection
between crime and drug dependence and abuse. Substance abuse also can cause social consequences,

Changes During The Elizabethan Era
During The Elizabethan Age, things were a lot, and I mean a lot more different than the things
happening in the now. Things, such as political power, education, government and even literature have
changed drastically because of the constant change happening in our society. In terms of politics, we
differ in the kind of government we are implicating. Back then we used to follow the political
structure of Monarchy, wherein we had a simplified social order of the Monarch or the queen, the
nobility class, the merchants, the yeomans, and the laborers. This structure gave people with higher
ranks complete power over those people on lower ranks. In the Elizabethan Era, Queen Elizabeth I
(the monarch) made all the ultimate decisions for her state.

Distribution Of Minimum Spanning Trees
Distributed Verification of Minimum Spanning Trees
Authors: Amos Korman, Shay Kutten
Problem Statement: A graph and a tree is given as input in a distributed manner and the algorithm is
should be able to verifiy if the tree is a Minimum Spanning Tree (MST).
Detailed Explanation of the Problem Statement
Definitions
Spanning tree: A spanning tree of an undirected graph is a subgraph which is a tree and includes all the
vertices of G.
Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) : A spanning tree of a graph whose weight (sum of weight of its
edges) is less than or equal to the weight of all other spanning trees of the graph.
Verification of a Spanning Tree: A graph and a tree is given as input and the algorithm should check if
the tree is an MST for the graph.
In distributed verification of Minimum Spanning Trees, the input is provided in a distributed manner
which means that each node of the graph knows which of its edges belong to the tree. A node does not
have any knowledge of the edges which do not emanate from it. The verification algorithm should
label the vertices of the graph so that every node, given its own label and the labels of its neighbours
only is able to detect if these edges are MST edges or not and whether the input tree is an MST.
Motivation
The motivation for working on verification algorithms is that verification is easier than computation.
In a distributed setting verification is even more important because the tree is given in a distributed
manner and computing such a

Although our nation strives to be united, it is apparent that there are many situations where we are

What Is The Atomic Bomb Inhumane
One major argument for the use of the atomic bomb was that it would save thousands, if not, millions
of U.S. and Japanese lives. With a U.S. invasion set for November of 1945, it was predicted that
nearly a million U.S. soldiers would be lost, and the entire population of Japan s main inland would

these individuals was worth it all. Where does morality come into play? How does one decide what

long term environmental, social, and health effects which took place. The destructive effects of the
bomb had three phases: a fireball that hit temperatures

The Theories Of New Criticism
During the early part of the 20th century, the formalist theories of New Criticism arose as the
preeminent approach to teaching literature in college and high school curricula. Centered on the idea
that there is a single, fixed meaning inherent in a literary work, New Criticism is text centered with no
consideration given to the author or the reader. The text exists in and of itself, and New Critics
advocate methodical and systematic reading, focusing on the structure of the text to define its meaning
(Definition, n.d.). Louise Rosenblatt s groundbreaking work in Literature as Exploration (1938/1995)
and later refinement of her original thesis in The Reader, the Text, the Poem (1978), rejects the idea of
this single, fixed meaning inherent in the text. It is her theory that the individual creates meaning
through a transaction with the text based on personal associations, thus lifting the reader to a
prominent, essential position along with the author and the text (Mora Welch, 2014). Known as
transactional or reader response theory, Rosenblatt viewed the reader as transacting with a text to
create what she called the poem; the meaning that emerges from the transaction at a given time. In
Literature as Exploration (1938/1995), she argues that the same personal, social, and cultural factors
that affect how a person perceived the world will inevitably affect the equation represented by book
plus reader (p. 79). The text, however, is simply a: stimulus activating

Violet Batchelor I believe that one of the most interesting and widely used and seen human computer
interface devices is the desktop. Being only 20 years old, I have never personally owned a computer
that did not have some kind of desktop. I had never thought to delve into why it was called the desktop
until we discussed this in class. A computer s desktop is the place where the user can organize
shortcuts to their different activites. Some examples are a link to an internet page, a shortcut to
Microsoft Office, or a shortcut to My Computer in the file explorer. The desktop was invented along
with the GUI (graphical user interface) and so I personally put it under the category of the granddaddy
of computer interfaces. If you use a modern computer, you use a desktop. When you start up your

some cases, your computer will make one for you) and just click it. I can almost hear the AHA!

Amazon s Career Choice Program
Some corporations do not have a clear understanding on what the public really wants and what the
society expects from a company (Mohr, Webb, Harris, 2001). Microsoft knew exactly what the society
wants to see regarding its social behavior. The organization is acting in a socially responsible way, by
beginning a process in which the company goes completely carbon neutral across all of the company s
operations. Furthermore, each business unit will be responsible for its behavior. If the process fails
Microsoft will lose a lot of money because it is a huge corporation. The program Microsoft is trying to
achieve is good for the environment and makes the company looks good to the public (Grgurich,
2012).
Amazon Corporation is also a great example of a company that cares about its public image. Amazon
recently announced a new employee development program called The Amazon Career Choice
Program. Amazon will give all its full time workers the chance to undergo job training at the company
s expense. The most important accept of this program is that the job the employee is performing has
nothing to do with the field he wants to be working in. This program helped the corporation public
reputation because it is helping all Americans to work in a job they are actually interested in

Models amd Stages of Memory Essay
In order to understand what memory is one can start by understanding the opposite of it which is
known as the condition named amnesia. Amnesia is the incapability and failure to recollect
information which previously was stored in ones memory (Evans, 1979). If that is the case then
memory must be the capability to process information in order to recollect it as data remains
maintained (Maltin, 2005). Ideally psychologists have believes that memory consist of three aspects,
these basic stages collaborate when an event is recalled. These stages which are being outline are the
encoding, storage and retrieval stages of memory (Ghoneim, 2001). The three stages work in turns in
order to collect information and situate it together to create the ... Show more content on

One of their main arguments was that information is processed in three different ways including the
structural processing, phonemic processing and semantic processing. So, how do these processes
work? Structural processing and phonemic processing are both division found within the shallow

towards ones short term maintenance of information as repetition helps and individual hold data in the
STM, which is the only rehearsal that happens within the multi store model. The shallow form of
processing information can be seen as just physical where one looks at information, when one is
looking at how the information sounds like it is known as phonetics which is still part of shallow
processing (Li, 2010).
Now, deep processing on the other hand involves elaboration rehearsal. This is a more meaningful
analysis as it involve; images, thinking, associations of information and so on, which leads to better
recollection. And this is where semantic processing comes in, this is the happening of when one
encodes the meaning of a word and relate it back to similar words consisting similar meaning as a
word is giving a meaning or linking to previous knowledge (Surprenant and Neath, 2013).
Craik and Tulving (1975) conducted an experiment with participants who were made to believe that
the test which was taken was to aid the finding to test for ones reaction times. However

Case Study The New Orleans Pelican
Even though the New Orleans Pelicans signed Anthony Davis to 5 year / 145 million dollar extension
this past off season. The Pelicans should strongly consider trading Davis within the next 2 3 seasons
because Davis has missed at least 15 games in each of his first three seasons due to a number of
injuries, which include sprained right shoulder, sprained MCL and a fractured left hand. If Anthony
Davis continues to sustain injuries that force him to exit or miss games he will not be able to lead the
Pelicans to any real team success. Real team success for the Pelicans would be winning 50 55 regular
season games and making it pass the first round. For the Pelicans to achieve this goal they would need
Davis 75 to 80 games without missing big portions of games to attend to an injury. Since the Pelicans
do not have another impact player on their roster that can help them tread water until Davis. ... Show

In fact, under Alvin Gentry s offensive system, Anthony Davis is involved in a good amount of pick
and roll, pop or slide plays. For example the ball handing guard has the ball behind the three point line

basket he will attack the basket if not the big man will roll if there is an open lane to the basket if his
defender is defending the paint or trying to stop the ball handing guard from attacking the basket, he

The Success of the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 Essay
The Success of the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 Part 1 Karl Marks was not Russian and he died 34
years before the Russian revolution, he was a German who spent most his life in England. He worked
as a journalist but wrote books on history, religion, economics, society, and philosophy. Marx hated
the system of capitalism because he thought that it was capitalism that had produced the problems of
industry, poor living conditions and the social gap of the rich and poor. He thought that the system
destroyed people and made them greedy and that people only wanted something if it was worth
money. Karl Marx realised that there was not enough money to make everyone rich but he did thin k

His third and final solution was if people are working for the good of everyone else then there will be
no problems and everyone will trust each other. These are Karl Marx s views and how they could be
achieved. Vladimir Ilch Ulyanov, also known as Lenin which was a secret codename he had adapted
so he could not be caught by the government on plots to overthrow them, was brought up in a well
educated middle class home and he was the third out of six children. He left school first in his class
and looked to become a scholar. He looked set to become a well educated and mature young man at
the age of sixteen but things were soon to change. As a teenager he took two harsh blows which led
him on to become a revolutionist. The first was of his fathers death when he was threatened with early
retirement because of the government s fear of public school education and had soon died after. The
second was the death of his eldest brother; he had been hanged for conspiring with a revolutionary
terrorist group which had plotted the assassination of Emperor Alexander 3rd. this made Lenin feel
very bitter toward the government and he felt as if he could change the country for the better. Lenin
enrolled in Kazan University, but he was quickly expelled as a radical troublemaker and after being
accused of joining an illegal secret student meeting he was

Teaching Students With Science Teachers
When it comes to teaching students about science teachers need to make sure that they are teaching
students to understand the world. Science is a subject that can be taught in many ways. Science can
also help students that are hands on learners. It can help students that are hands on learners because
there are many experiments that students can perform. Also it can help students that are visual
learners. These are different ways that students can learn. One way that the teachers can assess to see
the learning outcomes of students is to do a structured performance task. According to the article:
Performance Based Assessment, it was mentioned that a structured performance task is when the
teacher gives students instructions, materials and assessment questions (Colley, 2008, P. 68). When
this is done, it allows teachers to see what students can perform on their own from the lesson. The
good thing about this is that students are experimenting different methods on their own. Teachers can
measure to see what students understand from the procedures. Teachers can also correct students
during the process of the procedure so that students can fix their mistakes during the actual process.
A way that teachers can assess to see higher learning outcomes in the scientific context is to check to
see if students can answer open ended questions. Open ended questions encourage teachers to see
what students can pursue on how the world works. With this being done teachers must make sure that

The Effects Of Muscle And On The Regeneration Of Muscle Essay
The extensive research provided determines whether simple tasks such as stretches, exercise, or
changes in diet or nutrition can be a factor on the regeneration of muscle. More so in athletes than non
athletes, muscle tears are extremely common. Yet, when viewing muscle regeneration, it doesn t only
occur during injuries. Individuals who lift weights constantly tear their muscle, but in a good way.
Lifting heavy weights cause microscopic tears in the muscle. By doing this, it allows the muscle to
regenerate and grow back stronger than it once was (Annigan). Injuries, and weight lifting both
involve the slightly similar processes of muscle generation, but include recovery at different rates, as
well as an even more complex process within full tears of the muscle fiber. When observing both
situations, it is troublesome to conclude whether care for the muscle improves muscle regeneration
rates. Multiple ways to aid a muscle tears exist, but the area with more focus is the R.I.C.E. method.
This will be explained even more as to how it could benefit those who are victims of this injury.
Introduction
Muscle tears are a common injury amongst athletes and normal people, yet tend to have a huge impact
depending on the severity. The primary functions of skeletal musculature are locomotor activity,
postural behavior, and breathing. However, skeletal muscle is susceptible to injury after direct trauma
(e.g., intensive physical activities, lacerations) or resulting from indirect

Moral Standars
The moral standards approach is the approach that focuses on three dimensions of the impact of the
proposed action: (1) whether it provides a net benefit to society; (2) whether it is fair to all
stakeholders; and (3) whether it is right. The moral standards approach was developed by Professor
Manuel Velasquez in 1992. Although some overlap some of the first approach, the focus is less
company centred, and is better suited for the evaluation of the decisions where stakeholders are the
ones who are impacted, outside the company is most likely to be severe. And the long term impact is
most likely incorporated. How might I conduct a stakeholder impact analysis be done using the moral
standards approach? I might conduct a stakeholder impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By checking if the fairness of the distributions of benefits and burdens are equal. And make sure that
the stakeholders and the decision maker s rights are not offended. The 5 question approach is an
analytical approach that involves challenging any of the proposed policies by asking these five
questions: is the decision fair? Is the decision right? Is the decision legal? Is the decision profitable?
And is the decision sustainable? It does not matter how they are asked, but the first four questions
must be asked to make sure that the person who is deciding does not miss an important impacted area.
How might I conduct a stakeholder impact analysis of this scenario using the 5 question approach? I
might start by asking if the decision is profitable to the shareholders. The decision fair to all involved?
Is the decision legal to the society at large? Is the decision right to other rights of all involved? And is
the decision sustainable to the environmental rights? And the last approach, the Pastin s approach
which is the ground rule ethics (organization individual rules and values). End point ethics (greatest
net good for all concerned).Rule ethics (determine ethical boundaries to take into account
impingement of rights). And social contract ethics (how to move boundaries). How might I conduct a
stakeholder impact analysis of this scenario using the Pastin s

Compare And Contrast The Traditional Management Style Of...
Traditional Management Styles of the United States versus China
Abstract
Chinese and Western management styles have varied greatly for many years, but are now beginning to
merge. With more and more Western companies opening offices in China, managers are using hybrid
styles of management. The combining of Chinese and Western styles of management have helped both
companies and managers to become successful. This is due to the positive manager employee
relationships that develop and lead to high job satisfaction. Chinese managers are creating strong
relationships and social networks not only within their company, but with other mangers working at
different companies throughout the world. Companies that open offices in China often use ... Show

American managers have been using several management styles that been effective in their
companies.
Autocratic Management Style The autocratic management style is also known as the authoritative
style where managers tend to be driven by the achievement of results and the desire to make things
happen. The managers who follow this kind of style have strong personalities, which allow them to
perform and demand the best performance from their workers (Bono Heller, 2006). This management
style involves the managers making decisions on their own and this allows the decision making
process to be very fast. The managers are also very tactful as they provide a firm but fair approach
providing direction in the company. The autocratic management style leads companies to achieve the
stated results at the expense of the relationship between the staff and the managers. This management
style usually leads to a high turnover rate among employees. Such managers portray particular
characteristics that enable them to become authoritative and to use this management style. They are
usually very competitive and focused on attaining specific goals and achievements within the market
(Bono Heller, 2006). These managers are known to be overbearing and assertive in everything they do
as they also like to put a lot of emphasis on their accomplishments. The business environment and the
cultures of most American companies are very competitive. For most companies to

Psychological study of music is based on this reason. Studies have found that music can reduce stress,
aid relaxation, alleviate depression, and help store and recall information among other functions.
William Congreve once stated that music has the charms to soothe the savage beast . Stress is reduced
through music by decreasing the amount of the hormone cortisone released in the body. This can be
applied to everyday life for stress relief (Music and Stress, 1998).
Music therapy is a new intervention that uses music and musical activities for the purposes of altering
behavior and enhancing the everyday existence of people with various types of emotional disturbance
. People have been using forms of music therapy since the earliest recorded history. Egyptian priests
spoke incantations that supposedly influenced women`s fertility. Hebrews and Greeks treated physical
and mental illness with the playing of music. Zenocrates, Sarpander, and Arien, all of whom were
Greeks, were the first to use music therapy as a regular practice. They employed harp music to ease
the outbursts of people with mental illnesses (Shapiro, 1969).
Nursing homes often hire music therapists. People are likely to feel depressed and grief stricken when
moved away from their homes and families into a facility for strangers to take care of them. Music
therapy helps to relieve grief and improve emotional tones and feelings (Shapiro, 1969). Therapists
can also help residents that suffer from

The Legacy Of Rape, By Nancy Toping Bazin s And Jane...
To explore the legacy of rape as a tool in war Nancy Toping Bazin s and Jane Harmovit Lauter s
philosophy of domination is important to know. The philosophy of domination is the underpinning of
all patriarchal institutions from domestic institutions, to government, and the military. Another
usefully theory is one succinctly described by Katrina Lee Koo in Confronting a Disciplinary
Blindness: Women, War and Rape in the International Politics of Security . Koo says, the nation, the
state, allies, and enemies intersect with gendered identities...sexual enslavement is politicized violence
against women s bodies that is both state sanctioned and premeditated in effect, during war time there
is an intersection of gender with religion, ethnicity, nationality and anything else that represents the
opposing side as an other . In this sense an assault on the women of a nation is a direct assault on their
state, their culture, their religion, their ethnic group as well as the men in it. In her essay Revisiting the
Issue of Korean Military Comfort Women : The Question of Truth and Positionality Hyunah Yang
says, by invading women s bodies, rape attempts to possess the enemy s property and leaves a rift in
the most fundamental ground of the symbolic system that sustains the enemies group identity...belief
that the woman s body is a field underpinning the family, ethnic group, and/or nation (61). During the
comfort system the Japanese army was not only in control of the Korean

  • 2. Descriptive Essay About My Mandala My Mandala A Mandala is a circular design that is seen throughout many cultures around the world. It is a symbolic piece of art used for enlightenment, protection, healing, or something else depending on the culture. They are often made for meditation as well, and even deconstructed at the end. The Mandala I created expresses who I am. It spans from my hobbies and favorite places to my ethnicity. This Mandala has helped me to understand who I am, and how I ve changed and grown throughout these 14 years. The middle of my Mandala represents the love I have for my family. The heart represents love, and the people circling it are my family, from both of my parents sides. I made it so that every family member was wearing a different colored shirt to represent diversity, and my grandfather and grandmother are wearing Disney merchandise because of their passion for Disney. My mom and her sister Zdanna are wearing matching necklaces, to represent their connection with each other, and they actually do have similar necklaces. The large portion on the left symbolizes how much I went to Disney World as a kid, and how I grew up watching Disney movies. I love watching the fireworks and Tinkerbell flying over the Magic Kingdom, so I drew those onto my mandala. The three people watching the fireworks are my mom, my dad, and me. I am on my dad s shoulders because that is how I was able to see the princesses and villains performing above everybody. Once when I was 3 years old, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Classroom Oral Interaction Classroom oral interaction plays an important role in language classroom. Besides, it gives more dynamics to the teaching learning process, especially when students actively participate. This verbal interaction is realized in oral activities, like conversations. It is one of the primary means by which learning is accomplished in classroom (Hall, 2003). It shows that the classroom oral interaction is a reflection of the learning process. Moreover, language classroom interaction provides the facility for the students to use the target language they possess in real life exchange (Rivers cited in Tuan and Nhu, 2010). Hence, through the oral interaction the teacher can provide opportunities to the students to use the target language orally in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study revealed that the classroom oral interaction lacked of students participation in giving initiation and follow up. It can be seen from the following chart. 3 Chart 1.1.IRF Pattern (Juniarti, 2010) To conclude, the previous study described above reveals that the participations of the students are dominated by their role as the responder. Meanwhile, they missed their chance to participate in giving initiation and followup. Also, the fact that teachers are still dominant in interactions indicates that learning process seems to be teacher centered. Likewise, during the PPL program (2011), the same situation was found in some English classes in SMP 47 where students participated only to respond to the teacher s initiations. The question is are the students interpersonal functions helpful as means to improve their language? If no, the oral interaction in the classroom will be useless since it doesn t support the participants, the teacher and students, to reach the goal of the learning process. This is another reason why the students participation in classroom oral interaction is important to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Bowen Family Systems Theory The couple I chose for this case study is the older, married couple, Albert and Marion Mazur. I chose this couple while watching the documentary, Love, Etc. In this documentary, five couples were followed and featured, among those, Albert and Marion were the couple that displayed complete unity. Married for over fifty years, these two individuals define Dr. Murray Bowen s family systems theory. Basically, the theory focuses on whatever occurs in an individual s life affects his or her family. In order to understand one person in a family, it is imperative to view each individual as a member of the family. Therefore, the couple s history and marriage will be explored using the Bowen Family Systems Theory. The concepts of the theory in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, there are, in fact, four parts of the theory connecting and interlocking in a hierarchy system. Background Albert and Marion Mazur began their relationship working together as songwriters. They both played the piano and wrote songs before they actually met. Living less than a mile from each other, their meeting was not love at first sight, but their mutual love for music. After working together for a few years, they married. They were happy and in love, yet still continued with their love of songwriting and making music. Little did they know what the future had in store for them as a couple. Marion s health began to decline with the early signs of dementia, whereas their roles as they once knew, soon would be reversed (Andresevic, 2013). Theoretical Foundation According to Bowen s family system theory, the Mazur s, demonstrated many of the facets related to the concepts within the hierarchy of the connected systems. First, the concept of wholeness was evident by their actions when they were together versus apart. Before they were a couple, they were living as single, independent persons and each would be viewed differently than when they became a couple. The two of them being together or whole was much greater than summing them up as parts. Next, their roles and interdependence essentially intertwine when they come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role of the Circus Folk in Hard Times by Charles Dickens The role of the circus is both complex and simple it is in itself a contradiction; it has been placed within the novel to add another dimension to the story of Coketown but also to show how fragile human nature can be. The circus folks role are complicated in their simplicity, they are of course there to carry out the role that they are paid to perform as actors or performers as well as being there for the second more complicated role of showing the notion of fancy within the novel. It is this second role which this essay will strive to discuss and discover. There are many sides to the circus it is a multi talented organisation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The modern reader may or may not have recognised from her description of her fathers job that she was a circus child. When Gradgrind hears her name he becomes annoyed and insists that she no longer allow her father to refer to her as Sissy but instead he must call her Cecilia call yourself Cecilia (Charles Dickens: page 4 Hard Times 1854). The fact That Sissy s father has a pet name for her is important because it shows emotion within her family, she has a bond with her father that we would refer to as affection or even love, Gradgrind and Coketown do not recognise these emotions but view them as fancy, nothing serious or factual about them. The purpose of the school is to produce future citizens of Coketown that are uniform and do not question what could have been, Sissy does not fit within this mould as she feels and by feeling she has fancies which is against the principal ideas of Coketown. The reader s introduction to the circus as an event within Coketown comes in what can be considered a surprising way. Whilst Gradgrind is walking home past the circus he notice his own children who have been raised on fact alone watching the circus Gradgrind s exclamation of In the name of wonder, Idleness and folly (Charles Dickens: page 15, Hard Times, 1854) is an unusual ... The start of the project seemed like all was going perfectly well until I had certain issues which I had always challenged myself with. My main aim was to create canvas images to represent and keep the history created around the 16th century by sculptors from the Yoruba and Benin cultures in Nigeria. The first question that created a major problem for me was picking the typeface for the project, I needed to pick a typeface that did not have that much representation with the western culture and also was legible and could flow well with the imagery and the designs ... I decided to represent the two strong culture by using shades of black and white and I used two major languages Yoruba and English which are the language spoken by both the Benin empire and the people from Ile Ife and also English is the official language spoken by the people from Nigeria, not forgetting the audience we are trying to reach the young generation of Nigeria who have forgotten or have no idea of their culture. This summer I attended two concerts, and just thinking about how those bands were in the same place as me is just something I will never forget. I ve been to concerts before, but I ve never seen notorious bands, it was always local bands. This summer I saw Nickelback and Green Day. I saw Nickelback and Green Day back to back, and they were both on school nights so I can assure you I was tired the next morning. Those concerts were the best concerts I have ever been to in my life. My mom and I have wanted to see Nickelback for a while so when my mom told me we were going to witness them in concert I went haywire. I ve wanted to go for such an enduring time. The concert was primarily scheduled for June 23 but was sadly cancelled due to flash flooding. I was pretty bummed out, but my mom was turbulent because she had been waiting for years to go see them in concert and was scared that the tickets she bought would go to waste. We later found out that we could still use the tickets, but unfortunately the concert was rescheduled on a school night, but my mom made it very clear that we were not missing this concert what so ever. So on August 15 my mom, my two uncles, my mom s friend, and I headed down to Noblesville. • 9. Ultra Running Essay Running is the purest form of exercise. Its simplicity requires minimal equipment or experience, as the running motion is an innate movement for the human body. More specifically ultra running is beyond the marathon distance of 26.2 miles and incorporates distances of 50, 100, and 200 mile races. While it takes any novice athlete to take part in the simple act of running a few advanced individuals turn running into an art form and expand their expertise to endurance running as seen in ultra marathon competitions. Running is currently applicable to society as the proportion of obese to healthy individuals continues to increase. As a result of the obesity epidemic health and wellness has hit major media headlines running in general has transformed into the most popular mode of exercise. The increasing popularity in running has brought more attention to the specific world of ultra running and researchers, health practitioners, and the media have become critics of the how running extreme distances can be detrimental to health. While many argue that ultra running will pose greater health risks for the competing individuals, historically distance running has been a crucial component of human survival and evolution further supporting the development of biomechanical and physiological health benefits. Despite the skepticism, ultra running provides holistic health benefits and does not subject the competing individual to increased health complications or risk of injury. ... He tugged on the knight s white cloak, which pulled him up and the knight backward. As the knight fell he got in the way of the other knights. By the time they had realized what had happened, Ralan was in the the grass field beyond the Tower s large iron doors. He had escaped so quickly that there was confusion as shouts and alarm klaxons rang. Shouts of Stop him! were followed by knights looking around for who they were supposed to stop. This is almost too easy, Ralan thought, as a cry of Stop the Craftsman came from the Tower. Moments later an arrow hit the ground at Ralan s feet. Yellow tunic. Surrounded by white. Archers on the Wall. Not good, Ralan thought. And then he saw it. A large wagon with four horses pulling it. It was on the side of the road with a broken wheel. Thank you, Maela, Ralan thought. • 12. The Negative Impacts Of Integrity In Society Brené Brown once said, Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them. Integrity is threatened everyday by three major combatants: cheating, lying, and plagiarizing. Many do not realize the extent of their actions. Life is like the domino effect: an action always affects someone else. When a person lacking integrity makes a decision, the people affected are often wounded in the process. A lack of integrity leads to a life of negative impacts with the three main threats to integrity being cheating, lying, and plagiarizing. Cheating is universal, and it is very similar worldwide. According to the LA Times, Teachers say that hiding cheat sheets in socks, copying neighbors answers and scribbling notes on walls are the most common tactics. Test papers routinely are leaked as well, often by low level school employees who sell them for the equivalent of a few dollars, and sometimes by teachers or administrators whose professional standing rises if students perform well (Shashank Bengali 3). This shows that children were not only ones benefitting from cheating. The children themselves benefitted by passing the tests, but the others benefitted in monetary and social standings. Although children benefit immediately from cheating, there are negative impacts in the long run. In an article by Bengali, Madhukar Yadhav says, ...they are used to ... • 20. Shakespeare s Use Of Metatheatre In Hamlet Metatheatricality in William Shakespeare s Hamlet There play within a play is a dramatic device used by Shakespeare to explore the human psyche s ability to manoeuvre and manipulate by staging performances . Shakespeare premises the entire drama upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade in order to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting of The Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and validate Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. Shakespeare, in my opinion, hints at the futility of such drastic pretence and enactment with the use tragic irony that concludes the play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From a psychological point of view, feigned madness can be grounds on which Hamlet s future actions can be legitimised, if not at least be accounted for. To commit a murder for the purpose of revenge, on the basis of a spirit s account would seem rather absurd but by proclaiming madness, the entire prospect is more believable and by that extension, validates the possibility of such an account. More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies (transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching ( Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the King s murder. Although Polonius incorrectly attributes Hamlet s madness to Ophelia s love, his detection that Though this be madness, yet there is method in t (II.ii.223 224) reaffirms his lunacy as not actual craziness but a form of ... • 25. Why Is Characterization Important In The Veldt Why is characterization important? Having realistic characters contribute in connecting the readers to the story. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s The Veldt, realistic characters are a product of the environment through the author s use of descriptive writing with a forbidding or positive tone, use of literary devices and strong character development. This indicates that characters are realistic regardless if the setting is familiar or unfamiliar to the reader. Author uses descriptive writing to characterize a person, thing or place in a way that an image is created in the reader s mind. Tone plays an significant role in descriptive writing as it can either be forbidding or favorable. In The Veldt, authors use descriptive writing to help readers understand the unfamiliar setting. The narrator creates an image of the nursery in a favorable tone by saying The hot straw smell of lion grass, the cool green smell of the hidden water hole, the great rusty smell of animals, the smell of dust like a red paprika in the hot air. (Bradbury 1) The use of descriptive writing in The Veldt helps the reader understand and familiarize themselves with the unusual setting which contributes in making the character seem realistic. In this specific example, tone also contributes in helping readers understand the narrators state of mind while describing the nursery. Distribution Of Minimum Spanning Trees Distributed Verification of Minimum Spanning Trees Authors: Amos Korman, Shay Kutten Problem Statement: A graph and a tree is given as input in a distributed manner and the algorithm is should be able to verifiy if the tree is a Minimum Spanning Tree (MST). Detailed Explanation of the Problem Statement Definitions Spanning tree: A spanning tree of an undirected graph is a subgraph which is a tree and includes all the vertices of G. Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) : A spanning tree of a graph whose weight (sum of weight of its edges) is less than or equal to the weight of all other spanning trees of the graph. Verification of a Spanning Tree: A graph and a tree is given as input and the algorithm should check if the tree is an MST for the graph. In distributed verification of Minimum Spanning Trees, the input is provided in a distributed manner which means that each node of the graph knows which of its edges belong to the tree. A node does not have any knowledge of the edges which do not emanate from it. The verification algorithm should label the vertices of the graph so that every node, given its own label and the labels of its neighbours only is able to detect if these edges are MST edges or not and whether the input tree is an MST. Motivation The motivation for working on verification algorithms is that verification is easier than computation. In a distributed setting verification is even more important because the tree is given in a distributed manner and computing such a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Theories Of New Criticism During the early part of the 20th century, the formalist theories of New Criticism arose as the preeminent approach to teaching literature in college and high school curricula. Centered on the idea that there is a single, fixed meaning inherent in a literary work, New Criticism is text centered with no consideration given to the author or the reader. The text exists in and of itself, and New Critics advocate methodical and systematic reading, focusing on the structure of the text to define its meaning (Definition, n.d.). Louise Rosenblatt s groundbreaking work in Literature as Exploration (1938/1995) and later refinement of her original thesis in The Reader, the Text, the Poem (1978), rejects the idea of this single, fixed meaning inherent in the text. It is her theory that the individual creates meaning through a transaction with the text based on personal associations, thus lifting the reader to a prominent, essential position along with the author and the text (Mora Welch, 2014). Known as transactional or reader response theory, Rosenblatt viewed the reader as transacting with a text to create what she called the poem; the meaning that emerges from the transaction at a given time. In Literature as Exploration (1938/1995), she argues that the same personal, social, and cultural factors that affect how a person perceived the world will inevitably affect the equation represented by book plus reader (p. 79). Amazon Corporation is also a great example of a company that cares about its public image. Amazon recently announced a new employee development program called The Amazon Career Choice Program. Amazon will give all its full time workers the chance to undergo job training at the company s expense. The most important accept of this program is that the job the employee is performing has nothing to do with the field he wants to be working in. This program helped the corporation public reputation because it is helping all Americans to work in a job they are actually interested in (Grgurich, 2012). This light reading is, in my opinion, a male version of Bridget Jones. Randy Love, the main character of this book, in his early twenties, began the process of independence. Moving from his parents house and searching for a job are required to accomplish that goal. His egocentricity and ignorance make that process a bit difficult, but also make the story interesting. On the other hand, with the help of his charm, he succeeds in taking advantage of many situations. Changing to different jobs and accommodations, he manages to find the right path for him to fulfill his desires. His friends and family help him to overcome ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Models amd Stages of Memory Essay In order to understand what memory is one can start by understanding the opposite of it which is known as the condition named amnesia. Amnesia is the incapability and failure to recollect information which previously was stored in ones memory (Evans, 1979). If that is the case then memory must be the capability to process information in order to recollect it as data remains maintained (Maltin, 2005). Ideally psychologists have believes that memory consist of three aspects, these basic stages collaborate when an event is recalled. These stages which are being outline are the encoding, storage and retrieval stages of memory (Ghoneim, 2001). The three stages work in turns in order to collect information and situate it together to create the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of their main arguments was that information is processed in three different ways including the structural processing, phonemic processing and semantic processing. So, how do these processes work? Structural processing and phonemic processing are both division found within the shallow process. Shallow processing simply implicates the maintenance through rehearsal which heads towards ones short term maintenance of information as repetition helps and individual hold data in the STM, which is the only rehearsal that happens within the multi store model. The shallow form of processing information can be seen as just physical where one looks at information, when one is looking at how the information sounds like it is known as phonetics which is still part of shallow processing (Li, 2010). Now, deep processing on the other hand involves elaboration rehearsal. This is a more meaningful analysis as it involve; images, thinking, associations of information and so on, which leads to better recollection. And this is where semantic processing comes in, this is the happening of when one encodes the meaning of a word and relate it back to similar words consisting similar meaning as a word is giving a meaning or linking to previous knowledge (Surprenant and Neath, 2013). Craik and Tulving (1975) conducted an experiment with participants who were made to believe that the test which was taken was to aid the finding to test for ones reaction times. However ... • 42. Case Study The New Orleans Pelican Even though the New Orleans Pelicans signed Anthony Davis to 5 year / 145 million dollar extension this past off season. The Pelicans should strongly consider trading Davis within the next 2 3 seasons because Davis has missed at least 15 games in each of his first three seasons due to a number of injuries, which include sprained right shoulder, sprained MCL and a fractured left hand. If Anthony Davis continues to sustain injuries that force him to exit or miss games he will not be able to lead the Pelicans to any real team success. Real team success for the Pelicans would be winning 50 55 regular season games and making it pass the first round. For the Pelicans to achieve this goal they would need Davis 75 to 80 games without missing big portions of games to attend to an injury. He worked as a journalist but wrote books on history, religion, economics, society, and philosophy. Marx hated the system of capitalism because he thought that it was capitalism that had produced the problems of industry, poor living conditions and the social gap of the rich and poor. He left school first in his class and looked to become a scholar. He looked set to become a well educated and mature young man at the age of sixteen but things were soon to change. As a teenager he took two harsh blows which led him on to become a revolutionist. The first was of his fathers death when he was threatened with early retirement because of the government s fear of public school education and had soon died after. The second was the death of his eldest brother; he had been hanged for conspiring with a revolutionary terrorist group which had plotted the assassination of Emperor Alexander 3rd. this made Lenin feel very bitter toward the government and he felt as if he could change the country for the better. • 46. Teaching Students With Science Teachers When it comes to teaching students about science teachers need to make sure that they are teaching students to understand the world. Science is a subject that can be taught in many ways. Science can also help students that are hands on learners. It can help students that are hands on learners because there are many experiments that students can perform. Also it can help students that are visual learners. These are different ways that students can learn. One way that the teachers can assess to see the learning outcomes of students is to do a structured performance task. According to the article: Performance Based Assessment, it was mentioned that a structured performance task is when the teacher gives students instructions, materials and assessment questions (Colley, 2008, P. 68). When this is done, it allows teachers to see what students can perform on their own from the lesson. The good thing about this is that students are experimenting different methods on their own. Teachers can measure to see what students understand from the procedures. Teachers can also correct students during the process of the procedure so that students can fix their mistakes during the actual process. A way that teachers can assess to see higher learning outcomes in the scientific context is to check to see if students can answer open ended questions. Open ended questions encourage teachers to see what students can pursue on how the world works. With this being done teachers must make sure that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Effects Of Muscle And On The Regeneration Of Muscle Essay The extensive research provided determines whether simple tasks such as stretches, exercise, or changes in diet or nutrition can be a factor on the regeneration of muscle. More so in athletes than non athletes, muscle tears are extremely common. Yet, when viewing muscle regeneration, it doesn t only occur during injuries. Individuals who lift weights constantly tear their muscle, but in a good way. Lifting heavy weights cause microscopic tears in the muscle. By doing this, it allows the muscle to regenerate and grow back stronger than it once was (Annigan). Injuries, and weight lifting both involve the slightly similar processes of muscle generation, but include recovery at different rates, as well as an even more complex process within full tears of the muscle fiber. When observing both situations, it is troublesome to conclude whether care for the muscle improves muscle regeneration rates. Multiple ways to aid a muscle tears exist, but the area with more focus is the R.I.C.E. method. This will be explained even more as to how it could benefit those who are victims of this injury. Introduction Muscle tears are a common injury amongst athletes and normal people, yet tend to have a huge impact depending on the severity. The primary functions of skeletal musculature are locomotor activity, postural behavior, and breathing. However, skeletal muscle is susceptible to injury after direct trauma (e.g., intensive physical activities, lacerations) or resulting from indirect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moral Standars The moral standards approach is the approach that focuses on three dimensions of the impact of the proposed action: (1) whether it provides a net benefit to society; (2) whether it is fair to all stakeholders; and (3) whether it is right. The moral standards approach was developed by Professor Manuel Velasquez in 1992. Although some overlap some of the first approach, the focus is less company centred, and is better suited for the evaluation of the decisions where stakeholders are the ones who are impacted, outside the company is most likely to be severe. Is the decision legal? Is the decision profitable? And is the decision sustainable? It does not matter how they are asked, but the first four questions must be asked to make sure that the person who is deciding does not miss an important impacted area. To explore the legacy of rape as a tool in war Nancy Toping Bazin s and Jane Harmovit Lauter s philosophy of domination is important to know. The philosophy of domination is the underpinning of all patriarchal institutions from domestic institutions, to government, and the military.
