Essay on crusades
Crusading, much like Imperialism in the 20th century, was all about expansion. During the
middle ages however, it was more about the expansion of religion rather then power, or at least
that s the way it was preached. Crusading by definition is; a holy war authorized by the pope, who
proclaimed it in the name of god of Christ. It was believed to be Christ s own enterprise,
legitimized by his personal mandate(1). This essay examines the background of the crusadesto offer
a better understanding as to why they occurred. It also examines the effects that the crusades had on
the world. It is easy to look at the crusades as a violent meaningless act, but one must understand the
type of setting this movement... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knights would go in the hope of acquiring power and control over this new land. The chance at
commercial success in new places was a huge determining factor for the western merchants of the
day. Adventure, money, land, and religion were all big reasons for participating in the Crusades of
the Middle Ages (4).
The first Crusade began on November 27th 1095, as a response to the attack on the Byzantine
Empire by the Muslims. Pope Urban II inspired many clergy and laypeople to join the crusading
force. There was much excitement for the new adventure that awaited the people of Europe. They
united at the Byzantine capital of Constantinople and launched a counter attack against the Seljuk
conquerors of Anatolia. They then fought and overtook many city states belonging to the
Byzantine Empire with final destination Jerusalem, in their sights (5). The Majority of people
who joined the crusades were from France, with others coming from Lorraine, Burgundy,
Flanders, and Italy. Many common people were interested in crusading as well as noble
individuals. The reason for this was the chance of finding and claiming any land once they had
overtaken parts of the Middle East (6). The crusaders enjoyed considerable success during their
first couple of years. In only their first month of crusading they conquered Anatolia in the year
1097. During the same year they won a decisive victory over the Turks, during which

Maslow s Theory Of Motivation Based On A Holistic Approach
Maslow dealt with the psychological growth process, considered man as a biological organism,
and began his study with the theory of motivation based on a holistic approach. The holistic
approach paints a multidimensional whole picture of a person integrating the physical, mental,
and spiritual through a growth perspective. According to Sengupta (2011), Maslow defines
growth as the continuous development of talents, capacities, creativity, wisdom and character,
the various processes, which bring the person toward ultimate self actualization (p. 102).
Maslow did not ignore the spiritual dimension, but mainly focused on the biological nature of
man. He believed the entire person, not just part of him is motivated. Maslow s motivational
theory is based on the idea that human behavior is controlled through a number of developing
fundamental needs that operates in a fixed sequence and needs are defined as a condition of
deficit (Sengupta, 2011, p. 102). Needs are not always caused by shortfalls, however, they may be
founded on an individual s understanding of inner strength and high ethical standards in order to
understand their maximum potential. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid consists of five
basic levels of needs, progressing from physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self actualization.
According to Robbins and Judge (2014), physiological and safety needs are lower levels needs that
are predominantly satisfied externally whereas social, esteem, and

Civilian Court System
The question has arisen, since the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, of
how the individuals that are accused of being involved in terrorist attacks on the U.S. should be
prosecuted. There are two ways that they could be tired. They could be tried in the civilian court
system or by a military tribunal. If they are tried in a civilian court system this could prove to the
world that our system is fair and works for everyone and that the United Statesis a nation of laws
and justice. On the other hand, the civilian courts are set up for the application of constitutional
rights for the citizens of the United States. There are some issues with determining the correct path
because there are some complications in distinguishing between some of the acts, whether they are
acts of crime or acts of terror.
One of the biggest issues is that there is no legal definition of what the term terrorism consists of.
Other countries have a legal definition however, the United States does not. In contrast to other
countries, the United States has no legal definition of terrorism; thus no prisoner has ever accused
or tried on the simple offense of terrorism (Ferrell Websdale, 2009, p. 329). Also, there is not a
distinct ending to a war either. Based on the decision made by the Supreme ... Show more content

of Defense to uphold the President s orders. Therefore, based on the military order placed into

There is a due process under the military tribunal and there for they are given a full and fair trial. It
is in the best interest of the United States people, for the military intelligence sources and methods

Benefits And Drawbacks Of Using Secondary Market Research...
Introduction In this business report, I will identify what the benefits and drawbacks of using
secondary market research is for an organisation. I will use three major brands in the UK car
market; Mini Cooper, BMW and Audi. I have used these major brands as they are the most
differentiated out of all the car brands in the UK (see appendix 1). I will analyse their 4ps;
which is price, place, promotion and product. I will also use PEST analysis to explain the
current trends in the UK car market, and back it up with justified market research. Benefits and
drawbacks for organisations in using secondary research Secondary market research is market
research that s already gathered and prepared for you. Secondary research also known as desk
research is when an organisation identifies suitable sources and getting access to them;
reviewing and accessing their suitability for their specific research objectives (Mcgivern 2013).
There are many benefits and drawbacks of using secondary market research for an organisation.
Benefits of using secondary market research for an organisation is primarily based on how the
research helps aid reaching the research objectives for the business. Secondary market research is
the amount of time that can be saved (Ghauri 2005). With primary market research, it is up to the
organisation to go and gather the research themselves, hence why it s referred to as field research.
This tends to take a very long time, whereas with secondary market research it

An example of a type of retirement plan is, the EBRI. They have been conducting Research since
it s founding in 1978. Funding, Capital Markets, Program Coverage, and Participation in income

Such as Defined Benefit Plans, Defined Contribution and Participant Behavior Programs, and

valuable tools are used to assess the entire financial picture. Not just Retirement Holdings. Some
companies such as chase, offer both Traditional IRA s and Roth IRA s for those looking to

someone looking to see how much money they will need for retirement. And both IRA s can be
offered due to being able to maximize advantages of plans. For further depth into IRA s, here is
what they are in general. It s a good choice if one is eligible to make deductible contributions and
expect your tax rate during retirement to be lower than it is in today s economy. Because with this
type of investment the growth in the tax is deferred. You won t pay federal income taxes on your

Essay On Inner City School
Findings:
First before I could even start to begin to speak of the challenges in inner city schools, I must
define what an inner city school is. An inner city school is located in the central area of a major
city, where most people live in townhouses or apartment buildings. Sometimes when people hear
the word inner city the first thought that comes to mind is a lower income area. You may also
think of the people who live in the inner city. This population can be quite diverse, with racial
groups such as African American, Hispanics, and so on. The biggest issue facing the inner city is
the schools that lay in these areas. Since many people in these areas are minority and live below
the poverty line, this has caused issues with financing area schools. Schools receive their funding
from the federal government, but mostly from their local and state government which is also
responsible for collecting property, sales, and other taxes that fund ... Show more content on

The Last Report On Miracles At The Little No Horse
Family, peer influence, nature versus nurture, religion, and formal schooling all have an impact on
making individuals unique. With so many factors shaping one s identity, it is difficult to determine
which play the most pivotal role in one coming into their own. Most interestingly, identity is a
controlling factor in motivating one s behavior and actions. A common thread in shaping identity
across all cultures is the role of spiritual tradition. Through the characters in The Last Report on
Miracles at the Little No Horse, Louise Erdrich confronts individual and communal responses to
that reality. Since tradition is symbolic, not material, one can not physically hold on to their
tradition. In other words, an individual makes the conscious decision to allow or disallow tradition
to shape their own identity. Pauline Puyat is the product of cultural conflict, which shapes her
twisted, violent nature as a character, and through her Erdrich explores the winning of the west
from a non western perspective.
While some literary figures choose to continue along the lines of their cultural traditions, others find
flaws in traditional practices and decide to rebel against tradition. Marie Kashpaw. Defying tradition
is an interesting theme in literature, as well. Not all traditions should be continued, such as the
succession of abuse in the PUyat amily. Father Jude knows nothing about Ojibwe culture, so he
misses the undertow of clan meaning when Father Damien explains that Sister

Before a participation process can be designed and implemented, one must determine if there is
a problem to begin with. I would argue the need for judgment links to tyranny. The person setting
the table for a potential process has control over how the problem is framed and if there is a
problem to begin with. Perhaps the public needs to be involved in even the planning process of
the process itself? Could this look like a group of stakeholders? If the goal is to create a horizontal,
people controlled system of decision making? A compromise that deals with the challenge
articulated above is some form of power devolution. It s not an invitation to have too many cooks in
the kitchen ; rather devolution promotes the decentralization of power and decision making. The
creation of public action unites in neighborhoods or delineated ecosystems habits addresses the

Integrated Thematic Units Essay
INTRODUCTION Benjamin Franklin once said Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I
remember. Involve me and I learn. So, the question I pose today is how do we involve children
so that they learn? How do we spark that want inside of a student to because a lifelong learner.
The best way to build students knowledge and thirst for greater understanding is by creating
connections. Having connections between prior knowledge, different subject areas, the outside
world, and what is being learned now and in the future will help students to achieve higher levels
of thinking, as well as, the twenty first century knowledge and skills that are needed in the
collegiate and professional words today. One way to make these connections is by using integrated
thematic units. Inga Randle (1997) discussed the fourth grade students of Barbara Pedersen who
were so eager to learn they would willingly skip recess to be in the classroom learning. Pedersen
used integrated thematic instruction to inspire her students. So, by learning what an integrated
thematic unit is, why integrated thematic units should be used, and how to use integrated thematic
units teachers can become more like Barbara Pedersen and prepare students more for independent
thinking and higher education.
WHAT IS AN INTEGRATED THEMATIC UNIT? Patricia Roberts (1996) describes integrated
curriculum as a way of teaching and a way of planning and organizing the instructional program so
the discrete disciplines of subject matter are

Frames In Frank Luntz s Words Of Work
Frames are important because they help us emerge into a world or culture which we might not be
familiar with. Frames help us understand the different perspectives people have. It is important to
note that frames come from language. In his book Words that Work , Frank Luntz describes
frames as the context of any message (Luntz, p.26). He goes on to say that context, or framing, is
important because it explains the why of a message: without context, you cannot establish a
message s value, its impact, or most importantly, its relevance (Luntz, p.26). Naming is a crucial
aspect when discussing frames, as these can influence how an individual perceives a certain idea

fine to be loud because she could not hear what was going on around her. However, she did not

Death Of The Air, Blowing The Wrong Way

Dirt jacked another shell into the breach, took careful aim, and sent a final bullet into the stranger s

businesses and how long it will take them to get their lunches and sit down (ForceChange). A

Motivation Of Princess Diana
Princess Diana was an inspiration for many people around the world and used her royalty to
highlight major social issues. Diana s dedication to humanitarian work helped to promote awareness
and raise money for a wide range of charitable causes, including her campaign against landmines
and her kind hearted approach to the AIDS predicament. Dianacrossed boundaries to offer support
to casualties and worked hard to change the opinions of the general public, which didn t

Princess Diana reported that her prime motivation was to try and help the most vulnerable

a kind of destiny. (Bulman,2017) Diana was influenced by a need to serve others,as she had the
drive to make people feel loved and cared for. She believed that the best way to help someone heal
was by offering them affection and kind words. Diana utilized herself as a public figure to
distribute her charity works to increase global awareness for the greater good.
Princess Diana concentrated on six charities that she deeply cherished, Centrepoint; a London group
that aids homeless youth, the Leprosy Mission; cancer benefits, AIDS/HIV, and the International

government began seeking an armistice with Germany. De Gaulle found this to be unacceptable

While in England, de Gaulle took to radio to get his message of a free France out to the people

Edward O Wilson Satire
Edward O. Wilson is a contemporary scientist and, though he may deny this claim out of modesty, a
brilliant satirist. In his book The Future of Life (2002), Wilson satirizes the language of two groups
on opposing ends of the environmental spectrum. In this satire, Wilson brilliantly outlines the
unproductive nature of these groups in their discussions. Wilson first presents his audience with a
parody of critics of the environmental movement, in the passage The People First Critic Stereotypes
the Environmentalists. From this point, we can infer that this is a satire; stating that you will be
stereotyping your opposing group is an excellent use of irony. From this point forward, we continue
to read how Wilson heavily exaggerates the way anti environmentalists... Show more content on

Rather, we should focus on how the satire outlines the unproductive nature of these groups in their
discussions. In this article, we see the anti environmentalists talking about things that almost seem
pleasant when commenting on the environmentalists agendas. For example, one of the criticisms is
that the environmental laws will create more jobs. In a nation where many citizens fear that
immigrants are taking the jobs of Americans, more jobs sounds like a good thing. Additionally,
Wilson s exaggerations are not far off from what people might say in real life. When reading Wilson
s statement about what the environmentalists will do with their power (i.e. locking someone up
because an endangered spider was found on their property), one might be reminded of the 2016
election, and how ludicrous statements were uttered to combat the opposition. Wilson also parodies
the environmentalists, and how they talk about their enemy. Much of the same satire is used in this
article; however, it is much closer to the truth. While it is unlikely that anti environmentalists seek
unrestrained capitalism and wish to build a shopping mall on every square inch of green in the
United States, it is true that anti environmentalists might be considered laughable if not for their
ties to corporate power

Age Of Exploration Dbq
The Age of Exploration was an era when European explorers sailed for their mother countries to
chart the uncharted and find new and faster routes to the Far East. These expeditions not only led
to the European discovery of the Americas but also proved that the Earth was round. One of the big
benefactors of the Age of Exploration was Christopher Columbus, who accidentally sailed to the
Americas. His discovery led to the Columbian Exchange, which sent goods between the Americas
and Europe, changing the lifestyle of millions. Though the Age of Exploration was a great
advancement in both exploration and navigation, it came with many repercussions towards the
surrounding countries and the indigenous people of the new found land. Not only did these... Show

Though the Natives were treated badly, they were soon saved by Bartolome de Las Casas, who
persuaded the Spanish king to stop enslaving the Native Americans, instead use Africans as their
slaves. This protest from Las Casas forever changed the course of history. After Las Casas
protest was accepted, enslaved Africans were brought to the Americas through the Middle
Passage, which was a sea route from western Africa to the eastern part of America. Space in the
ship was very compact and hot. Also, due to the number on the ship, there was little room to
move, causing many people to almost suffocate to death. (Doc 5). The Europeans had to pack as
many Africans they could, knowing that some Africans would perish on the journey, to reach
African slave quota. The Middle Passage itself killed over 20% of the captive African slaves due to
the lack of space, hygiene, and nutrition. Not only did the Middle Passage bring enslaved Africans
to the Americans it also helped spread Africans across the world This process today is now called

Dropout In The United States
Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone. That s a
student every 26 seconds or 7,000 a day. 25% of high school freshmen fail to graduate from high
school on time. But this year, as I talked to my fellow seniors about their future plans, I never once
heard, I m not going to college. You see I live in a bubble: the typically white, conservative, well
educated town of Orchard Park, New York. Minority enrolled at my high schoolis 5%. Students
categorized as Economically Disadvantaged is 7%. The dropout rate is relatively obsolete.
Recently my school was designated a National Blue Ribbon School. But not every high school is
like this. Not every student my age has access to a quality education. Many of my peers, who have
just as much potential as I do, are disadvantaged because of the place they live or their background
they come from. The facts are that the United States is falling behind when it comes to education.
According to US Today, America is the 5th most educated country in the world. That seems
acceptable until you discern that the United States percent GDP spent on secondary education
(3.6%) is among the lowest of developed countries.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

True capillaries
10 to 100 exchange vessels per capillary bed
Branch off metarteriole or terminal arteriole
Blood Flow Through Capillary Beds
True capillaries normally branch from metarteriole and return to thoroughfare channel
Precapillary sphincters regulate blood flow into true capillaries
Blood may go into true capillaries or to shunt
Regulated by local chemical conditions and vasomotor nerves
Venous System: Venules
Formed when capillary beds unite
Smallest postcapillary venules
Very porous; allow fluids and WBCs into tissues
Consist of endothelium and a few pericytes
Larger venules have one or two layers of smooth muscle cells
Veins
Formed when venules converge
Have thinner walls, larger lumens compared with corresponding arteries
Blood pressure lower than in arteries
Thin tunica media; thick tunica externa of collagen fibers and elastic networks
Called capacitance vessels (blood reservoirs); contain up to 65% of blood supply

Firewalls will be placed between the web servers and the outer edge of the network, facing the
Internet. Such a configuration, called a demilitarized zone (DMZ), will provide an additional
layer of defense from a network breach. If the web servers are compromised, there will be an
additional barrier between them and the intranet. The firewalls will be configured to deny
everything, and then the ports that are needed for the functioning of the network will be
allowed. For the sake of expense and administrative simplicity, the firewall will be a stateful
packet filter firewall, as opposed to an application proxy firewall, which would offer higher
security and configurability at the expense of administrative complexity due to the need for a
proxy for each application in use by the company. The packet filtering firewall filters traffic

system will be anomaly based. An anomaly based IDS is preferable for its ability to detect zero

definitions must be updated on a regular and ongoing schedule. The system will be passive in its
functioning, in that it will not stop threats that it detects. Rather the IDS will send notifications to

Theme Of Honesty In The Crucible
An unknown speaker once said, A real man will be honest no matter how painful the truth is. A
coward hides behind his lies and deceit. This quote relates to characters in The Crucible, by
Arthur Miller, such as John Proctor, Rebecca Nurse, and Giles Corey. Each person took action
and stood up for what was right. Faced with tough decisions, many characters throughout the play
are severely tested by others in their surroundings because of the ways they lie, the ways they
make false accusations, and the ways that they ultimately die for a cause. At the beginning of the
play, Abigail Williams lies to avoid trouble. She tries to protect her life over the life of others
instead of doing the right thing by being honest about what happened in the woods. She lies
multiple times in the play accusing others of witchcraft, although it was false. When the courts put
Abigail to the test to see if she tells the truth, she fails and drags most of the town down with her.
Unlike Abigail, Elizabeth has always been known for her honesty. Her husband John says that
Elizabeth never told a lie. Yet when it matters most, Elizabeth lies to try to save her husband s life.
Ultimately, when Danforth and Hawthorne put her up to the test she fails to tell the truth and kills
John. John, attempting to save himself, confesses to witchcraft. He lied to the courts and told them
that he indeed was practicing the sorcery, when truthfully he was not. John thinks that this is the
right thing to do to save his

An Informative Essay On Wild Turkeys
The wild turkey is an animal most people have heard of because of hunting reasons, but do you
know the basic facts? The wild turkey species has 6 subspecies; these include the eastern wild
turkey, Osceola (Florida) wild turkey, Rio Grande wild turkey, Merriam s wild turkey, Gould s
wild turkey, and Ocellated wild turkey. These turkeys are different in color but are mostly the
same because they are the same species of animal. The wild turkey is dark in color, either
brown, black, or a similar color. Their wings are dark and are boldly barred with white. The
rump and tail of the animal are tipped with a rustic color or white. The final part of the animal,
the bare skin of the head and neck, are varieties of red, blue, or gray. Both male and female
measurements for the wild turkey species are the same. The length is 43.3 45.3 inches. The
wingspan is 49.2 56.7 inches. The weight is 88.2 381 ounces. These birds are very large, round

King Henry Symbolism
A Contradictory King: The King is but a Man as I Am
Among all the characters of the play, I am most interested in the personalities and the changes of
King Henry. The bishop Ely declares, We are blessed in the change, so are all the English people
(1.1.39). His changes are from a youth to an adult and from a man without power to a king. The
changes of his status accompany the changes in his characteristics. Finally, As Rabkin questions:
Can the manipulative qualities that guarantee political success be combined in one man with the
spiritual qualities that make one fully open and responsive to life and therefore fully human?

Actually, I like the king much better after he disguises himself with the cloak of Erpingham.
There his superficially contradictory character is finally thrown off like a discarded cloak, and
the youth in him comes out again: Then, he starts to joke around with his former friend Pistol,
telling him, Do not were your dagger in your cap on Saint Davy s day lest Fluellen knocks that
about yours (4.1.57 8). This is the first joke that he tells in the play, showing that he is not
serious throughout time. He also shows much fear when he meets the three soldiers, saying to
Williams, Though I speak it to you,/ I think the King is but a man as I am (4.1.98 9) With the
word though, the king is in fact implying that I should not say so. This is not only because it is
contradictory to condemn himself, but also because he believes that a king should not show
any cowardice. He should not possess this fragile human side in his heart, as Adam or other
human beings do. Nevertheless, he still feels that for a king, when he sees reason of fears as we
do, his fears, out of doubt, be of the same relish as ours are (4.1.105 6). We prefer this speech of
the king because he tells us that every man is the same. We prefer this moment of the king
because by seeing his weakness, we see also ourselves. We prefer this form of the king because
with a cloak and disguise, he is truest to himself and to us, without

Hawaii Volcanoes Essay
There are many different types of volcanoes in the United States. Composite, Ciner and Shield are
the three types of volcanoes. Over the history of Hawaii, covering about 85 million years, there
have been 129 volcanoes formed due to the hot spot and of that 129, 123 of them are extinct or
seamounts. In Hawaiitoday, there are currently five active volcanoes, Lo ihi, Kilauea, Mauna Loa,
Hualalai and Haleakala. Lo ihi is the only underwater volcanoin Hawaii; the other four volcanoes
are above sea level. Kilauea is a hyperactive shield type volcano. Volcanoes are mainly found
where tectonic plates are diverging or converging. The Mid Ocean Ridge is an example of

Before, people did not consider Lo ihi to be an active volcano, instead just a common old

was discovered that this volcano was in fact an active one, instead of an old dead seamount. In

According to the Center for Disease Control, more than 1.2 million people in the US are living
with HIV. What may be worrying is that 1 in 8 persons are unaware of their positive status. Despite
the number of new HIVdiagnoses has decreasing by 19% between 2005 and 2014 , there is still a
lot of unsightly statistics that paint a picture of uncertainty regarding its eradication. HIV is
incurable, The only relief comes in the form of ARVs which help the body adapt to the weakened

The Party System, Republican Vs. Federalist
Final Exam Part 2 _QC There are several reasons why the two party system, Republican vs.
Federalist, worked so well in the 1790 s. First, when the political parties emerged in the 1790 s it
was evident that their ideologies were vastly different. The Republican Party wanted a
representative form of government that functioned in the interest of the people. This party, led by
Thomas Jefferson, supported a limited central government, with individual states retaining a
majority of the control. Jefferson s vision was for a nation of farmers, and farmers do not need
big government to survive. They feared a large central government would take away the rights of
the people. On the other hand, the Federalist Party, led by Alexander Hamilton, supported a strong
central government that would pursue policies in support of economic growth, which in turn
would provide the freedom the people wanted. Hamilton s followers also supported a diverse
economy.1 It is important to note here however, that both parties knew they would have to become
national parties in order to win any elections and both parties had followers in the north and in the
south. There was no sectional divide in the parties. Second, the Constitution played an important
role in the why the two party system worked so well during this period. The Constitution created a
system of government, which distributed power across three levels of government, so that no one
political body had ultimate power. The people

The Theories Of A Scientific Research
It comes in no surprise that only those theories which make accurate predictions as well as
fitting the empirical data count as being adequate and deemed good science. In relation to the
confusion associated with the unobservable mechanisms, anti realist offer the view that just
because the concepts of observable and unobservable are vague, it does not automatically mean
they are not useful or false (Okasha 2002). The dependence of observation in proposing theory
makes it hard and sometimes even impossible to come up conclusively falsify theories all the
time. Not to mention that observable and unobservable mechanisms are not that difference after
all (Okasha 2002). Correspondingly, as long as they are able to clarify and explain phenomena,
all we need to do is to choose the best available. Once we have a theory in hand, as a result, we
should have certain ability to predict the future, which is one of the key motivations for
performing scientific research. Model is one of the most popular methods adopted by researchers
to predict the future. The models of animal flocking behaviour, San Fransisco Bay model, and
climate model are just few of the models which are regularly used to represent and explain the
world in a simplified and mathematical way (Smith 2008; Weisberg 2013). Due to its countless
applicable properties, the use of models is not limited to science only. After all, there are numerous

Globalization Is The Increasing Inter Connectedness Of...
1. Globalization is defined in the book as the increasing inter connectedness of people and places
through converging economic, political, and cultural activities. Cultures and countries are now
linked much more than they used to be in the past as technology continues to grow. It s becoming
cheaper and easier to set up technology in lesser developed countries as well as that it continues to
grow in more developed countries. Fast food restaurants are now changing and transferring to other
countries and changing the menu to the culture of that country in an attempt to make more money.
These restaurants from America transferring to other countries are causing diets to become
unhealthy much as they have in America. Most American s don t go a week without eating at some
fast food restaurant. Western consumerist culture has also transferred. America is absolutely
infatuated with spending to get what they think they need when in actuality they don t. Most
scholars believe that economic organization is a large part of globalization. It includes global
communications that link all people. It also includes better transportation systems, transnational
business strategies, and promotion of free trade. There are many positives to globalization. One of
which is more money being put into lesser developed countries. This is a plus because this causes
people in those countries to be able to succeed and support themselves. Also governments of
different countries can better work together

The Pros And Cons Of The Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath are a very controversial band which was criticized because of the messages they
were said to send. As Graholm claims in his article Ritual Black Metal Popular Music as Occult
Mediation and Practice , Black Sabbath had a certain flirtation with darker occult themes,
apparent in the name of the band itself as well as in image and lyrics (Granholm 13). Their name
was one of the reasons why they were considered devilish. Nevertheless, their original name was
Earth and the choice of Black Sabbath was only a compromise, because there was another band
with that name in England. Another controversy regards where the name came from. Some
people argue that it derives from a movie called Black Sabbath , and there was also a book
written by Wheatle with this name. Their first album did not refer to Satan at all, but the record
label made it look like it did with the appearance of the Satanist Anton LaVey. The British release
of the album featured an upside down cross inside the cover. These additions were made without the

society the stereotypes that link heavy metal to Satanism should already have been overcome.
Indeed, it was more understandable back in the 1970s when it first appeared, while nowadays
people should be able to see that it is a type of music just like others. Listening to music is not the
cause of massacres such as the Columbine High School Massacre, which was certainly a terrible
event and people should reflect about it, but it should not be connected to music. The real
reflections should regard social contexts which may influence people, or the need that some people

Analyzing Cyclical Steam Injections Of A Heavy Oil Reservoir
For our senior project, we analyzed cyclical steam injections in a heavy oil reservoir using
reservoir simulations. We began the project as though we had been contracted to analyze a cyclical
steam injection project in a pay zone similar to the Clearwater formation in Cold Lake, Alberta. In
this heavy, dead oil reservoir the facilities, injectors, and producer are already set up in the field
with a seven spot orientation. The company wants further analysis on the project once the market
declined, requesting reservoir simulations be conducted over a six year period before proceeding.
Through the program CMG STARS, we were able to simulate production in a field with similar
characteristics, employing field data from technical papers referenced in this paper. The complex
equations simultaneously solved in CMG STARS including multiphase fluid flow and conservation
equations make the program an invaluable reservoir evaluation tool. Sensitivity analysis was
conducted to monitor the production responses to changes in steam injection parameters, compiling
over 40 simulations. The injection was optimized with a total of 35 simulations after identifying the
most significant parameters impacting production. Net present values and cumulative production of
oil and water were analyzed to construct a recommendation for the project. In this paper, we will
discuss the model construction, sensitivity analysis, optimization, and economic analysis in greater
detail. Although the constraints of

His life has changed with his father being away. The story of Sketch touches on many different
aspects of children going through struggles of having a parent or parents in prison. The story should
be allowed in library for children to read because there are hundreds of other children just like
Sketch.
Educators need to understand that not all children have both parents in their household. There
are large groups of kids who have parents in person. From The Night Dad Went to Jail, Higgins
presents a statistic that states, One in every 43 kids in the United States has a mom or dad in
prison. Sixty five percent of men in prison are dads and 75 percent of women in prison are
moms . (Higgins). Clearly, this shows there are more children with incarcerated parents then
some people assume. Since the 1980 s, there s been a steady increase in the amount of people sent
tor prison, and there is not a sign of the number of prisoner decreasing. Making this a perfect
opportunity to help those children with parent in prison to understand there are other children
going to same experience. An easy way to start assisting those children is by having them read a
story that is relatable to them and make feel less isolated.

Analysis Of George C. Marshall
Synthesis Essay George C. Marshall

Warren Bennis, a renowned scholar in leadership studies said, Leadership is the capacity to
translate vision into reality. (Bennis, 2014) Widely regarded as one of the greatest Generals in
U.S. military history and one of the most important men of the 20th century, George C. Marshall
was an extraordinary visionary and ethical leader. In this paper I will first, cover how George
Marshall used his understanding of pressures for organizational change to transform the post WWI
United States Army and how his transformational leadership put his vision into action. Next I will
cover how George Marshall was an ethical leader through ethical behavior and how his fair
mindedness helped create and enact the Marshall Plan. Last, I will relate the principle of a
visionary and ethical leader to my personal relevance. George C. Marshall was a strategic
visionary leader and an astute statesman. When Marshall was appointed as the Chief of Staff of
the Army in 1939 he knew that transforming the Army at a time of volatile and uncertain
environment was essential for survival . (Nelson, 1993) The flames of conflict worldwide seemed
about to get out of control. Europe stood on the verge of war. (Nelson, 1993) That same day
Germany invaded Poland and conducted what was known as the blitzkrieg. According to

The Is The Method Of Human Communication
Should infants really spend their childhood time watching useless junk that wouldn t benefit them
for later on in their life? Yes they re children and it wouldn t matter as much in that moment, but still
it s not beneficial and it won t help them. They could spend their time doing something more helpful
that could actually help them later in life like interacting with another kid or talking to their parents.
As defined by Webster s Dictionary, televisionis a system for transmitting visual images and sound
that are reproduced on screens, and used to broadcast programs for entertainment, information, and
education. Television has been around since 1927, and is viewed by everybody around the world,
including children. It is one of the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But on the other hand if you were to let your child interact with another kid instead of letting
them sit and watch TV they are more likely to be better off in life. For example, if you leave your
child sitting in front of the TV watching Teletubbies they are less likely to be on the same level
other kids are on because they don t just sit there and watch TV all day. The more time infants
spend sitting in front of the TV, the harder it will be for them to learn how to communicate. With
that being said TV is only a medium for transmitting data, nothing more nothing less.
It s important to teach kids during the childhood phase how to be social and to learn social skills
and how to talk and interact with one another all the things a child can t learn/do if all they do is
sit in front of a TV all day. If a child is not raised to know how to socialize with other people,
where do you think they re going to end up? A child needs to know how to talk to other human
beings, not just to Dora on the TV. Research has shown that kids that watch a lot of television
growing up tend to have a hard time paying attention in class or just staying concentrated. A child
is more likely to watch cartoons as soon as they get home and lie about not getting homework
instead of actually doing it. Don t misunderstand, watching TV is a really helpful tool if used right.
It s a known fact that children spend more time

The Production Of Animal Products For Human Consumption
The production of animal products for human consumption contributes over 14.5 towards global
greenhouse gas emissions, and is one of the biggest factors of climate change . Most consumers of
meat and dairy are uninformed of this fact, as they believe that transportation and the burning of
fossil fuels are the leading contributors towards global warming, and not the production of foods
that they consume on a daily basis and in large quantities. However, the consumers are not the only
ones to blame; in America, large meat and dairy corporations as well as the government are two
forces that heavily advertise and influence the consumption of animalproducts. In fact, companies
such as Tyson Foods have successfully lobbied for the Agriculture... Show more content on

To change their diets of meat and dairy, people have to understand and adopt growth mindsets.
When people have a growth mindset, they believe that intelligence and talent are developed
rather than fixed . People who have growth mindsets are more open towards challenges, and
make efforts to learn. The same can be applied to changing one s diet to consume less meat and
dairy. People with growth mindsets are open towards new experiences. Consequently, they will be
more willing to switch their diets to include less meats and dairies. At the same people, people who
are less likely to change their diets, 62% of Americans , can learn to adopt a growth mindset,
through understanding oneself, learning from experiences, and seeing things from different
perspectives and challenging oneself to take action . After adopting a growth mindset, people can
use positive psychology techniques to challenge themselves to consume less animal products. For
people to understand the reason why they need to consume less meat and dairy products, they
have to apply the concept of PERMA, the model of well being. They need to identify that their
well being is greater when eating less animal products and explain it using aspects of PERMA. For
example, consumers who have made an active change in their lives to change their diets can explain
their reasoning with experiencing more Positive Emotion they receive

Progressive Tax Vs Regressive Tax
The subjects of every state ought to contribute towards the support of the government, as nearly as
possible, in proportion to their respective abilities; that is, in proportion to the revenue which they
respectively enjoy under the protection of the state.
A progressive tax is a tax where the tax rate increases as your income increases. The progressive
tax takes a larger percentage from the income of high income earners than it does from low
income individuals based on the concept of ability to pay. By dividing taxpayers into categories
based on income level it then allows the wealth of the country to be equalized.
When individuals envision progressive tax systems they are usually referred to the income tax that
is due on April 15th of every year. However, progressive taxes comes in various forms, such as
estate taxes or luxury taxes on consumer goods.
Estate taxes require higher net worth individuals to pay an additional tax on their property when
they die. If the value ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However a regressive tax is the exact opposite. Higher income taxpayers pay a smaller
percentage of their income than lower income taxpayers because the tax is not based on ability
to pay. A regressive tax is generally a tax that is applied uniformly. This means that it hits lower
income individuals harder, such as sale taxes. When a regressive tax is based on consumption
such as a sales tax, it can introduce an element of freedom of choice. However, only the
consumers whom choose to use the particular good or service must pay the tax that follows, and
those who consume more frequently most pay more taxes than the occasional users. However,
consumers have some measure of control of how much they pay in taxes. For instances, if the
consumer wishes to reduce what they pay in taxes, they can cut back on or eliminate the use of that
particular good or

Women s Suffrage By Susan B. Anthony Silver Dollar
It s sobering to realize that it s only been 95 years since the first woman legally cast her ballot in
an American presidential election. March is Women s History Month and before it s over for
2015, I d like to propose that we launch an effort to memorialize the immense contributions of the
American women s suffrage leaders by adding their likeness to at least one of our pieces of currency.
The Susan B. Anthony silver dollar had a short but awkward run from 1979 1981 and again in
1999 before production halted. In recent months, there have been discussions about replacing
President Jackson on the $20 bill with someone else. Why not the three leading women who
devoted their lives to the rights of women voters and changed the course of American history
without ever casting a legal ballot of their own?
In the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol stands a striking, white sculpture of three incredible women. It is
the first sculpture in the Capitol sculpted by a woman (Adelaide Johnson), of women (Susan B.
Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott) and for women. The sculpture gives the
appearance of being unfinished or incomplete as a way of illustrating that the contributions of
women to American government are still taking place and will never be finished. Today, women
have a voice in our government because of the sacrifices and courageous efforts of those first
Women s Suffrage crusaders. They challenged convention, changed history and lived by the
conviction of Susan B.

Informative Speech On Julie Andrews
The singer/actress Julie Andrews is known to many younger generations as Mary Poppins, or
Queen Clarisse Renaldi, but what younger generations don t know is how this wonderful
actress came into stardom. Julie Andrews was born Julia Elizabeth Wells on October 1st, 1935.
Her parents were Elizabeth and Edward wells. Her parents divorced during the outbreak of
World War II, and her mother remarried a man named Ted Andrews in 1943. Julie began singing
when she was eight years old. Her step father, Pops , gave her singing lessons as a way to bond
with her after marrying her mother. He continued to do so once he heard how amazing her voice
was when she sang. Shortly after, she started receiving professional singing lessons from Lillian
Stiles Allen,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Julie played a dual role in the file Victor/Victoria, which led her to earn a golden globe award for
best actress in a motion picture musical/comedy, as well as a nomination for the academy
award for best actress. In 1993 she starred in the American premiere of Putting It Together. Later
in 1995 she starred in the musical version of Victor/Victoria, which was her first shoe back at
Broadway in thirty five years. In 1997 she had to quit Victor/Victoria due to a throat issue what
required her to have surgery on her vocal chords, which inevitably caused her to lose the purity
in her singing voice. She filed a lawsuit against the hospital and doctors because they had assured
her that she would still be able to sing like she had, and she eventually won. She appeared in the
film The Princess Diaries in 2001, where he starred as the main characters grandma, Queen
Clarisse Renaldi. In the sequel, The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement was where Julie sang
for the first time since her surgery. In 2003 she made her debut as a theatre director when she
directed a revival of The Boy Friend, which was the same production that Julie first made her
Broadway debut in 1954. Today she still makes appearances on film and on television, and is
loved and appreciated by all. Although she is mostly famous for her roles in films, she would
never be where she is today without the publicity she received from her performances in theatre

Managing Cash Flow Management ( Cfm )
Managing Cash Flow
Cash Flow is composed of revenue or expense streams that change cash accounts over a specified
period. The statement of cash flows showing the amount of cash generated and used by a company
during the period is calculated by adding noncash charges (such as depreciation) to net income after
taxes. Changes in cash are usually derived from one of three activities financing, operations or
investing.
Sales growth can conceal many problems. When managing a growing company, watch expenses
carefully. If you see expenses growing faster than sales, examine costs carefully to find places to
cut or control them.
The lag between the time you have to pay your suppliers and employees and the time you collect
from your customers can be a problem. The solution is cash flow management (CFM). CFM
means delaying disbursements of cash as long as possible while requiring anyone who owes you
money to pay it quickly.
Rules (FASB) that govern the creation of financial statements are not about tracking the actual flow
of cash through your business. They are focused on measuring profit or loss.
Income does not tell you what happened to your cash balance during the period. It merely defines
net income based on the accounting rules used to create the income statement.
Only one component of understanding and managing your cash flow.

Revolution and Power Essay
What is a revolution? Is it a country declaring its independence or the falling of the bourgeois? Is
it brother fighting brother or the story of a nation emerging from its own ashes? Or is it neither?
Revolution is the story of change: changing of power, changing of governments, changing of
minds. Power has become an increasingly hard term to define, especially when it is so intertwined
with some of civilization s most dynamic aspects, people and technology. Technology changes
power. It is common knowledge to never bring a knife to a gunfight, or a gun to a bomb fight. In
either scenario, one would not wish to be on the losing end, and technology is setting the bar higher
each day. But, as stated before, power is intertwined with both... Show more content on

After the adoption of the gun in warfare, kingdoms that either chose not to adopt the technology,
or simply could not afford it, did not fare well in combat against those kingdoms that did, making
guns a wartime necessity. But guns cost money, and the common people had the resources. Thus a
majority of Europe entered the age of debtors and the commodity of wealth. Guns were a large
commodity because of their high demand and the skill required in their construction. Kings became
indebted to their own people in their purchase of guns and, as a result, the dynamic of power
shifted. As stated by Adam Smith in his book Wealth of Nations , the wealth of a nation did not
depend upon the amount of gold in the king s treasury, but on the product of its citizens. With this
redistribution of wealth came a redistribution of power and the emergence of a new public sphere;
one that was increasingly interested in the political, economic, and social workings of their
surroundings. Guns were not the only technological revolution that changed the workings of power.
The printing press was arguably the greatest technological innovation ever created within the
confines of historical media. Gutenberg and his printing press made possible the concept of mass
consumption. Word of mouth was always a popular option for spreading knowledge and
information but it was limited both by memory and locality. Word could only travel so far before
becoming incomprehensible, and

Essay on Man vs. Environment in To Build a Fire by Jack...
One can express many different types of themes in Jack London s, To Build a Fire . Though I feel
strongly that London s theme in the story is about that the environment shapes who we are because
it shows that the man is not strong enough to live up to his environment. Allowing the environment
to kill the man indicates that he is weak both mentally and biologically, while on the other hand the
dog is stronger by surviving the same harsh environment. Instinct superior to reason is another
theme that is highly portrayal able in London s story. In order for the dog to survive and the man
to die, the dog required instinct, of which the man lacked. The man did acquire reason and
observance but not good enough to allow him to reach his goal... Show more content on

The man is also weak in the face of nature as nature tortures him with the physical accidents the
man suffers. He firstly begins when his cheekbones and nose went numb and becomes worse as he
looses touch and grasp of his hands, finishing off with the freezing of his corpse and sudden stiff
death. London exclaims about the accounts the man has suffered, This man did not know cold.
(London, 487) and He was loosing in his battle with the frost. (London, 493) I do agree because the
man is a new comer, a chechaquo, meaning that it is the man s first contact with such freezing
environment. The man constantly through out the story efforts in combating against the forces of
nature that he can not control the reason being because he was inexperienced to such environment,
therefore the man is bound to be with the odds and like London exclaims, loose his battle with his
environment. The environment shaped him such that it proved he is not fit enough to live in the
extreme cold.
Alternatively, the dog has a different biology make up than the human. The husky dog has a thick
furry coat cuddling his warm body. Even though the dog probably never experienced such climate
as the man, its biology make up allows the dog to survive and is therefore fit enough to support
such extreme cold. The other difference between the man and the dog is

Judicial System In Texas
In the nineteen thirties, the people of Missouri would pick judges and eventually politicians
realized they could buy judges. They would buy votes especially an American politician Tom
Pendergast, would try to pack the court with those who agreed with his political ideas. Until
merit selection, the lawyers went against it and wanted a better way for judicial selection. Both
Democrats and Republicans worked together and campaigned without financial interest. Leading
to the Missouri plan where the judge is now chosen by merit and qualifications. In the Missouri
Plan, seven people are on this commission. Three citizens appointed by the governor, three
lawyers elected by lawyers of a different part of the state and the chief justice. Lawyers go
through the judicial appellate commission and the judicial appellate commission picks three. After
this, the governor picks one to become the judge. After a year serving then a ballot asks voters of
Missouri if the judge should be kept in office or not.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1. The commission nominates the qualified individuals. 2. The governor appoints a nominee to a
judicial position. 3 Retention election follows the initial term. A benefit of the Missouri Plan is
that it is based on qualification competition rather than political affiliation competition and is
now copied in thirty states. In Texas, judges are elected usually by political party affiliation.
Usually Republicans are chosen in Texas with the straight ticket vote. The problem is that were
taking away from the different qualifications that people have by simply voting politically. I
prefer the Missouri plan over electing judges just by politics. It just seems like a better way to
pick judges. I think if political affiliation was removed the judges would be best chosen by their
history or quality as any other job usually

  • 2. Essay on crusades Crusading, much like Imperialism in the 20th century, was all about expansion. During the middle ages however, it was more about the expansion of religion rather then power, or at least that s the way it was preached. Crusading by definition is; a holy war authorized by the pope, who proclaimed it in the name of god of Christ. It was believed to be Christ s own enterprise, legitimized by his personal mandate(1). This essay examines the background of the crusadesto offer a better understanding as to why they occurred. It also examines the effects that the crusades had on the world. It is easy to look at the crusades as a violent meaningless act, but one must understand the type of setting this movement... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knights would go in the hope of acquiring power and control over this new land. The chance at commercial success in new places was a huge determining factor for the western merchants of the day. Adventure, money, land, and religion were all big reasons for participating in the Crusades of the Middle Ages (4). The first Crusade began on November 27th 1095, as a response to the attack on the Byzantine Empire by the Muslims. Pope Urban II inspired many clergy and laypeople to join the crusading force. There was much excitement for the new adventure that awaited the people of Europe. They united at the Byzantine capital of Constantinople and launched a counter attack against the Seljuk conquerors of Anatolia. They then fought and overtook many city states belonging to the Byzantine Empire with final destination Jerusalem, in their sights (5). The Majority of people who joined the crusades were from France, with others coming from Lorraine, Burgundy, Flanders, and Italy. Many common people were interested in crusading as well as noble individuals. The reason for this was the chance of finding and claiming any land once they had overtaken parts of the Middle East (6). The crusaders enjoyed considerable success during their first couple of years. In only their first month of crusading they conquered Anatolia in the year 1097. During the same year they won a decisive victory over the Turks, during which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Maslow s Theory Of Motivation Based On A Holistic Approach Maslow dealt with the psychological growth process, considered man as a biological organism, and began his study with the theory of motivation based on a holistic approach. The holistic approach paints a multidimensional whole picture of a person integrating the physical, mental, and spiritual through a growth perspective. According to Sengupta (2011), Maslow defines growth as the continuous development of talents, capacities, creativity, wisdom and character, the various processes, which bring the person toward ultimate self actualization (p. 102). Maslow did not ignore the spiritual dimension, but mainly focused on the biological nature of man. He believed the entire person, not just part of him is motivated. Maslow s motivational theory is based on the idea that human behavior is controlled through a number of developing fundamental needs that operates in a fixed sequence and needs are defined as a condition of deficit (Sengupta, 2011, p. 102). Needs are not always caused by shortfalls, however, they may be founded on an individual s understanding of inner strength and high ethical standards in order to understand their maximum potential. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid consists of five basic levels of needs, progressing from physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self actualization. According to Robbins and Judge (2014), physiological and safety needs are lower levels needs that are predominantly satisfied externally whereas social, esteem, and ... • 4. Civilian Court System The question has arisen, since the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, of how the individuals that are accused of being involved in terrorist attacks on the U.S. should be prosecuted. There are two ways that they could be tired. They could be tried in the civilian court system or by a military tribunal. If they are tried in a civilian court system this could prove to the world that our system is fair and works for everyone and that the United Statesis a nation of laws and justice. On the other hand, the civilian courts are set up for the application of constitutional rights for the citizens of the United States. There are some issues with determining the correct path because there are some complications in distinguishing between some of the acts, whether they are acts of crime or acts of terror. One of the biggest issues is that there is no legal definition of what the term terrorism consists of. Other countries have a legal definition however, the United States does not. In contrast to other countries, the United States has no legal definition of terrorism; thus no prisoner has ever accused or tried on the simple offense of terrorism (Ferrell Websdale, 2009, p. 329). Also, there is not a distinct ending to a war either. Based on the decision made by the Supreme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An inner city school is located in the central area of a major city, where most people live in townhouses or apartment buildings. Sometimes when people hear the word inner city the first thought that comes to mind is a lower income area. You may also think of the people who live in the inner city. This population can be quite diverse, with racial groups such as African American, Hispanics, and so on. The biggest issue facing the inner city is the schools that lay in these areas. Since many people in these areas are minority and live below the poverty line, this has caused issues with financing area schools. • 11. The Last Report On Miracles At The Little No Horse Family, peer influence, nature versus nurture, religion, and formal schooling all have an impact on making individuals unique. With so many factors shaping one s identity, it is difficult to determine which play the most pivotal role in one coming into their own. Most interestingly, identity is a controlling factor in motivating one s behavior and actions. A common thread in shaping identity across all cultures is the role of spiritual tradition. Through the characters in The Last Report on Miracles at the Little No Horse, Louise Erdrich confronts individual and communal responses to that reality. Since tradition is symbolic, not material, one can not physically hold on to their tradition. In other words, an individual makes the conscious decision to allow or disallow tradition to shape their own identity. Pauline Puyat is the product of cultural conflict, which shapes her twisted, violent nature as a character, and through her Erdrich explores the winning of the west from a non western perspective. While some literary figures choose to continue along the lines of their cultural traditions, others find flaws in traditional practices and decide to rebel against tradition. Marie Kashpaw. Defying tradition is an interesting theme in literature, as well. Not all traditions should be continued, such as the succession of abuse in the PUyat amily. • 12. Pt1420 Unit 6 Paper Before a participation process can be designed and implemented, one must determine if there is a problem to begin with. I would argue the need for judgment links to tyranny. The person setting the table for a potential process has control over how the problem is framed and if there is a problem to begin with. Perhaps the public needs to be involved in even the planning process of the process itself? Could this look like a group of stakeholders? If the goal is to create a horizontal, people controlled system of decision making? A compromise that deals with the challenge articulated above is some form of power devolution. It s not an invitation to have too many cooks in the kitchen ; rather devolution promotes the decentralization of power and decision making. • 13. Integrated Thematic Units Essay INTRODUCTION Benjamin Franklin once said Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn. So, the question I pose today is how do we involve children so that they learn? How do we spark that want inside of a student to because a lifelong learner. The best way to build students knowledge and thirst for greater understanding is by creating connections. Having connections between prior knowledge, different subject areas, the outside world, and what is being learned now and in the future will help students to achieve higher levels of thinking, as well as, the twenty first century knowledge and skills that are needed in the collegiate and professional words today. One way to make these connections is by using integrated thematic units. Inga Randle (1997) discussed the fourth grade students of Barbara Pedersen who were so eager to learn they would willingly skip recess to be in the classroom learning. Pedersen used integrated thematic instruction to inspire her students. So, by learning what an integrated thematic unit is, why integrated thematic units should be used, and how to use integrated thematic units teachers can become more like Barbara Pedersen and prepare students more for independent thinking and higher education. WHAT IS AN INTEGRATED THEMATIC UNIT? Patricia Roberts (1996) describes integrated curriculum as a way of teaching and a way of planning and organizing the instructional program so the discrete disciplines of subject matter are ... Frames help us understand the different perspectives people have. It is important to note that frames come from language. In his book Words that Work , Frank Luntz describes frames as the context of any message (Luntz, p.26). He goes on to say that context, or framing, is important because it explains the why of a message: without context, you cannot establish a message s value, its impact, or most importantly, its relevance (Luntz, p.26). Naming is a crucial aspect when discussing frames, as these can influence how an individual perceives a certain idea or political policy. In class, we watched the video where Jimmy Kimmel... In 1955 the FDA approved and provided licensure for the polio vaccinefor public use within two hours (Gale, Null, 2015). This was the fastest vaccine approved by the FDA ever. Even though the amount of time in each class would decrease, in order for students to have more energy, become more attentive, and less tired during class, school districts must allow longer lunch periods. In his book The Future of Life (2002), Wilson satirizes the language of two groups on opposing ends of the environmental spectrum. In this satire, Wilson brilliantly outlines the unproductive nature of these groups in their discussions. Wilson first presents his audience with a parody of critics of the environmental movement, in the passage The People First Critic Stereotypes the Environmentalists. In this article, we see the anti environmentalists talking about things that almost seem pleasant when commenting on the environmentalists agendas. For example, one of the criticisms is that the environmental laws will create more jobs. In a nation where many citizens fear that immigrants are taking the jobs of Americans, more jobs sounds like a good thing. Additionally, Wilson s exaggerations are not far off from what people might say in real life. When reading Wilson s statement about what the environmentalists will do with their power (i.e. locking someone up because an endangered spider was found on their property), one might be reminded of the 2016 election, and how ludicrous statements were uttered to combat the opposition. Wilson also parodies the environmentalists, and how they talk about their enemy. Much of the same satire is used in this article; however, it is much closer to the truth. • 29. Theme Of Honesty In The Crucible An unknown speaker once said, A real man will be honest no matter how painful the truth is. A coward hides behind his lies and deceit. This quote relates to characters in The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, such as John Proctor, Rebecca Nurse, and Giles Corey. Each person took action and stood up for what was right. Faced with tough decisions, many characters throughout the play are severely tested by others in their surroundings because of the ways they lie, the ways they make false accusations, and the ways that they ultimately die for a cause. At the beginning of the play, Abigail Williams lies to avoid trouble. She tries to protect her life over the life of others instead of doing the right thing by being honest about what happened in the woods. She lies multiple times in the play accusing others of witchcraft, although it was false. When the courts put Abigail to the test to see if she tells the truth, she fails and drags most of the town down with her. Unlike Abigail, Elizabeth has always been known for her honesty. Her husband John says that Elizabeth never told a lie. Yet when it matters most, Elizabeth lies to try to save her husband s life. Ultimately, when Danforth and Hawthorne put her up to the test she fails to tell the truth and kills John. John, attempting to save himself, confesses to witchcraft. • 35. The Party System, Republican Vs. Federalist Final Exam Part 2 _QC There are several reasons why the two party system, Republican vs. Federalist, worked so well in the 1790 s. First, when the political parties emerged in the 1790 s it was evident that their ideologies were vastly different. The Republican Party wanted a representative form of government that functioned in the interest of the people. This party, led by Thomas Jefferson, supported a limited central government, with individual states retaining a majority of the control. Jefferson s vision was for a nation of farmers, and farmers do not need big government to survive. They feared a large central government would take away the rights of the people. On the other hand, the Federalist Party, led by Alexander Hamilton, supported a strong central government that would pursue policies in support of economic growth, which in turn would provide the freedom the people wanted. Hamilton s followers also supported a diverse economy.1 It is important to note here however, that both parties knew they would have to become national parties in order to win any elections and both parties had followers in the north and in the south. There was no sectional divide in the parties. Second, the Constitution played an important role in the why the two party system worked so well during this period. The Constitution created a system of government, which distributed power across three levels of government, so that no one political body had ultimate power. The people ... The Theories Of A Scientific Research It comes in no surprise that only those theories which make accurate predictions as well as fitting the empirical data count as being adequate and deemed good science. In relation to the confusion associated with the unobservable mechanisms, anti realist offer the view that just because the concepts of observable and unobservable are vague, it does not automatically mean they are not useful or false (Okasha 2002). The dependence of observation in proposing theory makes it hard and sometimes even impossible to come up conclusively falsify theories all the time. Not to mention that observable and unobservable mechanisms are not that difference after all (Okasha 2002). Correspondingly, as long as they are able to clarify and explain phenomena, all we need to do is to choose the best available. Once we have a theory in hand, as a result, we should have certain ability to predict the future, which is one of the key motivations for performing scientific research. Model is one of the most popular methods adopted by researchers to predict the future. The models of animal flocking behaviour, San Fransisco Bay model, and climate model are just few of the models which are regularly used to represent and explain the world in a simplified and mathematical way (Smith 2008; Weisberg 2013). • 37. Globalization Is The Increasing Inter Connectedness Of... 1. Globalization is defined in the book as the increasing inter connectedness of people and places through converging economic, political, and cultural activities. Cultures and countries are now linked much more than they used to be in the past as technology continues to grow. It s becoming cheaper and easier to set up technology in lesser developed countries as well as that it continues to grow in more developed countries. Fast food restaurants are now changing and transferring to other countries and changing the menu to the culture of that country in an attempt to make more money. These restaurants from America transferring to other countries are causing diets to become unhealthy much as they have in America. Most American s don t go a week without eating at some fast food restaurant. Western consumerist culture has also transferred. America is absolutely infatuated with spending to get what they think they need when in actuality they don t. Most scholars believe that economic organization is a large part of globalization. It includes global communications that link all people. It also includes better transportation systems, transnational business strategies, and promotion of free trade. There are many positives to globalization. One of which is more money being put into lesser developed countries. This is a plus because this causes people in those countries to be able to succeed and support themselves. Also governments of different countries can better work together ... • 38. The Pros And Cons Of The Black Sabbath Black Sabbath are a very controversial band which was criticized because of the messages they were said to send. As Graholm claims in his article Ritual Black Metal Popular Music as Occult Mediation and Practice , Black Sabbath had a certain flirtation with darker occult themes, apparent in the name of the band itself as well as in image and lyrics (Granholm 13). Their name was one of the reasons why they were considered devilish. Nevertheless, their original name was Earth and the choice of Black Sabbath was only a compromise, because there was another band with that name in England. Another controversy regards where the name came from. Some people argue that it derives from a movie called Black Sabbath , and there was also a book written by Wheatle with this name. Their first album did not refer to Satan at all, but the record label made it look like it did with the appearance of the Satanist Anton LaVey. The British release of the album featured an upside down cross inside the cover. These additions were made without the consent of the band, only to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Listening to music is not the cause of massacres such as the Columbine High School Massacre, which was certainly a terrible event and people should reflect about it, but it should not be connected to music. We began the project as though we had been contracted to analyze a cyclical steam injection project in a pay zone similar to the Clearwater formation in Cold Lake, Alberta. In this heavy, dead oil reservoir the facilities, injectors, and producer are already set up in the field with a seven spot orientation. The company wants further analysis on the project once the market declined, requesting reservoir simulations be conducted over a six year period before proceeding. Through the program CMG STARS, we were able to simulate production in a field with similar characteristics, employing field data from technical papers referenced in this paper. The complex equations simultaneously solved in CMG STARS including multiphase fluid flow and conservation equations make the program an invaluable reservoir evaluation tool. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to monitor the production responses to changes in steam injection parameters, compiling over 40 simulations. The injection was optimized with a total of 35 simulations after identifying the most significant parameters impacting production. Net present values and cumulative production of oil and water were analyzed to construct a recommendation for the project. In this paper, we will discuss the model construction, sensitivity analysis, optimization, and economic analysis in greater detail. Although the constraints of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Educators need to understand that not all children have both parents in their household. There are large groups of kids who have parents in person. From The Night Dad Went to Jail, Higgins presents a statistic that states, One in every 43 kids in the United States has a mom or dad in prison. Sixty five percent of men in prison are dads and 75 percent of women in prison are moms . (Higgins). Clearly, this shows there are more children with incarcerated parents then some people assume. Since the 1980 s, there s been a steady increase in the amount of people sent tor prison, and there is not a sign of the number of prisoner decreasing. Making this a perfect opportunity to help those children with parent in prison to understand there are other children going to same experience. The more time infants spend sitting in front of the TV, the harder it will be for them to learn how to communicate. The Susan B. Anthony silver dollar had a short but awkward run from 1979 1981 and again in 1999 before production halted. In recent months, there have been discussions about replacing President Jackson on the $20 bill with someone else. Why not the three leading women who devoted their lives to the rights of women voters and changed the course of American history without ever casting a legal ballot of their own? • 50. Managing Cash Flow Management ( Cfm ) Managing Cash Flow Cash Flow is composed of revenue or expense streams that change cash accounts over a specified period. The statement of cash flows showing the amount of cash generated and used by a company during the period is calculated by adding noncash charges (such as depreciation) to net income after taxes. Changes in cash are usually derived from one of three activities financing, operations or investing. Sales growth can conceal many problems. When managing a growing company, watch expenses carefully. If you see expenses growing faster than sales, examine costs carefully to find places to cut or control them. The lag between the time you have to pay your suppliers and employees and the time you collect from your customers can be a problem. The solution is cash flow management (CFM). CFM means delaying disbursements of cash as long as possible while requiring anyone who owes you money to pay it quickly. Rules (FASB) that govern the creation of financial statements are not about tracking the actual flow of cash through your business. They are focused on measuring profit or loss. Income does not tell you what happened to your cash balance during the period. It merely defines net income based on the accounting rules used to create the income statement. Revolution is the story of change: changing of power, changing of governments, changing of minds. Power has become an increasingly hard term to define, especially when it is so intertwined with some of civilization s most dynamic aspects, people and technology. Technology changes power. Guns were a large commodity because of their high demand and the skill required in their construction. Kings became indebted to their own people in their purchase of guns and, as a result, the dynamic of power shifted. As stated by Adam Smith in his book Wealth of Nations , the wealth of a nation did not depend upon the amount of gold in the king s treasury, but on the product of its citizens.
