Ancient Egyptian Portraitures Essay
The popularity of and the fascination with Egyptian Art come from the pyramids, mummies, and
hieroglyphs. The theme of the exhibition is about racial types in Ancient Egyptian Art it will survey
the various naturalistic facial features found in the non royal sculptures. In contrast, the Royal portraits
are extremely symbolic in representing human figures with the combination of human gods and
animal forms that tend to portray idealized, conventional faces of Egypt. Utilizing objects from the
permanent collection at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, this exhibit will display 25 portraits of
nobleman, officials, and local individuals in order to hint at a variety of racial subdivision such as the
Hykos, Nubian, Persian and Roman influence in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Brooklyn Museum s permanent collection contains a large selection of Egyptian, Classical,
Ancient Near Eastern Art sculptures, or paintings in relief. Many statues are generally idealized and
incorporated into animal form, since the intention of Ancient Egyptians was often to illustrate as much
of a traditional king as possible. Realistic features had greater possibility in the non royal portraits
than in the one for royal purposes . The assumption that Ancient Egyptian royal portraits were
accurate is based loosely on the idea that the artist would demonstrate knowledge of the tradition and
consciously take models from the previous rulers to implement into their sculptures . The differences
in the depiction of royal and a non royal portraiture will be prominent by the entrances into the
galleries. It will incorporate examples of the Head of a King from the Old Kingdom, Late Period and
Ptolemaic Period, to demonstrate resemblances in facial feature that are not highly individualized. In
contrast, the selection of objects inside the gallery will suggest portraits of non royal individuals, a
diverse civilization that has been through invasions and marital intermingling of the neighboring
countries. The selection of objects for Al Misr includes sculptures and reliefs. The various materials
representing human figures in combination with the

Effects Of Digimon On Anime
Digimon, is a rather well done series, for one, it s not a Pokemon rip off, as many people assume), so
let s get that out of the way, it s not Pokemon, so let s treat it like such. But, that s off topic. The
franchise is one of the popular ones, considering how many seasons and series, the television series
had. So we need to talk about the impact Digimon did on Anime, as I m sure it did SOMETHING.
Now the reason why I choose this topic, is that this television show was popular when I was little. Not
only that, but very few people actually know about the magna version of Digimon, because this
adaptation of its magna s counterpart so obscure, compared to the anime, which, compared to the
television series, at least people that I know have seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each Kid was given a Digivice which selected them to be transported to the DigiWorld and was
destined to be paired up with a Digimon Partner, such as Tai being paired up with Agumon and Matt
with Gabumon. The children are helped by a mysterious man/Digimon named Gennai, who helps
them via hologram. The Digivices help their Digimon allies to Digivolve into stronger creatures in
times of peril. The Digimon usually reached higher forms when their human partners are placed in
dangerous situations, such as fighting the evil forces of Devimon, Etemon and Myotismon in their
Champion forms. Later, each character discovered a crest that each belonged to a person; Tai the Crest
of Courage, Matt the Crest of Friendship, Sora the Crest of Love, Izzy the Crest of Knowledge, Mimi
the Crest of Sincerity, Joe the Crest of Reliability, T.K. the Crest of Hope, and later Kari the Crest of
Light which allowed their Digimon to digivolve into their Ultimate forms. The group consisted of
seven original characters: Taichi Tai Kamiya, Yamato Matt Ishida, Sora Takenouchi, Koushiro Izzy

Emerald Necklace Case Study
The Atlanta Beltline Emerald Necklace project, prepared by, Alex Garvin and Associates Inc., ties
together proposed and existing trails along the 23 mile long Beltline Trail in Atlanta, Georgia. This
project will provide every resident of the city with jogging, rollerblading, and cycling opportunities.
This project will also include the conservation of land for future generations by transforming current
space into parks. Moreover, by tying together 46 neighborhoods with each other and three new
MARTA stations, the 20 mile long Beltline Transit system will provide access to every major
destination in Atlanta which will include the acres that make up the Beltline Emerald Necklace (Alex
Garvin Associates, Inc., 2004). Overall, the Beltline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To maintain the operation and maintenance of parks and trails there is a need to implement a financing
mechanism to address costs. Since the Beltline is a multi use trail, revenue can be received from
easements, leaseholds, purchases, contractual agreements and land swaps (Alex Garvin Associates,
Inc., 2004). More specifically, a proven effective alternative mechanisms to finance park operations
includes lease payments, fees, real estate taxes, sales tax, and Community Improvement Districts
(CIDs) (Alex Garvin Associates, Inc., 2004). Currently, Atlanta has nine CIDs (Alex Garvin
Associates, Inc., 2004). Fees are a source of revenue that could be levied on the operation of
concessions such as festivals, snack bars and newsstands.
In conclusion, the BeltLine Emerald Necklace is a project that is sustainably good for the environment
and the bottom line. The payback period for the investment on this project includes the initial
investment up till the TAD and ARC s funding becomes available. Moreover, this investment is not
only sustainable for the environment but also the community. It would also be good for business by
adding more train stops and accessibility to a greater population in Atlanta. Furthermore, this project
did not include a specific cost benefit

A Brief Note On The And The Legacy Of The Crusades
SOLDIERS OF THE CROSS: THE LEGACY OF THE CRUSADES
William Q. McCardle

CHHI 301 B05
October 6, 2014
On a late November day, in the year 1095, the leader of the Holy Roman Catholic Church delivered a
sermon that would forever change the face of Europe. Pope Urban II roused those in attendance at the
Council of Clermont to take up arms and fight for a noble and just cause. I, or rather the Lord, beseech
you as Christ s heralds to publish this everywhere and to pers¬e all people of whatever rank, foot
soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile
race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are present, it is meant also for those who
are absent. Moreover, Christ commands it . When Pope Urban had said these ... things in his urbane
discourse, he so influenced to one purpose the desires of all who were present, that they cried out It is
the will of God! It is the will of God! . When the venerable Roman pontiff heard that, [he] said: Most
beloved brethren, today is manifest in you what the Lord says in the Gospel, Where two or three are
gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them. Unless the Lord God had been present
in your spirits, all of you would not have uttered the same cry. For, although the cry issued from
numerous mouths, yet the origin of the cry was one. Therefore I say to you that God, who implanted
this in your

The Effects Of Radioactive Decay On The World
Thorium has long been the subject of scientific research ever since its discovery, and now it appears
that this obscure element may be the energy source which could fuel humanity for generations to
come. While thorium has a complicated history, the element remains very important to humanity for
many reasons. Discovered about the same time as uranium in the 19th century, thorium has been well
known to the scientific community for many years (World Nuclear Association). In fact, famous
scientists like Marie Curie and Ernest Rutherford worked with the element in several experiments
when radioactive decay was first being discovered. Since that time, however, thorium has largely been
thrown by the wayside for use in practical applications such as energy production in favor of
neighboring elements uranium and plutonium. Things are starting to turn around for thorium though,
as people are beginning to realize that thorium power offers cleaner, more powerful, and safer energy
than anything humanity has ever known before, and they are beginning to take action to make thorium
more widely known as an important prospective energy source. Fig. 1. Thorium Element. Digital

Character Comparison for The Fall of the House of Usher ...
Interpretation of Fiction
January 31, 2012
Until Death Do Us Part Through both The Fall of the House of Usher written by Edgar Allan Poe and
A Rose for Emily written by William Faulkner, we see common themes of a gothic genre filled with
rhetorical twists and turns. The dynamics in each work are elaborately depicted through the eyes of
two narrators who are watching these pieces unfold. Many similar themes experienced in both Poe and
Faulkner s work deal with the ideology of death and preservation in regard to the one s loved and
lovers. Roderick Usher is the main character in The Fall of the House of Usher and Emily Grierson is
the main character in A Rose for Emily . In a thorough examination of both short stories, it is ... Show

As the story progresses, the narrator also questions the unique relationship Roderick and his sister
Madeline experience and how they participate in an immoral connection which is modern day incest.
Furthermore, the insanity is present in Roderick when he expresses his desire for burying his dead
sister in a tomb which is located under the house. This is also a direct connection for Poe between the
title The Fall of the House of Usher and Roderick s depleting sense of sanity. As described earlier, the
external structure is starting to decay which is a direct link to Roderick s mental capacity and the
burial of his sister, who is believed to be dead, is a decaying of the internal structure due to the
location of the tomb. The brother had been led to his resolutions (so he told me) by consideration of
the unusual character of the malady of the deceased, of certain obtrusive and eager inquiries on the
part of her medical men (Poe 1123). Here the narrator is commenting on the downward spiral he is
observing in Roderick as the story progresses because he believes that the doctors that were unable to
cure her sickness would inevitably dig up the body of Madeline and uses it for scientific research. As
the story comes to a conclusion, the narrator petitions to Roderick that he has been hearing noises.
Roderick exclaims that he had been hearing the noises that were being described for many hours,
many days (Poe 1127). As the noises drew closer, both

Tribes are classified into different food getting techniques. There are hunter gatherers men are the
hunters and woman do the gathering. They live by hunting, fishing and harvesting wild food. Shifting
Cultivators are peoples who move the location of their vegetable plots every few years and are also
hunters. Pastoralists who raise sheep and cattle and lastly agriculturalists who are simply farmers.
Many tribes in the Amazon fish by crushing plant poisons which stuns the fish. They then pick the fish
out of the water. Many other peoples used poison as a method of hunting including the Bushman in the
Kalahari. Hunting involves cleverness and modification however, there are rules. People have set

Family Structure In The Lion King Simba
Family is what you make of it. It is who you are close to, who you have a connection to, even if you
are not blood related. Family is people who you trust, people you can tell personal things to, or cry on
their shoulder. I think everyone has an honorary family member(s). They are people who are always
with you or someone you know very well. After Simba left Pride Rock he met Timon and Pumba in
the forest. They started to live the Hakuna Matata lifestyle. Simba created a family because he had no
one else to care for, and no one to care for him. They created a family structure, they had each other
and cared for each other. Even though they weren t blood related they had a family structure of a

Lying In Huck Finn
In the movie Huckleberry Finn lying plays a big role in the plot. I personally do not like lying at all
and believe it will only get you further into trouble, but this story does an excellent job of proving me
wrong. There are plenty of times where Huck easily produces a name and why he is where he is. He
effortlessly comes up with elaborate back stories and takes away any suspicion from himself. I d like
to say that there are no benefits to lying, but it definitely helps Huck escape some sticky situations.
The three areas that I will focus on are superstitions, which are lies in of themselves, Huckleberry
dresses as a girl, and the Duke and the King join Huck and Jim on the raft.
A big part of the movie Huckleberry Finn is superstition. The definition of superstition is a widely
held but unjustified belief in supernatural causation leading to certain consequences of an action or

The Macbeth Murder Mystery
In addition I really like that Thurber expressed his opinion in the form of a dialogue, thus the reader
can feel himself as a character in a story. In the The Macbeth Murder Mystery, I did not only put
myself in the place of the both characters, but I also formed my own opinions and found more
arguments to get to the truth. The first thing about a good detective is that you could not figure out
right away who the murderer is. Shakespeare is far too smart so it is not likely he would have made
Macbeth as simple as it seems.
The person you suspect the most is the one that is never guilty or shouldn t be, anyway , so there is

Immigrant men, women and children were traveling from Arkansas to California and they were riding

Lee was killed because they found out that he was part of the Massacre. If you wonder how he was the
part of it well I m about to tell you. Major John Higbee that was in command of the force at Mountain
Meadow persuaded John D. Lee to be and William Bateman to act as a decoy to draw the emigrants
out from the protection of their wagons. John D. Lee and William Bateman were waving a white flag,
marched across the field and talked to the emigrants to leave their weapons, wagons, and cattle for
there could be no harm from the Mormons. That was a lie. The emigrants listened to Lee and they
were walking with a mormon by their side. Every emigrant men and women had a Mormon by their
side with a gun. Then after a quarter mile Major John Higbee yelled Halt! Do your duty! . Then that s
when the massacre happened. Right when he said that, all the Mormons shot the emigrants that were
beside them. Only seventeen kids survived and they were maybe at least 7 years old or younger. There
was one kid that was only 4 years old and saw his mother get killed by a mormon. He said it was the
most horriblest thing he ever saw because he was right beside his mother when he saw her get shot in

all the killing to the Indians and send it to Young. When Young received it he began on his report

familiarity of understanding. For T.S. Eliot, poetry is an art which is controlled to go beyond reporting
feelings of moments, into something extended. The extended feeling, that now has meaning beyond
just an expression for emotion, is then able to live for itself, separate from its creator. Hence, poetry
becomes an escape from emotion and personality as the personality that it derives from gives birth to
something independent. Eliot is right to define poetry as something representing an extended feeling,
as the beauty of poetry is to convey meaning from something unpoetic such as pure madness;
however, he failed to include that to give meaning an independence, to a feeling is to incorporate the
poet s psychology. It takes a poet s intelligence to be able to transfer the unexplainable to something
understood by others. A poem is not just a medium of escape, it is an extension of the poet s psyche as
their experiences and knowledge of their world is what helps them craft and define the shape of their
work.
Howl, by Allen Ginsberg is an example of how a turning loose of emotion becomes not just an escape
of emotion, but an expression for his critiques against the American Society in the 1950 s. Throughout
the collection of poems, the minimal use of poetic conventions

A Research Study On The Snowshoe Hare
The snowshoe hare is an animal that seems to have a high predation rate and has struggled at times to
avoid predators and different types of climate. According to Dashiell Feierabend, Knut Kielland,
(2015) the survival and predation of these snowshoe hares was researched for quite some time, yet no
true leads have been discovered such as hare s vulnerability, which leaves the question of what
predators and climates can influence their vegetation and coverage. (Feierabend Kielland, 2015).
These beautiful creatures are preyed on by a multitude of different animals and also wander into an
array of climates. Sunny, hot, snowy, cold, windy, chances are a snowshoe hare has experienced it all.

(Feierabend Kielland, 2015). In this case, predation was the cause of death by 86%. Feierabend and
Kielland state that hares were frequently killed by goshawks within the successional forest, lynx in the
black spruce forest, and other predators. These are just some of the problems that the hares face day to
day. Hares change color depending on their climate, as well. For example, Sarah Zielinski stated that
since most animals who change color do not have control over that, they may be ill dressed and
underdressed for certain weather conditions. (Zielinksi, 2016). Zielinski stated that there was not
much evidence to back up a claim scientist made that a species could possibly be wiped out due to
weather changes and coat changes for the hares. (Zielinski, 2016). Marketa Zimova of NCSU located
in Raleigh and some other colleagues tracked around 186 snowshoe hares over the span of three years,
in two locations in Montana. The data found the result of coat color and landscape color which is
significant in both cases. The transition can take some time, and this could be deadly for the snowshoe
hare. Zielinski noted that in a study, a snowshoe hare who matched their background had a survival
rate of about 96% from week to week. Then, down to 89% when both were completely mix matched.
While that did not cause issues then, it could in the near future. (Zielinski, 2016).

American Values and The Lion King
American values are among the attributes which make a person who they are. Many fail to understand
them, there are the standards used to define these values. American values are an individual s belief
system set over time, the decisions they make in their life, their morals and what it means to be an
American citizen. Few of these notable values that Americans have stayed true to are present in the
Disney film, The Lion King. The film itself may dismiss to be nothing more than a childhood fairy
tale; however, it reflects much of how American Values are seen in the arts today.
Modern day American citizens are categorically indulged in the lifestyle obsession of the American
dream, being driven by what they see on television, hear on the radio, read in magazines/newspapers,
and in other forms of media. Mary McMahon, author of What is the American Dream? defines the
American Dream to essentially be an idea that suggests that anyone in the US can succeed through
hard work and has the potential to lead a happy, successful life (McMahon 1). This belief has the
power to infiltrate itself into a person s life, taking control of them and their actions substantially.
After some time, a person s hopes and dreams can become scrambled by confusion in their beliefs,
these beliefs are then replaced by influences in what they see, hear, or read. The Lion King is an
example of this influence in beliefs, being intended for young children to teach them about growing up
in a way that

Technology and Its Influence of Modern Transportation Essay
Technology has impacted the modern transportation. Transportation has become faster like individuals
can move rapidly starting with one place then on to the next. In the past, people cannot travel as
rapidly as today because of not having enough modern transportation. It takes just a few hours to
travel nowadays, so this lead to people travel more. Individuals can get information easily about their
cultures like what they wear, what they eat, an dhow they behave. This is how some people s custom
has been changed.

least once a month and 76 percent are streaming it from the web (par. 2). People can take online
courses these days. It is a chance for most people to get online courses on their own place. Students
have the capacity to look over many diverse programs that would help them with their needs.
Nowadays, most of the programs are available online from each department like business,

The online courses have lower costs since they do not buy textbooks; they can downloads all
assignments and all different materials that are required for their classes. Another benefit of these
online classes is saving time since students do not have to attend classes, so they might have more
time to do their assignments and study. Online classes evacuate the anxiety by permitting learners to

Manmohan Singh
In June of 1991, India was four weeks away from defaulting on its external balance of payment
obligations. India had $600 million in federal reserves, barely enough to pay for three weeks of
essential imports. It was during this time that the former Prime Minister of India N. Rao elected
Manmohan Singh as the Finance Minister. With the coming of Manmohan Singh came many
economic reforms. These reforms helped pull India from massive debt and near collapse. This leads
many to the question, How did the economic policies of Manmohan Singh help India emerge from the
1991 economic crisis?

One such example of multinational and domestic competition was when Quest started offering internet

exact on how to retain the remaining customers that had flocked to Quest. By lowering prices and
establishing a strong consumer fan base, they were able to overtake Quest within India within ten
years. The opening of the economy led to a more freedom, helping to raise the self image of Indian
economy.
Manmohan Singh made another choice that helped push the entire economy out of the ditch that it was
trapped in. He made the choice to deregulate and privatize underperforming businesses, helping to
increase GDP, as well as relieve internal government debt. Before the 1991 crisis, one could not own a
business without explicit permission form the government s financial department, or if you completed
a rigorous paperwork completion course called License Raj that took months, in some cases a whole
year to complete. When the crisis hit, India s debt stood at 68.05% of the GDP. To remove this debt,
Manmohan Singh removed the License Raj, replacing it with more simplistic paperwork to obtain a

Similarities between Frankenstein and A Work of Artifice
Frankenstein and the poem A Work of Artifice portray almost the same message. These pieces by
Mary Shelley and Marge Piercy include both similar themes and ideas. The stories both involve a
theme of misconception, similar characters in which is easily depicted, and the theme of alienation and
loneliness presents itself in both pieces. The tree in A Work of Artifice and the monster in
Frankenstein are outcasts on society itself, the main characters of each are actually very similar and so
is the misconception that falls on both main characters in both pieces of work.

Both the creature from Frankenstein and the bonsai tree from A Work of Artifice hold similar traits
and characteristics. Victor Frankenstein, the creature s creator, and the gardener, the bonsai tree s
creator hold similar traits and characteristics as well.
The theme of alienation and loneliness both present themselves in these pieces. The tree longs for
freedom and to grow and stretch out as long as it wants to. Could have grown eighty feet tall on the
side of a mountain (Piercy 3 4). This quote shows exactly the longing for growth upon it. But a
gardener carefully pruned it. It is nine inches high. Every day as he whittles back the branches the
gardener croons, It is your nature to be small and cozy. (Piercy 6 13). Instead of the tree expanding out
and growing to its full potential like it would like to do, the gardener cuts it down every day and
prevents it from growing at all. The tree has to sit alone in a pot, and not prosper and thrive to be the
biggest and tallest tree there it wants to be. This theme presents itself in Frankenstein also, All men
hate the wretched; how, then, must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all living things! Yet you, my
creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature, to whom thou art bound by ties only dissoluble by
annihilation of one of us (Shelley 95). Right here the creature is basically saying I have no freedom at

The lymph enters the lymph nodes through afferent lymphatic vessels and exits through the efferent

Most lymphoid organs contain both macrophages and lymphocytes. The spleen is a place for immune

Descriptive Essay About A Birthday
Daddy s home! I yelled from the couch in front of the window where I was waiting for him.
I unlocked the front door and ran as fast as I could towards him, embracing him in a hug, Daddy!
He knelt down so that his eyes were level with mine and said with a mischievous smile, I have a
surprise for you in the car.
What is it? what is it? I pleaded.
It s a birthday present, but we have to wait for mommy, cause I know she ll want to be there when you
open it.
Okay, I replied slightly disappointed.
Let s go inside, it s going to get dark soon.
Okay, daddy.
He stood up and opened the passenger side door and got a huge box, wrapped in pink wrapping paper
off the seat and took it inside, while I marveled at size of the box and pondering what it could be.
I stepped inside and closed the door, Mommy! Daddy got me a present! Did you see it?
Yeah, I did! I wonder what it could be, she added with that loving smile that only she could give.
I sat down on the couch, in front of the pile of presents on the coffee table, with the bigger presents on
the floor. In the kitchen I could see a cake with many frosted and colorful flowers on it and a big
number seven candle in the middle.
Can we do presents now? I asked with excitement.
Of course. After all it is your birthday. Said daddy.
I took the smallest one and ripped the wrapping paper off. I smiled widely as I looked down at the
brown haired Barbie doll and looked at my mom and dad, Thank you!

Stereotypes In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood, a book written by Truman Capote, details about a murder case in 1959 in Holcomb.
The four victims in this book where apart of the Christian church which in their community, which
was very ethnically diverse, Christianity was the most popular religion.
In the book we see that Christianity was more than just a religion, it was their way of living. The
villagers went by Gods words and they would socialize in the church. We also notice that in the book
Capote creates the following stereotype: good people are believers of the lord and bad people are
followers of Satan or are lost.
The way that he creates this is by using the following non believers of the lord characters to represent
this stereotype: Perry and Dick. Perry in the story reveals to have homosexual tendencies, which in
Christianity homosexuality is a sin, and Dick represents the seven deadly sins. Dick desires money,
sex, and power while Perry only desires to be loved and to get an education. In the story it is revealed
that Perry at one point was catholic but because of the abuse that he suffered in the catholic orphanage
he stopped believing in God and became lost. As a child Perry had vision of a huge golden bird which

counter and payment counter are their lines, and they also have salad bars and drink area. Not only the
layout needs to be re designed, other issues also need to be solved. 1. It needs to solve the staffing
problems. They should arrange more staff in the interactive cooking during the peak hours, and
arrange less staff for the precooked counter, which means it, could be a self serve section. They can
consider issuing numbers to their customers for the interactive cooking line to allow a quicker order.
2. They should also set up the broadcast to inform customers to collect the food after taking the order
and then customers can go to salad, drink area and payment line. This needs them to create a separate
area for the collection at the end of the interactive line. 3. By using the new POS system, they can
improve their daily deal prices, and gathering feedback from customers about their food and services.

The Deregulation Act Of The United States
Paul Stephen Dempsey, the Hughes Research Professor of Law and Director of the Transportation
Law Program at the University Of Denver College Of Law, takes the speculation on the cost to the
ultimate level. Through his collection of data, he shows that although revenue per passenger mile fell
at 2.4% (1978 88) compared to 1.7% (1967 77), if the fuel prices are kept constant, the fuel adjusted
real yield shows that the prices were falling more rapidly at 2.7% (1967 77) compared to 2.0% (1978
88). These figures proved that consumers were paying more in 1988 then what they would have paid
with regulation in effect.
Surprisingly enough, the corroboration that the real cost has not declined after the act does not relate

As Kathy suggests, safety can be mainly evaluated through the airport funding and fleet age. A quote
from her article reveals the concerns at airport funding: The general Accounting Office says the
country spends $3 billion less per year on airport infrastructure than is needed to keep up with the
increased demand for air travel. This under level funding may mainspring airports to function
clumsily, and may be the root for the air traffic controllers experiencing significant system failures
(Koch). Such failures have led to near misses. The supplementary salient aspect of safety the fleet age
has also seen a degradation. One of the graphs shows that the Average Age of Fleet in the US is much
higher than the planes flown by other industrialized nations (Koch). The decrepit planes have elevated
prospects of getting technical problems that could cost numerous lives. Dempsey presents a table
accounting the fleet age of different American airlines in his article to substantiate how sharply it has
escalated after the act. Following closely is given a table of Number of Mechanics per Aircraft that
reflects a drastic shrink in numbers for most airlines (except Northwest, Pan Am, and United) (Flying
Blind). The reduced number of technicians per aircraft results in lesser care for the aircraft that might
lead to accidents. This makes it clear that airlines are putting passenger safety at risk to increase their
profits.

The Jewish community is distinguished by a rich history, rooted in traditions that have been in place

Analysis Of John Steinbeck s Essay Why Soldiers Won T Talk
World War II was a profusioning and distressing experience for a plethora of Americans. Men and
women both suffered during the WWII. Soldiers were going thru many awful and life changing
experiences that lead most soldiers to have PTSD. But back home United States citizens were free and
loved their constitutional right amendment 14. Many authors began to expose the truth about the
soldier s experiences like john Steinbeck and Randall Jarrell, Both were in the military. So they were
conveying there experience by capturing the feeling and emotions to show public policy.
In John Steinbeck s essay Why Soldiers Won t Talk explains the physical, mental, and emotional
adversities combat has on soldiers. Your eyes do not pick up much detail and the sharp lines of objects
are slightly blurred. Everything looks a little unreal (John Steinbeck). He is describing how sleep
played a role in the lives of the soldiers during war. He also mentions how sleep is like a drug and
comes without warning. This infers that sleep in spontaneous and took soldiers away from the
traumatizing and abusive time of war because drug abusers use drugs to escape reality. It puts their

in South Africa, this short story addresses the issue of racial divide within a single area. Throughout
the text, the author makes use of parallels between black people and animals, and white people and
hunters, as well as variations on use of the word ultimate in the text to illustrate the schism between
the rich Caucasians and the poor black people, making apparent through this the inferiority of the
latter.
The story begins with a travel advertisement that encourages the citizens of London, a country
primarily made up of caucasian people, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator and her companions are still treated similarly to animals, though undoubtedly in a more
humane manner than they were previously. Tended to by the area s existing citizens, a population of
Caucasian people, they are medically treated, housed in a tent, and are slowly integrated into their new
home, in the same way that a domesticated animal usually is. They have not forgotten the country that
they had originally come from, though. Similarly, it is in the nature of animals to want to return to
their territory, their original habitat. Though the family and the rest of their companions are accepted
by the existing villagers in the area and have integrated fairly well into society, some kind of an air of
fascination seems to continue hanging about them. Still a somewhat of a curiosity to white people,
they are photographed and questioned through the use of an interpreter for a film. This scene in
particular, in the way the white people interact with the narrator s family, evokes thoughts of a zoo, if
not of a lab experiment, situations wherein animals are observed as oddities, a species almost alien to
us and our understanding. In a similar way to the scene in the text, it is not uncommon for people
nowadays to hire professionals to enable them to understand their

Re: 2015 2016 Law Student Tax Challenge Problem
Mr. Paul,
Thank you for contacting our firm again this year to assist you in determining the tax consequences of
your business and investment activities. We have completely analyzed all of your investments and will
summarize the tax results for your review below. Your stock compensation package sounds great, but
since you are receiving this as compensation for services, you must report this as income to the IRS.
Unless you can show an inability to freely transfer the stock to someone other than your employer, or
that the stock is subject to an obligation of providing future services or ... Show more content on

The remaining two thirds of stock will not vest in 2015, because you can still forfeit the right to
receive them. These shares will only be included in your future tax returns if you continue your
employment with the company.
Congratulations on your new investment in the lemonade truck, though I m sorry it s not going as well
as you would have liked. Lucky for you the IRS permits deductions for the expenses of starting a new
business. There are two requirements for a deduction on account of start up costs.
First, the payment must be paid in connection with creating a business. Within the past year you have
incurred several expenses in connection with starting the business: (1) $1,000 of your own money as a
down payment on the truck; (2) a $49,000 loan for the truck; (3) $750 for the lemonade maker; and (4)
$1,500 on lemons, sugar, and boba tea.
Second, the expenses must be one that is allowed as a deduction. To be deducted the expense must be
ordinary, necessary, and incurred during the taxable year in order to carry on the business. In
determining whether expenses are necessary, we look to the purpose in making the payments and
whether they have a connection to the business. In your case this would be to have a place to run your
business, and to have the equipment and inventory needed to make your product. A necessary expense
is one that is appropriate and helpful for the business. It is both appropriate and extremely helpful to
have a place

The Constitution Is Revered For Both Its Age And Its Brevity
The U.S Constitution is revered for both its age and its brevity. The Constitution is a short and concise
document has been able to stand the test of time and it has remained the ultimate guide of principles
for law creation and enforcement. With that being said, the words of the Constitution are unclear in
many respects. Politicians have debates over the Constitution due to the reason that it is difficult to
figure out what the Framers meant when they originally wrote the Constitution. According to the
Constitution, the Supreme Court has the authority to decide if a law passed by Congress is
Constitutional. However, the vagueness of the Constitution allows for the Supreme Court to interpret
the Constitution differently since they have to figure out how to apply it to the twenty first century.
The vagueness of constitution, while enabling the country to progress, has also been the source of
conflict among the individuals in government office. In terms of the Supreme Court, there is a
fundamental philosophical debate on how the vagueness of the constitution should be interpreted.
Both sides adhere strictly to the written words of the Constitution there is no debate about that. But
much of the constitutional rhetoric is open for interpretation, creating two schools of thought. The first
thought, originalism argues that the Supreme Court should interpret the constitution solely to reflect
the original views of the framers. Not only should the exact text be considered, but

Ancient Greek Constellations
Have you ever had one of those days where you d take a nice walk in the night time and just gaze into
the night sky, and when you look up you see a bunch of beautiful stars. Well, if you have taken a
closer look you may have noticed that the stars have patterns that create images called constellations.
Constellations are a group of stars that are connected together to represent mythological images of
animals and objects from the past that is located in the celestial sphere 1, 3. They were mainly
discovered by the early people, primarily used as references to coordinate directions, measure time,
predict farming seasons, and for religious studies3. According to the International Astronomical
Union, there are 88 constellations in the sky, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As constellations move about one degree per day, they complete a 360 degrees circular motion in a
year, making them return back to the same position as they were the year before3. As mentioned
earlier the rotation of constellations depends on where you look and your location. For instance, a
person who looks up North would tend to realize that the constellations are rotating in the
counterclockwise direction around the north celestial pole, which is beside Polaris3. The explanation
to why it seems like the constellations are rotating counterclockwise is because the earth spins from
west to east, meaning that it is rotating to the right, while the stars and constellations above, moves
from east to west3. In contrast, those who face the south, will see the stars rotate clockwise3. For a
person who is facing the east will see the stars rise in the front of them and set behind, while a person
who faces the west will see the stars rise behind and set in front of them3. Though constellations travel
from East to West like the planets, people from different parts of the world will have a different
standpoint on the movements of the constellations. Now that we have an understanding of
constellations, lets take a look at a few notable ones, starting with the

The Novel The Scarlet Letter
The Weight of a Name The Scarlet Letter is a timeless novel because of the timeless characters
depicted in the piece. Each character was carefully constructed by Nathanial Hawthorne to represent a
specific aspect of sin. He used these characters to tell a story that would translate how distorted the
Puritans view of sin was. Not only did he thoughtfully plan the characters personalities, backgrounds,
and beliefs out in order to convey this distortion of sin, but their names were carefully considered as
well. Nathanial Hawthorne purposefully chose the names of the major supporting characters in The
Scarlet Letter Pearl, Roger Chillingworth, and Arthur Dimmesdale, in order to symbolically hint at the
significance of each of these characters in the novel. Hawthorne viewed the greatest sin of all to be
hypocrisy, not the sin of adultery that Hester Prynne, the main character in the novel, was found guilty
of. Hester had a child born from her adulterous act. This child became the literal embodiment of the
sin committed, yet was strategically named Pearl, something pure. Melissa Pennell, a literary analyzer
of The Scarlet Letter wrote, Hester consciously gives Pearl a name that has symbolic value (Pennell
83). The name Pearl was chosen because she knew her daughter had come at great price (Johnson 77).
Pearls are cultivated from dust into something of great value, just as Pearl was born from a sinful act
and considered by a majority in the community to be the spawn of

The Five Kingdom Classification System
In 1758 a man called Carl Linnaeus proposed the two kingdom classification system. This system
separated all living things into two categories called kingdoms. The two kingdoms were plante
(plants) and animalia (animals).this system was the basis to our classification system today (the five
kingdom system).
In 1674 the first unicellular organisms were discovered by a man called Antoine van Leeuwenhoek.
This discovery was due to his improvement to the microscope. This improvement meant an object
could be magnified over 200 times, hence why micro organisms were found. This improvement in the
microscope also assisted into the discovery of prokaryotes and eukaryotes. This discovery meant that
two new kingdoms could be created, kingdom monera and kingdom Protista. The improvement of the
microscope has helped develop the two kingdom system into the five kingdom system it is today.
DNA sequencing is a process used to determine the order of the nucleotides of a gene. Dna
Sequencing has advanced extremely from almost a decade ago, due to the improvement of
bioinformatics. Bioinformatics is the use of computer technologies to manage and analyse biological
data. The improvement Bioinformatics has meant DNA sequencing has become much easier, faster
and more cost effective. The improvement of the DNA sequencing technique meant that taxonomists
could use DNA sequences as characteristics when classifying specimens. Using DNA sequences as
characteristics meant classifying microorganisms

put into the town in order to make it both a religious as well as intellectual powerhouse that it would
come to be known as. Overall, this chapter serves the purpose of opening to the events that would
transpire regarding Luther, Wittenberg, the Catholic Church, and the printing industry of Germany.

miscommunications between those of his inner circle as well as the painful last days of a dying man

  • 2. Ancient Egyptian Portraitures Essay The popularity of and the fascination with Egyptian Art come from the pyramids, mummies, and hieroglyphs. The theme of the exhibition is about racial types in Ancient Egyptian Art it will survey the various naturalistic facial features found in the non royal sculptures. In contrast, the Royal portraits are extremely symbolic in representing human figures with the combination of human gods and animal forms that tend to portray idealized, conventional faces of Egypt. Utilizing objects from the permanent collection at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, this exhibit will display 25 portraits of nobleman, officials, and local individuals in order to hint at a variety of racial subdivision such as the Hykos, Nubian, Persian and Roman influence in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Brooklyn Museum s permanent collection contains a large selection of Egyptian, Classical, Ancient Near Eastern Art sculptures, or paintings in relief. Many statues are generally idealized and incorporated into animal form, since the intention of Ancient Egyptians was often to illustrate as much of a traditional king as possible. Realistic features had greater possibility in the non royal portraits than in the one for royal purposes . The assumption that Ancient Egyptian royal portraits were accurate is based loosely on the idea that the artist would demonstrate knowledge of the tradition and consciously take models from the previous rulers to implement into their sculptures . The differences in the depiction of royal and a non royal portraiture will be prominent by the entrances into the galleries. It will incorporate examples of the Head of a King from the Old Kingdom, Late Period and Ptolemaic Period, to demonstrate resemblances in facial feature that are not highly individualized. In contrast, the selection of objects inside the gallery will suggest portraits of non royal individuals, a diverse civilization that has been through invasions and marital intermingling of the neighboring countries. The selection of objects for Al Misr includes sculptures and reliefs. The various materials representing human figures in combination with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Effects Of Digimon On Anime Digimon, is a rather well done series, for one, it s not a Pokemon rip off, as many people assume), so let s get that out of the way, it s not Pokemon, so let s treat it like such. But, that s off topic. The franchise is one of the popular ones, considering how many seasons and series, the television series had. So we need to talk about the impact Digimon did on Anime, as I m sure it did SOMETHING. Now the reason why I choose this topic, is that this television show was popular when I was little. Not only that, but very few people actually know about the magna version of Digimon, because this adaptation of its magna s counterpart so obscure, compared to the anime, which, compared to the television series, at least people that I know have seen ... The Digimon usually reached higher forms when their human partners are placed in dangerous situations, such as fighting the evil forces of Devimon, Etemon and Myotismon in their Champion forms. Later, each character discovered a crest that each belonged to a person; Tai the Crest of Courage, Matt the Crest of Friendship, Sora the Crest of Love, Izzy the Crest of Knowledge, Mimi the Crest of Sincerity, Joe the Crest of Reliability, T.K. the Crest of Hope, and later Kari the Crest of Light which allowed their Digimon to digivolve into their Ultimate forms. Since the Beltline is a multi use trail, revenue can be received from easements, leaseholds, purchases, contractual agreements and land swaps (Alex Garvin Associates, Inc., 2004). More specifically, a proven effective alternative mechanisms to finance park operations includes lease payments, fees, real estate taxes, sales tax, and Community Improvement Districts (CIDs) (Alex Garvin Associates, Inc., 2004). Currently, Atlanta has nine CIDs (Alex Garvin Associates, Inc., 2004). Fees are a source of revenue that could be levied on the operation of concessions such as festivals, snack bars and newsstands. In conclusion, the BeltLine Emerald Necklace is a project that is sustainably good for the environment and the bottom line. The payback period for the investment on this project includes the initial investment up till the TAD and ARC s funding becomes available. McCardle Liberty University Online CHHI 301 B05 October 6, 2014 On a late November day, in the year 1095, the leader of the Holy Roman Catholic Church delivered a sermon that would forever change the face of Europe. Pope Urban II roused those in attendance at the Council of Clermont to take up arms and fight for a noble and just cause. I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ s heralds to publish this everywhere and to pers¬e all people of whatever rank, foot soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are present, it is meant also for those who are absent. Moreover, Christ commands it . When Pope Urban had said these ... things in his urbane discourse, he so influenced to one purpose the desires of all who were present, that they cried out It is the will of God! It is the will of God! . When the venerable Roman pontiff heard that, [he] said: Most beloved brethren, today is manifest in you what the Lord says in the Gospel, Where two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them. • 6. The Effects Of Radioactive Decay On The World Thorium has long been the subject of scientific research ever since its discovery, and now it appears that this obscure element may be the energy source which could fuel humanity for generations to come. While thorium has a complicated history, the element remains very important to humanity for many reasons. Discovered about the same time as uranium in the 19th century, thorium has been well known to the scientific community for many years (World Nuclear Association). In fact, famous scientists like Marie Curie and Ernest Rutherford worked with the element in several experiments when radioactive decay was first being discovered. Since that time, however, thorium has largely been thrown by the wayside for use in practical applications such as energy production in favor of neighboring elements uranium and plutonium. Things are starting to turn around for thorium though, as people are beginning to realize that thorium power offers cleaner, more powerful, and safer energy than anything humanity has ever known before, and they are beginning to take action to make thorium more widely known as an important prospective energy source. Interpretation of Fiction January 31, 2012 Until Death Do Us Part Through both The Fall of the House of Usher written by Edgar Allan Poe and A Rose for Emily written by William Faulkner, we see common themes of a gothic genre filled with rhetorical twists and turns. The dynamics in each work are elaborately depicted through the eyes of two narrators who are watching these pieces unfold. Many similar themes experienced in both Poe and Faulkner s work deal with the ideology of death and preservation in regard to the one s loved and lovers. As the story progresses, the narrator also questions the unique relationship Roderick and his sister Madeline experience and how they participate in an immoral connection which is modern day incest. Furthermore, the insanity is present in Roderick when he expresses his desire for burying his dead sister in a tomb which is located under the house. This is also a direct connection for Poe between the title The Fall of the House of Usher and Roderick s depleting sense of sanity. As described earlier, the external structure is starting to decay which is a direct link to Roderick s mental capacity and the burial of his sister, who is believed to be dead, is a decaying of the internal structure due to the location of the tomb. The brother had been led to his resolutions (so he told me) by consideration of the unusual character of the malady of the deceased, of certain obtrusive and eager inquiries on the part of her medical men (Poe 1123). Here the narrator is commenting on the downward spiral he is observing in Roderick as the story progresses because he believes that the doctors that were unable to cure her sickness would inevitably dig up the body of Madeline and uses it for scientific research. As the story comes to a conclusion, the narrator petitions to Roderick that he has been hearing noises. Roderick exclaims that he had been hearing the noises that were being described for many hours, many days (Poe 1127). As the noises drew closer, both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the The Macbeth Murder Mystery, I did not only put myself in the place of the both characters, but I also formed my own opinions and found more arguments to get to the truth. The first thing about a good detective is that you could not figure out right away who the murderer is. Shakespeare is far too smart so it is not likely he would have made Macbeth as simple as it seems. The person you suspect the most is the one that is never guilty or shouldn t be, anyway , so there is now way Macbeth would be the murderer. But then who? Macduff obviously. John D. Lee and William Bateman were waving a white flag, marched across the field and talked to the emigrants to leave their weapons, wagons, and cattle for there could be no harm from the Mormons. • 20. Howl By Allen Ginsberg Critical Analysis Poetry may be defined in many ways: for different people arising from different backgrounds, (levels of education, beliefs, culture, and family), poetry may be viewed in many perspectives that suit their familiarity of understanding. For T.S. Eliot, poetry is an art which is controlled to go beyond reporting feelings of moments, into something extended. The extended feeling, that now has meaning beyond just an expression for emotion, is then able to live for itself, separate from its creator. Hence, poetry becomes an escape from emotion and personality as the personality that it derives from gives birth to something independent. Eliot is right to define poetry as something representing an extended feeling, as the beauty of poetry is to convey meaning from something unpoetic such as pure madness; however, he failed to include that to give meaning an independence, to a feeling is to incorporate the poet s psychology. It takes a poet s intelligence to be able to transfer the unexplainable to something understood by others. A poem is not just a medium of escape, it is an extension of the poet s psyche as their experiences and knowledge of their world is what helps them craft and define the shape of their work. Howl, by Allen Ginsberg is an example of how a turning loose of emotion becomes not just an escape of emotion, but an expression for his critiques against the American Society in the 1950 s. Throughout the collection of poems, the minimal use of poetic conventions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Feierabend and Kielland state that hares were frequently killed by goshawks within the successional forest, lynx in the black spruce forest, and other predators. These are just some of the problems that the hares face day to day. Hares change color depending on their climate, as well. For example, Sarah Zielinski stated that since most animals who change color do not have control over that, they may be ill dressed and underdressed for certain weather conditions. (Zielinksi, 2016). Zielinski stated that there was not much evidence to back up a claim scientist made that a species could possibly be wiped out due to weather changes and coat changes for the hares. The data found the result of coat color and landscape color which is significant in both cases. The transition can take some time, and this could be deadly for the snowshoe hare. Zielinski noted that in a study, a snowshoe hare who matched their background had a survival rate of about 96% from week to week. Then, down to 89% when both were completely mix matched. • 22. American Values and The Lion King American values are among the attributes which make a person who they are. Many fail to understand them, there are the standards used to define these values. American values are an individual s belief system set over time, the decisions they make in their life, their morals and what it means to be an American citizen. Few of these notable values that Americans have stayed true to are present in the Disney film, The Lion King. The film itself may dismiss to be nothing more than a childhood fairy tale; however, it reflects much of how American Values are seen in the arts today. Modern day American citizens are categorically indulged in the lifestyle obsession of the American dream, being driven by what they see on television, hear on the radio, read in magazines/newspapers, and in other forms of media. Mary McMahon, author of What is the American Dream? defines the American Dream to essentially be an idea that suggests that anyone in the US can succeed through hard work and has the potential to lead a happy, successful life (McMahon 1). This belief has the power to infiltrate itself into a person s life, taking control of them and their actions substantially. After some time, a person s hopes and dreams can become scrambled by confusion in their beliefs, these beliefs are then replaced by influences in what they see, hear, or read. The Lion King is an example of this influence in beliefs, being intended for young children to teach them about growing up in a way that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This under level funding may mainspring airports to function clumsily, and may be the root for the air traffic controllers experiencing significant system failures (Koch). • 38. Analysis Of John Steinbeck s Essay Why Soldiers Won T Talk World War II was a profusioning and distressing experience for a plethora of Americans. Men and women both suffered during the WWII. Soldiers were going thru many awful and life changing experiences that lead most soldiers to have PTSD. But back home United States citizens were free and loved their constitutional right amendment 14. Many authors began to expose the truth about the soldier s experiences like john Steinbeck and Randall Jarrell, Both were in the military. So they were conveying there experience by capturing the feeling and emotions to show public policy. In John Steinbeck s essay Why Soldiers Won t Talk explains the physical, mental, and emotional adversities combat has on soldiers. Your eyes do not pick up much detail and the sharp lines of objects are slightly blurred. Everything looks a little unreal (John Steinbeck). He is describing how sleep played a role in the lives of the soldiers during war. He also mentions how sleep is like a drug and comes without warning. This infers that sleep in spontaneous and took soldiers away from the traumatizing and abusive time of war because drug abusers use drugs to escape reality. It puts their sense at ease. However, Jarrell s poem The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner is first hand illustrating a soldier who dies during war in the ball of a turret. Six miles from ... • 39. What Is The Theme Of The Ultimate Safari The experiences of a young girl and her family as they are relocated the height of war are chronicled in Nadine Gordimer s The Ultimate Safari . Set during the incredibly turbulent time of the Apartheid in South Africa, this short story addresses the issue of racial divide within a single area. Throughout the text, the author makes use of parallels between black people and animals, and white people and hunters, as well as variations on use of the word ultimate in the text to illustrate the schism between the rich Caucasians and the poor black people, making apparent through this the inferiority of the latter. The story begins with a travel advertisement that encourages the citizens of London, a country primarily made up of caucasian people, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator and her companions are still treated similarly to animals, though undoubtedly in a more humane manner than they were previously. Tended to by the area s existing citizens, a population of Caucasian people, they are medically treated, housed in a tent, and are slowly integrated into their new home, in the same way that a domesticated animal usually is. They have not forgotten the country that they had originally come from, though. Similarly, it is in the nature of animals to want to return to their territory, their original habitat. Though the family and the rest of their companions are accepted by the existing villagers in the area and have integrated fairly well into society, some kind of an air of fascination seems to continue hanging about them. Still a somewhat of a curiosity to white people, they are photographed and questioned through the use of an interpreter for a film. This scene in particular, in the way the white people interact with the narrator s family, evokes thoughts of a zoo, if not of a lab experiment, situations wherein animals are observed as oddities, a species almost alien to us and our understanding. In a similar way to the scene in the text, it is not uncommon for people nowadays to hire professionals to enable them to understand their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Congratulations on your new investment in the lemonade truck, though I m sorry it s not going as well as you would have liked. Lucky for you the IRS permits deductions for the expenses of starting a new business. There are two requirements for a deduction on account of start up costs. First, the payment must be paid in connection with creating a business. Within the past year you have incurred several expenses in connection with starting the business: (1) $1,000 of your own money as a down payment on the truck; (2) a $49,000 loan for the truck; (3) $750 for the lemonade maker; and (4) $1,500 on lemons, sugar, and boba tea. Second, the expenses must be one that is allowed as a deduction. To be deducted the expense must be ordinary, necessary, and incurred during the taxable year in order to carry on the business. In determining whether expenses are necessary, we look to the purpose in making the payments and whether they have a connection to the business. In your case this would be to have a place to run your business, and to have the equipment and inventory needed to make your product. A necessary expense is one that is appropriate and helpful for the business. It is both appropriate and extremely helpful to have a place ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Constitution Is Revered For Both Its Age And Its Brevity The U.S Constitution is revered for both its age and its brevity. The Constitution is a short and concise document has been able to stand the test of time and it has remained the ultimate guide of principles for law creation and enforcement. With that being said, the words of the Constitution are unclear in many respects. Politicians have debates over the Constitution due to the reason that it is difficult to figure out what the Framers meant when they originally wrote the Constitution. According to the Constitution, the Supreme Court has the authority to decide if a law passed by Congress is Constitutional. However, the vagueness of the Constitution allows for the Supreme Court to interpret the Constitution differently since they have to figure out how to apply it to the twenty first century. The vagueness of constitution, while enabling the country to progress, has also been the source of conflict among the individuals in government office. In terms of the Supreme Court, there is a fundamental philosophical debate on how the vagueness of the constitution should be interpreted. Both sides adhere strictly to the written words of the Constitution there is no debate about that. But much of the constitutional rhetoric is open for interpretation, creating two schools of thought. The first thought, originalism argues that the Supreme Court should interpret the constitution solely to reflect the original views of the framers. Not only should the exact text be considered, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ancient Greek Constellations Have you ever had one of those days where you d take a nice walk in the night time and just gaze into the night sky, and when you look up you see a bunch of beautiful stars. Well, if you have taken a closer look you may have noticed that the stars have patterns that create images called constellations. Constellations are a group of stars that are connected together to represent mythological images of animals and objects from the past that is located in the celestial sphere 1, 3. They were mainly discovered by the early people, primarily used as references to coordinate directions, measure time, predict farming seasons, and for religious studies3. As constellations move about one degree per day, they complete a 360 degrees circular motion in a year, making them return back to the same position as they were the year before3. As mentioned earlier the rotation of constellations depends on where you look and your location. For instance, a person who looks up North would tend to realize that the constellations are rotating in the counterclockwise direction around the north celestial pole, which is beside Polaris3. The explanation to why it seems like the constellations are rotating counterclockwise is because the earth spins from west to east, meaning that it is rotating to the right, while the stars and constellations above, moves from east to west3. In contrast, those who face the south, will see the stars rotate clockwise3. For a person who is facing the east will see the stars rise in the front of them and set behind, while a person who faces the west will see the stars rise behind and set in front of them3. Though constellations travel from East to West like the planets, people from different parts of the world will have a different standpoint on the movements of the constellations. Now that we have an understanding of constellations, lets take a look at a few notable ones, starting with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. The Novel The Scarlet Letter The Weight of a Name The Scarlet Letter is a timeless novel because of the timeless characters depicted in the piece. Each character was carefully constructed by Nathanial Hawthorne to represent a specific aspect of sin. He used these characters to tell a story that would translate how distorted the Puritans view of sin was. Not only did he thoughtfully plan the characters personalities, backgrounds, and beliefs out in order to convey this distortion of sin, but their names were carefully considered as well. Nathanial Hawthorne purposefully chose the names of the major supporting characters in The Scarlet Letter Pearl, Roger Chillingworth, and Arthur Dimmesdale, in order to symbolically hint at the significance of each of these characters in the novel. Hawthorne viewed the greatest sin of all to be hypocrisy, not the sin of adultery that Hester Prynne, the main character in the novel, was found guilty of. Hester had a child born from her adulterous act. This child became the literal embodiment of the sin committed, yet was strategically named Pearl, something pure. Melissa Pennell, a literary analyzer of The Scarlet Letter wrote, Hester consciously gives Pearl a name that has symbolic value (Pennell 83). The name Pearl was chosen because she knew her daughter had come at great price (Johnson 77). Pearls are cultivated from dust into something of great value, just as Pearl was born from a sinful act and considered by a majority in the community to be the spawn of ... • 45. The Five Kingdom Classification System In 1758 a man called Carl Linnaeus proposed the two kingdom classification system. This system separated all living things into two categories called kingdoms. The two kingdoms were plante (plants) and animalia (animals).this system was the basis to our classification system today (the five kingdom system). In 1674 the first unicellular organisms were discovered by a man called Antoine van Leeuwenhoek. This discovery was due to his improvement to the microscope. This improvement meant an object could be magnified over 200 times, hence why micro organisms were found. This improvement in the microscope also assisted into the discovery of prokaryotes and eukaryotes. This discovery meant that two new kingdoms could be created, kingdom monera and kingdom Protista. The improvement of the microscope has helped develop the two kingdom system into the five kingdom system it is today.
