My Knowledge And Understanding Of The Holy Spirit
My knowledge and understanding of the Holy Spirit began later than would be expected for someone
who was raised in the church since birth. I grew up in a tradition that, due to fears over the exaltation
of emotionality in some charismatic movements, responded by practically ignoring the third part of
the Trinity. While I knew the three names that made up the Trinity, the Holy Spirit was some forgotten
concept that languished because revealing it might lead to excess. In some ways, I think that fear is a
testament to the incredible power dwelling in the Spirit. However, to ignore it completely is an
untenable position. While the Spirit has historically struggled to be accepted as a full person within the
Trinity, I firmly believe, as do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that this understanding of the role of the Holy Spirit provides a fuller and more theologically
consistent view of the work of the Spirit.
Before I can progress on this point, I must first provide demonstrate the foundation of my beliefs in
the Spirit and its gifts. Belief in the Holy Spirit is one of the defining traits of Christianity ; however
defining such an entity comprehensively and succinctly is difficult. One definition, merely to begin
the discourse, can be found in the The Anchor Bible Dictionary. There, the Holy Spirit is defined as
the manifestations of divine presence and power perceptible especially in prophetic inspiration. This
definition is simplistic and laden with theological assumptions which, but it provides a starting point
in this discussion. One of the primary components that initially struck me from this definition is the
emphasis on the role of the Spirit in prophecy and inspiration. This idea does not spring out of
nothing, but is routinely supported by writings of the early church fathers and modern theologians.
However, this also feels restrictive, minimizing the role

An Essential Core Part Of Contemporary Art Essay
An essential core part of Contemporary art an artist is to show one s art are websites, galleries, and
museums. An artist has numerous options to select from when revealing one s work. Every artist
should have or build a website to utilizing the site to display their art in an effective way. It is
significant for an artist to have their own website to sell work or services, serve an introduction to a
new or existing audience, and expand their art. Having a website to showcase artwork is a superior
quality every artist should acquire. However, artist s tend to endure in errors when developing a
website, some which may include, missing a goal, forgetting to partake in research, lack of
information, and over designed. Many website complications could discredit the artist s work. In this
paper, I will examine issues and critic five websites of selective contemporary artist s, and determine
whether they are effective. The artist s I have chosen are Ebony Patterson, Jared Miller, Shinique
Smith, Lynette Yiadom Boakye, and Richard Prince. First, Ebony Patterson is a Jamaican artist born in
Kingston, Jamaica in 1981, who works revolves around questions of identity and the body, and takes
the form of mixed media paintings, drawings, and collages. Patterson conveys her work of art by
presenting them on her own personal website. Her website is well organized with great structure,
despite, an absence of artistic merit. Although, her website is valuable and has great quality because

Key Challenges Faced By Tata Motors
1. What are the key challenges faced by Tata Motors in the process of moving to produce passenger
cars from successfully producing commercial vehicles?
Ans: Tata Motors was a leading player in the segment of commercial vehicle market. In 1954 Tata
Motors in collaboration with Daimler Benz started manufacturing heavy commercial vehicles like
excavators and earth moving equipment s. When Japanese firms Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan
entered the Indian market through joint ventures for manufacturing light motor vehicles, Tata Motors
took this opportunity and developed light motor vehicles (TATA 407, TATA 608, and TATA 709) that
went ahead of the Japanese firms due to low cost, adaptable to Indian road conditions and good after
sales service.
For extending their market Ratan Tata decided to manufacture small cars in collaboration ... Show

They should be able manage their alliances in a proper way to extend their market globally without
much using its resources.
The most challenging part is bringing the components together and integrating it with the
manufacturing operations since most of the automakers are doing away with their business of
assembling components.
Tata Motors have to take their decision whether to make or buy for the key inputs i.e, design, engine

Brave New World, And 1984 Replace The Existence Of God
Throughout history, most religions have created a belief system where people are free to worship and
praise God s existence, as well as acknowledge that they are constantly being watched by him. This
confidence in God creates a sense of security and hope for the community that there is a purpose for
their existence, and the world does not come to a tragic end after death. Yevgeny Zamyatin, Aldous
Huxley, and George Orwell, authors of WE, Brave New World, and 1984 replace the existence of God
with leaders or objects that symbolize their new God . Although the concepts of adoration and
complete omniscience are still relevant throughout these novels, the God s created are merely based
off of the governments beliefs and tactics. In these novels, the faces of God are simply the government
in disguise; giving the people a sense of comfort by seeing intangible figures and faces, parallel to
their old Gods. There is an innate inclination to believe in something larger than oneself, hence why
the people are forced to believe in these government aliases. In each of the novels, the authors develop
governments that create belief systems to match up with their ultimate goals, as well as to execute
control, thereby keeping themselves in the seat of absolute power. In WE, Zamyatin creates a society
known as One State that revolves not around the individual, but around the collective we, with the
Benefactor in God like status at the center. The Benefactor possesses qualities that the

The Boston Tea Party and America’s Independence Essay
The Boston Tea Party and America s Independence
Throughout the course of history there have been many events leading up to the independence of
America. Some of them were small, whereas others were much more significant. One of the more
important events was the Boston Tea Party. This was when the colonists, in anger, boarded a ship
carrying many chests of fine teas, and hurled them overboard. The Boston Tea Party marked the first
act of open resistance to British rule. The Boston Tea Party alone was not the main event that brought
America her independence. However it was the larger of many little things that led up to the
revolutionary war. For example, if there would never have been a Tea Tax, then there never would
have been the need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would then proceed to tear open the chests of tea and dump them overboard. That Sunday night,
December 16th, 1773, the plan was put into action. It worked just as they had wanted it to. The near
hundred men, all dressed as Indians, boarded the ship and with their tomahawks, they broke the chests
of tea open and succeeded in dumping 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. This was later named
The Boston Tea Party, but for the British it was called a disaster.
As soon as King George III heard of the tea party, he was furious. In 1774, the British government
passed many laws in order to punish the colonists for their act of rebellion. Some people called these
laws the Punitive Acts, and some called them the Coercive Acts. However to most, they were known
as the Intolerable Acts. There were five Intolerable Acts all together. The first of these was called the
Boston Port Act. This law closed down the Boston port until the East India Company was reimbursed
for the tea that was ruined in the Boston Harbor. This upset the people greatly, since this was the only
port in Boston and the people of Boston thrived on commerce. The bad thing about this law was that it
punished the innocent as well as the guilty. The second of the laws was a modification to the
Massachusetts charter of 1691. It took away many of the rights of self government that the province
had enjoyed. The third measure stated that the British

Hip Hop Music And African American Oral Traditions
In order to understand hip hop dance, it is important to recognize hip hop music and where it came
from. Many scholars of rap music relate the founding of rap to African and African American oral and
musical traditions, specifically African griots and storytellers. They link the rhythm of rap to the use
of drums in Africa and to African American music in the United States, from slave songs and spirituals
to jazz and R B. Scholars have found very interesting connections between rap music and Black
nationalist traditions (traditions historically practiced by black people that serve as part of their racial
identity). Rap is similar to the call and response of the black church, the joy and pain of the blues, the
jive talk and slang of the hipsters and jazz musicians, the boasting of street talk, the sidesplitting
humor of comedians, and the articulateness of black activists. All of these African American oral
traditions, including rap, can be traced back to West African oral traditions. In traditional African
societies, the spoken word and oral culture included poetry, storytelling, and speaking to drumbeats.
The links between rap music and African American oral and musical traditions demonstrate that hip
hop music represents more than just sound. It represents history. This aspect of it, in my opinion,
makes this type of music very unique and makes it carry more value.
Rap music officially started in 1978 in the Bronx, New York. According to the author, most Americans

My research paper is entitled, Analyzing Heart of Darkness...
My research paper is entitled, Analyzing Heart of Darkness through a Feminist Lens. Through this
paper, I will investigate and examine Heart of Darkness by means of Feminist Criticism and literary
theory. I aspire to thoroughly analyze the entire narrative, in order to pull out and pinpoint various
aspects and examples linked to feminist theory. I want to investigate and spotlight specific
occurrences, in the novel, where characteristics of Feminist Criticism can be found or applied. I
specifically want to look at the tree women characters introduced in the text; The Intended The
Mistress and Marlow s aunt. I also want to prove that Heart of Darkness is a text that openly conflicts
with the basis of feminism.

In Joseph Conrad s novel Heart of Darkness, Marlow s mindset towards women represents the rather
widespread viewpoint of the 19th century. Men during this time viewed women as insignificant and
inferior. Perhaps that is why there are only three female characters in Heart of Darkness: Kurtz s
mistress, Kurtz s Intended, and Marlow s aunt. Marlow references these women with the intention of
giving the narrative more gist. Though they certainly perform particular functions in the story, these
women don t really correlate with the main premise of the tale. The main theme of the story centers on
how Marlow s voyage into the Congo leads him to self discovery. The journey helps to mold and
shape his beliefs in humanity and causes him to question morality.
At the outset of Marlow s narrative he expresses how he, Charlie Marlow, set the women to work to
get a job. Marlow communicates this in the perspective that he was so determined to adventure into
the trade commerce that he did what was unconceivable in the time period: he asked a woman for
money. The lady, his aunt, seems to surpass the customary role of women during the time period. She
tells Marlow that she is overjoyed to aid him in his endeavors. She even instructs him to ask her for
help whenever he desires it. This occurrence does not play too much of a role in the overall premise of
the tale; it merely functions to tell the reader how Marlow succeeds in getting the finances he needs to

Business Needs Of Mr. Smith s Bakery Essay
ntroduction:
In this project, we address the business needs of Mr.Smith s Bakery. This business is a bakery that
deals mostly with larger orders meant for parties, restaurants and large events. The bakery is primary a
business to business entity and customers call ahead to place orders. These orders are generally a bulk
order of a few products. Although the bakery is fictitious, this sort of business exist and is very
common way to operate a bakery. With the hassle of trying to keep paper and Excel records on
multiple tabs and folders, an Access database was the ideal solution.
The business has four currently employees, including Mr.Smith. The product categories is extensive
but for the sake of the database, we only included a handful to demonstrate that the database works
and that the calculations are done accurately and timely. Each product has a few ingredients that
should be tracked so that Mr.Smith knows how much of each ingredients are needed, giving the
business a better estimate of what is needed and if they can fulfill the orders.
The process of finding out the business rules, developing the database and solving the problems is
shown in greater detail in the following sections.
Project Background:
Mr.Smith s Bakery is not a real bakery that any of us are aware of. However, producing large
quantities of products as demanded by large customers is the ideal way to run a large bakery. Running

The Walking Dead Westerns Summary
I would consider the Walking Dead a western but more of a modernized Sci Fi type of western. In the
article by Massik, Solomon The Walking Dead, Westerns, and the New Westerns it describes how the
Walking Dead is a western because of the guns, violence and the lawless frontier. I agree with this
because that s how I imagine most westerns be with people with guns and they were allowed to use
them more freely than what they are now. Western males always had guns at hand just like in the
Walking Dead but since it s a modernized show females also carry guns. Massik also mentioned how
westerns took over land through massive killings, this is exactly what happens in the Walking Dead

The Causes Of The Triangle Fire Of 1911
A year after shirtwaist workers thought they had won a war, the Triangle Fire proved that it had
merely been a battle. Under the Triangle Shirtwaist Company owners, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris,
the men and women laboring to sew waist skirts were dissatisfied with their terrible working
conditions and low wages. While working, the garment workers, made up of mostly poor Italian and
Jewish women immigrants, would constantly be yelled at and called sexist slurs by bosses, and forced
to work long, tiring hours for little pay (Argersinger 11). Tired of these conditions, the workers of the
Triangle Shirtwaist Company in New York met in secret to form a union against the company in
September 1909 (Argersinger 11). The union of the garment workers acquired the backing of both the
International Ladies Garment Workers Union and the Women s Trade Union League, which inspired
many other women, both working and upper classes, to follow the older unions lead and join the
garment workers fight. Accordingly, thousands of garment workers launched an eleven week strike on
November 22, 1909, which became known as the Uprising of Twenty Thousand (Argersinger 11 12).
The strikes were successful because they accomplished their key goals, though this came at the cost of
improving workplace safety which eventually led to the Triangle Fire of 1911. Years before the
tragedy, the motivations of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company workers to participate in the Uprising of
Twenty Thousand were

Northgate Marching Band
In high school I was a part of the Northgate Marching Band Drumline. I auditioned my freshman year
and was put on top bass. At the time the line was dominated by girls, so I felt very comfortable and
made a lot of friends. During the winter season I auditioned for snare. In drumline, the snare drum is
the most exposed drum, therefore it is reserved for the more advanced players. I was told to go home
and work on some things, and so I did. I practiced for a few hours and the next day after practice I was
told I was on snare. I marched snare from then on, freshman year all the way through my senior year.

gone by, we had our band banquet. During the banquet they would announce all of the new section
leaders. They took us into the hall and I was told I was the new section leader for the drumline. This
role is held very high in the Northgate Marching Band, because if you hold this position, you are a
leader of the band. Now that I had the title I needed to accomplish one more thing. In drumline we
have a center snare. The center snare is the most advanced player on the line, they count off all the
exercises and they are the person you listen to when playing. Our audition process was intense,
because again I was the one with the least experience on snare. I absorbed every piece of criticism I

Consequences Of Betrayal In The Adventures Of Ulysses
Daymieri Narvaez

Oct. 12, 2017
Betrayal
Betrayal is the action of deception against one s country, group, or a person. This action is noted both
in novels and in the real world. The novel The Adventures of Ulysses by Bernard Evslin describes a
scene in which two men betray Ulysses by opening a bag of winds. In the real world, a man named
Edward Snowden betrays his country by revealing classified information he was entrusted with. The
two situations of betrayal are justified and not justified throughout the texts they are mentioned in. In
the novel, The Adventures of Ulysses, Ulysses was guarding a bag of winds given to him by Aeolus.
He stood awake day and night, protecting the bag from the wandering minds of his crew, but when his
eyes gave out, two men took their chances and opened the bag. Though, the consequences that the
whole crew experienced cost them dearly, they had reasons for doing this. Predominantly, the two men
were tricked by the god of the sea, Poseidon, to open the bag. The god made sounds of clicking
trinkets and it lured the men to open the bag since they were profoundly greedy and have been battling
in a war for ten years. On page 36 of the novel, it states, Then Poseidon, swimming invisibly
alongside, clinked his golden armlets. The men heard the clinking and thought it came from the bag.
This demonstrates that the trickery of Poseidon encouraged the men to open the bag since they were
vulnerable the sound of trinkets. Additionally, Ulysses never told his crew what the bag contained and
why they shouldn t open it. If he did, the whole situation could have been avoided. All the same,
Ulysses was a trusted man and leader. The two men who betrayed him should have known better than
to doubt that their leader wouldn t have shared if it were real gold. Primarily, Ulysses had been the one
making the right decisions all the time and has gotten his crew out of trouble when needed. On page
36, in the text, it states, It is true, said the first, that he has always been generous. He shared the spoils
of Troy. This testifies that Ulysses had never kept anything to himself, he always shared his riches
with his crew. Thus, the two men should have thought a bit more before

What is a compounding Pharmacy? What are its benefits?
What is pharmacy compounding?
Pharmacy compounding is the practice of manufacturing personalized drugs for patients when they
may not be capable of using a commercially available medicine, or they may require a medicine,
which is currently not available or discontinued.
What exactly is Compounding Pharmacy?
A compounding Pharmacy prepares compounded drugs, according to the prescription of medical

Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Research Paper
The ANWR or Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is a refuge specially designed for wilderness purposes.
This refuge is located in the northeast corner of Alaska, and is home to a rich diversity of over 250
species of wildlife. For a better description, this refuge has been named spiritual, recreational,
historical, and cultural. However, not all would agree that the arctic refuge is a rather safe place.
In 1966, many Alaska Natives protested due to the ANWR being threatened by dirty oil and gas
development. Since then, many laws and acts have been passed and signed so that the ANWR would
be kept safe. For example, in 1960 President Eisenhower established the Arctic National Wildlife
Range to preserve wilderness, wildlife, and recreation. Also in 1980, President Carter signed the
Alaska Interest Lands Conservation Act. This act expanded the Arctic Refuge s size, along with
changing its name and some other features. As a result of these actions, the thought of drilling the
ANWR should be abolished. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in the first paragraph, this refuge was designed purposely for wildlife. The oil industry
continues to launch attacks to open this national treasure to destructive oil drilling. However, there is a
large amount of people and protesters that are willing to do anything to protect this remarkable place
that some call home. If these oil companies drill this land, hundreds of habitats would be lost. Even
the simplest things such as seismic testing, aircraft and vehicle noise, or even the presence of humans
nearby can drive mother polar bears away from their den and cubs. The critical breeding grounds for
migratory birds would be severely impacted and the same for others. The simple action of even having
humans at this location could destroy a whole species. Although, habitat loss is not the only reason
why this majestic place should not be a drilling

Lake Descriptive Writing
A lake is no place for a watch. I think it s unreasonable to request anyone to keep time in such a place.
My tan forearm barred no watch; no stripe of pale skin to indicate a childhood subject to the
constraints of Tick and Tock. A timeless realm, the lake emancipated the soul and the body, allowing
both to mingle with nature. My bare, unpainted toes were always covered with mud from walking the
trail around Apache Lake, past the little outhouse, Carp Cove, but not as far as Hodgson s dusty old
cabin. It was difficult to see from the road, and at times I felt nobody ever went there but me. Tall
yellowed grasses embraced the water s rocky edge like a mother s protective hug. Clumps of Aspen
whispered collectively as I built forts in their midst, and Ponderosa tress stood tall and unyielding,
looking down at my imaginative creations with approval. The wind and the euphonious lilt of the
Meadowlark were ideal companions as I played and watched and wondered. ... Show more content on

How I Formed My Leadership Philosophy

1. How I formed my leadership philosophy: throughout my career I have worked for many different
styles of leaders who all had a different style of leadership. They also had individual ways to deliver

require a different approach to reach the required goal. My first Officer in Charge in the Coast Guard

The Kill List Sociology
The Kill List is a British horror film, considered hybrid, coinciding with black comedy, horror
comedy, psychological horror, family drama, hitman action thriller, war, crime thriller, cult, violent
drama.
The film incorporates violence throughout, from the first scene with domestic disharmony, to verbal
violence, continuing with actual violence, metaphysical violence with the hammer scene, violence
between Jay and Gal, and ends with Jay violently stabbing the Hunchback .
As the narrative progresses, Jay sinks further into darkness. As Cherry states horror films are socially

Loneliness, Sorrow, And Companionship In The Wife s Lament
Loneliness, Sorrow, and Companionship in ¨The Wife s Lament¨
The Wife s Lament is about loneliness, sorrow and companionship. ¨The Wife s Lament¨, translated
by Richard Hamer, describes the feelings of a woman who is grieving about the absence of her lord or
husband. The poem is a written as a woman s song. The woman is frustrated that she is separated from
her lover and that she is unable to mend her situation. We can see loneliness and grief reflected in the
poem because the woman talks about hardships. It is a sad poem; she feels lonely and vulnerable
because she is no longer in touch with her lord. This woman should deal with her grief, face it, and
move forward to make her life better.
In The Wife s Lament, the woman longs for companionship from her husband. Her husband, who is
not named in this poem, goes to sea leaving her in a friendless exile (10). It is noted that her lord s
kinsmen plotted secretly (11), wanting to separate them for a long time. The plot to send her away put
her in a position where it would forever keep them apart. She has never been through a loss this
excruciating. The woman feels that she is alone since she has few dear loyal friends. (17). She turns to

the farmers. The decision to take the land from the farmers and give to the local Indian tribe for

suffer with a sentimental loss of their families land, they will be compensated for the cost. With
weighing the costs to the farmers against the benefits to the town and community as a whole, it is in
the best interest to exercise eminent domain. Society will benefit from the increased revenue and
decreased unemployment rates. As the unemployment rate decreases, the amount of unemployment

Quasi Contracts
INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS:
Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which have
little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover money paid
by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the defendant a sum of
money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he defendant to restore it.
But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the extended meaning borne by
the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual liability serves only to
emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract.
This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the
purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED IN FACT CONTRACT:
The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged by
the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be observed
that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym for jus naturale
. Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring benefits unjustly
obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared in Weston v.
Downes, I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I am not
stretching, lest I should endanger it thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases falling
within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy.
Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust benefit
was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century, the form of
the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield s views were
challenged. According to Lord SUMNER in Sinclair v. Brougham in 1914 the various actions grouped
under the title of quasi contract were clearly not tortious; if the new antithesis of the common law
were inevitable

Set in a typical mental asylum in the 1970 s during the anti Vietnam War protests and the feminist

and fidelity, in a society predominantly concerned with war and politics. Throughout the play, Nowra
uses the play within a play, Cosi Fan Tutte , to convey his key values regarding the importance of love

perceptions of madness itself. The playwright delivers these messages through a number of subtle

This very much represents the physical crossing from the normal world into a world which is not seen
from the outside, and pushed to the edge of society, and further resembles a glimpse of hope for the
patients recovery. In the later scenes of the play, during the performance of Mozart s opera, the entire
theatre has been transformed into something completely different, with its white walls, the bright,
colourful costumes, and Mozart s music of the spheres echoing within the once dark and dismal place.
The new theatre in all its splendour metaphorically resembles the transformations of the characters

especially in contrast to hopeless treatments such as shock therapy. Through his play, Nowra also
encourages the audience to agree with his personal view that war is unnecessary, and in a way is a
kind of madness itself, due to its chaotic and uncontrollable nature.
Through Cosi Fan Tutte , Nowra also focuses on highlighting the inconsistencies and injustices within
the mental health system, through the use of dark humour and cynical depictions of mental asylums

The element of surprise. Often, guerillas will not be in uniform and carry just a concealed weapon. By
doing this it helps the guerillas startle the enemy and catch them off guard, giving them the clear cut

hoping to drive their enemy out. Massive riots and sabotage are not at all uncommon in guerilla wars.
All in all, guerilla warfare is the use of unconventional war tactics used against enemies that follow
these conventional laws.
Now that we have cleared that up, lets move to the actual events that took place. Spanish resistance
was mainly part of the Peninsular War, or as some call it, Napoleon s

Early Human Evolution
Evolution is the idea that species change over time and have a common ancestor. Which means that
other species can evolve from the same animal or plant over a long period of time. Anthropology is the
study of humankind and some of the different aspects to see how we evolved.
The physical or biological anthropology is the evolution of humans their variability, and adaptations to
the environment. Physical anthropologist can examine or investigate evolution through our genetic
makeup. Anthropologist can compare bone structure, cranial capacity, and complexity of tools.
Through comparing bone structure forensic anthropologist can determine how tall early Homo species

Since the finding of Lucy in 1974 the evolutionary tree has nearly doubled (1). Early evidence can tell
how well the humans adapted to their climate, differences in male and female body size, and how
adapted early human species were for walking upright. Early on people thought that there was only a
single line of human species. After further research, the other early human species died out and Homo
sapiens are the sole surviving species.
Archaeology can help understand evolution by the artifacts found near areas inhabited by Homo. The
tools and sediments found inside caves can give anthropologist a better timeline for what their level of
intellectual ability. Tools can tell a significant amount about their social lifestyle. Finding places were
a campfire was burned over a period of time means that they most likely cooked and even spent social
time around the fire.
Further evidence suggest the cooking of when anthropologist found fragments of bones mixed with
ash. The ability to manipulate fire let them live in cave dwellings and on the ground instead of in trees.
The safety of fire allowed them to sleep on the ground not having to fear predators, which would
otherwise hunt them during the night. Over time the tree dwelling traits of larger shoulders decreased
and the ground level features became predominate. Which in turn brings us back to the physical
anthropology aspect of bone

Expanding the FMLA in CAlifornia Essay
Problem Identification
Every day in California, working men and women face conflicts between their work responsibilities
and their families. In order to work they must make arrangements for their children and elderly family
members who need assistance. They address these conflicts through a variety of child care, after
school, and eldercare arrangements. But sometimes when a child is seriously ill, an aging parent s
health deteriorates suddenly, or a baby is born or adopted, these daily arrangements are no longer
adequate. At such times of family need, an employee simply must take time off from work because no
alternative care arrangements will do. That is why in 1993, Congress passed the Family and Medical
Leave Act (FMLA), which was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is why expanding the law to cover businesses with 25 49 employees would give 13 million more
Americans the right to take FMLA leave. The National Partnership for Women amp; Families has
analyzed the most recent available employment data to show what this expansion would mean for
California. If California were to somehow expand the FMLA coverage to businesses with 25 49
employees it would make the following differences.
Size of Employer (# of employees)
Private Sector 50+ 25 49 Total (25+)
# Employees covered 5,813,391 1,518,241 7,331,632
% Employees covered 55.5% 14.5% 70.0%
# Employers covered 37,145 50,109 87,254
% Employers covered 4.1% 5.5% 9.6%
If this proposition were to be made, California would rank 1st in the nation for the number of people
newly covered by the FMLA, giving 1,518,241 more people in California the right to take FMLA
leave. An additional 14.5% of California s private employees would be newly covered by the FMLA,
and 70% of all employees in California s private

the black death Essay
In The Black Death the author Phillip Ziegler attempts to fully describe the Plague that struck Europe
in 1338 and remained until 1665. The year of the great Plague of London Ziegler tries to give an
unbiased account of the Plague by compiling information from contradictory sources. Ziegler begins
the book with the Tartans catapulting diseased corpses into Genoese as the Genoese escape back to
Europe. Following this, the author provides some insight into the Plague in Italy, Germany, and
France, in which he highlights the persecution of Jews, who became the scapegoat for the Plague in
Germany. The majority of the book discusses the Plague in England, dealing with the people that died.

This section is crucial for the reader s understanding of the plague. Ziegler very accurately depicts the
plagues origin and the uncertainty that surrounds it. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The following few
chapters discuss countries such as Italy, France, and Germany. This is a prelude to the many chapters
on England that follow. However, the majority of the book deals with England, because England has
the best documentation. The author presents all sides of issues such as the number of casualties, how
the church was affected and what happened to wages and price levels, and draws reasonable
conclusions. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The author also focuses on really appealing to human
emotions. What chapter also deals with what it would be like to live in a village before and after it was
ravaged by the plague. Ziegler s intention is to put the statistics into human terms. He appeals the
human condition by producing eyewitness accounts. For example, Boccaccio s descript of it. The
Decameron is a compelling first hand account, which Ziegler assesses in his book. Ziegler is careful to
weigh theses accounts with those oh historians. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Ziegler provides a
compelling account of the plague that pulverized Europe in 1338. A review written by Wickengee,
entitled A Caution Reason , Pardemico claims, Ziegler has provided an

  • 2. My Knowledge And Understanding Of The Holy Spirit My knowledge and understanding of the Holy Spirit began later than would be expected for someone who was raised in the church since birth. I grew up in a tradition that, due to fears over the exaltation of emotionality in some charismatic movements, responded by practically ignoring the third part of the Trinity. While I knew the three names that made up the Trinity, the Holy Spirit was some forgotten concept that languished because revealing it might lead to excess. In some ways, I think that fear is a testament to the incredible power dwelling in the Spirit. However, to ignore it completely is an untenable position. While the Spirit has historically struggled to be accepted as a full person within the Trinity, I firmly believe, as do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before I can progress on this point, I must first provide demonstrate the foundation of my beliefs in the Spirit and its gifts. Belief in the Holy Spirit is one of the defining traits of Christianity ; however defining such an entity comprehensively and succinctly is difficult. One definition, merely to begin the discourse, can be found in the The Anchor Bible Dictionary. There, the Holy Spirit is defined as the manifestations of divine presence and power perceptible especially in prophetic inspiration. This definition is simplistic and laden with theological assumptions which, but it provides a starting point in this discussion. One of the primary components that initially struck me from this definition is the emphasis on the role of the Spirit in prophecy and inspiration. This idea does not spring out of nothing, but is routinely supported by writings of the early church fathers and modern theologians. However, this also feels restrictive, minimizing the role ... • 6. Brave New World, And 1984 Replace The Existence Of God Throughout history, most religions have created a belief system where people are free to worship and praise God s existence, as well as acknowledge that they are constantly being watched by him. This confidence in God creates a sense of security and hope for the community that there is a purpose for their existence, and the world does not come to a tragic end after death. Yevgeny Zamyatin, Aldous Huxley, and George Orwell, authors of WE, Brave New World, and 1984 replace the existence of God with leaders or objects that symbolize their new God . Although the concepts of adoration and complete omniscience are still relevant throughout these novels, the God s created are merely based off of the governments beliefs and tactics. In these novels, the faces of God are simply the government in disguise; giving the people a sense of comfort by seeing intangible figures and faces, parallel to their old Gods. There is an innate inclination to believe in something larger than oneself, hence why the people are forced to believe in these government aliases. In each of the novels, the authors develop governments that create belief systems to match up with their ultimate goals, as well as to execute control, thereby keeping themselves in the seat of absolute power. In WE, Zamyatin creates a society known as One State that revolves not around the individual, but around the collective we, with the Benefactor in God like status at the center. • 7. The Boston Tea Party and America’s Independence Essay The Boston Tea Party and America s Independence Throughout the course of history there have been many events leading up to the independence of America. Some of them were small, whereas others were much more significant. One of the more important events was the Boston Tea Party. This was when the colonists, in anger, boarded a ship carrying many chests of fine teas, and hurled them overboard. The Boston Tea Party marked the first act of open resistance to British rule. The Boston Tea Party alone was not the main event that brought America her independence. However it was the larger of many little things that led up to the revolutionary war. They would then proceed to tear open the chests of tea and dump them overboard. That Sunday night, December 16th, 1773, the plan was put into action. It worked just as they had wanted it to. The near hundred men, all dressed as Indians, boarded the ship and with their tomahawks, they broke the chests of tea open and succeeded in dumping 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. This was later named The Boston Tea Party, but for the British it was called a disaster. As soon as King George III heard of the tea party, he was furious. In 1774, the British government passed many laws in order to punish the colonists for their act of rebellion. Some people called these laws the Punitive Acts, and some called them the Coercive Acts. However to most, they were known as the Intolerable Acts. There were five Intolerable Acts all together. The first of these was called the Boston Port Act. This law closed down the Boston port until the East India Company was reimbursed for the tea that was ruined in the Boston Harbor. This upset the people greatly, since this was the only port in Boston and the people of Boston thrived on commerce. The bad thing about this law was that it punished the innocent as well as the guilty. The second of the laws was a modification to the Massachusetts charter of 1691. It took away many of the rights of self government that the province had enjoyed. The third measure stated that the British ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Hip Hop Music And African American Oral Traditions In order to understand hip hop dance, it is important to recognize hip hop music and where it came from. Many scholars of rap music relate the founding of rap to African and African American oral and musical traditions, specifically African griots and storytellers. They link the rhythm of rap to the use of drums in Africa and to African American music in the United States, from slave songs and spirituals to jazz and R B. Scholars have found very interesting connections between rap music and Black nationalist traditions (traditions historically practiced by black people that serve as part of their racial identity). Rap is similar to the call and response of the black church, the joy and pain of the blues, the jive talk and slang of the hipsters and jazz musicians, the boasting of street talk, the sidesplitting humor of comedians, and the articulateness of black activists. All of these African American oral traditions, including rap, can be traced back to West African oral traditions. In traditional African societies, the spoken word and oral culture included poetry, storytelling, and speaking to drumbeats. The links between rap music and African American oral and musical traditions demonstrate that hip hop music represents more than just sound. It represents history. This aspect of it, in my opinion, makes this type of music very unique and makes it carry more value. Rap music officially started in 1978 in the Bronx, New York. In Joseph Conrad s novel Heart of Darkness, Marlow s mindset towards women represents the rather widespread viewpoint of the 19th century. Men during this time viewed women as insignificant and inferior. Perhaps that is why there are only three female characters in Heart of Darkness: Kurtz s mistress, Kurtz s Intended, and Marlow s aunt. Marlow references these women with the intention of giving the narrative more gist. Though they certainly perform particular functions in the story, these women don t really correlate with the main premise of the tale. The main theme of the story centers on how Marlow s voyage into the Congo leads him to self discovery. The journey helps to mold and shape his beliefs in humanity and causes him to question morality. At the outset of Marlow s narrative he expresses how he, Charlie Marlow, set the women to work to get a job. Marlow communicates this in the perspective that he was so determined to adventure into the trade commerce that he did what was unconceivable in the time period: he asked a woman for money. The lady, his aunt, seems to surpass the customary role of women during the time period. She tells Marlow that she is overjoyed to aid him in his endeavors. She even instructs him to ask her for help whenever he desires it. This occurrence does not play too much of a role in the overall premise of the tale; it merely functions to tell the reader how Marlow succeeds in getting the finances he needs to ... • 12. The Causes Of The Triangle Fire Of 1911 A year after shirtwaist workers thought they had won a war, the Triangle Fire proved that it had merely been a battle. Under the Triangle Shirtwaist Company owners, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, the men and women laboring to sew waist skirts were dissatisfied with their terrible working conditions and low wages. While working, the garment workers, made up of mostly poor Italian and Jewish women immigrants, would constantly be yelled at and called sexist slurs by bosses, and forced to work long, tiring hours for little pay (Argersinger 11). Tired of these conditions, the workers of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company in New York met in secret to form a union against the company in September 1909 (Argersinger 11). The union of the garment workers acquired the backing of both the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and the Women s Trade Union League, which inspired many other women, both working and upper classes, to follow the older unions lead and join the garment workers fight. Accordingly, thousands of garment workers launched an eleven week strike on November 22, 1909, which became known as the Uprising of Twenty Thousand (Argersinger 11 12). The strikes were successful because they accomplished their key goals, though this came at the cost of improving workplace safety which eventually led to the Triangle Fire of 1911. • 14. Consequences Of Betrayal In The Adventures Of Ulysses Daymieri Narvaez HR: 306 Oct. 12, 2017 Betrayal Betrayal is the action of deception against one s country, group, or a person. This action is noted both in novels and in the real world. The novel The Adventures of Ulysses by Bernard Evslin describes a scene in which two men betray Ulysses by opening a bag of winds. In the real world, a man named Edward Snowden betrays his country by revealing classified information he was entrusted with. The two situations of betrayal are justified and not justified throughout the texts they are mentioned in. In the novel, The Adventures of Ulysses, Ulysses was guarding a bag of winds given to him by Aeolus. He stood awake day and night, protecting the bag from the wandering minds of his crew, but when his eyes gave out, two men took their chances and opened the bag. Though, the consequences that the whole crew experienced cost them dearly, they had reasons for doing this. Predominantly, the two men were tricked by the god of the sea, Poseidon, to open the bag. The god made sounds of clicking trinkets and it lured the men to open the bag since they were profoundly greedy and have been battling in a war for ten years. On page 36 of the novel, it states, Then Poseidon, swimming invisibly alongside, clinked his golden armlets. The men heard the clinking and thought it came from the bag. This demonstrates that the trickery of Poseidon encouraged the men to open the bag since they were vulnerable the sound of trinkets. Additionally, Ulysses never told his crew what the bag contained and why they shouldn t open it. If he did, the whole situation could have been avoided. All the same, Ulysses was a trusted man and leader. The two men who betrayed him should have known better than to doubt that their leader wouldn t have shared if it were real gold. Primarily, Ulysses had been the one making the right decisions all the time and has gotten his crew out of trouble when needed. On page 36, in the text, it states, It is true, said the first, that he has always been generous. He shared the spoils of Troy. This testifies that Ulysses had never kept anything to himself, he always shared his riches with his crew. Thus, the two men should have thought a bit more before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For a better description, this refuge has been named spiritual, recreational, historical, and cultural. However, not all would agree that the arctic refuge is a rather safe place. In 1966, many Alaska Natives protested due to the ANWR being threatened by dirty oil and gas development. Since then, many laws and acts have been passed and signed so that the ANWR would be kept safe. For example, in 1960 President Eisenhower established the Arctic National Wildlife Range to preserve wilderness, wildlife, and recreation. Also in 1980, President Carter signed the Alaska Interest Lands Conservation Act. This act expanded the Arctic Refuge s size, along with changing its name and some other features. Quasi Contracts INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS: Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which have little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover money paid by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the defendant a sum of money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he defendant to restore it. But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the extended meaning borne by the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual liability serves only to emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract. This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED IN FACT CONTRACT: The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged by the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be observed that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym for jus naturale . Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring benefits unjustly obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared in Weston v. Downes, I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I am not stretching, lest I should endanger it thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases falling within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy. Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust benefit was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century, the form of the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield s views were challenged. Early evidence can tell how well the humans adapted to their climate, differences in male and female body size, and how adapted early human species were for walking upright. Early on people thought that there was only a single line of human species. After further research, the other early human species died out and Homo sapiens are the sole surviving species. Archaeology can help understand evolution by the artifacts found near areas inhabited by Homo. The tools and sediments found inside caves can give anthropologist a better timeline for what their level of intellectual ability. Tools can tell a significant amount about their social lifestyle. Finding places were a campfire was burned over a period of time means that they most likely cooked and even spent social time around the fire. Further evidence suggest the cooking of when anthropologist found fragments of bones mixed with ash. The ability to manipulate fire let them live in cave dwellings and on the ground instead of in trees. The safety of fire allowed them to sleep on the ground not having to fear predators, which would otherwise hunt them during the night. Over time the tree dwelling traits of larger shoulders decreased and the ground level features became predominate. Which in turn brings us back to the physical anthropology aspect of bone ...
