The Master Of Suspense By Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock is an auteur who made fifty three feature length films in his career: all of which are
thrilling and captivating. He garnered the title of the Master of Suspense because he took delight in
frightening viewers (Lehman and Luhr 88). His legacy is still revered today because his works are
both financially successful and artistically acclaimed (Sterritt 1). Like any artists who has produced an
impressive amount of art, he has a number of distinctive styles and themes he uses in his films to
make them engaging. Common technical and artistic Hithcockian signatures that prevailing in North
by Northwest (1959) (hereafter referred to as North) and Psycho (1960) eliciting suspense and
engagement with narrative include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, of course, is a very common nature of auteurs, as Lehman and Leur points out in Thinking About
Films that collaboration does not prevent an individual from exerting enough control over the process
to shape a film (79). Each director has a different filmmaking process, and it is clear from watching
Psycho and North that Hitchcock s films have overriding obsessions that are explored in different
ways despite how stylistically different these two films may seem initially. The production and general
visual styles of both films are vastly opposites. North is a very expensive project involving many sets
(such as hotels, lodges, the United Nations Headquarters, train station, Mount Rushmore, and an
artificial forest), containing many extras, and indulges in the architecture of different buildings. It is
fast paced, colorful, witty, and includes a car chase, a fight scene, an explosion involving a plane and
an oil tank on a flatland. This film also has the luxury of capturing extreme long shots from the top of
the UN building to the vast landscape of the American farmlands. Psycho is more simple in all the
aspects mentioned earlier. While it is made one year after North, it is deliberately filmed in black and
white with only the necessary amount of sets and extras. Psycho allows Hitchcock to exercise his
stylistic chops as it evokes elements of noir;

Positive Effects Of Diversification And Globalization In...
The Effects of Diversification and Globalization in the Bahamas Diversification and globalization are
important to the wellbeing and financial stability of any country. These traits are valuable to both
individual and group strengths. Understanding these modules can affect the way people or
corporations manage their business affairs. To understand the importance of both diversification and
globalization we must first understand their individual importance. Let s first look at diversification.
Diversification Most individuals growing up in the country of The Bahamas have already in some part
become infused with diversity from their elders. Don t put your eggs in one basket , this is an old

Governments have the power and authority to open markets to foreign investors; when this happens a
free trade agreement is reached. However an individual or corporation can decide at any time to
improve upon their own mechanics on a national or global level. With tourism and finance serving as
the two major industries within the Bahamas for multiple years we have not had to trade or forsake
much to propel these products to a higher level. Moreover a vast difference between globalization and
its cousin free trade is; globalization is technology driven and it is not affected directly by government
decisions. Herein lies the want versus need parody. Because a person wants to compete on a more
grand stage they then make the necessary improvements so that they can grandstand on a mainstream
platform. Whereas the need is forced upon them more for the good of the people versus one entity s
gain. Now that we have a bit more food for thought let us take a more in depth look at some of the key
factors and ways that diversity and globalization affects the Bahamas.
Diversification of industries
Tourism has been the staple of Bahamian income for a vast number of years. Every day we see more
and more companies emerging within these Bahama lands. Probably the best known hospitality
employer in the Bahamas is the Kerzner International Company. What makes this company a
successful giant is their diversification strategies. Kerzner International makes billions of dollars

Cartesian Aesthetics
Journal 2 (Truth)
Introduction
Aesthetics and truth are interlinked as one induces the other. Aesthetics are the philosophy of taste and
beauty and vary from person to person. These determine the varying realities and truths for an
individual. The abilities of a person to identify beauty in things differ from another and this is why
truth also varies among people as it depends upon the notions and conceptions expressed in terms of
assertions.
What is Cartesian Aesthetics and how did/does it affect design? Use specific examples and explore
how the concept of aesthetics is linked to that of truth.
Cartesian aesthetics anticipated that Nature and motivation are same: the procedures that direct
science also direct the fine arts. One imperative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One was the reality of the senses. This is pertinent to the fact that reality of the physical world
includes all that is present in the society, whereas, the second reality is of the mind. The thoughts and
beliefs of an individual form a second reality and it is universal and unchanging. In the second reality,
conceptions of truth, ethics and justice come into play. Hence, the mind decides the truth of all things
by its thoughts and beliefs and no truth is more universal than that. Truth varies from people to people.
This is eminent in the photographs of any photographer. People see what they want to see in them and
various people can see various things in a single photograph depending on their thoughts.
A person is likely to ask many questions while watching a photograph while some people may ask
different questions3. This is photographers try to convey a singular theme in their photographs so that
the viewers could discern a certain conclusion from them. Although they may agree or disagree with
the conclusion of the theme, they are able to identify the thoughts of the photographer in the
photographs.

The Decision For El Salvador s Supreme Court
Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst different
levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments, groups, and
individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My chosen article, co
written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision for El Salvador s
Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human rights violations. The
ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is unconstitutional due to
violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is particularly important
because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from civil unrest. The amnesty
law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and effectively covers all crimes
committed by both sides during the war (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck). However, due to its contestable
legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador s Supreme Court decided to rule on the
amnesty s law constitutionality for the final time. This article is relevant in the context of increasing
global concern over human rights. More recent debates in international relations discuss the
importance of the individual over that of states and sovereignty, especially in a society in which
national and global boundaries are being transcended and constantly undermined. Multiple levels

Literary Techniques Used In Joni Mitchell s Song Big...
In the song Big Yellow Taxi Joni Mitchell utilizes poetic devices such as irony, oxymoron and rhyme
to convey the cruel ways that the environment is exploited. Joni uses irony in the second stanza of Big
yellow Taxi to shine light on the exploitation of the environment for financial profit. She writes they
took all the trees and put them in a tree museum, then they charged the people just a dollar and a half
just to see em. Trees come from nature and can be enjoyed by all, however by placing trees in a
museum and charging admission for individuals to enjoy it the trees are now in an unexpected
environment and become an exclusive object. The irony of the stanza may create a humorous effect to
listeners because it is contrary to what

The Man Who Would Be King And Things Fall Apart Essay
In Kipling s The Man Who Would Be King and in Achebe s Things Fall Apart two different cultures of
people view gods equally important. Both groups know that the gods will determine their success,
however in the characters of The Man Who Would Be King use the importance of the gods to make
themselves appear as gods, and in Things Fall Apart the characters know that the gods are important
for their success in life. My paper will examine how the belief in gods influences the characters of the
stories.
In Achebe s Things Fall Apart the Ibo people have many gods life and they believed the gods
determine their lives which influenced what they did. The Ibo people gave praise to their gods through
sacrificial acts. Unoka says, Every year... before I put any crop in the earth, I sacrifice A cock to Ani,
the owner of all land. I also kill a cock at the shrine of Ifejioku, the god of yams (Achebe 17). The Ibo
people felt that their crop success was determined by their sacrifices to their gods not by whether they
planted good or bad crops. The gods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Ibo people believed in the chi which is their own personal god that determined their destiny.
Okonkwo does everything he can not to be like his father, Unoka, who was seen as a failure.
Okonkwo thinks his father s chi was the reason he was a failure. It is said that Unoka had a bad chi or
personal god, (Achebe 18) which is why he amounted to nothing, but by believing in the chi Okonkwo
lived his life to prevent failure happening to himself, but he could not prevent his failure because of
his chi. Achebe says, A man could not rise beyond the destiny of his chi (Achebe 131) which means
that Okonkwo s evil or bad chi was always going to bring him failure in life no matter what because
that was his destiny. For the Ibo it was up to the gods whether they had a successful life not their hard
work; the more they pleased the gods the better their life would

The Consequences Of Emotions
Just like mortals, Gods feels emotions as well but they usually do not express them as much as mortals
do. They can feel anger, sadness, fear, happiness and love. However they do not express their
emotions, for it is seen as a weakness. Many Gods say that is is complicated, and they never want to
answer the questions of the younger gods. This lead to many of the younger ones misunderstanding
why they see emotions as a weakness. They did not know that these emotions may have horrible
consequences. For example, the young moon goddess Amaris made a terrible mistake when she
showed emotions for a beast. Divyesh, the god of the sun, cared deeply for his younger sister. He
worried that one day her emotions would lead to her death. He would ... Show more content on

Eventually they began to grow feeling for each other, bringing gifts to show their affection. Some of
the gifts would be them teaching each other things they knew. Others were things like flowers and
gold. Their love was a secret of course, for it was shunned upon to fall in love with someone not of
your species. One day, the young goddess fell ill, which shocked many of the gods. Divyesh wanted to
help his sister, but she wouldn t allow him near her. She became secretive and would never be around
other gods, even her own brother. This worried Divyesh even more, for he couldn t lose his only sister.
He went to check on his sister, but found that she was nowhere to be seen. He searched for her on the
mountain. He heard voices, one recognizable and the other, unfamiliar. He went to investigate, but
what he found angered him greatly, for his sister was not actually sick, she was pregnant with the child
of Isolde. In his fit of anger, he summoned his sword, which was engulfed in flame. He then attacked
Isolde, leaving his sister alone in great pain and to give birth alone. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO
MY SISTER? Divyesh exclaimed as he swung his sword at Isolde, who backed away. As Divyesh
went for another hit, it was quickly stopped by the hand of Isolde. Divyesh looked up to see that Isolde
was now a huge creature that towered the trees. It had a mouth that looked like a mouth of a whale. I

Financial Statements Of American Heart Association
The financial statements of American Heart Association convey valuable information to outside users
about the organization and how it utilizes financial resources. The objective of this essay is to identify
five things that can be learned about an organization from their financial statements.
The first thing that can be learned about every nonprofit comes from reviewing the Statement of
Activities and the following Statement of Functional Expenses. These statements describe a broad
categorization of the different program related services provided and the supporting services needed to
run those programs. Expenses related to these programs are defined as those directly relating to the
organization s mission or purpose. For AHA, their programs include research, public health education,
professional education and training, and community services. Supporting services are those that do not
directly relate to the mission or purpose of the organization, and therefore can be further split into
services required to generate future contributions and services to run the administrative side of the
organization. The Statement of Functional Expenses provides a breakdown of natural expenses
(salaries, rent, professional fees, etc.) by the different program and supporting services. This allows
the user to see a breakdown of the salaries expense number by program, fundraising, and
administrative staff. A common tool for comparing and evaluating nonprofits is to compare program
expenses to

How To Write A Personal Narrative
My family consist of my parents, my twin brothers Joshua and Jesus, my sister Marilyn and myself.
Growing up my parents were very strict. Our typical day was to go to school and come straight home
after school. We were not allowed to participate in any outside school activities because we did not
live in a safe neighborhood. As a result my siblings and I grew up really close to each other since we
usually only interacted among our self s. In our family my dad is the head of our house hold and he
was predominantly responsible for all the decision makings in our home. My dad ran his house hold in
a very traditional Mexican manner. No one ever questions his rules as a result there was very little
communication in our family. This eventually led ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

me to drive even though he would take my sixteen year old brothers out every weekend for driving

In high school in I had a couple of friends that own cars and they gladly taught me how to drive
afterschool. Eventually, I acquired enough driving experience that I felt confident enough to take my
driving test. When I asked my dad to take me to the Department of Motor Vehicles to take my test he
said no . All he said was that it was just a waste of time since I did not know how to drive I begged for
over a month. Eventually, he said yes and I made my appointment when the day came for me to take
my driving test my dad was confident that I was not going to pass the test. To his surprise and mine I
was passed the exam on the first try. This was the first step in gaining my independence from my
parents. The next one was getting a car, again my dad said no . However, I was lucky enough that one
of my uncles was letting go of one of his trucks and he was giving it to me for my eighteen birthday.
At this point my dad said that if I wanted a car I would have to pay for my own gas and any
maintenance the car may need. Therefore, I needed to get a job and that is exactly what I did. I think

Theme Of Sacrifice In Hamlet
As the great American journalist Norman Cousins once said, The tragedy of life is not death but what
we let die inside of us while we live. Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, it is a commonly
held belief that the play is a legendary tragedy because most of the characters fall to their deaths.
Indeed, when Hamlet is analysed, many characters throughout the play meet their own demise which
helps advance this theme. However, when a closer look is taken, it becomes apparent that the tragedy
of Hamlet truly lies in how the characters live their lives. Foremost, Claudius is a secondary character
whose selfish actions, contribute to the tragic downfall of his character. Ophelia s tragedy is, likewise,
a result of her passiveness and poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Primarily, Ophelia accepts the social status placed on her by her father, Polonius, by obeying his
manipulative and controlling ways. For instance, when Polonius orders Ophelia to cut off all contact
with her lover Ophelia agrees to follow her father s orders saying, I shall obey, my lord. (1.3.141).
Ophelia s response can be seen as her acceptance towards the restrictions placed on her by her father.
In doing so, Ophelia displays that her weakness lies in her lack of assertiveness and willpower. By not
opposing her father and expressing her own opinions, she is following the stereotype of submission
and obedience placed on women during Shakespeare s time. Ophelia s betrayal of Hamlet is another
decision that leads to her downfall. When Ophelia is asked by Polonius to spy on Hamlet, she obliges
and attempts to deceive him. When Hamlet asks her where her father is, she shows her betrayal by
lying, claiming that Polonius is at home my lord (3.1.142). By agreeing to spy on Hamlet, Ophelia
becomes no different than everyone else who betrays Hamlet throughout the play. Ophelia even goes
as far as betraying her morals and lying to Hamlet in order to protect herself from the consequences
she might face if she confesses the truth to Hamlet. Ophelia s betrayal to Hamlet is a portrayal of her
weakness in her inability to face her own consequences.

Psychological Theories Of Personality
Personality is a topic that we have been discussing this past week in lecture. We have discussed

and determining what psychological theory is best for me. When looking at my own personality, I

saying that when it comes to opening up mentally and emotionally, there are only certain people I can
do that with. Outside of that, I am a very thoughtful and caring individual and will always put others
before myself. I enjoy laughing and caring for others. My parents always raised me to be a humble
person and to value my character and have good morals. I do not have a quick temper and am usually
an easy going. I just want to make everybody around me proud and that is what motivates me to this
day. If a person is not in my family or inner circle, there is not much that can be done to alter my
mood or mindset. I am just my own person that does not worry about what others say or think about
my character, values, or morals. As stated previously, we have been discussing personality in depth in
lab and lecture. We have learned about the five major perspectives of personality. These include trait,
biological, psychodynamic, humanistic, and learning/social cognitive. I feel like each one of these can
explain how my personality has developed and how it still changes to this day. The trait perspective
says that we receive certain characteristics that are influences from genetic predispositions. In simpler
terms, we get our personality and certain characteristics from our parents. When examining my

During this stage, the decision makers begin to see if they will get the return on investment they
initially anticipated.
Following a period of time, perhaps two or three years after approval, projects are reviewed to see
whether they should be continued. This reevaluation is referred to as a postcompletion audit.
Thorough postcompletion audits are typically performed on selected projects, usually the largest
projects in a given year s budget for the firm or for each division. Postcompletion audits show the
firms management how well the cash flows realized correspond with the cash flows forecasted several
years earlier. (Peterson et al, 2002)
The post completion audit serves to thoroughly analyze the initial decision to allocate resources to a
given project. If the project failed to meet established objectives this phase is often reffered to as a
post mortem analysis. By revisiting the project after an appropriate amount of time has passed,
decision makers can determine a project s success or failure. In the case of failure lessons learned can
be identified to avoid the same outcome in the future.
In creating a budget, decision makers attempt to forecast numbers as accurately as possible. Doing this
requires detailed assumptions regarding future costs and returns on investment. While historical data
can provide insight into future performance, it is by no means a reliable method that should be
expected to provide consistent results.

As young children, we all learn by doing. Toddlers learn to walk on their own with their parents
standing by as guides, providing a safe environment that makes it possible for the child to learn. When
a child enters the formal education system, unfortunately this rich environment of learning by doing
often disappears. The education system is still stuck in the industrial age with classrooms more often

A well designed simulation meets all of John Keller s goals in the ARCS model (attention, relevance,
confidence and satisfaction). It presents a problem to be solved, allows the learner to make choices,
shows the consequences of those choices, and builds confidence in the learner when the problem is
mastered.
There are five major characteristics of simulations:
Simulations are problem based units of learning that are set in motion by a particular task, issue,
policy, crisis, or problem. The problems to be addressed by the participant may be either implicit or
explicit, depending on the nature of the simulation. The issues inherent in the simulation are not
textbook problems or questions in which answers are cut and dried and determined quickly.
Participants carry out functions associated with their roles and the settings in which they find
themselves. The outcomes of the simulation are not determined by chance or luck. Instead,
participants experience consequences that follow from their own actions. Participants experience
reality of function to the extent that they fulfill their roles conscientiously and in a professional
manner, executing all the rights, privileges and responsibilities associated with the role.

The Bolshevik Of The Soviet Revolution
The Bolsheviks success in the 1917 October revolution, gave them full power under the leadership of
Vladimir Lenin. Their aim after successfully overthrowing the Russian autocracy was to create a
socialist state. His[Lenin s] view was that socialism should be a society where the working people
control their own fate, a society organized to benefit the vast majority. This view was the foundation
for Lenin s efforts in socialist construction. In order to create this society they; formed a new socialist
government; introduced the first stage of communism state capitalism; issued a decree on land as
promised in their manifesto and focused on industrialising and collectivising in order to facilitate a
socialist state. However, problems which may cause failure in the creation of a socialist state include
the civil war for slowing down progress, the introduction of the NEP (a revert back to capitalism?), the
need to consolidate power and the brutal use of the red army.
The Bolshevik s first protocol was to create a socialist government. Lenin began by replacing the
government of the capitalist class with the rule of the working people. This new socialist government
was compiled of mass organizations called Soviets, councils democratically elected by workers,
peasants and soldiers. One of the key functions of the socialist government, in Lenin s view, was
guaranteeing democracy for the working people. As opposed to a capitalist government which exists

More research is needed to examine the perceptions selection officials have in regards to various
aspects of assessment method, specifically administration mediums, to examine the generalizability of
the findings by Lievens et al. (2005), and investigate whether these relationships are affected by other

Wilberforce was not only an abolitionist, he also was a philanthropist and a politician. In March of

which he announced himself to the assembled freeholders. This brought him much public attention, in
which he emerged as a compromise Pittite candidate. On April 6th, he won the election, and was a

My Experience With Real Estate And The Mortgage Crisis
My experience with real estate and the mortgage meltdown is very personal. The beginning of the
crisis happened around 2007 when I was in the 8th grade. Eighth grade was the year that my middle
school offered a trip to students to go to Washington D.C. and New York City. As a history buff and all
around lover of traveling to new places, I was excited to be able to go on this trip. No one in my
family had ever been that far across the United States and I was determined to be the first one. Not
only was I offered the opportunity to travel, something that I did not often do, but also the chance to
visit two places full of history and wonder.
My prospect of going on the trip of lifetime was halted by the real estate and mortgage crisis. This was
because my father is a construction worker.
My father works for a construction company that builds frames. How I describe this to others is: he
creates the skeleton for houses and without him, houses cannot become homes. When the housing
market crisis happened, my father s company lost customers and jobs. No one needed framers
anymore. No one was buying houses because no one could afford them and some were being
foreclosed on. The company lost business and had to layoff employees because the world was in
economic turmoil. My Dad stopped receiving bonuses that would pay for our Christmas presents, our
family trips, and would be home more often because there just wasn t any work.
This was a depressing time for my entire family but we

Prosecution Intimidation And Witness Intimidation
There are many reasons victims do no want to testify in court. Legal cynicism and witness
intimidation are a couple of the top reasons. One reason I feel is overlooked is witness intimidation.
Witness Intimidation is when threats are made by defendants to discourage victims or witnesses of a
crime from reporting or testifying. (Connick and Davis 439) If a victim feels threatened, they often
become hesitant to testify sometimes even to report the crime. With the right incentives, victims and
witnesses would be more likely to participate in the process of testifying against a defendant.
Witness intimidation happens in many forms, such as: looks, threats of violence, physical violence,
property damage, etc. If you commit a crime, you will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These programs are still new in the eyes of the justice system. Victims and witnesses receiving help
were more likely to appear when summoned than those who had not been aided. (Neubauer and
Fradella 236) Victims who are testifying against a defendant are authorized to receive protection,
whether inside or outside of court.
There are services provided to protect the victims or witnesses. When waiting in the courtroom, they
are entitled to a special waiting room, away and out of sight from the defendant and the defendant s
friends and family. By separating the defendant from the victims and witnesses, it lessens the change
of intimidation within the courtroom. Even victims and witnesses that are incarcerated have the option
and availability to be separated from others to keep them safe. By separating from certain groups,
gangs are not able to finish hits on a victim or witness.
Another way to keep a victim or witness in testifying is ensuring that everyone coming in and out of
the courthouse will be on video surveillance. By taping everyone coming into the courthouse,
hopefully it would discourage any intimidation within the courthouse. Also by having surveillance, it
would give the victims and witnesses a sense of security, knowing that anybody coming near them in
the courthouse is on camera.
One program to motivate victims to participate in testifying helps with compensating the victims or
witnesses. During the process of the trial and even before when

Thunder and Prey Essay
We as people should not mess with any animal in their own territory. In the stories A Sound of
Thunder and Being Prey , the main characters do not listen to this law of the jungle. In A Sound of
Thunder a man named Eckels ventures into the past to hunt the tyrant lizard. In Being Prey Val
Plumwood, a biologist, visits Kakadu National Park in Australia and becomes the target of a cold
blooded killer. These stories are very different but, very similar in setting, theme, and conflict. The
setting of the stories A Sound of Thunder and Being Prey are very different. Eckels, from A Sound of

This, in turn, messes up history and time. Killing one butterfly couldn t be that important! Could it?
Eckels says after finding the dead butterfly on his shoe. In Being Prey , Plumwood finds herself

our paths were strangely convergent, Plumwood says after getting attacked by the crocodile. This
shows that these two stories share a similar theme. The conflicts in both A Sound of Thunder and
Being Prey are also very similar. Both A Sound of Thunder and Being Prey have a man vs nature
conflict. Since the main characters in both have to eventually fight or run from an animal that is trying
to harm them. The stories also have a man vs self conflict. In Being Prey , Plumwood has to decide
whether or not to go into the park on the rainy day. In Being Prey , Eckels has to decide whether or not
to go into the past. Both stories have very similar and very different

Similarities Between A Barred Owl And The History Teacher
A Barred Owl and The History Teacher The poems A Barred Owl and the History Teacher by Richard
Wilbur and Billy Collins respectively, depict two different scenarios in which an adult deceives a child
about something in the world. A Barred Owl has parents who lie to their child about an owl who
waked her in the night, while The History Teacher tells us about a man who tries to protect his
students by deceiving them. Techniques are used by both poets to convey a particular tone. While
Wilbur s poem is more innocent in that it tries to soothe a child from the terrors of the darkness,
Collins poem is about someone trying protect something that is already gone in this case, the children
s innocence. In A Barred Owl , a girl s parents are consoling her in the middle of the night because an
owl had frightened her. The parents respond to her fear by telling her that the owl is merely asking
who cooks for you? Wilbur conveys this by using a humorous tone saying that [It] was an odd
question from a forest bird... using the word bird instead of owl. This makes the child have a more
generalized picture of what she is hearing; a bird instead of a horrid creature from the night. It also ...

After careful market research of some of the different phone markets in today s industry; the market
that was the most interest to the writer was the disability phone market. Of all the mobile phones
researched, none were found to have Braille included; only speaking activated commands designed to
send text messages as well as calling. The idea the writer proposes is a phone for the visually impaired
which has a sole purpose for calling people. The keys will be fitted with Braille so that the individuals
are able to effectively feel what number they are pressing.

Strategy
The push/pull strategy involves creating demand from two aspects; push strategy involves the demand
being created by the manufacturer s distributers, and pull relates to the manufacturer creating demand
via their own promotion techniques (Frazier and Summers, 2011). The brand will follow a pull
strategy because it is envisioned that demand will be created through advertising and an effective,
unique selling point. This is good because through a push strategy, it is sometimes required to
distribute a higher volume of goods, which is better related to a mobile phone industry with a larger
audience, unlike the niche, disabled market. Another benefit of this is that because the developing
brand is unheard of an unproven; preventing stock piling of products if they are not sold, saving
money. Although, a pull strategy will require a large investment for advertising, it is estimated that the
cost of production and potential stock piling outweighs this in fiscal terms. Relating to the objectives,
the pull strategy will aid the

When they feel like it is the end of the world, many people have trouble keeping a smile on their face.
Other people can continue to shine no matter how bad they feel. Those people can leave a long lasting
impact on the world. Princess Diana influenced millions of people from all over the world, and her
legacy will remain forever. Lady Diana Frances Spencer was born at home on July 1, 1961, in
Norfolk, England (Morton 70). Her parents were very ashamed that she was a girl. They wanted a boy
very badly to keep the Spencer name (Morton 71). Diana had two older sisters and one younger

(Morton30). Diana Spencer met Prince Charles when she was sixteen years old, while visiting with his

Diana always joked about how she should be more into Prince Andrew because he was around her
age, but she always longed for Charles. In 1980, Miss Spencer and The Prince of Wales began talking
about marriage. In 1981, Charles proposed to her, and she immediately responded yes. Her dream was

How Did Alexander The Great Influence Rome
King Philip ruled ancient Greece from 359 BC right up to his death in 336 BC. After his demise, his
son, Alexander, took up his fathers mantle and continued his work as a ruler. Thus began the reign of
one of the greatest rulers in human history, Alexander the Great, who ruled almost all of the
Mediterranean. Alexander s empire strectched from Greece to India, spreading Greek ideas throughout
and many cities were named after the great ruler. Alexander s reign only lasted 13 years, but his
impact has left a mark on human history as many cities throughout Asia, Africa, and Europe still bare
his name and the fact that his death triggered the start of a new era. Alexander the Great ruled during

The Hellenistic era ended in the year 31 B.C. with the battle of Actium, it was the final battle between
Octavian s army and Cleopatra s army. The Roman s not only conquered Italy, but it also had power

Actium, the entire Hellenic world was under Rome s control and Greece was controlled by various
rulers until it s independence in the 19th century. The new Roman era was one that will change the

Jesus Christ thus beginning a new world religion, Christianity. Now, every era in human history has

Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes and Johnny Tremain by Disney were both different, yet they were
the same in some ways, too. There were no extreme changes, in terms of the plot. Some things,
although, were left out of the movie that were in the book. The book definitely had more information
and detail than the movie. In this essay, I will be talking about the character differences, Mr. Lyte, and
the concept. I prefer the book, but I recommend the movie, also. One extreme change was that there
was no Dove, Isannah, or Pumpkin in the movie. Dove was a very important character. He gave
Johnny a cracked crucible on purpose when Johnny was breaking the law on Sunday. Johnny did it to

Summary Of The Conversion Of Saint Paul
The Conversion of Saint Paul The conversion of Saint Paul is a painting by Benvenuto Tisi, called il
Garofalo; oil on panel, painted in 1525. The painting unframed is 31 inches tall and 42 inches wide.
The frame of the painting is rectangle in shape and does not appear to have been created from one
solid piece of material. The outer end of the frame has grooves and the inner part seems as if it is made
from many tiny pieces held together or fitted together like a puzzle. The frame is a shiny, golden,
brassy color, which balances the colors of the paining. This painting brings to life one of the most
specular phenomenon that occurs after the death of Christ and during the persecution of the new
Christians or new believers in the church. Saul was on his way to Damascus to capture Christians
when he encounters Christ. This one miraculous visitation from Christ transformed Saul to not only
change his way of thinking about Christ, but this awakening encounter and Saul s subsequent healing,
immediately convinced Saul to stopped persecuting the believer, converted to Christianity, and change
his name from Saul to Paul. In this depiction, you find Saul stretched on the ground at the onset of his
miraculous transformation. It has been stated that the actual painting was in poor condition when it
arrived at the Yale University Art Galleria studio. It was covered in yellow varnish and showed signs
of flaking and cracking. Not only was the painting in poor condition when it

Interviewing a few of moderators in this community gave insight into how it operated. One member of
the group noted two key roles involved in running the administrative side of the community. These
two roles may sound similar, but they have striking differences that make their variation requisite to
the success of the community. The higher of the two being the Administrative, position or the admin
for short. The second role is the Moderator, or mod. During normal operation, these roles share many
of the same responsibilities of each other. That is, until one important event causes the significant

Contrast this with the role of the administrator. During high time, the administrators are focusing on
what the future of the group will hold. To conceptualize this, they will be participating in the social
image of the community. This may entail advertisements, interview results, website review, and
magazine publications. They ll be the ones imagining, after this event dies down, what will our group
look like? What will we stand for after it is complete? Who will we be? Together, these two roles are
the scaffolding for the governance of this community.
There are a few other roles below the moderator and administrator position, which play less of a role
in the administration of the group. The one such role to note is the community s database of
information editors. These individuals are assigned the role after speaking specifically to an admin
who will ask what section of the database they are interested in contributing to. The users are put on a
trial as well where all of their initial posts are reviewed prior to full release. Once they have access,
they are given the task to documenting pertinent information to the subject they ve been assigned. The
user will learn about proper documentation techniques, and will become an elder within the topic.

Homelessness Is A Basic Need And All Human Beings Essay
Shelter is a basic need and all human beings are entitled to it. Though some may have shelter, they not
find a home. Homelessness has become rampant throughout the US population. Each day more and
more people are reported not to have this basic need, sleeping in the streets and wandering all day
long. This has become a major area of concern for the government, social services providers and
social policy makers. The government through the US Department of Housing and Urban
Development has put in enormous efforts to combat the annual rise in homelessness but the situation
has not significantly been curbed. Last year, for instance, there were 92, 593 homeless people who
were reported to be chronically homeless. Although this is a 16 percent drop from 2010 statistics, the
current figure is enormous enough to give sleepless nights to policy makers and the federal
government. (US Department of Housing and Urban Development). This brings to question what the
real odds bedeviling access to proper shelter are. While there is interplay of numerous factors, key
among them is the rise in poverty levels. As the poverty index rises, so does the inability to afford
basic shelter units.
Many of the US state governments (majorly New York) have placed rent controls so as to make
housing affordable to its citizens. Landlords rent their housing units to tenants at government
controlled prices. This is done by the introduction on price ceilings and price floors. Tenants are
therefore enabled

Boom! Seventy thousands Japanese citizens were perished instantly after the first atomic bomb was

August 9, 1945, with the dropping of the second atomic bomb in Nagasaki, where eighty thousands

He wanted not only to avoid Congressional hearings, but also another term of office. His chances of
reelection would be a zero if it were known by the general public that he wasted money and lives of
American soldiers by hiding a weapon that could have ended the war more quickly ( Why did
President Truman Drop the Atomic Bomb 4). They also said that Truman should have chosen different
ways to compel a Japanese surrender instead of dropping atomic bombs into two cities. The most
obvious alternative is an invasion of American into Japanese mainland because Japanese was very
close to defeat. And the World War II was close to the end. However, according to historians, the
atomic bomb probably saved half of a million U.S. lives, not to mention the number of Japanese
casualties than the invasion. Moreover, Japanese was close to defeat, but not close to surrender.
Therefore, the decision of President Truman was necessary at that time. His decision was just for the
good of America as well as was to save lives of both American and Japanese soldiers. If the war was
prolonged, a lot of soldiers would die and the expenses would increase. In conclusion, it does not
matter the decision of Truman to order the dropping of atomic bombs was right or wrong. It matters
how effective that decision in ending the war and saving lives of soldiers. And history proved it. With
those two atomic bombs, the

  • 2. The Master Of Suspense By Alfred Hitchcock Alfred Hitchcock is an auteur who made fifty three feature length films in his career: all of which are thrilling and captivating. He garnered the title of the Master of Suspense because he took delight in frightening viewers (Lehman and Luhr 88). His legacy is still revered today because his works are both financially successful and artistically acclaimed (Sterritt 1). Like any artists who has produced an impressive amount of art, he has a number of distinctive styles and themes he uses in his films to make them engaging. Common technical and artistic Hithcockian signatures that prevailing in North by Northwest (1959) (hereafter referred to as North) and Psycho (1960) eliciting suspense and engagement with narrative include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This, of course, is a very common nature of auteurs, as Lehman and Leur points out in Thinking About Films that collaboration does not prevent an individual from exerting enough control over the process to shape a film (79). Each director has a different filmmaking process, and it is clear from watching Psycho and North that Hitchcock s films have overriding obsessions that are explored in different ways despite how stylistically different these two films may seem initially. The production and general visual styles of both films are vastly opposites. North is a very expensive project involving many sets (such as hotels, lodges, the United Nations Headquarters, train station, Mount Rushmore, and an artificial forest), containing many extras, and indulges in the architecture of different buildings. It is fast paced, colorful, witty, and includes a car chase, a fight scene, an explosion involving a plane and an oil tank on a flatland. This film also has the luxury of capturing extreme long shots from the top of the UN building to the vast landscape of the American farmlands. Psycho is more simple in all the aspects mentioned earlier. While it is made one year after North, it is deliberately filmed in black and white with only the necessary amount of sets and extras. Psycho allows Hitchcock to exercise his stylistic chops as it evokes elements of noir; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Positive Effects Of Diversification And Globalization In... The Effects of Diversification and Globalization in the Bahamas Diversification and globalization are important to the wellbeing and financial stability of any country. These traits are valuable to both individual and group strengths. Understanding these modules can affect the way people or corporations manage their business affairs. To understand the importance of both diversification and globalization we must first understand their individual importance. Let s first look at diversification. Diversification Most individuals growing up in the country of The Bahamas have already in some part become infused with diversity from their elders. Don t put your eggs in one basket , this is an old saying that we have all grown up with and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Governments have the power and authority to open markets to foreign investors; when this happens a free trade agreement is reached. However an individual or corporation can decide at any time to improve upon their own mechanics on a national or global level. With tourism and finance serving as the two major industries within the Bahamas for multiple years we have not had to trade or forsake much to propel these products to a higher level. Moreover a vast difference between globalization and its cousin free trade is; globalization is technology driven and it is not affected directly by government decisions. Herein lies the want versus need parody. Because a person wants to compete on a more grand stage they then make the necessary improvements so that they can grandstand on a mainstream platform. Whereas the need is forced upon them more for the good of the people versus one entity s gain. Now that we have a bit more food for thought let us take a more in depth look at some of the key factors and ways that diversity and globalization affects the Bahamas. Diversification of industries Tourism has been the staple of Bahamian income for a vast number of years. Every day we see more and more companies emerging within these Bahama lands. Probably the best known hospitality employer in the Bahamas is the Kerzner International Company. What makes this company a successful giant is their diversification strategies. • 5. Cartesian Aesthetics Journal 2 (Truth) Introduction Aesthetics and truth are interlinked as one induces the other. Aesthetics are the philosophy of taste and beauty and vary from person to person. These determine the varying realities and truths for an individual. The abilities of a person to identify beauty in things differ from another and this is why truth also varies among people as it depends upon the notions and conceptions expressed in terms of assertions. What is Cartesian Aesthetics and how did/does it affect design? Use specific examples and explore how the concept of aesthetics is linked to that of truth. Cartesian aesthetics anticipated that Nature and motivation are same: the procedures that direct science also direct the fine arts. One imperative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One was the reality of the senses. This is pertinent to the fact that reality of the physical world includes all that is present in the society, whereas, the second reality is of the mind. The thoughts and beliefs of an individual form a second reality and it is universal and unchanging. In the second reality, conceptions of truth, ethics and justice come into play. Hence, the mind decides the truth of all things by its thoughts and beliefs and no truth is more universal than that. Truth varies from people to people. This is eminent in the photographs of any photographer. People see what they want to see in them and various people can see various things in a single photograph depending on their thoughts. A person is likely to ask many questions while watching a photograph while some people may ask different questions3. This is photographers try to convey a singular theme in their photographs so that the viewers could discern a certain conclusion from them. Although they may agree or disagree with the conclusion of the theme, they are able to identify the thoughts of the photographer in the photographs. 3 Becker, Aesthetics and truth, 26 28. • 6. The Decision For El Salvador s Supreme Court Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst different levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments, groups, and individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My chosen article, co written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision for El Salvador s Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human rights violations. The ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is unconstitutional due to violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is particularly important because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from civil unrest. The amnesty law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and effectively covers all crimes committed by both sides during the war (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck). However, due to its contestable legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador s Supreme Court decided to rule on the amnesty s law constitutionality for the final time. This article is relevant in the context of increasing global concern over human rights. More recent debates in international relations discuss the importance of the individual over that of states and sovereignty, especially in a society in which national and global boundaries are being transcended and constantly undermined. In the song Big Yellow Taxi Joni Mitchell utilizes poetic devices such as irony, oxymoron and rhyme to convey the cruel ways that the environment is exploited. Joni uses irony in the second stanza of Big yellow Taxi to shine light on the exploitation of the environment for financial profit. She writes they took all the trees and put them in a tree museum, then they charged the people just a dollar and a half just to see em. Trees come from nature and can be enjoyed by all, however by placing trees in a museum and charging admission for individuals to enjoy it the trees are now in an unexpected environment and become an exclusive object. • 9. The Man Who Would Be King And Things Fall Apart Essay In Kipling s The Man Who Would Be King and in Achebe s Things Fall Apart two different cultures of people view gods equally important. Both groups know that the gods will determine their success, however in the characters of The Man Who Would Be King use the importance of the gods to make themselves appear as gods, and in Things Fall Apart the characters know that the gods are important for their success in life. My paper will examine how the belief in gods influences the characters of the stories. In Achebe s Things Fall Apart the Ibo people have many gods life and they believed the gods determine their lives which influenced what they did. The Ibo people gave praise to their gods through sacrificial acts. Unoka says, Every year... before I put any crop in the earth, I sacrifice A cock to Ani, the owner of all land. I also kill a cock at the shrine of Ifejioku, the god of yams (Achebe 17). It is said that Unoka had a bad chi or personal god, (Achebe 18) which is why he amounted to nothing, but by believing in the chi Okonkwo lived his life to prevent failure happening to himself, but he could not prevent his failure because of his chi. Achebe says, A man could not rise beyond the destiny of his chi (Achebe 131) which means that Okonkwo s evil or bad chi was always going to bring him failure in life no matter what because that was his destiny. • 10. The Consequences Of Emotions Just like mortals, Gods feels emotions as well but they usually do not express them as much as mortals do. They can feel anger, sadness, fear, happiness and love. However they do not express their emotions, for it is seen as a weakness. Many Gods say that is is complicated, and they never want to answer the questions of the younger gods. This lead to many of the younger ones misunderstanding why they see emotions as a weakness. They did not know that these emotions may have horrible consequences. For example, the young moon goddess Amaris made a terrible mistake when she showed emotions for a beast. Divyesh, the god of the sun, cared deeply for his younger sister. He worried that one day her emotions would lead to her death. He would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eventually they began to grow feeling for each other, bringing gifts to show their affection. Some of the gifts would be them teaching each other things they knew. Others were things like flowers and gold. Their love was a secret of course, for it was shunned upon to fall in love with someone not of your species. One day, the young goddess fell ill, which shocked many of the gods. Divyesh wanted to help his sister, but she wouldn t allow him near her. She became secretive and would never be around other gods, even her own brother. This worried Divyesh even more, for he couldn t lose his only sister. He went to check on his sister, but found that she was nowhere to be seen. He searched for her on the mountain. He heard voices, one recognizable and the other, unfamiliar. He went to investigate, but what he found angered him greatly, for his sister was not actually sick, she was pregnant with the child of Isolde. • 11. Financial Statements Of American Heart Association The financial statements of American Heart Association convey valuable information to outside users about the organization and how it utilizes financial resources. The objective of this essay is to identify five things that can be learned about an organization from their financial statements. The first thing that can be learned about every nonprofit comes from reviewing the Statement of Activities and the following Statement of Functional Expenses. These statements describe a broad categorization of the different program related services provided and the supporting services needed to run those programs. Expenses related to these programs are defined as those directly relating to the organization s mission or purpose. For AHA, their programs include research, public health education, professional education and training, and community services. Supporting services are those that do not directly relate to the mission or purpose of the organization, and therefore can be further split into services required to generate future contributions and services to run the administrative side of the organization. The Statement of Functional Expenses provides a breakdown of natural expenses (salaries, rent, professional fees, etc.) by the different program and supporting services. This allows the user to see a breakdown of the salaries expense number by program, fundraising, and administrative staff. A common tool for comparing and evaluating nonprofits is to compare program expenses to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Theme Of Sacrifice In Hamlet As the great American journalist Norman Cousins once said, The tragedy of life is not death but what we let die inside of us while we live. Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, it is a commonly held belief that the play is a legendary tragedy because most of the characters fall to their deaths. Indeed, when Hamlet is analysed, many characters throughout the play meet their own demise which helps advance this theme. However, when a closer look is taken, it becomes apparent that the tragedy of Hamlet truly lies in how the characters live their lives. Foremost, Claudius is a secondary character whose selfish actions, contribute to the tragic downfall of his character. Ophelia s tragedy is, likewise, a result of her passiveness and poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Primarily, Ophelia accepts the social status placed on her by her father, Polonius, by obeying his manipulative and controlling ways. For instance, when Polonius orders Ophelia to cut off all contact with her lover Ophelia agrees to follow her father s orders saying, I shall obey, my lord. (1.3.141). Ophelia s response can be seen as her acceptance towards the restrictions placed on her by her father. In doing so, Ophelia displays that her weakness lies in her lack of assertiveness and willpower. By not opposing her father and expressing her own opinions, she is following the stereotype of submission and obedience placed on women during Shakespeare s time. Ophelia s betrayal of Hamlet is another decision that leads to her downfall. When Ophelia is asked by Polonius to spy on Hamlet, she obliges and attempts to deceive him. When Hamlet asks her where her father is, she shows her betrayal by lying, claiming that Polonius is at home my lord (3.1.142). By agreeing to spy on Hamlet, Ophelia becomes no different than everyone else who betrays Hamlet throughout the play. Ophelia even goes as far as betraying her morals and lying to Hamlet in order to protect herself from the consequences she might face if she confesses the truth to Hamlet. Ophelia s betrayal to Hamlet is a portrayal of her weakness in her inability to face her own consequences. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During this stage, the decision makers begin to see if they will get the return on investment they initially anticipated. Following a period of time, perhaps two or three years after approval, projects are reviewed to see whether they should be continued. This reevaluation is referred to as a postcompletion audit. Thorough postcompletion audits are typically performed on selected projects, usually the largest projects in a given year s budget for the firm or for each division. Postcompletion audits show the firms management how well the cash flows realized correspond with the cash flows forecasted several years earlier. (Peterson et al, 2002) The post completion audit serves to thoroughly analyze the initial decision to allocate resources to a given project. If the project failed to meet established objectives this phase is often reffered to as a post mortem analysis. By revisiting the project after an appropriate amount of time has passed, decision makers can determine a project s success or failure. In the case of failure lessons learned can be identified to avoid the same outcome in the future. In creating a budget, decision makers attempt to forecast numbers as accurately as possible. Doing this requires detailed assumptions regarding future costs and returns on investment. Their aim after successfully overthrowing the Russian autocracy was to create a socialist state. His[Lenin s] view was that socialism should be a society where the working people control their own fate, a society organized to benefit the vast majority. This view was the foundation for Lenin s efforts in socialist construction. In order to create this society they; formed a new socialist government; introduced the first stage of communism state capitalism; issued a decree on land as promised in their manifesto and focused on industrialising and collectivising in order to facilitate a socialist state. However, problems which may cause failure in the creation of a socialist state include the civil war for slowing down progress, the introduction of the NEP (a revert back to capitalism?), the need to consolidate power and the brutal use of the red army. The Bolshevik s first protocol was to create a socialist government. Lenin began by replacing the government of the capitalist class with the rule of the working people. This new socialist government was compiled of mass organizations called Soviets, councils democratically elected by workers, peasants and soldiers. The new Roman era was one that will change the world forever with many wars and battles that shaped our history and of course, the birth and death of Jesus Christ thus beginning a new world religion, Christianity. Now, every era in human history has given us something that has shaped our contemporary world, the Hellenistic era gave us the modern library, but an era is named and timed not by the people living through it, but the historians who study it centuries later. • 31. Johnny Tremain Comparison Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes and Johnny Tremain by Disney were both different, yet they were the same in some ways, too. There were no extreme changes, in terms of the plot. Some things, although, were left out of the movie that were in the book. The book definitely had more information and detail than the movie. In this essay, I will be talking about the character differences, Mr. Lyte, and the concept. I prefer the book, but I recommend the movie, also. One extreme change was that there was no Dove, Isannah, or Pumpkin in the movie. Dove was a very important character. He gave Johnny a cracked crucible on purpose when Johnny was breaking the law on Sunday. Johnny did it to finish a sugar basin for John Hancock in the book, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Summary Of The Conversion Of Saint Paul The Conversion of Saint Paul The conversion of Saint Paul is a painting by Benvenuto Tisi, called il Garofalo; oil on panel, painted in 1525. The painting unframed is 31 inches tall and 42 inches wide. The frame of the painting is rectangle in shape and does not appear to have been created from one solid piece of material. The outer end of the frame has grooves and the inner part seems as if it is made from many tiny pieces held together or fitted together like a puzzle. The frame is a shiny, golden, brassy color, which balances the colors of the paining. This painting brings to life one of the most specular phenomenon that occurs after the death of Christ and during the persecution of the new Christians or new believers in the church. Saul was on his way to Damascus to capture Christians when he encounters Christ. This one miraculous visitation from Christ transformed Saul to not only change his way of thinking about Christ, but this awakening encounter and Saul s subsequent healing, immediately convinced Saul to stopped persecuting the believer, converted to Christianity, and change his name from Saul to Paul. In this depiction, you find Saul stretched on the ground at the onset of his miraculous transformation. It has been stated that the actual painting was in poor condition when it arrived at the Yale University Art Galleria studio. It was covered in yellow varnish and showed signs of flaking and cracking. Not only was the painting in poor condition when it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. What Are The Key Roles Involved In Running The... Interviewing a few of moderators in this community gave insight into how it operated. One member of the group noted two key roles involved in running the administrative side of the community. These two roles may sound similar, but they have striking differences that make their variation requisite to the success of the community. The higher of the two being the Administrative, position or the admin for short. The second role is the Moderator, or mod. During normal operation, these roles share many of the same responsibilities of each other. That is, until one important event causes the significant schism to occur. This event is known as, high time. High time for this group is when new members flock to the community in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrast this with the role of the administrator. During high time, the administrators are focusing on what the future of the group will hold. To conceptualize this, they will be participating in the social image of the community. This may entail advertisements, interview results, website review, and magazine publications. They ll be the ones imagining, after this event dies down, what will our group look like? What will we stand for after it is complete? Who will we be? Together, these two roles are the scaffolding for the governance of this community. There are a few other roles below the moderator and administrator position, which play less of a role in the administration of the group. The one such role to note is the community s database of information editors. These individuals are assigned the role after speaking specifically to an admin who will ask what section of the database they are interested in contributing to. The users are put on a trial as well where all of their initial posts are reviewed prior to full release. Once they have access, they are given the task to documenting pertinent information to the subject they ve been assigned. The user will learn about proper documentation techniques, and will become an elder within the topic. All this being said, what type of governance does the community incorporate to deal with deviant behavior? At a core the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Homelessness Is A Basic Need And All Human Beings Essay Shelter is a basic need and all human beings are entitled to it. Though some may have shelter, they not find a home. Homelessness has become rampant throughout the US population. Each day more and more people are reported not to have this basic need, sleeping in the streets and wandering all day long. This has become a major area of concern for the government, social services providers and social policy makers. The government through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development has put in enormous efforts to combat the annual rise in homelessness but the situation has not significantly been curbed. Last year, for instance, there were 92, 593 homeless people who were reported to be chronically homeless. Although this is a 16 percent drop from 2010 statistics, the current figure is enormous enough to give sleepless nights to policy makers and the federal government. (US Department of Housing and Urban Development). This brings to question what the real odds bedeviling access to proper shelter are. While there is interplay of numerous factors, key among them is the rise in poverty levels. As the poverty index rises, so does the inability to afford basic shelter units. Many of the US state governments (majorly New York) have placed rent controls so as to make housing affordable to its citizens. Landlords rent their housing units to tenants at government controlled prices. This is done by the introduction on price ceilings and price floors. Tenants are therefore enabled ... • 36. Truman and Atomic Bombs OPTION B You are a member of the editorial staff of the New York Times. You are to take a side and then write an editorial on Harry S Truman s decision to order the dropping of the atom bomb. HARRY S TRUMAN amp; THE DECISION TO ORDER THE DROPPING OF THE ATOMIC BOMB Boom! Boom! Seventy thousands Japanese citizens were perished instantly after the first atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Japanese still refused to surrender to Allied forces. On August 9, 1945, with the dropping of the second atomic bomb in Nagasaki, where eighty thousands people were vaporized, Japanese surrendered unconditionally and the World War II ended ( The Decision to Drop the Bomb 5 6). But was it a right decision of Harry S Truman to end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wanted not only to avoid Congressional hearings, but also another term of office. His chances of reelection would be a zero if it were known by the general public that he wasted money and lives of American soldiers by hiding a weapon that could have ended the war more quickly ( Why did President Truman Drop the Atomic Bomb 4). They also said that Truman should have chosen different ways to compel a Japanese surrender instead of dropping atomic bombs into two cities. The most obvious alternative is an invasion of American into Japanese mainland because Japanese was very close to defeat. And the World War II was close to the end. However, according to historians, the atomic bomb probably saved half of a million U.S. lives, not to mention the number of Japanese casualties than the invasion. Moreover, Japanese was close to defeat, but not close to surrender. Therefore, the decision of President Truman was necessary at that time. His decision was just for the good of America as well as was to save lives of both American and Japanese soldiers. If the war was prolonged, a lot of soldiers would die and the expenses would increase. In conclusion, it does not matter the decision of Truman to order the dropping of atomic bombs was right or wrong. It matters how effective that decision in ending the war and saving lives of soldiers. And history proved it. With those two atomic bombs, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
