Evaluation Of Abnormal Blood Culture Results
On November 7, 2014 Mr. Purgert was informed to return to the emergency room for an evaluation for
abnormal blood culture results. Dr. Janathan A. Goroza was the doctor on call that day. He reported
that Mr. Purgert was in the ER a few days earlier, and at this time he was complaining of tightness in
his chest when he coughs. In addition he also reported having a 101 fever the day before this visit,
however, now it is down to 99. Dr. Goroza ran tests on Mr. Purgerts blood and released him from the
hospital.
Mr. Purgert was asked to return to the hospital on November 8, 2014 because his blood cultures
showed signs of growth and the doctors believed that he had bacteremia. He was seen by Dr. Marry
Ellen Masleid, M.D., who noted that Mr. Purgert felt unwell and had a fever as high as 102.9. In
addition, he also felt pain in his chest and over his renal transplant site, and in his right abdomen.
While in the hospital on November 8, 2014 Mr. Purgert had a consultation with Dr. Ashmin R. Shetty,
D.O. to discuss his diagnoses of chronic kidney disease stage III. He noted that Mr. Purgert has a
history of PCKD which caused his kidneys to fail. Mr. Purgert got some central chest pain while
raking leaves on November 2, 2014. Because of this, he made an appointment with Dr. Mischel on
November 4, 2014 , who told him to go to the emergency department at the hospital, however, Mr.
Purgert thought that he would get better so he choose not to go. However, he did see his cardiologist

Jump Shot Revolution
Basketball s Jump Shot Revolution In the article Basketball s Jump Shot Revolution, the writer Shawn
Fury displays the main differences of when the jump shot was invented and what it has become today.
As stated in the opening paragraph it is mentioned that the jump shot has developed into what many
younger players cannot accomplish and that is a jump shot from long distance. The beginning of the
jump shot was intended to rise above the defender to release the ball where no player can block, but as
time went on the jump shot has become a long range toss up where there is no defender believing
there is even a shot to block. There have been many alterations to the jump shot over the years, but a

Spirit Bear Vs Kermode Bear
spirit bear/kermode bear
Spirit bears or Kermode bears and are found off the coast of the British Columbia in a rain forest. The
kermode bear is not a Polar bear or a albino. The Kermode bear is a rare white black bear. the bear was
named after Francis kermode.
Dr Kermit and Craig Newton studied the genetics of the white black bears. The white fur of the
Kermode bear is the result of a double recessive of the gene unique to this species.
Outside the british Columbia only about one in a million black bears are white. One of these bears,a
subadult male lived near Orr, minnesota in 1996.Hair samples showed him to be genetically different
from white Kermode bears. In 2004 a mother black bear with a white cub was discovered 300 miles
northwest of Beausejour near cedar lake,Named Maskwa this white cub carried a new mutation on the

The Matilda Effect
As writer, Virginia Woolf, once said, for most of history, anonymous was a woman. Elizabeth Gould
Davis pointed out in one of her books, that women take as great a risk of anonymity when they merge
their names with men in literary collaboration as when they merge in matrimony. According to
psychologist Steve Biko, the first weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Women s
history evaporates because our culture has a stake in erasing women from history and denying that
their participation or leadership ever existed.
The controversy surrounding women s involvement in science is great, and there have been countless
instances in history of women s discoveries and breakthroughs being credited to a man. So many
times, in fact, that there is a term specifically for this occurrence. Known as the Matilda effect , named
after women s rights activist Matilda Joslyn Gage, it refers to the process of the suppression of women
s contribution to science in regards to incorrect accreditation to a male counterpart for a woman s
research. It has seen a woman s scientific findings appropriated and Nobel Prizes awarded to male
colleagues and supervisors. Not only is this clearly unfair on every conceivable level, it highlights the

Angel Of The Last Judgment
Wassily Kandinsky s Angel of the Last Judgment was made during the pre war times in Europe.
Kandinsky s painting was included in the Merzbacher collection, a collection focused on how colour
had been used by European Artists in the 20th century. Kandinsky along with other Artists such as
Derain, Vlaminck and Braque were considered as Fauves meaning wild beasts a comment made by
Art critics who found their use of colour unnatural and aggressive. Along with Angel of the Last
Judgment, many paintings made around this time centralized around apocalyptic themes of chaos and
death. In the painting the viewer is caught in the middle of destruction with the piece s swirling arcs
that propel the eye across the canvas. Through prominent black lines an angelic silhouette is
implemented in the center of the painting. A sense of motion is conveyed with feathered strokes of the
figure s angelic wings. The upper borders are filled with warm reds and oranges with curved black
arcs interrupting and swirling around the piece. In the upper right corner of the painting immerges a
trumpet that seems to be screeching yellow and illuminates the whole painting. Four sharp like claw
marks cut through the silhouette and the painting itself. As your eyes travel down the image blues,

painting seem to signify stillness and death, while the white patches on the wings signify purity.

Helen Keller Hero
Helen Keller
The definition of heroine is is a woman, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding
achievements, or noble qualities ( Dictionary ). Helen Keller was a woman who was an important role
model, and trailblazer for the deaf and blind community. Even a person with all their senses has not
achieved as much she has. Helen Keller was a hero because she faced many challenges as a deaf blind
woman, she won different awards in her life, and made many contributions to the world. First reason
Helen Keller is a hero because she has faced many challenges, one of the first challenges she faced
was she blind and deaf. Helen wasn t always that way she became ill and became blind, deaf, and
mute (Biography). This did not stop her, though Helen Keller was the first deaf, blind person to earn a
college degree, and she graduated from Radcliffe college with honors in 1904 (American). Also at the
time Radcliffe was basically Harvard for women. Although she was blind, she has made over 13
books such as Light in My Darkness, Optimism, and The Story of My Life. This is just another reason

Collaboration in My Home Group
My Contribution Paper Collaboration consists of a few fundamental components such as the
willingness to listen and learn from each other, sharing one s own ideas and perspectives, having
respect for each other, working together to achieve a common goal, and being responsible for the self
and the whole group. A group has to collaborate in order to deliberate and achieve their common goal
because the three phases of deliberation: information gathering, decision making, and reflection, all
refer back to the ability to collaborate with each other. While working in a group, group members
should always work toward the goal of becoming a good leader, a person who makes the groups she or
he works in better (Practice Deliberation as Citizenship, Gene Edgar) by being a responsible and
respectful group member, and also being someone who is willing to go the extra miles to make sure
everyone in the group is feeling comfortable presenting their ideas in the group. While working in my
Home group this quarter, we have came up with a few norms, such as do not interrupt when someone
else is talking, be accepting of everyone s opinion, debate ideas not people, help each other, be
responsible for one s own assigned roles and tasks, give everyone a chance to talk and participate, be
flexible when doing group work, try to be on time, try to participate in each discussion topic, and be
prepared before class. All of these norms tied back to the fundamental components of collaboration

At this moment, the financial sector still attracts a lot of controversy both at the regulator and the
banker level. The regulators have been discussing on tighter banking rules. At the same time, the
banks have also been strengthening their own health with stricter supervision, one of which is to

Moreover, the State Bank of Vietnam‟s regulations, the bank‟s internal policies and annual reports as
well as the transaction office‟s business results also provide significant findings for the research. The
analysis of both primary and secondary data shows that this bank has been trying to adopt a close to
standard credit risk management framework with numerous published documents governing the day to
day credit activities. Some good points are a complete lending procedure or a standard internal credit
rating system SYMBOLS. However when it comes to actual operation, some aspects should be
considered, e.g. the staff training quality or the priority treatment to high value customers. Especially,
the high non performing loans at the transaction office and the non complied loss provision must be
reviewed and adjusted. These discoveries have led to several constructive improvement suggestions
for the case bank. Besides, recommendations for new research directions have also been made. Key

The Theory Of Evolution Of Human History And Modern Thinking
Since the dawn of time, the theory of evolution has played an important role in the process of
understanding human history and modern thinking. However, this theory didn t always have an
explicit term to clarify its meaning. Philosophers embraced the ideals of knowledge and enlightenment
of reason searching for answers as to better understand the origins of mankind and how it attributes to
what it means to be human. Alongside social progress and intellectual development, fascinating new
discoveries were made through observation and experimentation, and as a result, the revolutionary
realm of science emerged to become a timeless, universally systematic phenomenon of practiced
knowledge. Thus, it was during the beginning of this scientific era, when individuals like Jean
Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin incorporated the theory of evolution as an understanding of
progressive change and development of different species over time. And so, this fresh, scientific
phenomenon allowed great thinkers examine how the notion of evolution has an influence on society
from a philosophical standpoint. Although they express differing perspectives on the subject, Gilman,
Veblen, and Freud ultimately illuminate how evolution is denoted by the development of instincts and
affected by how they are either suppressed or acted upon to attain happiness.
As a female philosopher, Charlotte Perkins Gilman s Women Economics, argues that Darwin s
theories on the process of human evolution portray the

Value Of Foreign Travel
What is the value of foreign travel: Explain
Sometimes we travel to find who we really are, our connection to the past, the foreign, personal
enlightenment, to shed our personal baggage, to learn by sight, smell, touch and taste. In fact, some
say they find themselves in foreign travel and to mature and grow in ways that could not be perceived
before the journey started. Accordingly, we travel to have our senses enlightened by things like the
smell of fresh baked goods strolling through a small village in southern France, the taste and smell of
sweet mead in a Scottish monastery, to take a swim in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean or
camp in dense jungles of the Amazon. Still, things like this make a lifelong impact because our mind
can never forget the feelings of when we were there. As a result, Traveling is not just an experience or
something to do, it is something beautiful that educates, enlightens, humbles, heals us.
Travel brings experiences that cannot be had by reading or learning from others about the places
visited. In fact, many of us need to see, taste and touch to benefit from an experience. Frankly, it is not
enough to read about the Great wall of China, we need to touch the stones that were laid over a
thousand years ago and this small act can help us envision the sweat and blood put into this
tremendous monument. Furthermore, this need to interface with objects and places is just as needed
when it comes to people and experiencing other cultures. In this case, whether it is hearing the call to
prayer echoing through the evening sky as the sun begins to set in Istanbul or joining in the running of
the bulls on the crowded streets of Pamplona. Ultimately, these are unforgettable experience that can t
compare to learning or reading them, it gives us a beautiful glimpse of our world and forms a special
bond in embedded in our mind forever. Each of us has a desire to escape our normal life, to run away
and shed our daily stressful life for a short time, this is not only normal but also healthy.
Unfortunately, our mind can become like an overly wound toy clicking and clacking with broken
gears, it needs a refresh, and a great way is by traveling. Imagine, relaxing on a beach with few cares

Equality Is The Central Point Of Discussion
Equality In America Throughout the history of America, equality has always been the central point of
discussion in society. Many believe that America has reached the point of equality where everyone is
equal. Obviously this is not the case, but we have made great strides to reach a world where everyone
is equal. However, America has made great improvements in making equality relevant in todays
society. Although contemporary society has succeeded in making equality a reality, I claim that it has
also failed in addressing this theme appropriately. America has always been associated with the theme
and value of equality. America s history is thick and rich with the major theme of equality. For
instance, the abolishment of slavery, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
USAID quotes, If we can erase these inequities and put women on equal footing with men we know
we can unlock human potential on a transformational scale . The government agency s push towards
equality for women will not just benefit women, but many other people. For instance, USAID quotes,
just by empowering women farmers with the same access to land, new technologies and capital as
men, we can increase crop yields by as much as 30 percent and feed an additional 150 million people .
This agency is a work in progress, but there mindset is on equality for all, which is magnificent.
Contemporary society has been able to keep the value of equality relevant throughout America. The
strides made by society in order to reach equality for all genders is tremendous, yet society is still in
the dark over equality in other areas. While society in America has been able to keep the value of
equal germane, it has also failed in making this value a reality. Writer Joseph E. Stiglitz, author of the
Great Divide , quotes, the gap between aspiration and reality could hardly be wider . Stiglitz is
pessimistic about the value of equality in America and how it has been addressed. Stiglitz quotes,
Today, the United States has less equality of opportunity than almost any other advanced industrial

Four Theories Of The Press Essay
Four Theories of the press According to three professors of communication Fred S. Siebert, Theodore
Peterson and Wilbur Schramm there are four theories of the Press (Siebert, Peterson and Schramm,
1956).
Authoritarian Theory Authoritarian theory in mass media can be comprehended as media that operate
under either publicly or privately owned (Biagi, 2012). The authoritarian theory is origin from Ancient
Greece philosophy Plato (407 327 B.C) with the theory who thought that the State was safe only in the
hands of a few wise men (Peoi.org, 2015). Then, a brittish academician, Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679)
had argued that the power to maintain order was sovereign and individual objections were to be
ignored (Peoi.org, 2015). Another German thinker, Engel further reinforced the theory by stating that
freedom came into its supreme right only under Authoritarianism (Peoi.org, 2015). Authoritarian
theory concept of the press is developed in Europe after Gutenberg. Presses in Europe were privately
owned until the 1850s. However the aristocracy who governed the countries wanted some sort of
control on the financial and political power. The aristocracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Libertarian theory is under private sphere (Penning, 2006). The libertarian theory declares that,
everyone has the right to publish anything that he wants without fear of the constraints of licensing or
censorship. This theory is free from government control, even to the point of allowing attacks on
institution (Amira, 2012). In this theory, the Libertarian model functions as a watchdog to monitor
government policy. However, there are also limitations among the libertarian model. Limitations of
libertarian like journalism have been unwilling to recognize and censure colleagues who violate
professional standards. Sometimes, there will be standards overly abstract and ambiguous. Journalism
may pursue truth aggressively and present the news

Easy Rider Analysis
In Easy Rider, the mid 20th century intriguing drama directed by Dennis Hopper, we were drawn back
to 1969 to shed light on the influences of drugs, sex, and culture as the characters began to question
the American system in this counterculture movement. The counterculture movement provoked an
alternative lifestyle that came about during the Vietnam War. The tensions following the protests of
human inequalities embodying racial segregation and the frustration faced with the draft system
resulted in the Civil Rights Movement. This film, Easy Rider, helped to formulate and to transition
over to the New Hollywood slump era. With the experimentation of new drugs such as cocaine and
marijuana, people yearned to grasp a fresh perspective on life through the usage of these substances.
These hippies, especially the characters throughout the film, Billy and Wyatt, wanted to acquire
different forms of these perceptions so they were not viewed as inadequate within society. The essence
embodied throughout the film exhibits Billy and Wyatt aspiring to find freedom through Hopper s
usage of stylistic forms through film editing and cinematography. These stylistic forms do not work in
isolation, but rather work together to create the underlying message in the quest to find themselves.
Even from the very start of the film, formalist elements are exemplified throughout the camera
movement as being jerky and careless. While still alluring in the natural presence expressed
throughout the captivating views of scenery during the sequences of the cross country motorcycle ride.
Easy Rider s central theme is freedom; while Billy and Wyatt embark on an adventure throughout
America in pursuit to find a community to establish their roots. They traveled to many destinations
from Los Angeles to New Orleans to get that sense of belonging to join society harmoniously. They
essentially could not find what they were ultimately searching for. As the film initially starts, the
chopper detailed in authentic American features arrives at the La Contenta Bar, a rugged bar located in
California to participate in a drug deal. The inefficient and weak looking machines they drive, which
is a depicted as the American dream, exemplifies

are distinct types of car seats that should be used for recommended ages. The recommendations state
that parents should also check the seat s label to ensure that the child meets its height and weight
limits (NHTSA, n.d.). Children under the age of one should always use a rear facing seat placed in the
back seat of the vehicle (NHTSA, n.d.). These are used for small children due to their weak head,
neck, and spine, for which a rear facing car seat will provide increased protection (NHTSA, n.d.).
After the age of one and reaching the listed height and weight limits, children may move to a forward
facing car seat (NHTSA, n.d.). This seat is still positioned in the back of the car and anchored with the
seatbelt (NHTSA, n.d.). Forward facing car seats use a harness that distributes impact across the child
s body and utilize a tether that limits head movement. Again, once meeting the forward facing car
seats limits, recommended only at the age of four, children may move to a forward facing booster seat,
still placed in the back seat (NHTSA, n.d.). Booster seats proved extra height to the child so that the
seat belt is positioned properly over the child s strongest areas (NHTSA, n.d.). Children should be
kept in the booster seat as long as possible, no earlier than the age of eight. Using the booster seat as
long as possible will help ensure that the child properly fits a seat belt (NHTSA, n.d.). When
determining if seat belt positioning is correct for the child, ensure the lap belt is positioned across the
thighs, not the stomach, and that the shoulder belt crosses the shoulder and chest, not the neck or face
(NHTSA, n.d.). The intention of seat belts and safety car seats is to distribute any impacts from an
accident across the strongest parts of the body. Failure to follow these recommendations could result
in critical injury, such as a severe spinal injury in an

Opponents Of Gun Control In The United States
Opponents of gun control cite the Second Amendment as the most compelling defense for their
argument. Those who oppose strict gun regulation fear that gun control will infringe upon, law abiding
citizens Second Amendment right to bear arms (DiLascio). This is simply untrue. Article I, Section 8,
Clauses 15 and 16 of the Second Amendment state that the Constitution gives Congress the ability to
assemble a militia when national security is threatened and allows citizens to own firearms in order to
protect themselves from government oppression (Bowman and Newton). What one garners from this
information is that the Second Amendment was enacted in a purely military context. As Bowman

A CBS article by Robert Preidt, states, Compared to 22 other high income nations, the United States
gun related murder rate is 25 times higher. With such wide accessibility to powerful firearms,
Americans are at a much higher risk of gun violence. This statistic demonstrates that the United States
is far behind on gun legislation compared to other advanced nations in the world. AJ Willingham
states in his CNN article, From 1966 to 2012, nearly a third of the world s mass shootings took place
in the U.S. This is according to a 2016 study that used the FBI definition of mass shooting ... While
the U.S. has 5% of the world s population, it had 31% of all public mass shootings. The gun violence
epidemic in the United States is most notably highlighted in the statistic provided by Willingham.
Even though the United States has such a small population size compared to the rest of the world, the
gun violence rates are higher than any other nation. This demonstrates America s leniency in gun
legislation compared to other nations. England and Japan possess some of the tightest gun control
measures in the world while simultaneously featuring some of the lowest gun violence rates (Ballaro
and Finley). The correlation between strict gun control measures and gun related deaths is evident in
the statistics of other economic powers in the world, so why has the United States not taken measures
to strengthen gun legislation? Similarly, Beverly Ballaro states in her article, In 2008, Mayors Against
Illegal Guns, a bipartisan group of 300 US mayors, found that homicides from handguns were highest
in states with the most lenient gun laws. This statistic coincides with the previous data concerning
strict gun control measures and the correlation with gun related deaths. By increasing gun control, the

The Decline Of Alcoholic Beverages
The earliest alcoholic beverages may have been made from berries or and winemaking may have
originated in the wild grape regions of the Middle East. (Hanson, 1995). A variety of alcoholic
beverages have been used in China since prehistoric times China perceived alcohol as spiritual food
rather than a material food (Hanson, 1995). From the earliest recorded use of alcohol, drinking has
been a social activity, and both consumption and behavior have been subject to self imposed social

According to NIAAA, more than half of Americans have at least one close relative with a drinking

more likely to suffer physical and sexual abuse and neglect and to develop psychological problems.
Women who drink during pregnancy run a serious risk of damaging their fetuses. Relatives and friends

Sankofa Identity Essay
In his 1993 independent film Sankofa, Haile Gerima worked to dispel Hollywood s negative
stereotypes and interpretations of the black experience. Gerima s consciousness of American race
divide and prejudice helped him create some of the themes in Sankofa, the biggest being African
American s self identity. Gerima saw that in the United States, a person s place in society was based
on the color of his or her skin, thus creating a negative relationship between African American s and
their identities. Gerima explores the theme of black self identity in Sankofa through three characters,
Mona, Nunu, and Joe, using each one to show how the different levels of awareness of African culture
can affect a person s life.

Nunu is a slave, who unlike Shola, is not born into slavery, but rather taken from Africa and forced
into slavery. This gives Nunu a different belief about her identity than Mona. Nunu is a proud African
woman who wants to go back to Africa. On the plantation, she is seen as the spiritual center because
she is still spiritually connected to her homeland. On the plantation, Nunu tells African stories to Shola
and the other slaves, and even says that someday they will fly in the air and be home. Nunu s character
is Gerima s way of showing the importance of knowing and being proud of ones identity. Despite
being taken from her home, raped, and forced into slavery, Nunu never forgets who she is and where
she comes from, something many Africans, both then and now, forgot. Gerima included Nunu in
Sankofa to show to African American viewers, both young and old, the importance of always
remembering where their African heritage. Gerima argues that because his place in American society
is defined by skin color and that Hollywood makes African Americans out to be the other, Africans not
only need to be aware of their heritage, but also embrace and be proud of

It was found that much of the cause of psychological distress came from the lack of clarity and

teachers (Nerdrum et al., 2009).
Jacob, Itzchak, and Raz (2013) stated that many healthcare students perceive themselves as working
under a lot of pressure due to the demands of their programs. The students rated time demands of
courses and the amount of material covered the highest indicators of stress within the academic factor
(Jacob et al., 2013).
In Norway, a survey reported that college students were at a greater risk of developing mental health
problems than the general population (Bonsaksen, 2015). Female students were also twice as likely to
report mental health problems compared to their male counterparts (Bonsaksen, 2015). At the end of
the study, the male students had a higher satisfaction with the OT program, and had higher levels of
self esteem and self efficacy (Bonsaksen, 2015). Bonsaksen (2015) also notes that regarding the self
esteem measure, the students who spent most of their time on self study, acquired higher scores, which
suggests that the female students, who tended to have a lower self esteem and self efficacy, could
offset it by increasing self study.
Holinka s (2015) study was determined to support other findings of how stress negatively correlates
with college students life satisfaction. The analysis from her study

The Theoretical Approach Of Planning For Emergencies And...
This paper will briefly examine the theoretical approach to planning for emergencies and disasters
with an overview of the use of Worst Case Scenario Philosophy and speak to the importance on why
the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) can enhance individual organizations and the community to
more efficiently and effectively mitigate an emergency and disaster. It is a mutually shared
understanding that that we as a nation, an industry and the community need to be better prepared to
lessen the effects of crisis in order to protect our citizenry. Unfortunately it is easier said then made
actionable. While cooperation of agencies throughout the community is not guaranteed regardless of
the validity of the vulnerabilities, coordinated community and agency specific planning is required for
a complete mitigation and recovery for crisis response. This enables the entire community to address
worst case scenarios, obtain the buy in of all public private organizations to enable inter agency
cooperation, and facilitates clear communication by providing the responders the ability to understand
actions taking place, or that could take place, as a result of asset dependencies throughout all
operational periods of a disaster response. A mass causally response is one of the most significant
elements of crisis mitigation. Worst Case Scenario The reality of preparing for the management of
emergencies and disasters is a complex issue that must address the prevention, protection,

Summary Of Katie Hammil s Sense And Sensibility
Katie Hammil s play Sense and Sensibility, adapted from Jane Austen s novel of the same name, is
about reservedness and openness and how both behaviors can cause misunderstanding, but ultimately
result in the same outcome, which is revealed through the play s characterization of the two Dashwood
sisters, and the conflict between them, which is all highlighted by the lighting and costume design as
well as the acting in the Playmakers Repertory Company production. Elinor Dashwood (Shanelle
Nichole Leonard) and her sister Marianne Dashwood (Emily Bosco) are two people of very different
temperaments. Elinor is characterized as reserved, and she works to restrain her emotions for the sake
of decorum and because she believes it is unseemly. I WILL be mistress of myself, she exclaims as
Edward Ferrars (Rishan Dhamija) appears at the end of the play, in the scene Edward is Married (106).
Marianne, on the other hand, is a lot more open about her emotions, and is characterized as a more
lively and sensitive young woman. Elinor s personality causes her to bottle up her feelings toward
Edward, making her extremely unhappy, while Marianne s willingness to love Willoughby (Geoffrey
Culbertson) results in him taking advantage of her. The sisters s differences causes conflict between
them, as they cannot understand why the other acts as she does. Elinor desperately wishes her sister
would be more composed, while Marianne wishes Elinor would be more uninhibited. This often
leaves them at odds with one another, as seen in the end of the scene Brandon s Letter. Ultimately,
however, both sisters are able to find romance and a happy ending, and can finally begin to learn from
their mistakes and accept each other for how they are. Both young women s temperaments are
reflected in their costumes, designed by Olivera Gajic. Throughout the entirety of the play, Elinor
wears a dress of light blue, a color that implies ice and coldness, which mirrors her tendency to be
emotionally cold. In fact, Marianne even teases her sister in the scene Marianne and Elinor by
referring to her as Cold hearted Elinor! (14). Also, in the beginning of the play, Elinor wears a neck
kerchief, as if covering herself up both

The Slavery Of The United States
Before the 19th C, literature in the United States (US) was largely characterized on the basis of its
diverse nature. Using different forms of documentations such as travel accounts and journals, early
European explorers noted down their different experiences in the New World. Owing to the fact that
these new Explorers were very religious, most of their writings were defined by their religious
convictions especially the Puritan faith. In addition to these writings being shaped by religion, most of
the narratives revolved around the common phenomenon of slavery. It was the time when
emancipation was being advocated by many people especially in the North States which was anti
slavery. Most of the narratives in those times revolved around ... Show more content on

Before the coming of the Europeans, the natives held the best parts of the land and when these settlers
came, they took the fertile lands and most economical viable lands for themselves. Thus, the economy
of the US continued to grow while the state of the native Indians continued to worsen as they lost their
power and resources. It could not have been possible for the US to have developed in those
exponential terms without acquiring land from the natives at almost no cost. When the settlers set their
feet in the New World, they had one agenda which was to achieve economic growth of the new land at
all costs. It was then achieved at the expense of the Native Indians who had to be stripped of their land
and resources. In most of the narratives, there is a lot of Puritan religious agenda that is directly based
on the Bible as their religious authority. They base their arguments on the fact that God promises to
freely provide for his children through His grace. This kind of belief is not found within the Native
Indians religious belief system and thus they were viewed as Godless. In a way, the Western Christian
values largely despised on the religious system of the Indians which heightened the tensions between
the two communities. This textual exchange between factual and spiritual information within the

Compromise, without a doubt, plays one of the most important roles in moving a society forward. It
allows people to put conflicts behind them and to focus on the future and what it offers them. As seen
many times throughout history, problems and disputes can create barriers that prevent growth and
development of society. However, when people work together and make negotiations, they are able to
move onto more important things, rather than dwell on the past. For instance, the Camp David
Accords ended the war and constant tension between Egypt and Israel. The two countries had been at
odds since the foundation of Israel in the mid nineteen hundreds. Wars raged on between them for
decades without any solution, until Anwar Sadat was elected president of Egypt. His goal was to

Identity In Alice s Adventures In Wonderland
Lewis Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland creates a warped reality, causing each character s
identity to become confused. An exception to this confusion of identity is the Cheshire Cat, who
shows an uncanny awareness of his own madness, giving him considerable control over his presence
and allowing him to occasionally leave only a grin behind. Alice, contrarily, is strewn all over as she
loses herself in Wonderland. In Wonderland, all are mad, but to Alice this is preposterous, even as she
fails to explain who she is both to herself and to others. Carroll s juxtaposition of the Cheshire Cat and
Alice in their first meeting scene exaggerates Alice s insecure identity and its development throughout
her adventures in Wonderland. In Alice s Adventures, Alice falls down a rabbit hole for what seems
like forever, while bits and pieces of her identity remain trapped at the entrance. After this fall, ...

while, even if it is retained for a short period because people know what the world is, even when that
knowledge is lost, people will retain a certain understanding of the world before they unlearned it.
Some say Knowledge is a wonderful tool in life, but if a man acquires knowledge, but soon unlearns
the knowledge yet understands how the world should be, and then loses it, ignorance is bliss so the
man does not know how people treat them in bad ways, and it shall stay that way for his/her benefit. .

Tuberculosis As A Contagious Disease
What is Tuberculosis? Tuberculosis, TB for short, is an ancient disease that has been around even
before the first recorded disease in the history. This disease can be found in Egyptian mummies from

Although some of the some scientist back in 1719, Benjamin Martin wrote a book called A New
Theory of Consumption, More Especially of Phthisis or Consumption of the Lungs, in this book he
noted the likelihood of the tuberculosis contagion stating that close proximity to someone that has this
disease causes the other person to acquired it (Reichman Hershfield, 2000). Which in a way, Benjamin
Martin, is right on point. Tuberculosis is an airborne disease, which means its main mode of
transmission is through the air. Animals such as cattle can carrier the bacteria, but most cause human

tuberculosis will be able to infect the air around him/her by sneezing, coughing, speaking or even

thus people that are in close proximity or just happen to walk by and breathe in the bacteria will
become infected. Unlike any other contagious disease, TB is not spread by shaking someone s hand,
sharing food or drink, touching bed lines or toilet seat, sharing personal items and kissing. But not

Arnie Plagiarism
Hi Everyone,
Regarding the College Paper Case Study, I have to say that Reggie and Arnie share almost the same
amount of responsibility, they were both committing plagiarisms. Furthermore, I think that Arnie was
more guilty because he was ought not just to warn Reggie about the consequences, but also he was
responsible for reporting Reggie s behavior as stated in the UoPeople Course Catalog (2017), Students
encountering suspected cases of cheating should discreetly report the violator to their Course
Instructor (p. 139).
What do I think about plagiarism? well, it is definitely a problem which is present in many aspects of
our life these days. For example, in my field of work, I have seen programmers delivered solutions
that they don t even understand or are capable of improving, simply because what they did was just to
copy and paste their code from a forum. You may argue that it is code, and it could look really similar
one to another, but the truth is that code means ideas, and those could also be plagiarised. Sadly this is
a problem which is not getting any better, especially nowadays where people are able to copy images,
music, and videos from any source through the internet basically without any effort. ... Show more

What I would do or recommend to avoid it, is this:
Always take notes of the source of every material you use for your papers in case you need to cite and
reference any of them.
Use tools like an online plagiarism checker, because you may write something you read a long time
ago and that also needs to be cited and referenced.
If you are not sure you are plagiarising, better cite and reference the material to be sure.

Elizabeth Gould Davis pointed out in one of her books, that women take as great a risk of anonymity when they merge their names with men in literary collaboration as when they merge in matrimony. According to psychologist Steve Biko, the first weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Women s history evaporates because our culture has a stake in erasing women from history and denying that their participation or leadership ever existed. Kandinsky along with other Artists such as Derain, Vlaminck and Braque were considered as Fauves meaning wild beasts a comment made by Art critics who found their use of colour unnatural and aggressive. Along with Angel of the Last Judgment, many paintings made around this time centralized around apocalyptic themes of chaos and death. In the painting the viewer is caught in the middle of destruction with the piece s swirling arcs that propel the eye across the canvas. Through prominent black lines an angelic silhouette is implemented in the center of the painting. A sense of motion is conveyed with feathered strokes of the figure s angelic wings. The upper borders are filled with warm reds and oranges with curved black arcs interrupting and swirling around the piece. Collaboration in My Home Group My Contribution Paper Collaboration consists of a few fundamental components such as the willingness to listen and learn from each other, sharing one s own ideas and perspectives, having respect for each other, working together to achieve a common goal, and being responsible for the self and the whole group. A group has to collaborate in order to deliberate and achieve their common goal because the three phases of deliberation: information gathering, decision making, and reflection, all refer back to the ability to collaborate with each other. While working in a group, group members should always work toward the goal of becoming a good leader, a person who makes the groups she or he works in better (Practice Deliberation as Citizenship, Gene Edgar) by being a responsible and respectful group member, and also being someone who is willing to go the extra miles to make sure everyone in the group is feeling comfortable presenting their ideas in the group. • 17. The Theory Of Evolution Of Human History And Modern Thinking Since the dawn of time, the theory of evolution has played an important role in the process of understanding human history and modern thinking. However, this theory didn t always have an explicit term to clarify its meaning. Philosophers embraced the ideals of knowledge and enlightenment of reason searching for answers as to better understand the origins of mankind and how it attributes to what it means to be human. Alongside social progress and intellectual development, fascinating new discoveries were made through observation and experimentation, and as a result, the revolutionary realm of science emerged to become a timeless, universally systematic phenomenon of practiced knowledge. Thus, it was during the beginning of this scientific era, when individuals like Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin incorporated the theory of evolution as an understanding of progressive change and development of different species over time. In fact, some say they find themselves in foreign travel and to mature and grow in ways that could not be perceived before the journey started. Accordingly, we travel to have our senses enlightened by things like the smell of fresh baked goods strolling through a small village in southern France, the taste and smell of sweet mead in a Scottish monastery, to take a swim in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean or camp in dense jungles of the Amazon. Still, things like this make a lifelong impact because our mind can never forget the feelings of when we were there. As a result, Traveling is not just an experience or something to do, it is something beautiful that educates, enlightens, humbles, heals us. Travel brings experiences that cannot be had by reading or learning from others about the places visited. In fact, many of us need to see, taste and touch to benefit from an experience. Frankly, it is not enough to read about the Great wall of China, we need to touch the stones that were laid over a thousand years ago and this small act can help us envision the sweat and blood put into this tremendous monument. Furthermore, this need to interface with objects and places is just as needed when it comes to people and experiencing other cultures. Authoritarian Theory Authoritarian theory in mass media can be comprehended as media that operate under either publicly or privately owned (Biagi, 2012). The authoritarian theory is origin from Ancient Greece philosophy Plato (407 327 B.C) with the theory who thought that the State was safe only in the hands of a few wise men (Peoi.org, 2015). Then, a brittish academician, Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) had argued that the power to maintain order was sovereign and individual objections were to be ignored (Peoi.org, 2015). Easy Rider Analysis In Easy Rider, the mid 20th century intriguing drama directed by Dennis Hopper, we were drawn back to 1969 to shed light on the influences of drugs, sex, and culture as the characters began to question the American system in this counterculture movement. The counterculture movement provoked an alternative lifestyle that came about during the Vietnam War. The tensions following the protests of human inequalities embodying racial segregation and the frustration faced with the draft system resulted in the Civil Rights Movement. This film, Easy Rider, helped to formulate and to transition over to the New Hollywood slump era. With the experimentation of new drugs such as cocaine and marijuana, people yearned to grasp a fresh perspective on life through the usage of these substances. These hippies, especially the characters throughout the film, Billy and Wyatt, wanted to acquire different forms of these perceptions so they were not viewed as inadequate within society. The essence embodied throughout the film exhibits Billy and Wyatt aspiring to find freedom through Hopper s usage of stylistic forms through film editing and cinematography. These stylistic forms do not work in isolation, but rather work together to create the underlying message in the quest to find themselves. Even from the very start of the film, formalist elements are exemplified throughout the camera movement as being jerky and careless. While still alluring in the natural presence expressed throughout the captivating views of scenery during the sequences of the cross country motorcycle ride. Easy Rider s central theme is freedom; while Billy and Wyatt embark on an adventure throughout America in pursuit to find a community to establish their roots. They traveled to many destinations from Los Angeles to New Orleans to get that sense of belonging to join society harmoniously. They essentially could not find what they were ultimately searching for. • 22. Persuasive Essay On Car Seat Safety Many parents lack education on, or do not fully know, proper car seat use and the consequences of improper car seat safety implementation. Car seat safety is important for children as they face increase risk of injury at certain ages or physical size. The Recommendations According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (n.d.), there are distinct types of car seats that should be used for recommended ages. The recommendations state that parents should also check the seat s label to ensure that the child meets its height and weight limits (NHTSA, n.d.). Children under the age of one should always use a rear facing seat placed in the back seat of the vehicle (NHTSA, n.d.). These are used for small children due to their weak head, neck, and spine, for which a rear facing car seat will provide increased protection (NHTSA, n.d.). After the age of one and reaching the listed height and weight limits, children may move to a forward facing car seat (NHTSA, n.d.). This seat is still positioned in the back of the car and anchored with the seatbelt (NHTSA, n.d.). Forward facing car seats use a harness that distributes impact across the child s body and utilize a tether that limits head movement. Again, once meeting the forward facing car seats limits, recommended only at the age of four, children may move to a forward facing booster seat, still placed in the back seat (NHTSA, n.d.). Booster seats proved extra height to the child so that the seat belt is positioned properly over the child s strongest areas (NHTSA, n.d.). Children should be kept in the booster seat as long as possible, no earlier than the age of eight. Using the booster seat as long as possible will help ensure that the child properly fits a seat belt (NHTSA, n.d.). When determining if seat belt positioning is correct for the child, ensure the lap belt is positioned across the thighs, not the stomach, and that the shoulder belt crosses the shoulder and chest, not the neck or face (NHTSA, n.d.). The intention of seat belts and safety car seats is to distribute any impacts from an accident across the strongest parts of the body. • 32. The Theoretical Approach Of Planning For Emergencies And... This paper will briefly examine the theoretical approach to planning for emergencies and disasters with an overview of the use of Worst Case Scenario Philosophy and speak to the importance on why the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) can enhance individual organizations and the community to more efficiently and effectively mitigate an emergency and disaster. It is a mutually shared understanding that that we as a nation, an industry and the community need to be better prepared to lessen the effects of crisis in order to protect our citizenry. Unfortunately it is easier said then made actionable. While cooperation of agencies throughout the community is not guaranteed regardless of the validity of the vulnerabilities, coordinated community and agency specific planning is required for a complete mitigation and recovery for crisis response. This enables the entire community to address worst case scenarios, obtain the buy in of all public private organizations to enable inter agency cooperation, and facilitates clear communication by providing the responders the ability to understand actions taking place, or that could take place, as a result of asset dependencies throughout all operational periods of a disaster response. A mass causally response is one of the most significant elements of crisis mitigation. • 33. Summary Of Katie Hammil s Sense And Sensibility Katie Hammil s play Sense and Sensibility, adapted from Jane Austen s novel of the same name, is about reservedness and openness and how both behaviors can cause misunderstanding, but ultimately result in the same outcome, which is revealed through the play s characterization of the two Dashwood sisters, and the conflict between them, which is all highlighted by the lighting and costume design as well as the acting in the Playmakers Repertory Company production. Elinor Dashwood (Shanelle Nichole Leonard) and her sister Marianne Dashwood (Emily Bosco) are two people of very different temperaments. Elinor is characterized as reserved, and she works to restrain her emotions for the sake of decorum and because she believes it is unseemly. I WILL be mistress of myself, she exclaims as Edward Ferrars (Rishan Dhamija) appears at the end of the play, in the scene Edward is Married (106). Marianne, on the other hand, is a lot more open about her emotions, and is characterized as a more lively and sensitive young woman. Elinor s personality causes her to bottle up her feelings toward Edward, making her extremely unhappy, while Marianne s willingness to love Willoughby (Geoffrey Culbertson) results in him taking advantage of her. The sisters s differences causes conflict between them, as they cannot understand why the other acts as she does. Elinor desperately wishes her sister would be more composed, while Marianne wishes Elinor would be more uninhibited. This often leaves them at odds with one another, as seen in the end of the scene Brandon s Letter. Ultimately, however, both sisters are able to find romance and a happy ending, and can finally begin to learn from their mistakes and accept each other for how they are. Both young women s temperaments are reflected in their costumes, designed by Olivera Gajic. Throughout the entirety of the play, Elinor wears a dress of light blue, a color that implies ice and coldness, which mirrors her tendency to be emotionally cold. In fact, Marianne even teases her sister in the scene Marianne and Elinor by referring to her as Cold hearted Elinor! (14). Also, in the beginning of the play, Elinor wears a neck kerchief, as if covering herself up both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Slavery Of The United States Before the 19th C, literature in the United States (US) was largely characterized on the basis of its diverse nature. Using different forms of documentations such as travel accounts and journals, early European explorers noted down their different experiences in the New World. Owing to the fact that these new Explorers were very religious, most of their writings were defined by their religious convictions especially the Puritan faith. In addition to these writings being shaped by religion, most of the narratives revolved around the common phenomenon of slavery. It was the time when emancipation was being advocated by many people especially in the North States which was anti slavery. Most of the narratives in those times revolved around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the coming of the Europeans, the natives held the best parts of the land and when these settlers came, they took the fertile lands and most economical viable lands for themselves. Thus, the economy of the US continued to grow while the state of the native Indians continued to worsen as they lost their power and resources. It could not have been possible for the US to have developed in those exponential terms without acquiring land from the natives at almost no cost. When the settlers set their feet in the New World, they had one agenda which was to achieve economic growth of the new land at all costs. It was then achieved at the expense of the Native Indians who had to be stripped of their land and resources. In most of the narratives, there is a lot of Puritan religious agenda that is directly based on the Bible as their religious authority. They base their arguments on the fact that God promises to freely provide for his children through His grace. This kind of belief is not found within the Native Indians religious belief system and thus they were viewed as Godless. It allows people to put conflicts behind them and to focus on the future and what it offers them. As seen many times throughout history, problems and disputes can create barriers that prevent growth and development of society. However, when people work together and make negotiations, they are able to move onto more important things, rather than dwell on the past. For instance, the Camp David Accords ended the war and constant tension between Egypt and Israel. The two countries had been at odds since the foundation of Israel in the mid nineteen hundreds. Wars raged on between them for decades without any solution, until Anwar Sadat was elected president of Egypt. • 36. Identity In Alice s Adventures In Wonderland Lewis Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland creates a warped reality, causing each character s identity to become confused. An exception to this confusion of identity is the Cheshire Cat, who shows an uncanny awareness of his own madness, giving him considerable control over his presence and allowing him to occasionally leave only a grin behind. Alice, contrarily, is strewn all over as she loses herself in Wonderland. In Wonderland, all are mad, but to Alice this is preposterous, even as she fails to explain who she is both to herself and to others. Carroll s juxtaposition of the Cheshire Cat and Alice in their first meeting scene exaggerates Alice s insecure identity and its development throughout her adventures in Wonderland. In Alice s Adventures, Alice falls down a rabbit hole for what seems like forever, while bits and pieces of her identity remain trapped at the entrance. After this fall, ... This simplistic view of decision making plays on the complexity that humans weave into simple decisions of everyday life. Alice s confusion is spotlighted by this overtly simple take on decisions, and her confusion can then be tied to the absence of a concrete identity. The Cat proceeds to reveal that in Wonderland, we re all mad here. I m mad. Furthermore, I think that Arnie was more guilty because he was ought not just to warn Reggie about the consequences, but also he was responsible for reporting Reggie s behavior as stated in the UoPeople Course Catalog (2017), Students encountering suspected cases of cheating should discreetly report the violator to their Course Instructor (p. 139). What do I think about plagiarism? well, it is definitely a problem which is present in many aspects of our life these days. For example, in my field of work, I have seen programmers delivered solutions that they don t even understand or are capable of improving, simply because what they did was just to copy and paste their code from a forum. You may argue that it is code, and it could look really similar one to another, but the truth is that code means ideas, and those could also be plagiarised.
