Call Money Market in India
A Financial Market can be defined as the market in which financial assets are created or transferred.
As against a real transaction that involves exchange of money for real goods or services, a financial
transaction involves creation or transfer of a financial asset. Financial Assets or Financial Instruments
represents a claim to the payment of a sum of money sometime in the future and /or periodic payment
in the form of interest or dividend.
The primary function of a financial market is to facilitate the transfer of funds from surplus sectors
(lenders) to deficit sectors (borrowers). A financial market consists of investors or buyers, sellers,
dealers and brokers and does not refer to a physical location. The participants in the market ... Show

Some deposits are repayable instantly on demand. However, the banks cannot instantly take the
money back from their borrowers. Banks keep some cash ready for meeting any demand from their
depositors but sometimes, the demand could be higher than the cash in hand.
During the course of the day, after taking care of all their needs, some banks may have surplus cash in
hand and some may have a deficit. The bank having a deficit will borrow money overnight or for any
period extending up to 14 days from bank having a surplus. The borrowing bank has to pay interest on
the borrowed money. Thus call money usually serves the role of equilibrating the short term liquidity
position of banks.
The call money market crosses international lines, with funding opportunities located in a number of
countries around the world. Because of the inclusion of international banking institutions, the role of
the brokerage firm becomes vital to the individual investor. Brokers will be aware of applicable
banking laws, and how those laws could impact the transaction. This knowledge regarding participants
in the call money market allows the firm to pick and choose among possible avenues for funding with
a level of efficiency that would be difficult for the individual.
Call money is also required by banks to meet their CRR requirements. They borrow money from other
banks and non bank entities to cover any shortages of cash on a Reporting

Bringing Adam Home Essay
Bringing Adam Home Book Review
Abstract
Bringing Adam Home review examines the story of the decades long investigation into the abduction
and murder of 6 year old Adam Walsh. The police investigation took 27 years to prove guilt of the
serial killer, Ottis Toole, who made multiple confessions to the murder. The book is written by the
experienced detective writer Les Standiford with the help of the retired detective Joe Matthews, who
finally found evidence of Toole s committing the murder 27 years afterwards. The case of Adam
Walsh has influenced the American society in the way that legislatures were made protecting children,
and practices were adopted helping find missing and potentially ... Show more content on

As Reve Walsh put it: It was a sad thing for this country that the fight had to be led by two broken
down parents of a murdered child (Standiford, 2001).
The authors underscore that it could not be said that the Hollywood department was incompetent.
Rather that the case was too difficult, and Detective Hoffman turned out to be too snobbish not only to
ask for help but also to accept help from Joe Matthews when he offered it not once. Hoffman was too
unstructured and ill equipped for such mind bogging case (Standiford, 2001).Det. Serg. Matthews was
a lie detector expert and an experiences homicide detective and, being hired by the Hollywood, Fl,
Police Department, he was very interested by the case and was ready to use his knowledge to solve the
case. Among other things, the difference in approaches of two detectives was that Hoffman was
obsessed with finding physical evidences linking Toole to the Adam s murder; while Matthews
believed that circumstantial evidence could make do in some cases.
That meticulous recount of all glaring mistakes of the Hollywood, Fl, police department and the
detailed description of their daily working life had its aim in showing that detectives work is far from
the glamorized TV series. Doing on a daily basis such boring chores as searching for a person who
moved and did not leave the new address, or surveilling a suspect for many days, exhaust detectives,
and the not very dedicated ones let things slide (Standiford,

The Portrayal Of The Theatre Of The Absurd Essay example
The Portrayal of the Theatre of the Absurd Throughout literature, much has been assumed and
gathered about the state of man and his purpose in life. Different poets, novelists, and playwrights
have employed the powerful tools of language to broadcast their respective statement to the literate
world. Many authors stand out for their overly romanticized or horribly pessimistic notations on life,
but only Samuel Beckett stands out for his portrayal of absence. As Democritus, a Greek philosopher,
noted, nothing is more real than nothing, a quote which became one of Beckett s favorites and an
inspiration for his masterful plays (Hughes 1). Beckett s works have astounded many through their
utter divergence from the typical basis of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beckett purposefully strips the setting of all elements of reality—namely time and definition. In
Waiting for Godot, his stage directions simply state, A country road. A tree. (1) Such simplicity
initially seems to muddy the clarity of the work, causing confusion as to the location and specifics of
the characters plight and conditions. However, as Daryl McDaniel constitutes, bareness of the set only
serves to create a complex fictional and highly theatrical world (McDaniel 1). As the play goes on, this
vague scenario also serves to make the work universal, due to the commonality of such elements in
nature. Similarly, although Endgame s plot plays out in a more confined and defined space, a room
with two high windows and two ashbins, the surroundings are bleak and undefined. Collectively,
Beckett s use of setting defies reality. Jean Jaques Mayoux elaborates on this point to clarify, a
realistic setting would spoil everything (Mayoux 42). Beckett s intentional bleaching of the set allows
for the perfect portrayal of the world as incomprehensible. The distortion of time serves to enhance the
incomprehensibility of Beckett s works. Not only does Beckett fail to specify a time period, the
element of time passage becomes unfathomable, implying the same about the world in which we live.
Waiting for Godot opens with the

Aquinas Humility Essay
The first tension, as previously mentioned, is the love of oneself the magnanimous person loves to do
good things, but finds satisfaction in being superior to others. Another tension that the magnanimous
person experiences is that although he desperately tries to focus his life on doing great deeds, at the
end of the day, he is left with emptiness. However, Aquinas believed that the virtues of gratitude and
humility in particular could overcome these tensions. In his writings, he brought up human
interdependence. At the essence, he believed all humans needed each other, and that this was a good
thing. He asserted that humans are not self sufficient, and we must be comfortable with this idea
because we are a part of a society in which even the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also believed that the virtue of humility could relieve tensions within the magnanimous person.
Although humility seems to be incongruous with magnanimity because one who is extremely humble
does not strive for admirable and outstanding goals, Aquinas argued that when these two virtues were
well understood, they were not just virtues that go together, but exist together. If one does not have
virtuous humility, they will not be able to obtain virtuous magnanimity. This is because humility helps
people create a truthful self assessment of themselves and helps them let go of passions and pursuits
that are not achievable, and instead seek goals that are achievable. Moreover, humility allows humans
to respect others by helping them realize that there are dimensions to each human being that only God
can see; true humility presupposes that each and every human has hidden yet remarkable qualities that
just cannot be perceived with the human eye. By being humble, serving others and maintaining
relationships with equality is easier to do for even the magnanimous person. At the core, Aquinas
agreed with Aristotle that magnanimous people needed to be courageous and eager to do incredible
things, but also believed that they needed to humble, grateful, and recognize that humans are not God,
nor will they ever be able to do what God

If either Sepsis or Diabetes deal come through, the firm will be at an excellent position, with an
assured firm value of $25 million and a complete control of the company for the owners. In terms of
choosing between the two deals, the Sepsis deal is more fruitful as we receive $5 million up front and
$108 million milestone payments after the drug passes the phase 2 test in the Sepsis. In contrast, the
Diabetes deal fetches $8 million up front and $80 million milestone payment which is too less. In
addition, the potential sales for Sepsis are $0.5 billion annually compared to $4 billion for diabetes. It
is not a smart decision if we give up large portion of future proceeds from selling Diabetes drugs.
Purinex only needs small cash to cover its general operating and R amp;D research costs; $5 million
up front payment from sepsis partner is enough for next 83 months. However, currently Purinex only
has $7,000,000 cash in hand and can only survive for next 11 months. If we wait for six months for
the partnership deals, we would lose the opportunity to seek angel investors. In addition, if either
Sepsis or Diabetes deal didn t come through during the next six months, then Purinex will be forced
into a down round. This will drop its pre money valuation to 8 million or even 5 million. The third
option is to raise a fund as much

Proso Millet as an Alternative Crop Essay
Proso Millet as an Alternative Crop
Proso millet, Panicurn miliaceum (L.), is a warm season grass that is capable of producing seeds
within a short growing season of 60 to 100 days (Boland, 2003). Proso millet possesses many unique
characteristics that make it a promising alternative cash crop for the Great Plains region of United
States. There is much potential for beneficial results if proso millet is further integrated into the
cropping scheme of the Great Plains. Reasons for looking further into proso millet include benefits in
crop rotation with wheat, and its characteristic ability to be used to produce ethanol, as well as other
products.

Proso millet is effective at helping control these grasses because proso millet does not occupy the
same growing season as these weeds, unlike winter wheat. Putting millet into a wheat/fallow rotation
makes it possible to produce two crops in three years. Proso millet requires little water, and has fairly
low nutrient requirements. Studies have shown that proso millet starts to produce seed after utilizing
as 6 inches of total water, as opposed to the 9 to 10 inches of total water use before wheat beings seed
production (Baltensperger). The main nutrients that may be lacking for proso millet production are
nitrogen and phosphorus (Blumenthal). It is recommended that a soil nitrogen test be conducted every
year before planting proso millet and that a soil test for potassium, phosphorus, and micronutrients be
done every three to five years (Blumenthal). Fertilizers should then be applied accordingly to the
results of the soil tests. Insect and disease problems are not very high in proso millet (Baltensperger).
Weeds, however, can be a problem in proso millet, and can cause drastic reductions in yields. The
herbicide combination that is used most often in proso millet production is Banvel and 2,4 D
(Baltensperger). Atrazine, which was used extensively in proso millet production, is no longer labeled
for use with proso millet, which has increased the amount of management and money required to
produce proso millet

Consumer society
Explore the claim that a consumer society is always a throw away society.
In this essay I will be outlining consumerism and claims that a consumer society is always a throw
away society. Consumption plays a big part in our lives and causes us to live in divided societies. It
may make us feel like we fit in buying new gadgets and clothes and also give us that sense of
belonging but we don t take into account what happens to the old items and packaging. People do not
want to look at the problems caused. I will use this essay with the evidence I have read ... Show more

We often question how our food and clothes can be sold so cheap, this all comes down to where it is
made or grown. Our clothes are made overseas in factories by women and in some cases even children
in unsuitable conditions. They work long hours and don t get paid much in return, it is said to be less
than what they can afford to live on and made to work extra hours. This is why large stores like
Primark and Asda can sell their clothes at such little cost. Some of the workers are said to be working
60 to 90 hours every week for as little as £17 per month. (Making social lives pg.88) The workers in
the factories are grateful for their small wage and would struggle if the factories were to close and
business was took elsewhere.
The growth of consumption has caused a large increase in rubbish. This is due to people having more
choice when out shopping. Many years ago women stayed at home and men went to work but now
that both men and women are out earning there is a lot more disposable income which ends with
people buying luxuries and upgrading items they already have. This results in the old ones being
thrown away. People are constantly upgrading and renewing items to better models. Mobile phones
bring out new models every year which people feel the need to buy to keep up with the trend and
because they want the newest gadgets on the street. Pcs have changed to laptops which gives the pc no
home except out to be collected on bin day. This causes a problem

Religion 1700s Religion
In the 1700s the extent of religion was not very vast and many people were prosecuted for their
religious beliefs, however there were colonies that allowed people to have their own beliefs and this
helped pave the way for religious freedoms in the colonies.
In the 1700s religion was heavily involved in nearly everything a person did. There beliefs were
strong and when someone told them differently they would be heavily punished for this. Many people
would not allow their opinions to go unheard, like Anne Hutchinson and many more. These people
would try to fight for their freedom for religion but they were mostly shunned and punished. The
Puritans were a group of very strict religious followers who would go to high extremes to make people
change religious ways. The indians were highly affected by this and felt the pain of being forced to
join a religion through violence. Another group of religious followers were the quakers, what
separated the quakers from other religious groups though were there tolerance for religious freedoms
within the massachusetts bay colony this was one of the first colonies to accept other religions within
their walls. This would soon turn into a movement of other colonies to follow in the steps of
massachusetts and not judge based solely off of one s religious beliefs. Another factor in religion
during the colonial era was the great awakening, this was an era in which people began to lose their
belief and church was seen as bland. In order to

Stimulus And Brand Selection
This study is an attempt to fill the gaps identified in the available literature on the association of
stimulus and brand selection. The present study measured the stimulus and its impact on brand
selection or purchase decision in the Indian online retail. To assess this relationship, different models
have been designed to investigate and measure the stimulus. For investigation purposes, a qualitative
model has been developed and presented in Chapters earlier. This model prioritized the various factors
of stimulus in context of the online retail. Next to this, the measurement aspect of stimulus was
addressed by the development of a quantitative model shown in Chapters earlier. This model has been
used to develop and validate the scale for the measurement of stimulus in the Indian online retail. The
present study comprises of the following: A broad and thorough literature review has been conducted
on the association of stimulus and brand purchase decision. The literature review consists of the
evolution and definitions of individual, technology and societal groups and brand purchase decision, a
classification of available literature, and various factors which constitute Stimulus in S O R model.
Based on this basis of this review, gaps, and a research agenda was identified which provided a sound

Goals Of The Underground Railroad
What was the Underground Railroad? The underground railroad was not underground, or a railroad, it
was named this because the activities that happened had to take place in the dark or in disguise.
Routes were lines, stopping places were stations, and the ones who aided on the way were conductors.
The underground operations relied heavily on secret codes to tell passengers when it was safe to travel
and when it wasn t safe to travel. The most active members who helped the railroad were people of the
freed slave community such as Harriet Tubman. The different lines of the routes extended in several
directions throughout 14 northern states and the Promised Land of canada. Typically, enslaved African
Americans who left plantations and cities in Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland,
Missouri, and Virginia were more likely to take refuge in the northern states, Canada and Western
Territories. Those who lived in the deep south often found freedom by escaping into Mexico and the
Caribbean. The Underground railroad was a system which existed in the Northern states before the
civil War that helped slaves escape. Slaves from the south were helped by sympathetic Northerners.
The ultimate goal of the underground railroad was to get slaves to a place of safety and freedom states
in the north and in canada. The closest the railroad ever came to being fully organized was in the 1830
s when abolitionists William Still, Robert Purvis, David Ruggles, and several others

Gibber s Motives In The Sniper
There is a wide range of opinions held on people who fight in armies. Some feel indebtedness, some
feel hatred. Some believe they kill for a living, and others believe they save lives. It is for this reason
that any well written army character must be complex, in any attempt to abstain from getting your
opinion . In the 1990s, there was a civil war in Ireland. Regular civilians took to the streets and fought
for what they believed. The story of The Sniper follows one of these people working as a sniper for
the Republicans. As with any well written character, this Sniper is complex. He has multiple

He revolted at the sight of the shattered mass of his dead enemy... He began to gibber to himself,

What happens after The Sniper sees that it s his brother that he just shot reveals some complicated

Matthew Arnold portrays an ambience of infinite sadness around his character whom is in an aquatic

poem reads The sea is calm tonight and this represents that he is indeed by the sea, and also the title of

without crossing the English channel. The character can hear the tides washing up and down the beach
as he stares off into the distance. He describes it as a the grating roar as the shells and other oceanic

Music Education Has On A Student
Music education is often pushed to the side in terms of academics. It is often the victim of many
budget cuts as it is seen as unnecessary and expensive. Looking from an outside point of view, most
fail to realize how much of an impact music has on a student. The only loss they see when cutting a
music program is that a student would simply no longer have the ability to learn an instrument.
However, music education proves to provide much more knowledge and skills to a student than that.
In learning any subject, a student learns much more than just that subject. For example, they might
learn to think critically, think outside of the box, or learn to see things in different perspectives. Music
is just the same. Any student gains much more than only the skill to play an instrument. In fact, music
is special. It is much different than what is regularly taught in school. It takes on a different
perspective of learning, but also, multiple aspects of a student s brain is needed in order to carry out
the function to learn music. In these sources listed below, these articles focus on how music education
does benefit its learner in many different ways. Music educated students excel not only in music, but
studies have proven that they do better in academic based subjects than those who have not taken
music classes. They gain skills that help them in thinking, learning, creating, and even perseverance.
Students educated in music receive much more than they expect. These lasting

Overpopulation Is Not An Issue
Overpopulation is not an issue many people in developing countries face at this point in time. Put
simply, overpopulation is the condition of having a population so dense that it causes environmental
deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a population crash (Merriam Webster). It should not be
taken lightly because it cannot be reversed in a short time period. Changes must be made gradually so
that future generations do not suffer consequences that current generations have place upon them. It
will be important to think about this theme in the future because of the issues it may bring up, namely
food shortages or lack of other natural resources humans need to survive.
There are various reason why overpopulation is occurring. One is due to the overall decline in death
rate on the planet. The discovery of agriculture by our ancestors was one factor that provided them
with the ability to sustain nutrition without hunting and, in essence, there was a large drop in injury or
death because of the fact ( Overpopulation: Causes ). This led to the first imbalance of both the birth
and death rate ( Overpopulation: Causes ). Another reason overpopulation is occurring is due to the
advances humans have made in medicine. After the industrial revolution, technological advances and
science was able to better produce food and prevent diseases ( Overpopulation: Causes ). In similar
fashion, immigration and the lack of family planning also contribute to

Why I Want To Be A Physical Therapist
Most people ponder what they want to do when they become an adult starting at a young age. Some
are passionate and have a particular interest while others may take a different path than what they
originally thought. However, no matter what career one considers, there will always be thousands to
explore. School is an opportunity for young adults to discover what interests them so that they may
find a career that leads to happiness. The first shadow I attended was at Cumberland Physical Therapy
to learn more about the life of a physical therapist. This career interested me because I had once gone

exciting the career appeared. The day started at 6:00 in the morning because the majority of patients

Signs Of Psychological Abuse
Child abuse is broadly defined in many cases as cruelty inflicted upon a child. There are many forms
of abuse that leads to a pattern of behavior that impairs a child s emotional development or sense of
self worth. Psychological abuse is common but few understand the psychological abuse definition
enough to spot it. Without the visible signs of physical abuse psychological abuse can stay hidden for
years. However, physical abuse is the most visible form of child maltreatment. Many times it results
from excessive physical discipline from a parent or caretaker in anger. Children of physical abuse may
display withdrawn or aggressive behavior, anxiety, depression, difficulty concentrating and academic
problems in school. The effects of both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Antonio Da Correggio Holy Night Nato Essay
Artwork is often used to represent and symbolise the Gospel and important figures to Christianity.
One of the artworks chosen is Holy Night Nativity Scene by Antonio da Correggio created in 1530.
This artwork focuses on the birth of Jesus and lays the scene of which he enters the world. The other
one is the Annunciation by created in 2003. This artwork focuses on the moment Gabriel tells Mary
that she is pregnant with Jesus.
The Holy Night Nativity Scene relates directly to the verse And she gave birth to her firstborn son and
wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the
inn (Luke 2:7). It is symbolic of Jesus birth and represents that although his birth was simple, he was
surrounded by love. This artwork links to the narrative dimensions of Ninian Smart s seven

Jesus is the brightest figure in the painting as this represent that he is the light of the world. It
symbolises that he will guide others just as the star of bethlehem guided the three wise men. The other
figures in the painting have a slight glow to them which symbolises that Jesus has touched them with
his spirit as he will do the rest of his life. They are all looking down at him especially Mary whose
sole focus is directly on Jesus. This highlights her nurturing nature and the love she has for him and
signifies just how big a part she plays in Jesus life and teachings. The allows the audience to
understand and appreciate the deep connection between Jesus and Mary. As Mary looks at Jesus,
Joseph is looking at the two of them adoringly. Although Jesus isn t his biological child, it can be seen
that Joseph is going to love and support him. This is a valuable lesson for Christian as it reminds them
to love anyone and everyone. This is one of the main aspects Jesus taught throughout his life as he
believed it to be of utmost importance.

A Reflection OfManifest Destiny, And The Monroe Doctrine
The term Manifest Destiny has been a paramount concept ever since its emergence during the time of
Andrew Jackson and his ideals of westward expansion for the United States. Prior to the term of
Manifest Destiny, the Monroe Doctrine of 1823 was in full effect, in which the argument could be
made that these two concepts are somehow correlated. The primary source documents such as The
Monroe Doctrine Declares the Western Hemisphere Closed to European Intervention, 1823, and
essays such as, Expansionist Ambition, Not Republican Ideals, will support the structure of this essay,
showing that there is a reflection of Manifest Destiny ideology in the Monroe Doctrine. Using various
primary and secondary sources from Major Problems in American Foreign Relations, this short essay
will argue that the Monroe Doctrine of 1823 was a reflection of Manifest Destiny ideology. Defining
the two concepts of Manifest Destiny and The Monroe Doctrine, will be the main element in this first
body paragraph. The term Manifest Destiny illustrates the principles that are given by God, in which
give the United States pure justifications that entail expansion for universal equality and American
greatness.1 In other words, the concept given by God, Manifest Destiny, describes America s purpose
to expand its natural borders, and to expand to areas that are unfit to govern. The Monroe Doctrine of
December 1823, declared that the hemisphere was closed to European colonization and to the

Major Discoveries in Electrical Communication in the 1800’s
The nineteenth century was a very prolific era of discovery in electrical knowledge and technologies
that laid the foundation for modern electrical communication. During this period of time the
foundations of modern electrically based technologies were discovered. The nineteenth century began
with a debate between Luigi Galvani, and Alessandro Volta regarding the source of electricity in
Galvani s famous frog experiment. These debates lead to the invention of the battery by Volta, and the
invention of Volta s. Volta s discoveries would lead the way for Ohm s law several years later.
However, before that discovery was made Hans Christian Ørstead discovered electromagnetism,
which was then used by André Marie Amperè to show that magnetism ... Show more content on

Galvani noticed that when a metal scalpel was brought close one of the nerves in the frog that the frog
s leg would move. Galvani stated that the electricity observed in the frogs was intrinsic the nerves of
the frog. Galvani used multiple different metals combinations to demonstrate the electric phenomenon.
He would further demonstrate that metals were seemingly unneeded. He did this by manipulating the
nerves and muscles of the frogs in such way that caused the same twitch, as when a metal object was
brought near. The publication of his research in 1791 would peak the interest of Alessandro Volta.
Volta was convinced that Galvani s animal electricity was not the result of the animal tissues, but the
metals within those tissues. In an effort to prove this Volta invented the battery . Volta s battery was
built out of alternating zinc and copper disks with cloth (or a similar medium) soaked in salt water
[10]. Volta stated the following regarding the nature of electricity with respect to Galvani s animal
electricity: Herein lies the whole secret, the whole magic of Galvanism. It is simply an artificial
electricity, which acts under the impulse of contacts between different conductors [9]. At this point
Volta s theory of electricity by contact was fully accepted. Just after Volta s greatest discovery and
before that of Ohm, Hans Christian Ørstead discovered magnetism. Ørstead conducted a series of
experiments that

Similarities Between Go Set A Watchman And To Kill A...
In July of 1960, the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee was published bringing immediate
success as a classic of modern American literature. Fifty five years later, Go Set a Watchman was
released though it was written in 1957. Both novels include the same characters, however Go Set a
Watchman took place in a setting two decades after To Kill a Mockingbird. In Go Set a Watchman,
Jean Louise returns home twenty years later to find her noble role model and beloved father is now
affiliated with raving anti integration and anti black crazies (Kakutani). While Atticus Finch in To Kill
a Mockingbird reflected aspects of Harper Lee s life, his character in Go Set a Watchman represents a
more realistic view of racism which demonstrates accuracy to historical context in the 1930 s.
The Ku Klux Klan was established in 1866 and within four years it had extended to the majority of the
southern states ( Ku Klux Klan ). In Alabama, the Ku Klux Klan alleged to have over 150,000

mentioned in To Kill a Mockingbird though it had been known in every southern state. During Lee s
childhood, it would be impossible for her not to hear of the group. To Kill a Mockingbird leaves this
crucial group out while in Go Set a Watchman the Ku Klux Klan is a defining element of the character
of Atticus. Most members of the group can be described as middle aged, working class, Protestant

P1 Human Rights
The phrase Human Rights refers to standard rights of all individuals, regardless of their nationality,
race, religion, ethnicity or gender and are viewed as moral rights. Moral rights are a natural right that
exists from birth, apply to everyone and universal, irrespective of which society someone lives in.
These rights cannot be given up or taken away. To have rights implies that others have obligations.
The government is required to respect and protect human rights. Failure by the government to do so
would be a violation of human rights. In contrast to moral rights, legal rights are different as they are
created by governments, apply only to some people in society, are not universal and can be given up
or altered.
The principle of universal rights relevant to everyone was first recognised by a document produced by
the United Nations, known as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights . The document was first
signed in December 1948 with the intention of improving human rights.

Essay about The Assyrian Winged Protective Deity and...
A piece of art can leave distinct impressions with the viewer. The Assyrian Winged Protective Deity
provides a plethora of stimulants for the eye. The relief emulates brute strength and power through the
overall stature of the figure. The cuneiform writing above the relief greatly influenced the impression
a viewer can receive through its narration about the figure. Other than Gilgamesh and the Assyrian
Winged Protective Deity both being from Mesopotamia, they have numerous similarities.
The Assyrian Winged Protective Deity is a very imposing figure. It measures around seven and a half

Strength embodies this figure, the strong man who treads on the necks of his foes, who crushes all of
his enemies (Relief of a Winged Genius). The strength of this king was shown through the deity s

a scepter in his hand, so he can crush his enemies in battle. This figure illustrates true power, whose
hand has conquered all lands (Relief of a Winged Genius). The relief s other hand shows this, in that it

Other than the influence of divine power, Gilgamesh and the king from the Assyrian Winged

Assyrian Winged Protective Deity, but they provide Gilgamesh with support as well. Gilgamesh
receives dreams from the god Shamash to give him strength during uncertain times, and the relief has
wings from the gods to show their influence to protect the king. Both figures represent the lives of
kings. However, the king mentioned in the relief is Assyrian, while Gilgamesh is Sumerian, which

University of South Florida
Tampa, U.S.A. simpsond@mail.usf.edu I. INTRODUCTION
Engineering has been an essential part of society since man created the wheel. Even from the days in
ancient Egypt when the pharaohs built the pyramids they used their own form of engineering.
Engineers were always a very prestigious occupation. It was roman engineers who allowed the city of
Rome to be built from the palaces to the aqueducts. After the roman engineers built the aqueducts then
engineering evolved to a more renaissance approach including building castles and moats. Kings and
queens would use engineers for personal statues of themselves or for improvements on their castles.
The foundation of engineering completely changed when Isaac newton invented calculus and put a
formula to gravity. A couple hundred years later, many engineers focused on improving machinery in
the industrial revolution, along with many improvements in the medical field. Lately some of the more
popular feats of engineers include large skyscrapers being built across the world, and one of the best
inventions of all which is the computer. Computer scientist and electrical engineers have been at the
forefront of our most recent technological advancement and will continue to push our technological
boundaries to the limits.

Speech For Freshman Class Senator
My fellow tigers, today I officially announce my candidacy for Freshman Class Senator. I come before
you all today, humbled by all that God has blessed me with. I am a first generation college student, I
come from a single parent household and I understand how hard it was for some of us to reach this far.
Although this class has not been with each other for an extended period of time, I have been able to
shake some your hands, hear some of your stories, and understand how we could improve this school
together. On today I think back on the rich history of Texas Southern University. I think about all that
this institution and its student have had to endure over time. I think about the marches and sit in s on

us in the direction of progress. First, let us reduce the cost of textbooks. Because no student who has
made it this far should bear the uncertainty of whether or not they will have enough to get a textbook
and have their education potentially shut down due to rising textbook cost. Second, let us establish
fiscal responsibility. As your Senator, I will guarantee that your money is spent wisely on programs
that will benefit each and every one of you. Third, let us work toward bringing new career internship
opportunities for all of you here on campus. These opportunities will be able to provide you all with
job experience within an area you would like to pursue in the future. And finally, let us bring more
inclusiveness to the Class of 2020. As your Senator, I will host Freshman town halls every month to
truly understand the issues you all face here on a daily basis. But, also to hear your voices and

Grounded Theory Of The Theory
grounded theory of 1967 and this development and testing of theory involved in grounded theory will
make it difficult to be classified as ordinary inductive based on the fact that theory not necessarily
meant to be tested in purely inductive research. Another point is the fact that classic grounded theory
originally is expected to commence without theory make it fundamentally different from case study
strategy. This is a point of argument between the two originators of the theory Glaser and Strauss after
they split on the opinion on whether it is possible to commence grounded theory with conceptual
framework. Strauss and his new partner Corbin in Corbin and Strauss (1990) agued to support
opportunity for conceptual framework at the start of a research study while Glaser in Glaser (1992)
countered the position of Strauss and Corbin by affirming that the essence of grounded theory is to
developed theory from empirical data and that issue of testing or verification is not part of grounded
theory. Today, theorists are fundamentally split along these two directions. This research study is
aligned with Strauss and Corbin direction but will not use classic grounded theory to avoid confusion
but the basic principle of Strauss and Corbin in the use of both inductive and deductive approaches
will be employed.

The Human Being Is The Most Sophisticated Organism On The...
The human being is the most sophisticated organism on the planet. It feeds, cleans, and heals itself. It
does have an expiration date however, that can be hacked or manipulated depending on the way, you
as the steward of your body treats it. As I stated the job of the body is to clean and heal the body to
increase the longevity and its quality of life. Now the body heals everything the same way, but its
reaction depends on the structure or organ that becomes injured. For example if your body is cut, it
bleeds, this begins the inflammatory process initiated by this insult or injury scar tissue is summoned
to the injured area, and new cells replace the damaged tissue and within about 6 weeks the injured area
is returned to somewhat normal, of course depending on the extent of damage. The key is to adopt a
more holistic view, rather than focusing on small bits and pieces of your anatomy. And that includes
taking your thoughts and emotions into account as well . The optimum aging scenario, says Andrew
Weil MD, a pioneer in integrative medicine, is to remain as healthy as possible until we approach
death, and then rapidly decline: Regardless, your wish to live a long healthy life. To do this, one must
counteract the toxicity being ingested, inhaled, or exposed to the body. For the last 117 years, we have
been under constant assault from environmental toxins, in our food, water, air, etc. Experts are

The Importance Of Free Day At School
When all of the children enter the room, they are automatically greeted with the song, The Ants Are
Marching . This will get them excited for another day at school. After the song, any announcements
that need to be made will be said and children will then be dismissed to free play at the center of their
choosing.
This free play time at any center will give the children time to socialize and talk about any exciting
news they have with their friends so that they will be quieter through the lessons that are planned the
rest of the day. During this time the teacher is free to check in on any kids if need be.
The children will know that free time is done once the teacher rings the bell. After the children quiet
down the teacher will then begin to sing The Soap on Your Hands . The children will know that when
this song is sung that it is time for then to wash their hands. Once they are done washing their hands,
the teacher will instruct the kids to get to their assigned seat.
Breakfast will be served once all of the children are seated. Wednesday the breakfast will be whole
grain oatmeal that has raspberry halves, strawberry quarters, and blueberries in it. Children will wash
this delightful meal down with a nice glass of ice cold 2% milk. Once each child is finished eating,

Controversial Movements In Music Essay
The ultimate achievement for any culture is the creation of an art form (Marsalis, Pg 3). Wynton
Marsalis is a strong supporter of traditional jazz whose impression is that music should stay
traditional. On the other hand, Herbie Hancock believes the opposite. For music to grow or become
anything, the artist must experiment and try new things. Herbie Hancock s theories allow for the
movement of jazz music from the traditional to a more progressive new form. He believes what makes
history is what music reflects on.
Music has made an impact on all levels in history. The early days of jazz provided many styles which
highlighted the talent and innovation of African American music including Ragtime and Dixieland.

Styles are what makes the music change. For instance, traditional Ragtime style moved to Dixieland
which moved to Bebop. And from there traditional jazz was created. But jazz kept progressing the
way it did. Bebop to the birth of Cool. Cool to Funk and Fusion. Funk and Fusion to Free Jazz. And so
on. So where is our music heading? Our styles from jazz has moved to a new style that is now apart of
our era. This new style can create a form of inspiration towards the listener. This inspiration can
breach outside of music and into the present time. For traditional jazz to create inspiration may only
be within the music itself since the style is so far passed. I ve found from my own life that I can get
more accomplished by getting a person inspired to do something. Inspiration, not intimidation.
(Hancock, page 7). Music has a large impact on people. It can bring a person out of depression as well
as bring them into it. It can create fights as well as solve them. Traditional jazz was a source for this
back in the 20 s to late 60 s. Now, traditional jazz does not have much of an impact on people as much
as newer music does. For example, John Coltrane s album A Love Supreme was considered spiritual at
its time. Today, there are still some who consider it spiritual but not as many. As times change, the
popularity of albums change making the impact of certain albums change or just dissipate. Certain

Personal Team Effectiveness Individual Assessment
Introduction
Bruce W. Tuckman is an educational psychologist from Princeton University. In 1960 s, he proposed
Tuckman s Stages of Team Development. It is widely known as a basis for effective team building. It
is describes four stages of useful development: forming, storming, norming and performing. In the
1970 s, Tuckman and other authors have added adjourning as the fifth stage. Tuckman s model
explains that as the team s growth, ability and building the relationship. However, this is the most
frequently cited if compared to the other models of group development that have been proposed.
Every team has to go through these stages so that their work can do smoothly, completely and
perfectly. (Alan Chapman, 2009)

During stage 3, team relations are featuring by cohesion between team members. Individual in active
confirmation of all members dedication, maintain team mission, and solve team issues. Now past the
arguments, they are more understand each other, and have an appreciation for each other s skills. They
are now fully support each other. Besides, individual may be able to give up about their own ideas and
agree about the others for the purpose of the team can move on. Commitment and unity is strong.
They become more co operative and start to agree on individual responsibilities. Some decisions are
made by the team agreement. Whereas, small decisions can be consign to the team member.
Leadership is shared, facilitates, and factions dissolution. Thus, this stage is important because
individual share feelings and opinion, give feedback to each other, and search the information related
to the task. They are happy to being a part of the team. (David A. Buchanan, 2010)

All About Fha 203K Loans. The Federal Housing Administration,
All about FHA 203K LOANS
The Federal Housing Administration, otherwise known as the FHA, is a government agency created to
help alleviate the case of homelessness in the country. The agency is under the authority of the
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), set up in 1934 after the Great Depression.
The primary purpose of establishing the FHA is to oversee different insurance programs for single
family mortgages, insuring mortgage loans provided by HUD approved lending institutions. In order
to get FHA loans, buyers are required to have a satisfactory credit rating and make a down payment.

One to four family homes like townhomes, detached and single family houses are eligible. One to four
condominium units are eligible for interior improvements and repairs only.
An existing home or dwelling or a modular unit on a particular site can be moved to another site. It is
however required that a new foundation is provided and meticulously inspected, in addition to
securing the dwelling properly to the foundation.
Borrower Eligibility for the FHA 203K Loan
The requirements for taking the 203k loan are not any different from other loan programs offered by
the Federal Housing Authority. The requirements are practically the same and all you need is to meet
the standard FHA credit qualifications which include the down payment requirements and mortgage
insurance payment upfront and annual, which depend on the value of the loan. Some of the standard
FHA underwriting guidelines that apply include income, credit scores, employment verification and
debt.
The major difference that can be spotted in the standard FHA underwriting process compared to the
FHA 203K underwriting process is that with the former, there is the usual inspection that checks
livability and an appraisal to assess the market value of the property. With the FHA 203K underwriting
process however, it does not make too much sense to find the fair market value of a property that
needs repairs.
With the 203k loan, there is an

An Argument Of Humanity, Justice, Horror, Duty, Mercy, Hope
All Great things are simple and many can be expressed in simple words: freedom, justice, horror, duty,
mercy, hope. Winston Churchill. The film is persuasive in the argument of humanity, in its relation to
morality. The question of morality is the question of virtue or in this case the fight between good and
evil, also know as yin and yang.
The usage of colours black, white, brown, blue, green, yellow, and red, stand alone are to effective
describe good or evil, yin or yang. The colours are also mixed to show the coexisting harmony of the
colours together can bring about a heightened form of destruction or form of good. For much of the
film the colour red is used to symbolize anger, fury, destruction, and death. The first usage of the
colour is with the branding iron, with the mark of Immortan Joe. The significance of the branding iron
is linked with the feeling of a cage/imprisonment, a mark of enslavement/ownership. This stance is
more emphasised by the wives as they yell at nux that they are no more than breeders and battle
fodder for an old man. Red is also symbolized as light and warmth in regards to one of the wives,
Capable. The colour blue is used to symbolize peace, healing, knowledge, life, quite, grievance, and
night. The first time the colour is used is in the form of night after the death of Angharad, the world is
drenched in blue except for the four wives, that are shown in colour with benefit of light. The colour is
also shown translucently in water. The

Psychological And Sociological Factors Of Stress
Introduction
Stress is defined as any situation which tends to disturb the equilibrium between a living organism and
its environment 1. Equilibrium is restored through biological actions such as hormone secretion which
lead to physiological changes that prepare one for the fight or flight response. As a junior doctor, Mark
is exposed every day to many stressors such as death, suffering and long hours. There are also many
psychological and sociological factors in the work environment which can further impact Mark s
stress. It is therefore vitally important for new junior doctors like Mark to be able to manage their
stress and ask for help if they are unable to cope.

CRF is the main regulator of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis and is secreted by the
paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus4. It is released into the anterior posterior gland
where it binds to receptors on pituitary corticotropes which stimulate the release of ACTH. ACTH
mainly targets the adrenal cortex where it stimulates production of glucocorticoids5 by increasing
RNA, DNA and protein synthesis3.
The second wave is slower and involves steroid hormones, such as glucocorticoids2, more specifically
cortisol in humans5. Glucocorticoids bind to glucocorticoid receptors which are found in the majority
of tissues3. Thus they have a wide range of targets and actions, and so regulate metabolic,
cardiovascular, immune and behavioural processes2. One which is relevant to responding to stress is
the target of the adrenal medulla which when targeted increases PMNT expression and activity which
stimulates epinephrine synthesis3. Another important target is the liver where the effect is an increased
expression of gluconeogenic enzymes3 which helps to increase metabolic activity. The heart is also a
target where the effect is increased contractility3.
Acute stress can also lead to secretion of other hormones. Vasopressin, or antidiuretic hormone, is
rapidly released from the PVN of the hypothalamus1. Its role is to help

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Scaffolds
As previously defined, a composite material consists of two or more materials where polymers are
used as matrix materials usually. These materials behave together to produce the best properties of the
scaffold, duplicating the same composite features of bone. In particular, polymer based composite
scaffolds may mimic the structure of natural bone which is mainly made of HA and collagen. Showing
better osteoconductivity, HA can be considered the inorganic reinforcing phase of the composite
scaffold, while polymers such as PCL, PLLA, PGA, PLGA function as the organic matrix. Bioactive
phases creating reinforcement in the polymer based composite can also change the degradation
behavior. Composite scaffolds made of polymer reinforced with HA seem to be promising substrates
for bone tissue engineering because of their outstanding mechanical properties and osteoconductivity.

The effective synergic role of  TCP bioactive particles and PLA fibers on the morphology and
mechanical behavior of the final composite scaffold was assessed, as well as the interaction between
the ceramic phase and the highly organized fiber reinforced polymeric structure (60).
The integration of biodegradable PLA fibers into the PCL matrix allows a mechanical response that is
ideal to maintain the spaces required for cellular in growth and matrix production. The addition of
bioactive  TCP particles, through a hardening reaction, generates needle like crystals of calcium
deficient hydroxyapatite similar to natural bone apatite, which interact with the fiber reinforced
polymer. This interaction strongly enhances the mechanical response in compression by up to an order
of magnitude

Argumentative Essay On Parks And Rec
In 2009, NBC released a political comedy called: Parks and Rec. The Emmy nominated American
sitcom takes place in the fictional town of Pawnee. The show tells the story of Leslie Knope, a
bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation department, becoming the first female governor of Indiana.
Turning an impoverished lot into an angelic park becomes Leslie s main objective during the show.
She believes the success of the park will allow her to move up through the government. However,
Leslie encounters countless obstacles that prevent her from progressing through government and
accomplishing her agenda. Using a government setting, Parks and Rec exposed many issues in today s

One example occurs in season two when Leslie Knope becomes a judge for the Miss Pawnee beauty
pageant and attempts to do the impossible: have a winner based upon merit rather than appearance.
After the contestants went through, the judges congregated off to the side to select a winner. All the
judges came to a consensus, except for Leslie. Leslie believed objectifying the contestants solely upon
physical beauty demeaned the contestants and that the judges should consider merit in deciding the
winner. However, the other judges did not care about merit and believed beauty should decide the
winner. Before announcing the winner, Leslie tried to persuade the judges to view her side, but she
failed. Becoming irate, Leslie wanted her sentiments heard, This isn t the first time that Susan s have
lost to Trish s and it won t be the last. Susan and I will continue on until the women of Pawnee are
judged not by the flatness of their tummies, but by the contents of their brains. Another example
transpires in season seven during the Pie Mary episode. During the episode, Leslie opts out of the Pie
Mary, a Southern Indiana tradition where congressional candidate s wives face off in a pie baking
contest, because she believes it is retrogressive and misogynistic. However, her decision ends up
creating a controversy between the media and the campaign. The media attacks Leslie for not being

Financial Assets or Financial Instruments represents a claim to the payment of a sum of money sometime in the future and /or periodic payment in the form of interest or dividend. Some deposits are repayable instantly on demand. However, the banks cannot instantly take the money back from their borrowers. Banks keep some cash ready for meeting any demand from their depositors but sometimes, the demand could be higher than the cash in hand. During the course of the day, after taking care of all their needs, some banks may have surplus cash in hand and some may have a deficit. The bank having a deficit will borrow money overnight or for any period extending up to 14 days from bank having a surplus. The borrowing bank has to pay interest on the borrowed money. Thus call money usually serves the role of equilibrating the short term liquidity position of banks. The call money market crosses international lines, with funding opportunities located in a number of countries around the world. Because of the inclusion of international banking institutions, the role of the brokerage firm becomes vital to the individual investor. Brokers will be aware of applicable banking laws, and how those laws could impact the transaction. This knowledge regarding participants in the call money market allows the firm to pick and choose among possible avenues for funding with a level of efficiency that would be difficult for the individual. The police investigation took 27 years to prove guilt of the serial killer, Ottis Toole, who made multiple confessions to the murder. The book is written by the experienced detective writer Les Standiford with the help of the retired detective Joe Matthews, who finally found evidence of Toole s committing the murder 27 years afterwards. Rather that the case was too difficult, and Detective Hoffman turned out to be too snobbish not only to ask for help but also to accept help from Joe Matthews when he offered it not once. Hoffman was too unstructured and ill equipped for such mind bogging case (Standiford, 2001).Det. Serg. Matthews was a lie detector expert and an experiences homicide detective and, being hired by the Hollywood, Fl, Police Department, he was very interested by the case and was ready to use his knowledge to solve the case. Among other things, the difference in approaches of two detectives was that Hoffman was obsessed with finding physical evidences linking Toole to the Adam s murder; while Matthews believed that circumstantial evidence could make do in some cases. That meticulous recount of all glaring mistakes of the Hollywood, Fl, police department and the detailed description of their daily working life had its aim in showing that detectives work is far from the glamorized TV series. • 4. The Portrayal Of The Theatre Of The Absurd Essay example The Portrayal of the Theatre of the Absurd Throughout literature, much has been assumed and gathered about the state of man and his purpose in life. Different poets, novelists, and playwrights have employed the powerful tools of language to broadcast their respective statement to the literate world. Many authors stand out for their overly romanticized or horribly pessimistic notations on life, but only Samuel Beckett stands out for his portrayal of absence. As Democritus, a Greek philosopher, noted, nothing is more real than nothing, a quote which became one of Beckett s favorites and an inspiration for his masterful plays (Hughes 1). Beckett s works have astounded many through their utter divergence from the typical basis of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beckett purposefully strips the setting of all elements of reality—namely time and definition. In Waiting for Godot, his stage directions simply state, A country road. A tree. (1) Such simplicity initially seems to muddy the clarity of the work, causing confusion as to the location and specifics of the characters plight and conditions. However, as Daryl McDaniel constitutes, bareness of the set only serves to create a complex fictional and highly theatrical world (McDaniel 1). As the play goes on, this vague scenario also serves to make the work universal, due to the commonality of such elements in nature. Similarly, although Endgame s plot plays out in a more confined and defined space, a room with two high windows and two ashbins, the surroundings are bleak and undefined. Collectively, Beckett s use of setting defies reality. Jean Jaques Mayoux elaborates on this point to clarify, a realistic setting would spoil everything (Mayoux 42). Beckett s intentional bleaching of the set allows for the perfect portrayal of the world as incomprehensible. The distortion of time serves to enhance the incomprehensibility of Beckett s works. Not only does Beckett fail to specify a time period, the element of time passage becomes unfathomable, implying the same about the world in which we live. Waiting for Godot opens with the ... • 5. Aquinas Humility Essay The first tension, as previously mentioned, is the love of oneself the magnanimous person loves to do good things, but finds satisfaction in being superior to others. Another tension that the magnanimous person experiences is that although he desperately tries to focus his life on doing great deeds, at the end of the day, he is left with emptiness. However, Aquinas believed that the virtues of gratitude and humility in particular could overcome these tensions. In his writings, he brought up human interdependence. At the essence, he believed all humans needed each other, and that this was a good thing. He asserted that humans are not self sufficient, and we must be comfortable with this idea because we are a part of a society in which even the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also believed that the virtue of humility could relieve tensions within the magnanimous person. Although humility seems to be incongruous with magnanimity because one who is extremely humble does not strive for admirable and outstanding goals, Aquinas argued that when these two virtues were well understood, they were not just virtues that go together, but exist together. If one does not have virtuous humility, they will not be able to obtain virtuous magnanimity. This is because humility helps people create a truthful self assessment of themselves and helps them let go of passions and pursuits that are not achievable, and instead seek goals that are achievable. Moreover, humility allows humans to respect others by helping them realize that there are dimensions to each human being that only God can see; true humility presupposes that each and every human has hidden yet remarkable qualities that just cannot be perceived with the human eye. By being humble, serving others and maintaining relationships with equality is easier to do for even the magnanimous person. At the core, Aquinas agreed with Aristotle that magnanimous people needed to be courageous and eager to do incredible things, but also believed that they needed to humble, grateful, and recognize that humans are not God, nor will they ever be able to do what God ... In contrast, the Diabetes deal fetches $8 million up front and $80 million milestone payment which is too less. In addition, the potential sales for Sepsis are $0.5 billion annually compared to $4 billion for diabetes. It is not a smart decision if we give up large portion of future proceeds from selling Diabetes drugs. Proso Millet as an Alternative Crop Essay Proso Millet as an Alternative Crop Proso millet, Panicurn miliaceum (L.), is a warm season grass that is capable of producing seeds within a short growing season of 60 to 100 days (Boland, 2003). Proso millet possesses many unique characteristics that make it a promising alternative cash crop for the Great Plains region of United States. Proso millet is effective at helping control these grasses because proso millet does not occupy the same growing season as these weeds, unlike winter wheat. Putting millet into a wheat/fallow rotation makes it possible to produce two crops in three years. Proso millet requires little water, and has fairly low nutrient requirements. Studies have shown that proso millet starts to produce seed after utilizing as 6 inches of total water, as opposed to the 9 to 10 inches of total water use before wheat beings seed production (Baltensperger). The main nutrients that may be lacking for proso millet production are nitrogen and phosphorus (Blumenthal). It is recommended that a soil nitrogen test be conducted every year before planting proso millet and that a soil test for potassium, phosphorus, and micronutrients be done every three to five years (Blumenthal). Fertilizers should then be applied accordingly to the results of the soil tests. Insect and disease problems are not very high in proso millet (Baltensperger). Weeds, however, can be a problem in proso millet, and can cause drastic reductions in yields. The herbicide combination that is used most often in proso millet production is Banvel and 2,4 D (Baltensperger). This is why large stores like Primark and Asda can sell their clothes at such little cost. Some of the workers are said to be working 60 to 90 hours every week for as little as £17 per month. (Making social lives pg.88) The workers in the factories are grateful for their small wage and would struggle if the factories were to close and business was took elsewhere. The growth of consumption has caused a large increase in rubbish. This is due to people having more choice when out shopping. Religion 1700s Religion In the 1700s the extent of religion was not very vast and many people were prosecuted for their religious beliefs, however there were colonies that allowed people to have their own beliefs and this helped pave the way for religious freedoms in the colonies. In the 1700s religion was heavily involved in nearly everything a person did. There beliefs were strong and when someone told them differently they would be heavily punished for this. Many people would not allow their opinions to go unheard, like Anne Hutchinson and many more. These people would try to fight for their freedom for religion but they were mostly shunned and punished. The Puritans were a group of very strict religious followers who would go to high extremes to make people change religious ways. The underground railroad was not underground, or a railroad, it was named this because the activities that happened had to take place in the dark or in disguise. Routes were lines, stopping places were stations, and the ones who aided on the way were conductors. The underground operations relied heavily on secret codes to tell passengers when it was safe to travel and when it wasn t safe to travel. The most active members who helped the railroad were people of the freed slave community such as Harriet Tubman. The different lines of the routes extended in several directions throughout 14 northern states and the Promised Land of canada. Typically, enslaved African Americans who left plantations and cities in Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, and Virginia were more likely to take refuge in the northern states, Canada and Western Territories. Those who lived in the deep south often found freedom by escaping into Mexico and the Caribbean. The Underground railroad was a system which existed in the Northern states before the civil War that helped slaves escape. Slaves from the south were helped by sympathetic Northerners. The ultimate goal of the underground railroad was to get slaves to a place of safety and freedom states in the north and in canada. Put simply, overpopulation is the condition of having a population so dense that it causes environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a population crash (Merriam Webster). It should not be taken lightly because it cannot be reversed in a short time period. Changes must be made gradually so that future generations do not suffer consequences that current generations have place upon them. It will be important to think about this theme in the future because of the issues it may bring up, namely food shortages or lack of other natural resources humans need to survive. There are various reason why overpopulation is occurring. One is due to the overall decline in death rate on the planet. The discovery of agriculture by our ancestors was one factor that provided them with the ability to sustain nutrition without hunting and, in essence, there was a large drop in injury or death because of the fact ( Overpopulation: Causes ). This led to the first imbalance of both the birth and death rate ( Overpopulation: Causes ). Another reason overpopulation is occurring is due to the advances humans have made in medicine. The primary source documents such as The Monroe Doctrine Declares the Western Hemisphere Closed to European Intervention, 1823, and essays such as, Expansionist Ambition, Not Republican Ideals, will support the structure of this essay, showing that there is a reflection of Manifest Destiny ideology in the Monroe Doctrine. Using various primary and secondary sources from Major Problems in American Foreign Relations, this short essay will argue that the Monroe Doctrine of 1823 was a reflection of Manifest Destiny ideology. Defining the two concepts of Manifest Destiny and The Monroe Doctrine, will be the main element in this first body paragraph. The term Manifest Destiny illustrates the principles that are given by God, in which give the United States pure justifications that entail expansion for universal equality and American greatness.1 In other words, the concept given by God, Manifest Destiny, describes America s purpose to expand its natural borders, and to expand to areas that are unfit to govern. The Monroe Doctrine of December 1823, declared that the hemisphere was closed to European colonization and to the extension ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Major Discoveries in Electrical Communication in the 1800’s The nineteenth century was a very prolific era of discovery in electrical knowledge and technologies that laid the foundation for modern electrical communication. During this period of time the foundations of modern electrically based technologies were discovered. The nineteenth century began with a debate between Luigi Galvani, and Alessandro Volta regarding the source of electricity in Galvani s famous frog experiment. These debates lead to the invention of the battery by Volta, and the invention of Volta s. Volta s discoveries would lead the way for Ohm s law several years later. However, before that discovery was made Hans Christian Ørstead discovered electromagnetism, which was then used by André Marie Amperè to show that magnetism ... Galvani stated that the electricity observed in the frogs was intrinsic the nerves of the frog. Galvani used multiple different metals combinations to demonstrate the electric phenomenon. He would further demonstrate that metals were seemingly unneeded. He did this by manipulating the nerves and muscles of the frogs in such way that caused the same twitch, as when a metal object was brought near. The publication of his research in 1791 would peak the interest of Alessandro Volta. Volta was convinced that Galvani s animal electricity was not the result of the animal tissues, but the metals within those tissues. In an effort to prove this Volta invented the battery . Volta s battery was built out of alternating zinc and copper disks with cloth (or a similar medium) soaked in salt water [10]. Volta stated the following regarding the nature of electricity with respect to Galvani s animal electricity: Herein lies the whole secret, the whole magic of Galvanism. It is simply an artificial electricity, which acts under the impulse of contacts between different conductors [9]. At this point Volta s theory of electricity by contact was fully accepted. Just after Volta s greatest discovery and before that of Ohm, Hans Christian Ørstead discovered magnetism. Ørstead conducted a series of experiments that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In July of 1960, the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee was published bringing immediate success as a classic of modern American literature. Fifty five years later, Go Set a Watchman was released though it was written in 1957. Both novels include the same characters, however Go Set a Watchman took place in a setting two decades after To Kill a Mockingbird. In Go Set a Watchman, Jean Louise returns home twenty years later to find her noble role model and beloved father is now affiliated with raving anti integration and anti black crazies (Kakutani). While Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird reflected aspects of Harper Lee s life, his character in Go Set a Watchman represents a more realistic view of racism which demonstrates accuracy to historical context in the 1930 s. • 29. P1 Human Rights The phrase Human Rights refers to standard rights of all individuals, regardless of their nationality, race, religion, ethnicity or gender and are viewed as moral rights. Moral rights are a natural right that exists from birth, apply to everyone and universal, irrespective of which society someone lives in. These rights cannot be given up or taken away. To have rights implies that others have obligations. The government is required to respect and protect human rights. Failure by the government to do so would be a violation of human rights. In contrast to moral rights, legal rights are different as they are created by governments, apply only to some people in society, are not universal and can be given up or altered. The principle of universal rights relevant to everyone was first recognised by a document produced by the United Nations, known as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights . The document was first signed in December 1948 with the intention of improving human rights. Every year people are diagnosed with a mental health illness and need special care and support. Foundations Of Engineering Lab Report Foundations of Engineering Lab Report Project 2 Dominic Simpson Department of Civil Engineering University of South Florida Tampa, U.S.A. simpsond@mail.usf.edu I. INTRODUCTION Engineering has been an essential part of society since man created the wheel. Even from the days in ancient Egypt when the pharaohs built the pyramids they used their own form of engineering. Engineers were always a very prestigious occupation. It was roman engineers who allowed the city of Rome to be built from the palaces to the aqueducts. After the roman engineers built the aqueducts then engineering evolved to a more renaissance approach including building castles and moats. Kings and queens would use engineers for personal statues of themselves or for improvements on their castles. The foundation of engineering completely changed when Isaac newton invented calculus and put a formula to gravity. A couple hundred years later, many engineers focused on improving machinery in the industrial revolution, along with many improvements in the medical field. Lately some of the more popular feats of engineers include large skyscrapers being built across the world, and one of the best inventions of all which is the computer. Computer scientist and electrical engineers have been at the forefront of our most recent technological advancement and will continue to push our technological boundaries to the limits. II. It does have an expiration date however, that can be hacked or manipulated depending on the way, you as the steward of your body treats it. As I stated the job of the body is to clean and heal the body to increase the longevity and its quality of life. Now the body heals everything the same way, but its reaction depends on the structure or organ that becomes injured. For example if your body is cut, it bleeds, this begins the inflammatory process initiated by this insult or injury scar tissue is summoned to the injured area, and new cells replace the damaged tissue and within about 6 weeks the injured area is returned to somewhat normal, of course depending on the extent of damage. Winston Churchill. The film is persuasive in the argument of humanity, in its relation to morality. The question of morality is the question of virtue or in this case the fight between good and evil, also know as yin and yang. The usage of colours black, white, brown, blue, green, yellow, and red, stand alone are to effective describe good or evil, yin or yang. The colours are also mixed to show the coexisting harmony of the colours together can bring about a heightened form of destruction or form of good. For much of the film the colour red is used to symbolize anger, fury, destruction, and death. The first usage of the colour is with the branding iron, with the mark of Immortan Joe. The significance of the branding iron is linked with the feeling of a cage/imprisonment, a mark of enslavement/ownership. This stance is more emphasised by the wives as they yell at nux that they are no more than breeders and battle fodder for an old man. Red is also symbolized as light and warmth in regards to one of the wives, Capable. The colour blue is used to symbolize peace, healing, knowledge, life, quite, grievance, and night. The first time the colour is used is in the form of night after the death of Angharad, the world is drenched in blue except for the four wives, that are shown in colour with benefit of light. The colour is also shown translucently in water. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Psychological And Sociological Factors Of Stress Introduction Stress is defined as any situation which tends to disturb the equilibrium between a living organism and its environment 1. Equilibrium is restored through biological actions such as hormone secretion which lead to physiological changes that prepare one for the fight or flight response. As a junior doctor, Mark is exposed every day to many stressors such as death, suffering and long hours. There are also many psychological and sociological factors in the work environment which can further impact Mark s stress. It is therefore vitally important for new junior doctors like Mark to be able to manage their stress and ask for help if they are unable to cope. Major hormones of the stress response and their actions on the body The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... CRF is the main regulator of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis and is secreted by the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus4. It is released into the anterior posterior gland where it binds to receptors on pituitary corticotropes which stimulate the release of ACTH. ACTH mainly targets the adrenal cortex where it stimulates production of glucocorticoids5 by increasing RNA, DNA and protein synthesis3. The second wave is slower and involves steroid hormones, such as glucocorticoids2, more specifically cortisol in humans5. Glucocorticoids bind to glucocorticoid receptors which are found in the majority of tissues3. Thus they have a wide range of targets and actions, and so regulate metabolic, cardiovascular, immune and behavioural processes2. One which is relevant to responding to stress is the target of the adrenal medulla which when targeted increases PMNT expression and activity which stimulates epinephrine synthesis3. Another important target is the liver where the effect is an increased expression of gluconeogenic enzymes3 which helps to increase metabolic activity. The heart is also a target where the effect is increased contractility3. Acute stress can also lead to secretion of other hormones. Vasopressin, or antidiuretic hormone, is rapidly released from the PVN of the hypothalamus1. Its role is to help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Scaffolds As previously defined, a composite material consists of two or more materials where polymers are used as matrix materials usually. These materials behave together to produce the best properties of the scaffold, duplicating the same composite features of bone. In particular, polymer based composite scaffolds may mimic the structure of natural bone which is mainly made of HA and collagen. Showing better osteoconductivity, HA can be considered the inorganic reinforcing phase of the composite scaffold, while polymers such as PCL, PLLA, PGA, PLGA function as the organic matrix. Bioactive phases creating reinforcement in the polymer based composite can also change the degradation behavior. Composite scaffolds made of polymer reinforced with HA seem to be promising substrates for bone tissue engineering because of their outstanding mechanical properties and osteoconductivity. While intensive efforts have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The effective synergic role of  TCP bioactive particles and PLA fibers on the morphology and mechanical behavior of the final composite scaffold was assessed, as well as the interaction between the ceramic phase and the highly organized fiber reinforced polymeric structure (60). The integration of biodegradable PLA fibers into the PCL matrix allows a mechanical response that is ideal to maintain the spaces required for cellular in growth and matrix production. The addition of bioactive  TCP particles, through a hardening reaction, generates needle like crystals of calcium deficient hydroxyapatite similar to natural bone apatite, which interact with the fiber reinforced polymer. This interaction strongly enhances the mechanical response in compression by up to an order of magnitude ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One example occurs in season two when Leslie Knope becomes a judge for the Miss Pawnee beauty pageant and attempts to do the impossible: have a winner based upon merit rather than appearance. After the contestants went through, the judges congregated off to the side to select a winner. All the judges came to a consensus, except for Leslie. Leslie believed objectifying the contestants solely upon physical beauty demeaned the contestants and that the judges should consider merit in deciding the winner. However, the other judges did not care about merit and believed beauty should decide the winner. Before announcing the winner, Leslie tried to persuade the judges to view her side, but she failed. Becoming irate, Leslie wanted her sentiments heard, This isn t the first time that Susan s have lost to Trish s and it won t be the last. Susan and I will continue on until the women of Pawnee are judged not by the flatness of their tummies, but by the contents of their brains. Another example transpires in season seven during the Pie Mary episode. During the episode, Leslie opts out of the Pie Mary, a Southern Indiana tradition where congressional candidate s wives face off in a pie baking contest, because she believes it is retrogressive and misogynistic. However, her decision ends up creating a controversy between the media and the campaign. The media attacks Leslie for not being the traditional congressman s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
