Consumer Goods Classification
Introduction:
The classification of goods (physical products) is essential to business because it provides a basis for
determining the strategies needed to move them through the marketing system.
The two main forms of classifications are consumer goods and industrial goods.
We are interested in this paper to elaborate more on Consumer Goods Classification only.
Consumer Goods:
Consumer goods are defined as goods that are bought from retail stores for personal, family, or
household use.
Or, they can also be defined as:
Products intended for use or consumption by individuals, as opposed to organizations, companies or
businesses.
Consumer goods are generally divided into subcategories according to the method by which they are

For price based shopping goods, consumers judge product attributes to be similar and look around for
the least expensive item/store. Consumers will exert effort in searching for information, because
shopping goods are bought infrequently. Hyundai Automobile and store brand clothes are marketed as
price based shopping goods.
Because customers are going to shop for these goods, a fundamental strategy in establishing stores
that specialize in them is to locate near similar stores in active shopping areas, in other words,
shopping goods require selective distribution. Ongoing strategies for marketing shopping goods
include the heavy use of advertising in local media, including newspapers, radio, and television.
Advertising for shopping goods is often done cooperatively with the manufacturers of the goods.
Specialty Goods: Specialty goods are items that are unique or unusual at least in the mind of the buyer.
Buyers know exactly what they want and are willing to exert considerable effort to obtain it. These
goods are usually, but not necessarily, of high value, and they may or may not be durable goods. They
differ from shopping goods primarily because price is not the chief consideration. Often the attributes
that make them unique are brand preference (e.g., a certain make of automobile) or personal
preference (e.g., a food dish prepared in a specific way). Other items that fall into this category are
wedding dresses, antiques, fine jewelry, and golf

Slavery done so we do not need to remember it! Respond to this statement drawing specific reference
to the nature of slave society and how the enslaved fought against their enslavement.
Every society, in the Caribbean or anywhere else, is a product of the particular historical forces that
shaped it and gave it form. For the Caribbean the most impactful historical force was the introduction
of slavery and slave societies to the Caribbean and the period thereafter, up until its abolition.
Although slavery is done, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually, the slaves in the lowest rung of this social ladder were the ones who rebelled and often
domestic slaves were the ones who betrayed them by reporting the plots to their master.
(www.guyana.org). As a result of the enslaved Africans in the Caribbean, wherever there was slavery,
there was resistance . (V. shepherd).
Until recently the role of the African people who resisted enslavement and fought to end slavery in
various ways during the Transatlantic Slave Trade had been ignored. It is important to remember that
resistance to slavery had a long history. It began in Africa itself when the Africans fought against
enslavement and continued on board the ships, during the middle passage and also on the plantations.
(N.p, 2009) There were different forms of resistances used by the enslaved Africans in the Caribbean
cam be broken down into two main categories; violent and non violent resistances or more formerly
active and passive resistance. There was also marronage which can fall into the category of non
violent resistance whether it was grand, petit or maritime marronage. According to Hilary Beckles the
many slave revolts and plots between 1638 and 1838 could be conceived as the 200 years war .
(Beckles 1991). This was the period where the resistances and revolts used by enslaved Africans was
at its peak, enslaved blacks used the various forms of resistances in order to show their dissatisfaction

Rhetorical Analysis Of Markets And Moral By Michael Sandel
What should be able to be bought and sold on the open market? Children? A kidney? The right to kill
a rhino? These are just a few different topics Michael Sandel uses in the article Markets and Morals
from the book Acting Out Culture. Sandel uses a few different techniques to create a persuasive
article. One is showing his credibility, with a short header illustrating that he holds the title of
Professor of Government at Harvard. Another is pathos, or appealing to a reader s emotions. Finally,
there is logos, or presenting facts, which Sandel does expertly throughout the article. Michael Sandel s
article Markets and Morals is a persuasive article because of the author s use of strong credibility,
straight logic and facts, and powerful and emotional verbiage. This translates to an overwhelming
sense of persuasiveness that stems from the appeal to the reader s senses of ethos, pathos, and logos.
The author, Sandel, establishes credibility through several different techniques, which all combine to
provide for a sense of ethos. As part of the article Markets and Morals in the book Acting Out Culture,
a short foreword is included on Sandel. Immediately, this foreword creates credibility and respect for
Sandel. His experiences, such as publishing several books(40), and as well his his education and
position, as Professor of Government at Harvard award him instant respect. On page 47, Sandel says,
the moral vacancy of contemporary politics has a number of sources , and then

The Office Bully Essay

The Office Bully, by: Hawkins, K.
DeVry University Stephen Carter
September, 6, 2014
Some employers may be working with a bully, and not even know it. The Office Bully by Kathryn
Hawkins mentions virtuous points of this concept. The issue with bullies is when you think you have
escaped from them, they can ultimately return and become your boss. Although you may think they
have potentially matured and progressed as people, they are actually still stagnant in an oppressing
manner. In my opinion, they will use whatever power they have against you, especially if they become
your boss. Kathryn Hawkins mentions alerting and effective arguments in this article. She mentions

What I usually tend to look for in an article is facts! The article notes, 13 percent of employees are
currently being bullied in the workplace, while 24 percent have experienced bullying from a coworker
or boss in the past , Bullies aren t always men either: according to the Zogby study, 40 percent of the
bullies reported were women, and more than 70 percent of the time, their targets were other women
(Hawkins, K. 2010) These facts have made the article much more relevant and as a reader we want to
know how reliable an article is, these facts have proven to be true because it is also supported by an
actual experience of a different person.
Opinions are different from facts. Opinions are usually a conclusion reached by someone. I learned
that there are two different opinions. There is the verifiable opinion and the expert opinion. This
article has a bit of both just because with verifiable opinion it can be shown to be true or shown to be
false, but then again you must always attribute them to the person who gave it, Kathryn Hawkins
states, many bullies will continue to emotionally abuse others throughout their lives (Hawkins, K.
2010). An individual cannot generalize and automatically think that many bullies will continue to be
bullies in the future, but this can generally be shown to be true or false. As far as expert opinion, the
personal feelings are put the side and they look at

Mozart Family Concert Review Paper
Mozart Family Concert
In late 2013, the Blue Ridge Orchestra was invited to be one of the featured ensembles in the
Asheville Symphony s Mozart festival Asheville Amadeus. After discussions with ASO Executive
Director David Whitehill, it was decided in February of 2014 that the BRO would present a Family
Concert on March 21, 2015, the Saturday before the Finale concert with pianist Emanuel Ax. The
challenge presented was to design a program that would appeal to both Mozart novices and Mozart
aficionados.
Planning a successful concert requires imagination in addition to an understanding of the goals and
logistics of concert presentation. An open and informed mind can make the difference between

Collagen is the predominant protein in animal bodies,...
Collagen is the predominant protein in animal bodies, constituting approximately 30% of the total
protein (Birk Bruckner, 2005; Unlua et al. 2014). It is an extracellular matrix protein that can either
directly or indirectly interact with cells to alter cellular activity. At least 27 different types of collagen
have been indentified, correspondingly named types I to XXVII (Birk Bruckner, 2005).
Structure
Collagen is characterized by the right handed triple helical rod structure which is formed by three left
handed helix polypeptide chain. Although the triple helical structure is the main characteristic of
collagen, some globular proteins are indentified as collagen due to the repeating trilets and small triple
helical rod (Prockop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It includes types I III, V, and XI, which are similar in size, approximately about 1000 amino acids.
Network forming collagen is type IV collagens found in basement membranes and type VIII and X
collagens. This class of collagen forms net like structures in which monomers associate at the C
termini to form dimers and at the N termini to form tetramers. In addition to these end to end
interactions, the triple helical domains intertwine to form supercoiled structures. FACIT collagen
stands for fibril associated collagen with interrupted triplehelice, which includes types IX, XII, XIV,
XVI, and XIX collagens (Prockop Kivirikko 1995; Van Der Rest Garrone 1991). They do not form
fibrils themselves but are found attached to the surfaces of preexisting fibrils of the fibril forming
collagens. Type VI is the only known collagen that can form beaded filament. The type VI collagen
forms a dimer with another type VI collagen with end to end interaction. The globular domain of the
type VI collagen dimer forms a tetramer with other type VI collagen dimer. The tetramer further
aggregates with another tetramer to form the beaded filament (Prockop Kivirikko 1995). Collagen of
anchoring fibrils is composed by type VII collagen. Type VII collagen has two non collagen domain,
NC1 and NC2. Type VII collagen forms a dimer with another type VII collagen by the interaction with
two NC2 domains. The dimer further aggregates with other dimmers to form fibrils.

The French Withdrawal From Indochina
The French withdrawal from Indochina occurred on May 7th 1954 as a result of the French being out
numbered, additionally they also had an inadequate amount of knowledge of the surrounding area of
Dien Bien Phu compared to Vietnam s knowledge. The Viet Minh were highly underestimated by
French forces during the battle at Dien Bien Phu. In the nineteenth century Indochina was colonised
by France, who misused the people and their resources, however cultural legacy was present.
Indochina called for independence following France s withdrawal.
Colonisation and the French Rule had a dramatic effect on Vietnamese way of life. Conflict
significantly increased in Vietnam due to the arm resistance lasting for twenty years. Indochina was
taken over by France during the time period when the European power was rushing to seize colonies
within Africa, Asia and the Pacific for their raw materials and markets for industries. Vietnam became
profitable for the French due to the exploiting of Vietnam s people and their natural resources.
Resources such as tea, rice and rubber plantations were established in the south and opened up sand
mining factories in the north. The Vietnamese traditional lifestyle was disrupted and peasants were
being forced to pay high taxes, which then pushed majority into poverty. Land was also taken from
peasants and given to the new French settlers and the wealthy Vietnamese who cooperated with the
French ruling. The enormous number of peasant left to work in the

Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia Essay
Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia
Despite making a recovery after the 1998 market crash, Russia remains weighted with numerous
holdovers from the Communist era that keep its economy from taking advantage of free market
reforms. In short, Russia has not prospered under capitalism because it has not yet discovered it. In
order to do so, the Russian government must engage in extensive reform in several key areas:
improving the rule of law, creating stable monetary policy, and ending a policy of favoritism to
particular businesses. Engaging in these reforms would lower the extremely high transaction costs of
doing business legally, stimulating a wave of new investment and wealth creation within Russia, as
well as encouraging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lack of clearly defined and enforced property rights is another major problem. The communist era
criminal code has only been partially replaced, and each contract must be carefully examined to check
whether it contradicts an ever shifting mess of regulations. In addition, it is unclear what success the
communists will have in the next election, so long term planning is very difficult because the future is
so unpredictable.
Despite an ambitions privatization program, many of the large factories remain state owned, partly
because of the fact that their outdated and inefficient production would immediately and properly put
them out of business under a free market. However, because the government has so much influence
over the banks, it keeps funding these inefficient enterprises to earn the support of the many workers
they hire. Many of the factories that were privatized, simply signed ownership to their communist
bosses, and because of their pull with the government, stay alive by government aid.
Despite all the issues mentioned above, the biggest challenge to Russian economic growth is probably
its monetary policy. The Russian central bank is a direct holdover from Soviet times and needs to
change its policy drastically to adapt to a free market economy. In a capitalist economy, private banks
serve to store money and provide investment to business. Because banks lose their investment when a
debtor defaults, they are careful to insure that entrepreneurs

Dry Tortugas National Park Research Paper
I went to Dry Tortugas National Park this summer. It s the farthest Florida Key and is at least a 70 mile
boat or plane trip. This year is the park s 100th anniversary and I was so excited, and scared, to go. It
was established because once Ponce de León caught around 160 turtles there. Also, what makes this
park unique is that 99% of it is under water and since the water is so shallow there are many
shipwrecks. I love fish and all but seaweed, on the other hand, is one of my biggest fears.
The next day, I woke up and went to the place that the ferry would pick me up at. The park provided
the ferry ride. The ferry was named the Yankee Freedom III. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would
be and it looked pretty nice inside. When I sat down, a few moments later a girl named Chloe sat next

I could see Fort Jefferson, the moat around it, the islands, and how shallow the water actually was.
Around 2 minutes later we finally landed. The first thing I did was grab my bags and went into Fort

signs, benches, people, and a lot of things and I had no idea what they were.
After that, I went to the area that I could set up my tent in. I ended up next to Chole. I decided that
since it was still slightly early, it would be a good idea to go snorkeling. I asked Chloe if she wanted to
go with me because it was shallow water, which meant the seaweed was close to me. We threw on our
swimsuits in our tents, walked to the water and dove in it.

commercial contracts which have been entered into. Different legal issues have affected each contract

substantial performance. Each contract will be considered separately using legislation and relevant

Caribou Descriptive Writing
I Inhale a breath of icy fresh air as I release the string on my bow. The arrow whistles sharply through
the air until splat the front end of the arrow plunges deep into the Caribous thorax. The Caribou jars its
head up and collapses as its legs buckles beneath him. I silently place my bow back into its hid
satchel, which is strapped behind my back, cautiously walking towards the carcass. First I verify that
the animal is dead, by observing the stillness of his chest. Then I pull the arrow out gingerly, and I
watch as a scarlet stream of blood cascades out of the wound melting the snow to create little lagoon.

Caribou meat properly and drying out and cleaning the organs. I take off the bags of meat and trudge
through the heavy snow towards the meat house. I get inside the tiny meat house and the smell of salt
hits me like a wall. In the meat house is racks and racks of dried meat and a huge ice box in the corner
where I store some of it, there is also a wooden counter where I will lay out and cast the meat in salts
to preserve it properly. It is cold and dark in the meat house so I pull a match out of my satchel and
light a candle. I find a certain peace in preparing meat, which is kind of weird but I am really
passionate about my job. Hours later I am finished and I blow out the candle and head towards the
house, my stomach is growling and I realise that I had not eaten since I broke my fast. As I walk the
worn path to the cabin, I look up at the sky and see a millions and billions of stars sprinkled across the
galaxy I stare amazed it s a great day to be alive. I open the door to the cabin and a warm delicious
aroma surrounds me. I stomp off the snow from my moccasins before I walk into the cabin. The cabin

College Is A Time For Young Men And Women
College is a time for young men and women to achieve a higher education in order to grasp their
dreams and hopes for their lives. While on this endeavor, pressures in all forms, shapes, and sizes

Quantitative And Qualitative Research Process
Integration is the stage(s) where the quantitative and qualitative methods are mixed or integrated in the
research process (Greene, Caracelli, Graham, 1989; Tashakkori Teddlie, 1998; Creswell et al., 2003).
Mixing can occur at the beginning stage of the study when the researcher is formulating the
quantitative and qualitative research (Teddlie Tashakkori, 2003), and integration can be done at the
interpretation stage of the quantitative and qualitative results (Onwuegbuzie Teddlie, 2003). The
quantitative and qualitative phases are connected (Hanson et al., 2005) after data analysis in the first
phase to guide the data collection in the second phase. For the sequential explanatory study, I will
connect the quantitative and qualitative phase during the intermediate stage in the research process.
That is, I will select participants for the qualitative phone interview from those who responded to the
survey in the first phase (Creswell et al., 2003).
Integrating the Outcomes of Both Phases of the Study I will integrate the results of the two phases
during the discussion of the study s outcomes. As indicated in the research design, I will ask both
quantitative and qualitative research questions to better understand the roles that behavioral science

Patriarchy in Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility Essay
Patriarchy in Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility
Despite the fact that Jane Austen has become what Julian North describes as a conservative icon in
popular culture signified by her depictions of traditional class and gender hierarchies, sexual propriety
and Christian values, the novel _Sense and Sensibility_ provides, if not a feminist perspective, a
feminist discourse lacking in Emma Thompson s film version (North 38). In this essay, I attempt to
argue briefly that the novel, which initially seems to uphold cultural norms of sexuality and does little
to question women s subaltern position, can be read to undermine the patriarchy and especially male
controlled courtship rituals. Next I seek to demonstrate how the film s ... Show more content on

Julian North, noting that critics have often read Elinor s triumphant sense as validating an anti
individualist reactionary viewpoint in which the self must submit to the moral and religious order of
society, offers a contrasting opinion (39). Other critics read adherence to conservative ideology as a
cover story ...for the implicitly rebellious vision ...of a writer acutely conscious of the confinements of
patriarchy (North 39). This feminist reading of _Sense_ is most cogent when the reader is privileged
to Elinor s own thoughts. Elinor s sense, manifested in her stoic silence and inner thoughts, contrasts
with Marianne s sensibility, notably with her emotive soliloquies and dialogues, to offer a verbal
resistance to their mutual misfortune. The discourse between sense and sensibility in the book offers a
means to combat the misfortune the women in the novel suffer, and each temperament leads its
possessor to ultimate happiness, even if sense is clearly favored.
Similarly, the sisterly bond of the Dashwoods offers an alternative narrative to the traditional courtship
romance. Deborah Kaplan acknowledges that several critics that the friendships of the women
characters with one another are at least as important as their relationships with male characters and
that these relationships sometimes seem[] to overshadow Sense and Sensibility s courtship plot (184).
Perhaps the most noticeable deviation from the two courtship plots in the novel is

How Homeostasis Is Important For Your Life
Homeostasis
The term I would like to introduce today is Homeostasis. This term is used in psychology and means
having balanced body or life. A simpler definition to keep things constant, or in a balanced flow. This
could be an organ in the body, your mind, or simply the area of your life. It is important for us to know
what homeostasis is because, we all need balance in our lives. Psychology today says Homeostasis is
critical to survival. If our bodies do not maintain themselves within certain tolerances (temperature
being one example) we cannot function. Growing through creative change is also critical. If we cannot
adapt to shifts in our environment (changing food sources being one example) we cannot function
either. (psychologytoday)
Homeostasis can have many different applications in everyday life. It can mean keeping the body in
balance, in regards to weight, health etc. It can mean keeping the mind in balance, not sinking into a
depression, not succumbing to harmful addictions, or not caving under everyday stress. I feel this term
is very important, because developing balance, or homeostasis in my life was one of the main ways I
battled and won depression. I plan on entering the field of counseling psychology, because of this I
want to learn more about homeostasis.
First I would like to start out with clarifying the different kinds of homeostasis in greater detail.
Homeostasis is the term used to describe a body or system in balance, but one of the process the

Discuss How Sherriff Presents Human Weakness and Frailty...
Discuss how Sherriff presents human weakness and frailty in Journeys End
Journeys End was written with the intention of letting the war speak . The lives of the officers on the
front line during 1917 are examined. A key theme that is explored throughout the play is the reactions
of the mind and body, under the stress of the war. Each character represents the weakness of the
human being in an individual way, but the character on which frailty is mainly focussed is Stanhope.
Stanhope is the topic of many conversations within the dugout and the first conversation we see,
Stanhope is mentioned. The conversation is between Osborne, the second in command, and the
commanding officer of the company being relieved. The commander inquires as to ... Show more

Sherriff shows this to the audience by having Raleigh describe the war like a game at school, using
words such as cricket and rugger , which show the youth, innocence and naivety of Raleigh. When the
reality becomes clear, Raleigh s attitude towards the war changes dramatically.
The death of Raleigh at the end of the play sums up his characteristics in the best possible way, his
innocence is shown until his final moments when he compares the wound in his back to be just the
same as getting kicked in a game of rugger . His death signifies much more than the passing of one
soldier, added with Raleigh passing, the candle flame extinguishing, shows the death of society in
1917 and of innocence, showing how nothing could return to the way it was in the years previous to
the war.
After the raid which occurs near the end of the play, Raleigh s view on the war has changed after he
witnesses the first deaths of people he knew. He questions as to how Stanhope can stay drinking
champagne whilst Osborne s body is lying out there . Again this shows the audience just how naïve
Raleigh is, as he has never experienced the loss of someone close to him and the effect that the war
has on people.
Despite Raleigh s innocence and weakness, he is determined to fight until the end, showing that his
character (although naïve) has

My Personal Statement Of Ecology
For me to fall in love with science, and ecology in particular, has been a lifelong process. I was lucky
to have experienced an early discovery of the joys and nuances of nature and this was supported
throughout my youth and adulthood by teachers, peers, and most importantly, my family. My first
memory, of seeing light filtering through swaying trees above me, is indicative of the beauty and
tranquility that nature has provided me throughout my life. Although I have always had an innate
respect and enjoyment of the environment, this feeling was amplified every time i would visit my
family in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico. These frequent trips to a pristine environment were what
ultimately changed my perspective on the world, my personal values, and led me to pursue an
education in ecology.

mom and her siblings were able to turn the soil to maintain maximum growth and could grow
livestock to use the resources provided by them. They know which plants are medicinal and
beneficial, as well as which ones can be deadly. These concepts, of being able to conserve the

A Comparison Of Identity Theory And Social Identity
What is identity? A loose definition of identity is a sense of who we are. So how do we develop or
define our identity? Do we define it by the roles we play; mother, father, priest, teacher? Or do we
define it by what groups we associate ourselves with; republican, atheist, professional? This paper will
briefly discuss identity theory and social identity theory and then review the similarities and the
differences of the two. Identity theory examines how social conditions mold our identities and
subsequently direct our behaviors. In other words, society influences the roles we play and we behave
in ways that meet the expectations of that role. For example, a woman who has a child identifies as a
mother and then behaves in ways that are acceptable to being a mother in accordance with the social
standards she lives in. In addition to this, identity theory states that the self is based on multiple roles;
the mother can also be a daughter, an employee, a sister and a tennis player. In identity theory terms,
these are called role identities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, a woman, when caring for her child, will likely behave in ways that are nurturing but, that same

more important to them. When two roles are in conflict a person will choose one over the other. The
mother mentioned above may abandon her work if her child is ill and her role as a mother is more

During this 1 hour and 5 minute video, you watch a story. It is an incredibly personal story to her as
you can see with her actions, facial expressions, and body language throughout the entire music video.
You can hear how personal this story is by listening to the lyrics of the twelve different songs in this
music video, by listening to the tone of voice that changes with every emotion, and by listening to the
spoken words/poetry carefully chosen to go between each song to portray an even bigger message that
is far beyond even her own lyrics. You watch Beyonce pour her heart out during the Lemonade visual
album about multiple topics that you can tell are very close to her heart. Lemonade touches on many
different topics but ultimately it is about her husband Jay Z, being unfaithful. Throughout Lemonade
you watch an emotion journey beginning at the first signs of infidelity in Beyonce and Jay Zs
relationship to, ultimately, her forgiveness. Each of the twelve songs in this visual album show how
Beyonce gets to the point of forgiveness and show her journey and how she dealt with the situation
before her. The first song of the visual album is Pray You Can Catch Me . When we are first
introduced to Beyonce in the visual album she is in the middle of a corn field. No makeup, simple

Nude Photographs Censorship
The relative immaturity of today s world has caused a great deal of calamity over certain issues. As an
example, one main conflict has arisen between the general public of today and an artistic form that
truly depicts the human body. This problem has arisen in museums of today, which by definitions are
locations where objects of historical, scientific, artistic, or cultural importance are displayed. Nude
photographs are appropriate, if not necessary in most museums of today because of their relative
significance to our own backgrounds. Without going into too much detail, every facet of each human
is different from that of another and neglecting that difference would be ignoring the artform that is
the body. Due to the immaturity of today s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All forms of censorship seek to hide something from viewers, whether it be blurring nudity on
television or excluding it from places of learning where it is studied and observed, museums. Nudity is
appropriate in museums to the public, however, in some cases, it has been entirely censored. Several
lawsuits have ensued and in some cases, the museums have won, and in others the cases have been
dismissed at an early stage. Facebook even blocked the French art museum, the Jeu de Paume, for
twenty four hours after it posted a nude photo that would come to be displayed. Freedom of
expression is very real, and to censor this pivotal right by not allowing the showcasing of nudity in
museums is technically a crime. Artists have the right to express themselves. Curators have the right to
choose the expression they think matters most. And the rest of us have the right to see that expression,
and judge those choices for ourselves. If anyone s offended by any work in any museum, they have
the easiest redress: They can vote with their feet, and avoid the art they don t like (Gopnik 1). This
quote taken from a Washington Post article puts the entire argument into perspective. It is the right of
museums to showcase what they deem is of value and it not up to the general public to advocate for its
removal. As long as the curator of any given museum deems a piece worthy for the general public,
then it most definitely should be shown. It is hard for some to realize the difference between the
seemingly pornographic and artistic. Yet, museums make the distinction and only house educational
pieces, eliminating all of non historical, non scientific, non cultural, and non artistic significance.
Nude photographs are appropriate in museums because of their educational

Wildfire Assessment
Wildfire Assessment For as long as mankind can conceive, fire has been a remarkable tool to conquer.
When controlled, it provides necessary heat, energy, and fuel for a consumer to use; however, when
fire goes unattended, it has the potential to become a wholly destructive element. The more western
states of America, such as Utah and Colorado, have repeatedly experienced this concept in its most
devastating form: wildfires. A wildfire is generally considered to be difficult to control and fast
moving, swallowing anything that lay in its path, including forest or human habitat. As human
incursion reaches more remote areas in wooded mountains, wildfires pose a serious threat to high end
homes and secluded cabins. The untamed nature of these fires also allows them to creep into
subdivisions and endanger more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For centuries, society has been battling these natural disasters with considerable effort, only to come
up with charred land and numerous homeless citizens. The one most significant gain, however, that
comes with these fires is the vigorous regrowth that occurs years after the devastation. With a freshly
cleared area, decaying sediment acting as fertilizer, and a significantly lower chance for fires, new life
is easily reintroduced from the waste. The question then becomes whether it is ethical for human
intervention with what is completely natural and healthy for the surrounding environment. The idea of
allowing uncontrolled burns comes with great potential for animal and plant habitats, however it
leaves many citizens in the wake of danger. Finding the balance between these two ideas, excessive
interference and absolute surrender of control, is an important endeavor to way

Analysis Of A Christmas Carol
Have you ever thought of Christmas as a humbug, or just another ordinary day? Probably not, but if
you were to ask Ebenezer Scrooge (from A Christmas Carol), his response to Christmas would be Bah,
Humbug. Just after we finished reading the book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, last week, on
December 1, 2017, my classmates and I went to see a live performance of A Christmas Carol at Actors
Theatre of Louisville. The play was adapted by Barbara Field, and directed by Drew Fracher. In this
essay I will be reviewing how well Actors Theatre portrayed the plot, setting, and characters from the
book A Christmas Carol into a live play.
A Christmas Carol takes place on a cold, snowy Christmas Eve in London, England, during the
Victorian period in the 1840 s. The day started very cold, yet everyone was still joyful. I think the
performance depicted the Victorian setting very well. I would describe the set very detailed and
extravagant. There was fake snow falling from everywhere is the ceiling, and it almost looked very
real to me. There was also walls that stood very tall and could turn to make the stage look like a whole
new set. The costumes also created the 1840 Victorian mood because it was very old style looking,
and ragged. You could tell which people were very rich at the time, and people who were not very
wealthy by the style and condition of the costumes they wore. There was also great, loud sound
effects, that set the mood the most when it would get scary

How Is Harrison Bergeron Competitive
The story Harrison Bergeron is about a futuristic society where everyone is equal in every which way.
People in this society have handicaps to make sure they are as equal as everyone else. But a young
boy named Harrison Bergeron didn t seem to have an effect on his handicaps. He would always find a
way to overcome them and eventually he tries to take over the society and become emperor . This
action Harrison took may have been supported by motivation which could have been sparked by some
competition. The short story Harrison Bergeron, written by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., teaches its readers that
competition is the birthplace of motivation and or atrociousness.
Firstly, with everyone being equal, there would be no competition, so people wouldn t be motivated to
do their best. The year was 2081 and everyone was finally equal (Pg. 1).Without competition why
would people do their best, if they weren t gonna get the satisfaction of doing something better than

Black Mirror By Michel Foucault s View On Modern Society
he 15 Million Merits episode of Black Mirror elucidates the view on discipline of cited humanities
scholar Michel Foucault in its futuristic take on modern day society. Foucault claims that through the
means of surveillance and observation, a natural order will take over sophisticated societies without
much policing power. By establishing common behaviors in different settings, a high level of
discipline can be achieved without effort. In many different commonly used places like schools,
factories, hospitals and prisons, a similar examination takes place among workers, patients and
prisoners, creating a similar and normal accepted behavior. In Black Mirror, the society runs smoothly
without the presence of a central figure of authority, and this directly relates to the Foucauldian view
on society. The use of advanced technology all around them creates the feeling of being watched, so
with that panoptic illusion in the forefront, the behavior of the citizens follows all rules and codes of
conduct. The structure and everyday feel of the environment is seen in the opening scene where Bing
is first introduced. The room he wakes up in is quite small and box like. It has a bed and a bathroom,
and electronic screens take the places of all the walls surrounding him. The bed sheets and his entire
outfit is a gray color, and after his wakeup call recedes from the screens, the room is plunged into an
all around darkness, which adds to Bing s outwardly somber mood. He proceeds to get

Measuring Reaction Rate Using Volume of Gas Produced
Chemistry 12 Formal Report Measuring Reaction Rate using Volume of Gas Produced By John Doe
23th October 2012 Introduction An essential element of chemistry is finding reaction rates. This is
because chemists need to know how long a reaction should take. In addition to needing to know the
rate of a reaction at any point in time to monitor how the reaction is proceeding. Many factors effect
reaction rates, two shown above include temperature and concentration. Concentration affects the rate
of reactions because the more concentrated a solution the more likely collisions between particles will
be. This is simply because there are more particles present to collide with each other. When the
temperature is higher, particles will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In next reaction which took place at a temperature 10˚ higher than that had a rate of 39.5 mL/minute.
Next was the reaction which took place at 10˚ below room temperature which resulted in a rate of 26.8
mL/minute. In the reaction that 20 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach solution and the
temperature was kept constant, the reaction rate dropped to 16.2 mL/minute. Finally the slowest
reaction occurred when 60 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach causing a rate of 10.8
mL/minute. The rate value changes as the temperature is changed. When the temperature increases by
10˚, the rate of the reaction increases by a factor of 0.12 (12%). This is again changed when the
temperature is changed to 10˚ below room temperature. This results in a rate of production of oxygen,
which is decreased by a factor of 0.25 (25%). When the concentrations were changed so did the rate of
reaction. When the concentration was changed to 0.265M the rate of reaction dropped by a factor of
0.5 (50%) below the control value. Furthermore when 60mL of water was added to the bleach
dropping the concentration too 0.132M the rate dropped by a factor of 0.7 (70%). Bleach should never

Decline Of Crime Rates In Canada
Throughout the years, crime rates in Canada s and the United States major cities have decreased
drastically. Regardless of the many factors that lead to increasing crime rates, such as unemployment,
or bad economic circumstances. This essay will examine the many factors leading to the exponential
decline of crime rates in North America. This essay will demonstrate how unemployment and
economic hardship does not always lead to higher crime rates, how the growing increase of new
technology aided in the decrease in crime rates, and the result of government funded programs helping
to reduce crime rate. These factors should be discussed because it illustrates the progress of the
judicial system and federal government throughout the years and it shows that people most vulnerable
to committing crimes may not always commit crime. Similarly, it shows that economic factors leading
to crime in the past are not always the case due to positive behavioral changes throughout the years.
The general themes of the articles are based on economic factors, technology, the justice system and
people of certain age groups that are most likely to commit crimes, and how they all contribute to the
major decline in crime rates over the years. It is also stating the factors related to the rise in crime and
examining how they exponentially decreased as the world became more modernized. The central

Adam Smith And Andrew Carnegie And The Gospel Of Wealth
The continuous disparity of wealth and income can cause constant economic problems within a
society. Although it is not apparent all the time, there are few benefits of discrepancy itself such as
individual wealth, capital, and labor. Both Smith and Carnegie have distinct beliefs about wealth that
differentiate from one another, yet are similar in certain ways. Adam Smith confined all his ideas
about the common man in his Wealth of Nations . Whereas, in the Gospel of Wealth, Andrew Carnegie
had distinct beliefs about the effects of capitalism . All in all, economic conditions of the 21st century

Smith was very much concerned with the welfare of the community and created The Wealth of
Nations, to put forth most of his economic ideas, that are still considered today. The message Adam
Smith alleged was that since people satisfied their own self needs, then the economy would work
affectively. For example, When people look to their own self interests, they contribute unintentionally,
by means of an invisible hand , to the welfare of society (Smith 281). Smith talks about the invisible
hand as a guiding tool towards supply and demand within a society and argued the division of labor
generates wealth not just for that one person but for the nation as a whole. By selling products that are
in demand, for the purpose of earning money people are engaging in within their enterprises.
Additionally, the more demands, the more people want to invest, the more people need to work, the
harder it is to find a job when the economy is at a low. Today, the invisible hand theory is often guides
free markets and capitalism in the direction of efficiency, through supply and demand and competition
for scarce resources.
Another significant contribution to a government is Capitol because profit determines wealth which
can assist an economy to grow bigger and better. Andrew Carnegie acknowledged the unequal effects
of the laissez faire system of capitalism through The Gospel of Wealth. Carnegie thought that a

Tom Wingfield has a dual role in The Glass Menagerie. The first Tom is the narrator, who introduces
his second self, the character. In his fifth soliloquy, Tom the narrator indicates that time has detached
him from the drama, for time is the longest distance between two places (Williams 1568). In the
closing soliloquy Tom recounts how he lives and re lives the story in his memory, though he is
detached from the participants in the original affair. Like his father, a telephone man who fell in love

Tennessee Williams gives us no indication that Tom s escape from his father, Amanda, Laura, and Jim

the responsibility of making meaning out of his life.
Although signs of Pater s aesthetic, poetic passion, can be found in this play, the premise of the action
is phenomenological and the structure of the argument is positivistic. Because Tom continues to
experience the memory, again and again, his philosophic approach to understanding the grief and guilt
attached to his abandonment of his mother goes beyond Hegel s aim to that philosopher s idea of
Concept: Tom refuses to accept the situation as the corpse which has left the tendency behind
(Kaufmann 10). In the play, Tom is able to relate his experience to the audience he has discovered, by
a well combined use of reasoning and observation, the actual laws of phenomena that is to say, their
invariable relations of succession and likeness (Comté 2). He is able to express the logic and the laws
of his situation (his field, memory); however, at the end of the play Tom has not grasped the meaning
locked within his own memory.

  • 2. Consumer Goods Classification Introduction: The classification of goods (physical products) is essential to business because it provides a basis for determining the strategies needed to move them through the marketing system. The two main forms of classifications are consumer goods and industrial goods. We are interested in this paper to elaborate more on Consumer Goods Classification only. Consumer Goods: Consumer goods are defined as goods that are bought from retail stores for personal, family, or household use. Or, they can also be defined as: Products intended for use or consumption by individuals, as opposed to organizations, companies or businesses. Often the attributes that make them unique are brand preference (e.g., a certain make of automobile) or personal preference (e.g., a food dish prepared in a specific way). Other items that fall into this category are wedding dresses, antiques, fine jewelry, and golf ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Respond to this statement drawing specific reference to the nature of slave society and how the enslaved fought against their enslavement. Every society, in the Caribbean or anywhere else, is a product of the particular historical forces that shaped it and gave it form. For the Caribbean the most impactful historical force was the introduction of slavery and slave societies to the Caribbean and the period thereafter, up until its abolition. Although slavery is done, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Usually, the slaves in the lowest rung of this social ladder were the ones who rebelled and often domestic slaves were the ones who betrayed them by reporting the plots to their master. (www.guyana.org). As a result of the enslaved Africans in the Caribbean, wherever there was slavery, there was resistance . (V. shepherd). Until recently the role of the African people who resisted enslavement and fought to end slavery in various ways during the Transatlantic Slave Trade had been ignored. It is important to remember that resistance to slavery had a long history. It began in Africa itself when the Africans fought against enslavement and continued on board the ships, during the middle passage and also on the plantations. (N.p, 2009) There were different forms of resistances used by the enslaved Africans in the Caribbean cam be broken down into two main categories; violent and non violent resistances or more formerly active and passive resistance. There was also marronage which can fall into the category of non violent resistance whether it was grand, petit or maritime marronage. According to Hilary Beckles the many slave revolts and plots between 1638 and 1838 could be conceived as the 200 years war . (Beckles 1991). This was the period where the resistances and revolts used by enslaved Africans was at its peak, enslaved blacks used the various forms of resistances in order to show their dissatisfaction and to ... • 4. Rhetorical Analysis Of Markets And Moral By Michael Sandel What should be able to be bought and sold on the open market? Children? A kidney? The right to kill a rhino? These are just a few different topics Michael Sandel uses in the article Markets and Morals from the book Acting Out Culture. Sandel uses a few different techniques to create a persuasive article. One is showing his credibility, with a short header illustrating that he holds the title of Professor of Government at Harvard. Another is pathos, or appealing to a reader s emotions. Finally, there is logos, or presenting facts, which Sandel does expertly throughout the article. Michael Sandel s article Markets and Morals is a persuasive article because of the author s use of strong credibility, straight logic and facts, and powerful and emotional verbiage. This translates to an overwhelming sense of persuasiveness that stems from the appeal to the reader s senses of ethos, pathos, and logos. The author, Sandel, establishes credibility through several different techniques, which all combine to provide for a sense of ethos. As part of the article Markets and Morals in the book Acting Out Culture, a short foreword is included on Sandel. Immediately, this foreword creates credibility and respect for Sandel. His experiences, such as publishing several books(40), and as well his his education and position, as Professor of Government at Harvard award him instant respect. The Office Bully by Kathryn Hawkins mentions virtuous points of this concept. The issue with bullies is when you think you have escaped from them, they can ultimately return and become your boss. Although you may think they have potentially matured and progressed as people, they are actually still stagnant in an oppressing manner. The article notes, 13 percent of employees are currently being bullied in the workplace, while 24 percent have experienced bullying from a coworker or boss in the past , Bullies aren t always men either: according to the Zogby study, 40 percent of the bullies reported were women, and more than 70 percent of the time, their targets were other women (Hawkins, K. 2010) These facts have made the article much more relevant and as a reader we want to know how reliable an article is, these facts have proven to be true because it is also supported by an actual experience of a different person. Opinions are different from facts. Opinions are usually a conclusion reached by someone. I learned that there are two different opinions. There is the verifiable opinion and the expert opinion. This article has a bit of both just because with verifiable opinion it can be shown to be true or shown to be false, but then again you must always attribute them to the person who gave it, Kathryn Hawkins states, many bullies will continue to emotionally abuse others throughout their lives (Hawkins, K. 2010). An individual cannot generalize and automatically think that many bullies will continue to be bullies in the future, but this can generally be shown to be true or false. The French Withdrawal From Indochina The French withdrawal from Indochina occurred on May 7th 1954 as a result of the French being out numbered, additionally they also had an inadequate amount of knowledge of the surrounding area of Dien Bien Phu compared to Vietnam s knowledge. The Viet Minh were highly underestimated by French forces during the battle at Dien Bien Phu. In the nineteenth century Indochina was colonised by France, who misused the people and their resources, however cultural legacy was present. Indochina called for independence following France s withdrawal. Colonisation and the French Rule had a dramatic effect on Vietnamese way of life. Conflict significantly increased in Vietnam due to the arm resistance lasting for twenty years. Indochina was taken over by France during the time period when the European power was rushing to seize colonies within Africa, Asia and the Pacific for their raw materials and markets for industries. Vietnam became profitable for the French due to the exploiting of Vietnam s people and their natural resources. Resources such as tea, rice and rubber plantations were established in the south and opened up sand mining factories in the north. The Vietnamese traditional lifestyle was disrupted and peasants were being forced to pay high taxes, which then pushed majority into poverty. Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia Essay Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia Despite making a recovery after the 1998 market crash, Russia remains weighted with numerous holdovers from the Communist era that keep its economy from taking advantage of free market reforms. In short, Russia has not prospered under capitalism because it has not yet discovered it. In order to do so, the Russian government must engage in extensive reform in several key areas: improving the rule of law, creating stable monetary policy, and ending a policy of favoritism to particular businesses. Engaging in these reforms would lower the extremely high transaction costs of doing business legally, stimulating a wave of new investment and wealth creation within Russia, as well as encouraging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lack of clearly defined and enforced property rights is another major problem. The communist era criminal code has only been partially replaced, and each contract must be carefully examined to check whether it contradicts an ever shifting mess of regulations. In addition, it is unclear what success the communists will have in the next election, so long term planning is very difficult because the future is so unpredictable. Despite an ambitions privatization program, many of the large factories remain state owned, partly because of the fact that their outdated and inefficient production would immediately and properly put them out of business under a free market. However, because the government has so much influence over the banks, it keeps funding these inefficient enterprises to earn the support of the many workers they hire. Many of the factories that were privatized, simply signed ownership to their communist bosses, and because of their pull with the government, stay alive by government aid. Despite all the issues mentioned above, the biggest challenge to Russian economic growth is probably its monetary policy. The Russian central bank is a direct holdover from Soviet times and needs to change its policy drastically to adapt to a free market economy. In a capitalist economy, private banks serve to store money and provide investment to business. Patriarchy in Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility Essay Patriarchy in Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility Despite the fact that Jane Austen has become what Julian North describes as a conservative icon in popular culture signified by her depictions of traditional class and gender hierarchies, sexual propriety and Christian values, the novel _Sense and Sensibility_ provides, if not a feminist perspective, a feminist discourse lacking in Emma Thompson s film version (North 38). Julian North, noting that critics have often read Elinor s triumphant sense as validating an anti individualist reactionary viewpoint in which the self must submit to the moral and religious order of society, offers a contrasting opinion (39). Other critics read adherence to conservative ideology as a cover story ...for the implicitly rebellious vision ...of a writer acutely conscious of the confinements of patriarchy (North 39). This feminist reading of _Sense_ is most cogent when the reader is privileged to Elinor s own thoughts. Elinor s sense, manifested in her stoic silence and inner thoughts, contrasts with Marianne s sensibility, notably with her emotive soliloquies and dialogues, to offer a verbal resistance to their mutual misfortune. The discourse between sense and sensibility in the book offers a means to combat the misfortune the women in the novel suffer, and each temperament leads its possessor to ultimate happiness, even if sense is clearly favored. Similarly, the sisterly bond of the Dashwoods offers an alternative narrative to the traditional courtship romance. Deborah Kaplan acknowledges that several critics that the friendships of the women characters with one another are at least as important as their relationships with male characters and that these relationships sometimes seem[] to overshadow Sense and Sensibility s courtship plot (184). The death of Raleigh at the end of the play sums up his characteristics in the best possible way, his innocence is shown until his final moments when he compares the wound in his back to be just the same as getting kicked in a game of rugger . His death signifies much more than the passing of one soldier, added with Raleigh passing, the candle flame extinguishing, shows the death of society in 1917 and of innocence, showing how nothing could return to the way it was in the years previous to the war. After the raid which occurs near the end of the play, Raleigh s view on the war has changed after he witnesses the first deaths of people he knew. He questions as to how Stanhope can stay drinking champagne whilst Osborne s body is lying out there . Again this shows the audience just how naïve Raleigh is, as he has never experienced the loss of someone close to him and the effect that the war has on people. Despite Raleigh s innocence and weakness, he is determined to fight until the end, showing that his character (although naïve) has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. My Personal Statement Of Ecology For me to fall in love with science, and ecology in particular, has been a lifelong process. I was lucky to have experienced an early discovery of the joys and nuances of nature and this was supported throughout my youth and adulthood by teachers, peers, and most importantly, my family. My first memory, of seeing light filtering through swaying trees above me, is indicative of the beauty and tranquility that nature has provided me throughout my life. Although I have always had an innate respect and enjoyment of the environment, this feeling was amplified every time i would visit my family in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico. These frequent trips to a pristine environment were what ultimately changed my perspective on the world, my personal values, and led me to pursue an education in ecology. They were aware of the common names of every species, of how to grow what they needed, how to pollinate and take care of the soil, and how to raise and maintain animals. My family knew how to live off of the land while tending to it for future generations. My mom and her siblings were able to turn the soil to maintain maximum growth and could grow livestock to use the resources provided by them. They know which plants are medicinal and beneficial, as well as which ones can be deadly. These concepts, of being able to conserve the environment, are what I focus on learning now. When I apply the concepts I learn in my biology classes, such as on a recent restoration project in Baja California, I am reminded of what my family taught me to do from a young age. • 27. A Comparison Of Identity Theory And Social Identity What is identity? A loose definition of identity is a sense of who we are. So how do we develop or define our identity? Do we define it by the roles we play; mother, father, priest, teacher? Or do we define it by what groups we associate ourselves with; republican, atheist, professional? This paper will briefly discuss identity theory and social identity theory and then review the similarities and the differences of the two. Identity theory examines how social conditions mold our identities and subsequently direct our behaviors. In other words, society influences the roles we play and we behave in ways that meet the expectations of that role. For example, a woman who has a child identifies as a mother and then behaves in ways that are acceptable to being a mother in accordance with the social standards she lives in. In addition to this, identity theory states that the self is based on multiple roles; the mother can also be a daughter, an employee, a sister and a tennis player. In identity theory terms, these are called role identities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 29. Nude Photographs Censorship The relative immaturity of today s world has caused a great deal of calamity over certain issues. As an example, one main conflict has arisen between the general public of today and an artistic form that truly depicts the human body. This problem has arisen in museums of today, which by definitions are locations where objects of historical, scientific, artistic, or cultural importance are displayed. Nude photographs are appropriate, if not necessary in most museums of today because of their relative significance to our own backgrounds. Without going into too much detail, every facet of each human is different from that of another and neglecting that difference would be ignoring the artform that is the body. All forms of censorship seek to hide something from viewers, whether it be blurring nudity on television or excluding it from places of learning where it is studied and observed, museums. Nudity is appropriate in museums to the public, however, in some cases, it has been entirely censored. Several lawsuits have ensued and in some cases, the museums have won, and in others the cases have been dismissed at an early stage. Facebook even blocked the French art museum, the Jeu de Paume, for twenty four hours after it posted a nude photo that would come to be displayed. Freedom of expression is very real, and to censor this pivotal right by not allowing the showcasing of nudity in museums is technically a crime. Artists have the right to express themselves. Curators have the right to choose the expression they think matters most. And the rest of us have the right to see that expression, and judge those choices for ourselves. If anyone s offended by any work in any museum, they have the easiest redress: They can vote with their feet, and avoid the art they don t like (Gopnik 1). This quote taken from a Washington Post article puts the entire argument into perspective. It is the right of museums to showcase what they deem is of value and it not up to the general public to advocate for its removal. As long as the curator of any given museum deems a piece worthy for the general public, then it most definitely should be shown. It is hard for some to realize the difference between the seemingly pornographic and artistic. Yet, museums make the distinction and only house educational pieces, eliminating all of non historical, non scientific, non cultural, and non artistic significance. When controlled, it provides necessary heat, energy, and fuel for a consumer to use; however, when fire goes unattended, it has the potential to become a wholly destructive element. The more western states of America, such as Utah and Colorado, have repeatedly experienced this concept in its most devastating form: wildfires. A wildfire is generally considered to be difficult to control and fast moving, swallowing anything that lay in its path, including forest or human habitat. As human incursion reaches more remote areas in wooded mountains, wildfires pose a serious threat to high end homes and secluded cabins. Probably not, but if you were to ask Ebenezer Scrooge (from A Christmas Carol), his response to Christmas would be Bah, Humbug. Just after we finished reading the book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, last week, on December 1, 2017, my classmates and I went to see a live performance of A Christmas Carol at Actors Theatre of Louisville. The play was adapted by Barbara Field, and directed by Drew Fracher. In this essay I will be reviewing how well Actors Theatre portrayed the plot, setting, and characters from the book A Christmas Carol into a live play. A Christmas Carol takes place on a cold, snowy Christmas Eve in London, England, during the Victorian period in the 1840 s. The day started very cold, yet everyone was still joyful. I think the performance depicted the Victorian setting very well. I would describe the set very detailed and extravagant. There was fake snow falling from everywhere is the ceiling, and it almost looked very real to me. There was also walls that stood very tall and could turn to make the stage look like a whole new set. The costumes also created the 1840 Victorian mood because it was very old style looking, and ragged. You could tell which people were very rich at the time, and people who were not very wealthy by the style and condition of the costumes they wore. There was also great, loud sound effects, that set the mood the most when it would get scary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Black Mirror By Michel Foucault s View On Modern Society he 15 Million Merits episode of Black Mirror elucidates the view on discipline of cited humanities scholar Michel Foucault in its futuristic take on modern day society. Foucault claims that through the means of surveillance and observation, a natural order will take over sophisticated societies without much policing power. By establishing common behaviors in different settings, a high level of discipline can be achieved without effort. In many different commonly used places like schools, factories, hospitals and prisons, a similar examination takes place among workers, patients and prisoners, creating a similar and normal accepted behavior. In Black Mirror, the society runs smoothly without the presence of a central figure of authority, and this directly relates to the Foucauldian view on society. The use of advanced technology all around them creates the feeling of being watched, so with that panoptic illusion in the forefront, the behavior of the citizens follows all rules and codes of conduct. Measuring Reaction Rate Using Volume of Gas Produced Chemistry 12 Formal Report Measuring Reaction Rate using Volume of Gas Produced By John Doe 23th October 2012 Introduction An essential element of chemistry is finding reaction rates. This is because chemists need to know how long a reaction should take. In addition to needing to know the rate of a reaction at any point in time to monitor how the reaction is proceeding. Many factors effect reaction rates, two shown above include temperature and concentration. Concentration affects the rate of reactions because the more concentrated a solution the more likely collisions between particles will be. This is simply because there are more particles present to collide with each other. When the temperature is higher, particles will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In next reaction which took place at a temperature 10˚ higher than that had a rate of 39.5 mL/minute. Next was the reaction which took place at 10˚ below room temperature which resulted in a rate of 26.8 mL/minute. In the reaction that 20 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach solution and the temperature was kept constant, the reaction rate dropped to 16.2 mL/minute. Finally the slowest reaction occurred when 60 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach causing a rate of 10.8 mL/minute. The rate value changes as the temperature is changed. When the temperature increases by 10˚, the rate of the reaction increases by a factor of 0.12 (12%). This is again changed when the temperature is changed to 10˚ below room temperature. This results in a rate of production of oxygen, which is decreased by a factor of 0.25 (25%). When the concentrations were changed so did the rate of reaction. When the concentration was changed to 0.265M the rate of reaction dropped by a factor of 0.5 (50%) below the control value. Furthermore when 60mL of water was added to the bleach dropping the concentration too 0.132M the rate dropped by a factor of 0.7 (70%). Regardless of the many factors that lead to increasing crime rates, such as unemployment, or bad economic circumstances. This essay will examine the many factors leading to the exponential decline of crime rates in North America. This essay will demonstrate how unemployment and economic hardship does not always lead to higher crime rates, how the growing increase of new technology aided in the decrease in crime rates, and the result of government funded programs helping to reduce crime rate. These factors should be discussed because it illustrates the progress of the judicial system and federal government throughout the years and it shows that people most vulnerable to committing crimes may not always commit crime. Similarly, it shows that economic factors leading to crime in the past are not always the case due to positive behavioral changes throughout the years. The general themes of the articles are based on economic factors, technology, the justice system and people of certain age groups that are most likely to commit crimes, and how they all contribute to the major decline in crime rates over the years. For example, When people look to their own self interests, they contribute unintentionally, by means of an invisible hand , to the welfare of society (Smith 281). Smith talks about the invisible hand as a guiding tool towards supply and demand within a society and argued the division of labor generates wealth not just for that one person but for the nation as a whole. By selling products that are in demand, for the purpose of earning money people are engaging in within their enterprises. Additionally, the more demands, the more people want to invest, the more people need to work, the harder it is to find a job when the economy is at a low. Because Tom continues to experience the memory, again and again, his philosophic approach to understanding the grief and guilt attached to his abandonment of his mother goes beyond Hegel s aim to that philosopher s idea of Concept: Tom refuses to accept the situation as the corpse which has left the tendency behind (Kaufmann 10).
