MANAGING A GLOBAL TEAM: GREG JAMES
AT SUN MICROSYSTEMS, INC.
Overview of SUN Microsystems Inc.
Sun Microsystems I nc. (SUN) provided companies with complete information technology (IT)

had been to form global teams in order to provide excellent and prompt support to its client at any

There is a compensation mismatch a mong the French and the US teams. The French team complains
that they were less pay than the American coworkers by 30%. The American team dissatisfied they
had less vacation and more workloads than the French teammates as France had
strict labour laws. James had explained to his team that they had to accept the country based benefits

2.1.3 The UAE
The team members feared they would be deemed incompetent because they had consistently missed
deadlines. However, this ha ppen not because of their incompetent. In the Middle East, their culture

Migrant Workers In Canada
For over 50 years, farmers in Ontario and other provinces in Canada have met their seasonal labour
needs through the use of the Canadian Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program (CSAWP) by hiring
temporary workers from Mexico and other locations in the Caribbean. This program allows entry of
low to middle skilled farm workers for a provisional time of up to eight months of the year into
Canada each year. With current studies showing more than 1,600 migrant workers are in Ontario
primarily working for Horticulture employers. It brings to light that the participation of the foreign
migrant workers is essential in the agriculture sector alone. As fewer citizens of Canada consider
doing agricultural work due to the low wages and poor working conditions ... Show more content on

Issues and Perspectives), and Parrenas R. S. (Servants of Globalization: Migration and Domestic

on nationality or sex. In turn, has created a competition among the labor supply of countries. And
between the workers themselves based on social hierarchy, which both race and gender are prominent.
However, these articles perspectives have not adequately addressed the issue of the relationship
between how labour migration and the current economic policy in effect by the Canadian government
the CSAWP has on migrant workers. My paper addresses the issue of migrant s workers face in the
agricultural sector in Ontario but with particular attention with regards to the recent changes in
economic policies set by the Canadian government. Specifically, in my paper, I will be looking at the
challenges of migrating to Canada, and the lack of fundamental rights of becoming a Canadian citizen,
to show the difficulties that migrants face of being less mobile today than in the past. I will discuss the
power that employers have the choice of picking the migrant worker that they want in Canada. The
type of labour mobility they have within the workforce in Canada and juxtapose them against the
current economic policies enforced by the Canadian Government to reveal the previously
misunderstood connections between migrant workers and the challenges they face on a daily

Mission Statement For Cairn University
Cairn University is an example of Proverbs 13:20 which states, Whoever walks with the wise becomes
wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Surrounding myself with an environment of people
and education that truly put Christ in the center of their life and education is so important for me to
grow during this time of my life with Christ. Yes God does require us to go into the world and be
disciples (Matthew 28:19) but in order for us to do that we first need to surround our self and educate
our self with a Godly environment. I believe Cairn University is the perfect place for me to do that.

The Chicano Movement And The Civil Rights Movement
The Chicano movement is a Civil Rights movement that embodied the identification of Latino
Americans in the United States. In the modern day, most people wouldn t know about the struggle that
Latino s had to endure before being recognized by their diverse nature. However, the Chicano
movement, just like the Civil Rights Movement, was a significant part of equality within the United
States over the course of the past half a century. The Chicano movement had its roots dating all the
way back to when the United States were attempting their Manifest Destiny from which they went to
war with Mexico for the land now known as the south west of the United States. Ever since then, the
United States had been treating Mexican s and Mexican American s without a regard for their
existence. While Latino s are finally beginning to receive recognition for it s vast diversity, Latino s
nationwide still face the uphill battle against ignorance. The Chicano Movement aimed to gear
towards equality for Latinos as human beings in the United States. As recently as the 1930 s, Latino
American s were not allowed to attend the same schools as Caucasian American students. This caused
major outrage nationwide due to Latino Americans not receiving the same rights as their Caucasian
American counterparts. One major case that stimulated protest for educational change for Chicano
youth was Westminster v. Mendez in 1947. This case was brought upon after the child of Mr. Gonzalo
Mendez named Sylvia Mendez

Macromolecules In Biology
When someone thinks about life , he or she may think of humans, animals, plants, or anything that
may breathe. From a biological perspective, life is not only made from breathing. Life is created from
many different levels that when all comes to end, makes the biosphere. From smallest to largest, the
Hierarchy of Structural Organization will be explained. Atoms are the smallest particle that is still
considered an element. Atoms are composed of subatomic particles, which include electrons, protons,
and neutrons. At the chemical level, atoms are combined together which make molecules. The human
body contains four macromolecules which are molecules that contain a high number of atoms. The
macromolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. The cellular level contains cells,
which can be eukaryotic or prokaryotic. The cells make up what we call tissues. A tissue is a collection
of cells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, epithelial tissue works together to cover and protect internal and external body
structures. All tissues come together to create our organs such as our brain and heart. Our organs are
made up of related organs that work together creating our organ system. A few organ systems are the
muscular system, cardiovascular system, reproductive system, and the digestive system. All of the
things previously listed come together and make an organism! An organism could be a plant, or a
human. We all work together to maintain life. Organisms make up what is called a population.
Populations make up communities, which is when all species occupy the same area. An ecosystem is
made up of communities that interact with each other. There are two processes that the ecosystem
depends on which are the cycling of nutrients and the flow of energy (or sunlight). Lastly, ecosystems
create the big picture that is the biosphere. The biosphere is all of earth s atmosphere, water, and crust.

With any government is it possible for them to control the minds of citizens to believe that there is no
law of gravity or other scientific facts. The government can do this by brainwashing the people by
telling them over and over what they want them to believe and start taking away any information they
want them too. If this were to happen the people will never get to know the actual truth their actual

Smallpox Epidemic of 1775
During the Revolutionary War, one of the main fears were not the enemies bullets, but fear of disease.
One of the major viruses that people had to fear was smallpox. The continental army had more to fear
than the British in the fact that British had been immunized, and the continental army had not. This
was only the beginning of the problems from the smallpox epidemic that broke out in America.
Smallpox was most commonly brought to America during the eighteenth century by English
immigrants or recently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were, of course, several soldiers that secretly inoculated themselves. Smallpox struck the
Northern Army at Quebec, where many soldiers and officers were secretly inoculating themselves,
increasing the epidemic. According to General Benedict Arnold, some 1,200 of the approximately
3,200 Continentals in the Montreal area were unfit for duty, most of them sick with smallpox. By the
end of May 1776, the situation of Northern Department patients was almost sufficient to excite the
pity of Brutes, Large barns filled with men at the very heighth of smallpox and not the least things, to
make them comfortable and medicines being needed at both Fort George and Ticonderoga.
Washington could not afford to have a large number of his men incapacitated for a month, vulnerable
to attack by the British. Washington eventually instituted a system where new recruits would be
inoculated with smallpox immediately upon enlistment. As a result soldiers would contract a milder
form of the disease at the same time they were being outfitted with uniforms and weapons. Soldiers
would consequently be completely healed, inoculated, and supplied by the time they joined the

The Criticism Of George Jacobs
overwhelming evidence continued to be stacked against George Jacobs, and with spectral evidence
being the most riveting. Accusations against George Jacobs included nearly ten names. All ten or so
claimed similar things of George Jacobs. If they are not being physically abused or afflicted by his
specter, then they see the specter afflicting the others. Other men, predominantly of the Putnam family
began to testify to witnessing the specter of George Jacobs afflicting the girls. The primary witness
against George Jacobs was Sarah Churchill. Her witness accounts were at best hyperbolized. Margaret
Jacobs and her grandfather George Jacobs were both accused by Sarah Churchill. Margaret Jacobs
was only 17 when she was accused of practicing witchcraft. Margaret just a young girl at the time
confessed after being accused of practicing witchcraft. Margaret accused her grandfather and George
Burroughs because they were already among those that stood accused by other girls in the village.
However, Margaret s conscience would become her undoing. The burden of accusing others weighed
heavily on her. She would later recant her confession. Although her recantation did nothing to save her
grandfather, Margaret continued to proclaim innocence. She awaited being sentenced and eventually
death, but luck would be on her side. When Margaret was supposed to stand trial in her own defense
she suffered from a physical illness. Margaret s physically illness postponed her trial, and shortly after

A Research On Virtual School Curriculum
Central phenomenon (McMillan, pp. 52 53) The focus of qualitative research. Virtual school
curriculum could be studied and the central phenomenon would be who writes the curriculum and
what resources are included in the curriculum. Dependent variable (McMillan, p.39) The item that
responds to alterations of the independent variable. In my professional practice I would research the
effectiveness of virtual schooling with regards to standardized testing. In my experience, students who
exclusively learn through virtual schools do not perform as well on state mandated high stakes tests as
their face to face peers. The dependent variable for this study would be the test scores. Independent
variable (McMillan, p. 39) The item the researcher manipulates in order to measure changes of the
dependent variable. In the hypothetical research mentioned above, the independent variable would be
where the students were enrolled, virtual school or traditional school. Refereed (McMillan, p. 72)
Research that has been rigorously reviewed and recommendations made to the author from someone

Changes And Development Of Project Management
Changes in Project Management Abstract This report discusses changes in project management in
today s world of internet time and dominance of time to market. It also lays emphasis on alternative
development methodologies instead of traditional methodologies which should be adapted in order to
prosper in today s tempestuous environment. In this modern world, business needs are changing at a
fast pace and to confront these changes new and advanced development methodologies should be
practiced for success and growth of business. Introduction We all know that change is constant and
happens at an increasing rate especially in today s world which is internet time and where there is

Currently, business processes are more complex and interconnected than ever before and they discard
traditional organizational structures (Hass 2016). By using alternative methodologies instead of
traditional ones, organizations can handle exceptional changes, time to market compression, rapidly
changing technologies and increasing complexity at every turn (Hass 2016). Overview of Traditional
Methodologies Traditional methodologies are characterized by a sequential series of steps like
requirement definition, planning, building, testing and deployment (Optimus Information 2016). There
are various traditional methodologies but three most substantial ones are Waterfall, Spiral Model and
Unified Process (Awad 2005, p. 3). Waterfall Royce presented this SDLC and it comprises of
sequential completion of every phase before moving on to next phase. It is kind of impractical
methodology because waterfall states that requirements should be fully completed followed by
completion of analysis and design (Aitken Ilango 2013, p. 4752). It doesn t give the leverage in
modification of requirements during later stages. Spiral Model It combines prototyping and design in
order to get advantages of bottom up as well top down notions. It is an advanced form of waterfall
method. The four main phases include objective setting, risk assessment,

Roman Empire Vs Greek Empire
The Roman Empire versus the Greek Empire
Introduction
The Greece and the Roman empires are considered to be amongst the most powerful empires in
history as their impact is still felt some 2000 years after they were conquered. The Greece Empire is
said to have lasted for approximately 350 years while the Roman Empire is said to have lasted for
between 500 and 1500 years based on how one interprets the rule of the Romans (Ahbel Rappe 530).
Over time, there has been a debate on which of the two empires was strong than the other based on the
impacts to the ancient world. From the debates, it has been noted that some individuals hold on to the
fact that the Romans managed to develop a world that the Greeks only dreamed about while others
have maintained that the Greeks had built a better world than the Romans (Roisman 410). Based on
my knowledge of the two empires, I think the Romans were better than the Greeks thus making the
Greeks to dream of building a world similar to that of Romans. As such, this paper will give points for
and against my claim.
Why the Greeks dreamt of the Roman World
There are some reasons that are given to explain why the Greeks dreamt of having what the Romans
had built over time. Firstly, it is important to note that the Greeks are the people who invented
philosophy and science. On the other hand, despite having great philosophers and scientists, the
Romans produced engineers, administrators, and architects, unlike the Greeks. As a result of this,

Importance Of Religion In Puritan Society
During the Puritan Era of American history, religion was ingrained in every aspects of society.
Literature written in or set in that time shows how religion impacted daily life. Many famous pieces,
including The Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, and Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God clearly shows
the harsh Calvinist ideals of the Puritan Age. These famous works depict the Puritan s strict social
justices, a gospel based legal system, and an overall societal fear of displeasing an unseen power in
any way. Every text set in this time can be characterized by its substantial theme of religion and God.
Historians have said that the Puritan laws and restrictions were some of the harshest in all of the early
American colonies. The people back then firmly believed that words of God were law, and any who
deviated from them deserved to be punished. This harsh punishment is a major theme in The Scarlet
Letter. The first pages of the novel depict Hester Prynne s punishment for committing adultery and
having a bastard child. For this crime, Hester is confined in prison, put on display on the scaffolding,
moved into insolation, and for the remainder of her life she is forced to wear, [o]n the breast of her
gown, in fine red cloth surrounded with an elaborate embroidery and fantastic flourishes of gold
thread, ... the letter A . (Hawthorne 51) This severe punishment, for what today is not even considered
a crime, was justified to the Puritans because of their unwavering belief in the rules of the Bible. In the
Puritan Era, there was no laws that separated the church and state. Rather, in tiis time the church was
the state. Government officials were elected to implement the laws of God and this system of humans
enforcing of the Bible carried into their judicial system. The Crucible is centered around the Salem
witch trials. People were sent to hang because of the testimonies of a few young girls. Though there
was no evidence other than the girls claims, the judges firmly believed that those accused of witchcraft
were guilty. This hysteria continued for many months, causing about twenty innocent people to be
hanged. The main reason for this prolonged insanity is the major flaws in the court system. Danforth,

In the 1968 art exhibition Cybernetic Serendipity L. D. Harmon and K. C. Knowlton take a simple
picture of two birds flying in the sky and computer generated the photography by converting electrical
signals into numerical representations on magnetic tape, this then provides a digital version of the

he uses perception is a great deal of his art works. Albrecht Durer s artworks were very diverse and
vibrant, they also included modern ways of creativity and originality. Durer was a huge example of
originality which made his drawing A draughtsman drawing a portrait so spectacular because it had

Generosity And Values Of The Epic Of Beowulf
The Anglo Saxons were a people who lived in England during the fifth century. They strongly
believed in fate and valued traits such as courage, generosity, faithfulness and, most importantly,
strength. This is shown through the many epic poems that were composed and performed by the Anglo
Saxons during this time period. One of the most well known epics Beowulf, celebrates the deeds of
the legendary and heroic Geat warrior named Beowulf. In Beowulf, physical strength is the defining
factor of a warrior s worth.
One instance of the connection between physical strength and worth illustrated in Beowulf occurs
when Beowulf battles Grendel. When news spreads of a horrific monster terrorizing Denmark,
Beowulf is quick to step up to the challenge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept is reiterated when King Hrothgar tells Beowulf, [His] fame is everywhere... / Reaches to
the end of the earth, and [he] hold[s] it in [his] heart wisely, / Patient with [his] strength upon
discovering Beowulf had actually won the battle (1703 1706). When Hrothgar discovers he and the
Danes had actually misinterpreted the situation and Beowulf was still a warrior of great strength, he
immediately returns to deeming Beowulf as worthy of praise and support, illustrating the clear
connection between a warrior s success and value. The drastic change in the way Hrothgar treats
Beowulf before and after he learns of the true outcome of the battle quite obviously shows how
strength is directly linked to how a warrior is viewed and treated in Anglo Saxon society.
The final relevant case of strength being used as the defining characteristic of a worthy warrior arises
when a dragon attacks Geatland. As the king of Greatland at the time, Beowulf accepts the challenge
and tells his people I ve never known fear... / I will fight again, seek fame still, / If the dragon hiding
in his tower dares / To face me. Then he said farewell to his followers each in turn (2511, 2513 2517).
The way the people of Geatland remain by his side while he claims to have the ability to defeat the
dragon illustrates how the Geats believe Beowulf is worthy of their support merely based on his
physical strength. However, as soon as Beowulf s confident claims of

Prostitution And Its Effect On Society Essay
For a free society to keep violent crime to a minimum with little disturbance on individual liberty,
government should, alongside prosecuting victimless crimes, minimize the opportunity for the corrupt
to create victims. Prostitution has been practiced in all ancient and modern cultures. In the United
States, prostitution was originally widely legal. Prostitution was made illegal in almost all states
between 1910 and 1915 due to the influence of the Woman s Christian Temperance Union which was
influential in the banning of drug use and was a major force in the prohibition of alcohol. In 1917 the
legally defined prostitution district Storyville in New Orleans was closed down by the Federal
government over local objections. In Deadwood, South Dakota, prostitution, while technically illegal,
was tolerated by local residents and officials for decades until the last madam was brought down by
state and federal authorities for tax evasion in 1980 (Weitzer). Prostitution remained legal in Alaska
until 1953, and is still legal in some rural counties of Nevada, including areas outside of Las Vegas.
Prostitution is the provision of sexual services for a negotiated payment between consenting adults.
Prostitution is a service industry like any other in which people exchange services for money or other
reward. No person s human or civil rights should be violated on the basis of their trade, occupation,
work, calling or profession. Additionally, no law has ever succeeded in

Increase Student Retention In Schools
Increased student achievement has been the focus of many school districts across the country in recent
years, looking at the level of student achievement, what is necessary to see an increase, and how to
afford it. The retention of high quality teachers is an extremely important part of the puzzle. Teacher
retention includes not only keeping the teachers who are difficult or impossible to replace, but also
weeding out the teachers who need to be replaced. This process of evaluation and incentives must
work together to attract and keep the best possible teachers in our classrooms so students can get the

When districts can give their teachers time to plan, reflect, learn, and collaborate, they are better able
to create an effective learning environment for their students. Lack of planning time is one of the
reasons teachers cite for leaving their jobs and even the profession. Daily plan time is the norm, but
other responsibilities can get in the way of being able to adequately use that time for planning and
reflecting on teaching. Districts can provide additional time such as late start or early out so that
teachers have the time to work with teammates and get the planning parts of their teaching completed.
Teachers, who have the time within the school day to collaborate with fellow teachers and have time
to plan quality lessons, will find their jobs more satisfying (Vilson, 2015). This time will increase
teacher retention by allowing them to have the necessary time to learn new teaching strategies,

unfortunate soul that has become infected. This specific virus can quite literally cause the liquefaction
of the organs within the human body. As Ebola takes hold of many villages and towns in West Africa,
surrounding countries are scrambling to send supplies and aid workers in an attempt to stop the spread
of such a lethal virus. The Ebola virus first made its way to the United States this past October,
sending many U.S. citizens in to a state of hysteria out of fear that an Ebola epidemic will occur on
American soil. As the death toll of the recent outbreak keeps rising steadily, only time will tell if the
virus can be stopped in its track before spreading across the globe to infect inhabitants in all corners of
the world.
Ebola belongs to the virus family Filoviridae. There are three genera in this family, which are the
Marburgvirus, Cuevavirus, and Ebolavirus (WHO, 2014). Filoviruses are encased within a lipoprotein
envelope that comes in a variety of different shapes, ranging from

The Black Church In The Film Red Hook Summer
(Response to Question 2) In studying the Black Church not only as an institution, but as a
transitioning tradition I have come understand the role it plays in the lived Black experience. It is
within the Black Church that one encounters a Divine that affirms and respects Black bodies,
communities, and cultures. And from that affirmation and respect, derives the societal call to address
the systemic oppression and disregard of Blackness. This statement and movement pivotal to the
Black Church tradition is rooted within the intersectional space of prophetic and pastoral physical
voices and actions accompany faithful witness to the gospel message. However, as pop culture (the

Throughout the duration of the class, I have come to understand Black Church studies as an
examination of the complex meaning of contextual theology in the lived of African American
experience theology rooted within the experience and social realities of the believer. Religious identity
being a force that does not consume the identity of the person, but is shaped and formed by the
cultural reality of the believer. It is within this dynamic that I have come to understand both traditions
that shape my personhood (the tradition of Catholic moral theology and African American liberation
ethics) call me to public resistance of the neoliberal aggressions that harbor the African American
community. As stated within Black Church Studies: An Introduction regarding liberation, We should
not understand liberation in the passive voice...Rather, we should construe liberation in an active
sense, in which the Black community is forever liberating in order that it may do more and be more
than it has done or been before. Within this statement, lies the obligation I have as a Black Christian to
participate in the resistance to the systemic movement(s) of reducing human life. It is within this
notion of bearing witness (participating) in the pursuit of a liberated world,

Astrology Signs
The astrology signs go in this order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio,
Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. You ve probably heard about fire signs, earth signs, air signs,
and water signs. These are the four elements. Twelve signs divided by four elements equals 3 signs per
element. If you start with Aries as the first fire sign, then just skip to every 4th sign, you ll see that the
fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagitarrius. Taurus is the first earth sign, then Virgo and Capricorn.
Gemini is the first air sign, then Libra and Aquarius. Cancer is the first water sign, then Scorpio and
Pisces.
So what does a fire sign mean? These signs tend to burn hard and fast. They start strong and then can
flame out just as quickly as they began. Do you know a person with a Aries, Leo or Sagittarius Sun?
Then you may notice that these people are a little more intensely emotional, whether that be in
happiness or anger. They may likely be more honest. And they may likely be more likely to take
action quickly and with no holds barred. These are generalities, of course. Other planets in a person s
birth chart can intensify or mute this fire Sun sign as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earth is much more slow and grounded. Much more practical and even tempered. Less likely to have a
very wide range of emotions and more likely to be stubborn and set in their ways. This goes for

planets in their chart that had lots of fire say Mars in Leo and Moon in Aries, then you would see a
better blending of emotion and action. If this same Sun in Taurus person also had a Moon in Virgo and
Mars in Capricorn, then you would be much more likely to see this earth energy in action in their

There is plenty of open space where one can have a picnic, so essentially your trip can be extremely
budget friendly. Another inexpensive attraction in downtown Chicago is their iconic Navy Pier. Navy
Pier is known as a tourist hotspot. It includes multiple retail shops, a ferris wheel, an IMAX movie
theatre, a crystal garden, a mirror maze, the children s museum, a number of restaurants, and is the
loading dock to luxurious cruise lines. Split the cab fare with friends to reach the pier and spend the
afternoon sightseeing. There are no fees to enter the pier or crystal garden but there are admission fees
for extra amusements for a reasonable price. After one the evening sightseeing they can either hop on
a dinner cruise or dine at one of the restaurants. After dinner on specific days one can enjoy Navy Pier
s firework show. On Wednesday and Saturday nights during the summer, Navy Pier hosts its very own
firework show free to the public. One can essentially spend the entire day enjoying all what Navy Pier
offers. Other inexpensive attractions in Chicago are the different museums and exhibits scattered
around the downtown area. On certain days throughout the year Chicago hosts free or discounted days
for students, military personnel and their families, as well as Illinois residents. These free and

DNA Technology Task 3 Poster
DNA fingerprinting, also known as DNA profiling, is a technique used in forensic science that
identifies individuals based on various characteristics of their DNA. Although the DNA sequences
between humans are 99.9% identical, DNA fingerprinting is able to distinguish between individuals
due to the presence of specific sequences within the non coding region of the genome known as
satellite DNA. This satellite DNA consists of long stretches of DNA made up of repeating base
sequences known as short tandem repeats (STR). These STRs considerably vary in length between
individuals, particularly between unrelated individuals, allowing exact individuals to be identified.
One major use of DNA fingerprinting is in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the presence of negatively charged phosphate groups within the sugar phosphate backbone of
DNA, the DNA fragments diffuse through the gel towards the anode. The smaller fragments are more
able to penetrate through the gel and thus travel the furthest whereas the larger fragments travel a
shorter distance. The exact size in bases for each separated fragment in a given sample of DNA can be
determined by comparing each fragment against standard fragments of known length. This is
commonly known as a ladder within the laboratory. For the purposes of a crime scene investigation,
multiple DNA samples would be simultaneously run through the gel, Once separated, a DNA
fragmentation pattern is produced that allows the criminal to be identified. As shown in the figure
below, a DNA sample obtained from the crime scene is compared to two possible suspects. The
pattern of suspect 1 more closely matches the pattern of the DNA obtained from the crime scene thus
allowing the true criminal to be correctly identified. Similarly, for paternal testing, the DNA samples
of the mother and child are compared to the potential fathers. The fragmentation pattern of the child
should resemble both the mother and true father as half of child s alleles are inherited from the mother
and father. Male 1 resembled the child s

Port-Au-Au-Prince Haiti
Stepping off the plane in Port Au Prince, Haiti, a certain nervous and excitement feeling rushes
through the body as Haiti greets with its intense heat. Port Au Prince is the capital of Haiti, and when
thought of, a capitol looks like a nice city with wealthy people walking around to their busy jobs. In
Port Au Prince however, jumbles of people run around with rags for clothes, sitting on the side of the
street trying to sell to us wealthy Americans (or so they call us and so they think) what they can.
Driving out of the city there are seldom any cars but there are motorcycles and dirtbikes in which the
Haitians will pile on five people to get around. The children run up and greet people as if they have

Going to Haiti is an incredible adventure and it really puts in perspective how much I take for granted
everyday. Most Haitians my age have no bed to sleep on, a small shack which they call home and
share with their extensive families, and not a clue what they are going to do that day when they wake
up. In a way, which may sound selfish, I wish to live like them to feel what it s like to always be
happy and full of spirit regardless of the food they eat or the clothes on their backs. I have many
memories and experiences similar to the ones shared and I had moments like those spent with Kata
and the man during village ministry every day with various Haitians. The Haitians impact my life
more and more every second I am there, and even though Haiti may seem like the poorest country in
the world and the mosquitos are horrible, and the heat could drive one mad, I will always choose Haiti
over any other place in the world as my happy place, and there is not a place I d rather be than

Example Of Political Cartoon
In his 1988 Supreme Court opinion in Hustler Magazine v. Falwell, the late Chief Justice Rehnquist
argued, the art of the cartoonist is often not reasoned or evenhanded, but slashing and one sided...the
political cartoon is a weapon of attack, of scorn and ridicule and satire...it is usually as welcome as a
bee sting . Despite these biting words, the Court ruled that political cartoons are essential tools in a
democracy. Political cartoons are inherently controversial, as they seek to mock both the legal and
governmental process. However, they are also inherently American, as they reflect the core tenets of
the First Amendment, the right to free speech, and expression. In this paper, I will analyze a political
cartoon, created by the artist Paul Conrad in 1972 for the Los Angeles Times. I will first provide a
description of the cartoon, its relevance at the time, and the political salience that it still maintains
today. Secondly, I will examine this cartoon through five intersecting lens: the efficacy of visual
rhetoric/graphic discourse, materiality, technology/modernity, power, and institutional/male
domination. Through these lenses, I will trace my object s physical and ideological genealogy, and
examine its social, political, and historical significance in contemporary culture. This object came to
the archive in a collection of political cartoons and was clipped from the Los Angeles Times. The
collector probably saved a series of Los Angeles Times political cartoons,

Theme Of Sin And Redemption In The Kite Runner
In Khaled Hosseini s Kite Runner, Amir says I became what I am today at the age of twelve... But it s
wrong what they say about the past, I ve learned, about how you can bury it. Because the past claws
its way out. Looking back now I realise I have been peeking into that deserted alley for the last twenty
six years... It was my past of unatoned sins . Sin is like an albatross around ones neck and atonement
is the only way to redeem oneself. This means that when one commits a sin, they are burdened with
guilt and the only way to get rid of this burden and attain peace and redemption is to atone for one s
sins. Same was the case with Amir, his past full of unatoned sins kept haunting him even when he had

Different Theories Of Development Throughout The Lifespan...
The purpose of this paper is to explore the different themes and theories of development throughout
the lifespan and challenges of the characters within the movie There Will Be Blood . Although
maturation was the theme held by many theorists in the past as the reason for development, modern
developmentalist continue to study the development even though it confronts other significant themes.
However, theories of development have varied over time as well as the approach taken by each of the
developmental theorist. These theories have two functions, they comprehensively integrate knowledge
to account for the development process and provide behavioral predictors for testing. This paper will
examine the relationship of Albert Bandura, Urie Bronfenbrenner, and Mary Ainsworth s theories and
how they are applicable to the development of different individuals as they transitions through stages
of their life s and how these theories could be beneficial during counseling and interventions.
Movie Overview
The movie There Will Be Blood (Sellar, Anderson, Lupi, 2007) starts in the year 1898, in the middle
of nowhere, with Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day Lewis) all alone vigorously chiseling away in a chasm
he considers a mine, trying to find silver ore while keeping his shotgun near him. He soon uses
dynamite to blast the rock and while climbing down he falls and breaks his leg, yet he finds what he is
looking for, Silver ore. He then drags himself out of the mine and to surveyor s

Missional Hermeneutic Essay
The thesis of this paper is that a missional hermeneutic is an appropriate reading of the Bible because
it nurtures a listening engagement by the church that is crucial for mutual God conversation with those
outside the church. This paper will argue this thesis by engaging Richard Bauckham s book Bible and
Mission as a framework for understanding a missional hermeneutic. Bauckham s central theme of the
relationship between the particular and the universal, can offer keen insight as to how a missional
hermeneutic nurtures a listening engagement with local contexts. Additionally, via this framework, the
paper will show how a missional reading of the scripture develops in us a theology that moves us into
a listening engagement with our community and the world. Finally, key insights will demonstrate the
importance of a listening engagement between church and community and show the appropriateness
of a missional hermeneutic.

Surprisingly, he develops this hermeneutic, not by focusing on comments related to mission in the
Bible, but by looking at the action and purpose of God as narrated in the biblical story. God s purpose,
as Bauckham empathizes, results in the kingdom of God and he desires one to read the Bible, in a way
that takes seriously its missionary direction. Therefore, one can call this hermeneutical framework
missional. Missional describes something that is related to or characterized by mission, and Bauckham
is stating that, at its core, God s purpose or mission characterizes the whole of scripture and what one
knows about God. Consequently, this is the first critical piece of Bauckham s hermeneutic the mission

Blackfoot Tribe
Some may argue that Native Americans live a decent life with the aid that the United States has given
them. Americans feel that the reservations that Native Americans are given is the proper way to
respect their lands and culture, by allowing them to have a small portion of what was once all of their
territory. According to USA.gov, there is the National Tribal Preservation Program to help tribes
protect resources and traditions important to them. This provides Native American tribes with the
assistance that they need to maintain their way of life and cultural ideals. Yet Blackfoot Indians have

Human Nature In Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi
In Survival in Auschwitz, Primo Levi uses characterization to describe human nature, showing the
reader how human nature and the nature of Auschwitz contradict and manifest. Beginning with how
human nature manifests to Levi and transitions as it moves through the story. Firstly, in Survival in
Auschwitz Primo Levi begins to learn how our human nature manifests in the most desperate and
nerve wracking of times. Sooner or later in life everyone discovers that perfect happiness is
unrealizable, but there are a few who pause to consider the antithesis: that perfect unhappiness is
equally unattainable. In this short excerpt Levi uses thoughtful time to reflect upon this subject,
though common considering he is quite quizzical. He uses balanced syntax to form an antithesis, as he
even state in the quote. Furthermore, he is quite truthful in his analysis of happiness, in human nature,
we can never achieve the complete happiness or even complete unhappiness. Simply, we can only
reach a certain extent of content and a limit of depression. In a way, this quote characterizes our
essence of human nature and our unattainability of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

used thoughtful yet dumbfoundead tone, he was halted in amazement as to how one could harm

Migrant Workers In Canada For over 50 years, farmers in Ontario and other provinces in Canada have met their seasonal labour needs through the use of the Canadian Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program (CSAWP) by hiring temporary workers from Mexico and other locations in the Caribbean. This program allows entry of low to middle skilled farm workers for a provisional time of up to eight months of the year into Canada each year. With current studies showing more than 1,600 migrant workers are in Ontario primarily working for Horticulture employers. It brings to light that the participation of the foreign migrant workers is essential in the agriculture sector alone. Preibisch (The Other Side of el Otro Lado: Mexican Migrant Women and Labor Flexibility in Canadian Agriculture), Ronaldo Munck (Globalization, Migration and Work: Issues and Perspectives), and Parrenas R. In turn, has created a competition among the labor supply of countries. And between the workers themselves based on social hierarchy, which both race and gender are prominent. However, these articles perspectives have not adequately addressed the issue of the relationship between how labour migration and the current economic policy in effect by the Canadian government the CSAWP has on migrant workers. My paper addresses the issue of migrant s workers face in the agricultural sector in Ontario but with particular attention with regards to the recent changes in economic policies set by the Canadian government. Specifically, in my paper, I will be looking at the challenges of migrating to Canada, and the lack of fundamental rights of becoming a Canadian citizen, to show the difficulties that migrants face of being less mobile today than in the past. I will discuss the power that employers have the choice of picking the migrant worker that they want in Canada. The type of labour mobility they have within the workforce in Canada and juxtapose them against the current economic policies enforced by the Canadian Government to reveal the previously misunderstood connections between migrant workers and the challenges they face on a daily ... Surrounding myself with an environment of people and education that truly put Christ in the center of their life and education is so important for me to grow during this time of my life with Christ. Yes God does require us to go into the world and be disciples (Matthew 28:19) but in order for us to do that we first need to surround our self and educate our self with a Godly environment. I believe Cairn University is the perfect place for me to do that. • 6. The Chicano Movement And The Civil Rights Movement The Chicano movement is a Civil Rights movement that embodied the identification of Latino Americans in the United States. In the modern day, most people wouldn t know about the struggle that Latino s had to endure before being recognized by their diverse nature. However, the Chicano movement, just like the Civil Rights Movement, was a significant part of equality within the United States over the course of the past half a century. The Chicano movement had its roots dating all the way back to when the United States were attempting their Manifest Destiny from which they went to war with Mexico for the land now known as the south west of the United States. Ever since then, the United States had been treating Mexican s and Mexican American s without a regard for their existence. While Latino s are finally beginning to receive recognition for it s vast diversity, Latino s nationwide still face the uphill battle against ignorance. The Chicano Movement aimed to gear towards equality for Latinos as human beings in the United States. As recently as the 1930 s, Latino American s were not allowed to attend the same schools as Caucasian American students. This caused major outrage nationwide due to Latino Americans not receiving the same rights as their Caucasian American counterparts. One major case that stimulated protest for educational change for Chicano youth was Westminster v. Mendez in 1947. This case was brought upon after the child of Mr. Gonzalo Mendez named Sylvia Mendez ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Macromolecules In Biology When someone thinks about life , he or she may think of humans, animals, plants, or anything that may breathe. From a biological perspective, life is not only made from breathing. Life is created from many different levels that when all comes to end, makes the biosphere. From smallest to largest, the Hierarchy of Structural Organization will be explained. Atoms are the smallest particle that is still considered an element. Atoms are composed of subatomic particles, which include electrons, protons, and neutrons. At the chemical level, atoms are combined together which make molecules. The human body contains four macromolecules which are molecules that contain a high number of atoms. The macromolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. The cellular level contains cells, which can be eukaryotic or prokaryotic. The cells make up what we call tissues. A tissue is a collection of cells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An organism could be a plant, or a human. We all work together to maintain life. Organisms make up what is called a population. Populations make up communities, which is when all species occupy the same area. An ecosystem is made up of communities that interact with each other. There are two processes that the ecosystem depends on which are the cycling of nutrients and the flow of energy (or sunlight). Lastly, ecosystems create the big picture that is the biosphere. In this book if you disobey the big brother you will get tortured or some kind of punishment. Winston a quiet 39 living in Oceania who does not believe in the big brother although trying to hide it he disobeyed the rules and had to get punished. With any government is it possible for them to control the minds of citizens to believe that there is no law of gravity or other scientific facts. The government can do this by brainwashing the people by telling them over and over what they want them to believe and start taking away any information they want them too. If this were to happen the people will never get to know the actual truth their actual rights for things the people would believe that everything is normal and this is how it is supposed to be. One of the major viruses that people had to fear was smallpox. The continental army had more to fear than the British in the fact that British had been immunized, and the continental army had not. This was only the beginning of the problems from the smallpox epidemic that broke out in America. • 10. The Criticism Of George Jacobs overwhelming evidence continued to be stacked against George Jacobs, and with spectral evidence being the most riveting. Accusations against George Jacobs included nearly ten names. All ten or so claimed similar things of George Jacobs. If they are not being physically abused or afflicted by his specter, then they see the specter afflicting the others. Other men, predominantly of the Putnam family began to testify to witnessing the specter of George Jacobs afflicting the girls. The primary witness against George Jacobs was Sarah Churchill. Her witness accounts were at best hyperbolized. Margaret Jacobs and her grandfather George Jacobs were both accused by Sarah Churchill. Margaret Jacobs was only 17 when she was accused of practicing witchcraft. Margaret just a young girl at the time confessed after being accused of practicing witchcraft. Margaret accused her grandfather and George Burroughs because they were already among those that stood accused by other girls in the village. However, Margaret s conscience would become her undoing. The burden of accusing others weighed heavily on her. She would later recant her confession. Although her recantation did nothing to save her grandfather, Margaret continued to proclaim innocence. She awaited being sentenced and eventually death, but luck would be on her side. When Margaret was supposed to stand trial in her own defense she suffered from a physical illness. • 11. A Research On Virtual School Curriculum Central phenomenon (McMillan, pp. 52 53) The focus of qualitative research. Virtual school curriculum could be studied and the central phenomenon would be who writes the curriculum and what resources are included in the curriculum. Dependent variable (McMillan, p.39) The item that responds to alterations of the independent variable. In my professional practice I would research the effectiveness of virtual schooling with regards to standardized testing. In my experience, students who exclusively learn through virtual schools do not perform as well on state mandated high stakes tests as their face to face peers. The dependent variable for this study would be the test scores. Independent variable (McMillan, p. 39) The item the researcher manipulates in order to measure changes of the dependent variable. In the hypothetical research mentioned above, the independent variable would be where the students were enrolled, virtual school or traditional school. Refereed (McMillan, p. 72) Research that has been rigorously reviewed and recommendations made to the author from someone not involved in the research itself. An example of a refereed journal is The New England Journal of Medicine, which has an extensive review process in which five different experts review each submission before considering it for publication. • 12. Changes And Development Of Project Management Changes in Project Management Abstract This report discusses changes in project management in today s world of internet time and dominance of time to market. It also lays emphasis on alternative development methodologies instead of traditional methodologies which should be adapted in order to prosper in today s tempestuous environment. In this modern world, business needs are changing at a fast pace and to confront these changes new and advanced development methodologies should be practiced for success and growth of business. By using alternative methodologies instead of traditional ones, organizations can handle exceptional changes, time to market compression, rapidly changing technologies and increasing complexity at every turn (Hass 2016). Overview of Traditional Methodologies Traditional methodologies are characterized by a sequential series of steps like requirement definition, planning, building, testing and deployment (Optimus Information 2016). There are various traditional methodologies but three most substantial ones are Waterfall, Spiral Model and Unified Process (Awad 2005, p. 3). Waterfall Royce presented this SDLC and it comprises of sequential completion of every phase before moving on to next phase. It is kind of impractical methodology because waterfall states that requirements should be fully completed followed by completion of analysis and design (Aitken Ilango 2013, p. 4752). It doesn t give the leverage in modification of requirements during later stages. Spiral Model It combines prototyping and design in order to get advantages of bottom up as well top down notions. It is an advanced form of waterfall method. The four main phases include objective setting, risk assessment, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Roman Empire Vs Greek Empire The Roman Empire versus the Greek Empire Introduction The Greece and the Roman empires are considered to be amongst the most powerful empires in history as their impact is still felt some 2000 years after they were conquered. The Greece Empire is said to have lasted for approximately 350 years while the Roman Empire is said to have lasted for between 500 and 1500 years based on how one interprets the rule of the Romans (Ahbel Rappe 530). Over time, there has been a debate on which of the two empires was strong than the other based on the impacts to the ancient world. From the debates, it has been noted that some individuals hold on to the fact that the Romans managed to develop a world that the Greeks only dreamed about while others have maintained that the Greeks had built a better world than the Romans (Roisman 410). Based on my knowledge of the two empires, I think the Romans were better than the Greeks thus making the Greeks to dream of building a world similar to that of Romans. As such, this paper will give points for and against my claim. Why the Greeks dreamt of the Roman World There are some reasons that are given to explain why the Greeks dreamt of having what the Romans had built over time. Firstly, it is important to note that the Greeks are the people who invented philosophy and science. On the other hand, despite having great philosophers and scientists, the Romans produced engineers, administrators, and architects, unlike the Greeks. As a result of this, ... These famous works depict the Puritan s strict social justices, a gospel based legal system, and an overall societal fear of displeasing an unseen power in any way. Every text set in this time can be characterized by its substantial theme of religion and God. Historians have said that the Puritan laws and restrictions were some of the harshest in all of the early American colonies. The people back then firmly believed that words of God were law, and any who deviated from them deserved to be punished. This harsh punishment is a major theme in The Scarlet Letter. The first pages of the novel depict Hester Prynne s punishment for committing adultery and having a bastard child. For this crime, Hester is confined in prison, put on display on the scaffolding, moved into insolation, and for the remainder of her life she is forced to wear, [o]n the breast of her gown, in fine red cloth surrounded with an elaborate embroidery and fantastic flourishes of gold thread, ... the letter A . (Hawthorne 51) This severe punishment, for what today is not even considered a crime, was justified to the Puritans because of their unwavering belief in the rules of the Bible. In the Puritan Era, there was no laws that separated the church and state. Rather, in tiis time the church was the state. Government officials were elected to implement the laws of God and this system of humans enforcing of the Bible carried into their judicial system. The Crucible is centered around the Salem witch trials. People were sent to hang because of the testimonies of a few young girls. Though there was no evidence other than the girls claims, the judges firmly believed that those accused of witchcraft were guilty. This hysteria continued for many months, causing about twenty innocent people to be hanged. The main reason for this prolonged insanity is the major flaws in the court system. Albrecht Durer s artworks were very diverse and vibrant, they also included modern ways of creativity and originality. Durer was a huge example of originality which made his drawing A draughtsman drawing a portrait so spectacular because it had never been seen before. • 17. Generosity And Values Of The Epic Of Beowulf The Anglo Saxons were a people who lived in England during the fifth century. They strongly believed in fate and valued traits such as courage, generosity, faithfulness and, most importantly, strength. This is shown through the many epic poems that were composed and performed by the Anglo Saxons during this time period. One of the most well known epics Beowulf, celebrates the deeds of the legendary and heroic Geat warrior named Beowulf. In Beowulf, physical strength is the defining factor of a warrior s worth. One instance of the connection between physical strength and worth illustrated in Beowulf occurs when Beowulf battles Grendel. This concept is reiterated when King Hrothgar tells Beowulf, [His] fame is everywhere... / Reaches to the end of the earth, and [he] hold[s] it in [his] heart wisely, / Patient with [his] strength upon discovering Beowulf had actually won the battle (1703 1706). When Hrothgar discovers he and the Danes had actually misinterpreted the situation and Beowulf was still a warrior of great strength, he immediately returns to deeming Beowulf as worthy of praise and support, illustrating the clear connection between a warrior s success and value. The drastic change in the way Hrothgar treats Beowulf before and after he learns of the true outcome of the battle quite obviously shows how strength is directly linked to how a warrior is viewed and treated in Anglo Saxon society. The final relevant case of strength being used as the defining characteristic of a worthy warrior arises when a dragon attacks Geatland. As the king of Greatland at the time, Beowulf accepts the challenge and tells his people I ve never known fear... / I will fight again, seek fame still, / If the dragon hiding in his tower dares / To face me. Then he said farewell to his followers each in turn (2511, 2513 2517). The way the people of Geatland remain by his side while he claims to have the ability to defeat the dragon illustrates how the Geats believe Beowulf is worthy of their support merely based on his physical strength. Prostitution And Its Effect On Society Essay For a free society to keep violent crime to a minimum with little disturbance on individual liberty, government should, alongside prosecuting victimless crimes, minimize the opportunity for the corrupt to create victims. Prostitution has been practiced in all ancient and modern cultures. In the United States, prostitution was originally widely legal. Prostitution was made illegal in almost all states between 1910 and 1915 due to the influence of the Woman s Christian Temperance Union which was influential in the banning of drug use and was a major force in the prohibition of alcohol. In 1917 the legally defined prostitution district Storyville in New Orleans was closed down by the Federal government over local objections. In Deadwood, South Dakota, prostitution, while technically illegal, was tolerated by local residents and officials for decades until the last madam was brought down by state and federal authorities for tax evasion in 1980 (Weitzer). Prostitution remained legal in Alaska until 1953, and is still legal in some rural counties of Nevada, including areas outside of Las Vegas.
