Design Architecture For A Multimodal System Based On...
In this chapter, we will show step by step how to design architecture for a multimodal system based on
complex event processing , we take an example of put that there system because its reference the base
of multimodal system.
4.1 Define the problem domain
Put That There the bolt system is a voice and gesture interactive system implemented at the
Architecture Machine Group at MIT. It allows a user to build and modify a graphical database on a
large Format video Display. The Goal of the research is a simple, conversational interface for
sophisticated computer interaction. Natural languages and gestures are used, while speech output
allows the system to query the user on ambiguous input. Bolt s System is primarily a voice interactive

This is particularly evident with connected speech recognizers, which are nonetheless more attractive
for many applica¬tions, as they allow more natural spoken input.
We use speech recognizers to transform speech to text using grammar below.
Grammar:
public = ()| (there) | (move) (that) | (delete)| (this); = create | put; = [a] (yellow | red | blue | black |
green); = square | triangle | circle | rectangle;
The equivalence of the grammar using graphs: Figure 9 Graphs describe the grammar
Commands:
Create or put : Create a blue square. Effect of complete utterance is a call to the create routine which
needs object to be created (with attributes) as well as x, y pointing input from mouse or eye Tribe.
Move : Move that there effect a displacement from old position the new one pointing by mouse or eye
Tribe too. Delete : Delete that this command used to deleting an object by pointing input.
There or this : those command help to extract the pointing input from mouse.
The grammars above help us to extract only what we want as speech and ignore the rest. After using
this grammar we extract sentence or words like:
Create a yellow square.
Put a red circle.

Abstract :
As no of patients that are suffering from cardiac diseases are increasing very rapidly, it is important
that remote ECG patient monitoring systems should be used as point of care (PoC) applications in
hospitals around the world. Therefore, huge amount of ECG signal collected by body sensor networks
from remote patients at homes will be transmitted along with other personal biological readings such
as blood pressure, temperature, glucose level, etc., and get treated accordingly by those remote patient
monitoring systems. It is very important that patient privacy is protected while data are being
transmitted over the public network as well as when they are stored in hospital servers . In this paper,
a one new technique has been introduced which is the hybrid of encryption and wavelet based ECG
steganography technique .
Encryption allows privacy and ECG steganography allows to hide one sensitive data into other
insensitive host thus guaranteeing the integration between ECG and the rest.

Cravendale Milk Essay
The Cravendale advert was created by Wieden and Kennedy commissioned by Belgian animators Pic
Pic and Andre to create this interesting series of stop motion ads for Arla, which are the makers of
Cravendale filtered milk. The series shows how these characters explore different places and have a
variety of different events to get their hands on Cravendale milk. The adverts were an instant hit and
delivered a 33% growth in sales for Cravendale, a filtered, and as such long lasting milk product. The
technique of animating toy figures that the older generation might recognise brings people a sense of
nostalgia as well as a charm. Seeing these old figurines that people will remember from their
childhood come alive in such a manner brings distinctive humour to the advert which the family can
enjoy. This advert is targeted at men of all classes because in the advert it s a man shopping while the
other figures are doing actions that kids would do. For example at the start you see the main character
pick up the heavy item of hay and put it in the trolley, and then he uses a spyglass to find the next
item. While this happens the other two characters are pushing the trolley and simply walking like
children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would then find an interest in the advert and want the product despite them not knowing what it
is, simply because the events in the advert made them chuckle. Also the sounds which are used
throughout the advert are seen as humorous; instead of the characters using full sentences they use
gestures or one word answers, the most distinctive word you hear in the advert is milk . However due
to the tones of their voices as the word milk is repeated the whole way through the commercial
children will remember this, so when shopping with their parents and they see milk they will
remember the advert and opt for

Overfishing Is A Serious Problem
Overfishing is a serious problem that often gets overlooked. In the article by Udy Bell, called
Overfishing: A Threat to Marine Biology, Bell talks about how only 1 percent of the world s oceans
are marine protected areas (MPAs). MPAs not only help protect oceans by allowing habitats to recover
from damage caused by overfishing but also allow fish to safely reproduce. Due to fishing fish faster
then they can reproduce, many species of fish are going endangered or already endangered of being
extinct. Species like whales, dungongs, sea cows, codfish, jewfish, sharks, and other marine
vertebrates are examples of fish that are being overfished. Overfishing was addressed at the World
Summit in Johannesburg, Africa in 2002 (Bell 17). At the World Summit, many experts in the field of
overfishing agreed that the most effective way to battle overfishing is by creating and establishing
more MPAs around the world. Although overfishing is a serious problem, there are ways to solve the
problem like creating Marine Protected Areas. Gutierrez 2
Humans are the ones responsible for the damage caused to our oceans by overfishing. MPAs are
essential to preserve and protect the biological diversity of the oceans (Kechington, Ward, Hegerl 7).
In The Benefits of Marine Protected Areas, by Richard Kenchington, Trevor Ward, and Eddie Hegerl,
talk about why MPAs are crucial to the prevention of overfishing. In a Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) study, over 70% of fish

The United States Health Care Public Safety Essay
Background The United States health care public safety net system largely provides healthcare
services to the uninsured and the under insured. However, this vulnerable population still cannot
access adequate care and compared to the privately insured population, the uninsured receive less
preventative and specialty health care services. The need for safety net providers to improve the
delivery and access to care has led to increased funding through the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act (PPACA) as well the expanded community health centers (CHCs) (HealthCare.gov, 2010).
Following the passage of the PPACA and increased federal support for the CHCs, the American public
health care system witnessed significant changes. Some of these changes include increased access to
healthcare, restructurings of private health coverages and containing Medicaid and Medicaid (). One
of the key provisions of the PPACA was to extend health care coverage to the uninsured population in
the country. Among the most affected are the safety net providers whose sole objective is to provide
healthcare services to the uninsured Americans. These providers of last resort have played a critical
role in ensuring that even the most vulnerable persons access basic healthcare. Nevertheless, as
previous research has shown, access to preventative and specialty care among the uninsured still
remains a challenge. Very few studies have identified how safety net providers have impacted

Italian Ambiguity
rthermore, the word companion is highly ambiguous as well. In Italian, as in English, companion
means a person you spend a lot of time with often because you are friends or because you are
travelling together ( http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/companion ) but the producer
here wanted to link the word to the drugs, so he or she changed the ordinary meaning of companion
and put the word into inverted commas. By doing this he or she crated ambiguity: who should the
reader abandon, the drugs or the people? What is more, in the light of the semantic and visual
antonymy above analysed, what is now the illocution? Is it get engaged and do not take drugs because

Why should it be preferred to the black, since the existence of good depends on the existence of bad,
and that of white on black? What if we put those teenagers in the upper part, and the couple below? It
would be odd, since the Italian Health Ministry would encourage people to take drugs, but we can go
one step further. What if we put those smiling, happy, well dressed couples down, in the drug taking
part, and instead the marginalized teenagers up? Probably it would still look odd, since the Italian
government, which acts from the white perspective, would warn people not to take drugs (but the
people portrayed do not look like druggie so bad companions to be abandoned, do they? They are still
white, well dressed, good looking people) and at the same time it would encourage the reader/receiver
to get engaged and create families, by showing multi ethnical couples. This is the shift of the meaning
that would probably be perceived, but as the image clearly shows this is not the case. The black is still
bad, the white is still good. The reader/receiver is here exposed to one of the current form of racial
stereotyping mentioned by Stuart Hall, more precisely the one of the

Happiness Is The Most Important Aspect Of The Mind
Buddhists believe happiness is being able to realize that no matter what you think about the
circumstances that define your life, you are already good, whole and complete. It s about recognizing
the inherit potential in your mind. Happiness is being awakened to the full potential of his own nature.
People have to change their mindset in order to achieve happiness for example someone who suffers
from anxiety may have a attack they can believe they are having a nervous breakdown or you can
confront your thoughts and fears and realize have that you re a having a nervous breakthrough. By
controlling your thoughts you are able to control your outcome of situations. Happiness is awareness
and the feeling of complete and whole. In order to achieve happiness one must first realize that every
sentient being that is, every creature endowed with even a very basic sense of awareness which can be
defined by three basic aspects or characteristics: body, speech and mind. It is important to know that
the mind is essence, is the most important aspect of all creatures that share the attribute of being
sentient. It s important to acknowledge the natural mind and that is capable of producing anything,
even ignorance of its own nature. But a compassionate mind is a diligent mind and with compassion
things such as starvation and people being slaughter would not exist.
Buddhists believe Natural peace is necessary to achieve happiness. Natural peace is a condition

Jose Marti Rhetorical Analysis
José Martí s Stance on the Government s Role in Ensuring Virtuosity
Through the writings of José Martí, a reader witnesses his strong love for justice, virtue, and duty. His
writings illustrate, with fantastic diction, Martí s profound distaste for those who are not virtuous;
specifically governments that are not virtuous. The theme that is consistently found in the work of
Martí is his belief that the government is ultimately responsible for the acts carried out by its citizens.
He believes that the government creates the monsters which it so desperately attempts to eliminate.
And, in multiple essays, Martí makes clear that he believes the only way to prevent the acts of these
monsters is by the government leading its citizens to a life of virtuosity through their own
demonstration of such character.
Martí follows the several key trials that he believes provide evidence for the government s need to
accept responsibility for what is done by its citizens. In, The trial of Guiteau, the reader learns about
Charles J. Guiteau who was convicted in the killing of President Garfield. In this essay, Martí is
adamant about ensuring that no one forgives the convicted murderer for his deed. In one sentence
Martí states, He does not arouse pity; he does not arouse forgiveness; he arouses no desire to excuse
him and goes on to say, There is no place for him in men s hearts, only in their hatred (95). Yet, the
irony of his statements becomes evident through the sentence immediately following the latter when
Martí explains that Reason demands that his [the convicted murderer] life be spared because he
believes that killing the monster is inadequate way of ending power s nature to grow monsters... (95).
Thus, while Martí strongly believes that no forgiveness should be shown to Guiteau, he still believes
that Guiteau deserves to live because his execution would not change the reason why it happened.
Instead, Martí believes that only the government can prevent what happened by changing what caused
it. Moreover, it could be loosely said that he does not believe the Guiteau is responsible for the death
of the president; instead he believes that the government under which Guiteau lived is responsible.
Ultimately, Martí

How Did Hatshepsut Contribute To Egypt
Hatshepsut was the first female Egyptian pharaoh. She was regarded as one of the most successful
female pharaohs; however, she had many weaknesses. Hatshepsut made many contributions to the
Egyptians. There are many reasons why she was regarded as one of the most famous pharaohs.
Hatshepsut was born in 1473 B.C., or in the New Kingdom. Her father s name was Thutmose I and
her mother s name was Ahmnes. Her brother s name was Anenemes. Hatshepsut married Thutmose II.
She had a daughter named Neferure. Sadly, she died in 1458 BC. According to King Tut One,
Hatshepsut was a very unique and intelligent individual. She had many qualities to make her a strong

As stated in ancient egypt online Hatshepsut is the most remembered for returning a high level of
economic prosperity to Egypt. She wore male clothing and she wore a false beard, most likely because
she wanted the people of Egypt to accept her as pharaoh and to maintain dominance. Hatshepsut s
reign was one of wealth, prosperity and peace. Some of her contributions and accomplishments were
expanding trade routes of Ancient Egypt as well as an expedition to the Land of Punt. Because of this
expedition the Land of Punt became a major trade partner with Egypt. She supplied Egypt with gold,
myrrh trees, ivory, ebony, and animal skins. Because of this the Egyptian economy flourished under
her rule. Hatshepsut put into motion a vast building and rebuilding program to repair damage done by
the invasion of the Hyksos. During her reign as Pharaoh she had built more buildings and monuments

Oprah Winfrey Is Not Just A Woman
Oprah Winfrey is not just a woman, she is an institution. The multi billion African American woman is
continuously ranked number one on the Forbes list of most powerful American celebrities. Why is she

American celebrities are primarily her high profile and the many mentions in the press and social
networks. Forbes states, Unlike most Forbes lists, which are based on earnings or net worth, our
annual Celebrity 100 takes a stab at measuring that most ephemeral of riches: fame (Forbes.com). This
paper will analyze Oprah Winfrey as an icon, the shining example of someone who made it as well as
why she is considered one of the most powerful women in the world.

Compare And Contrast Republicans And Democrats

not Adam and STEVE. Democrats also support abortion the gruesome murder of a fetus inside the
womb. I would love for a democrat to try and tell me that this doesn t sound like murder: The fetus
literally doubles in size between the 11th and 12th weeks of pregnancy. Soft cartilage hardens into
bone at 16 weeks, making the fetus too large and strong to pass through a suction tube. The D E
procedure begins by inserting laminaria a day or two before the abortion, opening the cervix wide to
accommodate the larger fetal size. The abortionist then both tears and cuts the fetus and uses the
vacuum machine to extract its remains. Because the skull is too large to be suctioned through the tube,
it must be crushed by forceps for removal. Pieces must be extracted very carefully because the jagged,
sharp pieces of the broken skull could easily

published in 2009 (Emerson, 2009). It is also written by an American author named Robert W.
Emerson. His book contains a variety of valuable chapters that give details on the principles of
business law. The book also provided useful ideas how tort responsibility can be take part of a lawsuit.
The most important thing in Emerson s book is useful details about the nature of business law
throughout most of his chapters. In this paper, I will discuss briefly about the topics in chapters
fourteen to eighteen.
In Emerson s book, chapter fourteen explains a great deal about the principles of business law. Its
main discussion is agency, which means a lawful relationship when someone interacts for someone
else (Emerson, 2009). An example of this would be a friend of mine, who works for me at my men s
clothing store. I am known as the owner of the business, while my friend assists me with any tasks that
needs to be done. Agency is very common in large companies, and they are important when it comes
to building relationship with other people. The reason why is because there is a level of trust and
confidence required. If an organization do not feel their agent is not suitable, then they can

The Potential Chemical Attack On American Soil
The concern of a potential chemical attack on American soil has always been in the minds of our
government and various first response agencies that would be charged to address the effects of such an
attack. Republican congressman, Robert Pittenger, expressed this concern regarding the volatile
situation in Syria and the dangers posed by that situation in regards to the proper accountability of
Syrian chemical weapons (Ordonez, 2013). Congressman Pittenger s fears came from the possibility
of further instability in Syria that would prevent the Syrian government from maintaining positive
control and accountability of its chemical weapons. If Bashar Assad were to lose control of his
country, terrorist organizations could potentially use such situation as an opportunity to acquire
chemical weapons and transport them to key locations in order to facilitate their use on American soil
(Ordonez, 2013). In this situation there are two elements: terrorist acquiring chemical weapons and
terrorists using chemical weapons on American soil. The first one is more likely to happen, while the
second one would be far more difficult as the weapons must make it from Syria to the United States.
Fear that terrorist could potentially get their hands on Syrian chemical weapons were elevated upon
news that Bashar Assad s military had used chemical weapons against civilians in Syria (Borger,
2013). These actions clearly crossed the red line that President Obama had drawn. Speculation on

Similarities Between Lincoln And Julius Caesar
Betrayal in the political world prevails and has considerably changed the course of world history. Both
Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln, two of the most prominent leaders, experienced such betrayal.
Despite this, the lives of these two men share more remarkable similarities. Through an analysis of
their historical context, their unique similarities and differences will be portrayed.
. Born to an aristocratic family around 100 B.C, Gaius Julius Caesar made many contributions to
Roman history. Caesar possessed a charming personality and an intelligent mind. As a well educated
man, he served as a skilled and successful politician, lawyer, and military general, conquering much
land for the Roman Empire. This connection with politics and the military gained him support and
popularity among the plebeians. In 59 BC., Caesar was elected consul with the help of Crassus, a
wealthy patrician, and another general, Pompey. Later, these three men formed an alliance called the

His preparations during his reign fueled future achievements for the commoners. According to
Plutarch, Caesar made preparations to provide merchantmen a safe as well as an easy passage to
Rome...convert marshes about Pomentinum and Setia into a plain which many thousands of men could
cultivate...construct harbours and roadsteads sufficient for the great fleets that would visit them.
Perhaps, the most providential effect he gave to the Roman people was tax alleviations and
realignment of the Roman calendar. These celebrated works won favor from the Roman plebeians,
however, filled the nobles of Rome with hate. Either envious of his fame or fear from his zealous
power, a group of conspirators ended his autocratic ways as the dictator. The main conspirators, Gaius
Cassius Longinus and Marcus Junius Brutus, assassinated Caesar in 44 BC with an artful

Family Marriage And Family
I am learning many things about family, marriage and relationships. God wants us to show
unconditional love towards others as he has showed us. Marriage takes commitment, according to
Balswick Balswick, (2014) continued commitment in modern marriage is contingent on happiness and
self fulfillment. In today s society it seems like convenience is more of a priority than commitment.
We must first be committed to our God who is wholeheartedly committed to us. In Psalms 37:5 it says
to commit your way to the lord trust in him, and he will act. Marriage is difficult, but it is easier when
we depend on God and not man. Some of the things I will discuss are family, marriage and what God
designed it for. I will also talk about my own experience with marriage and family. According to
Balswick Balswick (2014, Marriage is the process whereby a man and a woman marry and become
one, yet maintain their individual distinctiveness, (p. 4). This is a very sensitive topic for me seeing
that I have two failed marriages. When I walked down the aisle and made that commitment until death
do us part I did not realize that it would not be death but selfishness that pulled us part instead. God
designed marriage to provide, partnerships, spiritual intimacy and the ability to pursue God,
(Heffernan, 2014, p. 7). I now understand what intimacy is and how important it is in a relationship.
Many individuals including myself mistake intimacy as only being about sex. Balswick (2014)

Analysis Of As I Lay Dying
People are motivated and mostly driven by fears, desires, needs, wants and many times, conflicts of
which they are completely unaware. In the story, by William Faulkner, As I lay Dying, the Bundren
family suffers the loss of Addie Bundren a beloved wife and mother. In honoring Addie s last wish, the
Bundrens make the trip to Jefferson to bury her with her relatives. During the trip every thing that
could go wrong does. This story is told from plentiful points of view and reveals the completely
unstable psychological state of the Bundren family. Through a psychoanalytical approach of William
Faulkner s As I Lay Dying, readers will see that Faulkner uses characterization to demonstrate the
instability of the Bundren family.

Faulkner dropped out for the last time ( William Faulkner , 3). He picked up several odd jobs and
began to binge drink and had many stays at Wright s Sanatarium, a nursing home facility in Byhalia,

Clinical trials are essential for medical progress. Although new treatments are discovered through
trials, participating in research is different from receiving treatment. Yet, some human subjects fail to

reduce TM, focusing on communication is crucial. Understanding the perception that subjects within

This statement does not suggest that IRB s are not doing their jobs. Rather, it suggests that the
function of IRB s is to review, approve and at times have investigators rephrase/edit documents such
as the document of informed consent that will be given to subjects. IRB s should also focus on the
selection of subjects to make sure the appropriate subjects participate in the clinical trial. If the
document of informed consent or any other documents fail to meet requirements, the IRB should not
approve the study until changes are made. This includes failure to adequately describe certain
information such as the purpose of the research. While these are three possible ways to reduce TM, it
is also important to address whose responsibility it is to mitigate TM. I think that this responsibility
falls on both an institution s IRB and the principle investigator (PI) of the research study. I imply that

Factors Of An Authoritarian Government In The Movie V For...
People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people. In an
authoritarian government, the citizens listen to their director because they have this fear within them,
that if they do not do what is asked of them they will face consequences. But in reality, the citizens
have power over the government and the government is the one that is living in fear. At any moment
someone can threaten the government. This has been seen through terrorist acts such as 9/11 terror
attacks, and this has been demonstrated in the movie V For Vendetta. In the movie V For Vendetta, V
attempts to bring freedom and justice into a society that has been corrupt from having an authoritarian
government. He threatens the government and tells them a year in advance that he will blow up the
most important building in their city, but the government was not able to stop him. V wanted the city
of London, England to have freedom and rights, free press, and to no longer have to live in fake fear,
all three which are factors of an authoritarian government. In V For Vendetta, it is displayed that the
citizens have no rights and freedoms, the media is controlled by the government, and that the
government creates fear. The citizens or as called in an authoritarian government subjects of London
do not have any rights. They must follow the rules of the government, and if they do not there will be

Essay on Hanging 10 for Power Generation
Hanging 10 for Power Generation
There are many different ways to generate electricity. Wind, rivers, fire, and ocean are just a few
technologies that are in current use. In this paper it will narrow the focus to the different types of
ocean wave power generation.
Wave generated electricity is a fairly new concept. Heavy research started in the early sixties. People
have been trying to build effective wave machines for about two hundred years. Designing wave
machines can be difficult do to the nature of the ocean.
One of the primary set backs in designing wave technologies is the inconsistencies of the ocean. The

As the water level inside the chamber raises and lowers, the difference air pressure turns a low
resistance turbine, generating power. The turbine spins in one direction no matter if the air is pulling
or pushing. The collectors have been design in this manner to obtain the maximum output of power
out of the machines. Most of these wave collectors, also known as oscillating water columns are still
experimental. This device is regarded as the world most advanced wave to electricity generators. An
oscillating water column in Norway is being tested and can produce 500 kilowatts of electricity.
A Salter Duck , is another invention that has been developed to produce power from waves. This
machine is basically two large pontoons hinged together at their ends. The bobbing action of the
pontoons gives the mechanical advantage to drive the internal generator. This was the first invention
to receive wide spread use to make ocean generated power. The United States Coast Guard has been
using many of these to power generating tools for their navigation lights and audio transmitters.
Another type of energy the ocean has to offer is her tides. Generators used to harness power from
ocean tides are the cheapest to build. This is for the shear fact that most of the tide power stations are
connected to land. Due to logistics it is a lot easier to build objects closer to land than in the middle of
the ocean. These power stations can

Electricity Generation
Electricity generation is the process of creating electricity from other forms of energy.
The fundamental principles of electricity generation were discovered during the 1820s and early 1830s
by the British scientist Michael Faraday. His basic method is still used today: electricity is generated
by the movement of a loop of wire, or disc of copper between the poles of a magnet.[1]
For electric utilities, it is the first process in the delivery of electricity to consumers. The other
processes, electricity transmission, distribution, and electrical power storage and recovery using
pumped storage methods are normally carried out by the electrical power industry.

The Individual Vs. Society In Harrison Bergeron
Did you know the brain responds to stimuli in 386 milliseconds? The human brain is designed to save
the body first, and by extension every instinctual response a person has is in an effort to save the
individual. This natural occurrence in over seven billion organisms exemplifies Herbert Spencer s
survival of the fittest philosophy . The brain thinks alongside the same principles. The priority of the
brain is staying alive, not keeping others alive. The individual is more important than society due to
the fact that society currently doesn t believe in progress, but in sustained mediocrity and that
biologically, the epicenter of every human says to stay alive and worry about others once he or she is
safe.

By extension, society won t function well unless the wellness of the individual is a priority. This is
clearly shown in Harrison Bergeron. The most gifted members of society are handicapped in order to
create a dystopic equality. The population is not happy, and although it is not said what the outcome of
the society is, it is easy to predict that it will fall, as all societies do. The USA s society in Harrison
Bergeron is an example of a poor society failing. However, failure isn t limited to dystopic regimes.
For example, one of the most influential societies to live on Earth ( Ancient Rome) became successful
after making the individual a priority. Before Rome became the most successful republic in history, it
was an oligarchical monarchy known as Etrusca. However, Etrusca fell due lack of representation in
government, or by extension, a pro society government causing dissent and malcontent in the
population, leading to revolution and eventually developing into what is now known as Rome. This
discontent in the Etruscan society can be found throughout every society in the history of the human
race. The Republic of Rome became successful due to the importance placed on the individual,
making Rome unique to other societies. However, after the wars versus neighboring Carthage, Rome s
government became weak enough to allow Julius Caesar to rise to power, leading to the Roman
Empire. Although Rome had made the individual a priority orginally, it still wasn t enough. It is
therefore logistically impossible to create a utopian everlasting society. Due to this guaranteed failure,
the welfare of society isn t as important as the welfare of the

A submarine going into sea is naturally dangerous; combining it with a nuclear reactor is even more
dangerous. Reactor accidents produce large amounts of radioactivity that harm the environment and
the people within. The only two countries that have built a large number of nuclear submarines are the
United States and Russia. The data behind the nuclear reactor accidents of both countries shows that
Russia has had over ten major accidents while the United States has had a total of none. This fact is
not based upon the idea that the United States has more talented submariners than Russia, the
difference is the culture within the two submarine programs. Rickover recognized that safety was the
most important part of the nuclear power program and, therefore, changed the culture of that program:
He installed principles to ensure all nuclear trained Americans recognized their personal responsibility

It seems to me that, producers take a chunk of our history and rearrange it to satisfy and appeal to the

take the story of Titanic for instance. It wasn t until just recently that the tale of the doomed ship was

movie that caused people to become astonished and even obsessed with Titanic.
Sure, we have all heard about the historic tale. After all it is a part of our past, a part of our history. No

The American Dream
John s ship finally arrived in New York and he was exhausted. He and his family had to come to
America because of the potato famine that was happening back home in Ireland. The first thing he had
to do was find a place to live at with his family; he realized that the decent houses and apartments
were out of his budget. He only had money for the crowded and unhygienic apartments, if they could
be called that. After John picked a room out, he went to go look for jobs. While he was out looking for
work, he noticed people eyeing him strangely and signs saying No Irish Need Apply . The only type of
jobs he could get were the low paying ones. But he was desperate, so he took them. The workplace

Organisational cultural is in every sense just that, a culture. So not only does it act as an internal
binding force which keeps the organisation together and in harmony, but it also defines how an
individual should present himself and his organisation when he represents it. For example Price
Waterhouse Coopers takes pride in the ever increasing diversity of its workforce and works to instil
the idea of flexible but diligent working. This ideology could be considered as values forming part of
PWC s organisational culture. So whenever an employee comes in touch with a client these values
will be automatically be reflected in

For this assignment, a series of question was asked to an individual who frequently interacts with
children with some form of disability. The purpose of this assignment is to gain a deeper

Swimming South Documentary Review
Swimming South Documentary Review
Small, unnoticeable and lurking in the waters just off the coast of some of Queensland s most popular
beaches with the power to kill a person. Tracking further south than normal are the Irukandji jellyfish,
the focus of the 60 Minutes documentary Swimming South aired by Channel 9 on the January 19th
2017. Through first hand sting victim stories and evidence of the jellyfish being found further south,
the documentary presents to the viewer the immense threat these lethal jellyfish provide for
beachgoers and tourism to east coast Queensland beaches.
Irukandji jellyfish are a clear, very small jellyfish with a maximum body size of only twenty five
millimetres. These jellyfish can unleash an extremely painful sting that without treatment, can kill a
person. The Irukandji have been found off the coast of northern ... Show more content on

By providing footage of victims during the time they are feeling the pain and other victims recounting
the pain they felt, it provokes a concern in the viewers for their safety in the water at Queensland
beaches as they do not want to be stung and suffer the severe pain other victim has. This furthermore
leads them to see the issue as a major problem due to their safety being at risk. For the entirety of the
documentary, Irukandji jellyfish are represented in a very negative manner. Material excluded from
the documentary includes whether there are any benefits of having the Irukandji in the waters. These
jellyfish may have a crucial role in keeping their aquatic ecosystem functioning, however, any such
positive purposes are excluded throughout the documentary as this would weaken their intended
negative representation of the animal. Any people who believe Irukandji have any positive impact are
silenced as this would also weaken the documentaries negative perspective they are trying to convey

Bystander Effect
The Bystander Effect
Everybody wants to be a hero and to change the world. To make it a better place and make a
difference. So why then in the face of danger do we back down? Why do we just stand by as cruel
things happen to good people. Science has coined this term as the bystander effect. The bystander
effect is defined as, a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which individuals do not
offer any means of help to a victim when other people are present. You can see this effect in full in the
movie, The Hunger Games, as people just stand by and let the killing of innocent children happen year
after year.
Now this might seem like a crazy idea because in you mind if someone really needed help you would
always help. This is not always the case though. In the book, No One Helped : Kitty Genovese, New
York City, and the Myth of Urban Apathy, the author, Marcia Gallo, highlights the events that
happened that lead to the understanding of the event known as the Bystander Effect. It was because of
this event, that the term bystander effect was first used and brought to light not only to the scientific
community but also to the public. March 27, 1964 Kitty Genovese ... Show more content on

And more importantly, why does this happen. Well there are a number of different reasons that this
happens.in the book, Bystander Apathy and the Territorial Imperative, A.R Gillis and John Hagan
highlight the science behind the Bystander Effect. They highlight the finding that one of the reasons
that people fail to get involved is the idea of disorganization; the idea that in high stimuli situations,
such as city life, one s stress is increased and the need to blend in and not cause attention increases.
Another reason that people fail to get involved is because they do not know the other people involved.
It has been studied that if a friend was in trouble a person would feel socially accountable to help
rather than with a

Therefore, huge amount of ECG signal collected by body sensor networks from remote patients at homes will be transmitted along with other personal biological readings such as blood pressure, temperature, glucose level, etc., and get treated accordingly by those remote patient monitoring systems. It is very important that patient privacy is protected while data are being transmitted over the public network as well as when they are stored in hospital servers . In this paper, a one new technique has been introduced which is the hybrid of encryption and wavelet based ECG steganography technique . Encryption allows privacy and ECG steganography allows to hide one sensitive data into other insensitive host thus guaranteeing the integration between ECG and the rest. Keywords: ECG ,encryption ... • 4. Cravendale Milk Essay The Cravendale advert was created by Wieden and Kennedy commissioned by Belgian animators Pic Pic and Andre to create this interesting series of stop motion ads for Arla, which are the makers of Cravendale filtered milk. The series shows how these characters explore different places and have a variety of different events to get their hands on Cravendale milk. The adverts were an instant hit and delivered a 33% growth in sales for Cravendale, a filtered, and as such long lasting milk product. The technique of animating toy figures that the older generation might recognise brings people a sense of nostalgia as well as a charm. Seeing these old figurines that people will remember from their childhood come alive in such a manner brings distinctive humour to the advert which the family can enjoy. This advert is targeted at men of all classes because in the advert it s a man shopping while the other figures are doing actions that kids would do. For example at the start you see the main character pick up the heavy item of hay and put it in the trolley, and then he uses a spyglass to find the next item. While this happens the other two characters are pushing the trolley and simply walking like children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They would then find an interest in the advert and want the product despite them not knowing what it is, simply because the events in the advert made them chuckle. Also the sounds which are used throughout the advert are seen as humorous; instead of the characters using full sentences they use gestures or one word answers, the most distinctive word you hear in the advert is milk . However due to the tones of their voices as the word milk is repeated the whole way through the commercial children will remember this, so when shopping with their parents and they see milk they will remember the advert and opt for ... • 5. Overfishing Is A Serious Problem Overfishing is a serious problem that often gets overlooked. In the article by Udy Bell, called Overfishing: A Threat to Marine Biology, Bell talks about how only 1 percent of the world s oceans are marine protected areas (MPAs). MPAs not only help protect oceans by allowing habitats to recover from damage caused by overfishing but also allow fish to safely reproduce. Due to fishing fish faster then they can reproduce, many species of fish are going endangered or already endangered of being extinct. Species like whales, dungongs, sea cows, codfish, jewfish, sharks, and other marine vertebrates are examples of fish that are being overfished. Overfishing was addressed at the World Summit in Johannesburg, Africa in 2002 (Bell 17). At the World Summit, many experts in the field of overfishing agreed that the most effective way to battle overfishing is by creating and establishing more MPAs around the world. Although overfishing is a serious problem, there are ways to solve the problem like creating Marine Protected Areas. Gutierrez 2 Humans are the ones responsible for the damage caused to our oceans by overfishing. MPAs are essential to preserve and protect the biological diversity of the oceans (Kechington, Ward, Hegerl 7). In The Benefits of Marine Protected Areas, by Richard Kenchington, Trevor Ward, and Eddie Hegerl, talk about why MPAs are crucial to the prevention of overfishing. • 6. The United States Health Care Public Safety Essay Background The United States health care public safety net system largely provides healthcare services to the uninsured and the under insured. However, this vulnerable population still cannot access adequate care and compared to the privately insured population, the uninsured receive less preventative and specialty health care services. The need for safety net providers to improve the delivery and access to care has led to increased funding through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) as well the expanded community health centers (CHCs) (HealthCare.gov, 2010). Following the passage of the PPACA and increased federal support for the CHCs, the American public health care system witnessed significant changes. Some of these changes include increased access to healthcare, restructurings of private health coverages and containing Medicaid and Medicaid (). One of the key provisions of the PPACA was to extend health care coverage to the uninsured population in the country. Among the most affected are the safety net providers whose sole objective is to provide healthcare services to the uninsured Americans. These providers of last resort have played a critical role in ensuring that even the most vulnerable persons access basic healthcare. Nevertheless, as previous research has shown, access to preventative and specialty care among the uninsured still remains a challenge. Very few studies have identified how safety net providers have impacted maternal and infant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Italian, as in English, companion means a person you spend a lot of time with often because you are friends or because you are travelling together ( http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/companion ) but the producer here wanted to link the word to the drugs, so he or she changed the ordinary meaning of companion and put the word into inverted commas. What if we put those smiling, happy, well dressed couples down, in the drug taking part, and instead the marginalized teenagers up? Probably it would still look odd, since the Italian government, which acts from the white perspective, would warn people not to take drugs (but the people portrayed do not look like druggie so bad companions to be abandoned, do they? They are still white, well dressed, good looking people) and at the same time it would encourage the reader/receiver to get engaged and create families, by showing multi ethnical couples. This is the shift of the meaning that would probably be perceived, but as the image clearly shows this is not the case. The black is still bad, the white is still good. • 16. Jose Marti Rhetorical Analysis José Martí s Stance on the Government s Role in Ensuring Virtuosity Through the writings of José Martí, a reader witnesses his strong love for justice, virtue, and duty. His writings illustrate, with fantastic diction, Martí s profound distaste for those who are not virtuous; specifically governments that are not virtuous. The theme that is consistently found in the work of Martí is his belief that the government is ultimately responsible for the acts carried out by its citizens. He believes that the government creates the monsters which it so desperately attempts to eliminate. And, in multiple essays, Martí makes clear that he believes the only way to prevent the acts of these monsters is by the government leading its citizens to a life of virtuosity through their own demonstration of such character. Martí follows the several key trials that he believes provide evidence for the government s need to accept responsibility for what is done by its citizens. In, The trial of Guiteau, the reader learns about Charles J. Guiteau who was convicted in the killing of President Garfield. In this essay, Martí is adamant about ensuring that no one forgives the convicted murderer for his deed. In one sentence Martí states, He does not arouse pity; he does not arouse forgiveness; he arouses no desire to excuse him and goes on to say, There is no place for him in men s hearts, only in their hatred (95). Yet, the irony of his statements becomes evident through the sentence immediately following the latter when Martí explains that Reason demands that his [the convicted murderer] life be spared because he believes that killing the monster is inadequate way of ending power s nature to grow monsters... (95). Thus, while Martí strongly believes that no forgiveness should be shown to Guiteau, he still believes that Guiteau deserves to live because his execution would not change the reason why it happened. Instead, Martí believes that only the government can prevent what happened by changing what caused it. Moreover, it could be loosely said that he does not believe the Guiteau is responsible for the death of the president; instead he believes that the government under which Guiteau lived is responsible. Ultimately, Martí ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Potential Chemical Attack On American Soil The concern of a potential chemical attack on American soil has always been in the minds of our government and various first response agencies that would be charged to address the effects of such an attack. Republican congressman, Robert Pittenger, expressed this concern regarding the volatile situation in Syria and the dangers posed by that situation in regards to the proper accountability of Syrian chemical weapons (Ordonez, 2013). Congressman Pittenger s fears came from the possibility of further instability in Syria that would prevent the Syrian government from maintaining positive control and accountability of its chemical weapons. If Bashar Assad were to lose control of his country, terrorist organizations could potentially use such situation as an opportunity to acquire chemical weapons and transport them to key locations in order to facilitate their use on American soil (Ordonez, 2013). In this situation there are two elements: terrorist acquiring chemical weapons and terrorists using chemical weapons on American soil. The first one is more likely to happen, while the second one would be far more difficult as the weapons must make it from Syria to the United States. In an authoritarian government, the citizens listen to their director because they have this fear within them, that if they do not do what is asked of them they will face consequences. But in reality, the citizens have power over the government and the government is the one that is living in fear. At any moment someone can threaten the government. This has been seen through terrorist acts such as 9/11 terror attacks, and this has been demonstrated in the movie V For Vendetta. In the movie V For Vendetta, V attempts to bring freedom and justice into a society that has been corrupt from having an authoritarian government. Wind, rivers, fire, and ocean are just a few technologies that are in current use. In this paper it will narrow the focus to the different types of ocean wave power generation. Wave generated electricity is a fairly new concept. Heavy research started in the early sixties. People have been trying to build effective wave machines for about two hundred years. Designing wave machines can be difficult do to the nature of the ocean. One of the primary set backs in designing wave technologies is the inconsistencies of the ocean. As the water level inside the chamber raises and lowers, the difference air pressure turns a low resistance turbine, generating power. The turbine spins in one direction no matter if the air is pulling or pushing. The collectors have been design in this manner to obtain the maximum output of power out of the machines. Most of these wave collectors, also known as oscillating water columns are still experimental. This device is regarded as the world most advanced wave to electricity generators. An oscillating water column in Norway is being tested and can produce 500 kilowatts of electricity. A Salter Duck , is another invention that has been developed to produce power from waves. This machine is basically two large pontoons hinged together at their ends. The bobbing action of the pontoons gives the mechanical advantage to drive the internal generator. This was the first invention to receive wide spread use to make ocean generated power. The United States Coast Guard has been using many of these to power generating tools for their navigation lights and audio transmitters. Another type of energy the ocean has to offer is her tides. Generators used to harness power from ocean tides are the cheapest to build. This is for the shear fact that most of the tide power stations are connected to land. Due to logistics it is a lot easier to build objects closer to land than in the middle of the ocean. These power stations can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fundamental principles of electricity generation were discovered during the 1820s and early 1830s by the British scientist Michael Faraday. His basic method is still used today: electricity is generated by the movement of a loop of wire, or disc of copper between the poles of a magnet.[1] For electric utilities, it is the first process in the delivery of electricity to consumers. The other processes, electricity transmission, distribution, and electrical power storage and recovery using pumped storage methods are normally carried out by the electrical power industry. • 34. The Individual Vs. Society In Harrison Bergeron Did you know the brain responds to stimuli in 386 milliseconds? The human brain is designed to save the body first, and by extension every instinctual response a person has is in an effort to save the individual. This natural occurrence in over seven billion organisms exemplifies Herbert Spencer s survival of the fittest philosophy . The brain thinks alongside the same principles. The priority of the brain is staying alive, not keeping others alive. The individual is more important than society due to the fact that society currently doesn t believe in progress, but in sustained mediocrity and that biologically, the epicenter of every human says to stay alive and worry about others once he or she is safe. This is clearly shown in Harrison Bergeron. The most gifted members of society are handicapped in order to create a dystopic equality. The population is not happy, and although it is not said what the outcome of the society is, it is easy to predict that it will fall, as all societies do. The USA s society in Harrison Bergeron is an example of a poor society failing. However, failure isn t limited to dystopic regimes. For example, one of the most influential societies to live on Earth ( Ancient Rome) became successful after making the individual a priority. Before Rome became the most successful republic in history, it was an oligarchical monarchy known as Etrusca. However, Etrusca fell due lack of representation in government, or by extension, a pro society government causing dissent and malcontent in the population, leading to revolution and eventually developing into what is now known as Rome. This discontent in the Etruscan society can be found throughout every society in the history of the human race. The Republic of Rome became successful due to the importance placed on the individual, making Rome unique to other societies. However, after the wars versus neighboring Carthage, Rome s government became weak enough to allow Julius Caesar to rise to power, leading to the Roman Empire. Although Rome had made the individual a priority orginally, it still wasn t enough. It is therefore logistically impossible to create a utopian everlasting society. The data behind the nuclear reactor accidents of both countries shows that Russia has had over ten major accidents while the United States has had a total of none. This fact is not based upon the idea that the United States has more talented submariners than Russia, the difference is the culture within the two submarine programs. Rickover recognized that safety was the most important part of the nuclear power program and, therefore, changed the culture of that program: He installed principles to ensure all nuclear trained Americans recognized their personal responsibility to protect the public from any adverse effects of nuclear power. He then devoted the rest of his life to ensuring this cultural change was embedded into the nuclear submarine force. The first thing he had to do was find a place to live at with his family; he realized that the decent houses and apartments were out of his budget. He only had money for the crowded and unhygienic apartments, if they could be called that. After John picked a room out, he went to go look for jobs. This was the life of an Irish immigrant immigrating to America during the famine era. The Great Famine forced a countless number of Irish people to immigrate to the United States, where they suffered from poverty and discrimination. The bystander effect is defined as, a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which individuals do not offer any means of help to a victim when other people are present.
