1. Essay About Economic Crisis
Writing an essay on the topic of economic crisis is a challenging endeavor that demands a deep
understanding of economic principles, historical contexts, and current events. The complexity of
the subject matter requires thorough research, critical analysis, and the ability to synthesize
information from various sources.
First and foremost, delving into the intricacies of an economic crisis necessitates a
comprehensive understanding of economic theories and models. Exploring concepts such as
supply and demand, fiscal and monetary policies, market dynamics, and macroeconomic
indicators is essential to grasp the underlying causes and implications of a crisis.
Moreover, investigating the historical precedents of economic crises provides valuable insights
into recurring patterns, systemic vulnerabilities, and the efficacy of policy responses. Analyzing
case studies of past crises, ranging from the Great Depression to the 2008 financial meltdown,
offers valuable lessons for understanding the complexities of economic downturns.
Furthermore, examining the contemporary landscape of global economics entails staying abreast
of current events, policy developments, and geopolitical dynamics. The interconnected nature of
the modern economy means that factors such as trade tensions, technological disruptions, and
demographic shifts can significantly influence the trajectory of a crisis.
In addition to synthesizing theoretical frameworks and empirical evidence, crafting a compelling
essay on economic crisis demands critical thinking and analytical rigor. Evaluating conflicting
viewpoints, interrogating underlying assumptions, and presenting well-reasoned arguments are
integral aspects of constructing a coherent narrative.
Furthermore, communicating complex ideas effectively requires clarity of expression, logical
coherence, and persuasive rhetoric. Balancing the technical nuances of economic analysis with
accessible language and engaging prose is essential to ensure the essay resonates with a diverse
audience.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of economic crisis is a formidable task that
necessitates a multifaceted approach encompassing theoretical knowledge, historical insights,
current awareness, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. However, by embracing
the challenges inherent in the subject matter, one can illuminate the underlying dynamics,
implications, and potential solutions to mitigate the impact of crises on society.

2. What Role Did George Washington Play In The
Revolutionary War
Before Washington the colonies were struggling to keep afloat, and with fighting off
the british to establish a nation of their own they soon learned how hard it would be
without a strong support system and trade alliances.
After winning the American Revolution George Washington believed there must be a
higher ranking authority in the United States. The other founders developed the office
of President, in doing so they had George Washingtonin mind to serve in that
position and congress drafted him. Serving in this role is key for George Washington
as he played an important role in fighting for United States of America. Washington

He did however set the standards on how a president should act and how they
should rule for example; he decided upon the nation that the president should only
serve two terms in order to make it a fair democracy (now is the law), use of force
in order to enforce the law such as in the Whiskey Rebellion, calling to cabinet to
offer advice, neutrality in foreign affairs, first to make an inauguration speech, and
he came up with the title president in addressing him as leader. As the first President
he was held up to a higher standard to many people. Therefore everything that he did
set a powerful precedent. He supported a strong central government and in support of
his idea he helped set up an effective system of taxation. He set a precedent in his use
of the presidential veto in which only if he believed a law violated the constitution,
not just because of personal disagreements. This precedent lasted over 40 years until
Andrew Jackson assumed his position in office. While the current presidential cabinet
includes sixteen members, George Washington s cabinet included just four original
members: Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of Treasury Alexander
Hamilton, Secretary of War Henry Knox, and Attorney General Edmund Randolph.
Washington set the precedents for how these roles would interact with the presidency,
establishing the cabinet as the

typically based on a popular Western melody sung with Korean lyrics. The well

6. Possibility Of ADHD
More and more parents pay attention to the problems of child mental illness as the
rate of mental disorder increased in children. But studies have shown that Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), one of the most common mental disorder
in children and adolescents, might be overdiagnosed in younger children compared
to others in the same grade. The health news article Why a child s birth date predicts
whether they ll be medicated for ADHD that is published in The Sydney Morning
Herald discusses the ADHD diagnoses process and argues that the probability for the
youngest children in the class to get ADHD medication is significantly higher. The
study shows that children s immature behaviors may be misdiagnosed as symptoms
of ADHD. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there is some systematic uncertainty of the research study, the article
reveals the fact that children s immature behavior can be detected as signals rather
than noises, which in fact cause bias in the diagnosis judgment. As a result,
misdiagnosis or overdiagnosis in younger children may lead to errors such as false
positive and false negative. Detecting and distinguishing signal and noise may be
the most important when making an accurate diagnosis. Since the whole diagnosis
is mostly based on subjective factor, which is the behavior of the child, the accurate
detection by the pediatrician and a precise criteria of the diagnosis is required. In
order to decrease the misdiagnosis of ADHD on younger children, the
recommendation is that before making a diagnosis judgement, try to make a long
time observation on not just the children s behavior, but also other influential factors
such as family background as the child grow up. As the accuracy of the diagnosis
result improve, more children, whether they have ADHD or not, will have a much

she added projects or outings that brought an aspect of the fine arts into the lesson.
When she had the class read Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, she had the
students make one thousand Japanese origami paper cranes. During the class s study
of Haiku poetry, she had the class learn to do sum e brushstrokes of bamboo. By
combining art with the English curriculum, the students were better able to grasp the
topic and retained the lesson in a deeper, more meaningful way. She often did this

8. Increasing The Minimum Wage Essay
Increase of Minimum Wage Decreases Economic Woes An issue that has been
debating throughout centuries is whether or not America should increase the
minimum wage. This is an issue that has been arising to be relevant to pboeople all
over the nation. Researches have provided logical facts and statistics on how
increasing the minimum wagewould be the solution to America s debt. Increasing the
minimum wage has also been successful in several countries including Germany.
Studies have shown that decreasing the minimum wage is unlikely to solve any
economic woes. While when we increase the minimum wage it benefits the economy,
employment as well as dexterous people. Furthermore, increasing the minimum wage
comes with advantageous traits such as improving the economy. According to a study
from The Economist in 2016 conducted by Buttonwood states, some British
companies that voluntarily shifted to a higher living wage found that staff
absenteeism and turnover rates reduced, and productivity improved (Buttonwood).
Having a higher productivity means that the country will improve economically. One
of the most memorable historical events that America can relate to is the Great
Depression . President Franklin D. Roosevelt improved the economy by increasing
the minimum wage making the productivity rate rise showing a direct correlation. In
addition, another magazine article from Tharawat written by a staff writer, Marie

I ve gotten hundreds of letters each week about how much they appreciate that I ve

Marlee Matlin. Being deaf does not mean people can not hear anything at all,
sometimes they can still hear but there still labeled deaf (Biography.com ed).
People can be deaf from many different causes one of them is they are just born
with it ninety percent of deaf children are born with hearing parents. Another cause
is noise, if they work in a very loud factory or building, they have a more likely
chance of going deaf than a person who does not work with loud noises. People have
a ten percent chance of having a child with hearing loss or deafness. Hearing loss can
also come from an ear anatomy, an ear disorder, or certain diseases ( Facts ).
Deaf people are often labeled incorrectly. If they are born and lose most of their
hearing, they are hard of hearing (ASL). Marlee Matlin could hear when she was
born but when she was eighteen months old she lost one hundred percent of her
hearing in her right ear and then later destroyed all hearing in her left hear making
her legally deaf (Biography.com ed.). Deaf culture has its own language, stories, and
many other things. Being deaf does not stop People from being an everyday person

analysis on the architecture of the Fallingwater House. In her article, Perez begins
with detailed facts related to the construction of the building. She gives the name of

story to the building of the house which explains why the house was built. According

14. Oral Interview With Vanna Moore Essay
On September of 2016, I did an oral interview with Vanna Moore about her military
past and Vanna s ties to Texas. Over the whole interview I asked her questions about
her experience in Afghanistan and along the way I asked her questions about Texas.
To the best of my knowledge Vanna answered who are these people, these Texans ,
what do Texans tell us about America, and what she thought of Texas
. We talked about
how her military experience shaped her conceptions of Texas. In a setting such as
this one and her experiences combined she had moments where she seemed more
comfortable and opened, and other moments that were difficult to get through. After
this oral interview experience I feel as though I know how I could use oral histories
in my classroom. During the beginning of the interview I asked Vanna What do you
think the difference is between West Texas
and Texas from other regions of the state?
Her answer consisted of a lot of umms , but I think she answers the question Who
are these people, these Texans in this statement So, it s kinda like our own little
world. And. But the people, the people I don t know. I guess it s. The people are
like, are more like small town people, there umm. I guess more like hospitable.
Vanna describes West Texans as being hospitable and having small town behavior. I
should not have to explain small town behavior, because Hollywood has done a
wonderful job at giving us a great idea of what small town people act like. Also, in the

Blue Whales
As the largest known animal to have ever existed, the Blue Whale measures at 30
metres in length and weighs over 180 metric tons. This marine mammal belongs to
the sub order of baleen whales, in which filters are replaced by traditional teeth within
toothed whales. For decades, these majestic creatures have ruled the seas worldwide,
attracting tourists and scientists to take part in the peaceful nature of the Blue whale.
However, even the Blue whale, whom has been around for over 55 million years,
were placed on the WWF endangered list in 1970. Without support from both
Marine corporations as well as the general public, it is likely that the Blue Whale
will soon end its 55th million year of ruling the ocean waters of planet Earth.
The endangerment of the Blue whale has come as a result of not only direct harm
such as hunting, but also indirect factors like environmental changes and boat
collisions. However, none have drove the Blue whale to endangerment as much as
commercial whaling, which is still practiced today by three remaining countries:
Japan, Norway, and Iceland. Through various controversial studies on whether
whaling should be illegal word wide, one must constantly question the importance of
the Blue Whale for success of the planet s future.

16. Death In The Aeneid
The presentation of death in Vergil s work, The Aeneid, indicates the inescapable will
of the gods. Written as Roman ktisis poetry, or a foundation myth , Vergil wrote The
Aeneid to strengthen the political influence of Augustus and provide the citizens of
Rome with an ethnic identity (Mianowski 68). To fulfill this purpose, throughout the
poem, the themes and events Vergil presents are distinctly Roman. In The Aeneid
, the
scenes detailing Laocoon and his sons deaths, and Creusa s suicide, show that
Romans view the concept of death as a tool to serve the Gods purposes. Not only did
The Aeneid provide the Roman citizens with a common cultural bond, it also
influenced the image of the afterlife in other notable works.
Creusa s death, which closes Book 2 of The Aeneid, serves as a manifestation of the
will of the Gods. Her role in the epic, while small, is important, as she is the one who
convinces Aeneas to flee the burning city of Troy. Just as Troy was destined to fall,
the Gods also ordained Creusa to die. As the only female in The Aeneid to advocate
order and fate, she gives the reader a hint at the circumstances of ... Show more

As evidenced in The Aeneid through the scenes of Creusa s and Laocoon s deaths,
Vergil presents the Roman concept of death as a fundamental tool the Gods use to

matter the choices the characters make, fate is inescapable. This is demonstrated
through both the fall of Troy and Aeneas ultimate founding of Italy. Even if the
characters try to retain the last fragments of power and choose to die as they see

Ultimately, the Gods used death as a form of divine justice and a way to send their

This character began to appear in the 1930 s, at the same time that an audio
component was introduced into cinema. The audience was not however interested
in the voice of the vamp but rather for her appearance and sex appeal. She was
often depicted as exotic and sensual. As Tara Osorio writes, In early cinema,
Hollywood represented Latinas as ignorant, and valued their striking appearance and
figure rather than their intelligence, character, and personalities. (Tara Osorio) With
the introduction of musicals into cinema, there were many opportunities for vamp
roles. There were three particular women in early cinema who were infamous for
portraying the vamp character. Carmen Miranda, Dolores Del Rio, and Lupe Velez
were typecast in such roles and were seen in the majority of films produced in these
decades.
This character represented an image that was offensive and insulting to many. The
character did not have many diverse elements and was a rather one dimensional
figure. It was even more damaging when you take into account that the same role
was repeated, often by the same actress in a myriad of films. As one actress Rita
Moreno describes after she had played a similar spitfire character fourteen times in

21. Regionalism And Realism In A Wagner Matinee By Willa
Cather
Why would an author write a detailed work of a character stuck confronting a moral
dilemma, rather than that of an imaginary like story? Industrialization had many
cons, but started the evolution towards the Realistic Era in literature. Realism
influenced many authors styles of writing in the span of the era, because of the
honesty it generated. To name a Realist author: Willa Cather, who wrote A Wagner
Matinee focused on a different type of Realism, Regionalism. The literature of the
Realistic Era emphasized the world s problems at the time through the characters
thoughts and feelings.
The Industrial Revolution started towards the end of the 18th century and brought
Realism with it. As the Library of Congress indicates, the Industrial Revolution
began in Britain, but moved to the United States, and with it brought new
transportation, manufacturing, and communications. Less self sufficient family
homes came to be as factories began popping up around the country... this meant
the expansion of resources and trade for the U.S. Problems like child labor,
minuscule wages, dangerous working conditions, and atrocious living conditions
were created leading to the Progressive Era(N.D.). As observed by the University
of Georgia (2015), the problems caused by the Industrial Revolution would be
addressed by reforms. States tried to eliminate too much child labor by applying
laws on schooling hours for children. Also, they created new Boards of Health in
order to fix all the

At least that is what the storybook says, but in actuality, that is not how this story
goes. Shrek2 breaks the typical stereotype of princess animated films by showing
children a better definition of happily ever after, making Fiona a strong character,
and having a diverse character cast. Behind every good story, there is typically...

The father of quality evolution, the man who helped shape the world, William
Edwards Deming, was born on the month of October 14, 1900 in the city of Sioux,
Iowa. His family raised him in this city until they moved in Polk City, Iowa when
he was four years old. After two years of living in Polk City, the family again
moved to Cody, Wyoming. Then, There was a homestead program that gave out a
free land in 40 and 80 acres plots as part of a major irrigation project in Powell,
Wyoming. They had to move again, after two years, for this reason. At that time,
the first four years living at a tarpaper shack was a struggle for them to live life and
move on with their daily tasks because of the tough situation that they are facing.
Deming started working odd jobs as young boy in order for him to save up money for
the everyday expenses of the family.
In 1917, W. Deming was a student who attended the University of Wyoming(UW),
finishing engineering major. Few years after, he finally earned his Bachelor s
degree in 1921 by supporting himself and doing all kinds of work, such as janitorial
work, working in a dry cleaner, a soda jerk at a local drug store, and several other
jobs. After graduation, Deming stayed in UW to teach engineering while studying
mathematics at the same time. In 1922, he became an assistant professor in Physics
at the Colorado School of Mines. During summertime, he took classes at the
University of Colorado for his Master s degree in Mathematics and Physics that he

First, let me give you a little bit of background on the Renaissance era and why it was
a significant movement for the development of literature, architecture, and art. The
Renaissance originated in Italy but then spread to other European countries because of
its modern influence and change. It can be attributed to introducing artistic styles that
the world had never seen before therefore, its influence spread rapidly. Furthermore,
the movements that we ll be looking at involve the stylistic changes and influences of
architecture that occurred from the 15th to 17th centuries. We ll be interacting with
Renaissance sculptors and painters such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and
Andrea Palladio.

25. Essay about It s Time to End School Inequality
The right to an adequate education is a freedom every American child should have;
however, that is not the case. Standardized testing reveals that students living in an
economically stable neighborhood are more mentally developed than students living
in poverty stricken communities. The problem with the educational system is not
schools need to close and children need to be relocated to another one, it is inequality
within the educational system continues to widen due to the expansion of the
economic gap. One cannot fix issues of the broken system by closing public schools
and endorsing charter schoolproliferation. One must first start with the economic
situation of each school to ensure all students, teachers, and schools... Show more

Poverty stricken neighborhoods are underfunded, therefore, do not have all the
materials on hand to teach its students. When I was in school, I had a book for
every class so I may take it home and complete my homework. Some of Chicago s
Elementary Schools does not have books until mid year, closer to the end of the year.
The teacher did not fail the student nor did the school did not fail the student. The
blame belongs to the education system which failed the student, teacher, school, and
community. It is impossible for the teacher to teach the student without access to
material. It is impossible for the student to learn the material without access to it.
However, the student, teacher, school, and community is penalized for students not
doing well on standardized tests as Mr. Emmanuel decides to shut the school s doors
for good as he opens up the Charter Schools.
At one of Chicago s newest Noble Charter Schools, my daughter only had a History
and Spanish book. Math, Biology, Health, English, and Literature books were only
accessible at school during the class. Homework was given; however, she did not
have a book to review examples or explanations when she did not remember. All
she had was her notes, which lacked much of the material needed for
comprehension. She became frustrated as the coursework was not hard, but not able
to grab a book to do homework caused her to lose sleep as she

ten minutes before 9:30 dressed appropriately in a skirt and a dressy shirt, so that I
could follow and respect the instructions of the pamphlet that the church provided

could take notes quietly. Before the service started I looked over the papers and
booklet that the church provided to see what it included. The booklet included a
letter from the priest, readings for the week from the bible, hymnals from the Vatican,
mass intentions, prayer requests, stewardships, ministries, confirmations, and the
priests and deacons as follows Rev. Patrick Winslow, Rev. Jason Christian, Rev.

27. Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp ) Of A Nation
Gross Domestic Product
Gross domestic product (GDP) of a nation is comprised of four primary components.
These components; consumption, investment, government spending and net exports
are the measure of the monetary value of all the finished goods and services
produced within a country s borders in over a given period of time. This can be
broken down in any time frame but is normally used quarterly and annually. The
GDP can be calculated as; GDP (Y) = consumption (C) + investment (I) + government
spending (G) + net exports (NX) or Y=C+I+G+NX. The key word here is finished
goods and not all goods.
Household consumption, one of the four components of calculating the GDP of a
nation has a broad range of items included in it. With the exception of the cost of
buying a used house, most all durable and nondurable goods are measured within
this. The money a family spends on goods and services include everything from
haircuts to education. Durable goods would be vehicles for transportation and all
of the items that one buys to furnish a home. Items big and small regardless of
brand or cost are factored in this component. If one was to buy and new set of
appliances for a kitchen and a broom to sweep the floor, they are both used in this
calculation. If one was to save this money for a while longer it would make the
overall GDP lower than if the items were purchased. Education is often thought of as
an investment in ones future but it is considered consumption by means of an

1947 in response to Greek civil war and communist threat in Turkey, Truman asks
Congress to approve $400 million in aid to both countries, and they accept, sets a
precedent of US help to threaten states through economic means (Woolsey, G.
C.2008). The Truman Doctrine, effectively change U.S. foreign policy (Woolsey, G.
C. 2008). U.S initially adopted the policy to remove themselves from regional
conflicts not involving the United States directly, or from possible intervening in
distant conflicts. On March 31 the British Government announces military and

war against the Greek Communist Party (KayaoДџlu, B.2009). The U.S. Government
was under the impression the Soviet Union was supporting the Greek Communist
war, but In fact, Joseph Stalin the Soviet leader had deliberately stopped providing
assistance to the Greek Communists. The U.S did have concern that if the
Communists would prevail in the Greek civil war, then the Soviets would try to
influence Greek policy. It also looked like the Soviet was meddling in the affairs of
the Turkish and the Greek, and with the British withdrawing from assisting both
countries, Truman decided to request that Congress give support for the Greek and
Turkish Government against the Communists. Truman then requested $400

Hunter S. Tompson and Gonzo Journalism In the late sixties a young journalist and
free lance novelist named Hunter S. Thompson (HST) emerged with a new, crazed
and exaggerated brand of reporting. It was sooner or later referred to as Gonzo .
HST s own definition of gonzo has varied over the years, but he still maintains that
a good gonzo journalist needs the talent of a master journalist, the eye of an artist
/photographer and the heavy balls of an actor and that gonzo is a style of reporting
based on William Faulkner s idea that the best fiction is far more true than any kind
of journalism (Carroll, page 192). Gonzo journalism has also been referred to as

Steadman s work will be found on the title page to this essay). As the deadline for
the article approached, and with the article still incomplete, HST resorted to
ripping out pages of his notebook and sending them to the editors. What resulted
was the beginning of gonzo journalism. Many see gonzo journalism to be a
variation of a theme, which began with new journalism in the 60 s, led primarily
by author Tom Wolfe. (The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, etc.) New Journalism was
said to have broken all the rules of traditional journalism. The old style journalists
were supposed to take an objective point of view in their articles. The new
journalists were far more subjective, getting personally involved in the stories they
were reporting. New journalism really isn t new at all. Objectivity has been the
great myth of journalism. As hard as media sources try to be objective, they can
never truly achieve it. Everything from space limitations (a journalist must decide
what is and what is not important enough to fit into a column) to illustrations (this
gives readers a non objective picture in their head about the issue) infringe on
objectivity. New journalism and gonzo journalism alike pay no regard to the
objectivity laws of journalism and instead focus their works very little on the facts
but on the facts , as they

31. Different Methods Used For The Diagnosis Of The Cancer
In the medical field, currently various methods are used for the diagnosis of the
cancer. Mostly the cancer specialist uses the gland structure for the diagnosis of the
cancer patient. Hence the glandular structure observation is very important for the
cancer patient disease diagnosis. For the disease diagnosis purpose we required the
microscopic image of the gland. A single gland contains thousands of tissues and
cells in it, some of them may be overlapped to each other. In this paper we used the,
Saliency Map Method, for the segmentation of the input image given by the user.
Then we have used the Visual Signal To Noise Ratio (VSNR) Method, This method
is used to detect the overlapped cells and it also plays the important role to separate
the overlapped cells. The VSNR method is also helps to detect the various features
of the gland like area, eccentricity and the orientation of each cells present and detect
the total area covered by cells in that image. from all above observations the
pathologist can easily predict the disease.

patients and then these tissue samples are viewed under the microscope by

in such a manner as to avoid any appearance of U.S. intervention. The plan went on
to describe four points: 1) the creation of a responsible and unified Cuban
opposition to the Castro regime located outside of Cuba; 2) the development of a
means for mass communication to the Cuban people as part of a powerful
propaganda offensive; 3) the creation and development of a covert intelligence and
action organization within Cuba which would respond to the orders and directions of
the exile opposition; and 4) the development of a paramilitary force outside of Cuba
for future guerrilla action.
A few months later, in July of 1960, the Prime Minister of the Soviet Union, Nikita
Khrushchev, spoke of arming Cuba with rockets that would protect it from the U.S.
In response, President Eisenhower announced that the United States would not
tolerate the establishment of a regime dominated by international communism in the
western hemisphere. Richard Bissell, an aide to CIA director Allen Dulles,
described a meeting that took place in the White House on January 3, 1961, stating,
President [Eisenhower] seemed to be eager to take forceful action against Castro,
and breaking off diplomatic relations appeared to be his best card. He noted that he

35. Advertising Is An Visible Constant Presence Essay
Even when we re blissfully unaware, we are being persuaded. In today s media
driven world, advertising is an almost constant presence. It is on television, in the
films we watch, all over our social media accounts, and even plastered on the walls
of locations that we visit every day. Advertising is meant to market a product or
service to a consumer, utilizing mostly tactics of persuasionto do so. Because
advertisingis so continually present, companies must be more innovative than ever
with their persuasive methods. Depending on the product or service, these methods
vary but some of the popular ones include appealing to the internal attitudes of the
consumer by using strategic and repetitive methods for the delivery of the message to
appeal to the target audience. Virtually all industries do this, though a unique
example of persuasion in advertising is found in the medical and health industries; the
United States is one of the few countries that allows direct to consumer advertising for
pharmaceuticals. The healthcare industry has always had the ability to advertise but
with the new medical advertising, its budget for marketing has exploded as well.
The Food and Drug Administration, also commonly referred to as the FDA,
previously banned direct to consumer advertising for drug companies, but the
restriction was lifted in 1997 and a new age of medical advertising was born.
Previously, various medications and health services were found directly through a

addition, it deepens the psychological effect of suicide bomb attacks which is adding

Another element of the strategy is untwisting the spiral of violence . The classic

37. The Standardized Testing Nightmare Essay examples
As children grow up some of their frightful memories include a visit to the dentist or
to the first day in elementary school. Perhaps their greatest nightmare is standardized
testing. Since starting school as first graders students are taught to test in the United
States. In many cases students are placed in remedial classes or even held back
because of their low grades. Many do not realize that the students with low grades are
mainly students who are not good testtakers, and educators start to believe that these
students are low achievers. When educators do this, it leads the students to have
lower self esteem and encourages them to drop out of school later on. Students are
also forced to memorize information merely as facts... Show more content on

Under No Child Left Behind, standards and assessments rest tightly at the national
education policy, and remain as the strongest force on policy and practice. Despite the
importance of high stakes testing to improve America s public education system, there
have been numerous effects on schools, teachers, and even the students. Facing the
pressure of standardized tests, students try to cram too much information in a short
period of time. The memory capacity decreases from the stress of the one high
pressure test that can decide whether they well get held back and redo the entire year
over. When a student receive poor test results, this may also make them feel insecure
about their intelligence and encourage them to give up and possibly drop out of
school later on. It is evident that many students have weakened their ability to think
creatively, in the United States. Christopher Longo states that Inquiry based science
instruction has led the way in assisting students in the process of discovering
knowledge for themselves instead of simply being asked to recall information.
Inquiry learning promotes creativity by increasing motivation, wonderment, and
curiosity. The author proposes that inquiry is the key to enhancing creativity, while
still meeting the demands of standardize testing. (Longo) Inquiry based learning is a
form of teaching which involves the teacher as a guide on the side. In

Everything everywhere is constantly changing. People change, weather changes,
plans change, everything changes; you can t escape change. Two movies that really
illustrate the concept of change are Pleasantville and Back to the Future. In both of
these movies, the main characters Marty, David, and Jennifer are sent back into the
times of the 1950s and are faced with a world completely different from their own.
In Pleasantville, David and Jennifer get stuck in David s favourite television show
Pleasantville as the characters Bud and Mary Sue. Jennifer seems to want to stir
things up, creating change throughout Pleasantville, while David is doing all he can
to stop Jennifer from destroying their perfect world. On the other hand, in Back to the
Future, Marty gets sent back in timeto when his parents were his age. Unfortunately,
he runs into his parents, causing his mother to fall for him, supposedly interfering
with Marty s future. All of these main characters have to deal with a lot of change
the key concept these movies have in common. While Pleasantville and Back to the
Future both focus on the concept of time and change, both movies illustrate change
from different perspectives. These movies also have other similar concepts, such as
racism and the idea of the ideal family; however, they both differ by discussing other
social issues as well. Before traveling back in time to the 1950s, the characters in
both of the movies acted very similarly. In both Pleasantville

ideals. To permit the use of murderon someone who is a criminal destroys who they
are as a human. We all are entitled to life itself, because we are naturally granted it
when we come into existence. As Libertarians believe, specifically John Locke, we
all have the right to life, liberty, and property. We do not have the right to take away
these things from others, just as no one has the right to strip us of them either. These
same principles are found in our own Declaration of Independence, because it claims
that we have the right to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. The government
has the responsibility to protect these unalienable rights that we were granted from
birth.
There is the notion that the death penalty will steer people away from committing
crimes. In a report by the National Research Council,

46. Political Campaign Contributions Is Not A New Practice
Bribing government officials running for office by way of political campaign
contributions is not a new practice. A business donates a significant amount of
money to a politician who then gives them a government contract they want in
return whether it be monetary gain by way of the taxpayer or allowing them to
break laws for the sake of their business. These practices come out of the pockets of
taxpayers and many politicians serve jail time for them. There are several regulations
put in place by the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Boardand by individual states.
Recent studies in the past year, one done by Harvard University, have both suggested
and concluded that the United States of America is no longer a democracy, but an
oligarchy. An oligarchy is a form of government in which the richest people have
the most power. It dates back to the time of the first colonies. Part of the United
States being reclassified as an oligarchy may be due to the amount of government
bribes the nation has going on at the present time. In the last presidential election in
2012, there was talk about large corporations giving the political candidates
campaign contributions in order to buy them and it is a commonly discussed topic
as of this day. Bribes given to the government are common in underdeveloped
countries where the government is corrupt as this is an example of a corrupt

In his novel Les Miserables, the main character Jean Valjean is depicted as the
epitome of misery; his life is as unlucky as any man s life can ever be. But at the end
he becomes a successful, wealthy mayor and businessman. His job as a respectable
mayor and big factory owner, however, was not as fulfilling as it was well paying. He
felt uncomfortable with all the respect people paid to him because deep inside of
his heart he felt that he still belonged to his miserable, sinful past. He was not
happy with his job, having to live in a constant fear of being caught again as a
prisoner by Investigator Javert. He had to resolve his guilt by helping more needy
people; earning a lot of money is not all that there is to life. If one fails to find his job
fulfilling and has to keep living an unhappy kind of life, a well paying job is useless
and all the money he earns is futile.
The modern society is growing more and more materialistic. If we think about it, the
reason why people want to earn much money is to live a happy life, doing and
enjoying the things that money can provide. However, people often sacrifice their
own happiness in the process, to get the happiness that money gives. It is a sad
irony. If people put enough effort and only focus on what makes them feel happy,
money is just a factor that follows along; money should not be the ultimate purpose
of life, but just one of the means to achieve happiness. Indeed, a fulfilling job is more
important than a well paying

Divorce and Its Long term Effects Divorce is not only difficult for parents, but
even more difficult for the children. It can hit hard and fast but can also be built up
from long term damage and stress on the marriage. Children can view their parent
s divorce in multiple ways. They can visually see it, or they can hear it. Children
may also not view the divorce at all. Divorce can be sudden, confusing, and hidden.
It can be a quick and relieving process, or it could be slow and painful. The

marriage could be fought verbally or even physically. Hurtful words are thrown to

like their parents did. It is important to be able to have connections with different

3.6 What are the differences among short term, medium term, and long term
scheduling?
Answer:
The short term scheduler selects from the ready processes the next process to run
and gives it the CPU. The long term scheduler selects from the pool of processes
that are waiting on disk and loads the selected processes into memory. These
processes have not yet begun their execution. The medium term scheduler takes
processes that are currently in memory and selects those to be swapped out to disk.
These processes will be swapped back in at a later point. This is done to improve
process mix or because of memory requirements like overcommitted and needs to free
up memory.
A primary difference is in the frequency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Describe the undesirable circumstances that could arise from not enforcing either the
at most once or exactly once semantics. Describe possible uses for a mechanism that
had neither of these guarantees.
Answer: If an RPC mechanism could not support either the at most once or at least
once semantics, then the RPC server cannot guarantee that a remote procedure will
not be invoked multiple occurrences. Consider if a remote procedure were
withdrawing money from a bank account on a system that did not support these
semantics. It is possible that a single invocation of the remote procedure might lead
to multiple withdrawals on the server. For a system to support either of these
semantics generally requires the server maintain some form of client state such as
the timestamp described in the text. If a system were unable to support either of
these semantics, then such a system could only safely provide remote procedures
that do not alter data or provide time sensitive results. Using our bank account as an
example, we certainly require at most once or at least once semantics for performing
a withdrawal or deposit. However, an inquiry into an account balance or other

According to childhelp.org, there are over 3.6 million referrals made to child
protection agencies in US alone every year, involving over 6.6 million children
(Childhelp Child abuse stats and facts). That fact proves to show how many abused
children in the United States were actually recorded, imagine how many children
are not recorded, yet are really abused! In her article No Spanking, No Time outs,
No problem, Olga Khazan primarily uses a physiological approach and strong stance
on a controversial issue, arrangement and styleto enforce her belief that punishing
children will have no effect on the behaviour of children. Olga Khazan takes a strong
stance on a controversial issue and used different elements, such as her expository
writing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her use of key elements such as diction, the use of imagery, and the tone all are
huge factors in her style. Khazan uses the words stress and temperament to include
in her diction, how parents almost always have a reason for punishing children, in
their own eyes (Khazan No spanking, No problem ). Having lots of stress and
having a bad temperament can definitely be a reason behind parents punishing their
children, and Khazan using this diction in her article helps impact her physiological
approach by saying that parents own problems cause them to take it out on children
by punishing them for bad behaviour, and not really gaining anything from it.
Khazan also uses numerous examples of imagery in her article that supports the
style and her physiological approach by giving the audience a feel of a real life
situation in which they punish, or think of punishing their children. For example, in
her article she talks about being a mother who physically punishes her children
makes them less warm and affectionate , painting a picture in the audience s head of
a child and their mother becoming more distant in the future and appearing less
loveable due to the abuse the child once received (Khaz No Spanking, No Problem).
The tone of the author throughout the article proves very persuasive, as Khazan lists
of many disadvantages of disciplining children, and examples of the proper steps

51. The Between Sin And Purity
The organization of Inferno is categorized by the escalation of crimes, from failure
of the will, to transgressions of the mind; better described as the uncontrollable
versus the sins you knowingly commit. Canto V of Inferno is the most memorable,
and erotic, Canto throughout the Divine Comedy. In this Canto, the reader witnesses
the integration of sin with purity, symbolizing the duality of human nature. The
allegorizations represent a duality in mankind s freedom of choice; the choice to
live a pure life or to commit sin. According to Dante a soul has the ability to
intellectually reason. This ability means that each human is responsible for their
own actions and choices as they might reason to control their natural appetites that
lead to a sinful existence. The starving of one s lustful appetite is connected to the
ritualistic fasting, Lent, that Christians undertake in order to absolve themselves of
sin and thus seek a closer intimacy with God. There is heavy symbolism in Dante s
portrayal of Paolo and Francesca which reveals the dichotomy between sin and
purity that exists in Canto V. Imagery plays a crucial role when it comes to seeing
the duality of the second circle. The laws of contrapasso creates a parallel of crimes
one committed in life to match the nature of punishment found in death. The
atmosphere of the second circle is designed to be the punishment for those who
choose their emotion over reason. Like how these sinners acted on lust, renouncing
the reason
52. Gertrude And Ophelia Essay
Throughout history, women have traditionally played a miniscule part in almost all
aspects of life. Consequently, this has been reflected Shakespeare s Hamlet with the
existence of only two named female characters Gertrude, the queen of Denmark and
Ophelia, the prince s lover who are portrayed as delicate and helpless. Gertrudeand
Ophelia appear to be trivial, submissive heroines who fade into the background of a
patriarchal society then die tragically; however, upon further analysis, they are
clearly vital to the plot and flow of the play. Gertrude and Ophelia greatly influence
the male characters and abet the action in Hamlet.
Shakespeare presents Gertrude and Ophelia as traditional ladies of the Elizabethan
Era who are inferior and defined by their relationships with men. Gertrude and
Ophelia s characters are there to be used by and to serve men (Wagner 94). Women
were so easy to control because of their dependency on men. Hamlet s famous insult,
Frailty; thy name is woman, perfectly captures the sexist attitudes and gender bias in
Shakespeare s time (1.2.150). He claims that frailty and weakness is the hamartia of
all women.

soul (4.5.220 21). She is left to think for herself without any other source of
authority and commits suicide. This may be interpreted as proof of her
helplessness without a man s guidance. On the contrary, while Hamlet is still
struggling with his decision to be or not to be, Ophelia actively chooses not to be.
Ophelia took her own life, on her own terms (3.1.64). This makes a major impact in
Hamlet. Laertes, who already has wants to kill Hamlet for stabbing his father to
death, is driven over the edge by Ophelia s suicide. Her death is the catalyst for the
tragic ending of
53. The Seizure Of Nasser s Nationalization Of The Suez Canal
Nasser intended to use the revenue from the waterway to fund the Aswan Dam
project, but it would have taken Egypt 367 years to pay for the Dam from tolls
alone. The Canal only brought in a profit of $52 million and not the $100 million
profit that Nasser was claiming.
To the United States, the nationalization of the Canal was a convenient excuse for
what was to come. To Britain and France, who felt that they owned the historical
rights to the Suez Canal Company, the seizure of the canal meant that they would
lose their largest colonial vestige in the region. Because there were no legal route for
Britain and France to oppose Nasser s nationalization, the Egyptian President could
continue to manage the canal. British Prime Minister Anthony Eden was prepared to

feared that the conflict would catalyze into a direct confrontation between the
United States and the Soviet Union. During a policy meeting, Eisenhower stated, If
the Soviets attack the French and British directly, we would be in war, and we
would be justified in taking military action. A Third World War seemed imminent,
but Eisenhower was determined to deter further conflict. At the time of the crisis,
Britain was experiencing severe oil shortages and a near collapse of their banking
system as a result of their military involvement. A furious Eisenhower pressured his
Western ally to yield to Nasser by refusing to deliver oil or to offer any financial
support until all British forces were removed from the Suez
54. Summary Of The Guardian
The Guardian
For as long as time itself, humans have been weak and fragile, in need of Guardians
to watch over them. At birth, a child is given a Guardian, and for the remainder of
their short life, that human is protected and guided by an unseen force. These chosen
few were fated to watch life pass on without truly experiencing it. They are the lonely
sentinels in an everlasting night, watching over a person s dreams for seventy years
before watching over another for seventy more, and on and on and on through
eternity.
Life offers infinite happiness, and thus, those who d hunt for this feeling of pure joy
pay with misery Fate collecting the debt and sentencing debtors to death. Every
mortal has chosen to trade their bodies on earth simply for the short, sweet taste of
life. When that probationary period called mortal life concludes, it is the Guardian
that leads the soul out of the confines of the body and to that Afterlife we speculate
so much about. In regards to this Afterlife, there is not much that can be said. Not for
fear of instigating a war of religions, but more because it is unknown. The Guardians,
because of their immortality, are forbidden to enter that place. To understand
something is to have power over it, and the Guardians simply cannot comprehend the
Afterlife; thus they are like children fearing the dark because they cannot see what
lurks within. No one to enter the Afterlife can return to share its secrets with the
world. Thus, the only information we

In Hong Kong, about 40% of households do not have a computer, while 70% do not
use the Internet. Despite the rapid development and widespread use of information
and communication technologies in recent years, scholars have drawn attention to
the fact that access to these innovations is by no means even [1], and this has raised
concerns about an emerging information gap in a society based on income and
education. The issue of whether equitable access to information technologies and
services in the digitalage for the poor, the elderly and other disadvantaged groups is
currently a controversial topic. The purpose of this essay is to examine the
hypothesis that access to information in the digital age is unfair. I will examine two
refuting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the number of families with access to the Internet has risen sharply in the
past decade, a significant proportion of households are unable to afford the fees for
these services. [1] It would indicate that students from such households at an obvious
disadvantage. The students, unlike children from middle and upper income families,
do not have ready access to the specialized and up to date information and
entertainment provided by this new media. Thus, it reinforces the non digital
inequalities.
Thirdly, possibly the next most noteworthy refuting reason is that service provision
made possible by digital technologies would benefit the elderly, the poor and minority.
[4] The government can provide more tailored services for the public through
database driven technology. [5] It provides the opportunity for the public to obtain
services from companies and government without visiting the offices. It would allow
government and companies to offer 24 hours services [6], for example, individual can
make the booking in advance anywhere and anytime they need by putting health
service online.
The final argument is that replacing traditional face to face services with digital
ones place burdens on the elderly and the poor. In order to access to digital services,
the elderly have to give up their traditional ways of doing things and learn to
familiarize themselves at such old age with new technologies

Alcatraces was little more than a rock inhabited by a group of pelicans from which
the island bears its name (Alcatraces meaning pelicans in Spanish). However, in

Many prisoners worked as servants and maids for the many families that were
required to live on the island. A few were even commissioned to baby sit young
children who lived on the island. Flowers and shrubs were imported to help beautify
the rocky island. Many inmates, because of this, were allowed their own private
gardens. In the 1920 s prisoners were allowed to build a baseball field on which
different inmate teams played in their own uniforms. On Friday nights hundreds of
people would come from the mainland to see the exciting Alcatraz Fights which pitted
two inmates against each other in a boxing type match.
With the rise of organized crime in the 1930 s Alcatraz went through some
dramatic changes. The deteriorating cell house was refurbished with electronically
controlled cell doors, metal detectors, gun galleries which allowed guards an
elevated view of the entire cell house, permanently mounted tear gas canisters in
the ceiling of the dining hall, and tool proof bars. New cells nicked named Strip
cells and The Hole were built to house those inmates who required complete
isolation. A strict silence rule was instituted and those who violated it could be put
in isolation for up to eight days. The once merry days of baseball games and
gardening were over.
In 1963, due to the exorbent cost of running an island prison, Alcatraz was officially
closed. Arguments quickly arose over what to do with the eyesore that the prison had
become.

unfortunate events that followed my attacks on the moor were motivated by my
unstable physical and mental condition as a result of Mr. Stapleton s abusive

natured wife, he often neglected my own welfare and as a result starved me for
months at a time while I was kenneled on the island in the middle of the foul
