Going the Speedlimit Essay
Going the Speedlimit There are many approaches that we humans use to weasel out of a speeding
ticket. This is not an easy task, but it has been mastered by a select few. The very reasonable way of
just not speeding is used quite often. The method of lying is frequently used. This is sometimes
effective and usually safe. The flirtatious approach (which usually is used only by females) is tried
numerous times on male officers. Finally, there is the method of outrunning the cops . This method
quite often ends in arrest. Not speeding is probably the best bet of not getting a ticket. If you aren t
speeding then you have removed yourself from the situation of ever getting a ticket. Although this is
the most intelligent and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lying out of a ticket is a very commonly used approach. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they
fail miserably. A few examples of the commonly used lies are: but officer, I was running really late for
work today , and I m sorry officer, there is a family emergency , and we can t forget the often used but
officer, I didn t realize I was speeding, my speedometer must be off . People have tried to pull off
countless other lies on policemen. The list goes on. The flirtatious method is one of great skill that has
been perfected by females across the country. When an officer pulls over a female, the female will do
one or two things. She will either put her lips, bat her eyes, and turn on the charm (usually done by
women who think of themselves as somewhat attractive), or cry (usually done by women who find it
easy to make themselves to look innocent). Both of these methods are highly recommendable
(speaking from personal experience). Last but not least, there is the outrunning the cops method. I
would not recommend this to anyone who has a vehicle with a 4 cylinder. More than likely if this
method is used, the person getting pulled over is either intoxicated or just stupid. Many who try this
wind up being arrested which is something most of us try to avoid. Not only will this get you a
speeding ticket; you will receive two more for driving while intoxicated and failing to yield to a police
officer. If this were to happen, you probably wouldn t

The Challenges Of Buying Healthy Food
After we spitted our tasks separated into 2 groups we quickly get an Uber in order to get to our
destination without wasting any time. During the interview process, the most surprising thing
(moments) about it was the amount of people participating. After me and my teammates spent about 5
minutes standing in front of Safeway we approach one of the costumer walking out from Safeway s
exist, she was carrying 2 groceries bags, so almost immediately we walked up to her in order to ask
her a simple questions that we had prepared. The funniest yet saddest respond back was Sorry, I really
don t have time to stop and the bags are very heavy. The lady slowly walked away from us, after we
got rejected we immediately changed us way to approach people. Instead of asking the people walking
in and out with 2 3 long questions, we switch to short and simple questions; for example what are the
challenges from buying healthy food? or What is stopping you from buying or eating healthy food and
products? etc. While we conducting the interview, we realized that the shorter the simpler the
questions, the more effective the interview. When we start interviewing people with long questions,
lots of people tented to hesitate on answering, some even walk away after the first question. After we
change our strategy and questions into shorter and simpler, people turn out to be more interested in
answering and more collaborative, especially when we helped narrow the answer choices into yes or

Mending the Transatlantic Rift Essay
Mending the Transatlantic Rift
The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 ushered in an era of dramatic change for foreign policy
and the international system. Most obviously, the United States sense of invulnerability eroded as an
acute awareness to the perils of terrorism gripped the American public. In American foreign policy, the
dominant paradigms evolved. Whereas the Cold War notion of the centrality of powerful nation states
had helped order the Bush administration s outlook before the attacks, the new paradigms explicitly
accounted for the importance of non state actors and rogue regimes as the salient elements of
American foreign policy. In emphasizing rogue states, President George W. Bush focused on regime

Established as a Cold War era counterweight to Soviet power, NATO is characterized by its
commitment to democratic values and practices that, along with its unique, integrated military
structure, sustains it even at times when its members short term strategic calculations diverge.
(Hunter) In theory, then, the bonds between the United States and Europe should be close and
enduring. Indeed, the interests of the two entities have largely converged throughout NATO s half
century history despite occasional differences.
A rift has emerged in this alliance in the aftermath of the attacks of September11, 2002 that analysts
characterize as unprecedented in its scope, intensity, and, at times, pettiness. (Asmus) Immediately
after the attacks, Europe coalesced in support for the United States as sympathy for Americans
dominated public opinion. The goodwill evaporated quickly, however, when it became clear that the
United States planned to use the altered geopolitical landscape as one of the justifications for a
preemptive war to displace Saddam Hussein s dictatorial

Deliberate Authorial Choices By Shirley Jackson
Deliberate authorial choices become crucial in getting the readers attention in a said literary work.
Authors spend their whole career developing techniques to create a style that is their own. Shirley
Jackson shows the reader her talent in writing a pessimistic short story that she is most famous for.
Her famous short story The Lottery is one to keep the reader interested not only in the content but in
the way she presents it and the emotional toll that it has on the readers. The story follows a town
which partakes in a ritualistic lottery. Each household draws from a black box and whomever draws
the black circle wins. The family who wins draws again and the winner of the family gets stoned.
Jackson presents an pessimistic story which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first speech made by Mr. Graves betrays this sort of solitude that the long sentences produce. The
first line of any dialogue says Little late today, folks (1). This speech is short and abrupt and creates a
sense of uneasiness. These short sentences give the reader minimal information during the first
reading. Though not providing much information in the first reading, the reader, in their second
reading can deduce much meaning from these short sentences due to their knowledge of the ending.
Jackson throughout the story alters between long lulling sentences and the short abrupt sentences
creating a contrast in the mood that the reader has throughout their reading. The long sentences control
how the reader does not suspect anything. They contrive a light emotion up until a stone hit her
[Tessie] on the side of the head (5). This statement is blunt and raw and instantly derives shock and
disgust from the reader. It is through these key statements that Jackson creates a tone which derives
emotional responses to show the inhumane traditions that people follow. Along with syntax, diction is
a key component to the development of tone and ultimately theme. Jackson uses a mixture of informal
and formal language to hook the reader into her story. The informal language presents itself in the
dialogue within the story and the formal language presents itself through the descriptions of the story,
most of which are abstract. Though abstract, they have a very concrete

Today s Exhausted Superkids Analysis
In Frank Bruni s editorial, Today s Exhausted Superkids, he talks about the lack of sleep present in
many high school and college students. He attributes this loss in sleep to a variety of factors; although
he seems to place the blame mainly on education. He blames the stress of getting good grades on the
widespread lack of sleep. Throughout his article, Bruni used many studies and other writings to
support his points. My opinion on Bruni s editorial is that it was ineffective in getting the main point
across. I agree with many of the points that Mr. Bruni brought up, but I feel that the information he
used and the way he wrote the editorial were uneffective. He did use actual facts in some spots, though
I feel they were used at the wrong parts throughout the editorial. His main arguments were very
unorganized. The evidence used by Bruni in his editorial was not very effective at getting his point
across. Most of the evidence that he used throughout his paper were theories; theories are not always
true however. In his editorial, he placed a study about the lack of sleep present in high schools directly
above a study about the small amount of sleep that the average college student gets each night, making
the two different studies seem correlated. Throughout the course of the paper, Bruni ... Show more

including the slogan contest at the high school. When Bruni talked about the papers that other people

said. Bruni would also change the topic from the lack of sleep present in students to why sleep is
important for those students. I felt that he should have focused on one of those two subjects to write
about, instead of trying to talk about both. Trying to discuss both caused his ideas to appear

Slave Rebellions, By Nat Turner
Slavery resistance dates back to the earliest days of slavery. Although there were many forms, varying
in degree, including: working slowly, faking illness, burning down buildings, the most powerful form
was slave rebellions. Slave rebellions, put simply, are the armed uprising of slaves. Dating back as far
as the 1700s, there have been many slave rebellions, however only a few of these have been
considered successful. One of the most significant slave rebellions happened in 1831, and was called
Nat Turner s Rebellion. Nat Turner was born October 2nd, 1800 in Southampton County, Virginia. In
1810, Nat Turner became the property to Samuel Turner, after his brother, the man who enslaved him,
Benjamin Turner died. The two brothers allowed Nat to learn reading, writing, and to practice his
religion. As a young child, it was believed Nat Turner had special gifts because he was able to
describe events that had happened before he was born. According to his family members, Turner had a
great purpose in this world. As he learned more about his religion, the more he believed his mission
from God was to lead his people out of slavery. He was known to nearby slaves as The Prophet (Nat
Turner Biography). In 1821, Turner began having visions and hearing divine voices. After dealing
with visions of bloody conflicts between whites and blacks for ten years, in 1831 Turner took the sign
of a solar eclipse that the time to attack was soon (Nat Turner Biography). Turner gathered a group

Native Son Adaptation
In Richard Wright s novel, Native Son, the overall issue was with the main character, Bigger Thomas,
being accused of raping Mary. The film tells the story of the main character Bigger Thomas, a 20 year
old African American man who is growing up in poverty on the Southside of Chicago. Native Son
displays a series of events and decisions made by Bigger that will alter his life. The purpose of this
essay to examine Richard Wright s film adaptation of Native Son, and to argue that Bigger Thomas
proves to be guilty of murder due to being present with the victim, him covering up the crime, and his
history of violence. Wright s 1940 novel, Native Son had stirred up real controversy by shocking the
sensibilities of both black and white America. Wright was inspired to make his readers feel the reality
of race relations and that is how Native Son came about. Wright used his observances throughout the
previous decade to sculpt the inherent challenges faced by the main character, Bigger Thomas, a 20
year old African American in the South side of Chicago. In a time, when the Great Depression was
impacting the economy, the Dust Bowl was crossing the country, and an anti lynching bill failed to
pass in Congress, the context of history became an important facet of Wright s creation of the film
adaptation. Firstly, Bigger Thomas proves to be guilty because he was with Mary on the day she was
last seen by anyone. Mary, Mr. Dalton s daughter, frightens and angers Bigger by ignoring the social

An Analysis Of Jacob And Wilhelm Grimm s Version Of The...
Reading of Rumpelstiltskin
Do not abuse your power, do not lie, and above all else, do not be greedy. Like many within its genre,
Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm s version of the fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin, attempts to propagate strong
moral lessons towards a youthful demographic. Many years ago, this concept held true to me, in
which, with little contradiction, I was able to draw the three aforementioned conclusions from the
classic fable. Recently, however, upon revisitation of the text, certain elements within the Grimm
brother s tale evoked a strongly oppositional reading from me. Where I once accepted the author s
words with minimal hesitation, I now found myself strongly resenting the good character,
unexpectedly empathising with the once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alas, with the ability to spin straw into gold, the ring and necklace offered by the soon to be queen
were of little worth to Rumpelstiltskin from the very beginning, yet still, in her time of need, he
assisted her like a true gentleman. In fact, in exchange for his valuable services, he only ever asks for
something truly precious, her child, when she no longer faces the threat of death. Evil? I think not.
Rather, perhaps Rumpelstiltskin was simply lonely and in desire of the love and attention of a human
companion...And for this, he died?
As such, with this initial contradiction, I was prompted to re read the text once more with even greater
opposition, the seemingly pure and good willed Miller s daughter now falling into the path of my
oppositional frenzy.
She was, I noticed during my second reading now, in direct contradiction with my 21st century view
of women , acting as a shameful and outdated representation of females in general. Surely, rather than
simply contradicting her father at the beginning, or telling the king the truth later, she responds
submissively and fearfully to their actions and commands, as though she is incapable of anything
herself, relying on others (Rumpelstiltskin) instead to rectify her situation. This damsel in distress
representation although easily accepted in my innocence as a child is one that I found exceedingly
unpalatable now.
Furthermore, as I continued, I discovered something else that saw me

The Effects Of Instant Messaging While Reading A Passage
Bowman, Levine, Waite, and Gendron (2010) discuss their research on the effects of instant
messaging while reading a passage. This study contains all of the elements of a true experiment, and
their results conclude that it is more challenging to finish a passage efficiently while also focusing on
instant messaging (Bowman et al., 2010). Bowman et al. s (2010) article enhances a readers
understanding of the meaning of multitasking and affirms the assumption that multitasking is a
challenging feat and one that people should refrain from using to complete tasks. Taylor s (2011)

Taylor (2011) cited Nass s study, which also used college undergraduates as participants. These
researchers generalized their findings to the greater population even though the study was testing the
multitasking ability of college students doing a school related activity. Another similarity is Bowman
et al. (2010) discusses how multitasking uses different areas of the brain depending on the tasks that
are simultaneously being done. Taylor (2011) similarly describes the conditions in the brain that
process the different types of tasks that are being done successively as a result of attempting to
multitask. Additionally, Bowman et al. s (2010) research and Taylor s (2011) article discuss similar
effects of multitasking. For example, Bowman et al. and Taylor find that simultaneously switching
between tasks results in needing more time to complete it. These two similarities join the two articles
together in a way that they can both enhance the readers understanding of the true meaning and
implication of multitasking.
There are also a few differences that can be found between Taylor s (2011) article and Bowman s et al.
(2010) article. These difference include Bowman et al. s empirical study versus Taylor s informal
article, Taylor s lack of an experimental design, and Taylor s explanation of serial tasking. The first
major distinction is that Bowman et al. s article is an empirical study. It has all of the

Relationship Between Stress And Stress
Experiment Paper Introduction During Adolescence, teenagers and young adults begin to learn to cope
and emotionally self regulate. Now distanced between parents and home, adolescents are forced to
adapt to their new surroundings and psychologically adjust to the new environment. College, provides
a unique opportunity for adolescents to attain an education, and experience new social settings on their

variable, and that is stress. According to the studies and research by Andrew Baum stress is : an

My Sister s Keeper Research Paper
The Limits of Control in My Sister s Keeper
Ever thought of ruling the world? In order to accomplish that, the first step would be to gain control
over the whole human population. Control is to have power and influence a course of events or a
person (Merriam Webster). Humans seek a sense of control in their everyday lives. Without it, they
feel uncomfortable and powerless. Control can be seen in self actualization, esteem, belonging, safety,
and physiological needs. Almost all everyday activities are related to achieving the sense of control
(Changing Minds). Control has its limits, due to how much of a negative impact it can end up having.
There is such thing as too much control, which can be demonstrated through fear, the use of

have children that wouldn t be affected by it. It s been used since 1990 to prevent children from being

It is now being used to also create savior siblings , which are children who are able to donate bone
marrow and other tissues to their sick older siblings (Genetic and Society). This goes against many
religious views, one of them being Christian. Christians see it as playing God since God has created
humans in his own image and to alter them would be implying that he is wrong. Catholics and
Muslims both believe that embryonic research is the same as abortion and it is considered a sin for
scientists to perform genetic engineering since it is as if they are trying to replace God (HubPages).
This technology not only goes against many religious beliefs, but also goes against natural selection.
As seen in My Sister s Keeper, Anna is created through genetic selection and considered to be a
designer baby which are babies who have specifically selected traits (Picoult 119). This demonstrates
too much control because technology is now altering the way of life and it interferes with the natural
processes. Even today, control is not only seen in technology, but in families. The question is, to what
extent can a parent have control over their

Digital Artists And Animation And Visual Effects For...
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Multimedia artists and animators create animation
and visual effects for television, movies, video games, and other forms of media (BLS). When looking
at the different careers one could pursue, one should weigh the options before, or near the beginning
one s education, so one doesn t have to redo the entire thing. There are many types of animators, some
work in 2D, which is mostly drawing; other animators work in 3D, which is using a computer.
Animation is a good career choice if one has an understanding and love for art and working with
computers.
For applicants looking to pursue a career in animation, one should consider the specific skill sets and
education that is required. According to the United States Department of Labor, some of the education
that one needs is, a bachelor s degree in fine art, computer graphics, animation, or a related field (How
to become one). Furthermore, as stated by the United Kingdom s National Careers Service, some of
the skills needed in this career are, communication and presentation skills, drawing and modelling
skills, and IT skills (UK). According to Dr. Alan Cholodenko, drawing is acknowledged as the basis of
not only all art but of animation (Cholodenko). Some of the animation careers are heavily based on
drawing, however, they also use and need technology skills as well. As reported by the BLS, Many

Why The British Led The Industrial Revolution
Why the British Led the Industrial Revolution What led Great Britain to become the first country to
star in the Industrial Revolution, comes down to a complex system of factors, each aspect holds a
major role in the contribution in the growth in the Industrial Revolution and of Great Britain. While
much is known about the happenings of the Industrial Revolution itself, less is acknowledged about
the events that were direct causes of the period. Histories and economist have pointed towards several
key factors, each working together like well oiled machine. First, beginning with the agriculture
revolution which would increase the production of crops as well and decreasing prices. More food
meant more trade. Trade then lead to larger desire for goods and with the need of goods arose new
technology. Technology increased the production and efficiency of all factories. With the creation of
factories, workers were required to help produce and run machines. The prospect of new work drive
people to cities and towns. The Industrial Revolution was a cycle that feed itself, with need came
technology and with technology came need and through this process arose advanced society which
Great Britain led the world forward.
For any civilization to develop, it must not only be able to feed its people but also be affordable and
keep up with rising population. Without a stable source of food and or livestock no nation could
support an industrial evolution or even standard growth. For

Human Impact On The Platte River
Since the settlement of the American West, rivers have experienced changes in the natural flows and
movements. Among these processes flooding has become controlled as dams have been built.
Esselman et al. (2011) tracked numerous categories of anthropocentric activities through geographical
informational systems. The team found that upstream fish habitats were exponentially impacted by
human activities downstream. In addition to the upstream movement of impacts human impacts also
travel downstream. Different human impacts on the Yellowstone River versus the Platte River have
greatly affected the river ecosystems. One example humans have impacted aquatic ecosystems has
been through the introduction of invasive species. Invasive species are a ... Show more content on

The Internet Does Not Represent A Democratisation Of The...
The question that I considered writing about in my essay was The internet does not represent a
democratisation of the media because the online world mirrors the inequalities of the offline world .
The argument I am making is that the offline world does not mirror the inequalities of the online
world. The online world is a huge database that is used to engage emphasis of inequalities of the
offline world. This simply signifies discrimination as being notorious on the online world.
An example of this which I think is a big factor is internet equality, also known as Net Neutrality . Net
neutrality is the principle that all online traffic should be treated equally. If you are paying for a certain
speed of internet connection, you should be able to use that to its full potential all the time, regardless
of which website or service you are accessing. Right now you are paying one price for your internet
connection, companies do not have any right to dictate what you use that internet for as they can only
charge you for the internet itself, but if huge companies such as Time Warner Cable and Comcast had
their way, each month they would charge you extra to watch Netflix or use Facebook on top of many
already trying to impose bandwidth caps on how much data you can download every month. To put it
in to perspective similarly, it would be like a water company charging you extra because you decided
to use your water for coffee instead of the laundry. The reason why the example

Medical Maligence In Medical Malpractice Case
If you have been arrested for driving under the influence or DUI, then you re going to need a good
lawyer to represent you. A DUI is a serious offense these days and it s imperative that you hire a
lawyer to defend you as soon as possible. However, not all lawyers are created equal, and since
lawyers are people too, (although some may not think so) there are good lawyers and bad lawyers out
there. If you re searching the Internet for a lawyer, be very careful of sites that claim to be in

Allegiant Air Financial Statement
Allegiant Air has had a financial successful story for what people would expect in the low cost carrier
markets of today. Allegiant is in its 45th consecutively profitable quarter which is excellent when you
consider they were out of bankruptcy in 2001 which makes them continually profitable since 2003.
The company has used strategies that avoid barriers imposed by larger and more established carriers
by using strategies such as using regional airports instead of major airports, using terminals during off
peak times, investments in fuel to curve prices, and assets that are low cost to own and operate.
Revenue was just short of a billion and were up 10% from 2012 (Annual Report, 2014).
Allegiants largest expense as reported by their 2013 Annual Report is undoubtedly fuel, costing 41.6%
in 2012 and 38.7% in 2013 (Figure 1). Steps to circumvent fuel costs have included buying A319s
which reduced fuel burn from 950 gallons per hour on MD80s to 725 gallons per hour in addition to
establishing contractual agreements with Orlando Sanford International and affiliates and investments
in fuel storage and transportation facilities. The second largest cost is salaries and benefits at 14.7% of
operating costs in 2012 and increased to 15.9% in 2013. The current workforce consists of 2065 full

A Discussion On The Green Movement
This chapter starts with a discussion on the Green movement in Iran and then attempts to problematize
it empirically through a critical reasoning. In this research, a virtual public sphere in Iran is discussed.
Theoretically, the public sphere is the space in which citizens deliberate their common issues and
criticize the state without fear. Habermas definition of the public sphere reminds places such as salons,
coffee shops and teahouses rather than Internet based spheres. In this regard, post Habermasian
thinkers assert that all social media and technology based apparatuses can be studied as a new realm of
the public sphere. This approach goes beyond the basic description in which Habermas (1982) refers
to the 17th and 18th centuries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nowadays, social media provide a virtual public sphere in which people are able to talk and share
their comments and discuss different topics. The evidence demonstrates the virtual public sphere has
become a great arena of discussion for people in Iran, yet it should be declared that there is a long
term discussion whether or not cyberspaces media could be a positive way of doing politics. For
instance, Kranzberg (1985, p. 50) believes, Technology is neither good nor bad, nor is it neutral. At
any rate, despite many red lines and censorship that newspapers, news agencies and other official
media are faced; the new social media can publish the news, share the ideas and circulate different
topics. Having said that, this paper is aware of sophisticated filtering of social media in Iran, which
causes many limitations for citizens, however, people use VPN to circumvent this filtering and
distributing the news.
In this study, the basic definition of the public sphere by the German philosopher, Jürgen Habermas, is
expressed. Further, this text will discuss around some other scholars who either criticize or expand his
theory. The basic empirical research of this study showed that the Iranian virtual public sphere, some
topics are frequently discussed such as the organized corruption, the political prisoners, the Green
movement, the poverty, the unemployment, and

Rapid Critical Appraisal
Was it really rapid or was it more of a laborious process? In my opinion, the rapid critical appraisal
(RCA) process was not rapid. It was a process requiring considerable effort and time. Though tedious,
the RCA process helped me to stay focused, analyze in depth information about the studies, and select
most relevant articles that would be beneficial in answering the PICOT question and appropriate for
my evidence based practice(EBP) proposal. According to Melnyk Fineout Overholt (2015), RCA is
one of the key components to the evidence based practice process. It helps to evaluate the validity,
reliability, and applicability of a research article. Did reading the abstract help you make quick
decisions about including or excluding the study? Reading the abstract was absolutely a helpful
strategy in sifting through the articles. It helped me to make quick decisions about including or
excluding the study. Abstract is the reflection of the article as it provides an idea about what to expect
in a research article. It provides an overall summary of the components of the article and outlines the

The Sociology Of Tourism
Sociology can be defined as being Concerned with explaining or understanding social behaviour,
particularly of groups or classes of people (Veal, 2006, p.22)
The sociology of tourism is an emergent specialty concerned with the study of touristic motivations,
roles, relationships, and institutions and of their impact on tourists and on the societies who receive
them. (Cohen, 1984).
There are many different elements of tourism on which sociology can shed some light such as the
individual, gender, class, development and social change.
Sociology of Tourism is the study of human social behaviour, especially the study of the origins,
organisation, institutions, and development of human society as it pertains to tourism. The scientific

Urry distinguished two principal varieties of the tourist gaze, the romantic and the collective , to
which he and others on the mutual gaze and later added several more.
The conceptual and theoretical developments in the field, beyond the discourses of authenticity and
the tourist gaze, are closely related to a broader meta theoretical re orientation in contemporary
sociology, which in turn mirrors some of the extensive late modern social trends.
The Principal Issue Areas in the Sociology of Tourism
Sociological research on tourism falls naturally into four principal issues areas: the tourist, relations
between tourists and locals, the structure and functioning of the tourist system, and the consequences
of tourism. (Cohen, 1994)
Tourism in a free market economy can exploit natural resources as a means of a profit accumulation,
and therefore has been described as the commercialisation of the human need to travel. The notion of
unlimited gain has led to exploitation of host communities, their cultures, and environments. (Walker,

Movies During The Great Depression
Movies, we ve all seen them, but during the depression these movies were so important to the daily
life of those people. During the depression, movies were just getting pioneered and some classics
emerged, such as The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind. These movies along with many others
meant so much to the people of the depression era because of what they really were. For the most part,
people didn t have the best living qualities during this era, hence the name The Great Depression, and
movies were some of the best ways to escape their terrible lives. Movies have a way of taking you

people in the shoes of others, but this movie and other movies like it took you on a real adventure
away from your life. People could sit and just imagine they were in a different world for the 2 hour
runtime of the movie. This movie not only took people away from their life, but did it better than

Early research efforts in the area of access control and confidentiality for DBMSs focused on the
development of two different classes of models, based on the unrestricted access control policy and on

relational database systems. The relational data model, being a declarative and high level model for

features, such as negative authorization, role based and task based authorization temporal
authorization, and context aware authorization. This weakness makes unrestricted access controls
vulnerable to malicious attacks, such as Trojan horses embedded in application programs. A Trojan
horse is a program with an apparent or actually very useful function, which contains some hidden
functions exploiting the genuine authorizations of the invoking process. Sophisticated Trojan horses
may leak information by means of covert channels, enabling unauthorized access to data. A covert
channel is a component or feature of the system that is misused to encode or represent information for
illegal transmission, without breaching the stated access control policy. A large variety of components
or features can be misused to create covert channels, including the system clock, operating system
inter process communication primitives, error messages, the existence of specific file names, the
concurrency control mechanism, and so on. The area of compulsory access control and multilevel
database systems tried to address such problems through the development of access control models
based on information classification, some of which were also incorporated in commercial products.

  • 3. Going the Speedlimit Essay Going the Speedlimit There are many approaches that we humans use to weasel out of a speeding ticket. This is not an easy task, but it has been mastered by a select few. The very reasonable way of just not speeding is used quite often. The method of lying is frequently used. This is sometimes effective and usually safe. The flirtatious approach (which usually is used only by females) is tried numerous times on male officers. Finally, there is the method of outrunning the cops . This method quite often ends in arrest. Not speeding is probably the best bet of not getting a ticket. If you aren t speeding then you have removed yourself from the situation of ever getting a ticket. Although this is the most intelligent and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lying out of a ticket is a very commonly used approach. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they fail miserably. A few examples of the commonly used lies are: but officer, I was running really late for work today , and I m sorry officer, there is a family emergency , and we can t forget the often used but officer, I didn t realize I was speeding, my speedometer must be off . People have tried to pull off countless other lies on policemen. The list goes on. The flirtatious method is one of great skill that has been perfected by females across the country. When an officer pulls over a female, the female will do one or two things. She will either put her lips, bat her eyes, and turn on the charm (usually done by women who think of themselves as somewhat attractive), or cry (usually done by women who find it easy to make themselves to look innocent). Both of these methods are highly recommendable (speaking from personal experience). Last but not least, there is the outrunning the cops method. I would not recommend this to anyone who has a vehicle with a 4 cylinder. More than likely if this method is used, the person getting pulled over is either intoxicated or just stupid. Many who try this wind up being arrested which is something most of us try to avoid. Not only will this get you a speeding ticket; you will receive two more for driving while intoxicated and failing to yield to a police officer. If this were to happen, you probably wouldn t ... • 4. The Challenges Of Buying Healthy Food After we spitted our tasks separated into 2 groups we quickly get an Uber in order to get to our destination without wasting any time. During the interview process, the most surprising thing (moments) about it was the amount of people participating. After me and my teammates spent about 5 minutes standing in front of Safeway we approach one of the costumer walking out from Safeway s exist, she was carrying 2 groceries bags, so almost immediately we walked up to her in order to ask her a simple questions that we had prepared. The funniest yet saddest respond back was Sorry, I really don t have time to stop and the bags are very heavy. The lady slowly walked away from us, after we got rejected we immediately changed us way to approach people. Instead of asking the people walking in and out with 2 3 long questions, we switch to short and simple questions; for example what are the challenges from buying healthy food? or What is stopping you from buying or eating healthy food and products? etc. While we conducting the interview, we realized that the shorter the simpler the questions, the more effective the interview. When we start interviewing people with long questions, lots of people tented to hesitate on answering, some even walk away after the first question. After we change our strategy and questions into shorter and simpler, people turn out to be more interested in answering and more collaborative, especially when we helped narrow the answer choices into yes or ... • 5. Mending the Transatlantic Rift Essay Mending the Transatlantic Rift The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 ushered in an era of dramatic change for foreign policy and the international system. Most obviously, the United States sense of invulnerability eroded as an acute awareness to the perils of terrorism gripped the American public. In American foreign policy, the dominant paradigms evolved. Whereas the Cold War notion of the centrality of powerful nation states had helped order the Bush administration s outlook before the attacks, the new paradigms explicitly accounted for the importance of non state actors and rogue regimes as the salient elements of American foreign policy. In emphasizing rogue states, President George W. Bush focused on regime change in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Established as a Cold War era counterweight to Soviet power, NATO is characterized by its commitment to democratic values and practices that, along with its unique, integrated military structure, sustains it even at times when its members short term strategic calculations diverge. (Hunter) In theory, then, the bonds between the United States and Europe should be close and enduring. Indeed, the interests of the two entities have largely converged throughout NATO s half century history despite occasional differences. A rift has emerged in this alliance in the aftermath of the attacks of September11, 2002 that analysts characterize as unprecedented in its scope, intensity, and, at times, pettiness. (Asmus) Immediately after the attacks, Europe coalesced in support for the United States as sympathy for Americans dominated public opinion. The goodwill evaporated quickly, however, when it became clear that the United States planned to use the altered geopolitical landscape as one of the justifications for a preemptive war to displace Saddam Hussein s dictatorial ... • 6. Deliberate Authorial Choices By Shirley Jackson Deliberate authorial choices become crucial in getting the readers attention in a said literary work. Authors spend their whole career developing techniques to create a style that is their own. Shirley Jackson shows the reader her talent in writing a pessimistic short story that she is most famous for. Her famous short story The Lottery is one to keep the reader interested not only in the content but in the way she presents it and the emotional toll that it has on the readers. The story follows a town which partakes in a ritualistic lottery. Each household draws from a black box and whomever draws the black circle wins. The family who wins draws again and the winner of the family gets stoned. Jackson presents an pessimistic story which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first speech made by Mr. Graves betrays this sort of solitude that the long sentences produce. The first line of any dialogue says Little late today, folks (1). This speech is short and abrupt and creates a sense of uneasiness. These short sentences give the reader minimal information during the first reading. Though not providing much information in the first reading, the reader, in their second reading can deduce much meaning from these short sentences due to their knowledge of the ending. Jackson throughout the story alters between long lulling sentences and the short abrupt sentences creating a contrast in the mood that the reader has throughout their reading. The long sentences control how the reader does not suspect anything. They contrive a light emotion up until a stone hit her [Tessie] on the side of the head (5). This statement is blunt and raw and instantly derives shock and disgust from the reader. It is through these key statements that Jackson creates a tone which derives emotional responses to show the inhumane traditions that people follow. Along with syntax, diction is a key component to the development of tone and ultimately theme. Jackson uses a mixture of informal and formal language to hook the reader into her story. The informal language presents itself in the dialogue within the story and the formal language presents itself through the descriptions of the story, most of which are abstract. Though abstract, they have a very concrete ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Today s Exhausted Superkids Analysis In Frank Bruni s editorial, Today s Exhausted Superkids, he talks about the lack of sleep present in many high school and college students. He attributes this loss in sleep to a variety of factors; although he seems to place the blame mainly on education. He blames the stress of getting good grades on the widespread lack of sleep. Throughout his article, Bruni used many studies and other writings to support his points. My opinion on Bruni s editorial is that it was ineffective in getting the main point across. I agree with many of the points that Mr. Bruni brought up, but I feel that the information he used and the way he wrote the editorial were uneffective. He did use actual facts in some spots, though I feel they were used at the wrong parts throughout the editorial. His main arguments were very unorganized. The evidence used by Bruni in his editorial was not very effective at getting his point across. Most of the evidence that he used throughout his paper were theories; theories are not always true however. In his editorial, he placed a study about the lack of sleep present in high schools directly above a study about the small amount of sleep that the average college student gets each night, making the two different studies seem correlated. Throughout the course of the paper, Bruni ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While discussing the studies done in the Silicon Valley, he brought up unrelated topics; topics including the slogan contest at the high school. When Bruni talked about the papers that other people wrote, he would discuss what they wrote, jump to an unrelated topic, then return to what the person said. Bruni would also change the topic from the lack of sleep present in students to why sleep is important for those students. I felt that he should have focused on one of those two subjects to write about, instead of trying to talk about both. Trying to discuss both caused his ideas to appear ... • 8. Slave Rebellions, By Nat Turner Slavery resistance dates back to the earliest days of slavery. Although there were many forms, varying in degree, including: working slowly, faking illness, burning down buildings, the most powerful form was slave rebellions. Slave rebellions, put simply, are the armed uprising of slaves. Dating back as far as the 1700s, there have been many slave rebellions, however only a few of these have been considered successful. One of the most significant slave rebellions happened in 1831, and was called Nat Turner s Rebellion. Nat Turner was born October 2nd, 1800 in Southampton County, Virginia. In 1810, Nat Turner became the property to Samuel Turner, after his brother, the man who enslaved him, Benjamin Turner died. The two brothers allowed Nat to learn reading, writing, and to practice his religion. As a young child, it was believed Nat Turner had special gifts because he was able to describe events that had happened before he was born. According to his family members, Turner had a great purpose in this world. As he learned more about his religion, the more he believed his mission from God was to lead his people out of slavery. He was known to nearby slaves as The Prophet (Nat Turner Biography). In 1821, Turner began having visions and hearing divine voices. After dealing with visions of bloody conflicts between whites and blacks for ten years, in 1831 Turner took the sign of a solar eclipse that the time to attack was soon (Nat Turner Biography). Turner gathered a group ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Native Son Adaptation In Richard Wright s novel, Native Son, the overall issue was with the main character, Bigger Thomas, being accused of raping Mary. The film tells the story of the main character Bigger Thomas, a 20 year old African American man who is growing up in poverty on the Southside of Chicago. Native Son displays a series of events and decisions made by Bigger that will alter his life. The purpose of this essay to examine Richard Wright s film adaptation of Native Son, and to argue that Bigger Thomas proves to be guilty of murder due to being present with the victim, him covering up the crime, and his history of violence. Wright s 1940 novel, Native Son had stirred up real controversy by shocking the sensibilities of both black and white America. Wright was inspired to make his readers feel the reality of race relations and that is how Native Son came about. Wright used his observances throughout the previous decade to sculpt the inherent challenges faced by the main character, Bigger Thomas, a 20 year old African American in the South side of Chicago. In a time, when the Great Depression was impacting the economy, the Dust Bowl was crossing the country, and an anti lynching bill failed to pass in Congress, the context of history became an important facet of Wright s creation of the film adaptation. Like many within its genre, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm s version of the fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin, attempts to propagate strong moral lessons towards a youthful demographic. Many years ago, this concept held true to me, in which, with little contradiction, I was able to draw the three aforementioned conclusions from the classic fable. Recently, however, upon revisitation of the text, certain elements within the Grimm brother s tale evoked a strongly oppositional reading from me. Alas, with the ability to spin straw into gold, the ring and necklace offered by the soon to be queen were of little worth to Rumpelstiltskin from the very beginning, yet still, in her time of need, he assisted her like a true gentleman. In fact, in exchange for his valuable services, he only ever asks for something truly precious, her child, when she no longer faces the threat of death. Evil? I think not. Rather, perhaps Rumpelstiltskin was simply lonely and in desire of the love and attention of a human companion...And for this, he died? As such, with this initial contradiction, I was prompted to re read the text once more with even greater opposition, the seemingly pure and good willed Miller s daughter now falling into the path of my oppositional frenzy. She was, I noticed during my second reading now, in direct contradiction with my 21st century view of women , acting as a shameful and outdated representation of females in general. Surely, rather than simply contradicting her father at the beginning, or telling the king the truth later, she responds submissively and fearfully to their actions and commands, as though she is incapable of anything herself, relying on others (Rumpelstiltskin) instead to rectify her situation. This damsel in distress representation although easily accepted in my innocence as a child is one that I found exceedingly unpalatable now. In order to accomplish that, the first step would be to gain control over the whole human population. Control is to have power and influence a course of events or a person (Merriam Webster). Humans seek a sense of control in their everyday lives. Without it, they feel uncomfortable and powerless. Control can be seen in self actualization, esteem, belonging, safety, and physiological needs. Almost all everyday activities are related to achieving the sense of control (Changing Minds). Why The British Led The Industrial Revolution Why the British Led the Industrial Revolution What led Great Britain to become the first country to star in the Industrial Revolution, comes down to a complex system of factors, each aspect holds a major role in the contribution in the growth in the Industrial Revolution and of Great Britain. While much is known about the happenings of the Industrial Revolution itself, less is acknowledged about the events that were direct causes of the period. Histories and economist have pointed towards several key factors, each working together like well oiled machine. First, beginning with the agriculture revolution which would increase the production of crops as well and decreasing prices. More food meant more trade. Trade then lead to larger desire for goods and with the need of goods arose new technology. Technology increased the production and efficiency of all factories. With the creation of factories, workers were required to help produce and run machines. The prospect of new work drive people to cities and towns. The Industrial Revolution was a cycle that feed itself, with need came technology and with technology came need and through this process arose advanced society which Great Britain led the world forward. The question that I considered writing about in my essay was The internet does not represent a democratisation of the media because the online world mirrors the inequalities of the offline world . The argument I am making is that the offline world does not mirror the inequalities of the online world. The online world is a huge database that is used to engage emphasis of inequalities of the offline world. This simply signifies discrimination as being notorious on the online world. An example of this which I think is a big factor is internet equality, also known as Net Neutrality . Net neutrality is the principle that all online traffic should be treated equally. If you are paying for a certain speed of internet connection, you should be able to use that to its full potential all the time, regardless of which website or service you are accessing. Right now you are paying one price for your internet connection, companies do not have any right to dictate what you use that internet for as they can only charge you for the internet itself, but if huge companies such as Time Warner Cable and Comcast had their way, each month they would charge you extra to watch Netflix or use Facebook on top of many already trying to impose bandwidth caps on how much data you can download every month.
