The Scarlet Ibis Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "The Scarlet Ibis" poses a considerable challenge, primarily
due to the depth and complexity of the themes and characters within the narrative. This poignant
short story by James Hurst delves into themes of pride, sacrifice, love, and the cruelty of nature,
making it a rich but intricate subject for analysis.
Firstly, one must navigate the intricate layers of symbolism embedded within the narrative,
deciphering the significance of the titular scarlet ibis, the symbolism of the color red, and the
parallels drawn between the bird and the protagonist, Doodle. Additionally, exploring the
dynamics of the relationship between Doodle and his brother requires a nuanced understanding
of familial bonds, guilt, and the desire for acceptance.
Furthermore, crafting a compelling essay requires delving into the author's stylistic choices, such
as his use of vivid imagery, foreshadowing, and flashback, which contribute to the story's
emotional impact. Analyzing these elements demands a keen eye for detail and a thorough
understanding of literary devices.
Moreover, interpreting the story's broader thematic concerns, such as the consequences of pride
and the inevitability of death, necessitates critical thinking and the ability to synthesize textual
evidence to support one's arguments.
In conclusion, composing an essay on "The Scarlet Ibis" entails grappling with complex themes,
dissecting symbolism, analyzing literary techniques, and synthesizing ideas—all of which
require careful consideration and scholarly rigor.

Examples Of Clytemnestra In The Odyssey
Clytemnestra s Odyssey
In Robert Fagles introduction to Aeschylus s tragedy Agamemnon, he calls
Clytemnestra a female Odysseus who has the right of retaliation on her side. Fagles
comments on Clytemnestra s actions and comparison of her to Odysseus can be
justified. In The Odyssey, Odysseus is seen as a very masculine authority figure
whose character is defined by his strength, courage, and confidence. His most
distinguishing trait, however, is his sharp intellect, which helps him out of some very
tough situations he finds himself in throughout the epic. Similarly in Agamemnon,
Clytemnestra is portrayed as a strong, independent, and quick witted character who
defies every convention of the female gender role. Within the beginning of the tragedy
, the watchman and the chorus describe Clytemnestra as, although being just a
woman, a man in strength of purpose. This provides a clear distinction between
gender roles but also presents Clytemnestra as having manly qualities. One such being
her dominant leadership, a trait shared by Odysseus too, during her husband s
absence. Fagles notion of Clytemnestra having the right ... Show more content on

It is the rejection of this role that leads to many thinking of her as devilish and
abnormal. Another factor that leads to her portrayal as a diabolic character is her
cunningness, portrayed in her skillful manipulation of the language she uses.
Clytemnestra s double meaning in her words which not only deceives Agamemnon
s men but also sends a justification to the gods for what is to come can be seen as
frightening as it is ingenious. Aeschylus portrayal of Clytemnestra can also be seen
as negative as it is positive. She seeks justice for her daughter which many people can
relate too. But at the same time is totally unrepentant for the act of
Persuasive Essay On Brown Coal
Coal is currently one of the world s largest sources of energy. There are different
types of coal which are peat, lignite, bituminous and anthracite. Brown coal (lignite)
is a combustible sedimentary rock that is found in the layers under the earth. Brown
coal is the lowest grade of coal and is soft due to the water content. Since brown coal
is high in moisture and is combustive, it was uneconomical to transport, but currently
available drying techniques makes it easier to transport. A question that has been
raised over the years is whether power stations which use brown coal should be
closed.
PROS
There are many benefits of closing down power stations which burns brown coal
which includes:
1.Less pollution
Brown coal creates much more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes greenhouse gases responsible for the greenhouse effect which leads to
global warming. Brown coal fuels 92 percent of generated electricity in Victoria. By
closing down power stations that use brown coal, the total greenhouse gas emissions
will decrease by a huge number.
3.Less carbon dioxide being produced into the air
Australia s brown coal power stations are the highest carbon emitting power plants
in the world. When carbon dioxide is released into the air, it traps the heat and
warms the planet. Carbon dioxide currently represents 84 percent of all greenhouse
gases, which totals to about 30 billion tons a year, produced by human activities.
Not only does carbon dioxide affect the atmosphere, it has also made the oceans 30
percent more acidic and therefore affects a variety of sea organism.
4.Lower risk of hazardous mining
While coal mining has the advantage of providing employment, cave ins and
explosions are common in mining. This leaves people s lives in danger. There is
also a risk to not only those working in the mines, but also those living close to dig
areas. Constant exposure to chemicals can result in lung cancer, respiratory diseases,
heart failure and low birth

Dwight D. Eisenhower s Argumentative Analysis
Eventually, another Dwight D Eisenhower like federal push will be necessary to
modernize our ailing automotive infrastructure. Otherwise, the horrendous service
we have today will keep us in a perpetual state of just below outrage. The problem,
this time around, will be aesthetics. In 1956, the Federal Aid Act yielded essentially
immediate ostensible results; you could see workers actually making roads where
before there was mud and nothing else. When we modernize roads in the future,
people will not be able to see much change. In fact, aside from widening some
criminally narrow roads, and maybe a few additional routes where appropriate; before
and after pictures will likely be pretty much identical. Again, Eisenhower left an

Most of the amendments will be technological or educational in nature, basically
people need to learn to drive better, and technology can help with and with more
innovative things. Going back to the Google of it all, they are exposing a rather
interesting hypocrisy that even they have not vocalized. We are being so stringent
with the education of autonomous autos, without introspectively examining the
educational system in place for human drivers, which is awful in the US. I have more
on that, but that will be for another article. If people drove as well as autonomous
autos have to before hitting public roads, they would not be needed to alleviate the
existing congestion. The other (the first being autonomy) industry altering
advancement is one that our current infrastructure not ready for; the extensive
electrification of our automotive industry. Granted, Tesla has forced the country to
conform to some degree, but it nascent at best. Honestly, it might even be a step in
the wrong direction, in that even at peak efficiency, superchargers will always be
massively inconvenient. The technology to make charging lanes is already
theoretically possible, it only needs to be improved
The Effects Of Fuels On The Manufacturing Of Fuels
Introduction | How it s all done
In the present day humans are dependent on the manufacturing of fuels, as for many
of the quotidian implements and machinery rely on fuel as a potency source. Just to
expand on this idea, copious amounts of objects hinge on the forms of potential
energy that fuels provide. Particular objects only function with one specific fuel, as
there are many fuels that are only subjected to certain types of machinery as the
machinery them self differ from each other. This consists of availing cars, airplanes,
stoves, trains and many more machinery to be able to perform the tasks efficiently.
The average car is probably the most used machinery and not only that, it most likely
uses the highest amount of fuel in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The smallest molecule formed in the Alkanes series is methane, as it only consist of
one carbon atom to four hydrogen atoms, continuing along the series the number of
carbon atoms increase proportional to the hydrogen atoms (Alkanes and Alkenes, the
Chemistry Journey, the Fuse School Global Education, 2013). To comprise all the
molecules together and describe their relationship a general formula for these series
can be utilized, showing the differentiation of each molecule by a constant unit.
Now, unsaturated molecules are categorised as alkenes, implicating there double
covalent bond between the two carbon atoms. Comparing the molecules ethane and
ethene, it is apparent the difference in their molecular structure. The saturated
(ethane) molecules have a singular covalent bond with another carbon atom sharing
one electron with each other (Alkanes and Alkenes, the Chemistry Journey, the Fuse
School Global Education, 2013). Deconstructing the valence shells of the carbon
atom, it is known that it has four possible electrons that can partake in the chemical
bond. Therefore, if one electron is already occupied, by sharing with another carbon
atom, the three electrons then bond with three hydrogen s, thus completing the
valence shell and creating ethane. Ethene on the other hand, has a double covalent
bond with another carbon atom, thus take up two of its four valence electrons,
meaning only two hydrogen atoms can join the chemical bond.

Compliance 360 also assists in HITECH compliance by providing automated
assessments and responses to electronic health information (SAI Global, 2018). This
program appears to provide sufficient safeguards for HIPAA and HITECH
compliance; it strives to create alerts and audits without becoming overly intrusive in
hospital actions. Compliance 360 merely acts as an additional unbiased oversight
system, when dealing with patient information.
Health Finance Revenue Cycles Many health care organizations have issues keeping
track of contracts and as a result lose control of monetary outflow. Compliance 360
mitigates this loss of control through the maintenance of contracts through a central
portal (SAI Global, 2018). For money managers, this feature is incredibly valuable
and allows the organization to control spending through reductions in redundant

John Green s Affect Of The Renaissance On The

the main people that influenced the Renaissance. He also talked about some of the
important places that had an affect on the Renaissance. Along with how those places
were able to affect the Renaissance. Mr.Green also states some reasoning to why he
believes that the Renaissanceisn t a real event and how it never happened. Mr.Green
says that the Renaissance was the rebirth after all the terrible things that happened
throughout the dark ages of the 14th century Europe. The Renaissance happened
during the 15th and 16th century in Europe but mostly in Italy. It supposedly ushered
Europe into the modern era of rationality, secularism, and individualism. The

Now each city state had a product that made them prosper. For Florence it was cloth,

why the wealthiest city state was Venice. That is because they were excellent
shipbuilders, sailors, and merchants. They figured out how to trade with the biggest
economic power in the region, the Ottomans. They created most their profit from
trading paper to the Ottomans. Another way they turned a profit was with the highly
sought after Florentine textiles due to the textiles vibrant color that was dyed with
alum. Now they could only get this chemical for the Ottomans until 1460. That was
when the Pope s godson found alum in Italy and they started to mine the alum. The
family in charge of the alum mining rights were the Medici. Another way the
Muslims had an affect on the Renaissance was they supplied many of the literary
works for the Italians to study. This was because the Muslims spent centuries working
on Ancient Greek writings. They especially worked with the writings of apothem you

the Muslims and the Christians. Another great thing we can thank the Muslims for

trained by the imperial court to only be married. A famous writing by a Chinese

Persuasive Essay On Community Service
The options for community service are endless. After narrowing down my options,
I applied to volunteer at the Crystal Lake Public Library this past summer. Having
to go in for an interview was a new experience for me, considering how I have never
applied for a job. I believe that the exposure to the interview process did two things
for me: first, it put me out of my comfort zone, and second, it taught me invaluable
lessons about applying for future jobs and programs. This is because I am the kind
of person who can get nervous easily, and I struggle to hide it sometimes. An
interview is a type of situation that I would feel nervous in; however, I was able to
overcome my fear and apply to the library anyways. Therefore, I learned what I
should expect to be asked, and I understand how I should properly respond. Once I
was accepted to the library s volunteer network, I was able to choose which
department I would work for in order to serve the community.
By volunteering at the library, I improved the Youth Services department,
particularly by participating in the Adopt a Shelf program. One part of my job was
to rearrange the books in the correct order when they got disorganized. This made
it easier for parents and children to find the books, movies, and CDs they were
looking for. Another task that I enjoyed was replacing the books to their proper
location from the clean up cart. It is important for books to be on the shelves
where they belong because otherwise it appears that books are not available. My
favorite part of volunteering for the library, however, was getting to help kids pick
out the books they were looking for. I remember many of the people I helped, but
one of my fondest moments occurred on one of my first days. I was working in
the junior fiction department, and there was a young girl there. She wanted to find
a new series of books to read for the summer reading program. It was special to
show her the novels that I read when I was her age, especially when she chose to
start the Mother Daughter Book Club books: my favorite series in middle school. It
was moments like that that made me proud to be a part of the Crystal Lake Public
Library and their volunteer team. As a result of my work at the

How to Invest in a Racehorse
Legendary thoroughbred racehorse trainer and Australian Racing Hall of Fame
member, David Hayes once said, Buying a horse is like buying venture capital stock.
The pay offs will be better than the incremental returns you might experience playing
the stock market.
For centuries, horse racing was a sport only played by the rich. It became extremely
popular among the members of the royalty and the aristocracy that horse racing, or
thoroughbred racing, was branded as the Sport of Kings . But that was then.
Today, becoming an owner of a racehorse is not only limited to the people who move
in elevated social circles. Anyone who wants to own a thoroughbred racehorse has the
opportunity to make his/her dreams come true.

People who invest in horseracing is in for the game; they love the sport, the horses,

Skin Cancer
What is it and how to prevent it
Skin cancer is the most prevalent of all cancers. There are three types of skin cancer:
basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. In this
presentation I plan to discuss a little about each of these cases as well as tell ways to
prevent and treat them. The first most common skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma.
This cancer develops in the basal or bottom layer of the epidermis, which is the top
layer of the skin. The cause of this cancer is a gene called patched or PTC, which
helps to control cell growth and development. If this gene is missing, defective, or
damaged by ultra violet radiation, unrestrained cell proliferation may result. Basal cell

About 48,000 new cases are diagnosed annually in the United States. About 7,700
people die from this disease each year. Melanoma may suddenly appear without
warning but it may also begin in or near a mole or other dark spots in the skin. The
most important step you can make is to have any changing mole examined by a
dermatologist so that any early melanoma can be removed while still in the
curable stage. Heredity can also play a role since a person has an increased chance
of developing melanoma if a family member has had melanoma. Warning signs of
melanoma include: changes in the surface of a mole, scaliness, oozing, bleeding or
the appearance of a new bump, spread of pigment from the border into surrounding
skin, and change in sensation including itchiness, tenderness, or pain. In conclusion,
skin cancer is a danger to all whom work or dwell in the sun while at its peak. To
prevent skin cancer of any kind, the Skin Cancer Foundation recommends that
people avoid the sun at its peak, which is from10am 4pm. Use sunscreen regularly.
Any skin changes or abnormalities should be reported to a physician. In the event
that you do develop skin cancer, there are surgical methods used to remove cancerous

cryosurgery. In advanced cases, surgical removal of tissue along with radiation,

Reasons Why College Athletes Should Get Paid
There are many reasons why college athletes should get paid. Many people will
agree and disagree with the argument of should athletes get paid why or why not.
The main reasons may include finical help to pay for college to teach athletes how to
manage money and how to be wise with little money, not having enough money can
hold players back from finishing college, and finally the amount of money going into
the program should be shared with the athletes as they are the reason for the money
coming in. Going to college and being a student athleteis never easy and the ways to
help them is by paying them to help them get through school and succeed. To start
off, college athletes have literally no money as their goal is to go to college to
make it into the big leagues. Coming to college with no money makes it hard for
these athletes to go out and live life and have fun just like normal students do. Just
because they are athletes does not mean that they cannot go out and have fun also.
Many of the companies like ESPN pays BCS $500 million dollars. If these were
combined and people in the business of the money took $1.3 billion off the top they
could split it up with investing it, sheltering it, and possibly providing some with
college athletes and giving them an opportunity to go out and do something. On
ESPN.com the article College Athletes Deserves to be Paid stated There s also a
special assistance fund and a student athlete opportunity fund. So, with that being said

Religion And Faith Are Essential For Survival
Religion and Faith are Essential for Survival The power that religion posses has
been taught from mankind s existence, it can be lead to justice or oppression but not
all are connected to a religion various lifestyles have different explanations of cause,
focus and direction. The importance role of religionand faith in one s life, as depicted
in the fictional novel of Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner is portrayed through
characters and events. Firstly the strength of a relationship is dependent upon the
religious practices and understanding the importance of religion in a pair. Secondly,
the superego represents that standards of one s moral principles and their personality.
Thirdly, there are numerous interpretation of the meaning of religion and that builds a
personal belief system. The powerful role that faith and religion have on an individual
s life is demonstrated by strengthening relationships, developing moralityand setting a
personal belief system.
To begin with, religion influences a person s character as it alters the way they
behave. Amir is not a religious figure but when in times of trouble, he looks up to
Allah for reassurance. Amir says There is a God, there has to be and now I will pray, I
will pray that He forgive that I have neglected Him all of these years, forgive that I
have betrayed, lied and sinned with impunity only to turn to Him now in my hour
of need, I pray that He is as merciful, benevolent and gracious as His book says He

that she wanted to be a teacher since she was a little girl. Her dad used to tell her
that there was no money in teaching, but she did not care because teaching was
were her heart was at. Money did not matter to her, what did matter was her
happiness and the chance to do good in the world. She said that when she was
younger she used to have a giant chalkboard by her bed and she would lineup all
her stuffed animals and dolls next to the board and pretend to instruct them.
Becoming a professor was her ultimate goal so the fact that she had two kids wasn t
going to stop her from going back to school to get her Masters degree which she
eventually did. She also struggled to make ends meet when she worked at a grocery
store bagging goods, but that did not deter her. This demonstrates that if one is fully
committed to what they want to accomplish, there is no stopping them and with
perseverance they shall triumph. When Cynthia shares her personal life stories it sits
well with the class because some of the students are going through the same phases
that she had to endure at one point in
Building A Waddell A-Truss Bridge
Building a Waddell A Truss Bridge
Introduction:
Bridges have been used for thousands of years, beginning with natural formations,
such as huge rock arches (Appendix A). The first bridges made by humans were
most likely simple spans of wooden tree trunks laid across streams, or planks, such
as rafts tied together (Gascoigne, 2001). These simple designs evolved over time, as
new materials became available, to form the hundreds of bridges we use today. Some
basic bridge designs include truss, arch, beam and suspension bridges. The most
basic of these is the beam bridge (Appendix B1), which consists of a deck, spanning
a relatively short distance, that is held up by a pair of abutments (vertical supports at
either end). When weight is placed on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that it excessively designed, and can create excessive burdens on the
cost, size and complexity (Sade, 2014). When designing large bridges, these three
factors (excessive cost, size and complexity) regulate if a bridge is built, or if a
different design is chosen. The Waddell A truss bridge (Appendix C) is a truss
bridge designed by engineer John Alexander Low Waddell. It was built in 1898, as
a short span railway bridge, and is one of only two bridges remaining which had
the A truss design. Due to its high trusses, it is quite rigid in all directions, and it is
easily erected as it has a simple design (Syazwi, 2013). These are some of the
reasons why the Waddell a truss design was chosen. It is simple to create out of the
materials which can be used (Manila folders) as it consists of beams and bars, as
well as some gusset plates (Appendix C). Not only this, but the design allows it to
hold quite a large amount of weight, in spite of the fact that a folder is not
necessarily strong. However when folded, it may be surprising how much a small
piece of card can actually hold. Manila folders were used to create this bridge
because they are inexpensive, easy to cut bend and glue, have surprisingly predictable
structural behaviour and can be used to build tubes, bars and strong
Case Study Of Parmalat Scandal
Corporate accounting fraud is the major factor that has led to the collapse of many
companies, one of which is Parmalat company scandal. The Parmalat group, a
world leader in the dairy food business, collapsed and entered bankruptcy protection
in December 2003 after acknowledging that billions of euros were missing from its
accounts. Its collapse had been labeled as European Enron and has led to a deep
questioning of the reliability of accounting and financial reporting standards as well
as that of the Italian corporate governance system. Therefore, this paper has
discussed, firstly, what factors have allowed fraudto occur in Parmalat. Secondly,
how the fraud could have been avoided from happening in this company. Thirdly, has
discussed some red flags that indicate fraud was occurring in the company. Lastly, the
paper has discussed some of the lessons that can be learnt from the Parmalat company
scandal.

companies in the food industry which resulted in financial losses. Also he
manipulated financial reports in order to hide losses. Tanzi further, diverted 500

without taking approval from shareholders and stakeholders.
Second person involved in the scandal was the CFO of the company Fausto Tonna; he
was completely dependent on the internal auditor, without even checking the
company books that were handled by the auditor. He also announced a bond issue of

Understanding: What are your thoughts and questions about the story? You might
reflect upon characters, their problems, the title, or other ideas in the story. J. D.

(230) Holden is stuck between two of his needs: and isolation and companionship.
Whenever he tries to address one he must inherently ignore the other.
Interpretation: Choose two passages from the book that you think indicate an
important change in the main character from the beginning of the story to the end.
What do you think causes this change and how do the passages show this change?
It s very difficult to find passages containing changes in the main character in The
Catcher in the Rye, because it is about Holden trying to resist change, trying to stay
in the world of innocent world of childhood and out of the phony adult world. I
researched the Robert Burns poem in the title that Holden misinterprets (Coming
Thro the Rye), and it is actually a poem about casual sex... (Isn t that a nice song
for children to be singing?) Holden sees himself as the catcher in the rye, saving all
the children from falling off a cliff: Anyway, I keep picturing all these little kids

Exploratory Research Philosophy Paper
With the understanding of the research philosophy and the selection of the
appropriate approach made above, now it is much easier to strategize the type of
research to solve the research problem and its sub problems. There are many
strategies in research. The most common ones are experimenting, survey, case study,
action research, grounded theory, ethnography and archival research.
Before deciding the strategy for the research, it is important to understand the
purpose of this research. Is it intended to explore or describe or explain the
phenomena? The exploratory research is intended to gain the base information about
the problem by defining the terms, explore the root of the problem, testing hypothesis
and provide a solution to the problem.
Sartre
Jean Paul Sartre was an existentialist French philosopher. In Being and Nothingness,
he writes that Man is a useless passion. Sartre reaches this conclusion because man
loses himself as man in order that God may be born. But the idea of God is
contradictory and we lose ourselves in vain. Sartre is saying that, through the
invention of God, man surrenders his freedom and individuality, and therefore, his
humanity. In Existentialismis a Humanism, Sartre elaborates on this by claiming that
humanity has no purpose and that there is no such thing as a human nature. In his
rejection of a perfect God, Sartre raises the significance of the imperfect individual
up to the empty space left in the absence of a divine master. Sartre asserts that... Show

This is despair, or a lack of hope. To hope would be pointless, because any factor
outside of the individual s own influence should not be of concern. There is no
God in Sartre s world, so there is no greater being that possesses the power to
influence these factors. Because of this, Sartre adopts a stance similar to that of
Epictetus, that one should only concern themselves with what is within his power to
influence. As Sartre writes that things will be what men have chosen them to be.
(Sartre, p 36). In this statement, Sartre both assigns responsibility to the human race
for its actions and the choices made each individual human and raises another
issue. If whatever will happen will happen, what is the purpose of trying to change
that which is within our power? Sartre recognizes this problem and addresses it
immediately by answering Man is nothing other than his own project. He exists only
in so far as he realizes himself, therefore he is nothing more than the sum of his
actions, nothing more than his life. (Sartre, p 37). In other words, action is the only
way for an individual to truly exist. If one submits himself to quietism and
complacency, he surrenders his humanity because he is surrendering his individuality
and the ownership of his thoughts to more powerful people. This is exactly the same
reason Sartre rejects the existence of a God and moves that man
The Rise of the Norman Empire
Hold the wall! shouted King Harold II as the Normans began to work their way past
the Anglo Saxon shield wall. The Anglo Saxon empire reigned over London for its
fair share of time before William the Duke of Normandy decided to take it from them.
William was the son of Robert I and his wife was Matilda of Flanders. William was of
Viking origin and he spoke French. King Harold II was ruler of London after King
Harold I died. King Harold II was the last Anglo Saxon King of England. In the year
1066 a great battle took place that would change the way London lived forever. This
battle was called The Battle of Hastings.

and the victor of the battle would own that road. The coastline of Sussex was

campaign and William wanted control of the only proper road to the Heart of
England. The battle was not actually fought in the town of Hastings but rather fought
roughly seven miles away from the town. The reason they called the Battle, the
Battle of Hastings was because back in the middle ages era battle was important. The
people of 1066 agreed that battle was wealthy. The title Battle of Battle simply did

Most things known about the Battle of Hastings was collected from the Bayeux

The Bayeux Tapestry depicts the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings, during

Fear Of The Unknown In The Tent Peg By Van Herk
Fear of the Unknown In The Tent Peg, one feels the urge to comprehend the unknown
because of their curiosity, greed and desire to attain ultimate knowledge. The fear of
the unknown overwhelms people to such an extent that their actions, beliefs, and
behaviour are hindered by it. What is it about the unknown that is fearful? Van Herk
demonstrates that an individual is intimidated and threatened by the unknown, hence,
giving rise to one s survival instincts. The fearof the unknown is displayed through
the desire to colonize, dominate and conquer another. Throughout the novel,
characters discover that fear is relative and does not exist by itself. Greed is derived

The North And The Abraham Lincoln
Civil War The north and the Abraham Lincoln argues that the main reason for the
civil war was the slavery, whereas, the South and the confederate state reasoned that
the main causes of the war is the state s right and also southerners claimed that they
are being treated unfair on the federal tariff and taxes. The southerners wanted to
secede from the Union and preserve their right and the northerners wanted to keep
the Union from breaking as well as they want to abolish slavery. The Civil War, or
the War between the states, was fought on both moral and economic grounds. On the
most unique and modern war the world have ever seen, the north won the civil war
because of their regional advantages, population advantages, the better strategic
approach towards war and the support from the president. One of the most significant
advantages the north (Union) had was regional advantage. The Union held twenty
three states, including four border slave states, while the Confederacy included
eleven states. The population count was about 22 million in the Union to 9 million
in the Confederacy, and about 4 million of the latter were enslaved African
Americans. The Union therefore had an edge of about four to one in human
resources. To help redress the imbalance, the Confederacy mobilized 80 percent of its
military age white men, a third of whom would die during the prolonged war
(America, 655). An even greater advantage for the North was its industrial
development. The southern states

Scapegoats In Lord Of The Flies
Lord of the Flies Essay The use of scapegoats impacts our society to large extent
because it impacts many of our set ideals placed in American society today.

parameters of prejudices in today s society. Many innocent victims fall to the idea

The word scapegoat is described in the Bible s Book of Leviticus. The passage
goes something like this: On the Day of Atonement a live goat was chosen by lot.
The high priest, robed in linen garments, laid both his hands on the goat s head,
and confessed over it the iniquities of the children of Israel. The sins of the people
thus symbolically transferred to the beast, it was taken out into the wilderness and
let go. The people felt purged, and for the time being, guiltless. Since the biblical
times the term/word scapegoat has changed to refer to individuals or people who
are made to suffer the problems and faults of others. Scapegoating seems to be a
psychological act, in which it allows the perpetrator to eliminate negative feelings
about him or himself and provides a sense of relief. There have been many incidents
of scapegoating in the past year itself. One of the most used scapegoats would be

Lady Macbeth Act 4 Scene 1 Analysis
With the immense complexity of Macbeth, we often fail to notice the great
significance of little things. Major themes run throughout the duration of the play,
yet we don t notice them in every scene, despite them being present or not. In Act 4,
Scene 2, Lady MacDuff and her young son are talking to one another just before the
entire family of MacDuff is slayed. Hidden in the seemingly just very violent scene,
three messages can still be spotted. In Act 4, Scene 2 of Macbeththe themes of flight,
patience, and being a traitor can be found when looked for. The theme of flight is a
major theme that can be seen throughout the play. It is mentioned by nearly every
major character. During this scene Lady MacDuff is comparing her husband to a
bird because he left and went to England. She says, To leave his wife, to leave his
babes, his mansion and his titles, in a place from whence himself does fly? later
stating how even the most diminutive of birds, the wren, would stay and fight for its
family. Yet her husband has fled for England, which she thinks is out of cowardice....

America s Westward Expansion
During America s Westward expansion, many individuals struggled to survive. The
dangers of traveling were deadly to all groups. This especially applied to the
emigrants on the Oregon trail. The terrain on the trail was harsh which made the
journey very difficult. The emigrants on the Oregon Trail faced the most difficulty
trying to survive in the West because of the disease, expensive costsof travel, and
environmental threats.
To begin, the emigrants on the Oregon Trail encountered several problems. The many
problems they encountered are why they faced the most difficulty trying to survive in
the West. One problem the travelers faced was disease. Among the many months of
travel, sickness was spread. Unfortunately, they were very deadly.... Show more

Knowing that the trail they traveled on was more than 2,000 miles long, it would be
a long journey. On their trip, there were many supplies that were needed in order to
survive. The more distance they traveled, the more supplies they needed. From this,
everything would not be cheap. The emigrants traveled on wagons that were pulled
by animals. The wagons were mainly made out of wood that had a waterproof linen
canvas covering it. Linda Alchin states, The cost of a wagon ranged from $100 to
$200 dollars... (Oregon Trail). This was expensive during the time period. They
faced difficulty because the cost of the wagon was not worth it in some situations.
The wagons had no suspension, resulting in people to walk instead of riding. This
made it very uncomfortable for the emigrants. Also, on the rocky trail, many
wagons tipped over, crushing people. The highly priced cost of travel made it
difficult for the travelers to afford what was needed in order to survive the long
and harsh trip. Also, the wagons were pulled by different kinds of animals such as
horses, cows, mules and oxen. These animals were important to the emigrants as a
survival tool, but they were not cheap. In the article Oregon Trail for Kids, the
author states that the cost of the animal was about fifty dollars(Oregon Trail).Like
the wagon cost, the animal was expensive. The Prospectors in Gold Rush also faced
the same challenge. Instead of wagons and animals, they had to pay a certain amount
of money to travel by boat. Although it was hard for them to pay money to travel, the
emigrants were faced with more difficulty because they payed a higher amount.
Therefore, the cost to travel for the emigrants on the Oregon trail was not cheap. As a
result, it was difficult to
Stress in the Emergency Department
Stress, Burnout, and Compassion Fatigue in the Emergency Department Background
Nursing is a field that many enter with the intention of helping and providing care to
those with mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Lombardo Eyre, 2011).
Many consider nursing as their calling; yet have not prepared themselves for the
emotional and physical implications that come from having interpersonal
relationships with families and patients. As nurses care for the ill, traumatized, and
vulnerable patients in their charge, they inadvertently expose themselves to the pain,
suffering, and trauma that their patients are experiencing on a regular basis.
When the continued stress of this field is not dealt with, one can become a victim of
the overwhelming need that surrounds them, which can result in burnout or
compassion fatigue. This not only effects ones physical and emotional health, but
also results in decreased productivity and job satisfaction, as well as increasing job
turnover rate (Lombardo Eyre, 2011; Boyle, 2011). This concept is predominantly
true of those working in the Emergency Department, and is actually where the
context of compassion fatigue was first noted approximately two decades ago, but is
also seen across the spectrum of health care providers in all areas (Boyle, 2011).
This topic will be discussed further in the words following, as well as an exploration
of ways to overcome compassion fatigue in the workplace.

Shiloh, By Bobbie Ann Mason
Shiloh , by Bobbie Ann Mason, explores an interesting theme, the distinct parallel
between the surface level of what the events of the story are, and the meaning
underneath. This parallel is seen throughout the story, from the start when Leroy
Moffitt is building craft kits for at first just to pass time, while Norma Jean is
lifting weights and working at a Rexall drugstore for the same reason; To later on
when Norma says she doesn t know what she s talking about and Leroy thinks that
the way to saving his marriage is to come up with a last minute idea. The story
engages the theme of the parallellevels through the unstable marriage of Leroy and
Norma Jean. The theme of this parallel is shown overtly through the images,
descriptions, and characterizations of the log cabins in the story, and of Shiloh.
Interestingly, the characters and the world they live in are stuck on the surface,
shown through how both Leroy and Norma Jean drift on subjects, and through the
names in the story.
Norma Jean and Leroy s marriage shows an insight on the theme in action because
of how their lack of understanding the inner workings of marriage, which causes
them to drift apart and eventually separate. One of the most important things in
marriage is the ability to communicate, but neither of them are able to do so on a
meaningful level. An example of this is when Norma Jean starts to explain why she
wants to leave him, then as she walks away she takes back what she said, adding No,

dilemmas that Charles Geschke, co founder of Adobe Systems faced. Founders are
almost always facing many dilemmas with their startup company, whether they re

established a name for themselves. In his book, The Founder s Dilemmas, Noam

Reading How venture capitalists evaluate potential venture opportunities , an investor
said they usually invest in a person knows their sector very well. You could easily
hire another person who is good at marketing, and offers help with that. After all, if an
idea is so good but the only thing holding the investment opportunity back, then it
could be worth it. That s exactly what happened in this case, when Hambrecht offered
to get a consultant who would deal with the management of the business. The
consultant also helped the co founders build a business plan.
On reflection we know that as a company, Adobe Systemshas been very successful

of different severity may arise, which could completely derail the startup company.
So it is not uncommon for founders to feel scared or unsure about quitting their
current job to start a company which may or may not work. This is another
dilemma which Geschke had. He was in a stable job at a company called Xerox,
who is also in the technology industry. In his words, he had this great job at Xerox,

Body Cams Research Paper
A current topic of debate in the field crime enforcement is the use of officer mounted
body cams. There are multiple arguments for and against the implementation of this
type of technology which makes the authorization for use a tough decision for
officials. Proponents of the use of bodycams argue that if both the officer and
suspects know that their actions are being recorded, then they will control their
behavior as to not incriminate themselves. On the other side, opponents argue that
policeofficers may be hesitant to take the necessary steps in some cases for fear of
being reprimanded for their actions. An argument against the use of body cams is
that the police may not comply with policies, and only record at certain times. In his

In the United States, in particular, policies such as this may be necessary to reduce
police shootings and abuse of suspects. In 2011, police killed six people in
Australia, two in England, six in Germany and, according to an FBI count, 404 in
the United States. And that FBI number counted only justifiable homicides, and was
comprised of voluntarily submitted data from just 750 of 17,000 law enforcement

these numbers by a significant margin by providing reason for both the cops and the

police officers in routine crime stops if the citizen is aware that the officer s actions

STATEMENT OF INTENT
The genre for this piece of writing is column writing. My intended audience is
young adults who are interested in gaining an insider s perspective into what goes
on in the mind of a hijab wearer in today s society. The purpose of this piece is to
explore different aspects of the hijab and factors that may influence a teenager to
wear it. The idea I am developing is how different factors have influenced my journey
with wearing the hijab. Language features I will use to create effects include:

Book Review Of Mike Davis s Planet Of Slums
Mike Davis, in his Planet of Slums (New Left Review 2004)1, surely comes out
swinging in his attempt to convince his readers that the IMF and the World Bank
are managing the world into survivalist death camps known as the modern urban
city, making some good arguments for sound judgements in the areas of political
and/or business histories. Mike throws out all kinds of great big scary numbers,
many of which seem to be quite a bit over exaggerated, for instance he predicted
there would be at least 550 cities in the world with populations of over a million by
2015, whereas in 2016 there were only 512 of them as reported by the United
Nations in their The World s Cities in 2016 Data Book2. He got some of his data
form the UN, who has backed off from the numbers Mike used in the years since
2004, but have some new predictions for those that may desire (They now predict
there could be as many as 662 of them by 2030)2. But Mike also reported there were
400 of them when he wrote this article in 2004, whereas Mongabay reports there
were but 336 of them in 20053. Many of the citypopulation numbers also seem quite
high, at least as compared with Google and Wikipedia. He even more paranoidly
claims that in many cases the actual populations of these slums are massively
undercounted, and that many times they were undercounted deliberately by the heads
of state themselves. All that being said, we are in agreement that we are living in a
time of unprecedented human migration from
Relational Cultural Theory Of Mother Daughter
Relationships
Jordan (2011) writes about the application of relational cultural theory to mother
daughter relationships. Relational cultural theory argues that the mother child
relationship continually changes due to social context and time, and therapy can help
children rework empathic failures and acute disconnections to question the absolute
certainty of poor mothering. There were several statements that Jordan (2011) argued
that I found particularly applicable to my life. The book chapter mentions that
immigrant mothers tend to lose the support of a larger familynetwork, and this can
affect mothering. There is also the mention of a desire for connection, and the lack of
a connection can lead to an inability to be authentic in a relationship.
The first point that I would like to mention is the idea that immigrant mothers lose
support of an extended family network (Jordan, 2011). My personal experience can
verify this my parents left their parents behind in Russia and rarely see them. The
only extended family I have in the United States are one aunt, one uncle, and two
cousins. I have not seen them since I was 14 years old. The impact of moving to a
different country far from other family has great consequences. As far as I know, my
parents have few connections to other adults who understand their cultural
background, and as a result have no way of knowing if they are integrating their
parenting beliefs appropriately with the surrounding American culture. In addition, I

How To Make A Water Garden Essay
You can have a beautiful and calming water garden no matter how much or how
little space you have. All you need is a weekend and a little planning to have all the
beauty, tranquility and calming atmosphere you desire at an affordable price. Your
first decision will be to find a spot for your garden. Most people choose spots where
there is a good amount of shade in the afternoon and early evening. You will need at
least five hours of good sunlight a day for your water plants since most water plants
need direct sunlight to survive and be healthy. It s not recommended that you place
your water gardendirectly under a shade tree with over hanging branches that will
drop leaves into your pond, unless you like cleaning leaves out of it everyday. It
may help to remember while choosing a spot for your pond that water is heavy,
about 8 pounds per gallon, the addition of plants and fish will make things pretty
heavy so be sure the area you choose will hold everything plus the pump. Some
people like a variety of plants, fish or accessories in their ponds, while others only
want two or three things, this all depends on you and what pleases your senses.
Don t forget to place your garden close to an easily accessible water source since you
will need to replace water levels and keep things fresh and stable everyday. Next,
you will need to decide what type of enclosure you re going to build. Do not use
chemically treated wood since it contains arsenic and is not eco friendly.
One Of The Toughest Divisions In Football
One of the toughest divisions in football, the AFC North, is up for grabs again.
Three different teams have a legitimate reason to believe they will win it, and as
this division goes, the dark horse could surprise everyone. Most of the opinions out
there seem to be gravitating towards two teams in the division, though. No matter
the standings at the end of it all, it s sure to be a fun season. The Cleveland Browns
are the team least likely to win the division. The Browns do have one of the best
young defenses in the league, but questions on the offensive side of the ball makes
Cleveland impossible to trust. The key to their season is figuring out the quarterback
position. The Ravens, of Baltimore, would be no Cinderella team if they won
Elementary Hosts Popcorn At School
Every other Friday, Cascades Elementary hosts Popcorn Friday in their cafeteria.
Volunteers come and help make, bag, and distribute the salty snack to the
classrooms. The line goes popcorn machine, empty bags, bag folders and tape
placers, finished bags, and classroom totes. However, to make the line flow easily,
the line might go; empty bags, popcornmachine, bag folders, tapers, finished bags in
lines of five, and the classroom totes that are brought up from the classroom. This
suggested lineup requires a volunteerto open bags and place them so the popcorn
machine volunteer is able to reach the paper bags, and possibly a couple more
volunteers to ensure the supplies needed never runs out and the flow is maintained.
Unfortunately, many parents with nothing to do on Fridays do not come to help.
On Popcorn Day, the volunteers meet at Cascades Elementary at eight in the morning
in the cafeteria after dropping their children off at school. One volunteer begins to
heat up the popcorn maker and make popcorn while a second volunteer sets out
bags and a third sets out strips of tape along the side of the table. After classes
begin, the teacher selects two students to take the class mesh tote and the popcorn
money for the class to the cafeteria where the volunteers make the popcorn. Once
the students hand one of the volunteers the class tote and popcorn money, the
students are able to go back to class. The average popcorn bags requested by each
classroom is about 30 bags. The
Comparison Of The Dictatorship Of Big Brother And The...
The dictatorship of Big Brother and the American government, both use similar ways
to monitor their citizens, but they have different reasons for it. Big Brother wants to
closely monitor his citizens so they are obedient by fear and the American
government watches their citizens to protect them and their rights. They do this
through televisions, spies and surveillancecameras. In the beginning of the novel
1984, the reader is introduced to how the governmentunder the dictatorship of Big
Brother is administrated as well as how it runs its citizens. Not only are the people of
Oceania suppressed, but they are also audited through whatever means deemed
necessary by the government. They are even watched through their televisions.
Because of this the main character, Winston Smith, placed his television on a wall in
his house so Winston was able to remain outside the range of the telescreen, so far as
sight went. This is where Winston writes his qualms with the government down in a
diary. Furthermore, the CIA, has been said to have the capacity to break into our
everyday consumer electronics.... The USA Today article goes into further detail by
stating that, CIA hackers could break into iPhones, Android phones, PCs running
Microsoft Windows and Samsung smart TVs, and exploit the microphones inside
such electronics, (TVs are allegedly spying on you, Baig). It has been argued that
this is a violation of privacy, but others state that it is merely for protection. In

Ken Carter Essay
A good coaching style and personality are the foundation behind a successful coach.
In the movie Coach Carter do Ken Carter accept a new challenge, to become the new
head coach for an awful basketball team, that s having tremendous problems with
dreadful results, criminality and bullying. Carter changes the team, their structure and
the player s way of being, which ends up making them a successful team. But what is
the secret about his great success? And which coachingstrategies do he use to make
the team successful?
Just from the start Ken Carter showed how great his personality really is. Right when
he stepped into the basketball arena, he was faced with resistance from the players.
Especially after he introduced the new basketball contract. The special thing about his
personality is, that he was able to overcome these challenges and that he kept fighting
for a better future for the rest of the team.
Ken Carter treats everyone the same. When his son joined the team and was late for
training, he got the same punishment as the rest of the team. Moreover, he s not
creating a big power distance between him and the team. His showing his position as
the guy with the power over the team when it s necessary, but his keeping that to a
minimum. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Already at the first training, Ken Carter gave all players a contract that they had to
sign if they would like to play basketball on his team. This contract was nothing like
a normal basketball contract, because he gave them academically requirements they
had to pass if they would like to play on his team. In this way, Ken Carter motivates
them by making them work hard for their goals, which will motivate them to work
even harder for their basketball dreams. He s setting clear expectations and making
them stand up for what they believe in, which is a huge motivational
The External World Skeptic Argument
Skepticism argues that we do not know things about the external world. The External
World Skeptic argument holds that we cannot, in principle, know things about the
external world. Skeptical arguments aim to disprove the Standard Account of
Knowledge, which claims that we do in fact know things about the external world.
We come to know things through observation and experience, testimony, memory,
introspection, and reasoning (Epistemology Lecture Notes). Skeptics claim that all
of evidence we have for our knowledge are consistent with alternative hypotheses.
The Traditional Account of Knowledge requires a justified, true belief for
knowledge. Knowledge requires truth because we can only know things that are
true. The factivity of knowledge means that everything we know must be true.
Knowledge also calls for belief because you cannot know something you do not
accept as true. Finally, knowledge must be justifiable because you need a basis, or
evidence, for your true belief to count as knowledge. Skepticism objects the way we
come to know things and our knowledge of things by claiming that we do not actually
know things about the external world and that our evidence is consistent with
alternative skeptical hypotheses.
A skeptical hypothesis aims to show that the world is different externally from how
you view it internally. There are many different of skeptical hypotheses, such as the
Brain in the Vat Argument, the Cartesian Demon Hypothesis, the Evil Genius Theory
,
and so on.

UFP Technologies return on equity ratio for 2011 is 17% and 18% for 2010. This
ratio assesses risk by indicating how much a company earned for each dollar invested
by shareholders. UFP Technologies equity ratio of 17% is a profitable ratio especially
since investors consider a ratio over 15% to be a reasonable return. However, the
ratio decreased by 5.5% over last which may be upsetting to shareholders who are
looking for an increase in this ratio year after year and not a decrease.

United Natural Foods balance sheet for 2011 lists current assets of $8,444,492,000

Correlation Between Major Health Disparities And...
Sociologists propose that the similar correlation between major health disparities
and indicators of socio economic status can be explained by the concept of class.
Class is a social concept created by describing the unequal distribution of wealth,
power and resources. The concept proposes that it is a hierarchal system that
classifies people into lower, middle and upper class, however these terms can be used
interchangeably with others such as working and elite classes. The disparities in
health, mentioned above, and indicators of class include measures such as mortality,
morbidity and disability rates.
Individuals tend to affiliate themselves with a certain social class. Only 5% of
Australian s claim they have no class affiliation (Western and Baxter, 2011). Class
creates social divisions within a population. People who share classes also tend to
share similar life opportunities. Example of these are private or public health care,
fine dining restaurants or take away shops, private or public schools, and exclusive
or overcrowded suburbs.
An individual s set of social determinants strongly contributes to defining their
class, and vice versa, class aids in determining what types of social determinants an
individual will enjoy. Social determinants are the conditions in which people are
born, grow, live, work and age in. A person in a low social class would be expected
to be born into a family with a low socio economic status, live in a geographically
disadvantaged

Essay 3 Second Draft
A Review of Searching for Sugar Man The film Searching for Sugar Man focuses on
a legend folk music star, Sixto Rudriguez, who is more popular than Elvis in South
Africa but fails to gain fame in the United States. He knows nothing about his fame in
South Africa and has no idea how he is deified there. The whole story is told in a
linear way to present a dramatic journey of finding Rudriguez. It is not followed an
old fashioned rough start road to success dream come true style (Ning). It is a
display of two parallel worlds of a legend music hermit. An artist who regards art as
his ultimate faith in life remains unmoved either by gain or loss. In describing music
journey of Rudriguez, the director shoots several full length shots of Rudriguez s
wandering. The first wandering shot appears at the sixth minute, where a lonely
figure wanders passing by slums, CD shops, the sewer club and Detroit steel factory.
He was just a wandering spirit around the city ( Searching for Sugar Man ). This shot
indicates several elements of that time, including working class, minority nation, and
large company. The solitude night of Detroit and the decaying atmosphere of this city
are perfectly matched, which coordinates with Rudriguez s music as background
melody. A modest man of modest means, he quietly reflects on the success he now
enjoys a continent away from his Detroit home and the hard times in
The Four Parts Of The Brain s Function
The brain accounts for all thought and movement that the body processes. The brain
not only allows for interaction with others, but also allows for communication with
others. The brain is divided in about four major parts. Those parts include: the
cerebrum, cerebellum, limbic system, and brain stem.
The cerebrum is responsible for most of the brain s functions and is the largest
portion of the brain. The cerebrum is divided into a right and left hemisphere. It is
also divided into four sections: the temporal lobe, occipital lobe, parietal lobe, and the
frontal lobe. The frontal lobe controls problem solving, creative thought, judgment,
behavior, smell, and personality. The parietal lobe focuses on how we comprehend.
For example, how we comprehend
Taking a Look at Polylactic Acid Polymers
Introduction
Investigations into developing a more sustainable and eco friendly aspect of every
day life are becoming a major priority. Without such investigations or developments
in not only the food packaging sectors, but in many other major industries, this
planet along with its inhabitants will surely succumb to the human lust of
consumerism and ultimately the waste that such hunger produces. The
implantation of ecofriendly green packaging options would see a sharp decline in
the amount of waste that is produced each year and give the ability to recycle and
to produce new items from previously used packaging. In this report the team
discuss the concept of biodegradable plastics and their future implementation as
green food packaging alternatives to the current form of non eco friendly plastics
that are in existing use. Biodegradability refers to a composites ability to be
degraded by bacteria or other living organisms, plastics such as these can also be
susceptible to water and ultraviolet rays as sources of decomposition with this
aspect being discussed within the chapters of this report. As apart of this report,
team members assess the discovery, life cycle as well as the current or future
applications of three different types of bio plastic. Contained within is discussion on

Jonathan Swifts Satire
Recently, there has been an occurrence of a disturbing new trend worldwide: the
rise of the transgender community. These people are dangerous and should be kept
far away from your children at all costs. Their outrageous cross dressing habits are
a threat to gender secure people everywhere. Gender secure people are clearly the
only ones who can think logically and know exactly how to live their lives.
Transgenderpeople obviously have no idea what they are doing. Gendersecure people
know exactly what they are going to do the moment they are born. They are either
born to be a lawyer, a teacher, a politician, or whatever their DNA tells them to be.
They never have to find themselves, especially as teenagers, they know there is
nothing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Irony is most noticeable in how the author declares how transgender people have
no idea who they are and gender secure people do. As the majority of society
knows, every single person struggles with periods of self identity issues. Nobody
truly knows who they are supposed to be until they have spent some time sifting
through their own mind. Irony is also evident in the sentence Let s face it: do
people really believe that someone who cross dresses as the opposite sex can
actually be brave or strong? This sentence is ironic because it takes a great deal of
strength bravery for transgender people to express themselves and show the world
who they truly are. The satire also uses exaggeration, like in the writings of
Jonathan Swift. For example, the satire says, These cross dressing freaks are little
more than a circus sideshow attraction. This is exaggeration because although
transgender people do cross dress, they are not necessarily circus freaks . They are
real people who think and have feelings like those who are gender secure. These
people are not sideshow attraction freaks who exist exclusively for people s
entertainment. Sentences such as These people are dangerous and should be kept far
away from your children at all costs and Their
Houston Coaches Worksheet
The San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets are facing off in the second round
of the Western Conference playoffs. Amidst two of the top 3 MVP candidates
meeting in dramatic fashion, one of the key highlights of the series is the coaching
battle. Perhaps the greatest coach in the history of the NBA meets perhaps the
greatest offensive minded coach of all time. Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs
and Mike D Antoni of the Houston Rocketshave their teams poised to advance to the
Conference Finals and contend for a championship. How will their coaching styles
impact this series?

NBA play. His San Antonio Spurs have perfected a ball movement friendly

Throughout the series, we have seen the Spurs transition from keeping up with the
Rockets uptempo style, to enforcing their defensive prowess, and disrupting the
game plan of Houston. We have seen Houston, however, expand the floor and
knock down the long ball at a tremendous rate. Going forward, there are issues that
both coaches need to fix. For one, the free flowing Houston offense is slowly but
surely reverting back to heavy reliance on James Harden. D Antoni needs to
implement more of his bench, generate even more points inside the 3 point arc,
and find a way to contain Kawhi Leonard. For Pop, closing out the series will mean
exploiting Houston in every way possible. Without Nene, and an incompetent
Ryan Anderson on defense, the coaching staff needs to ingratiate Pau Gasol into
the offense more effectively. 4 points in 20 minutes for a future Hall of Famer, no
matter how old, is unacceptable, and like we ve seen with the great Eric Spoelstra
in Miami during the big 3 era, Pop has to dump the ball into Gasol to get him going
the way Spo did Chris Bosh. This way there is more cohesion on the offensive end
and more guys are in rhythm when slumps occur. The finale of this series will come
down to the coaching, and the coach who implements better strategy will be
Alfred Nobel And The Nobel Peace Prize
When the word peace comes to mind, one usually thinks about tranquility or absent
from violence but when learning about Alfred Nobel, one learns that the products
he invented were far from peaceful in some eyes. The Nobel Peace Prize was created
because Nobel left in his will that his fortune was to be given as awards in the areas
of: peace, chemistry, physiology, and literature. Alfred Nobelhimself started with
nothing and ended with a large fortune, and as for The Nobel Peace Prize, it has
evolved over the last century into new ways no one saw occurring in the future.
Alfred Nobel was born into bankruptcy in 1833 to Immanual Nobel and Andriette
Ahlsell. According to Nils Ringertz, Alfred s father was eventually able to provide a
first class education to his sons that taught them language, sciences, and literature. At
the end of his academics, Nobel was particularly fascinated with English literature
and poetry. His father was not pleased by his interests so he sent him overseas to
study chemical engineering. In Paris, France, Nobel met and worked with Ascanio
Sobrero, the chemist who had discovered nitroglycerin [a highly explosive
substance]. Ringertz states that Alfred Nobel became very interested in nitroglycerin
and how it could be put to practical use in construction work, with this new interest,
Nobel took the chance with the substance and worked with it for years. In his
experiments with nitroglycerin, many explosions occurred including one in 1864 that
The Correctional System
Corrections is defined as a governmental agency tasked with the responsibility of
overseeing the incarceration of persons convicted of crimes within a particular
jurisdiction . From my understanding this means that the correctional branch is tasked
with administering and enforcing the punishments given to the offenders. But like
most systems in the United States, the correctional branch had to be updated and
improved to follow the laws and ways of the modern world.
Corrections can be traced back to the European system when the American colonies
were ruled by Great Britain. Common law back then was a set of rules made to help
solve problems in society that were based off of decisions made by past judges. Most
punishment options during this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the forms is Parole which is a commonly used form of rehabilitation around
the world. This form is used as a way of helping offenders adjust to society and
their way of living. In exchange for good behavior the offender is allowed to make
a transition from incarceration to freedom During parole the offender is released
before his/her scheduled release and has to complete certain tasks in exchange for
the time they no longer have to serve. Some of these tasks include: finding a job,
refraining from drug and alcohol use, and refraining from speaking or attempting to
make contact with the parolees victim or victims. They are also required to check in
with their supervisor to ensure they are following the terms and conditions that came

The Scarlet Ibis Essay. quot; The Scarlet Ibisquot; by James Hurst Essay Sample - 743 Words - NerdySeal

  • 1. The Scarlet Ibis Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "The Scarlet Ibis" poses a considerable challenge, primarily due to the depth and complexity of the themes and characters within the narrative. This poignant short story by James Hurst delves into themes of pride, sacrifice, love, and the cruelty of nature, making it a rich but intricate subject for analysis. Firstly, one must navigate the intricate layers of symbolism embedded within the narrative, deciphering the significance of the titular scarlet ibis, the symbolism of the color red, and the parallels drawn between the bird and the protagonist, Doodle. Additionally, exploring the dynamics of the relationship between Doodle and his brother requires a nuanced understanding of familial bonds, guilt, and the desire for acceptance. Furthermore, crafting a compelling essay requires delving into the author's stylistic choices, such as his use of vivid imagery, foreshadowing, and flashback, which contribute to the story's emotional impact. Analyzing these elements demands a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of literary devices. Moreover, interpreting the story's broader thematic concerns, such as the consequences of pride and the inevitability of death, necessitates critical thinking and the ability to synthesize textual evidence to support one's arguments. In conclusion, composing an essay on "The Scarlet Ibis" entails grappling with complex themes, dissecting symbolism, analyzing literary techniques, and synthesizing ideas—all of which require careful consideration and scholarly rigor. • 4. Examples Of Clytemnestra In The Odyssey Clytemnestra s Odyssey In Robert Fagles introduction to Aeschylus s tragedy Agamemnon, he calls Clytemnestra a female Odysseus who has the right of retaliation on her side. Fagles comments on Clytemnestra s actions and comparison of her to Odysseus can be justified. In The Odyssey, Odysseus is seen as a very masculine authority figure whose character is defined by his strength, courage, and confidence. His most distinguishing trait, however, is his sharp intellect, which helps him out of some very tough situations he finds himself in throughout the epic. Similarly in Agamemnon, Clytemnestra is portrayed as a strong, independent, and quick witted character who defies every convention of the female gender role. Within the beginning of the tragedy , the watchman and the chorus describe Clytemnestra as, although being just a woman, a man in strength of purpose. This provides a clear distinction between gender roles but also presents Clytemnestra as having manly qualities. One such being her dominant leadership, a trait shared by Odysseus too, during her husband s absence. Fagles notion of Clytemnestra having the right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the rejection of this role that leads to many thinking of her as devilish and abnormal. Another factor that leads to her portrayal as a diabolic character is her cunningness, portrayed in her skillful manipulation of the language she uses. Clytemnestra s double meaning in her words which not only deceives Agamemnon s men but also sends a justification to the gods for what is to come can be seen as frightening as it is ingenious. Aeschylus portrayal of Clytemnestra can also be seen as negative as it is positive. She seeks justice for her daughter which many people can relate too. But at the same time is totally unrepentant for the act of

Brown coal (lignite) is a combustible sedimentary rock that is found in the layers under the earth. Brown coal is the lowest grade of coal and is soft due to the water content. Since brown coal is high in moisture and is combustive, it was uneconomical to transport, but currently available drying techniques makes it easier to transport. A question that has been raised over the years is whether power stations which use brown coal should be closed. This makes greenhouse gases responsible for the greenhouse effect which leads to global warming. Brown coal fuels 92 percent of generated electricity in Victoria. By closing down power stations that use brown coal, the total greenhouse gas emissions will decrease by a huge number. 3.Less carbon dioxide being produced into the air Australia s brown coal power stations are the highest carbon emitting power plants in the world. When carbon dioxide is released into the air, it traps the heat and warms the planet. Carbon dioxide currently represents 84 percent of all greenhouse gases, which totals to about 30 billion tons a year, produced by human activities. Not only does carbon dioxide affect the atmosphere, it has also made the oceans 30 percent more acidic and therefore affects a variety of sea organism. 4.Lower risk of hazardous mining While coal mining has the advantage of providing employment, cave ins and explosions are common in mining. This leaves people s lives in danger. There is also a risk to not only those working in the mines, but also those living close to dig areas. Constant exposure to chemicals can result in lung cancer, respiratory diseases, heart failure and low birth

  • 7. Dwight D. Eisenhower s Argumentative Analysis Eventually, another Dwight D Eisenhower like federal push will be necessary to modernize our ailing automotive infrastructure. Otherwise, the horrendous service we have today will keep us in a perpetual state of just below outrage. The problem, this time around, will be aesthetics. In 1956, the Federal Aid Act yielded essentially immediate ostensible results; you could see workers actually making roads where before there was mud and nothing else. When we modernize roads in the future, people will not be able to see much change. In fact, aside from widening some criminally narrow roads, and maybe a few additional routes where appropriate; before and after pictures will likely be pretty much identical. Again, Eisenhower left an omnichronistically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the amendments will be technological or educational in nature, basically people need to learn to drive better, and technology can help with and with more innovative things. Going back to the Google of it all, they are exposing a rather interesting hypocrisy that even they have not vocalized. We are being so stringent with the education of autonomous autos, without introspectively examining the educational system in place for human drivers, which is awful in the US. I have more on that, but that will be for another article. If people drove as well as autonomous autos have to before hitting public roads, they would not be needed to alleviate the existing congestion. The other (the first being autonomy) industry altering advancement is one that our current infrastructure not ready for; the extensive electrification of our automotive industry. Granted, Tesla has forced the country to conform to some degree, but it nascent at best. Honestly, it might even be a step in the wrong direction, in that even at peak efficiency, superchargers will always be massively inconvenient. The technology to make charging lanes is already theoretically possible, it only needs to be improved

The Effects Of Fuels On The Manufacturing Of Fuels Introduction | How it s all done In the present day humans are dependent on the manufacturing of fuels, as for many of the quotidian implements and machinery rely on fuel as a potency source. Just to expand on this idea, copious amounts of objects hinge on the forms of potential energy that fuels provide. Particular objects only function with one specific fuel, as there are many fuels that are only subjected to certain types of machinery as the machinery them self differ from each other. The smallest molecule formed in the Alkanes series is methane, as it only consist of one carbon atom to four hydrogen atoms, continuing along the series the number of carbon atoms increase proportional to the hydrogen atoms (Alkanes and Alkenes, the Chemistry Journey, the Fuse School Global Education, 2013). To comprise all the molecules together and describe their relationship a general formula for these series can be utilized, showing the differentiation of each molecule by a constant unit. Now, unsaturated molecules are categorised as alkenes, implicating there double covalent bond between the two carbon atoms. Comparing the molecules ethane and ethene, it is apparent the difference in their molecular structure. The saturated (ethane) molecules have a singular covalent bond with another carbon atom sharing one electron with each other (Alkanes and Alkenes, the Chemistry Journey, the Fuse School Global Education, 2013). Deconstructing the valence shells of the carbon atom, it is known that it has four possible electrons that can partake in the chemical bond. Therefore, if one electron is already occupied, by sharing with another carbon atom, the three electrons then bond with three hydrogen s, thus completing the valence shell and creating ethane. Ethene on the other hand, has a double covalent bond with another carbon atom, thus take up two of its four valence electrons, meaning only two hydrogen atoms can join the chemical bond.

He also talked about some of the important places that had an affect on the Renaissance. Along with how those places were able to affect the Renaissance. Mr.Green also states some reasoning to why he believes that the Renaissanceisn t a real event and how it never happened. Mr.Green says that the Renaissance was the rebirth after all the terrible things that happened throughout the dark ages of the 14th century Europe. They created most their profit from trading paper to the Ottomans. Another way they turned a profit was with the highly sought after Florentine textiles due to the textiles vibrant color that was dyed with alum. Now they could only get this chemical for the Ottomans until 1460. That was when the Pope s godson found alum in Italy and they started to mine the alum. The family in charge of the alum mining rights were the Medici. Another way the Muslims had an affect on the Renaissance was they supplied many of the literary works for the Italians to study. This was because the Muslims spent centuries working on Ancient Greek writings. They especially worked with the writings of apothem you and Aristotle. Aristotle was very important because he was the starting point for both the Muslims and the Christians. Focusing on The Princess s Tale chapter, it tells a story of a woman named Taihe, an imperial princess, who was chosen to fulfill a promise to a Uygur khagan. It was tradition to send off a princess to another kingdom in order to keep peace and form an alliance. She also carried perfumes for her body, her bath, and her clothes, some believed to be aphrodisiacs, and mixtures of aloewood and musk to make her breath smell sweet (p. 74) These detailed accounts showed that the kingdom was willing to use prized items from trade in order to showcase the princess. Not only did the court required the princess to look her best, but also needed her to be a skillful candidate. Taihe had to learn a new style of dance before leaving Chang an and had been trained to be an excellent horsewoman as she stayed at the palace. It can be concluded that the princesses are trained by the imperial court to only be married. A famous writing by a Chinese princess proved this to be true. She wrote My family married me to a lost horizon...Were I only a brown goose and could fly back home. (p. 81) Despite the low status of women in this era, their role in the society was needed to keep relations between kingdom friendly. As a khatun, Taihe had power in the Uygur court. Although women rarely were able to hold such a position, Taihe was allowed to establish her own quarters, and for almost a year she had the company of the Chinese ministers (p.86). The status Taihe gained through marriage displayed that the tradition held a lot of power. If such a tradition of exchanging princess

After narrowing down my options, I applied to volunteer at the Crystal Lake Public Library this past summer. Having to go in for an interview was a new experience for me, considering how I have never applied for a job. I believe that the exposure to the interview process did two things for me: first, it put me out of my comfort zone, and second, it taught me invaluable lessons about applying for future jobs and programs. This is because I am the kind of person who can get nervous easily, and I struggle to hide it sometimes. An interview is a type of situation that I would feel nervous in; however, I was able to overcome my fear and apply to the library anyways. Therefore, I learned what I should expect to be asked, and I understand how I should properly respond. Once I was accepted to the library s volunteer network, I was able to choose which department I would work for in order to serve the community. By volunteering at the library, I improved the Youth Services department, particularly by participating in the Adopt a Shelf program. One part of my job was to rearrange the books in the correct order when they got disorganized. This made it easier for parents and children to find the books, movies, and CDs they were looking for. Another task that I enjoyed was replacing the books to their proper location from the clean up cart. It is important for books to be on the shelves where they belong because otherwise it appears that books are not available. My favorite part of volunteering for the library, however, was getting to help kids pick out the books they were looking for. I remember many of the people I helped, but one of my fondest moments occurred on one of my first days. I was working in the junior fiction department, and there was a young girl there. She wanted to find a new series of books to read for the summer reading program. It was special to show her the novels that I read when I was her age, especially when she chose to start the Mother Daughter Book Club books: my favorite series in middle school. It was moments like that that made me proud to be a part of the Crystal Lake Public Library and their volunteer team. As a result of my work at the

There are three types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. In this presentation I plan to discuss a little about each of these cases as well as tell ways to prevent and treat them. The first most common skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma. This cancer develops in the basal or bottom layer of the epidermis, which is the top layer of the skin. The cause of this cancer is a gene called patched or PTC, which helps to control cell growth and development. If this gene is missing, defective, or damaged by ultra violet radiation, unrestrained cell proliferation may result. Basal cell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most important step you can make is to have any changing mole examined by a dermatologist so that any early melanoma can be removed while still in the curable stage. Heredity can also play a role since a person has an increased chance of developing melanoma if a family member has had melanoma. Warning signs of melanoma include: changes in the surface of a mole, scaliness, oozing, bleeding or the appearance of a new bump, spread of pigment from the border into surrounding skin, and change in sensation including itchiness, tenderness, or pain. Building A Waddell A-Truss Bridge Building a Waddell A Truss Bridge Introduction: Bridges have been used for thousands of years, beginning with natural formations, such as huge rock arches (Appendix A). The first bridges made by humans were most likely simple spans of wooden tree trunks laid across streams, or planks, such as rafts tied together (Gascoigne, 2001). These simple designs evolved over time, as new materials became available, to form the hundreds of bridges we use today. Some basic bridge designs include truss, arch, beam and suspension bridges. The most basic of these is the beam bridge (Appendix B1), which consists of a deck, spanning a relatively short distance, that is held up by a pair of abutments (vertical supports at either end). When weight is placed on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that it excessively designed, and can create excessive burdens on the cost, size and complexity (Sade, 2014). When designing large bridges, these three factors (excessive cost, size and complexity) regulate if a bridge is built, or if a different design is chosen. The Waddell A truss bridge (Appendix C) is a truss bridge designed by engineer John Alexander Low Waddell. It was built in 1898, as a short span railway bridge, and is one of only two bridges remaining which had the A truss design. Due to its high trusses, it is quite rigid in all directions, and it is easily erected as it has a simple design (Syazwi, 2013). These are some of the reasons why the Waddell a truss design was chosen. It is simple to create out of the materials which can be used (Manila folders) as it consists of beams and bars, as well as some gusset plates (Appendix C). Not only this, but the design allows it to hold quite a large amount of weight, in spite of the fact that a folder is not necessarily strong. However when folded, it may be surprising how much a small piece of card can actually hold. Manila folders were used to create this bridge because they are inexpensive, easy to cut bend and glue, have surprisingly predictable structural behaviour and can be used to build tubes, bars and strong

  • 25. Sartre Jean Paul Sartre was an existentialist French philosopher. In Being and Nothingness, he writes that Man is a useless passion. Sartre reaches this conclusion because man loses himself as man in order that God may be born. But the idea of God is contradictory and we lose ourselves in vain. Sartre is saying that, through the invention of God, man surrenders his freedom and individuality, and therefore, his humanity. In Existentialismis a Humanism, Sartre elaborates on this by claiming that humanity has no purpose and that there is no such thing as a human nature. In his rejection of a perfect God, Sartre raises the significance of the imperfect individual up to the empty space left in the absence of a divine master. Sartre asserts that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is despair, or a lack of hope. To hope would be pointless, because any factor outside of the individual s own influence should not be of concern. There is no God in Sartre s world, so there is no greater being that possesses the power to influence these factors. Because of this, Sartre adopts a stance similar to that of Epictetus, that one should only concern themselves with what is within his power to influence. As Sartre writes that things will be what men have chosen them to be. (Sartre, p 36). In this statement, Sartre both assigns responsibility to the human race for its actions and the choices made each individual human and raises another issue. If whatever will happen will happen, what is the purpose of trying to change that which is within our power? Sartre recognizes this problem and addresses it immediately by answering Man is nothing other than his own project. He exists only in so far as he realizes himself, therefore he is nothing more than the sum of his actions, nothing more than his life. (Sartre, p 37). In other words, action is the only way for an individual to truly exist. If one submits himself to quietism and complacency, he surrenders his humanity because he is surrendering his individuality and the ownership of his thoughts to more powerful people. This is exactly the same reason Sartre rejects the existence of a God and moves that man

The highly priced cost of travel made it difficult for the travelers to afford what was needed in order to survive the long and harsh trip. Also, the wagons were pulled by different kinds of animals such as horses, cows, mules and oxen. These animals were important to the emigrants as a survival tool, but they were not cheap. In the article Oregon Trail for Kids, the author states that the cost of the animal was about fifty dollars(Oregon Trail).Like the wagon cost, the animal was expensive. The Prospectors in Gold Rush also faced the same challenge. Instead of wagons and animals, they had to pay a certain amount of money to travel by boat. Although it was hard for them to pay money to travel, the emigrants were faced with more difficulty because they payed a higher amount. Therefore, the cost to travel for the emigrants on the Oregon trail was not cheap. As a result, it was difficult to
  • 34. Stress in the Emergency Department Stress, Burnout, and Compassion Fatigue in the Emergency Department Background Nursing is a field that many enter with the intention of helping and providing care to those with mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Lombardo Eyre, 2011). Many consider nursing as their calling; yet have not prepared themselves for the emotional and physical implications that come from having interpersonal relationships with families and patients. As nurses care for the ill, traumatized, and vulnerable patients in their charge, they inadvertently expose themselves to the pain, suffering, and trauma that their patients are experiencing on a regular basis. When the continued stress of this field is not dealt with, one can become a victim of the overwhelming need that surrounds them, which can result in burnout or compassion fatigue. This not only effects ones physical and emotional health, but also results in decreased productivity and job satisfaction, as well as increasing job turnover rate (Lombardo Eyre, 2011; Boyle, 2011). This concept is predominantly true of those working in the Emergency Department, and is actually where the context of compassion fatigue was first noted approximately two decades ago, but is also seen across the spectrum of health care providers in all areas (Boyle, 2011). This topic will be discussed further in the words following, as well as an exploration of ways to overcome compassion fatigue in the workplace. Definition of Terms In order to

Shiloh, By Bobbie Ann Mason Shiloh , by Bobbie Ann Mason, explores an interesting theme, the distinct parallel between the surface level of what the events of the story are, and the meaning underneath. This parallel is seen throughout the story, from the start when Leroy Moffitt is building craft kits for at first just to pass time, while Norma Jean is lifting weights and working at a Rexall drugstore for the same reason; To later on when Norma says she doesn t know what she s talking about and Leroy thinks that the way to saving his marriage is to come up with a last minute idea. The story engages the theme of the parallellevels through the unstable marriage of Leroy and Norma Jean. The theme of this parallel is shown overtly through the images, descriptions, and characterizations of the log cabins in the story, and of Shiloh. Interestingly, the characters and the world they live in are stuck on the surface, shown through how both Leroy and Norma Jean drift on subjects, and through the names in the story. Norma Jean and Leroy s marriage shows an insight on the theme in action because of how their lack of understanding the inner workings of marriage, which causes them to drift apart and eventually separate. One of the most important things in marriage is the ability to communicate, but neither of them are able to do so on a meaningful level. An example of this is when Norma Jean starts to explain why she wants to leave him, then as she walks away she takes back what she said, adding No, it

And then imagine rejecting that offer. This is an example of the many dilemmas that Charles Geschke, co founder of Adobe Systems faced. Founders are almost always facing many dilemmas with their startup company, whether they re straight from the get go or further down the line after the company have already established a name for themselves. That s exactly what happened in this case, when Hambrecht offered to get a consultant who would deal with the management of the business. The consultant also helped the co founders build a business plan. On reflection we know that as a company, Adobe Systemshas been very successful as they are still thriving now, almost twenty five years later. However, as with all startups, founders cannot accurately predict how successful they will be. Problems of different severity may arise, which could completely derail the startup company. So it is not uncommon for founders to feel scared or unsure about quitting their current job to start a company which may or may not work. This is another dilemma which Geschke had. He was in a stable job at a company called Xerox, who is also in the technology industry. In his words, he had this great job at Xerox, a nice big office overlooking the whole Bay Area . His parents also questioned his decision. This is one of the many risks founders have to assess before launching their startups. The risk dilemma also

There are multiple arguments for and against the implementation of this type of technology which makes the authorization for use a tough decision for officials. Proponents of the use of bodycams argue that if both the officer and suspects know that their actions are being recorded, then they will control their behavior as to not incriminate themselves. On the other side, opponents argue that policeofficers may be hesitant to take the necessary steps in some cases for fear of being reprimanded for their actions. An argument against the use of body cams is that the police may not comply with policies, and only record at certain times. My intended audience is young adults who are interested in gaining an insider s perspective into what goes on in the mind of a hijab wearer in today s society. The purpose of this piece is to explore different aspects of the hijab and factors that may influence a teenager to wear it. The idea I am developing is how different factors have influenced my journey with wearing the hijab. Language features I will use to create effects include: alliteration, simile, personification, rhetorical question and rhyming. Book Review Of Mike Davis s Planet Of Slums Mike Davis, in his Planet of Slums (New Left Review 2004)1, surely comes out swinging in his attempt to convince his readers that the IMF and the World Bank are managing the world into survivalist death camps known as the modern urban city, making some good arguments for sound judgements in the areas of political and/or business histories. Mike throws out all kinds of great big scary numbers, many of which seem to be quite a bit over exaggerated, for instance he predicted there would be at least 550 cities in the world with populations of over a million by 2015, whereas in 2016 there were only 512 of them as reported by the United Nations in their The World s Cities in 2016 Data Book2. But Mike also reported there were 400 of them when he wrote this article in 2004, whereas Mongabay reports there were but 336 of them in 20053. Many of the citypopulation numbers also seem quite high, at least as compared with Google and Wikipedia. He even more paranoidly claims that in many cases the actual populations of these slums are massively undercounted, and that many times they were undercounted deliberately by the heads of state themselves. All that being said, we are in agreement that we are living in a time of unprecedented human migration from

Relational cultural theory argues that the mother child relationship continually changes due to social context and time, and therapy can help children rework empathic failures and acute disconnections to question the absolute certainty of poor mothering. There were several statements that Jordan (2011) argued that I found particularly applicable to my life. The book chapter mentions that immigrant mothers tend to lose the support of a larger familynetwork, and this can affect mothering. There is also the mention of a desire for connection, and the lack of a connection can lead to an inability to be authentic in a relationship. The first point that I would like to mention is the idea that immigrant mothers lose support of an extended family network (Jordan, 2011). My personal experience can verify this my parents left their parents behind in Russia and rarely see them. The only extended family I have in the United States are one aunt, one uncle, and two cousins. I have not seen them since I was 14 years old. The impact of moving to a different country far from other family has great consequences. All you need is a weekend and a little planning to have all the beauty, tranquility and calming atmosphere you desire at an affordable price. Your first decision will be to find a spot for your garden. Most people choose spots where there is a good amount of shade in the afternoon and early evening. You will need at least five hours of good sunlight a day for your water plants since most water plants need direct sunlight to survive and be healthy. It s not recommended that you place your water gardendirectly under a shade tree with over hanging branches that will drop leaves into your pond, unless you like cleaning leaves out of it everyday. It may help to remember while choosing a spot for your pond that water is heavy, about 8 pounds per gallon, the addition of plants and fish will make things pretty heavy so be sure the area you choose will hold everything plus the pump. Some people like a variety of plants, fish or accessories in their ponds, while others only want two or three things, this all depends on you and what pleases your senses. Don t forget to place your garden close to an easily accessible water source since you will need to replace water levels and keep things fresh and stable everyday. Next, you will need to decide what type of enclosure you re going to build. Do not use chemically treated wood since it contains arsenic and is not eco friendly.

The External World Skeptic argument holds that we cannot, in principle, know things about the external world. Skeptical arguments aim to disprove the Standard Account of Knowledge, which claims that we do in fact know things about the external world. We come to know things through observation and experience, testimony, memory, introspection, and reasoning (Epistemology Lecture Notes). Skeptics claim that all of evidence we have for our knowledge are consistent with alternative hypotheses. The Traditional Account of Knowledge requires a justified, true belief for knowledge. Knowledge requires truth because we can only know things that are true. The factivity of knowledge means that everything we know must be true. Knowledge also calls for belief because you cannot know something you do not accept as true. Finally, knowledge must be justifiable because you need a basis, or evidence, for your true belief to count as knowledge. Skepticism objects the way we come to know things and our knowledge of things by claiming that we do not actually know things about the external world and that our evidence is consistent with alternative skeptical hypotheses. A skeptical hypothesis aims to show that the world is different externally from how you view it internally. There are many different of skeptical hypotheses, such as the Brain in the Vat Argument, the Cartesian Demon Hypothesis, the Evil Genius Theory , and so on.

  • 48. Correlation Between Major Health Disparities And... Sociologists propose that the similar correlation between major health disparities and indicators of socio economic status can be explained by the concept of class. Class is a social concept created by describing the unequal distribution of wealth, power and resources. The concept proposes that it is a hierarchal system that classifies people into lower, middle and upper class, however these terms can be used interchangeably with others such as working and elite classes. The disparities in health, mentioned above, and indicators of class include measures such as mortality, morbidity and disability rates. Individuals tend to affiliate themselves with a certain social class. Only 5% of Australian s claim they have no class affiliation (Western and Baxter, 2011). Class creates social divisions within a population. People who share classes also tend to share similar life opportunities. Example of these are private or public health care, fine dining restaurants or take away shops, private or public schools, and exclusive or overcrowded suburbs. An individual s set of social determinants strongly contributes to defining their class, and vice versa, class aids in determining what types of social determinants an individual will enjoy. Social determinants are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age in. A person in a low social class would be expected to be born into a family with a low socio economic status, live in a geographically disadvantaged

For one, the free flowing Houston offense is slowly but surely reverting back to heavy reliance on James Harden.
