Reflection: The Comparison of Solution Focus Family Therapy and Narrative Family Therapy
Solution Focused Family Therapy is a group treatment based on over twenty years of theoretical
development, clinical practice, and empirical research. Solution Focused Family Therapy is different
in many ways from traditional approaches to treatment. It is a competency based model, which
minimizes importance of past problems, and instead focuses on clients strengths and what has worked
for the clients. There is a focus on working from the client s understandings of her or his concerns and
situations and determine what they might want to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therapists help clients find alternatives to current undesired patterns of behavior, cognition, and
interaction that are within the clients repertory that can be co constructed by therapists and clients. The
role of the therapist in Solution Focused is usually a cheerleader or coach. They offer hope to client
who feel like the problems is becoming a part of everyday life. The Therapist is mostly nondirective;
this is when the client is encouraged to speak freely with minimal input from the therapist. This
approach will help the clients discover their own solutions (Gehart

Social Classes In The 19th Century
If the lower classes are not controlled it will be hard to maintain the social structure and prevent
internal conflict. In most societies throughout World History, a small, rich ruling class has dominated
the social and political aspects of society. The large majority of the population has always been in the
lower classes of society, and controlling these classes through fear, brute force, economic oppression
or appeasement is instrumental to maintain order. Failing to maintain control often leads revolts, social
upheavals or violent class struggles. While in most societies the upper classes attempted to control
lower classes, some were not successful. In the Roman Empire slaves were subjected to difficult work
and conditions. This led to many slave revolts during the second and ... Show more content on

In the 10th century, Zanj slaves in Mesopotamia, after being forced to work in terrible conditions,

18th century slaves in Saint Domingue revolted against the white planters and France, and fought until
they gained independence. In 1810, Miguel Hidalgo led a group of peasants against the Imperial
Spanish rule in Mexico and the rigid social structure in place. In the 20th century in Russia, peasants
and workers tired of unfair land distribution, serfdom, poor living standards and other inequalities,
started the Russian Revolution. In these cases, those with power and wealth, failed to satisfy or control
the masses of lower class people which led to revolts and unrest. In other instances, civil order was
maintained, due to those with power controlling the lower classes. An example of this occurs in India,
starting around 1000 B.C.E. The caste system helped to

Teenagers Have Respect
A lot of teenagers these days don t respect each other because they are jealous of each other. I think
that I am lucky and have no reason to be jealous so I try to respect everyone the way they are.
Although the people I would like to talk about is how much respect I have for my mom and dad. I
think that having respect for your parents is one of the most important things especially as a teenager.
If you don t have respect for your parents then why should they have respect for you when you grow
up. My mom owns ten hair salons and deals with many different problems every day and I don t really
know how she does it. So I have uttermost respect for her everyday. Sometimes my mom talks to me
about stuff I don t exactly agree with her, but I still want to show respect while making my argument. I
do that by kindly telling her my opinion without getting mad. Then I wait to see what she says, back
and normally her opinion makes more sense, so I just listen to what she has to say. I never get mad or
yell at her, but I repeat her opinion just as much as I respect mine. Not only do I show respect to my
mom but she shows respect to me and to the things that I love to do. A lot of people don t ... Show

The Negro Speaks Of Rivers Essay
Slavery has influenced how people of African descent went forth and lived life. In the poem The
Negro Speaks of Rivers , Langston Hughes tells a story of the black man s journey to America while
trying to hold on to his past. Hughes uses imagery and tone to create a picture that illustrated racial
pride and dignity. Phillis Wheatley, On Being Brought from Africa to America describes the positivity
of being an American slave and the perks of Christianity. The major theme that runs throughout these
two poems are how someone views their own race. Though each poem is set around the same time
period, we can see two different effects of slavery and it could change in an person. Wheatley s On
Being Brought from Africa to America has a lot of literary devices within it and reading it out loud
really helps you find them. There is some end rhyme like eye die ; land understand ; and cain train .
Lines 7 and 8 shows a heroic couplet; Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain,/ May be refin d,
and join th angelic train. Another big literary device that could not be overlooked is personification. In
the first line of the poem, the speaker personifies mercy . The speaker is using the term mercy in a
biblical notion and in that sense mercy could not have physically picked the speaker up and carry him
or her over to America. In Langston Hughes The Negro speaks of Rivers , the speaker sets a tone
while makes a connect between him and the earth he lived on.

Endgame Research Paper
Samuel Beckett s Endgame at first glance appears to be a peculiar play about four characters in an
unusual and seemingly post apocalyptic setting. Yet, upon further investigation, it is apparent that
Beckett uses the play s strange and isolated environment to expound upon and investigate humans will
to live. Though the play is marked by a lack of significant plot development, Beckett employs the
relationships between characters and certain reoccurring ideas to establish a seemingly bleak and
depressing environment in which the characters fight for their existence. In particular, each character
is stuck in a daily unchanging routine, which confirms their existence and gives their lives meaning.
There is also a preoccupation with death by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Similarly, Nagg uses the story of his past to alleviate the immense emotional burden of living in a
depressing world, which allows him to more effectively cope with his miserable life and resist being
consumed by the darkness that surrounds him. This in turn allows him to oppose death. It is interesting
to note that both routines imply that the characters actively resist death and in doing so choose to
continue living in a world where they are encircled by sadness. This is a surprisingly positive message
of humans intense desire to live in a play that is predominately focused on death and the wickedness

Robin Hood Research Paper
Who was Robin Hood? Legend has it that Robin Hood was an outlaw living in Sherwood Forest with
his Merry Men but did the outlaw of Nottingham really exist?
Robin Hood, the subject of many ballads, books and films, has proven to be one of popular culture s
most enduring folk heroes. Over the course of 700 years, the outlaw from Nottingham who robs from
the rich to give to the poor has emerged as one of the most versatile folk heroes but how has the
legend of Sherwood Forest s merry outlaws evolved over time and did a real Robin Hood inspire these
classic stories?
Robin Hood was famous for being an outlaw from Nottingham who robs from the rich and gives away
the stolen goods to the poor. Robin became a popular folk hero because of his generosity to the poor
and down trodden peasants and his hatred of the Sheriff and his verderers who enforced the oppressive

Islamic Possession Of Firearms And Explosives
On Feburary 28, 1993, at Mount Carmel in Waco, Texas, agents from the ATF launched a morning

Polar Bear Persuasive Speech
Hello, I am Penelope! I am a polar bear. I live in the Arctic Region of Northern Canada. I know what
your thinking, Aren t you freezing in the snow? No. Actually I am not. I enjoy the snow and freezing

Another common misconception people make when looking at me is my fur. Although I look white,
my fur is made of clear, hollow tubes filled with air. I have a thick layer of blubber under my skin to
keep me warm. Just in case if you were wondering, I am a warm blooded mammal.

Because we are such large animals, we don t have any predators. Well, actually we have one predator,
humans. For some unknown reason, they hunt us for our soft fur. Because of humans, we are
endangered. Also, another danger is global warming and habitat loss. As the world gets warmer,
glaciers and snow melt. We live on snow and ice. We always have to move our home from place to
place because of the climate. Although it seems as if the world is only getting hotter a small amount at

Effects Of Removing Extrinsic Branding Cues On Taste...
The Effect of Removing Extrinsic Branding Cues on Taste Perception
Abstract
Consumer taste preferences have been found to be highly influenced by extrinsic cues such as the
branding of a product. This study aims to examine the effect of removing extrinsic branding cues on
taste perception. Using a between subject design, participants (n=20) participated in a blind
experiment, they either tasted Walkers crisp or Tesco value crisps, Coca Cola, or Sainsbury value cola.
Participants evaluated the taste on a rating scale, where 1 indicated least satisfying and 10 most
satisfying. There were no significant difference between the Walkers crisps and Tesco value crisps, t
(18) = 616, p=0.546). Also no difference was found between the two bands of cola, Mann Whitney U
= 37.5, p=0.353. These findings suggest extrinsic branding cues may have a relatively strong influence
over our taste.
Introduction
Over the years, researchers have taken an interest into consumer behaviour and their preference to
purchase manufacture branded products rather than store brand, although the products contain the
same content. A brand is defined as a name, sign, symbol or a design used to identify the goods or
services of a vendor (Kotler Keller, 2006). Branding has been identified to be a very important non
sensory factor in the decision of purchasing products (Varela et al, 2010). One of the most studied

The Issue Of Juvenile Delinquency
The issue of Juvenile Delinquency has always been of great concern to society and due to the
perceived notion that the nation s future depends on the development of its youth, understanding the
factors that cause them to commit criminal activities will help identify what leads youth to turn
towards crime and the circumstances that influence them commit criminal behaviour (Shoemaker,
2010). Modern culture is constantly bombarded with the belief system of economic wealth and
success, of achieving cultured goals and success in order to attain materialistic wealth, status and the
accumulation of money to live that lifestyle. However not everyone have equal opportunities to obtain
these goals through legitimate means and are either hindered or blocked due to various circumstances
that do not serve them well (Hoffmann, 2011). There are several factors that help understand and link

consolidate the efforts of helping the investigators in apprehending criminals as well as helping the

In this case, the employees compared themselves with a self inside situation, which is comparing their
current situation with it was before. They found their ration decreased because of income (effort paid)

they took actions to reduce tension and want to bring the situation back to normal. For example,
symbolic protest was emerged. They started to work according to the rules and refused an overtime

Another problem faced by Cathay is the conflict between its management and employees. As
mentioned above, the ground crews perceived that the company has negatively affected their

parties, lack of openness of the company, and failure to respond to employees needs. It is obvious that

PEST framework will be used to analyze the macro environment which is divided into four parts
political, economic, social and technological factors.
2.1 Political As for the political environment, there are two aspects to be mentioned here.
2.1.1 Country s situation Country s situation includes three points. One of these three points is that at
the beginning of 1990s, China enforced a practical policy which is called change market for

Bell Jar Sylvia Plath Essay
Sylvia Plath was an English poet and short story writer born in 1900s. She was best known for her
novel, The Bell Jar, and poems such as Daddy. Plath s life, including her poetry, her sanity and her
marriage was a cycle of ups and downs. After her death in 1963, Plath s life was depicted in the 2003
film Sylvia, starring Gwyneth Paltrow. By just reading Sylvia Plath s works of writing, it is apparent
that she had an infatuation with portraying negative and brutal thoughts. For example, her poem
Daddy, she clearly expresses her rage towards her deceased father. The poem is full of contradiction

Plath met her lover, fellow poet, Ted Hughes, in 1965 in Cambridge while she was attending the
university. As shown in the film adaptation of her life, their relationship can be described as love at

connection. Only moments later in the night, while Plath and Hughes were dancing together, Sylvia
had already declared her love for Ted. The couple married in 1956 but their love wasn t always in the
highest place as it was the night they met; their relationship with a turbulent one. Two children later,
the couple still hadn t met a common ground and their relationship was falling apart. After the birth of
their second child in 1962, Hughes left Plath for another woman, which led her to fall deeper into
depression. Soon after, she committed suicide by inhaling gas from a kitchen oven. Plath s tragic death
at just 30 years old, led to Hughes releasing her collection of poems, Ariel, which is one of her
greatest works to this day.
Sylvia Plath s life was one of a troubled woman. Her lack of sanity was deeply reflected in her works
of writing. Her mental state was very much affected by her life experiences such as her feelings of
betrayal towards her father and her instable marriage to Ted Hughes. Plath s poetry, was a way to
explore her mental anguish and share her fixation with death, due to her deathly depression. Despite

the people who spent years perfecting those art forms for other s entertainment and enjoyment. The
truth is, the arts have been embedded in human nature just like carvings on wood, and is a surviving
and persisting tradition that can be traced to even the earliest culture and history that has proved itself
to be a key factor for bringing the world together under common interests and art forms. One would
think that the arts should be required in all education systems with their strong roots in the past and
modern times, but the arts are still the first programs to be cut from schools on tight budgets, and are
nonexistent in low income schools due to being dismissed as inferior to the more academic subjects.
Even though the arts are more abstract, subjective, and lenient in subject areas, they are still the
crucial link and passage to the world of creativity, imagination, and passion. The arts are irreplaceable
subjects that should be maintained in schools because only they can provide a truly well rounded
education to students, harnessing them with priceless skills that simply cannot be found in purely
academic classes, while providing numerous benefits that no other programs can replace. Unlike
regular academic subjects, the arts have their basis on creative

A World Order By Jhumpa Lahiri
Nair attempts to interpret and relocate the characters from their succinct semantic images on paper and
re cast them as believable entities embodying social, economic and psychological baggage in an
essentially postmodern world order. In Lahiri s novel, a world order presents itself where people like
Ashoke and Ashima are subconsciously put on the fringes of the mainstream American society, in part
by their attitude and approach to the new, almost alien societal and cultural experiences and
circumstances and in part by the reaction to their reaction by the world around them. And this is
essentially a conflicting world order where there is an intent to adapt to this bewildering newness
around while there is equally strong a yearning for the familiar and much cherished roots. The two
characters (Ashima more visibly so) are torn, as it were, between the two worlds, and struggling to
conform to either! Into this palpable melee comes the son. The second generation of Indian
immigrants and a first born American citizen of Bengali origin who is bestowed with a name
borrowed from a Russian writer of repute, Gogol Ganguly endeavours to be efficaciously functional in
a space that might be essentially regarded as an interstice or gap between the American public sphere

Criminal Justice Court Observation
I observed court operations at the Plantation Key Government Center in Tavernier, Florida twice: on
October 7th and November 4th. I observed Chief Circuit Judge Carlos Garcia in courtroom A. The
courthouse is located in the 16th Judicial Circuit of Florida and it s a state trial court with general
jurisdiction. The first visit was cut short, in part because it was a lighter criminal day than planned, but
also I was flabbergasted by the lack of professionalism that was present in the Florida Keys

amazing array of progressive music over the past years.
The two brothers were previously in a band called Corner Street Light before Arswain that was a pure

a hybrid rock band and DJ set show. They were incorporating live instrumentals while adding pre

stands out from Arswain is Lois Lane from their second album Fortress. The song has much deeper
roots and lyrical meanings than most of their other tracks. The track is a metaphor for how technology

Why Can Hipsters Be Considered A Counterculture
Hipsterism has become an extremely popular counterculture in society. According to Zev Borow, the
hipster culture primarily focuses on individuality , uniqueness , and free thinking (Borow). Hipsters
have also been known to have a passion for music, food, social life, and style. Although hipsters are
often misunderstood to some people in society, they love what they do and have fun while doing it
which is what matters the most. The hipster counterculture has had a huge impact on society by
providing a platform for people to express themselves.

The fact that the hipster counterculture was created for those who don t fit in or feel they don t acquire
a sense of belonging in a typical mainstream culture says something in itself (Mckenzie). One big
reason as to why hipsters has since become popular is because they provide a safe haven for those
who are fond of individuality and for those who don t affiliate with the mainstream crowd. Giving
them freedom to freely express themselves without societal pressures on them. Due to the hipsters
reject to traditional society, many critics have now attached negative connotations to the word.
Making anybody who claims to be a hipster looked down upon. Since then society has viewed hipsters
as arrogant, [demanding] and direct people that nobody like to associate with (Mckenzie). Along with
that hipsters are also viewed as people who give off the vibe that they just don t care (Fletcher).
Although, critics give hipsters many negative feedback, when you get to know a real hipster and not

3rd Writing Assignment
At the end of the 19th century, fin de siècle did not just indicate the end of one century: it indicated the
collapse of language and a way of thinking. This idea was illustrated by works such as von
Hofmannstahl s Lord Chandos Letter and Schnitzler s Dream Story, which seem to argue that a new
mode of thinking was necessary for a new age. Indeed, Freud s writings and Trakl s poems offered this
new mode of thinking by challenging the border between what is real and what is imaginary through
their works. In music and art, a similar trend was taking place: late 19th century works offered the
audience a window into the artist s emotions, experiences, and desires. This idea is seen in Gustav
Mahler s 1st Symphony and Egon Schiele s Seated Male Nude, in which both artists channel their
experiences and emotions to release suppressed elements of their psyches. However, the purpose for
their expressivity is different: Mahler s expressivity stems from a desire to find relief from mental
stress stemming from his turbulent life, Schiele s from a desire to explore new ways of conveying the
self.
Mahler s 1st Symphony holds an intimate relationship with his childhood and upbringing; the music
reflects and reveals Mahler s experiences and desires for what his future will look like. From the
beginning of his 1st Symphony, Mahler paints a vast, open space with the string s sustained, unison A.

B s competency can be made through her recognizable reasons. Freedman, as a strong proponent of
the view that such reasons fall under both necessary and sufficient conditions to demonstrate some
competence, would argue autonomous decisions demonstrate the competence to recognize and uphold
one s best interests. Ms. B s last assertion is her strongest and most empathetic defense for
competency because the thought that they might take her feet without letting her make the decision
was terrible; it was an outcome she understood the significance of because her autonomy and consent
would be overridden by what was deemed ordinary treatment. Freedman stresses that physician
judgement on what is rational and what rationality involves imposes a paternalistic stance by placing
greater value on physician decision making. Though the premises that all lives are equal and the
autonomy to govern one s medical decisions based on their best interests are not explicitly stated, they
are implied in recognizing that she has the right to refuse the amputation even when the outcome of
said decision is no more desirable. As this would be an acceptable reason, Freedman would argue Ms.

Consequences Of Gun Control
Can Gun Control Solve Death? According to the second amendment of the United States Constitution,

Philosophy and Democracy
1. RONALD DWORKIN: According to Dworkin, democracy is an egalitarian perception to political
equality (). Dworkin argues for a substantive approach to democratic procedure; in effort to secure an
equal distribution of political power to citizens as a whole (9; 117). Dworkin s consequential approach
classifies two types of political decisions: choice sensitive and choice insensitive issues (132).
Dworkin defines choice sensitive issues in terms of justice that: depends essentially on character and
distribution of preferences within the political community (132). For example, Dworkin asserts: The
decision whether to use available public funds to build a new sports center or a new road system is
typically choice sensitive (132). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Estlund, epistemic proceduralism embodies a just right conception of democracy; one
that avoids epistemic polarization of democratic procedure, either too strong or non existent (74; 75).
Estlund s defense of his democratic normative framework highlights the flawed, undemocratic nature
structuring fairness and deliberation (70). Estlund s account for democratic legitimacy avoids fairness
based approaches that disregard the epistemic value of democratic deliberation; as well as the
democratic ideal that legitimate decisions are only those that are correct under the highly restrictive
correctness theory (75). Estlund excludes non epistemic values in his justification of democracy; in
addition, Estlund also avoids the ideals of epistocracy (71). Estlund s epistemic proceduralism holds
that a law s legitimacy is derived partly from the epistemic value of the procedure that produced said
laws (70 71). Thus laws can be legitimate independent of correctness, while still conforming to an
epistemic value of democratic deliberation (70 71). Why obey bad laws? According to Estlund,
democracy is dependent on citizen obedience to legitimate procedural outcomes independent of
correctness (70:75). Citizens are to obey legitimate democratic decisions, even when these outcomes
are believed to be mistaken (77). Estlund argues that the correctness of democratic decisions lies
within his theory of epistemic

Millennials and their Impact in Today s Workforce

Generational Issues in the U.S. Workforce According to the Fort Wayne News Sentinel, the American
workforce is now made up of four entirely different generations. The four major groups, as defined in
the For the First Time, Four Very Different Generations Make Up the U.S. Workforce article by the
Fort Wayne News Sentinel, citing Ginny Carroll, chief executive officer of inGINuity, are Veteran
(born 1900 1942), Baby Boomer (1943 1960), Generation X (1961 1981), and Millennial (1982 2000)
(Quilligan 1). Throughout this paper, I will use the above names to describe the various generations,
though let it be known that some sources state different names for each generation. In an article titled
Employers Need to Bridge Generational Gaps in Work Force, Labor Report Says, Michael Silence of
the Knoxville News Sentinel uses the name Traditionalist for what Kathleen Quilligan of the Fort
Wayne News Sentinel calls the Veteran generation, and calls Millennials Generation Y (Silence 1). It
is also relevant to note that different sources state different age ranges for each generation. For
instance, an article in the American Medical Writers Association Journal (AMWA) states the following
dates for each generation: Veteran (1937 1945), Baby Boomer (1946 1964), Generation X (1965
1984), and Millennial (1985 2005) ( Top 10 Characteristics Of The Four

Lyndon B. Johnson s Presidency
Every president has had to start somewhere in politics. Every single one of them has had some sort of
political experience before they ran for president except the exceptional rule breaker, Donald Trump.
Lyndon B. Johnson was no different. As a fourteen year old boy, he made up his mind that he was not
going to play into the system but he was going to overcome it and get out of Johnson City. However,
this long and difficult path that he decided to take would eventually sculpt him into the decent
president he became later on in his life. First dilemma that he faced was his family s financial
problems. This allowed for health problems to decimate him and his family. During these financial
problems, his family scraped up enough money to

Stereotypes Of Beef Cattle
Bovine Get Stressed Too Stress? Cattle? Do they not just lie around and chew their cud? The
stereotype of lazy cows soaking up the sun perhaps is far stretched. Cattle are associated with this
stereotype because it is what people see. An average citizen s only interactions with cattle are seeing
them in the field grazing; however a farmer understands to keep his profit and cattle healthy he must
reduce stress. A farmer understands his cattle and knows that a routine is necessary to keep stress to a
rare occurrence. Factors that play into cattle stress involve even a small change to the routine such as a
dog wandering around the pen. The cow becomes spooked, and she becomes anxious. The cow
extracts more energy watching the dog, being alert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrasting from humans under stress cattle eat less and less putting on less weight and in many cases
losing weight. Beef cattle brought to a processing plant are graded on carcass value including
marbling, rib eye area, and overall appearance of the meat on the rail. A producer gets the profit based
on the evaluation grade on the individual calf. The FAO states, It is necessary for animals to be stress
and injury free during operations prior to slaughter, so as not to unnecessary deplete muscle glycogen
reserves ( Effects of Stress 2). As an animal is stressed during loading, unloading, and stunning the
vital glycogen in the muscle is drastically reduced and can disappear. Glycogen is transformed into
lactic acid that works as a tenderizer and taste influence for consumers. A producer could operate a
stress free farm, however if the trip to the processing plant is extremely stressful the whole year worth
of feeding and making a calf s life easy, is possibly a risk with the value of the carcass plummeting
quickly. Although the farmer took many of the correct steps, a small dose of stress before processing
can destroy all the hard work and leave consumers with a tough tasteless meat. In conclusion, the
amount of stress on cattle can reduce production in all aspects and ultimately leave the farmer empty
handed and the consumer can be left with rotten, tasteless food. Stress must be reduced to a minimum
to bring forth the best most profitable product. Perhaps all farmers should shoot for having cattle be
that stereotype of easily soaking up the sunshine and lying on a side hill chewing cud. What is the cost
of stress? Can the reduction of stress bring a better life to all aspects of the beef industry? Will the
reduction of stress create a better product for consumers? What is the real cost of

The Exorcist Is One Wacky Series
The Exorcist franchise is one wacky series. You had the amazing original film, which was one of the
most intense horror films to come out at the time. Then, X years later we got the crazy, shitty Exorcist
II: The Heretic, that had James Earl Jones flying on the back of a bug through the desert or something
equally stupid. It wasn t until X years later that we finally got a proper sequel, The Exorcist III, but
that too was plagued with issues, with both Director/Author William Peter Blatty and the studio not
agreeing on what they wanted as a final product. I haven t even mentioned the even crazier Exorcist:
The Beginning, directed by Renny Harlin, which was later re released as the slightly superior version
Dominion: Prequel to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the book tells you that Detective Kinderman was a big time friend with Karras, but honestly,
I never felt that when reading the original The Exorcist novel.
The story behind Legion focuses on a murder investigation involving the deceased Gemini Killer and
Kinderman trying to figure who exactly is behind these most recent killings, which bear the true MO
of the Gemini Killer. He eventually ends up interviewing a psych patient who says he is the Gemini
Killer, but when Kinderman visits him, he is completely thrown for a loop when he sees the definitely
should be dead Father Damien Karras, who is being possessed by the Killer. The rest of the novel,
unfortunately, features pages and pages of Blatty s theories on evaluation and random nonsense that
has nothing to do with the main story. Honestly, the book ended up being awful because of that.
When 1990 was approaching, a sequel to The Exorcist was being demanded. Blatty came on as
writer/director and went to work adapting his once screenplay, now book, Legion. The original idea
for Exorcist III, at the time called Legion, was to follow the original story pretty closely and not have
any sort of exorcism at all. Blatty hired actor Brad Dourif to play Damien Karras, as Jason Miller was
indisposed at the time and the film pretty much was wrapped up before the studio was like Hey, why
is there no damn

Ford Pinto
Principles of Responsible Commerce (COMM 101)
Case 2.3 (The Ford Pinto)
Week 4 1. What moral issues does the Pinto case raise?
Moral issues that Ford Pinto case raises included producing dangerous products which are not safe to
use it without informing the dangerous of the products to the public. In addition, lobbying the NHTSA
to delay the safety measure of the products is also one of the moral issues that Ford Pinto case raises.
(53 words)
2. Suppose Ford officials were asked to justify their decision. What moral principles do you think they
would invoke? Assess Ford s handling of the Pinto from the perspective of each of the moral theories
discussed in this chapter.
The theory of egoism is most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is doing so ever morally legitimate?
No. Kant s 2nd categorical imperatives stated that we need to treat humanity always an end and never
as a means. (Shaw, Barry amp; Sansbury, 2009, pg77) According to the case, Ford did not put a human
s life as the first priority; in fact, they placed a monetary value on a human s life. They are using the
human life to determine whether their decision is profitable in the cost benefit analysis which is
against Kantianism. (67 words)
6. What responsibilities to its customers do you think Ford had? What are the most important moral
rights, if any, operating in the Pinto case?
Ford should produce the products that are safe to be used. Besides that, Ford should also be honest to
the customer by providing the truth information to the customer. In this case, the most important moral
rights is every human being has the inherent right to live. Thus, Ford should disclose the dangerous of
their products to the customer. (59 words)
7. Would it have made a moral difference if the savings resulting from not improving the Pinto gas
tank had been passed on to Ford s customer? Could a rational customer have chosen to save a few
dollars and risk having the more dangerous gas tank? What if Ford had told potential customers about
its decision?
No. There would not have made a moral difference since the products are dangerous which might risk
the human s life.

Introduction:
As Gowthope (2005, p.148) said that: A budget is a plan, expressed in financial and/or more general
quantitative terms, which extends forward for a period into the future. Budgets are widely used in
organisations of all types and sizes. Budgeting actually refers to the process that, after the strategic
plan of the business has been made, companies made a short term plan (usually one year) to meet the
strategic purpose. Traditional budgeting has offered a lot of contributions in so many years‟ practice;
no one has a better summary of all advantage of traditional budget as ... Show more content on

Traditional Budgeting Approach (TBA):
There are various methods to prepare a budget. Here we are concerned with the traditional approach to
budgeting known also as the incremental budgeting which involves basing next year‟s budget on the
current year‟s results plus an extra amount for estimated growth or inflation (APC309 Workbook,
2008).
It is claimed that in many organisations the traditional budgeting remains widespread, and that 99%
of European and US companies are using budgets and have no intention of abandoning them, it was
also stated that over 60% of those companies claim that they are not highly satisfied with their current
budgeting systems and are continuously trying to improve the budgeting process to meet the demands
set for management in creating sustainable value (report: Better Budgeting, 2004, p.2 3). From this
perspective it is obvious that traditional budgeting approach and budgets in general hold many
benefits as well as problems.
Implementing TBA on a static market:
When implemented within businesses, such technique will be more suitable for firms where each
year‟s performance and activities are similar to the previous one and conditions are predictable, an
active market that can take up large sales which do not change much in relation with changes

In the poem The Negro Speaks of Rivers , Langston Hughes tells a story of the black man s journey to America while trying to hold on to his past. Hughes uses imagery and tone to create a picture that illustrated racial pride and dignity. Phillis Wheatley, On Being Brought from Africa to America describes the positivity of being an American slave and the perks of Christianity. The major theme that runs throughout these two poems are how someone views their own race. Though each poem is set around the same time period, we can see two different effects of slavery and it could change in an person. Wheatley s On Being Brought from Africa to America has a lot of literary devices within it and reading it out loud really helps you find them. There is some end rhyme like eye die ; land understand ; and cain train . Lines 7 and 8 shows a heroic couplet; Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain,/ May be refin d, and join th angelic train. Another big literary device that could not be overlooked is personification. In the first line of the poem, the speaker personifies mercy . The speaker is using the term mercy in a biblical notion and in that sense mercy could not have physically picked the speaker up and carry him or her over to America. In Langston Hughes The Negro speaks of Rivers , the speaker sets a tone while makes a connect between him and the earth he lived on. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though the arts are more abstract, subjective, and lenient in subject areas, they are still the crucial link and passage to the world of creativity, imagination, and passion. The arts are irreplaceable subjects that should be maintained in schools because only they can provide a truly well rounded education to students, harnessing them with priceless skills that simply cannot be found in purely academic classes, while providing numerous benefits that no other programs can replace. A World Order By Jhumpa Lahiri Nair attempts to interpret and relocate the characters from their succinct semantic images on paper and re cast them as believable entities embodying social, economic and psychological baggage in an essentially postmodern world order. In Lahiri s novel, a world order presents itself where people like Ashoke and Ashima are subconsciously put on the fringes of the mainstream American society, in part by their attitude and approach to the new, almost alien societal and cultural experiences and circumstances and in part by the reaction to their reaction by the world around them. And this is essentially a conflicting world order where there is an intent to adapt to this bewildering newness around while there is equally strong a yearning for the familiar and much cherished roots. The two characters (Ashima more visibly so) are torn, as it were, between the two worlds, and struggling to conform to either! Into this palpable melee comes the son. Jaehun Lee 12/4/17 3rd Writing Assignment At the end of the 19th century, fin de siècle did not just indicate the end of one century: it indicated the collapse of language and a way of thinking. This idea was illustrated by works such as von Hofmannstahl s Lord Chandos Letter and Schnitzler s Dream Story, which seem to argue that a new mode of thinking was necessary for a new age. Indeed, Freud s writings and Trakl s poems offered this new mode of thinking by challenging the border between what is real and what is imaginary through their works. In music and art, a similar trend was taking place: late 19th century works offered the audience a window into the artist s emotions, experiences, and desires. This idea is seen in Gustav Mahler s 1st Symphony and Egon Schiele s Seated Male Nude, in which both artists channel their experiences and emotions to release suppressed elements of their psyches. However, the purpose for their expressivity is different: Mahler s expressivity stems from a desire to find relief from mental stress stemming from his turbulent life, Schiele s from a desire to explore new ways of conveying the self. Mahler s 1st Symphony holds an intimate relationship with his childhood and upbringing; the music reflects and reveals Mahler s experiences and desires for what his future will look like. From the beginning of his 1st Symphony, Mahler paints a vast, open space with the string s sustained, unison A. Various musical figures in the beginning of the 1st ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, an article in the American Medical Writers Association Journal (AMWA) states the following dates for each generation: Veteran (1937 1945), Baby Boomer (1946 1964), Generation X (1965 1984), and Millennial (1985 2005) ( Top 10 Characteristics Of The Four ... • 42. Lyndon B. Johnson s Presidency Every president has had to start somewhere in politics. Every single one of them has had some sort of political experience before they ran for president except the exceptional rule breaker, Donald Trump. Lyndon B. Johnson was no different. As a fourteen year old boy, he made up his mind that he was not going to play into the system but he was going to overcome it and get out of Johnson City. However, this long and difficult path that he decided to take would eventually sculpt him into the decent president he became later on in his life. First dilemma that he faced was his family s financial problems. This allowed for health problems to decimate him and his family. During these financial problems, his family scraped up enough money to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Stereotypes Of Beef Cattle Bovine Get Stressed Too Stress? Cattle? Do they not just lie around and chew their cud? The stereotype of lazy cows soaking up the sun perhaps is far stretched. Cattle are associated with this stereotype because it is what people see. An average citizen s only interactions with cattle are seeing them in the field grazing; however a farmer understands to keep his profit and cattle healthy he must reduce stress. A farmer understands his cattle and knows that a routine is necessary to keep stress to a rare occurrence. Factors that play into cattle stress involve even a small change to the routine such as a dog wandering around the pen. The cow becomes spooked, and she becomes anxious. The cow extracts more energy watching the dog, being alert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrasting from humans under stress cattle eat less and less putting on less weight and in many cases losing weight. Beef cattle brought to a processing plant are graded on carcass value including marbling, rib eye area, and overall appearance of the meat on the rail. A producer gets the profit based on the evaluation grade on the individual calf. The FAO states, It is necessary for animals to be stress and injury free during operations prior to slaughter, so as not to unnecessary deplete muscle glycogen reserves ( Effects of Stress 2). As an animal is stressed during loading, unloading, and stunning the vital glycogen in the muscle is drastically reduced and can disappear. Glycogen is transformed into lactic acid that works as a tenderizer and taste influence for consumers. A producer could operate a stress free farm, however if the trip to the processing plant is extremely stressful the whole year worth of feeding and making a calf s life easy, is possibly a risk with the value of the carcass plummeting quickly. Although the farmer took many of the correct steps, a small dose of stress before processing can destroy all the hard work and leave consumers with a tough tasteless meat. In conclusion, the amount of stress on cattle can reduce production in all aspects and ultimately leave the farmer empty handed and the consumer can be left with rotten, tasteless food. Stress must be reduced to a minimum to bring forth the best most profitable product. Perhaps all farmers should shoot for having cattle be that stereotype of easily soaking up the sunshine and lying on a side hill chewing cud. What is the cost of stress? Can the reduction of stress bring a better life to all aspects of the beef industry? Will the reduction of stress create a better product for consumers? What is the real cost of ... • 44. The Exorcist Is One Wacky Series The Exorcist franchise is one wacky series. You had the amazing original film, which was one of the most intense horror films to come out at the time. Then, X years later we got the crazy, shitty Exorcist II: The Heretic, that had James Earl Jones flying on the back of a bug through the desert or something equally stupid. It wasn t until X years later that we finally got a proper sequel, The Exorcist III, but that too was plagued with issues, with both Director/Author William Peter Blatty and the studio not agreeing on what they wanted as a final product. I haven t even mentioned the even crazier Exorcist: The Beginning, directed by Renny Harlin, which was later re released as the slightly superior version Dominion: Prequel to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the book tells you that Detective Kinderman was a big time friend with Karras, but honestly, I never felt that when reading the original The Exorcist novel. The story behind Legion focuses on a murder investigation involving the deceased Gemini Killer and Kinderman trying to figure who exactly is behind these most recent killings, which bear the true MO of the Gemini Killer. He eventually ends up interviewing a psych patient who says he is the Gemini Killer, but when Kinderman visits him, he is completely thrown for a loop when he sees the definitely should be dead Father Damien Karras, who is being possessed by the Killer. The rest of the novel, unfortunately, features pages and pages of Blatty s theories on evaluation and random nonsense that has nothing to do with the main story. Honestly, the book ended up being awful because of that. When 1990 was approaching, a sequel to The Exorcist was being demanded. Blatty came on as writer/director and went to work adapting his once screenplay, now book, Legion. The original idea for Exorcist III, at the time called Legion, was to follow the original story pretty closely and not have any sort of exorcism at all. Blatty hired actor Brad Dourif to play Damien Karras, as Jason Miller was indisposed at the time and the film pretty much was wrapped up before the studio was like Hey, why is there no damn ... • 46. APC 309 Strategic Management Accounting Module Title: Strategic Management Accounting Module Code: APC309 Individual assignment SUNDERLAND BUSINESS SCHOOL Date: 16/04/2011 Introduction: As Gowthope (2005, p.148) said that: A budget is a plan, expressed in financial and/or more general quantitative terms, which extends forward for a period into the future. Budgets are widely used in organisations of all types and sizes. Budgeting actually refers to the process that, after the strategic plan of the business has been made, companies made a short term plan (usually one year) to meet the strategic purpose. Traditional budgeting has offered a lot of contributions in so many years‟ practice; no one has a better summary of all advantage of traditional budget as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Traditional Budgeting Approach (TBA): There are various methods to prepare a budget. Here we are concerned with the traditional approach to budgeting known also as the incremental budgeting which involves basing next year‟s budget on the current year‟s results plus an extra amount for estimated growth or inflation (APC309 Workbook, 2008). It is claimed that in many organisations the traditional budgeting remains widespread, and that 99% of European and US companies are using budgets and have no intention of abandoning them, it was also stated that over 60% of those companies claim that they are not highly satisfied with their current budgeting systems and are continuously trying to improve the budgeting process to meet the demands set for management in creating sustainable value (report: Better Budgeting, 2004, p.2 3). From this perspective it is obvious that traditional budgeting approach and budgets in general hold many benefits as well as problems. Implementing TBA on a static market: When implemented within businesses, such technique will be more suitable for firms where each year‟s performance and activities are similar to the previous one and conditions are predictable, an active market that can take up large sales which do not change much in relation with changes ...
