The Flight Simulator-Personal Narrative
Hard right! shouted my brother. Immediately, I threw the flight simulator into a massive right turn,
hoping to line up for a shot at an enemy. Unfortunately for us, it was a little too massive, and we
swung to the side, facing the wrong way. I wrestled the controls, and finally stabilized on target. Nice
shot, I said, as my brother shot down the fighter we were tailing. We flew forward, and I glanced at the
radar. I turned to face the nearest enemy on the radar. However, I had pulled too hard on the turn, and
went spinning out of control. The plane did a barrel roll as I fought my way to stability. The
unfortunate incident aside, I was in a better place than before. I adjusted slightly and got the angle
close enough that my brother was

Smart Phone Addiction
2.2 Evidence In extreme cases, the dependence on smart phones may cause a series of problems such
as social anxiety and car accidents. Researchers and clinical psychologist Lisa Merlo said she
observed many problematic behaviors among smart phone users, including disgusting social
interaction in real life and a general lack of external environment and the environment understanding

of smart phones may cause human beings suffering the presence of pain. Those who often look at their
smart phones for stimulating and satisfying people may eventually lose their skills in face to face
interaction. Other studies have found that smart phone users are showing signs of excitement and
boredom when they are separated from their mobile phones. New findings even show that technology
addiction is as serious as material abuse. While these consequences may not pose a threat to our
health, these actions will certainly steal people s time and energy and have little to payback. According
to the British Chiropractic Association, the obsession with smart phones has picked up the number of
young people, because tilting the time on the phone screen will make the inter vertebral disc pressure.
Since their life is dependent on smart phones, 45% of young people aged 15 to 25 suffer from back

Our company has had to operate informally because we had to act together to get the project done as a
common interest. Informal communication channels are ones that develop outside the formal structure
and do not follow the chain of command. They skip management levels and cut across lines of
authority. In our case, there was no authority, so we naturally cut across those lines. One type of
informal communication our company needs to watch out for is the grapevine. The grapevine is the
unofficial communication system of the informal organization. The is a network of gossip and rumors
that are called employee language. Our company shouldn t have any issues with the grapevine.
Another is management by wandering around. This is the term used to describe someone within the
company literally walking around and talking with people across all line of authority. This helps to
reduce the problems of distortion and inevitably occur with formal communication. In this sense, our
company does utilize management by walking around in a figurative

Abner Snopes Conjectivity In William Faulkner s Barn Burning
In William Faulkner s, Barn Burning Abner Snopes actions of subjectivity preserved any intention of
individuality to be tested. It s through Snopes arsonist ways that malice an evil that conflicts Satyr.
Snopes obligation to burn barns set the belief for his family that he is justice. Nevertheless, carries on
the battle to only entice the nature of Abner s behavior to invoke the worth of his own son.

continuous inhibition of individuality (Faulkner 766). An inhibition in which he, Satyr, begins to
question the justice and loyalty Abner speaks of. Satyr respects his father, but is characterized through
his father s eyes to be the rebellion against his own blood. However, Rosenman distinguish Satyr s

Percy Shelley Research Paper
Percy Shelley has always been an individualist, taking the controversial aspect of topics and sticking
to his beliefs; whether or not he got worshipped or abhorred did not matter or affect his opinion (
Percy Bysshe Shelley ). Throughout his life span of the late 1700s and early 1800s, he managed to fill
his mind with his own thoughts and did not let anything block him from pursuing his passion in
writing. Percy Bysshe Shelley expressed his individualism and realness in his works through a unique
style of writing shown in Ozymandias and To a Skylark ; although he learned and grew from his
criticisms, he was heavily influenced by his childhood, personal beliefs, and views and experiences of

Cuba Human Geography
Cuba has been the source of controversy for decades. Between events such as the Bay of Pigs invasion
and the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960s and the country s ongoing Communist dictatorship, this
island nation has not always been thought of as an appealing place to visit. However, Cuba s physical
and human geography, especially when coupled with the lifting of the US embargo, give it the
potential to be a prime tourism destination. Cuba first gained importance in the 1560s, when the
Spanish built Havana as a center to keep and build navy ships. During the 1700s, it primarily profited
from sugar plantations, though it also made money from cattle farming, tobacco, and coffee. Cuba
primarily exported the sugar it produced to Spain, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although only certain Americans will be able to visit Cuba at first, there is the potential to allow free
travel between the two countries in the future (Marsh, 2016). Because Americans make up over half of
all Caribbean tourist arrivals, they would likely add Cuba to their itineraries when visiting the region.
Another potential sector for development is ferry service from Florida to Cuba. These ferries would
easily allow Floridians to make quick weekend trips to the Caribbean, and even bring their car by
using one of the larger drive on ferries (Padilla McElroy, 2007, p. 650). In addition to ferries, Havana
could become a port of call for the hundreds of cruise ships that sail through the Caribbean each week.
Although the Port of Havana is currently only suitable for smaller ships with a maximum length of
755 feet, the government is sure to realize the huge potential economic benefit from cruise ships and
construct larger areas for them to dock (Port of Havana). Another way Americans will be able to visit
Cuba in the future is by plane. Currently, the United States Department of Transportation is reviewing
bids submitted by airlines in February for various routes between the United States and Cuba. Flights
are expected to be rewarded to airlines over the summer and to begin around October. Competition
between airlines is likely to result in flights

Personal Finance Syllabus
Should all high schoolers take courses in personal finance?
#19, By: Creedance
ARTICLE 1: Yes, Education system overhaul should include a new emphasis on financial literacy.
This article was all for making personal finance instruction a top concern. It was all about how many
high schools are failing badly when it comes to teaching students about how to manage money and
only 17 states require high school students to take courses in personal finance. Nan J. Morrison
believes that for kids to be successful, they don t need to learn advanced ideas. However she believes,
students do need to know how to open a bank account and how much they need to save each month to
reach their goals, she said. They also should know how much money they will need to earn to pay
back the money they borrow. She believes that for kids to enter adulthood ready and prepared they
should have to take personal finance making them aware of how to open a bank account and many
other things you need to know to be a successful adult.

A Summary OfIt Always Costs By David Suzuki Summary
ugh Draft 3 David Suzuki s essay, It Always Costs argues that technology is always accompanied my
negative repercussions. Suzuki clearly emphasizes the negative effects that technology presents by
objectifying the damaging nature of scientific innovation. Throughout his essay, Suzuki supports his
arguments with specific examples. To justify his reasoning, the author uses the case of DDT, otherwise
known as dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane. This chemical compound is used as an insecticide to
eliminate the population of malaria carrying mosquitoes, which it did effectively, and saved millions
of lives. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, complications arose, which led to an
increase in chemicals and caused a domino effect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientific innovations have caused numerous side effects, which Suzuki explains throughout his essay,
but when he links his ideas to examples, such as biomagnification, he reinforces himself. Every piece
of evidence Suzuki presents is always explained effectively, he will explain why the example proves
his point without loosing sight of his end argument. The arguments are all very well thought out and
relevant to his essay. Continually, David Suzuki always supports his propositions with authentic proof
to relay his stance on technology. David Suzuki supports his argument with specific examples and he
rationalises each one; however, he overlooks the important detail that technology is beneficial to our
society. Throughout the essay the author repeatedly mentions the negative effects technology has, but
he never provides an argument for the advantages of new innovations. Although technology may have
its faults, we depend on it as a society. As Suzuki states in his essay, Once technology is in place, it
becomes impossible to do without it and we can t go back to doing things the old way . Without a
constant cycle of new innovations and technology, as a society we would digress. Everyday we
depend on technology, it is an imperative factor to surviving. The numerous benefits of technology are
endless: improved environmental understandings, cancer research and cures, as well as a better
economy. Since there are no explicit references to the advantages,

Victimization Of The Female Dancer In Battle Royal
Victimization of the Female Dancer in Battle Royal
In Ralph Ellison s Battle Royal , two different victims of the prominent white men are portrayed: the
greater known victim of the African American boys and the lesser female dancer. Both of these victim
groups are relevant to the story, however one gets more recognition than the other. In the story, Ellison
identifies racism and bigotry exerted by the white men onto the African American boys in a fist fight
and electric rug scene. Before the physical torture of the boys, Ellison brings attention to the sexism
and degrading actions toward a naked female dancer. The evils endured by the boys and the dancer are
equally bad in their own right, although the female dancer s are subdued. The female dancer endured
the derogatory ideas of the men, their forcefulness, and their different emotional traumas.
The female dancer first falls victim to the prominent white men and the African American boys in the
derogatory ideas and thoughts they are having. Before the physical actions of the men, the dancer was
already a victim by their degrading thoughts and lustful feelings. The men looked at her like she was a
circus kewpie doll , already likening her to a toy for their amusement making her nonhuman to them
(270). By likening her to a kewpie doll, they could rationalize their animalistic thoughts, making their
feelings seems appropriate. By viewing her as inanimate, they allow themselves to continue their lewd
thoughts about her

Conduct Forcible Entry Operations During The Korean War Essay
The current amphibious concepts and capabilities of the US ensure that we are better prepared to
conduct forcible entry operations than we were during the landing at Inchon, and subsequent liberation
of Seoul. Amphibious concepts, such as seabasing, amphibious command and control (C2), and the
Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) allow forces to project power across domains. Proof of concept
exercises like Bold Alligator continue to refine our amphibious capability to provide flexible, scalable,
responsive forces that can conduct a multitude of missions. Inchon, during the Korean War, highlights
the benefit of maneuver warfare and joint operations. However, security operations, intelligence, and
speed were deficient during Operation CHROMITE. World War II demonstrated a lack of
preparedness to conduct amphibious operations in the Pacific by the US and Great Britain. The Pacific
Campaign and Inchon prove the need to maintain a professional amphibious force and the importance
of concepts like seabasing, C2, and the ESG in amphibious operations. Applying the concepts of
seabasing, C2, and the ESG in joint exercises with platforms such as Maritime Prepositioning Force,
multipurpose amphibious assault ships (LHD), Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), AV 8B
Vertical/Short Take Off and Landing (VSTOL) jets, and MV 22 tilt rotor aircraft ensure that we are
better prepared to conduct forcible entry operations than we were during the landing at Inchon, and
subsequent liberation of Seoul.

Figure 4 shows the flow graph of our proposed work. Our proposed work is roughly divided into three
parts. Mergable flip flops identification, creating a combination table; and Merge flip flops. In first
stage, we have to identify the flip flops which are supposed to be combined. In second stage, a
combination table can be formed, library is created it contains all combinations of merged multi bit
flip flops. In third step, all suitable merged flip flops are merged with help of library
3.1 Identification of mergable flip flops
The mergable flip flops are share the common clock buffer and capable of decreasing the power
consumption. The single bit flip flops and multi bit flip flops are having same clock, set and reset
conditions. For a example a 2 bit multi bit flip flop formation it needs two single bit storage are
required. The single bit flip flops are first identified as which are nearer to each other then only
merging is possible. So identification of mergable flip flops are important and distance we have to
consider.

Genetic Discrimination In Australia
only lead to discrimination with insurance coverage but also with employers. Once the genetic
information is part of the individual s medical record, it may then be accessed by others. Cases of
employers having used genetic information as part of the selection process have been found in
Australia. Genetic discrimination has even been detected in the armed forces where a young man was
asked to provide documentation that showed he was not predisposed to Marfan syndrome, of which he
had a family history. Genetic discrimination is probably the biggest concern for individuals when it
comes to the cause and effects of genetic testing upon society. Some of this concern roots from the
extreme examples of world leaders and prevalent scientists in the ... Show more content on

If the genetic information is only accessible to the individual then there is a decreased chance of such
discrimination occurring because the information is disclosed to who the individual wishes to. Genetic
information can raise questions about personal responsibility, personal choice versus genetic
determinism, and concepts of health and disease. Personal factors, family values, and community and
cultural beliefs can mould the reactions to these issues. For example the response to the genetic
information and suggestion from physicians after the test will be drastically different in a society
where traditions and religion determine life choices, such as India, than to a more individually liberal
society like the USA. Even in a progressive society that has had specific ethnic groups for multiple
generations disparities with medical technology are common. A study conducted, using the national
representative data, in the USA with the sample that consisted of 1724 men and women of non
Hispanic whites, Latinos, and African American background. Results exposed significant differences
by racial/ethnic groups in knowledge and concerns about the potential misuse of genetic testing.
Significantly higher levels of mistrust in a physician and the medical system was a common thread
within minorities. The genetic tests can be a way of ridding anxiety attached to the assumed
inheritance of genetic disease due to family background whilst for others the genetic test reveals their
reality. The results can have a great deal of a psychological impact upon the individual. The possibility
of developing a genetic disease alone can create anxiety within some. The psychological impact from
the results revealed is another issue that society is concerned about. A

Enzymes are biological catalysts that speed up chemical reactions, without being used up or changed.
Catalase is a globular protein molecule that is found in all living cells. A globular protein is a protein
with its molecules curled up into a ball shape. All enzymes have an active site. This is where another
molecule(s) can bind with the enzyme. This molecule is known as the substrate. When the substrate
binds with the enzyme, a product is produced. Enzymes are specific to their substrate, because the
shape of their active site will only fit the shape of their substrate. It is said that the substrate is
complimentary to their substrate.
When the substrate binds with the enzyme, it forms an enzyme substrate complex. The ... Show more

However, temperature difference can affect the experiment. To prevent this, I will conduct the
experiment at the same time of day if more than one day is needed. This is because it is generally
colder in the mornings and evening than the afternoon.
Also, I will hold the test tube by the tip. If I were to grab the test tube with my whole hand, my body
heat would be passed onto the test tube causing a temperature increase. Therefore, not creating a
reliable set of results.
pH Enzymes also have an optimum pH level. The pH of a solution affects the enzyme s secondary and
tertiary structures. These bonds make the shape of an enzyme s active site. So, if these bonds are
broken, the shape of the active site changes and is distorted. If there is no active site, there is no
reaction resulting in no products. If the enzyme is put in a pH that is very different from the optimum
pH, it can cause the enzyme to denature.
Most enzymes have an optimum pH of around 7, which is fairly neutral. To ensure the experiment is a
fair test, I will use the same pH of hydrogen peroxide in every test.
Inhibitors As mentioned earlier, enzymes have an active site specific to the substrate molecules.
However, it is possible for other molecules similar to enzyme s substrate to bind with the enzyme s
active site and therefore, inhibit the enzyme s task.
When the inhibitor binds with the enzyme s active site for a short space of time it is known as
competitive inhibition because it is

Accountability of Sensitive Items Essay
This essay will be about the importance of keeping the accountability of sensitive items and how the
accountability of sensitive items affects the unit. AR 710 2 and AR 735 5 both cover the Army policy
for property accountability. Some sensitive items are your weapon, military ID card, communication
equipment, etcetera. Sensitive items are anything that can be used by opposing forces or the enemy to
counter attack, weaken forces, and gain information, and so on. People will sometimes get relaxed or
forgettable while not in a combat zone or operation area. If this happens it is very dangerous due to the
fact that enemies are able to obtain any and possibly all of your sensitive items to gather information
or harm you and your unit and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this were to happen it could jeopardize the lives of our unit and other units as well.
Another sensitive item would be NVG s or Night Vision Goggles. If you misplace or lose your Night
Vision Goggles then you will not be able to see what is going on around you during the night. It could
also aid the enemy in having the same advantages as you would have at night. This could potentially
harm you or your unit.
Maps and map overlays are also sensitive items because if the enemy were to acquire our map
overlays then they would have knowledge of our battle positions, observation points, where the unit is
located, ammunition points and supplies in general. This could harm you or your unit because the
enemy would know your entire battle plan.
All of these items are important to you and your unit because without them you and your unit are not
fully mission capable and able to carry out the tasks given to you by your chain of command. If you
lose one of your sensitive items it can harm your unit and keep you from completing your mission
properly or at all. It could also prolong your mission until you are able to find what has been
misplaced. It could also put you and your unit in harm s way due to the fact that they would be
looking for the misplaced item and not paying attention to their surroundings.

Ethos In Schooled
In 2013, a new documentary called Schooled: the price of college sports came to Netflix. The
documentary contains research and interviews with many important people in the world today. As a
mainly one sided documentary, all the interviewees argue the answer to the question Is it permissible
to run a league with athletes that don t get payed? The documentary uses ethos, pathos and logos in
order to persuade the viewers that NCAA athletes should not be considered amateurs and should also
be payed. The definition of amateur is one who engages in an art, science, study or athletic activity as
a past time rather than as a profession. The word amateur, and it s meaning is one of many ways the
documentary uses ethos in this documentary. Each year, the NCAA generates billions of dollars

The corruption expressed throughout the hour long documentary is endless examples of ethos which is
the majority used in the documentary. Corruption in the NCAA is not only a current issue but has
existed dating back to the 1940 s. In the 1940 s and 1950 s ivy league schools used to secretly pay
players in order to attract top talent in the country. After more and more illegal salaries came into play,
the scholarship was invented in order to stop the corrupt system and give the players more of a reward.
The NCAA is technically a nonprofit organization, however generated billions of dollars each year,
needless to say that it is and has always been a business. Many factors come into play on how the
NCAA became what it is today such as the introduction of televising games live in the 1940 s and
Nike getting involved in the 1980 s buying their way into the NCAA and paying coaches to put their
teams in Nike gear. All of this is not close to the amount of revenue generated specifically off of the

Analysis Of Edgar Allan Poe s The Imp Of The Perverse

The Imp of the Perverse American writer and critique Edgar Allan Poe is very well known for his
gothic tales of mystery, suspense, and horror. While his impressive collection of work carry thrilling
themes of fear, death, and tragedy, Poe s work goes beyond the purpose of literary entertainment and
revealing his own inner demons. His writing may be heavily influenced by his own dark and tragic
experiences and losses, but it also reveals unique characteristics of the disturbing nature of all people
in general. One of these characteristics is explained in his short murderous tale The Imp of the
Perverse. This tale explains how a significant part of human nature is driven by ... Show more content

In the consideration of the faculties and impulses of the prima mobilia of the human soul, the
phrenologists have failed to make room for a propensity which, although obviously existing as a
radical, primitive, irreducible sentiment, has been equally overlooked by all the moralists who have
preceded them (____) The narrator explains how this is a failure which leaves room for error, and
believes that root of impulsive behavior leading people to experience perversion for example is prima
mobilia, which is in fact a part of the soul. He defines perversion as the impulse of doing something
counterintuitive to to self help. Overall the idea of acting on impulse was not being studied and
ignored. The narrator feels strongly that people should study and understand all sides of man, and

What Is The Charlottetown Conference
The Charlottetown Conference was held in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island for representatives
from the colonies of British North America to discuss Canadian Confederation. The conference took
place between September 1 through 7, 1864. The conference had been planned as a meeting of
representatives from the Maritime colonies: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
Newfoundland agreed with the movement, but was not notified in time to take part in the proceedings.
[1] Britain encouraged a Maritime Union between these colonies, hoping that they would then become
less economically and politically dependent on the Crown, and provide for greater economic and
military power for the region in light of the American Civil War. However,

Uncertainty Reduction Theory Essay
The Uncertainty Reduction Theory states that before and during initial interactions between two
people, one s first instinct is to reduce uncertainty about the other through various methods. For
example, when you see someone you think you would like to know, you try and figure out what they
are like through various methods so you can control the conversation and steer it into a path that the
other person finds interesting. There are a few methods, or strategies, of figuring out what the other
person likes: passive, active, and interactive. In the passive strategy, you try to find out the other
person s interests through observation from afar. This happens without their knowledge, because you
re trying to figure out what they re like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This happens most frequently in what is commonly referred to as small talk. Since I am a rather shy
person, I don t generally use the active nor the interactive strategy of reducing uncertainty. However,
because I do spend most of my time online, the easiest way of finding out more information about
someone is through passive strategy. While most people do think it s a little creepy to search for
someone specifically, even more would agree that it would be creepy to start a conversation with
friends of a person you re searching about online. In real life encounters, I still generally use the
passive strategy of observing people, mainly because my social skills are less than adequate. From my
non experience, I can infer that each of the interpersonal encounters have their benefits and
drawbacks. The passive strategy does get you information about the person you re looking for, but if it
comes up how you got the information you know, it could severely impact the potential relationship
you could have with that person. The active strategy gives you information by proxy, and also has the
added bonus of getting to know the kind of people your person socializes with, as well. Unfortunately,
as previously stated, faulty information is easy to get with this method, and it s possible the people
you talk with will tell the person you want to know, causing them to avoid you. And finally, the
interactive strategy gives

The Bolshevik Revolution of October 1917-Essay Review
In 1917, in the midst of the Great War, Russia faced one of the biggest political shifts that the Tsarist
ruled country had ever known the Bolshevik Revolution. There are two significant time frames
associated with the Bolshevik Revolution. In the February revolution Tsar Nicholas II abdicated his
throne and a Provisional Government took control. In the October revolution the Bolsheviks took
power by overthrowing the Provisional Government. How did the October revolution become a
reality? What factors facilitated the Bolshevik Revolution of October 1917? Two important factors

After the July event, Lvov s resignation, Kerensky took control as the new Prime Minister.
Richard Pipes gives a detailed account of the events that led up to the July event and the Bolsheviks
preparedness. The Bolsheviks were opportunists and used propaganda to influence and agitate, gives
credit to their political strategy. The Bolsheviks saw an opportunity and used it. They also understood
that their timing had to be flawless. They did not want to quell the frenzy they had created among the
mutineers; however, a premature large scale uprising would give the Provisional Government an
excuse to crush them. Although the July event was a setback for the Bolsheviks, it did create a
growing dissatisfaction among the soldiers. Many had no more will to fight, and lost their faith in the
government. This would prove crucial when Kerensky would, with failed attempts, call on them to
defend the Winter Palace against insurgents in the October Revolution.
An important factor that facilitated the Bolshevik Revolution was the Kornilov Affair. Pipes and
Fitzpatrick disagree in that Fitzpatrick refers to the Kornilov Affair as a coup based on national
interest. Pipes refers to the Kornilov Affair as a coup in response to deception. Fitzpatrick writes the
coup attempt by Kornilov was of his own design and without provocation. Pipes however, establishes
the Kornilov Affair was a result of Kerensky s misperceptions. Kerensky felt that as head

Essay on Moliere s Tartuffe
The Theme of Moliere s Tartuffe: Reason vs. Passion
Jean Baptitste Poquelin Moliere s Tartuffe, is undoubtedly a satirical comedy. In Moliere s description
of a satire, he was very direct as to the function and objectives of one are. The function is to correct
men s vices, using satire to ridicule them and expose them to public laughter (Moliere, p.14).
Although this satire is making fun of many things in the church and organized religion, which is not
the only objective Moliere had in mind. Tartuffe has many themes that reoccur through out the play.
The time period, in which this play was written, was known as the Age of Reason. One of the main

Cleante is another character that could be considered a raisoneur during the play. There is numerous
times where he interjects reason into a situation. Ought not a Christian to forgive, and ought he not to
stifle every vengeful thought? Should you stand by and watch a father make his only son an exile for
you sake? Again I tell you frankly, be advised: the whole town, high and low, is scandalized; this
quarrel must be mended, and my advice is not to push matter to a further crisis (4. 1. 9 16). In this
scene, Cleante is trying to talk reason into Tartuffe s actions. Orgon has just kicked out his son, and
made Tartuffe his sole heir. Although Orgon has acted out on his passion without considering any
reason, Cleante is attempting to show Tartuffe his wrong doings and his hypocrisy. Up to this point,
Tartuffe has been a very reasonable man. His character was not known for acting out his passions. But
Moliere adds a twist to the story when this exact thing, Tartuffe s passion, is the sole explanation for
his downfall. Slowly his passion for Elmire and greed infest his way of thinking and leads to his
defeat. He let his passions control his reason.
Again in Act V, Scene 2, Cleante comes to the rescue of young Damis. What a display of young
hotheadedness! Do learn to moderate your fits of rage. In this just kingdom, this enlightened age; one
does not settle things by violence (5. 2. 10 13). Damis had just learned that Tartuffe had wronged his

Upon completion the three leadership assessments, I was surprised to notice several data points which

One of these instances was my low balanced processing scores during the Authentic Leadership Self

One step I plan to take is to recognize that leadership is both an art and a science as it requires more
than simply making the right choice, but also developing a personal leadership style. This is so as the
results revealed that I tended to render decisions based on logic, which may not be the case as not all
business decisions will be black and white choices. Another action I plan to consider is to have a
broader understanding of my professional abilities and take them into consideration at a reasonable
degree. While the results highlighted several of my leadership strengths such as being open to others
and having a positive attitude, I must not take them for granted and assume that I can confront any
challenge despite my prior successes. This is so as my strengths in one field might not compensate for
another as I must strive towards becoming a complete professional rather than settling for my existing
skillset. In conclusion, these assessments have provided myself with a broader understanding of my
leadership acumen and I plan to apply their findings towards taking on future career

Freud And The Unconscious Mind
Freud and the Unconscious Mind
Known widely as the Father of modern psychology, there is not a scholar in the current history of
psychology that has been so widely debated, criticised or had as much influence on our current ways
of thinking and understanding layman s psychology as Sigmund Freud. To put into context his vast
influence, consider the term Freudian Slip a phrase so innocuous yet extremely telling of the vast
influence of Sigmund Freud on our everyday life. Freud represents a layman s ideas of psychology,
the image of a well dressed housewife smoking a cigarette reclining on a low leather chaise whilst
spilling her darkest secrets to an elderly doctor who takes notes and nods his head occasionally. This is
an image seen countless times in various different scenarios, the patients and props varying yet the
influence remains the same.
Freud s theories in many ways were revolutionary; far ahead of their time and despite the criticism
that followed; their popularity remains undiminished as Sigmund Freud remains one of the most
researched and written about psychologists in modern history. However his most significant work was
the Psychodynamic Theory. The Psychodynamic Theory represents all of Freud s work regarding the
human psyche, it explains personality in terms of conscious and unconscious forces, building upon his
previous collaboration with Josef Breuer in 1892 on the theory that the mind is a complex energy
system (Sigmund Freud: The Unconscious Mind

Relationship Between Language And Symbol
The definition of a symbol according to Merriam Webster Dictionary is something that stands for
something else by reason of relationship or association; and can either be letters, pictures, an action,
object or event. Symbols are not restricted to pictures or objects, but can include gestures as well as
words. Symbol use is necessarily not just for infants, but adults as well and is crucial to the way
humans think. Not only does something such as a map serve as a symbol but words such as wedding
ring can also be seen as a symbol. Therefore, it is clear that language and symbols go hand in hand.
The question that arises then is the affect of these two on learning in young children. Many studies
have been conducted studying the relationship and affect between language and symbol use in infants.
It is understood that linguistic and symbolic abilities overlap , but language is far more complex than
learning symbols. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) When infants are first learning words, they connect the
words they re being exposed to, to the objects around them. Therefore, early word acquisition focuses
on the symbolic nature of words. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) This study more specifically focuses on how
infants distinguish between words and other symbols and how this relationship changes with
development. A more recent study proposed that, early word acquisition is a function of a general
symbolic ability, suggesting that infants learn words and symbols with the same ability at the

Female Athletes And Professional Sports Essay
Women in professional sports fits into the Sex and Power: Global Gender Inequality class because
many female athletes have experienced the inequalities in a professional sports setting. Female
athletes are being put down by gender inequalities, causing less females participating in athletic

less, female and males are receiving unequal benefits in the form of scholarship, media coverage,
transportation, and stadium conditions. The professional sport s world is filled with the obsession of
body image and sexuality. Through this obsession, female athletes have been abused from the people
they trust the most. There is an increasing inequality in women s professional sports in the form of

Benefits And Benefits Of Alternative Medicine
Chapter 2: What You Need to Know Before You Start
There are as much traditional medicinal techniques as there are diverse cultures in the world. Which is
great news, because it would simply mean that people wishing to use alternative medicine as a way to
heal themselves would have the luxury to choose, the ones that better meet their expectations, or the
ones they believe work the best, as well as the ones that can fit their lifestyles, because, let s face it,
most people would rather look for an easy to follow technique that can be done at home and without
necessarily making an appointment with a professional therapist.
Let s now have a look at the main branches of traditional medicine (at least the ones commonly used
in Western societies today).
The Main Fields of Relative Medicine and Their Benefits
Many therapists are making a fortune by offering to their clients / patients what they call a safer and
more natural alternative than modern medicine. According to the BLS also known as the Bureau of
Labor Statistics, traditional practitioners or therapists make an estimate of $73,400 a year (this is a
median salary). Which is not bad, and indicates that perhaps some disciplines in traditional medicine
pay more than others, as with everything in the Western world, it s all about tendencies and
preferences.
Let s now have a look at some of the most popular fields of traditional medicine, still used today.

The Nature Of Face Processing Impairments
PY3003 Autistic Spectrum Disorders
What is the nature of face processing impairments in autism?
Student ID: 1310023
Word count: 1257 Face processing deficits in ASD are not a result of inability how well faces are
processed but rather a matter of mechanism in what way this is accomplished. Although some have
found no differences in performance compared to controls (Adolphs, Sears Piven, 2001; Neumann et
al., 2006; Celani et al., 1999), abnormalities on the behavioural (e.g. Langdell, 1978; Joseph Tanaka,
2002;) and neural (Schultz et al., 2000; Pierce et al., 2001) level are consistently observed.
Abnormalities might not always be detected, since autistic individuals could utilise compensatory
mechanisms, thus performing similarly to controls on some tasks (Harms, Martin Wallace, 2010).
Methodological differences, higher functioning and older samples, and lack of consistency in controls
could also account for the conflicting results. Still, the literature mostly suggests that autistic people
process faces in a qualitatively different manner.
Insight into the causes of this alternative mechanism can help reverse its effects to an extent, or
possibly diagnose autism earlier. Moreover, face processing deficits might underpin the social and
affective difficulties associated with autism, in which case improving face processing abilities could
ameliorate these difficulties. Understanding of the deficits causes is only possible in the context of
typical face

Cross Cultural Differences Nonverbal Communication Essay
Gestures provide one of the most obvious cases of cross cultural differences in nonverbal
communication. In South Italy gesture use is prominent and many gestures are conventional. These
include pragmatic gestures that indicate type of speech act or aspects of discourse structure and
substantive gestures that express utterance content (Kendon, n.d.). The examples of conventional
pragmatic gestures are the Mano a borsa( purse hand ) and the Mani giunte ( praying hands ) are well
known and have recognition as quotable gestures or emblems . They express the illocutionary intent of
the spoken utterances associated with them. The second two relate to discourse structure: The Finger
Bunch, which is similar to the purse hand in form, marks topic as distinct from comment ; the Ring, in
which the tips of the index finger and thumb are brought into contact forming a circle, marks the
locality of a unit in relation to the theme. Emblems, in particular, tend to differ by culture. Emblems
are gestures that substitute for language. Examples of emblems include waving hand to say hello or
goodbye , nodding to say yes , putting your hand out so that someone stops, and more. Those are the
examples of emblems in the United States. In Italy, handshake is common. It is used with everyone
you meet, but women must hold their hand out first. When meeting for get together, they shake
everyone hands, including children, then again when leaving (Bosrock, 2010). Furthermore,

hit, leading to another Abbott Robbins Fosse collaboration, Damn Yankees (1955), and introducing

Verdon became his foremost interpreter in the musicals New Girl in Town (1957), Redhead (1959),

The vibrant orange lights within the case shot on like a torch in the dark of a cave, illuminating the
graphics card, motherboard, RAM sticks, SSD, fans, and CPU cooler. The inner workings of my
creation, the structure, the bones and the guts of my self built, brand new PC gaming computer. My
journey to the world of PC building and gaming was exciting and I felt pride when my own creation
came to life for the first time. I was on the road to my final stop in the gaming realm, PC gaming,
where I plan to stay. I haven t always been a PC gamer, since a young age I ve had a connection with
gaming as a hobby, one year I received a Gameboy advance for Christmas and thus began my love of
all things digital. Every year it seemed a new game system would come out and I always managed to
convince my parents to get me the latest toy. I ve had many types of consoles over the years, including
Xbox, PS3, and a Wii. The jump to PC gaming was influenced mainly by my friends who started to
play more games on PC than consoles, so to join them, I needed to shift to PC ... Show more content

It is like putting together a puzzle, the thought of building a computer can probably seem like a
daunting task, but its amazingly simple and I figured it out just by watching YouTube videos. The
most challenging part of a PC build is selecting the best parts that are right for you, there are hundreds,
if not thousands of different parts to choose from and they are all not created equal. PCPartPicker is
just one site for the task, they have all of the parts ever created on file and you can simply select which
ones you want from all the choices; including graphics cards, motherboards, RAM sticks, SSDs,
HDDs, coolers, cases, and even your peripherals. It took me several weeks to compile the list of parts
I would need, some of my friends gave me advice and information on the best parts as well as the ones

Pursuing A Career In The Field Of Sport Psychology
The field in psychology that I have chosen to write about is the field of sports psychology. This field
interested me because of its ties to the world of sports which is my true passion in life. The first
experience I had with this field of psychology was during my time attending Diablo Valley College,
which around the time I began to find an interest in the field of psychology as a whole. Even though
this was field that I truly found interesting, I personally haven t spent the time to diligently look into
the field until taking this course this year. The goal of this career research paper is for to learn as much
as my chosen field in psychology as possible.

Why In 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
Accounting Regulation Enron and WorldCom was the reason why in 2002, Sarbanes Oxley Act were
passed. This Federal law were passed in order to not only protects investors from accounting fraud,
but it also prevents these corporate scandals from happening. SOX aims directly at public accounting
firms that participate in financial audits of corporations. Even though it increases that cost of
accounting services for many company, it has been proven that it has improved corporate governance,
ethics and audit quality. This act not only affects publicly held corporations, but smaller firms are also
affected. Most likely because local and state lawmakers will extend similar regulations throughout the
accounting industry. Accounting services cost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there have been accounting fraud since the implementation of SOX, it seems that the act has
lessened the rate at which these scandals occur. Even though the Sarbanes Oxley Act was
implemented to fight accounting fraud, and increase regulations and oversight by the SOX, accounting
fraud is almost too big to eradicate. Although, it can be significantly reduced, accounting fraud and
scandals will remain to be a part of corporate America. References LLC, D. M. (n.d.). How the

Flossing Your Teeth Essay
It is likely that you have heard about the importance of good oral hygiene for many years. However,
do you really know what entails? Having good oral hygiene helps to ensure that your teeth and mouth
look, feel, and smell healthy. Proper oral hygiene habits help to assure that your teeth are clean and
free of debris, your gums are pink and do not bleed, and you do not suffer from constant bad breath.
Since having good oral hygiene is so important, it is essential that you follow these five guidelines to
make that happen.
Brush
Of course, brushing every day is important. You need to brush your teeth at least two times every day.

Unfortunately, the result can be painful, time consuming, and expensive procedures that could have
been avoided by having regular check ups. You should have an oral check up two times a year. It
should involve a full hygiene treatment and periodic x rays. Visiting your dentist can have other
benefits as well. Your dentist can detect small issues before they become big problems and can also
help you look at the bigger picture of your health. Often tooth pain and other problems can be
indicative of bigger health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, systemic infections, and other

Pros And Cons Of Vice President Joe Biden
This week, speculation about a potential presidential run from Vice President Joe Biden has increased.
Maureen Dowd, a columnist for the New York Times wrote that the death of his son, Beau, has caused
him to reconsider running in the 2016 election. She reports that he has been meeting with friends and
family about becoming a candidate. Dowd never named any sources and the credibility of the report is
not good. But it has ignited a debate this week over whether the 72 year old Vice President, will run,
should run, and any possible question less certain the media can ask than Will Hillary win the
Democratic nomination? Biden has not ruled out a third presidential campaign but has done nothing to
indicate one either. Aides say many condolence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biden is well liked by nearly everyone in Washington and his supportive role in the Obama
administration has helped his stature. He s seen as an authentic and funny guy. While Biden makes a
great Onion headline and uncle, his vulnerabilities make him not a great candidate for president. Biden
s previous presidential campaigns have been terribly executed. In 1988, Biden plagiarized speeches
from a British politician, destroying any chance of a successful campaign. Biden ran for president in
2008 as well, earning less than one percent of the vote in Iowa. Biden s foreign policy and national
security record is slim at best. Obama s first secretary of defense wrote that he found him nearly
always wrong on issues of foreign policy and national security. Despite recent drop in polling
numbers, over 75 percent of Democrats support Hillary. She s garnered more endorsements at this
stage of the election than any modern era. She s raised 68 million dollars. Biden doesn t have a
significant advantage over Hillary in the general election. If voters are tired of Obama and Democrats,
they re tired of Biden as well. His age is also a hinderance as well. While Americans aren t concerned
about a 72 year old executing the duties of vice president, most don t know what a vice president does.
Biden would be 74 on the date of his potential inauguration. Reagan was nearly 70. If for some reason
Clinton bombs out of the race, Biden is the candidate with the best odds. But until then, the odds of
him winning the Democratic nomination aren t good enough for him to

Unfortunately for us, it was a little too massive, and we swung to the side, facing the wrong way. I wrestled the controls, and finally stabilized on target. Nice shot, I said, as my brother shot down the fighter we were tailing. We flew forward, and I glanced at the radar. I turned to face the nearest enemy on the radar. However, I had pulled too hard on the turn, and went spinning out of control. The plane did a barrel roll as I fought my way to stability. Percy Bysshe Shelley expressed his individualism and realness in his works through a unique style of writing shown in Ozymandias and To a Skylark ; although he learned and grew from his criticisms, he was heavily influenced by his childhood, personal beliefs, and views and experiences of the world. • 8. Cuba Human Geography Cuba has been the source of controversy for decades. Between events such as the Bay of Pigs invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960s and the country s ongoing Communist dictatorship, this island nation has not always been thought of as an appealing place to visit. However, Cuba s physical and human geography, especially when coupled with the lifting of the US embargo, give it the potential to be a prime tourism destination. Cuba first gained importance in the 1560s, when the Spanish built Havana as a center to keep and build navy ships. During the 1700s, it primarily profited from sugar plantations, though it also made money from cattle farming, tobacco, and coffee. Cuba primarily exported the sugar it produced to Spain, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although only certain Americans will be able to visit Cuba at first, there is the potential to allow free travel between the two countries in the future (Marsh, 2016). Because Americans make up over half of all Caribbean tourist arrivals, they would likely add Cuba to their itineraries when visiting the region. Another potential sector for development is ferry service from Florida to Cuba. These ferries would easily allow Floridians to make quick weekend trips to the Caribbean, and even bring their car by using one of the larger drive on ferries (Padilla McElroy, 2007, p. 650). In addition to ferries, Havana could become a port of call for the hundreds of cruise ships that sail through the Caribbean each week. Although the Port of Havana is currently only suitable for smaller ships with a maximum length of 755 feet, the government is sure to realize the huge potential economic benefit from cruise ships and construct larger areas for them to dock (Port of Havana). Another way Americans will be able to visit Cuba in the future is by plane. Both of these victim groups are relevant to the story, however one gets more recognition than the other. In the story, Ellison identifies racism and bigotry exerted by the white men onto the African American boys in a fist fight and electric rug scene. Before the physical torture of the boys, Ellison brings attention to the sexism and degrading actions toward a naked female dancer. The evils endured by the boys and the dancer are equally bad in their own right, although the female dancer s are subdued. The female dancer endured the derogatory ideas of the men, their forcefulness, and their different emotional traumas. If the genetic information is only accessible to the individual then there is a decreased chance of such discrimination occurring because the information is disclosed to who the individual wishes to. Genetic information can raise questions about personal responsibility, personal choice versus genetic determinism, and concepts of health and disease. Personal factors, family values, and community and cultural beliefs can mould the reactions to these issues. For example the response to the genetic information and suggestion from physicians after the test will be drastically different in a society where traditions and religion determine life choices, such as India, than to a more individually liberal society like the USA. Even in a progressive society that has had specific ethnic groups for multiple generations disparities with medical technology are common. A study conducted, using the national representative data, in the USA with the sample that consisted of 1724 men and women of non Hispanic whites, Latinos, and African American background. Results exposed significant differences by racial/ethnic groups in knowledge and concerns about the potential misuse of genetic testing. Significantly higher levels of mistrust in a physician and the medical system was a common thread within minorities. The genetic tests can be a way of ridding anxiety attached to the assumed inheritance of genetic disease due to family background whilst for others the genetic test reveals their reality. • 26. Essay on Moliere s Tartuffe The Theme of Moliere s Tartuffe: Reason vs. Passion Jean Baptitste Poquelin Moliere s Tartuffe, is undoubtedly a satirical comedy. In Moliere s description of a satire, he was very direct as to the function and objectives of one are. The function is to correct men s vices, using satire to ridicule them and expose them to public laughter (Moliere, p.14). Although this satire is making fun of many things in the church and organized religion, which is not the only objective Moliere had in mind. Cleante is another character that could be considered a raisoneur during the play. There is numerous times where he interjects reason into a situation. Ought not a Christian to forgive, and ought he not to stifle every vengeful thought? Should you stand by and watch a father make his only son an exile for you sake? Again I tell you frankly, be advised: the whole town, high and low, is scandalized; this quarrel must be mended, and my advice is not to push matter to a further crisis (4. 1. 9 16). In this scene, Cleante is trying to talk reason into Tartuffe s actions. Orgon has just kicked out his son, and made Tartuffe his sole heir. Although Orgon has acted out on his passion without considering any reason, Cleante is attempting to show Tartuffe his wrong doings and his hypocrisy. Up to this point, Tartuffe has been a very reasonable man. His character was not known for acting out his passions. But Moliere adds a twist to the story when this exact thing, Tartuffe s passion, is the sole explanation for his downfall. Slowly his passion for Elmire and greed infest his way of thinking and leads to his defeat. He let his passions control his reason. Again in Act V, Scene 2, Cleante comes to the rescue of young Damis. What a display of young hotheadedness! Do learn to moderate your fits of rage. Another action I plan to consider is to have a broader understanding of my professional abilities and take them into consideration at a reasonable degree. While the results highlighted several of my leadership strengths such as being open to others and having a positive attitude, I must not take them for granted and assume that I can confront any challenge despite my prior successes. Freud And The Unconscious Mind Freud and the Unconscious Mind Known widely as the Father of modern psychology, there is not a scholar in the current history of psychology that has been so widely debated, criticised or had as much influence on our current ways of thinking and understanding layman s psychology as Sigmund Freud. To put into context his vast influence, consider the term Freudian Slip a phrase so innocuous yet extremely telling of the vast influence of Sigmund Freud on our everyday life. Freud represents a layman s ideas of psychology, the image of a well dressed housewife smoking a cigarette reclining on a low leather chaise whilst spilling her darkest secrets to an elderly doctor who takes notes and nods his head occasionally. This is an image seen countless times in various different scenarios, the patients and props varying yet the influence remains the same. Freud s theories in many ways were revolutionary; far ahead of their time and despite the criticism that followed; their popularity remains undiminished as Sigmund Freud remains one of the most researched and written about psychologists in modern history. However his most significant work was the Psychodynamic Theory. The Psychodynamic Theory represents all of Freud s work regarding the human psyche, it explains personality in terms of conscious and unconscious forces, building upon his previous collaboration with Josef Breuer in 1892 on the theory that the mind is a complex energy system (Sigmund Freud: The Unconscious Mind ... • 32. Relationship Between Language And Symbol The definition of a symbol according to Merriam Webster Dictionary is something that stands for something else by reason of relationship or association; and can either be letters, pictures, an action, object or event. Symbols are not restricted to pictures or objects, but can include gestures as well as words. Symbol use is necessarily not just for infants, but adults as well and is crucial to the way humans think. Not only does something such as a map serve as a symbol but words such as wedding ring can also be seen as a symbol. Therefore, it is clear that language and symbols go hand in hand. The question that arises then is the affect of these two on learning in young children. Many studies have been conducted studying the relationship and affect between language and symbol use in infants. It is understood that linguistic and symbolic abilities overlap , but language is far more complex than learning symbols. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) When infants are first learning words, they connect the words they re being exposed to, to the objects around them. Therefore, early word acquisition focuses on the symbolic nature of words. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) This study more specifically focuses on how infants distinguish between words and other symbols and how this relationship changes with development. A more recent study proposed that, early word acquisition is a function of a general symbolic ability, suggesting that infants learn words and symbols with the same ability at the ... • 39. The Nature Of Face Processing Impairments PY3003 Autistic Spectrum Disorders What is the nature of face processing impairments in autism? Student ID: 1310023 Word count: 1257 Face processing deficits in ASD are not a result of inability how well faces are processed but rather a matter of mechanism in what way this is accomplished. Although some have found no differences in performance compared to controls (Adolphs, Sears Piven, 2001; Neumann et al., 2006; Celani et al., 1999), abnormalities on the behavioural (e.g. Langdell, 1978; Joseph Tanaka, 2002;) and neural (Schultz et al., 2000; Pierce et al., 2001) level are consistently observed. Abnormalities might not always be detected, since autistic individuals could utilise compensatory mechanisms, thus performing similarly to controls on some tasks (Harms, Martin Wallace, 2010). Methodological differences, higher functioning and older samples, and lack of consistency in controls could also account for the conflicting results. Still, the literature mostly suggests that autistic people process faces in a qualitatively different manner. Insight into the causes of this alternative mechanism can help reverse its effects to an extent, or possibly diagnose autism earlier. Moreover, face processing deficits might underpin the social and affective difficulties associated with autism, in which case improving face processing abilities could ameliorate these difficulties. Understanding of the deficits causes is only possible in the context of typical face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In South Italy gesture use is prominent and many gestures are conventional. The examples of conventional pragmatic gestures are the Mano a borsa( purse hand ) and the Mani giunte ( praying hands ) are well known and have recognition as quotable gestures or emblems . They express the illocutionary intent of the spoken utterances associated with them. • 48. Pros And Cons Of Vice President Joe Biden This week, speculation about a potential presidential run from Vice President Joe Biden has increased. Maureen Dowd, a columnist for the New York Times wrote that the death of his son, Beau, has caused him to reconsider running in the 2016 election. While Biden makes a great Onion headline and uncle, his vulnerabilities make him not a great candidate for president. Biden s previous presidential campaigns have been terribly executed. In 1988, Biden plagiarized speeches from a British politician, destroying any chance of a successful campaign. Biden ran for president in 2008 as well, earning less than one percent of the vote in Iowa. Biden s foreign policy and national security record is slim at best. Obama s first secretary of defense wrote that he found him nearly always wrong on issues of foreign policy and national security. Despite recent drop in polling numbers, over 75 percent of Democrats support Hillary. She s garnered more endorsements at this stage of the election than any modern era. She s raised 68 million dollars. Biden doesn t have a significant advantage over Hillary in the general election. If voters are tired of Obama and Democrats, they re tired of Biden as well. His age is also a hinderance as well. While Americans aren t concerned about a 72 year old executing the duties of vice president, most don t know what a vice president does. Biden would be 74 on the date of his potential inauguration. Reagan was nearly 70. If for some reason Clinton bombs out of the race, Biden is the candidate with the best odds. But until then, the odds of him winning the Democratic nomination aren t good enough for him to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
