Hello,
To begin with, I received my Assignment 3 feedback yesterday and I am very happy with the
feedback/grade I received. The grade itself was higher than that of the previous assignment
which made me feel good as it shows I am slowly improving in certain aspects of my writing. I
still need to work on my comma usage, review subject verb agreement and review topic sentences
for a summary paragraph. Next, I would like to talk about sentence variety, which I mentioned in
my last post. This time, I used a variety of sentences in my writing and it really made a difference
in the tone and flow of the paragraph, so I believe I ve grasped how to use sentence variety
effectively. I would also like to talk about MLA formatting, which I also mentioned

Introduction
For some people public relations is a very important, strategic element in the smooth and
effective function of the company. As Baines, 2004 stated: The purpose of professional public
relations is to create understanding. It is unlike advertising, whose main aim is to generate
awareness and sales, or propaganda, whose aim is to suggest what individuals should believe.
(Baines et al., 2004, p.6) Throughout my report I will be focusing on Pedigree company one
brand from the large corporate, giant Mars, Incorporated as well. I will be assessing how they use
Public Relations techniques to present and manage their image and reputation as a large
corporation. Pedigree is one of the world s largest and the most recognizable dog food producer.
Their products carry a wide range of different tastes. This ranges from dry to wet foods (canned to
pouched) and is intended for puppies as well as adult dogs. The versatile of products give the
opportunity to even the most demanding customer to help them find the perfect taste for their

Owen intends to shock us by presenting the reality he is feeling, this is why I had chosen this to

straightforward way, using words that convey ugliness and also shows the reality of war which

3. Can the need for unionization be eliminated simply by management being more attentive to
worker needs and being willing to provide employees reasonable working conditions and a voice in
decision making?
I believe that when management is threatened by a union coming, they are desperate at that
moment and would try anything to avoid it from happening. Therefore they are willing to try to
negotiate with nurses to help make them feel as though they are empowered (Huston, 2010, p.
293). However, this may only be a momentarily gain for the nurse, because if they don t unionize
management will go back to their old practices. An article called The impact of collective
bargaining published by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees
(AFSCME) states decision making authority with staff nurses without a union is exceedingly rare
(2011).
Unions help to increase wages, fringe benefits, better pension plans, safety, help keep RNs and
displace other staff during layoff (if at all possible), restrict unsafe floating, and ban mandatory
overtime and shift rotation (Huston, 2010, p. 291 292, and (National Nurses United, 2010).
Without a union many of these issues would still be in play today. Plus a union will go to bat for
them when needed, which was the case in a Virginia Mason Hospital when they tried to mandate
that all nursing staff had to get immunized (Rosenbaum, 2008).
