Essay On Election For Office
Rijal 5
Aryan Rijal GOVT 2306 Professor Sharifian 02 November 2017 Cost to run for Office in Texas
Running an office is not that easy and one who is running office must spend a lot of money for it.
During the time of elections, one spends more money to get the votes. At the time of campaigns lots of
money are spending to get one s vote and get victory. Each vote counts important to candidate, so
he/she spends as money as they can and want to get every possible vote in their favor. But spending a
lot of money doesn t ensure one s victory. Looking to the last year s election statistics of The Texas
Tribune, Clinton spent more money than Trump during the time of election, but she didn t win the
election.
According to The Texas Tribune, in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The candidate must make a slogan in such a way that it will include majority of people s views. If I
am the one who is running for the office, then my slogan will be, Let s Put Hands Together for The
Difference . There are lots of politicians and have their own points of view, but I want to make
differences starting from the current political affairs and the problems that people facing in the present
situation. I will mostly focus on the crimes that are happening in today s date. We can hear gun shoot
out in many places, killing people for some money, drugs selling and many other crimes on daily
basis. I will reach out the interest group like Texas NAACP, Texas Moratorium Network which can
help me in my campaigns. Another factor that can affect my campaigns is media. Media plays a vital
role for the popularity of the office during the time of election and maintain the good image of
candidate in public. A candidate must have good relationship with the medias because media can
create a good image of candidates in the public. I will seek the help of newspaper like Daily News,
USA Today, News Day and so on for my election campaigns because they are the most selling
newspaper till this date. I will ask some of the celebrities to help me in my campaigns. I will mostly
prefer the top rated singers like Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, Jay Z and so on because they can the most
viewed celebrities and they can help me in my campaigns with their voice.

Petrified Forest By Lewis Lapham Analysis
What or Who Should We Fear
Fear is one of the most common feeling ever experienced by the American society. There are different
types of fear, although most us don t fear the shadows or darkness anymore. The year 2017 has been a
paranoia to most of us. With all these things going on, we do not know who or what to believe or even
trust. Over the time, I realized I was full of fears. I always thought my biggest fear was the darkness
and of what was in it. My thoughts were who or what will crawl up of those shadows looking for me.
Those feelings started fading over the years, but the imaginary individual who could take me hadn t
disappeared. My mind started to wonder what is that individual was real and promised us the entire
sea but it is only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lapham, is trying to describe the fear most Americans have towards the possible nuclear war and the
constant terror. Lapham writes about his childhood experience with Fat Man and Little Boy making
him scared of the unknown leaving us, the readers, wonder if it would repeat itself. The author is
trying to get us to understand that with all the things going on in the American society, world war â…¢
may and can happen soon. As Lapham writes, the networked sum of its fears―sexual and racial,
cultural, social and economic, nuanced and naked, founded and unfounded. (3). Because of people s
different thoughts, the America society is bringing each other down making us loose attention to the
real problem. The author is trying to explain us how our society changed and as time went on certain
types of individuals like black male adolescents, leftist English professors, aging hipsters, welfare
mothers, homosexuals, performance artists, illegal immigrants, others too numerous to mention.

Understanding Cross Cultural Communication Barriers
It is a challenge to communicate effectively with people that from different countries and cultures.
Due to the different backgrounds and cultures, there are a number of barriers to effective cross cultural
communication. The same words have different meanings to people that from different cultures, even
the people that speak the same language. In my own opinion, there are three aspects of cross cultural
communication barriers: they are language, behavior and emotion.
Firstly, language is always an serious barrier to people in the whole world. People who speak the same
language also have misunderstandings commonly, so there is no doubt that people from different
cultural and linguistic backgrounds have communication barriers. I can say language is a complicated
thing in the world; moreover, communication among people speak different languages is difficult.
Sometimes, words that from mispronunciations can lead to misunderstandings of meanings. In this
situation, people can not communicate with each other effectively, and people who are in this
conversation may feel uncomfortable with the unhappy ending of the talk. People look at the world
through language, which includes emotions and concepts. If you consider how many times that you
misunderstand someone speaking in your language, you can imagine how difficult it is to know the
whole meaning from a person has a different background is talking to you. Therefore, language barrier
can exist in everyone s conversation and

Betrayed By Milan Kundera Analysis
In his excerpt from Testaments Betrayed, Milan Kundera claims that for one to be truly free, one must
have the right to privacy. He says that the curtain must remain closed between private and public and
that those curtain rippers are criminals. However, although I believe that privacy must be respected
and protected, there are times when the invasion of privacy may be necessary if a person s life or well
being is in immediate danger. Kundera claims that for a man to be free; that the curtain separating
these two worlds is not to be tampered with... I agree with this part of his argument; privacy is
something that has to be revered and enforced, as it is every man s right to have that freedom. My
stance on this is supported by the U.S Constitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a parent suspects that his or her child is suffering from depression or is involved in hazardous
activity like drugs, alcohol, or a bad relationship, I believe should be allowed to violate the child s
privacy. By simply looking through the kid s phone or computer, a parent can find an underlying
problem that the child would have otherwise not have told them. A parent must protect their child
from anything that could harm them, even if it s protecting the children from themselves, and the only
way to do this (if the child refuses to confide) is to deliberately invade their privacy. As it happens,
this violation of a child s privacy also occurs in a medical environment. If a psychologist s patient is
exhibiting either suicidal tendencies or is under danger of any form of abuse, the doctor is required by
law to make it known to either authorities or the parental guardians that their child is in danger. These
actions are a direct infringement of a person s freedom that Kundera will readily disagree with, but if
the curtain that keeps privacy undisclosed remains tightly shut, these cases may never be uncovered
and these lives might not be

The Eltanin Civilizations, The Civilizations Of The Middle...
Welcome to Crash Course Civilizations 101! Today we will discuss one of the most prominent
civilizations of the middle kingdom, the Eltanin civilization. Now before we jump in let s talk about
what exactly is a civilization. Textbook definition defines it as: the process by which a society or place
reaches an advanced stage of social development and organization, but a civilization is more than just
that. It is the culture a group of people possesses which is sustained over a period of time which
shapes history in one way or another. Most civilizations all stemmed from one life changing event, the
agricultural revolution. As the first agricultural revolution occurred from 10,000 BC to 2000 BC,
people started to settle and cultivate land by planting crops and raising animals. Although blossoming
from different areas around the world, they all had certain similar aspects such as developing unique
ways of supporting themselves and upholding their society. The start of this transition is known as the
middle kingdom. Today we will be discussing one of the most prominent civilizations of the middle
kingdom, the Eltanin civilization, who lasted what scientists like to call, A LONG TIME..Before we
dive into who they were and how they impacted history, let s talk about how they originated.
The Eltanin civilization originated from the foothills of the Andes Mountains in 2055 BC, where they
migrated northeast to modern day south Brazil and north Argentina, slowly transitioning

Impact Of Terrorism On The Middle East
HAMAS INTRODUCTION: Terrorism in the Middle East has brought the Israeli Palestinian conflict
to the attention of the world. These terrorist groups use murder, bombs, threats, and other violent acts
to get their way politically. Hamas, the organization that has replaced Fatah as the representative of the
Palestinians, is a leading sponsor of terrorism. Critics say the group is a terrorist organization that
wants nothing but to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth. Supporters say Hamas, which represents the
only organized Palestinian military force, is a coalition of freedom fighters and liberators defending
the Palestinian people.
HAMAS CREATION AND LEADERSHIP: This group was created in 1987 and continues to expand
its power today. Hamas formed in late 1987 at the beginning of the first Palestinian intifada. Hamas
was created by Sheik Ahmad Yasinat, along with Abdel Aziz al Rantissi, and Mohammad Taha in late
80 s at the beginning of the first Palestinian uprising ( Biersteker 2008). Hamas uses paramilitary force
and the violent part of Hamas, stage anti Israeli attacks including improvised explosive device attacks,
and rocket attacks against Israeli targets inside the country of Israel. Its roots are in the Palestinian
branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and it is supported by a robust sociopolitical structure inside the
Palestinian territories. The group s charter calls for establishing an Islamic Palestinian state in place of
Israel and rejects all agreements made

Essay Islamic Science in the Medieval Era
There are many terms used to describe the period after the fall of Rome and before the Renaissance,
three main terms being the Middle, Medieval, and Dark Ages. In general, these terms are used
interchangeably, but are these fair substitutions? In recent years the term Dark Ages is becoming less
and less acceptable as a phrase which describes the span of years it is meant to refer to. The use of the
term dark implies a period of stagnation, which is becoming a questionable concept. In particular, the
span of time referred to in this paper is 530 1452 BCE, with specific attention paid to the scientific
discoveries and innovations rather than art or literature. These dates are significant because in 529 the
Academy and Lyceum in Athens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One might assert that the ideas of Islamic science during this period were not of value because if the
innovations were so great, and the halt of progress in Europe was so encompassing, a knowledge
vacuum would have been created, and the ideas would have poured into the knowledge starved areas.
Further more, Europeans would expand outward to the Middle East in search of new found knowledge
due to the stagnation present in Europe. However, this is not the case, so therefore it is logical to
assume that the knowledge in the Middle East was not that significant. In opposition, I would assert
that major scientific innovation in some area in the world during a given time period is enough to
remove the negative connotation of dark . The scientific discoveries do not have to be world wide.
Furthermore, the reason there was no spread of knowledge to Europe during this time was due to the
isolation of the two very different cultures from one another, not the insignificance of Islamic ideas.
The language barrier alone would be enough to interfere with natural flow of technology. Translations
of texts and therefore ideas takes time, and any cooperation between these two groups prior to the
tenth century would be halted for hundreds of years by the Crusades. Also, the church s relationship
with young men not only occupied them thereby inhibiting their thought, but also their exploration,
explaining the lack of European pro activity in

his harsh sentencing. Due to this Nathaniel latter added a w to his name to lose relation to his family.
Nathaniel was the only male child to his parents Nathaniel and Elizabeth Hathorne. Unfortunately his

Books are sometimes banned also because a vocal group finds that particular book offensive and
immoral. Parents also attempt to remove books from the school curriculum because they find it too
offensive. However, local school books may not be removed from school library shelves simply
because they dislike the ideas contained in those books. Each book that is banned or censored is done
so for the content within the pages. There are a few common reasons that books have been banned or
censored in schools, libraries, and book stores. These include Racial Issues, Encouragement of
Damaging Lifestyles, Blasphemous Dialog, Sexual Situations or Dialog, Violence or Negativity,

The Scarlet Letter has been challenged because it revolves around sin and punishment. The book has
also been banned because parents believed it was indecent and immoral since the main character

Compare And Contrast Bilbo Baggins And The Hobbit
Compare and Contrast Essay
When somebody mentions the word, hero, we think of someone dressed in shining armour holding a
sword, slaying the terrible dragon guarding a hoard of gold. In The Hobbit, there is indeed a heinous
dragon guarding a hoard of treasure and a hero who embarks on a journey to defeat said dragon and
reclaim his stolen birthright. However, we do not just have one hero. We have two: the traditional and
non traditional hero. There is Bilbo Baggins, a shrewd hobbit who contrasts greatly from the typical
hero, and Thorin Oakenshield, a strong minded dwarf who resembles the traditional hero. By the end
of the story, both characters have established that they re capable of conquering obstacles and
adversities with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he attempted to steal from the trolls pockets (#43), he would have most likely been successful if
the pocket didn t talk. His failure was mostly as a result of poor luck. It s stated on #41 that ...at any
rate, hobbits can move quietly in woods, absolutely quietly. Furthermore, his stealth had roped him
and the Company out of dire situations. When the wood elves had taken the Company hostage, it was
Bilbo who snuck in and freed the dwarves from the dungeon (#208). He managed to successfully
evade the notice of the elvenking s guards for over a week (#203), which is no easy feat. The spiders
never noticed Bilbo s presence until he threw stones at them (#182). His small stature, his natural
affinity towards stealth, and his ring of invisibility are all factors that contribute to Bilbo s stealth.
Finally, it is Bilbo s ability to lead that was one of his strongest assets. He was not much of a leader as
we began the story, but as we delved deeper, we learned that Bilbo is a leader. ...and they [the
dwarves] all trusted Bilbo. Just what Gandalf had said would happen, you see. Perhaps that was part
of his reason for going off and leaving. (#204) This quote demonstrates that Bilbo is a leader. A leader
is someone that you can rely on; somebody that you can trust and a person that inspires. For Thorin
had taken heart again hearing how the hobbit had rescued his companions from the spiders, and was
determined once more not to ransom himself

offered a job working on a construction site he doesn t hesitate to say yes. His father had always told

The father figure depicted in this story could be viewed in a few different ways. At first I thought the
authors father was kind of a stuck up, rude man, who was sour about the advantages of living a normal
life in American society. I felt that he had made his son feel like he could never do what he had down.
If a parental figure makes you feel like that, there tends to be a reaction. It could be positive or
negative. In Rodriguez s case he took what his father said, and harnessed it into a positive learning
experience. When I thought about more in depth, it became clear that Rodriguez s father wasn t
putting his son down at all. He was simply explaining to his son how different their worlds where. He
was stressing that although his son had more opportunity, and was presented with much greater
potential to be excellent, that the work he did growing up was much harder, and tough than most
people realize. His father was just making it known that in his working years he did not have many
options as to career choices. But on the other hand I can easily see why the author felt that his father
had challenged him. Much like I felt my father was challenging me. Rodriguez felt like he needed to
prove that he could perform the same task that his fathers use to do to provide for their families.
Working with you re your hands, completing messy, strenuous, sometimes painful jobs was almost a

Minimum Wage Wars
Minimum Wage Wars In 2015, the Illinois minimum wage is $8.25 an hour (Schreiber and Young).
There are people in Illinois who want to raise the minimum wage to $15. The current debate for the
increase in minimum wage is that, by increasing the minimum wage, cost of living will be easier to
pay for, poverty levels will decrease, and produce income equality. This notion sounds like a good
idea initially; however, what will the repercussions of raising the minimum wage most likely look
like? Increasing the minimum wage will probably have the opposite effect of what is intended by its
supporters. A $15 raise in minimum wage may result in job loss. A 2006 review of more than 100

Example Of Pathos In Outliers
There is something profoundly wrong with the way we make sense of success (Gladwell 18). In
Outliers Malcolm Gladwell is trying to convince his audience that they misunderstand how people
become successful. Many believe one only needs hard work and determination in order to achieve
success. However, Gladwell complicates this idea by explaining that hard work and determination is
not how people become successful and instead, it is all about the opportunities one is given that
decides if he or she is successful or not. Gladwell uses the rhetorical appeals of pathos and ethos in
order to persuade his audience to accept his idea of the process of becoming successful. Pathos
appeals to the reader s emotions by using emotional stories and imagery. Pathos strategies are often
used to grab and hold the reader s attention. Emotional or personal stories give the reader an
opportunity to emotionally relate to the story, and allows them to be emotionally connected. An
emotionally connected reader is more interested in the story that a reader who is not emotionally
connected. Meanwhile, ethos allow the reader to view the author as a trustworthy source and builds
the author s credibility. An author can do this in a number of different ways, such as using other
credible sources to their advantage or by building common ground with the reader. It is especially
important for Gladwell s audience to trust him, as he is trying to convince them that what they believe
about success is wrong.

Introduction. Euthanasia Is A Unique Practice Of Ending
Introduction
Euthanasia is a unique practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal
disease/illness or an incurable condition by means of using extraordinary medical treatment or lethal
injection (TenHave Welie, 2014). The word euthanasia is derived from the Greek eu, good , and
thanatos, meaning death (Russell, 1997). However, some think of euthanasia as merely a mercy
killing, while others see it as unjustified murder. Euthanasia is portrayed as a controversial topic that
seems to have no grey area, simplified as either black or white. It may seem as though factors such as
the conscience right of physicians conflicts with the autonomy of patients regarding euthanasia when
deciding the fate of a patient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority of evidence would suggest with existential considerations, such as feeling a burden to
others, fear of losing autonomy, and lost sense of dignity, are the primary motivations that move
patient s to ward seeking death hastening options (Willson et al, 2007). To further investigate the
attitudes of terminally ill individuals regarding the legalization of euthanasia, The Canadian National
Palliative Care conducted a study where they interviewed 379 patients who were receiving palliative
care for cancer (Wilson et al, 2007). Patients who desired voluntary euthanasia were followed
prospectively. The results showed that 238 participants (62.8%) who believed that euthanasia and/or
PAS should be legalized, and 151 (39.8%) who would consider making a future request for a
physician hastened death (Wilson et al, 2007). However, only 22 (5.8%) reported that, if legally
permissible, they would initiate such a request right away, in their current situations (Wilson et al,
2007). In follow up interviews with 17 participants, only 2 (11.8%) showed instability in their
expressed desire. It is visible from these results, the stem of terminally ill patients desire to receive
euthanasia or PAS is associated with religious beliefs; functional status; and physical, social, and
psychological symptoms and concerns (Wilson et al, 2007).
Inadequate attention to autonomy of patients will

Example Of Timeless Literature
Timeless Literature Over the course of each year English teachers choose pieces of literature to be
read over the course of the year. They all possess elements that make them applicable year after year.
Almost every piece of good literature has a theme, idea or lesson that makes it relevant for all ages. It
could be the importance of trust, bravery, family and friendship among others. Some of these works
are Thank You Ma am by Langston Hughes, The Treasure of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers,
and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. In this first story, Thank You Ma am , a bot named Rodger
desperately wants blue suede shoes, and he is willing to go so far as stealing to get them.
Rodger rushes up to an older woman named Ms. Jones and tries to take her purse. Ms. Jones stops him
and grabs him by the shirt and does not take him to the police, but to her house. Which seems
illogical, but she has experience with the matter. She lets him clean up, gives him some food to eat and
trusts him to stay alone in a room for a couple minutes with no restriction, half expecting him to run
away or steal from her, but is hopeful he will not. He is apologetic and tries to thank her, but she cuts
him off. Ms. Jones was in a similar desperation once so she understands that Rodger is not a bad kid,
he is just in a bad place. When she returns he is there and her things untouched. ... Show more content

Presentation Of The Statement Of Cash Flows
Presentation of the Statement of Cash Flows The statement of cash flows is a relatively new statement.
Focused on cash basis accounting rather than accrual basis, the purpose of this statement is to describe
the effects of a company s cash inflows and outflows. This paper will discuss the current standards for
the statement of cash flows, the history of the statement, and if the direct method or indirect method is
more advantageous for the users. Current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) states,
[i]n reporting cash flows from operating activities, entities are encouraged to report major classes of
gross cash receipts and gross cash payments and their arithmetic sum the net cash flow from operating
activities (the direct method) (ASC 230 10 45 25). In addition, per ASC 230 10 45 30, if a company
chooses to report the change in cash flow from operating activities using the direct method, it must
also include a separate schedule containing the indirect method, which is a reconciliation of net
income to cash flows from operating activities. In choosing to write the standards this way, the
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) considered both methods and recognized the
advantages of each. However, the board noted that neither method provided enough benefit on its own
to justify the required use of one or the other. The board believes that the more comprehensive
approach would be to use the direct method in the operating section of the statement of

Wvsa Case Study
When was the WVSA constructed and how was it modified? The WVSA was built in two phases
around 1967. WVSA went online for primary treatment plant in 1968. In 1988, the WVSA decided to
add the second treatment plant. The modification occurred when the second treatment plant was built.
The second treatment plant allowed the removal of organic matter to reach 97%. What is the source of
the sewage and from what communities does it originate? The source is a combination of sanitary and
storm sewages; majority of the combined sewage water comes from the Wilkes Barre area. In
addition, other communities that contribute to the sewage water source are places like Dallas PA,
Lehman township, Hanover township, and more. How does the sewage arrive at the WVSA? Sewage
arrives at the WVSA by pumping all the waste water from the combined/ storm sewers and collecting
it in the wet well then transferred to the influent pumps. Another place the sewage can arrive at WVSA
is from other places who decided not to upgrade like, Lehman Township, that has the WVSA treat
their waste for them instead. Describe the treatment process in detail. The treatment process is broken
into four treatment trains in the secondary plant, which are viewed as four different treatment plants ...

The purchasing process involves the use of purchasing systems which provide ways for firms and
companies to purchase and acquire goods and services at the best prices and at optimum terms.
Purchasing Information Systems are used in decision making at different levels as tools for planning,
analyzing, monitoring and controlling the business operations. These systems can be use for various
functions like invoice management, ordering of orders automatically, management of supplier
contracts among other uses. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are business software

The systems are to be installed in the Starshine Electronics Company.
The following is a diagram explaining the various steps involved in the purchasing process. The first
step involved is to identify the need for certain goods. These can be in form of raw materials or
equipments. The need must be felt and identified before taking any step to purchase the product. For
example, Starshine Electronics may want to offer transport as an after sale services to their customers.
In order to do this, a vehicle is required. The need of this vehicle is then identified and the first step in
purchasing the product is put into action.
The second step involves selecting the specific type of product that Starshine Electronics desires to
purchase according to their needs. There are various types of products that can be used to do a given
function and hence there is need to decide the product that suits you better. For example, there are
many types of vehicles in the market from different manufacturers and hence Starshine Electronics
should decide on the best model from a particular manufacturer to order. After selecting the product, a
purchase team needs to be appointed or selected. The formation of the team helps greatly in the
management of the purchase process through conducting research, analyzing the findings and
planning on the necessary technical specifications for the product and the process involved in
purchasing the product. Research about the product

Being A Leader Takes Great Ability. Over Many Years’ People
Being a leader takes great ability. Over many years people have written many books and taught many
ways for people to become an effective leader. One of the main things that people fail to understand
that the major part of being a leader is just being yourself. You can be taught by someone techniques
and ways to problem solve and how to think strategically but leadership is more than that. Being
yourself flaws and all helps make you human and shows your ability that you are not perfect and
makes mistakes just like everyone else. These techniques will make you gain those necessary
followers who do not look for someone that is perfect but look for someone that is inspiring. Many
times the necessary skills individuals need to become a leader ... Show more content on

Being Yourself Many people get into business and feel that need to separate their lives or
compartmentalize their life from who they are at work against who they are when you are not
working. One of the biggest pieces of advice leaders and aspiring leaders should take is being
themselves. Having confidence that you are good enough just being yourself will help make you a
leader and someone that people would want to follow because they see you as being human and like
themselves. This concept is hard to follow by many executives because most of the knowledge and
training out their point them to certain traits and skills needed to have to be an effective leader.
According to the authors Robert Goffee and Gareth Jones in one year there where more than 2,000
books published on leadership, some even reprints of Moses and Shakespeare repackaged as
leadership gurus (Goffee, R., Jones, G, 2000). With such vast amount of information available it is
surprising that many of these do not give the basic advice to just be yourself. Weakness and
Leadership One of the main techniques of being yourself is showing your weakness. No matter who
you are from a crossing guard to a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, everyone has a weakness. If
someone is considered to be perfect people might assume them to not need followers. It will illustrate
to people that they could handle everything for themselves (Goffee, R.,

The Divas Division In The Wwe
There is so much to be said about the Divas Division in the WWE that it feels like a broken record
trying to be fixed over and over again. At the last NXT special NXT Takeover: Unstoppable, one
match that stood out the whole night was the bout between Becky Lynch versus Sasha Banks for the
NXT Women s Championship. The submission attempts, the chain wrestling, and the high paced
energy, both women brought out the best of each other and put on an amazing women s match through
out the whole night. Both women deserve to be on the main roster when they get the call up, but it s
the only terror that they ll be nothing really important to the show and will fall in the back burner of
three hour programming. That s when the #GiveDivasAChance movement ... Show more content on

Give the Divas compelling and interesting storylines. The current storylines in the Divas Division are
simply not compelling or interesting. On NXT, all it took was a few video packages for Becky Lynch
to give her backstory and give fans a reasons to cheer for her, while on NXT was the tension between
Bayley and Emma. On the main roster, the Divas barely have decent storytelling surrounding the
Divas Championship, let alone given a low level storyline not surrounding the title. The reliance of
Total Divas for the past two years in my opinion probably hurt the division even more than it helped.
While it showcase the women on Total Divas and gave them some reasons to be on the show, it has
done nothing to help improve the division with weak storylines and meaninigless matches. There is no
effort being put into the stories of the Divas and they desperately need a new fresh direction in order

W. E. B. Dubois Biography
What was W.E.B. Dubois doing when he was twenty? He was attending colleges to learn and to use
that knowledge to help him end the discrimination towards African Americans. He was so intent on
stopping the discrimination that he went to three schools, traveled to different places to talk or teach
people about it. I will be talking about W.E.B. (William Edward Burghardt) Dubois and what very
important things he did and how they affected his time and our time. W.E.B. was born Feb. 23 1868 in
Great Barrington, Mass. and died Aug. 27. 1963 in Ghana after a civil rights march. He was an
American civil rights activist, leader, Pan Africanist, sociologist, educator, historian, writer, editor,

be better which brought the NAACP. He also wrote books that told about African Americans and
W.E.B. attended and lead some civil rights marches. Nevertheless, all this encouraged others to fight
for their rights.
He had a lot of impact on his time and the world today. As a founder of the NAACP, They got a lot of
rights for African Americans such as Brown vs. Board of Education which helped end segregation.
Dubois wrote something called the Crisis, that opened the world for people see that blacks can do the
same things as whites and are actually people. He influenced a lot of African Americans to fight for
their rights and be accepted, he then led protest and educated the African Americans that weren t. In

Diane Arbus
Diane Arbus was originally born Diane Nemerov on March 14, 1923 to David Nemerov and Gertrude
Russek Nemerov. She was the daughter of a wealthy New York businessman. Her family owned
Russeks department store on Fifth Avenue, allowing Dian a pampered childhood. As a member of a
prominent New York family, she grew up with a strong sense of what was prohibited and what was
acceptable in high society. Diane s world was a protected one, with little adversity; yet this very lack
of adversity made her feel as thou she was living in ungrounded world. As funny and different as it
may seem, the ability to have a comfortable life was somehow painful for her. An extremely shy child,
she was often fearful but told no one of her scary daydreams and ... Show more content on

Spanish Harlem in New York to photograph stranger s children. In the 1950s she also found herself
increasingly attracted to nontraditional people, people on the fringes of normal society. This new
avenue provided a release from the oppression felt in the fashion world. During this time of her life
she also suffered from recurring bouts of depression. Due to her mental state in 1957 the couple
decided to make a drastic change. He would continue to run their fashion studio, leaving her free to

period Diane decided, what she really wanted to pursue photographing the different. She saw her
camera as a sort of all access pass, that allowed her to be curious, nosy, and to explore the lives of
others. Gradually she overcame her shyness. She enjoyed the ability of going where she never gone

The Ethical Use Of Animals In Captivity
Imagine being taken away from your family and being thrown into a small glass cage to be overlooked
by untrusted beings for the rest of your life. How would you feel? Angry? Scared? Annoyed? All of
the animals in zoos feel like this. This shows that animals are not meant to be in zoos. They are not
treated well and are only used for show and to make money. First of all, most animals in captivity,
such as zoos, are treated unfairly. As www.peta.org says, Animals are often prevented from doing most
of the things that are natural and important to them, like running, roaming, flying, climbing, foraging,
choosing a partner, and being with others of their own kind. Zoos teach people that it is acceptable to
interfere with animals and keep them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The zoos and other places that keep animals captive only use them for their benefit. As www.peta.org
argues, The Wall Street Journal reported in 2003 that nearly half of the country s zoos are facing
cutbacks this year ... [a]ttendance, meanwhile, is down about 3% nationwide. 3 Precious funds that
should be used to provide more humane conditions for animals are often squandered on cosmetic
improvements such as landscaping, refreshment stands, and gift shops in order to draw visitors. This
proves that most of these animals are only used to show them off to others, in order to sell various
items. A zoo researcher from the New York Times researched the behaviors of animals as well as what
the visitors did to the animals at the Bronx Zoo. Www.nytimes.com says her conclusion was Zoos are
a great place to observe the exotic behaviors of human beings in the wild. This shows that the people
are using the animals as a source of entertainment, not education. When she said, human beings in the
wild it means that the humans are overtaking the animals, controlling them, mistreating them, and
using them as just another source of entertainment like a TV. The mistreatment of animals is also
another concern for zoos, for they are only used to make money. Http://wildlife rescue.org claims that
There is minimal state and federal protection for animals used in entertainment. Many of the animals
used for human amusement are not even covered by the federal Animal Welfare Act. This shows that
these animals are not even protected, free to be used by the zoo, for money, entertainment, and any
other mistreatment to them. Overall, these animals are mistreated for the entertainment of others, and

Audacious Euphony Reflection
The first time I learned about the ideas similar to sum class was when I read Richard Cohn s
Audacious Euphony, and I was fascinated by how much information about voice leading can be
facilitated by just summing up the pitch class collection. I am excited to read this paper, which extends
the discussion from diatonic triads and tetrachords to more set classes, and how much of the similar
voice leading properties are retained. There are, however, multiple questions that I am not sure about
the spaces created in the paper, as well as those by Tymoczko and many others, in terms of its musical
value. I am also not sure about the use of the pitch class clockfaces and the current representation of
pitch center of balance, and I wonder if there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found the idea of relating the set classes of the same sum through pure contrary voice leading very
useful and neat. The tetrahedron shown on p. 36 is very interesting in terms of geometrical properties.
However, the tetrachords with doubling tetrahedron is somewhat artificial to me. The geometrical
neatness is facilitated by the multiset (0112), but outside the vertices, each tetrachord can only link to
one/two tetrachords of the same nature through the same motion. Similarly in the tetrahedron B, the
tetrachord that enables the geometry to happen is (0134). I wonder how we can find out such pivotal
set classes when we construct such spaces. In the case of the space in trichords, I really curious about
the cases when we are dealing with odd sum classes. I am fascinated by the fact that the axis of
symmetry is between two rows of 6 trichords (like p. 21) while that of an even sum class only contains
one row of 6 trichords that is the also axis of symmetry. Other than figuring out the pitch center of
balance through the clockface or arithmetical means, would there be some kind of geometrical
significance? There are a lot of interesting geometrical features in the examples and I really want to
see more in depth relationship between the pitches and the patterns I am looking

The Current State Of Art
Abstract
Over the last couple of years, the internet of things (IoT) has drawn a lot of attention from both
academia s and industries. The internet of things is often interchanged with the internet of everything.
Presently, several devices can be connected at the same time, it is hoped that in the nearest future,
billions of devices can be connected multifariously and will hopefully extend beyond the margins of
physical components. This research will present the current state of art in research on the internet of

  • 3. Petrified Forest By Lewis Lapham Analysis What or Who Should We Fear Fear is one of the most common feeling ever experienced by the American society. There are different types of fear, although most us don t fear the shadows or darkness anymore. The year 2017 has been a paranoia to most of us. With all these things going on, we do not know who or what to believe or even trust. Over the time, I realized I was full of fears. I always thought my biggest fear was the darkness and of what was in it. My thoughts were who or what will crawl up of those shadows looking for me. Those feelings started fading over the years, but the imaginary individual who could take me hadn t disappeared. My mind started to wonder what is that individual was real and promised us the entire sea but it is only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lapham, is trying to describe the fear most Americans have towards the possible nuclear war and the constant terror. Lapham writes about his childhood experience with Fat Man and Little Boy making him scared of the unknown leaving us, the readers, wonder if it would repeat itself. The author is trying to get us to understand that with all the things going on in the American society, world war â…¢ may and can happen soon. As Lapham writes, the networked sum of its fears―sexual and racial, cultural, social and economic, nuanced and naked, founded and unfounded. (3). Because of people s different thoughts, the America society is bringing each other down making us loose attention to the real problem. The author is trying to explain us how our society changed and as time went on certain types of individuals like black male adolescents, leftist English professors, aging hipsters, welfare mothers, homosexuals, performance artists, illegal immigrants, others too numerous to mention. (Lapham 10) became the eyes of the government and the authorities. Making it look as if those human beings were the only targets. • 4. Understanding Cross Cultural Communication Barriers It is a challenge to communicate effectively with people that from different countries and cultures. Due to the different backgrounds and cultures, there are a number of barriers to effective cross cultural communication. The same words have different meanings to people that from different cultures, even the people that speak the same language. In my own opinion, there are three aspects of cross cultural communication barriers: they are language, behavior and emotion. Firstly, language is always an serious barrier to people in the whole world. People who speak the same language also have misunderstandings commonly, so there is no doubt that people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds have communication barriers. I can say language is a complicated thing in the world; moreover, communication among people speak different languages is difficult. Sometimes, words that from mispronunciations can lead to misunderstandings of meanings. In this situation, people can not communicate with each other effectively, and people who are in this conversation may feel uncomfortable with the unhappy ending of the talk. People look at the world through language, which includes emotions and concepts. If you consider how many times that you misunderstand someone speaking in your language, you can imagine how difficult it is to know the whole meaning from a person has a different background is talking to you. Therefore, language barrier can exist in everyone s conversation and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Betrayed By Milan Kundera Analysis In his excerpt from Testaments Betrayed, Milan Kundera claims that for one to be truly free, one must have the right to privacy. He says that the curtain must remain closed between private and public and that those curtain rippers are criminals. However, although I believe that privacy must be respected and protected, there are times when the invasion of privacy may be necessary if a person s life or well being is in immediate danger. Kundera claims that for a man to be free; that the curtain separating these two worlds is not to be tampered with... I agree with this part of his argument; privacy is something that has to be revered and enforced, as it is every man s right to have that freedom. My stance on this is supported by the U.S Constitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a parent suspects that his or her child is suffering from depression or is involved in hazardous activity like drugs, alcohol, or a bad relationship, I believe should be allowed to violate the child s privacy. By simply looking through the kid s phone or computer, a parent can find an underlying problem that the child would have otherwise not have told them. A parent must protect their child from anything that could harm them, even if it s protecting the children from themselves, and the only way to do this (if the child refuses to confide) is to deliberately invade their privacy. As it happens, this violation of a child s privacy also occurs in a medical environment. If a psychologist s patient is exhibiting either suicidal tendencies or is under danger of any form of abuse, the doctor is required by law to make it known to either authorities or the parental guardians that their child is in danger. These actions are a direct infringement of a person s freedom that Kundera will readily disagree with, but if the curtain that keeps privacy undisclosed remains tightly shut, these cases may never be uncovered and these lives might not be ... • 6. The Eltanin Civilizations, The Civilizations Of The Middle... Welcome to Crash Course Civilizations 101! Today we will discuss one of the most prominent civilizations of the middle kingdom, the Eltanin civilization. Now before we jump in let s talk about what exactly is a civilization. Textbook definition defines it as: the process by which a society or place reaches an advanced stage of social development and organization, but a civilization is more than just that. It is the culture a group of people possesses which is sustained over a period of time which shapes history in one way or another. Most civilizations all stemmed from one life changing event, the agricultural revolution. As the first agricultural revolution occurred from 10,000 BC to 2000 BC, people started to settle and cultivate land by planting crops and raising animals. Although blossoming from different areas around the world, they all had certain similar aspects such as developing unique ways of supporting themselves and upholding their society. The start of this transition is known as the middle kingdom. Today we will be discussing one of the most prominent civilizations of the middle kingdom, the Eltanin civilization, who lasted what scientists like to call, A LONG TIME..Before we dive into who they were and how they impacted history, let s talk about how they originated. • 9. Impact Of Terrorism On The Middle East HAMAS INTRODUCTION: Terrorism in the Middle East has brought the Israeli Palestinian conflict to the attention of the world. These terrorist groups use murder, bombs, threats, and other violent acts to get their way politically. Hamas, the organization that has replaced Fatah as the representative of the Palestinians, is a leading sponsor of terrorism. Critics say the group is a terrorist organization that wants nothing but to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth. Supporters say Hamas, which represents the only organized Palestinian military force, is a coalition of freedom fighters and liberators defending the Palestinian people. HAMAS CREATION AND LEADERSHIP: This group was created in 1987 and continues to expand its power today. Hamas formed in late 1987 at the beginning of the first Palestinian intifada. Hamas was created by Sheik Ahmad Yasinat, along with Abdel Aziz al Rantissi, and Mohammad Taha in late 80 s at the beginning of the first Palestinian uprising ( Biersteker 2008). Hamas uses paramilitary force and the violent part of Hamas, stage anti Israeli attacks including improvised explosive device attacks, and rocket attacks against Israeli targets inside the country of Israel. Its roots are in the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and it is supported by a robust sociopolitical structure inside the Palestinian territories. • 10. Essay Islamic Science in the Medieval Era There are many terms used to describe the period after the fall of Rome and before the Renaissance, three main terms being the Middle, Medieval, and Dark Ages. In general, these terms are used interchangeably, but are these fair substitutions? In recent years the term Dark Ages is becoming less and less acceptable as a phrase which describes the span of years it is meant to refer to. The use of the term dark implies a period of stagnation, which is becoming a questionable concept. In particular, the span of time referred to in this paper is 530 1452 BCE, with specific attention paid to the scientific discoveries and innovations rather than art or literature. These dates are significant because in 529 the Academy and Lyceum in Athens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One might assert that the ideas of Islamic science during this period were not of value because if the innovations were so great, and the halt of progress in Europe was so encompassing, a knowledge vacuum would have been created, and the ideas would have poured into the knowledge starved areas. Further more, Europeans would expand outward to the Middle East in search of new found knowledge due to the stagnation present in Europe. However, this is not the case, so therefore it is logical to assume that the knowledge in the Middle East was not that significant. In opposition, I would assert that major scientific innovation in some area in the world during a given time period is enough to remove the negative connotation of dark . The scientific discoveries do not have to be world wide. Furthermore, the reason there was no spread of knowledge to Europe during this time was due to the isolation of the two very different cultures from one another, not the insignificance of Islamic ideas. The language barrier alone would be enough to interfere with natural flow of technology. Translations of texts and therefore ideas takes time, and any cooperation between these two groups prior to the tenth century would be halted for hundreds of years by the Crusades. Also, the church s relationship with young men not only occupied them thereby inhibiting their thought, but also their exploration, explaining the lack of European pro activity in ... • 12. Compare And Contrast Bilbo Baggins And The Hobbit Compare and Contrast Essay When somebody mentions the word, hero, we think of someone dressed in shining armour holding a sword, slaying the terrible dragon guarding a hoard of gold. In The Hobbit, there is indeed a heinous dragon guarding a hoard of treasure and a hero who embarks on a journey to defeat said dragon and reclaim his stolen birthright. However, we do not just have one hero. We have two: the traditional and non traditional hero. There is Bilbo Baggins, a shrewd hobbit who contrasts greatly from the typical hero, and Thorin Oakenshield, a strong minded dwarf who resembles the traditional hero. When he attempted to steal from the trolls pockets (#43), he would have most likely been successful if the pocket didn t talk. His failure was mostly as a result of poor luck. It s stated on #41 that ...at any rate, hobbits can move quietly in woods, absolutely quietly. Furthermore, his stealth had roped him and the Company out of dire situations. When the wood elves had taken the Company hostage, it was Bilbo who snuck in and freed the dwarves from the dungeon (#208). He managed to successfully evade the notice of the elvenking s guards for over a week (#203), which is no easy feat. The spiders never noticed Bilbo s presence until he threw stones at them (#182). His small stature, his natural affinity towards stealth, and his ring of invisibility are all factors that contribute to Bilbo s stealth. Finally, it is Bilbo s ability to lead that was one of his strongest assets. He was not much of a leader as we began the story, but as we delved deeper, we learned that Bilbo is a leader. ...and they [the dwarves] all trusted Bilbo. Just what Gandalf had said would happen, you see. Perhaps that was part of his reason for going off and leaving. (#204) This quote demonstrates that Bilbo is a leader. A leader is someone that you can rely on; somebody that you can trust and a person that inspires. He seeks to build his self esteem by participating in real manual labor over a summer job. When Rodriguez is offered a job working on a construction site he doesn t hesitate to say yes. His father had always told him he could never understand the hardships of Real work , and Rodriguez felt that completing this summer job would make his father proud of him, and in many ways consider him to be a Real man . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The father figure depicted in this story could be viewed in a few different ways. At first I thought the authors father was kind of a stuck up, rude man, who was sour about the advantages of living a normal life in American society. I felt that he had made his son feel like he could never do what he had down. If a parental figure makes you feel like that, there tends to be a reaction. It could be positive or negative. In Rodriguez s case he took what his father said, and harnessed it into a positive learning experience. When I thought about more in depth, it became clear that Rodriguez s father wasn t putting his son down at all. He was simply explaining to his son how different their worlds where. He was stressing that although his son had more opportunity, and was presented with much greater potential to be excellent, that the work he did growing up was much harder, and tough than most people realize. His father was just making it known that in his working years he did not have many options as to career choices. But on the other hand I can easily see why the author felt that his father had challenged him. Much like I felt my father was challenging me. Rodriguez felt like he needed to prove that he could perform the same task that his fathers use to do to provide for their families. Working with you re your hands, completing messy, strenuous, sometimes painful jobs was almost a part of Hispanic culture. A part of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The current debate for the increase in minimum wage is that, by increasing the minimum wage, cost of living will be easier to pay for, poverty levels will decrease, and produce income equality. This notion sounds like a good idea initially; however, what will the repercussions of raising the minimum wage most likely look like? • 15. Example Of Pathos In Outliers There is something profoundly wrong with the way we make sense of success (Gladwell 18). In Outliers Malcolm Gladwell is trying to convince his audience that they misunderstand how people become successful. Many believe one only needs hard work and determination in order to achieve success. However, Gladwell complicates this idea by explaining that hard work and determination is not how people become successful and instead, it is all about the opportunities one is given that decides if he or she is successful or not. Gladwell uses the rhetorical appeals of pathos and ethos in order to persuade his audience to accept his idea of the process of becoming successful. Pathos appeals to the reader s emotions by using emotional stories and imagery. Pathos strategies are often used to grab and hold the reader s attention. Emotional or personal stories give the reader an opportunity to emotionally relate to the story, and allows them to be emotionally connected. An emotionally connected reader is more interested in the story that a reader who is not emotionally connected. Meanwhile, ethos allow the reader to view the author as a trustworthy source and builds the author s credibility. An author can do this in a number of different ways, such as using other credible sources to their advantage or by building common ground with the reader. It is especially important for Gladwell s audience to trust him, as he is trying to convince them that what they believe about success is wrong. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Introduction. Euthanasia Is A Unique Practice Of Ending Introduction Euthanasia is a unique practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal disease/illness or an incurable condition by means of using extraordinary medical treatment or lethal injection (TenHave Welie, 2014). The word euthanasia is derived from the Greek eu, good , and thanatos, meaning death (Russell, 1997). However, some think of euthanasia as merely a mercy killing, while others see it as unjustified murder. Euthanasia is portrayed as a controversial topic that seems to have no grey area, simplified as either black or white. It may seem as though factors such as the conscience right of physicians conflicts with the autonomy of patients regarding euthanasia when deciding the fate of a patient. ... The majority of evidence would suggest with existential considerations, such as feeling a burden to others, fear of losing autonomy, and lost sense of dignity, are the primary motivations that move patient s to ward seeking death hastening options (Willson et al, 2007). To further investigate the attitudes of terminally ill individuals regarding the legalization of euthanasia, The Canadian National Palliative Care conducted a study where they interviewed 379 patients who were receiving palliative care for cancer (Wilson et al, 2007). Patients who desired voluntary euthanasia were followed prospectively. The results showed that 238 participants (62.8%) who believed that euthanasia and/or PAS should be legalized, and 151 (39.8%) who would consider making a future request for a physician hastened death (Wilson et al, 2007). However, only 22 (5.8%) reported that, if legally permissible, they would initiate such a request right away, in their current situations (Wilson et al, 2007). In follow up interviews with 17 participants, only 2 (11.8%) showed instability in their expressed desire. It could be the importance of trust, bravery, family and friendship among others. Some of these works are Thank You Ma am by Langston Hughes, The Treasure of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers, and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. In this first story, Thank You Ma am , a bot named Rodger desperately wants blue suede shoes, and he is willing to go so far as stealing to get them. Rodger rushes up to an older woman named Ms. Jones and tries to take her purse. Ms. Jones stops him and grabs him by the shirt and does not take him to the police, but to her house. Which seems illogical, but she has experience with the matter. She lets him clean up, gives him some food to eat and trusts him to stay alone in a room for a couple minutes with no restriction, half expecting him to run away or steal from her, but is hopeful he will not. Focused on cash basis accounting rather than accrual basis, the purpose of this statement is to describe the effects of a company s cash inflows and outflows. This paper will discuss the current standards for the statement of cash flows, the history of the statement, and if the direct method or indirect method is more advantageous for the users. Current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) states, [i]n reporting cash flows from operating activities, entities are encouraged to report major classes of gross cash receipts and gross cash payments and their arithmetic sum the net cash flow from operating activities (the direct method) (ASC 230 10 45 25). In addition, per ASC 230 10 45 30, if a company chooses to report the change in cash flow from operating activities using the direct method, it must also include a separate schedule containing the indirect method, which is a reconciliation of net income to cash flows from operating activities. In choosing to write the standards this way, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) considered both methods and recognized the advantages of each. However, the board noted that neither method provided enough benefit on its own to justify the required use of one or the other.
