How Harriet Did Not Have Such A Hard Time Living With...
Harriet did not expect to have such a hard time living with White students. She assumed that since she
attended a school in a White neighborhood and interacted with White people in high school, that the
experience would be the same at Cornell. What she did not take into account were the cultural
differences that emerge when living in the same environment. The experience for her was unpleasant:
I don t remember how I wound up in Mary Donlon [residence hall], but that was a horrible experience
my freshman year. That was the first time I d lived with White people, lived with White women,
young women, and it was just an awful experience. Culturally we are so different... not that I disliked
any of my White classmates or White people or White professors. I didn t really relate to them very
much. In fact, I don t even remember most of them at this point.
Jocelyn did not want to live on West campus because she heard that mostly White students lived there
and that there was a lot of drinking, however, she still ended up living and working as an RA in a
predominantly White dorm on North campus. Jocelyn had difficulty explaining her college
experiences. Some of the difficulty seems to stem from not wanting to focus on the negative
experiences. She believes that her experiences, both good and bad shaped her life and made her the
person she is today. Jocelyn almost seems more fascinated with the behavior of White students than
upset. She acknowledges some of the traditions

How Is Timothy Treadwell Selfish
In the Grizzly Maze book, the author Nick Jans writes about the Timothy Treadwell, who spent and
sacrificed his whole life for the bears. Treadwell lived around brown bears in a National Park in
Alaska for thirteen seasons. He became a national celebrity in the United States, claiming to defend
the bears from poachers and other threats. For many years, he educated people about the bears while
protecting them from intruders. One day Treadwell and his companion Amie Huguenard were mauled
and eaten by brown bears as they were camping in Alaska s Katmai National Parks. His actions were
always criticized by bear biologists, and there many other people who believe that he was actually
harming the bears instead of helping them. Although many people ... Show more content on

For example, In the Grizzly Man movie, he was taking his shots with the bears again and again that
seemed to try correcting his own appearance between people. It looked like he was more concerned
with making a good movie rather than making it look real. Another example of his selfishness is
poaching, He put the poaching issue in front of people to get the most attention and popularity. He had
no proof against poachers. The author states, He had just needed an image to dramatize the poaching
issue, Timothy told Walter and thought no one would notice (Jans 37). Alaska Park officers say they
never find anything about poaching in their area that prove his beliefs (36). In addition, Timothy said
he was protecting the bear, but he actually put their life in danger through his selfish approach to get
fame. Deb Liggett of anchorage daily news says The last time I saw Timothy, I told him to be safe out
there and that none of my staff would ever forgive him, they had to kill a bear because of him . He
took her warning lightly and believe that bears will never hurt him. His egotism took the life of two
bears. Furthermore, Sometime Timothy brings girls with him those were not familiar with bears. Such
as, Amie, who died with Timothy was scared of the bears (52). He brings Amie with him on unsafe
spot short of any precaution like gun or pepper spray and put her life in danger that shows his

This article develops a conceptual model to explain how culture impacts negotiation . It draws on
previous research on culture and on negotiation to develop an understandin g of how culture affects
negotiation processes and outcomes. The article begins with a review of fundamental concepts in the
literature on negotiation and culture. These concepts provide a language for what we know and what
we do not know about culture and negotiation and allow us to build a model of factors affecting inter
cultural negotiation process and outcome.
A MODEL OF INTER CULTURAL NEGOTIATION Negotiation
Negotiation is a form of social interaction. It is the process by which two or more parties try to resolve
perceived incompatibl e goals (Carnevale Pruitt, 1992). In order to understand the effect of culture on
negotiation, it is useful to have a mental model of negotiation. What is it that people mean when they
say they negotiate? What is involved in negotiating? What is a good outcome in negotiation? What
does it take to get a good outcome? What goes wrong in a negotiation that has a poor outcome?
However, if culture has an effect on negotiation, the mental models of negotiators from one culture
may not map on to the mental models of negotiators from another culture, making the speci® cation
of a single mental model problematic. There are two ways to approach this problem of specifying a

* We wanted to check the initiative taken by the Consumer s to fight against malpractices and its
effects?
* Does education level of people make them more aware about the unfair trade practices going in the
consumer market?
* Are people aware about consumer courts and consumer protection acts?
* Do people take the initiative to go ahead and fight against, raise voice against these malpractices?
Through our research we will try to find out all the above objectives and come to a conclusion
whether the steps and actions implemented by the government to raise the level of consumer
awareness among the masses is affective or not?
Limitations of the research * The project is not purely based on primary information but includes a lot
of information obtained from various sources.
* The sample size is small compared to the population of our country.
* The project has approximately 50% of primary data and rest of the data is secondary.
* The project is based on human assumptions and their self thinking as different persons thinking may
differ.
Consumer vs. Customer
A consumer and customer are commonly used in the same context at times in business literature.
However, they are not the same. Consumers are just one sub group of customers. Consider this
example with the Philips Company. If a restaurant buys a Philips mixie (blender) for

Blurring The Boundary
Mutants
The world we live in is advancing more and more every day. We are beginning to exceed boundaries
and reach new limits. Science and Technology has come a long way since Copernicus said that the sun
was the center of the universe. Science fiction is slowly coming to life. We are building robots that are
extremely similar to humans, modifying genes, and creating clones. Authors wrote about these
abstract ideas not too long ago, but at the time they seemed far fetched. Scientific and technological
advancement may be for good or for evil. The good side is the advancements in medicine that could
limit the risk of a particular disease or even cure one. The potentially bad side is the steps we may take
to get there without knowing the long term effect. In Michael Bess s article Blurring the Boundary
Between Person and Product, he discusses the advancement of genetic ... Show more content on

He looks at the ins and outs of modifying a person s genes and what the selection process will be like
for parents. Moral, ethical, and economic boundaries of genetic modification are discussed as well. In
Tenzin Gyatso s article ethics and the New Genetics, he describes how scientists are beginning to
perform unimaginable tasks. Such as, cloning and genetic modification to build a baby. This building
of babies may lead to the development of a super race. A super race, consists of people who are
genetically modified in the developmental stages of birth, so that they are born with characteristics
and advantages chosen by the parents. For example, parents will choose eye color, hair color, height,
weight, intelligence level, athletic ability, and anything else they want for their child. A super race,
will have everything thing that we wish we had. Although the idea of a super race, sounds splendid, it
is not all sunshine and rainbows. Developing a super race, will Further separate social classes, start a

melbourneminidiggers.com.au Things to Remember When Hiring a Mini Digger
When you are excavating a property, it is important to hire the right piece of equipment for the task at
hand. A Dingo mini digger or excavator is just as effective, if not more so, than larger pieces of
excavation equipment for many types of situations. To ensure that you receive the right mini digger
for your particular task, you must consider the following things.
Type of Excavation
Understand that type of excavation is necessary for your project. The mini diggers are ideal for the
following tasks:
Trenching
Rotary Hoeing
Post Stump Holes
Stump Grinding
Soil Moving
Small Access Jobs
What Kind of Attachment Is Necessary
Along with the basic mini digger, you will need the right attachment to accomplish your project. The
trencher attachment will dig the hole and then reverse to cover over the trencher once you install the
cables, pipes or other necessary items in the trench. For the garden or other landscape project, the
rotary hoe attachment breaks up the soil to obtain the ideal texture for planting and seeding. Auger
attachments for the diggers come in different sizes to dig post stump holes to the exact dimensions for
your fence or other posts. With the stump grinder for this digger, the operator will be able to grind
right, left and forward, and this ensure that the machine will throw the debris away from the digger at
all times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Martha Mccaskey
Abstract: Martha McCaskey has been consistently outperforming herself maintaining high levels of
integrity in each project assignment. Currently, she was the project lead for a critical project entitled
Silicon 6 which apart from having high significance for her personal career also had high significance
from her company s future perspective. The project required Martha to research upon manufacturing
technologies and plant setup costs for a computer chip that the client s competitor was planning to
launch soon. Martha has been promised a promotion to group manager and the organization has been
offered interest in assigning approximately 10 new projects. The project presents an ethical dilemma
in front of Martha wherein she needs access ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The case speaks about a project wherein McCaskey was able to get project critical information just 3 4
days before the final presentation and hence I feel the best alternative for McCaskey would be to best
utilize the week available at hand in gaining additional information. In doing so, she can first of all
begin with interviewing Devon but not to gain proprietary information about the target company but
utilize him as a professional consultant who could assist them in researching upon the latest
manufacturing technologies used in computer chips manufacturing and the associated operating costs.
Devon had recently helped a European company in setting up a manufacturing plant and seemed
extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about the semiconductor industry. The discussion can be
focused to revolve around the key trends and technologies affecting the semiconductor industry.
Interviewing Devon with direct questions to seek proprietary information about the target company
would compromise McCaskey s business values and also possibly tarnish her name in the consulting
industry. Devon had been extremely supportive and informative in the first meeting but as a good
business professional without giving away any proprietary information about any company and hence
could have taken legal action against IAD once he realized the intentions of McCaskey. Also, there
was no guarantee that

Roman Entertainment
Introduction Ancient Romans, like the Greeks, loved entertainment. Their idea of entertainment was
usually something involving death and drama. They liked to watch plays, watch gladiators, participate
or watch games, and watch or participate in animal hunts. Colosseum Events The Colosseum is a
famous arena that s still partly standing today. This arena could seat over 50,000 people. On hot days,
a canopy was raised over the Colosseum to protect the viewers from the heat. In the Colosseum, many
events were held for the Romans to watch. Watching was free so that everyone could come. The
events held almost always involved death and destruction. There were the gladiators, the feeding of

It could hold 300,000 people and was filled almost completely with dirt. It was oval in shape and
made during the time of an Etruscan king. Charioteers, even ones that were slaves, that won in Circus
Maximus became so rich that they were richer than emperors. The track could hold twelve chariots
and had gates the chariots started in. The gates and track were arranged so that all the chariots had to
go the same distance around the track. The chariots were light and usually led by four horses. They
also usually ran seven laps around the track and there were many sharp turns, so it was very dangerous
and the charioteers sometimes fell off. This is why charioteers wore helmets and carried a dagger, so
they could cut the reins, which were tied around their chest, in case the chariot tipped. The spectators
usually liked the danger more than the racing. Celebrations held in Circus Maximus had acrobats and
dancers, plus vendors selling honey cakes to the audience. There were many animals, such as lions,
camels, tigers, bulls, and crocodiles. Jugglers and fire eaters also performed. In the center, there were
fountains with red and blue water. The celebrations were held before the chariot races, which were
very serious. Roman Theater Plays were put on in the morning and afternoon. All the actors were
male. In the early days, they wore simple costumes and makeup. Later, they had more elaborate
costumes with wigs and masks.

Understand Two Types Of Succession, Primary, Secondary And...
In order to answer this question we must first understand what succession is. There are two types of
succession, primary, and secondary. Primary is when there is no life on a landform such as an empty
island, and there was no community on that island before the succession. Secondary succession is
where the community that was on the island is now being removed, and that there is a recovering of
the population after the succession has occurred. One of the important things to remember about
secondary succession is that it is typically faster because the soil is already present and plants may still
be buried under the soil, and thus can grow faster then if they weren t there. Now that we understand
what secondary succession is we can learn about

Pros And Cons Of Humans And Chimpanzees
It is awful even just to picture how chimpanzees are being anesthetized for more than hundred times
and being put in a small, barren cage for the sake of biomedical science. Chimpanzees are our closest
living relatives both biologically and socially (Stanford et. al., 2017). Humans and chimpanzees shares
lots of similarities genetically and that is one of the reasons why many scientists use chimpanzees for
medical science research. This is also the most important reason on why people who are informed
about the similarities between human and chimpanzees put a very special value to chimpanzees. The
usage of chimpanzees for scientific research has been declining internationally, but chimps are still
being used as subjects for biomedical research in the United States ( Alternatives to Chimp Testing,
2008). In 2012, there was a bill called the Great Ape Protection Act (GAPA) to restrict the use of
chimpanzees in biomedical research in the United States. There are huge debates whether this bill is
necessary or not. Without us realizing, we actually have moral obligations to chimpanzees. Thus, all
laws that against and restrict chimpanzees testing, such as the Great Ape Protection Act (GAPA) plays
an important role and we should support the bills and laws because of several reasons. First, laws that
protect chimpanzees from invasive research should be supported simply because of the fact that
chimps are really similar to humans. They are our kin. Thus, some justifications are

Gentrification And Displacement Essay
Gentrification and displacement is not talked about as much as other social problems. Gentrification
happens when rich people come to urban communities and change the socioeconomic and cultural
characteristics of a community. Gentrification around the world is mainly happening in poor urban
communities. The comparison of the Netherlands, London and Vancouver will explain cultural, social,
and political displacement caused by the new age of urban renewal. Big corporations build up urban
communities which bring economic stability to neighborhoods, and the low income residents are
forced out. With an increase in social economic input into the community rent is increased, food cost

Gentrification is a problem that every country and city has experience rather they know it or not.
Countries are affected by this process and many of its civilians are left with nowhere to call their
home. Communities where they once lived turn into places they ve never seen before. To be forced out
of their own communities is only hurting the economic system of that city and/or country. The people
that are being displaced are minorities and being forced out their community is killing their cultural.
The residents will not be able to raise their children the same way they were brought up. For example,
going outside and playing with the neighborhood children. The minorities that are getting kicked out
will not able to stick together as a whole when moving to a different location. Each resident might
move to different countries or cities as a final resort where prices of rent or mortgage will be lower.
Some solutions that countries can use to limit or exterminate gentrification together would be; helping
the poor residents through government assistances. Some residents do not have the proper income to
continue living in the communities once the government or other companies step in and attempt to
renovate the community. Another solution to this social problem would be if the government was
more involved in helping the residents that are forced out to find better housing or something similar
to their current

The Theme Of Happiness In Dandelion Wine By Ray Bradbury
Happiness is something that people all over the world strive for each day; it is even some s ultimate
goal in life. There are many different philosophies on how to achieve and maintain happiness, but no
two people are precisely alike on their journey. Nonetheless, there is one reiterating theme found,
everybody has been given a chance at happiness. Life has never denied anyone of at least a glimpse of
the feeling. Although there will be darkness in life, happiness is perpetually found down the road. Ray
Bradbury displays this idea in his novel Dandelion Wine. The main character, Doug Spaulding, has
many instances during his summer that supports this theme. Through the loss, change, and pain Doug
both experiences and views, he can always find happiness around him and in the life he lives.
Doug experiences many instances of loss during his summer. Between the moving of his best friend to
the death of his great grandmother, Doug s life becomes very different than it was before the summer
began. These events may cause one to believe that Doug is unhappy with his life, however it is very
much the opposite. By the end of summer, Doug is very optimistic about the next summer, saying next
year s going to be even bigger, days will be brighter, nights longer and darker (Bradbury 235). Though
the very small world of his has been flipped upside down within a few months, Doug is still happy and
knows that things are only going to get better from here. One specific instance of Doug overcoming
loss is when his best friend, John Huff, moves away. After Doug sees John for the last time, Doug
blows up in a fit of rage screaming You, John! John, you re my enemy, you hear? You re no friend of
mine! (Bradbury 111). This loss was very hard on Doug because he is very young, twelve years old,
and hasn t had to deal with anything like this. After calming down, Doug moves on and is able to find
joy in life in things such as going to the local ravine, writing revelations in his journal, and spending
time with family. He becomes content with life once again.
Change is another prevalent item in Doug s summer that some might believe could hinder his
happiness. Many parts of his life that have always been there change over this

Performance appraisals are a systemic means of ensuring quality of work performance, and thus

appraisals, in order to be effective, must be applied in a uniform, objective, fair and consistent manner

Summary Of Siddhartha By Herman Hess Essay
Austin Burchett Dr. Bain Selbo Dr. Samuels RELS 200: World religious literature November 10, 2016
Siddhartha is a novel written by Herman Hess, that tells the story based off one of the past lives of the
Buddha. In the story, Siddhartha Gautama is on a quest to pursue spiritual enlightenment by seeking
guidance from external sources such as Buddhists, Brahmins, Samanas, and even in the material
world. Throughout his spiritual pilgrimage, Siddhartha eventually discovers that he cannot learn how
to achieve spiritual enlightenment by only relying on exterior sources of spiritual guidance. Siddhartha
finally fulfills his Nirvana when he has an internal connection to the river that allowed him to see the
complexity of existence. In my opinion, exterior paths for Siddhartha, is not essential to achieving
Nirvana but I believe that without exterior guidance, finding internal guidance would be merely
impossible. During Siddhartha s youth, he would always sit and talk with the elders to further
understand the Brahmin heritage and achieve all the knowledge he possibly could. After gaining all
the wisdom of the Brahmin, Siddhartha tells his father that he believes he and the other scholarly
Brahmin have learned nearly everything from the holy books, but he is concerned that they have not
yet achieved enlightenment. Siddhartha feels that the rituals he has been taught by the Brahmin, seem
more like a custom than an actual path to enlightenment. One evening Siddhartha reveals to his

The Beef With Antibiotics
The Beef with Antibiotics
In recent years, Americans have been blaming antibiotics used in animals to be processed for food for
many of the growing number of health problems in developed countries. Fast food restaurants are
making movements to remove antibiotic treated meats from their menus. This movement is causing
quite the stir in consumers and livestock producers alike. Do the antibiotics used in beef really
contribute to antibiotic resistant diseases? Should antibiotics be outlawed in the use of farm animals?
The eradication of antibiotic use in America s beef industry is not feasible due to its usage in the
treatment and control of deadly or discomforting diseases.
Presently, speculations have risen about the amount of antibiotics used in the livestock industry and
the desire to consume antibiotic free meats. What is not understood, however, is the USDA has been
monitoring the amount of antimicrobial residue in meats for several years. If unsafe levels are detected
the meat is not allowed to be sold for human consumption. Yet, fast food chains such as Subway and
Chipotle are claiming to go completely antibiotic free within the next decade. The practicality of this
becoming a reality is slim due to the need to control, treat, and prevent diseases. To truly understand
the importance of the antibiotic usage in cattle it must first be understood what antibiotics are and the
reasons they are used. Additionally, the use of vaccinations should be taken into account for the

The Mall Of America By David Guterson Essay
In Enclosed. Encyclopedic. Endured: The Mall of America, David Guterson s description concerning
the Mall of America researches into numerous surfaces that are entrenched throughout the mall both
physically and psychologically. David Guterson claims that the Mall is a psychological impact on the
applicants inside. He makes this claim through his portrayals of the shopping mall s: exterior and
interior environment, the people he interviews, and the malls many titles.
A vivid depiction about the mall s ................ around it gives the audience the impression of already
visiting the mall. The press kit contained a array of details concerning the mall:
140,000 hot dogs sold each week, 10,000 permanent jobs, 44 escalators and 17 elevators, 12,750
parking places, 13,300 short tons of steel, $1 million in cash disbursed weekly from 8 automatic teller
machines.
Guterson also writes about how individuals are effected psychologically by this metropolis.
Opened in the summer of 1992, the mall was built on the 78 acre site of the former Metropolitan
Stadium, a five minute drive from the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. With 4.2 million
square feet of floor space including twenty two times the retail footage of the average American
shopping center the Mall of America was the largest fully enclosed combination retail and family
entertainment complex in the United States.

Abstract
Judges are the most prestigious members of the court system, but they are faced with challenges that
reflect upon there ethics, and faithfulness to the people they serve. Often judges make careless
misstates and forget that they are appointed or voted in by the public. Therefore some judges have
been removed from the bench due to their behavior that includes, sexual allegations, taking cash,
making racist and sexist comments, and lying to a grand jury just to name a few. Voters elect some
judges, governors or the president of the United States appoints some and others are appointed

Many issues may arrive because of this and create problems within the courts. According to Skaggs
(2010) A recent study of the Texas Supreme Court, found that the more money a petitioner contributed
to the justices, the more likely it was that the court would accept a petition for review . Contributions
may show that a judge is in favor of the individual that may give the most money to there campaign
which may give true insight on what kind of judge they will be in the future. In the past some judges
have abused their office because of the lust of their flesh and the pride of life. Many have given over
to the power and prestige of the office instead of walking in humility of the office of judge.
The article Are Campaign Contributions Compromising The Independent Judiciary also gives
verification that there are issues within our current system today. According to Jefferson People doubt
that a judge who have received campaign contributions from a lawyer will remain neutral when
deciding the donor s case (Jefferson, 2010). People may not really care about the reputation of a judge
but rather look at how much money that particular judge have spent on there campaign. This type of
actions by canadates has affected the public views by decreasing the public confidence in America s
courts. By adopting a system where judges are seeking a judges seat would eliminate much of the
negative response by the people. By focusing on a candidate s work ethic and

Fathers are the most important part of the family as they take care of the children when they are
growing up, and they work day and night to pay for their studies and all of the other expenses. They
remain the guardian of the children until their deaths. They are also the most sincere persons to their
children. They suffer all of their life to ease the life of their children and save them from the hardships
that they experience in their life. Children feel safe in the presence of their father in their childhood.
Moreover, fathers also sacrifice the most important things in life for the betterment of their children.
These are all of the reasons that the most of the brands are targeting the feelings of compassion and
love of the fathers for their children nowadays. Toyota has also linked the relationship between the
father and the children in a very touchy way that it left everyone speechless in the super bowl who

as psychological or psychogenic needs i.e. affection, power, learning, prestige and self esteem.

A Broadway Dream Book Analysis
Picture it. Broadway during the 1920s. Florenz Ziegfeld produces a revue called Ziegfeld s Follies.
Girls appear in elaborate costumes bordering on the risque. Gangsters are running rampant from Al
Capone to Bugs Moran to Machine Gun Kelly. This is the world in which Agnes Bobbie Storey finds
herself.
Agnes family lived in Leaholme until the war nearly closed their inn, forcing them to find work in
London. Shortly afterward, her father dies of Spanish Influenza, and Agnes is forced to find a job to
help support her family. She manages to land a job at a restaurant belonging to a friend of her father. It
is here that she wins The Most Beautiful Barmaid in London contest. This sparks Andre Charlot to
offer her a spot in his revue that is traveling to Broadway. She immediately accepts, thus beginning
her love affair with fame, success, and New York City.
A Broadway Dream by Jane Hill is a fiction based on the historical person by the name of Bobbie
Storey. Amazon has this correctly classified as historical fiction or biographical fiction; however, it
was incorrectly classified as romance on OBC. The book is fairly short with only about 200 pages.
It may seem odd, but my favorite part of this story was the ending. I am not familiar with the history
of the 1920s nor the life of Bobbie Storey. Therefore when I read the ending, I was actually taken
aback. To me, the ending contributed to the reality of the story. It s unfortunate that I cannot share this
ending, but I

The, Snail Fever, And Katayama Fever
1. Describe the causative agent
Schistosomiasis have three different names and these are bilharzia, snail fever, and Katayama fever
(Mawyer, 2013). It is a disease caused by parasites, meaning they live off the living host to survive.
Examples of parasitic organism are viruses, protozoa, and helminthes. They are flatworm or fluke,
known as Schistosomes and they cause Schistosomiasis disease. Schistosoma is the spices name and
Trematoda is the class that the organism falls under. Helminthes is the group or family of Schistosoma
((Keas, 1999). These organisms are facultative anaerobic, and they have the ability to move around in
water and in the host bloodstream. They reproduce sexually and asexually depending on the stage of
development; they are intracellular parasites at the mature stage. They live in water in the immature
state. Schistosomes are flatworm and are different from other worms because they compose of the
female and the male worm. The adult female worm is longer (1.5 2cm) than the male worm (1 1.5cm).
The female worm produces several hundreds of eggs daily to enhance its survival rate. An adult life
span of a Schistosome can go up to 5 to 10 years, so you can image how dangerous this infection is
(Ferrara, 2010).
This organism is eukaryotic, because they are multi celled organisms. They are symmetric on lateral
sides; meaning if you were looking at the right side of a flatworm you will see that both the right and
left sides are the same. They have a

Philosophies Of Enlightenment Philosophers
Philosophies That Take Our World
All of the great thinkers throughout history have the theme of choice evident in their works. The world
in the 17th and 18th century was changing fast with leading science and religious diversity. The
Enlightenment saw this ever changing world and worked on the psychological side of it. There was
thousands of Enlightenment philosophers who met and discussed their ideas of the human psyche.
Great thinkers like John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft s philosophies still
thrive today in western civilization. If fractions of a society cannot function as a whole, a society will
never thrive. The general argument made by Voltaire in his work Letters Concerning The english
Nation, is that all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argues that if the government fails men can make choices for the good and still thrive. This is seen
when Locke says The people are at liberty to provide for themselves, y erecting a new legislative

government.
In Adam Smith s Wealth Of Nations argues that individual decision making make up a government s
economic success. More specifically Smith argues that when people make the choice to better
themselves it will better the society as a whole. Smith shows this when he writes, Every individual
necessarily [contributes to] the annual revenue of the society as great as he can (Smith). In this work
Smith is suggesting that when people make the choice to better themselves they also contribute to the
better of a society.
In Mary Wollstonecraft s work A Vindication of the Rights of Women, She argues that if women can
think and contribute to society just like men. Wollstonecraft argues that if women are given and equal
opportunity to get an education they will succeed, by allowing them [women ] to participate in the
inherent rights of mankind. Make them free, and they will quickly become wise and virtuous
(Wollstonecraft). This shows that women have the same right to learn and contribute to society if they
are given the choice to an

Doing Business In China Summary
Prior to reading the Harvard Business Review on Doing Business in China, I assumed that business
was a universal thing around the world. I assumed that business was the same in all countries. I
assumed that every country had the same end goals when it came to business. As a result, I assumed
that all countries followed a similar template for how business negotiations work. I was under the
assumption that business was all about numbers and money; I didn t expect to see so much energy
focused on creating relationships. I originally assumed China was a very strict and numbers based
country when it came to business. In my mind, China was this giant country where everything is made
and manufactured at a lower price. As a result, I assumed that ... Show more content on

As a result, Pepsi Co. has struggled to survive in the Chinese market. Pepsi Co. s equivalent to Sprite,
7Up, has not been met by the acceptance that Sprite received. Sales of Pepsi to 7Up have a ratio of 4:1
(Harvard Business Review on Doing Business in China). Ultimately telling us that Pepsi has been
unsuccessful at selling this product (In China, Coke Fights to Stay Ahead of Pepsi). From reading
about this, I have learned that it is critical that you understand you market in order to be successful.
This lesson that I learned is one that will help me in many of my future classes. I look forward to
traveling to China and observing peoples drink choices to see whether Coca Cola is actually more
common than Pepsi.
One of my favorite parts of this book was learning about how advertising differs in China. In America,
advertising is flashy. Many advertisements feature celebrities in hopes of gaining consumers attention.
Americans buy products they see celebrities using in hopes of becoming more like the famous people
they see using the products. This is very different from advertising in China. In China, ads place a
large focus on the facts. Product advertisements include the features and specifications of a product.
People in China want to know what the product is, how it is used and how it works. There is less of an
emphasis on trying to make a products look cool instead the goal is to show the product and help it

Reflection On Career Development
A. This lesson mainly addressed aspects related to career development. This lesson encourages
students to discover their academic and personal strengths, their skillsets, and their interests. Students
then take those concepts and apply them to career exploration. They are able to link their strengths,
preferences, and abilities to potential future career paths. Some of the specific aspects of career
development that I addressed include applying planning and career exploration in setting and
obtaining lifelong career goals, applying necessary skills for career readiness and success, and
teaching students where and how to obtain information about post secondary options. In this lesson
students are encouraged to apply decision making skills to place different careers into the appropriate
career fields. In doing so, they are also encouraged to begin thinking about careers that are of interest
to them and what career goals they have for themselves. They will be given resources in order to
continue career exploration outside of the classroom. While I do not expect sixth graders to fully
decide their career path, it is my firm belief that it is never too early to get students thinking about
careers and having them set goals in order to obtain the career and future that they desire. I also
believe that this unit touches on social and emotional development as well as academic development.
This lesson allows the student to collaborate with one another and work in groups as well as in pairs.
This promotes relationship building and teamwork. It also allows students to take an inventory of their
personal strengths and skillsets. This could boost self esteem and promotes a sense of self awareness.
Lastly, this unit also encompasses academic development. Students will understand that good grades
and academic success are key elements to obtaining the career that they wish to have. By being
academically successful, this will allow them greater options and opportunity post high school
graduation.
B. In today s world, I feel as though it is very important to incorporate technology into lesson plans.
Technology helps keep children engaged and we are now living in a world where technology is all

Nancy Bayley Essay
Nancy Bayley was a key player in the study of child development throughout her long career. Nancy
was born September 1899 in the Dalles, Oregon. Bayley did not go to public school until she was
eight years old due to poor health. When she did start school, she was able to catch up very quickly.
She attended the University of Washington with plans on teaching English. She took an introductory
psychology course taught by Edwin R. Guthrie, a well known behavioral psychologist, which sparked
her interest in the field and she decided to continue studying psychology. She completed and received
both her bachelor of science and master or science degrees in psychology at the university of
Washington. In 1926 she had her master s thesis published in Pedagogical Seminary and Journal of
Genetic Psychology. Also in 1926 Bayley acquired her doctorate from the university of Iowa. With her
doctorate, she decided to further her research on mental and physical growth and early mental

Technology and Its Influence of Modern Transportation Essay

Essay about Redemption and Damnation in Measure for...
Redemption and Damnation in Measure for Measure and Othello
Measure for Measure and Othello are closely related. There is a thesis antithesis bond between these
two plays. Much more than just sharing a trait or a source, the two constitute a paired study of the
processes of redemption and damnation.
Measure for Measure counterbalances Othello. Looking at the text of each play, one finds parallel and
contrasting circumstances and characteristics that would incline one to interpret each play in light of
the other. First instance: the issue of being passed over. In the opening scene of Measure for Measure
Escalus is passed over for the position of deputy in a most explicit fashion. The Duke praises Escalus
as peerless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The latter commences the destabilizing of Othello and the ensuing tragedy. Third instance: reading
one s nature in one s face. Pompey, drawing transparently upon his street wise bag of tricks to free his
client, Froth, from the charge of fornication, bids Escalus to look into Froth s face (2.1.147 156) and
condemn him if he sees any harm in it. While Pompey literally may be pointing out the lack of any
signs of syphilis on Froth s face, this comic play upon the notion that one s guilt or innocence is
written upon one s face is contrasted by the frightening scene in Othello where, desperate in his
suspicions, Othello terrifies Desdemona by staring into her face to find some confirmation for his
maddening doubts of her fidelity (4.2.25 26). Fourth instance: actual and supposed procuress. Where
Isabella quite literally serves as a procuress in the assignation of Angelo with Mariana (the supposed
Isabella), Emilia is wrongly accused by Othello of being the same for Desdemona with Cassio. Fifth
instance: procuring called a mystery. When the executioner, Abhorson, complains that his mystery
(that is, his profession) will be tainted by a bawd s being made his assistant, Pompey with disarming
wit defends his former work as a legitimate profession by explaining how it too is a mystery (painting
being part of the prostitute s trade). The word mystery in this sense of profession

Comparing Three Cultures
The readings and video showed the similarities and differences of the threes cultures. King Tut, The
Emperor of China, and The Lords of Sipan all had strong feelings of the afterlife. Their cultures all felt
that you don t stop existing once you are dead. They all felt that you continue to live in the afterlife
with all their possessions. Women, men, animals, and children were buried along with the tombs of the
leaders. Sacrifices were made as well to certain animals and prisoners as part of the burial rituals.

They did not believe or thought that once you die that your life ends there, they believed in an
afterlife. Americans don t believe in the afterlife, When you are dead that is it you are gone never to
return. Rituals are not provided for American leaders like they were for the three cultures from the
readings. For American leader when they die we would have a special funeral arrangements done like
a flag ceremony with guns being fired. No sacrifices are made and other people are not buried with
them. The amount of time the three cultures would use to prepare for the burial of their leader was less
than that in the American culture. For an American funeral it can take less than a week for everything
to be done. Being that the other cultures believed in an afterlife and wanted their leader to enter it
properly. They took their time with the preparations and this showed the respect and how much they
honored the person. It also showed how important the person was, someone of their status have to be
buried with their company and treasures. Whereas Americans only have a wake and then a funeral to
follow. This doesn t mean that the Americans don t respect nor care for their leader. There is no need
to bury a person with all of those items, no need for it. There is no afterlife in the American culture so
there is no need for the sacrifices along with the rituals that other cultures do when it comes to burring
someone. We have our time for grief, then a wake, and the funeral is where we say our final goodbyes.
That is how burials are done in the

  • 2. How Harriet Did Not Have Such A Hard Time Living With... Harriet did not expect to have such a hard time living with White students. She assumed that since she attended a school in a White neighborhood and interacted with White people in high school, that the experience would be the same at Cornell. What she did not take into account were the cultural differences that emerge when living in the same environment. The experience for her was unpleasant: I don t remember how I wound up in Mary Donlon [residence hall], but that was a horrible experience my freshman year. That was the first time I d lived with White people, lived with White women, young women, and it was just an awful experience. Culturally we are so different... not that I disliked any of my White classmates or White people or White professors. I didn t really relate to them very much. In fact, I don t even remember most of them at this point. Jocelyn did not want to live on West campus because she heard that mostly White students lived there and that there was a lot of drinking, however, she still ended up living and working as an RA in a predominantly White dorm on North campus. Jocelyn had difficulty explaining her college experiences. Some of the difficulty seems to stem from not wanting to focus on the negative experiences. She believes that her experiences, both good and bad shaped her life and made her the person she is today. Jocelyn almost seems more fascinated with the behavior of White students than upset. She acknowledges some of the traditions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Is Timothy Treadwell Selfish In the Grizzly Maze book, the author Nick Jans writes about the Timothy Treadwell, who spent and sacrificed his whole life for the bears. Treadwell lived around brown bears in a National Park in Alaska for thirteen seasons. He became a national celebrity in the United States, claiming to defend the bears from poachers and other threats. For many years, he educated people about the bears while protecting them from intruders. One day Treadwell and his companion Amie Huguenard were mauled and eaten by brown bears as they were camping in Alaska s Katmai National Parks. His actions were always criticized by bear biologists, and there many other people who believe that he was actually harming the bears instead of helping them. Although many people ... It looked like he was more concerned with making a good movie rather than making it look real. Another example of his selfishness is poaching, He put the poaching issue in front of people to get the most attention and popularity. He had no proof against poachers. The author states, He had just needed an image to dramatize the poaching issue, Timothy told Walter and thought no one would notice (Jans 37). Alaska Park officers say they never find anything about poaching in their area that prove his beliefs (36). In addition, Timothy said he was protecting the bear, but he actually put their life in danger through his selfish approach to get fame. Deb Liggett of anchorage daily news says The last time I saw Timothy, I told him to be safe out there and that none of my staff would ever forgive him, they had to kill a bear because of him . He took her warning lightly and believe that bears will never hurt him. His egotism took the life of two bears. Furthermore, Sometime Timothy brings girls with him those were not familiar with bears. Such as, Amie, who died with Timothy was scared of the bears (52). He brings Amie with him on unsafe spot short of any precaution like gun or pepper spray and put her life in danger that shows his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This article develops a conceptual model to explain how culture impacts negotiation . It draws on previous research on culture and on negotiation to develop an understandin g of how culture affects negotiation processes and outcomes. The article begins with a review of fundamental concepts in the literature on negotiation and culture. These concepts provide a language for what we know and what we do not know about culture and negotiation and allow us to build a model of factors affecting inter cultural negotiation process and outcome. A MODEL OF INTER CULTURAL NEGOTIATION Negotiation Negotiation is a form of social interaction. It is the process by which two or more parties try to resolve perceived incompatibl e goals (Carnevale Pruitt, 1992). In order to understand the effect of culture on negotiation, it is useful to have a mental model of negotiation. What is it that people mean when they say they negotiate? What is involved in negotiating? What is a good outcome in negotiation? What does it take to get a good outcome? What goes wrong in a negotiation that has a poor outcome? However, if culture has an effect on negotiation, the mental models of negotiators from one culture may not map on to the mental models of negotiators from another culture, making the speci® cation of a single mental model problematic. There are two ways to approach this problem of specifying a mental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Science and Technology has come a long way since Copernicus said that the sun was the center of the universe. Science fiction is slowly coming to life. We are building robots that are extremely similar to humans, modifying genes, and creating clones. Authors wrote about these abstract ideas not too long ago, but at the time they seemed far fetched. Scientific and technological advancement may be for good or for evil. The good side is the advancements in medicine that could limit the risk of a particular disease or even cure one. The potentially bad side is the steps we may take to get there without knowing the long term effect. The project required Martha to research upon manufacturing technologies and plant setup costs for a computer chip that the client s competitor was planning to launch soon. The case speaks about a project wherein McCaskey was able to get project critical information just 3 4 days before the final presentation and hence I feel the best alternative for McCaskey would be to best utilize the week available at hand in gaining additional information. In doing so, she can first of all begin with interviewing Devon but not to gain proprietary information about the target company but utilize him as a professional consultant who could assist them in researching upon the latest manufacturing technologies used in computer chips manufacturing and the associated operating costs. Devon had recently helped a European company in setting up a manufacturing plant and seemed extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about the semiconductor industry. The discussion can be focused to revolve around the key trends and technologies affecting the semiconductor industry. Interviewing Devon with direct questions to seek proprietary information about the target company would compromise McCaskey s business values and also possibly tarnish her name in the consulting industry. Devon had been extremely supportive and informative in the first meeting but as a good business professional without giving away any proprietary information about any company and hence could have taken legal action against IAD once he realized the intentions of McCaskey. They liked to watch plays, watch gladiators, participate or watch games, and watch or participate in animal hunts. Colosseum Events The Colosseum is a famous arena that s still partly standing today. This arena could seat over 50,000 people. On hot days, a canopy was raised over the Colosseum to protect the viewers from the heat. In the Colosseum, many events were held for the Romans to watch. Charioteers, even ones that were slaves, that won in Circus Maximus became so rich that they were richer than emperors. The track could hold twelve chariots and had gates the chariots started in. The gates and track were arranged so that all the chariots had to go the same distance around the track. The chariots were light and usually led by four horses. They also usually ran seven laps around the track and there were many sharp turns, so it was very dangerous and the charioteers sometimes fell off. This is why charioteers wore helmets and carried a dagger, so they could cut the reins, which were tied around their chest, in case the chariot tipped. The spectators usually liked the danger more than the racing. Celebrations held in Circus Maximus had acrobats and dancers, plus vendors selling honey cakes to the audience. There were many animals, such as lions, camels, tigers, bulls, and crocodiles. Jugglers and fire eaters also performed. In the center, there were fountains with red and blue water. The celebrations were held before the chariot races, which were very serious. Roman Theater Plays were put on in the morning and afternoon. All the actors were male. • 12. Understand Two Types Of Succession, Primary, Secondary And... In order to answer this question we must first understand what succession is. There are two types of succession, primary, and secondary. Primary is when there is no life on a landform such as an empty island, and there was no community on that island before the succession. Secondary succession is where the community that was on the island is now being removed, and that there is a recovering of the population after the succession has occurred. One of the important things to remember about secondary succession is that it is typically faster because the soil is already present and plants may still be buried under the soil, and thus can grow faster then if they weren t there. • 13. Pros And Cons Of Humans And Chimpanzees It is awful even just to picture how chimpanzees are being anesthetized for more than hundred times and being put in a small, barren cage for the sake of biomedical science. Chimpanzees are our closest living relatives both biologically and socially (Stanford et. al., 2017). Humans and chimpanzees shares lots of similarities genetically and that is one of the reasons why many scientists use chimpanzees for medical science research. This is also the most important reason on why people who are informed about the similarities between human and chimpanzees put a very special value to chimpanzees. The usage of chimpanzees for scientific research has been declining internationally, but chimps are still being used as subjects for biomedical research in the United States ( Alternatives to Chimp Testing, 2008). In 2012, there was a bill called the Great Ape Protection Act (GAPA) to restrict the use of chimpanzees in biomedical research in the United States. There are huge debates whether this bill is necessary or not. Without us realizing, we actually have moral obligations to chimpanzees. Thus, all laws that against and restrict chimpanzees testing, such as the Great Ape Protection Act (GAPA) plays an important role and we should support the bills and laws because of several reasons. First, laws that protect chimpanzees from invasive research should be supported simply because of the fact that chimps are really similar to humans. They are our kin. Thus, some justifications are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Gentrification And Displacement Essay Gentrification and displacement is not talked about as much as other social problems. Gentrification happens when rich people come to urban communities and change the socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of a community. Gentrification around the world is mainly happening in poor urban communities. The comparison of the Netherlands, London and Vancouver will explain cultural, social, and political displacement caused by the new age of urban renewal. Countries are affected by this process and many of its civilians are left with nowhere to call their home. Communities where they once lived turn into places they ve never seen before. To be forced out of their own communities is only hurting the economic system of that city and/or country. The people that are being displaced are minorities and being forced out their community is killing their cultural. The residents will not be able to raise their children the same way they were brought up. For example, going outside and playing with the neighborhood children. The minorities that are getting kicked out will not able to stick together as a whole when moving to a different location. Each resident might move to different countries or cities as a final resort where prices of rent or mortgage will be lower. Some solutions that countries can use to limit or exterminate gentrification together would be; helping the poor residents through government assistances. Some residents do not have the proper income to continue living in the communities once the government or other companies step in and attempt to renovate the community. Another solution to this social problem would be if the government was more involved in helping the residents that are forced out to find better housing or something similar to their current ... • 15. The Theme Of Happiness In Dandelion Wine By Ray Bradbury Happiness is something that people all over the world strive for each day; it is even some s ultimate goal in life. There are many different philosophies on how to achieve and maintain happiness, but no two people are precisely alike on their journey. Nonetheless, there is one reiterating theme found, everybody has been given a chance at happiness. Life has never denied anyone of at least a glimpse of the feeling. Although there will be darkness in life, happiness is perpetually found down the road. Ray Bradbury displays this idea in his novel Dandelion Wine. The main character, Doug Spaulding, has many instances during his summer that supports this theme. Through the loss, change, and pain Doug both experiences and views, he can always find happiness around him and in the life he lives. Doug experiences many instances of loss during his summer. Between the moving of his best friend to the death of his great grandmother, Doug s life becomes very different than it was before the summer began. These events may cause one to believe that Doug is unhappy with his life, however it is very much the opposite. By the end of summer, Doug is very optimistic about the next summer, saying next year s going to be even bigger, days will be brighter, nights longer and darker (Bradbury 235). Though the very small world of his has been flipped upside down within a few months, Doug is still happy and knows that things are only going to get better from here. One specific instance of Doug overcoming loss is when his best friend, John Huff, moves away. After Doug sees John for the last time, Doug blows up in a fit of rage screaming You, John! John, you re my enemy, you hear? You re no friend of mine! (Bradbury 111). This loss was very hard on Doug because he is very young, twelve years old, and hasn t had to deal with anything like this. After calming down, Doug moves on and is able to find joy in life in things such as going to the local ravine, writing revelations in his journal, and spending time with family. He becomes content with life once again. Change is another prevalent item in Doug s summer that some might believe could hinder his happiness. Many parts of his life that have always been there change over this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Summary Of Siddhartha By Herman Hess Essay Austin Burchett Dr. Bain Selbo Dr. Samuels RELS 200: World religious literature November 10, 2016 Siddhartha is a novel written by Herman Hess, that tells the story based off one of the past lives of the Buddha. In the story, Siddhartha Gautama is on a quest to pursue spiritual enlightenment by seeking guidance from external sources such as Buddhists, Brahmins, Samanas, and even in the material world. Throughout his spiritual pilgrimage, Siddhartha eventually discovers that he cannot learn how to achieve spiritual enlightenment by only relying on exterior sources of spiritual guidance. Siddhartha finally fulfills his Nirvana when he has an internal connection to the river that allowed him to see the complexity of existence. In my opinion, exterior paths for Siddhartha, is not essential to achieving Nirvana but I believe that without exterior guidance, finding internal guidance would be merely impossible. During Siddhartha s youth, he would always sit and talk with the elders to further understand the Brahmin heritage and achieve all the knowledge he possibly could. After gaining all the wisdom of the Brahmin, Siddhartha tells his father that he believes he and the other scholarly Brahmin have learned nearly everything from the holy books, but he is concerned that they have not yet achieved enlightenment. Siddhartha feels that the rituals he has been taught by the Brahmin, seem more like a custom than an actual path to enlightenment. One evening Siddhartha reveals to his ... • 21. The Beef With Antibiotics The Beef with Antibiotics In recent years, Americans have been blaming antibiotics used in animals to be processed for food for many of the growing number of health problems in developed countries. Fast food restaurants are making movements to remove antibiotic treated meats from their menus. This movement is causing quite the stir in consumers and livestock producers alike. Do the antibiotics used in beef really contribute to antibiotic resistant diseases? Should antibiotics be outlawed in the use of farm animals? The eradication of antibiotic use in America s beef industry is not feasible due to its usage in the treatment and control of deadly or discomforting diseases. Presently, speculations have risen about the amount of antibiotics used in the livestock industry and the desire to consume antibiotic free meats. What is not understood, however, is the USDA has been monitoring the amount of antimicrobial residue in meats for several years. If unsafe levels are detected the meat is not allowed to be sold for human consumption. Yet, fast food chains such as Subway and Chipotle are claiming to go completely antibiotic free within the next decade. The practicality of this becoming a reality is slim due to the need to control, treat, and prevent diseases. To truly understand the importance of the antibiotic usage in cattle it must first be understood what antibiotics are and the reasons they are used. Gangsters are running rampant from Al Capone to Bugs Moran to Machine Gun Kelly. This is the world in which Agnes Bobbie Storey finds herself. Agnes family lived in Leaholme until the war nearly closed their inn, forcing them to find work in London. Shortly afterward, her father dies of Spanish Influenza, and Agnes is forced to find a job to help support her family. She manages to land a job at a restaurant belonging to a friend of her father. It is a disease caused by parasites, meaning they live off the living host to survive. Examples of parasitic organism are viruses, protozoa, and helminthes. They are flatworm or fluke, known as Schistosomes and they cause Schistosomiasis disease. Schistosoma is the spices name and Trematoda is the class that the organism falls under. Helminthes is the group or family of Schistosoma ((Keas, 1999). These organisms are facultative anaerobic, and they have the ability to move around in water and in the host bloodstream. They reproduce sexually and asexually depending on the stage of development; they are intracellular parasites at the mature stage. They live in water in the immature state. Schistosomes are flatworm and are different from other worms because they compose of the female and the male worm. The adult female worm is longer (1.5 2cm) than the male worm (1 1.5cm). The female worm produces several hundreds of eggs daily to enhance its survival rate. An adult life span of a Schistosome can go up to 5 to 10 years, so you can image how dangerous this infection is (Ferrara, 2010). This organism is eukaryotic, because they are multi celled organisms. They are able to link their strengths, preferences, and abilities to potential future career paths. Some of the specific aspects of career development that I addressed include applying planning and career exploration in setting and obtaining lifelong career goals, applying necessary skills for career readiness and success, and teaching students where and how to obtain information about post secondary options. In this lesson students are encouraged to apply decision making skills to place different careers into the appropriate career fields. In doing so, they are also encouraged to begin thinking about careers that are of interest to them and what career goals they have for themselves. They will be given resources in order to continue career exploration outside of the classroom. While I do not expect sixth graders to fully decide their career path, it is my firm belief that it is never too early to get students thinking about careers and having them set goals in order to obtain the career and future that they desire. I also believe that this unit touches on social and emotional development as well as academic development. This lesson allows the student to collaborate with one another and work in groups as well as in pairs. This promotes relationship building and teamwork. It also allows students to take an inventory of their personal strengths and skillsets. This could boost self esteem and promotes a sense of self awareness. While Pompey literally may be pointing out the lack of any signs of syphilis on Froth s face, this comic play upon the notion that one s guilt or innocence is written upon one s face is contrasted by the frightening scene in Othello where, desperate in his suspicions, Othello terrifies Desdemona by staring into her face to find some confirmation for his maddening doubts of her fidelity (4.2.25 26).
