Students Hacked Corona Del Mar High School to Change...
Hacking has become a common trend all over the world. The act has not only become more and
more rampant for commercial gains but also for other reasons such as academic gains. This was
the case in California where some students managed to hack into their class teacher s account. This
hacking was followed by an alteration of the grades which was obviously to their advantage so that
the system can reflect that they passed the tests. This incident took place in Orange County and the
students were learning in the Corona Del Mar High Schoolwhich is located in the Newport Beach
which is located In the Southern parts of California.
It is believed that the student used a technique that uses hardware key logging to access the teacher

The administrator is required to review and analyze approximately 52,000 adjustment which have
been made to the examination system for a period starting last year. The auditing will target all the
changes that were made on the system without the proper authorization.
Even though the necessary measures have been taken so ensure that the culprits are punished and
that the system is upgraded to a more secure state. The school has said that there may be many
people who are involved or have been involved in the habit of cheating. The administration then
explained that due to the increase use of technology, there is a risk that is always associated with it.
The school has taken upon to conduct fingerprinting and tracking the students so as to uncover the
truth behind the saga. Employing the use of identification cards and monitoring the general
activities when the students are out of school, are some of the techniques that the school has
decided to adopt in tracking.
This security is essential since the students are well equipped to bypass the system. This is evident
in the scenario that unfolded when the LA students were provided with iPads and within a short
time they had unlocked them.
According to the school, very valuable information such as upcoming examinations and grading
methods are at risk of being hacked.
Factors that made hacking easier The protection of information on social network seems to be hard

My Life Is A Case Of Existential Crisis
Anxiety. Stress. These emotions bring forth many headaches and heartaches. People often relate
such emotions to problems or unexpected happenings. But could it be instead a case of
existential crisis? Existential crisis is when a person starts to worry or question the meaning of
their life. Does life have a purpose? Does life have any value? If so, what is its value? In my case, it
happens very often. Scared and alone, I often wonder about the meaning of my life. Is my life
worth living? If you have felt this way, maybe you have a case of existential crisis. I am scared
that I will not be able to accomplish my hopes and dreams. All I can think of is the mistakes I have

I could be in a party, having fun, and suddenly I start to think about the things that worry me the
most. This tears me up so much inside that I usually start to become desperate. I get desperate to
do something else, leave, and go somewhere else. I often end up leaving parties because I m no
longer happy being there. When this happens I just don t want to be in that place so much it
becomes easy to isolate myself. Social isolation is when you isolate yourself from other people
because you prefer to be alone or wish to have no contact with people and the rest of the world. I

Marketing Plan For Target Corporation
TARGET CORPORATION INTRODUCTION Target corporation is known as the second
largest discount retailer in America. It was established by George Dayton and headquartered in
Minneapolis, Minnesota, the company was originally named Goodfellow Dry Goods in June
1902 before being renamed the Dayton s Dry Goods Company in 1903 and later the Dayton
Company in 1910. Target Corp. is one of the biggest retailers in the country with 1,699 stores. In
1902, George Draper Dayton bought the Goodfellow Dry Goods store in Minneapolis, and after
several name changes it eventually became Target. After Dayton s death in 1950, the company

The deal was announced to have been made for $1.8 billion. Target opened its first Canadian
stores in March 2013, and at its peak, Target Canada had 133 stores. However, the expansion into
Canada was beset with problems, including supply chain issues that resulted in stores with aisles
of empty shelves and higher than expected retail prices. Target Canada racked up losses of $2.1
billion in its short life, and the store s botched expansion was characterized by the Canadian and
US media as a spectacular failure, an unmitigated, disaster and a gold standard case study in what
retailers should not attempt to do when they enter a new market. On January 15, 2015, Target
announced that all 133 of its Canadian outlets would be closed and liquidated by the end of
2015.The last Target Canada stores closed on April 12, 2015, far ahead of the initial schedule. As

Summary Of The School By Donald Barthelge
The question, ...is death that which gives meaning to life? is more than just a question being asked
in the short story The School by Donald Barthelme, it is a question asked by many throughout life
(Barthelme 2). In the short story The School , where a series of unfortunate events are happening
around an elementary school, it begins with something less tragic from a failed school project, to
something dreadful with the death of two students. The author of the story, Donald Barthelme,
addresses the issues of life and death through this, and with the conflict of The School not only
does it teach us to accept death, but also to be responsible with life and to be courageous. The short
storyis centered on an elementary school and is narrated by a teacher named Edgar . The narrator
discusses and talks about the series of tragedies happening around the school in a conversational
manner as if he is story telling or talking about it to us. The way the narrator speaks captures the
reader s attention, which makes the reader feel like part of the story. The story is set up with the
least tragic event coming first, and then it builds up to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Death without reason makes people frightened, just as how the narrator was frightened. The point
that Barthelme is illustrating here is that we should just be courageous and face our fears. The
request from the children for the teacher to make love with the teaching assistant seems to be a
quest for the opposite of death, an attempt to find that which gives meaning to life (Barthelme 2).
The teacher, feeling just as frightened as the kids, took on the responsibility to be courageous and
grants the students their request, allowing the children to hope for better times and future
happiness. In this instance, the possibility of prosperity arrives in the form of the new gerbil

Description Of The Botanical Boat Trip
Botanical Boat Trip
In the middle of the urban wilderness lies a more natural one, the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.
There, people can walk through an enchanted forest just a short drive from their home. I arrived
at the gatehouse to this wonderland ten minutes before I was due to embark. The road was
surrounded on either side by a thick forest of trees that blocked out most of the noise from the
airport and busy road outside, making me feel like I could be a thousand miles from civilization.
The cool wind and overcast sky seemed to be warning me of some approaching rain, leading me
to wonder if the boat would even go out. After parking in front of a low, stone building, I passed
through two sets of glass doors to arrive behind the building, followed the path out back down a
series of stone steps, stopped in front of the boat dock, and greeted the crew.
The young bearded man shivering in his Virginia Tech hoodie and shorts asked us, How s it
going? I will be your tour guide. My name is Michael, and my shipmate is Terry. We ask that you
sit in the back to keep the motor under the waves. The business focused pilot got right to his
station in the pilot s chair. My sister accompanied me, and soon our last shipmate of the day
arrived. Only three of us attended the boat tour that day. The threat of rain seemed to frighten off
other guests leaving the park empty and peaceful, but I pushed on, wanting to reach the lake outside
the garden and take in its magnificent view. As we

Urban Water Environmental Analysis
In this changing global world, urban water systems are the most essential, valuable and sensitive
part of public infrastructure. Different utilities and municipalities are dealing with this
infrastructure with high responsibility for proper management and expansion for present and
future generations (2). Rising population, growth in development, climate change all these issues
are going to increase the demand of water in the future. According to United Nations Department
of Economy And Social Affairs (UNDESA), the global water demand is projected to increase by
55% by 2050(3), and the world will face a 40% global shortfall between forecast demand and
available supply by 2030(World Economic Forum,2014).
This increasing population and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whole Life Asset Management (WLAM) involves the application of systematic processes to
manage assets over a whole life cycle in order to ensure the infrastructure performance satisfies the
intended service with minimized corresponding risk and cost (4)(5).
As an analysis to measure, how WLAM can improve the asset performance of water infrastructure,
this report evaluates a case study carried out by GHD, University of Sydney and p3iC, on one
water approach to urban water management at a city scale, namely that of the city of Sydney. The
study highlighted the challenges and the problems that are present in the water infrastructure of the
city of Sydney.
This report shows where WLAM can be applied at the water infrastructure of the city to cope up
with the pressure exerted on the infrastructure by increasing urban population and suggests methods
that can be utilized in doing so.
The line of sight approach will be developed between corporate objective to implementation of an
AMP. Line of sight is very important for total implementation of a project. It is basically
organizational alignment to achieve a goal.
The international standard PAS 55 provides the set of requirements that is required to achieve the
objectives through the effective and efficient management of its assets(5).

Essay on Nasser and the United States
In July 1952, the Egyptian government, headed by King Farouk, was overthrown in a bloodless
coup led by the Free Officers, soon to be known as the Egyptian Revolutionary Command Council
(RCC). The revolution was ostensibly led by Muhammad Naguib but it was clear that he was a
mere figurehead and in a little over two years, Gamal Abdel Nasserwould assume the Presidency.
Although the goals of the RCC were somewhat unclear at the start, Nasser would embark on a
policy of creating an independent Egyptfree from internal and external domination. It was the latter
goal that would set Nasser on a collision course with the West, initially Great Britain and to a lesser
extent France, but eventually the United States. As such, Nasser s commitment... Show more content

Accordingly, the United States, in the midst of their conflict in Korea, could not have been more
pleased. As Great Britain s power in the Middle East was waning, the contest between the United
States and the Soviet Union increased in order to fill the vacuum of power left by the slowly
vacating British. Immediately upon seizing power, the RCC showed a willingness to brutally
suppress domestic communist activities. According to Yaqub: The Truman administration was
enthusiastic about the new regime...The new government expressed a desire for friendly relations
with the United States and cracked down on communist activists who had taken part in the anti
British disturbances, prompting Moscow to denounce the regime as reactionary.
The revolutionary regime in Egypt appeared to fulfill US aspirations in the Middle East in a
sense that it was sufficiently opposed to communism and at the same time appeared to have
generated popular sympathy. When in the fall of 1954 Nasser stated his willingness to align with
the west while seeing the USSR as the only real threat to Egypt s independence, the United States
responded by providing propaganda for Nasser s regime in Egypt and the Arab world. The
appearance of solidarity, however, was soon to be tested.

The First Stage Of The Consumer Decision Process
The first stage of the consumer decision process is need/problem recognition. Most people who
are looking for a diet see a need to please themselves and need change physically. When looking
at a diet consumers are looking for something that is functional and can change them. The
marketers can influence my decision by initially being perceived as something that I need.
Information is the next step in deciding what to get based on the consumer s needs. Internal and
external information will be put in to play when deciding where to head next. Internal
information is present information and comes from previous experiences. External information
is what someone finds when looking for a solution for their needs. Both types of information can
be used to market positively and negatively. Marketers can do everything they can to have their
product be put in a good light. When consumers look externally markets can give reasons why it
s worth a consumer s time to use their product with little to no risk. With all information
available it s time to make a decision. Decision can be hard to make depending on the needs of a
consumer. There are criteria involved in making a decision and depending on if the product fits the
criteria will determine if it will be purchased. The determining attributes are the features most
important to the consumer. If the consumer is in need of premade meals compared to making their
own that will play a large effect in the decision. Marketers need to show their

Klhl3 Gene Essay
The KLHL3 gene (Kelch like family member 3) creates a protein that works in conjunction with
proteasomes to degrade unwanted proteins via an ubiquitin proteasome system. KLHL3 is mainly
expressed in the cerebellum and the distal collecting tubule in the kidneys (3). is Though expressed
in the KLHL3 proteinhas a N terminal BTB domain, a C terminal that has Ketch like repeats, and a
BACK domain, forming a conformation that is a bladed beta propeller structure (1). The protein
produced by this geneis part of a complex (E3 ubiquitin ligase), which functions to indicate
damaged and additional proteins by labelling these with ubiquitin, which is the tag later recognized
by proteasomes for breakdown (4). This labelling is possible with the... Show more content on

Mutations for KLHL3 that cause disease all involve missense mutations, resulting in a different
amino acid, again noting the inability to interact with substrates (7). One mutation, for example,
resulted in a cytosine to thymine nucleotide change at codon 410, changing from a serine to a
leucine amino acid. This change in polarity, moving from a polar to nonpolar amino acid, disrupts
regular formation of the E3 complex, not allowing for ubiquitin attachment. These missense
mutations often inhibit the ability of the KLHL3 protein to form the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex,
and so this prevents the normal function of identifying extraneous and damaged proteins, resulting
in an excess of WNK4, due to no protein degradation as a result of the inability to tag these excess
proteins. This inability to form the complex in some mutations is a result of the cluster of serine
residues that were affected by the mutation, building up on the propeller domains, disrupting
interactions with substrate and/or altering protein structure, though it is more common to see one
or the other (6). This leads to high blood pressure, due to no control over WNK4 concentrations in
the blood. It was commented on that the majority of mutations affected the ability of the KLHL3 to
associate with the rest of the complex, therefore unable to

Franklin s old adage in this world nothing can be said to be certain except death and taxes has

director at number 84 in his recent book 150 Best Recession Proof Jobs . Yes the work will
continue to come and as the baby boomers come of age, so to speak, the funeral industry doesn t
look like slowing down. However, it is not just the people that are dying, the profits are too!
People have become more cost conscious as a consequence of the recession and even in their time
of grief they are starting to shop around for the best deal to bury their loved ones. Remember, death
can be sudden and unplanned and a costly funeral will rarely be budgeted for. A funeral is a
celebration of someone s life and often the extravagance is a reflection of the respect for that

Immigrants are quite beneficial to the American economy, ...immigrants also positively benefit the
economy by increasing demand, spurring investment, and keeping receiving country industries
competitive through enhancing capital productivity (Nadadur 1). They help the economy in
different ways making them one of the reasons for our well established capitalist government with

Immigrants also provide a lot of jobs for the American economy. Although immigrants make jobs

Techmall Case Analysis
1. What are the revenue streams for TechMall?
TechMall s revenue streams are rather simplistic. They receive a $750 one time set up fee from all
new merchants added into the TechMall system and a $50 statement fee, or maintenance fee, per
month from all members. In addition, they receive a fee on each sales transaction, which is variable
based on the dollar volume of the merchant s transactions. TechMall s standard pricingschedule
indicates this revenue stream to be in the form of a 2% commission on all items sold by member
merchants with a maximum commission receivable of $200.
2. What drives or causes each of the revenue streams and how much does Tech Mall expect to earn
from an additional sale in each stream?

Since the transaction fee revenue stream is based on 2% of sales dollars capped at $200 we can
see that sales over $10,000 would not produce any value added for TechMall ($200/2% =
$10,000). Because of this condition, and since we were not provided with specific amounts for
each transaction conducted, we have to simply assume that customers would not spend in excess of
$10,000 on an online tech store such as TechMall.com. This assumption is strengthened when we
calculate that the year 4 average transaction amount is just $58.53, which was calculated by
dividing the total transaction dollars, $87,470,566 by total number of transactions, 1,494,547

Executive Summary Historically sin taxes have been an effective and efficient way for the
government to raise revenue. The federal government used tariffs and consumption taxes to
generate almost all of its revenue in the early years of our nation. The tax structure and philosophy
has evolved and changed since the beginning of our nation, however the use of sin taxes has
remained a good way for governments to raise revenues. Sin taxes no longer provide a significant

Most commonly, sin taxes are excise or consumption taxes that charge fees for guilty pleasures
or human indulgence. (Lorenzi, Sin Taxes 60) Sin taxes, therefore, are intended to encourage
citizens to consume or use taxed items responsibly or discourage behavior associated with the
consumption of taxed items. Goods or services generally taxed through sin tax policy have some
common characteristics including inelastic demand, promote behavior that is harmful to the
individual, and promote behavior that is harmful to others. (Lorenzi, Sin Taxes 60) Goods or
services targeted by sin taxes have an inelastic demand because they are generally habitual,
addictive, or highly pleasurable. (Lorenzi, Sin Taxes 60) Further, these goods or services are
targeted by sin tax legislation because consuming or utilizing the good or services can lead to self
destructive behavior, negative consequences for communities, and generally are considered socially
undesirable. Thus, sin taxes are not prohibitive; citizens are allowed to consume targeted goods and
services as long as the tax is not steep enough to make consumption of the good or service
impossible. (Viscusi 556) Further, the voluntary nature of sin taxes is generally more tolerable than
involuntary nature of income taxes. (Schmidt, Barr and Swanson 1677) The most confusing and
controversial element when considering sin taxes is the definition of sin.

Case Study Of Foetal Leydig Cells
The foetal Leydig Cell population arises shortly after testicular differentiation around 7 weeks in a
human after gestation by the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hcG), this is known as the first
wave (45). These cells function, mainly to produce androgens which are essential for
masculinization of the foetus as well as in the descent of the testes in the scrotum, these androgens
subsequently act as paracrine factors within the seminiferous tubules, testosterone, is only first
detected around 6 7 weeks of gestation and peaks around 13 14 weeks (45). In cases where
Leydig cells fail to develop or fail to produce androgens, pseudohermaphrodism occurs (46). The

Postnatal differentiation of human Leydig cells involves a variety of cellular cascades resulting
in mature Leydig cells. When the second wave occurs after 2 3 months of birth there is a gradual
increase in testosterone levels, the neonatal cell population during this time frame is a mix of
mature well developed Leydig cells and smaller ones (52). These cells possess well developed
steroidogenic machinery expressing both the LH receptor and key steroidogenic enzymes such as
3ОІHSD, P450scc, P450c17 required for androgen synthesis (53). The neonatal androgen surge is
believed to play a role in imprinting various cell types in the prostate, hypothalamus, genetalia and
kidney, in such a way they respond appropriately to androgen stimulation during adulthood (54).
The Leydig cells then regress and testis remain dormant until puberty (55). Following a prolonged
childhood period of steroidogenic quiescence, the hypothalamus generates a pulse of GnRH around
the 12th year (56). The onset GnRH typically occurs at night and is due in part to the gradual
decline in nocturnal melatonin secretion from the pineal gland (56). This GnRH triggers release of
the pituitary gonadotropin LH that ultimately stimulates the Leydig cells to grow in number and
size, whilst also maturing and differentiating to

The Role Of Parental Sexual Orientation On Children s...
Abstract The rise of same sex couples has brought about discussion on the influence of family
structure on children s development. Findings are presented on a sample of 20 gay father
families, 20 lesbian mother families and 20 heterosexual parent families who have a child of age 4
6 years. Natural observations in a lab environment recorded children s tendency to choose gender
specific, non gender specific or neutral toys. Comparisons in toy choice were made between
children of gay , lesbian and same sex parents. Overall, children from heterosexual families showed
greater gender stereotyping than children from homosexual families and both gender and sexual

While recent research looking into the structure of the family on children s gender development has
found some results indicating no difference between homosexual and heterosexual families (Chan,
Rayboy, Patterson, 1998; Patterson, 1992), most studies have found that homosexual family
structures account for lower gender stereotyped behaviours (Flaks, Ficher, Masterpasqua Joseph,
1995; Goldberg, Kashy, Smith, 2012; Suftin, Fulcher, Bowles Patterson, 2008). With this
discrepancy in the research, further exploration into the gender differences of children from gay ,
lesbian and heterosexual families will help understand the effects of socialization on gender
development and how to better promote the wellbeing and cognitive, social and personal
development of children.
Gender Development Children s gender development begins almost as soon as children can talk
(Serbin, Powlishta, Gulko, 1993). With the early age of gender development, children s toy
choice and play behaviours have been found to be efficient ways of measuring gender
stereotypes. Many studies have found that males and females are more likely to engage in gender
typed behaviours during periods of play (Cherney Dempsey, 2010). Recent research is beginning
to see this as a problem and recognizes gender flexibility as more positive for children s
development. An article

Analysis Of Dramaturgical Approach By Goffman
Now, Goffmans in his book The presentation of self in everyday life mentioned and described
about how we present ourselves in front of others in our daily life. The main aspect of his work
is called Dramaturgical Approach , where the root word is drama. Goffman in his book
essentially said that the world is a stage to lay the foundation of Goffman s assertions about how
we act and interact in social settings. Goffman says that the human are active and knowledgeable

knowledge that we have that helps us to decide to behave and in that respect we are active in the
process of behavior and the process of developing to the society. He also believes... Show more

Then, we later guard down little bit and we behave in a manner that we are comfortable with and
there is no one else is a part of. So, this brings on the question can anyone else really truly know
who one is? there might be some like spouse, partner, siblings and best friend who are very close
to us or may be even the parents. This people might have the grasp on which we are. But in the
end, they are not privy on how we truly behave in the backstage region. Consequently, the
concept of front stage and back stage Goffman came up with is very interesting to understand in
our daily life. To sum up, front stage is not an improvisation rather a carefully crafted
representation of who we are and what we want others to think about who we are. It is the

An Analysis Of Thomas Hardy s Of The D Urbervilles
Thomas Hardy, a Victorian era poet, and novelist who was influenced by Romanticism, mostly
known for his novels. Hardy was a naturalist, and we can see his realistic outlook on life proved
in his novels such as Tess of the D Urbervilles. The novel first published in 1892, and was met
with a great deal of controversy because of the subject matter. Hardy took issue the sexual
morals of late Victorian England and religious skepticism. And it was enough to shock readers
and get mixed reviews from critics. In Tess of the D Urbervilles, we get an idea in Hardy s sight
about religion, he uses his characters to make observations that can be quite discouraging his
Victorian readers. The novel tells the story of young, rural and innocent girl Tess, who discovers
that she is from noble and ancient family. And her whole life changes to too bad after it. More
precisely, when she meets with her new relative Alec and had been seduced by him. She loses
her purity and give birth of a baby out of marriage, which was unacceptable for the unmarried
women. She knows that after that nothing can be as before. However, she meets with another
man, but it was too late. And none of them can be happy. Some people could think that the
incidents that occur around the Tess and lead to the death of Alec D. and her own imprisonment
and death are the result of her own deeds, pay for sins, but speaking for myself and I assume also
for Hardy it is not quite so. I

Bronze Ceiling
Will women ever break the bronze ceiling? by Maya Rhodan is an article in the September 4,
2017 edition of Time magazine. It is about how the U.S. is trying to change the fact that there is a
very small amount of statues of real, historical women in the United States. The article later talks
about the protest for the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue in Charlottesville, va and how many
places in the U.S. took down Confederate memorials. It says in response to this protest Now a
parallel movement is growing to boost representations of people who have been left out (Rhodan
28). Later in the article, it describes the change in the U.S. regarding the issue that women aren t
generally depicted in statues. It later shows the change happening... Show more content on

I enjoyed reading it, and it was very interesting to me. I agree with the author when she says the
United States needs more statues of females in our cities and towns. Women were important in
history, too! I also think it was well stated when she mentioned that as a country, we should be
sending a message that women played a major role in our nation s history. They are of equal
importance. I can tell in this article that the author is trying to evoke a sense of emotion, patriotism,
and feminism in their readers to get them to agree with her point. It was quite effective, and I do
agree with the author after reading this article. I could tell the author was passionate about the
subject of the article, and the tone of the piece reflected it. I know the author was for this change
because she wrote positively about this movement. I think the author adequately supports her
claims that women need more representation in the U.S. by stating the facts. She gave numbers and
percentages of the actual numbers of statues of historical women in places around the country to
prove that women really aren t represented in the U.S. The author s source is credible regarding the
information for the movement itself, because she got her information from one of the women
heading up this movement, Kanishka

The Mind And Brain Work
One of Smarts main points is that a man is a vast arrangement of physical particles, but not, over
and above this, sensations or state of consciousness. (Pg.584). What I took from this point was that
Smart was trying to express that the mind isn t some sort of thing that exists separate from the brain.
The mindat most exists within the brain but isn t some kind of physical thing or separate existence
within us. I believe that the mind and brain work together and have a connection but they do not
exist as the same thing. If everything were just measurable brain processes we would all act and
feel the exact same way about every experience. We wouldn t use our consciousnessto differ
between what is right or wrong when our brain sees and hears different situations. Take putting
your hand on a burner for example, our brain tells us to put our hand on a burner, and we register
that we are feeling pain and that it is painful but without or consciousness and our mind we wouldn
t register to tell our brains to pull our hand away. Our mind takes experiences we have lived
through to create our consciousness about different situations. Our mind is what makes everyone
unique and our uniqueness is why we can t measure minds in a scientific manner. Our minds are
based on our unique and personal lives.
Smart also believes in the theory of Occam s razor (Pg. 584). Occam s razor (Ockham s razor)
essentially describes that when considering numerous ideas or theories, the one with the

Effects of missing a doctors appointment
Effects of missing a Doctors appointment
No shows are a problem for both doctors and patients.
When a patient misses a doctor/nurse appointment, a follow up or specialist appointment they are
not receiving the care recommended by their doctor/nurse. This could result in the patient
becoming more ill and requiring additional time off work, laying an extra burden on colleagues
and bosses, there is also the risk of infecting others thus carrying additional burdens as more staff
may require time of work or extra appointments. All of this holds a risk of missing deadlines,
looking unprofessional and potentially disrupting the training of personnel on unit.

As the population ever increases doctors are being over stretched more than ever meaning every
appointment slot is valuable, GP s are then forced to discharged patients that repeatedly offend for
missing appointments which leads to complaints, thus creating more work for the surgery staff and
doctors! Then when the said patient applies to re register at the surgery or applies to register at a
different surgery more man hours are consumed.
On researching and writing about this subject it has become apparent that for the sake of one
missed appointment the effects are detrimental to a lot of factors and services. I do feel that within
the NHS a system should be in place to remind patients of an appointment like a txting service as it
would be a lot more cost effective than a missed appointment, however in the military this is very
unlikely to happen because of restrictions and budgets. A missed appointment in the military is
down to bad administration, deploying last minute, compassionate leave or work/training
commitments, all I feel are sufficient excuses with the exception of bad administration this is a
personal issue that you as an individual should take steps to prevent, by the use of a diary, setting
an alarm on your phone or computer or simply writing it on a board/piece of paper that you will see.
Having missed an appointment

Japanese And Japanese Internment Camps Essay
Japanese Americans were forced to evacuate from coastal areas following the Japanese attack on
Pearl Harbor. A massive amount of Americans who were not of Japanese descent believed that the
Japanese community could not be trusted, so the government felt that it was necessary to remove
them from their homes and place them in camps located away from militarized coastal regions. This
was a controversial decision at the time and still receives criticism today for going against typical
American constitutional values centering around citizen s unalienable rights. Through the research
of many letters written during Japanese internment or reflecting on the event, it seems that Japanese
Americans of that time period had mixed feelings about being relocated and the majority of the
community was upset that they were viewed and treated differently than other Americans but did
acknowledge that the overall treatment they received at camp was fair. Japanese Internment camps
were psychologically damaging to Japanese Americans due to the racist nature of selective forced
evacuation, and the Japanese community was more upset about being removed from their homes
than how they were treated at camp. The U.S. government was very purposeful in their goal to
make the process of internment seem to be as fair as possible to the Japanese Americans that were
being relocated. Thomas C. Clark, alien control coordinator at the time, was quoted saying we are

Debate On Newsworthy Debate
Newsworthy Debate Within My Program of Study:
STEM and/or Liberal Arts
TerГ© Fowler Chapman

When I first went to college I was seventeen years old with a knack for writing, an investment in
history through story telling, and curious about group dynamics, psychology, and sociology. When
I was seventeen these weren t the words I used to describe my interests in continuing education and
because of this I remember scanning through majors that didn t fit all my interests simultaneously.
For a moment, Liberal Arts caught my eye as it gave me the freedom to explore my own identity.
However, upon sharing this out loud with those in my mesosystem the underlying message of

Liberal Education isn t focused on the political aspect of liberalism, however focuses on liberating
its students by giving students space to explore their passions deeply. This exploration cannot
happen in an education program that is built off of individualism and its exclusivity must
constantly be challenged. As Cronon states, We should remember the powerful class and gender
biases that were built into this vision of freedom. The free man who studied the Liberal Arts were
male aristocrats; these specialized bodies of knowledge were status markers that set them apart
from unfree serfs and peasants, as well as from the members of other vulgar and ignoble classes.
Our modern sense of Liberal Education has expanded from this medieval foundation to include a
greater range of human talents and a much more inclusive number of human beings, holding out at
least the dream that everyone might someday be liberated by an education that stands in the service
of human freedom (Olejarz, 2017). Liberal Education isn t about mastering a particular subject.
Instead Liberal Education is about mastering positive characteristics that foster a deeper sense of
personal identity and cultivate human freedom. When the debate between STEM and Liberal
Education arise the underlying impression of those that support segregating the importance of these
two focuses challenge that Liberal

Comparing The Book Cruel And Unusual
Do you enjoy crime solving books? The book Cruel and Unusual by Patricia Cornwell was

Hey there. We were just listening to Pink Floyd s Another Brick in the Wall, Part II, album The
Wall. Too bad it didn t come out a few years earlier, like, say, 1974 when The Chocolate War was
published. We think Jerry (our hero) and the guys at Trinity high schoolmight have liked it. The
song totally makes us think of the novel s villainous Brother Leon, who tortures kids with his
sarcasm, manipulation, and his teacher s pointer at every turn.
Which brings us to why you might care about The Chocolate War. Maybe you ve had some
teachers like the kind Pink Floyd sings about in this and other songs. The Chocolate War shows how
hard this is on students (as if you didn t already know), but also what this type of school situation
teaches the students experiencing it. According to this novel, it teaches things like how to use
violence, intimidation, and manipulation. It turns kids against each other and creates a really sick
overall environment.
But, you probably already knew that. The important thing about this novel is that somebody (our
hero Jerry) tries to change things by saying No, by refusing to go along and do what he s told.

us, the readers, to decide whether taking a stand is worth

Theme Of Following One s Dream In The Alchemist
The Idea of Following One s Dream as Presented in Paulo Coelho s The Alchemist Many say that
the pen is mightier than the sword, but what is often overlooked is the sheer amount of influence
that words can have. However, in order to spread one s ideas through speech with the capacity to
impact the lives of individuals and the world itself, one must be skilled in doing so. At a glance, it
is clear for one to see that Paulo Coelhos The Alchemist defines itself as a thought provoking novel
which explores its central theme in a comprehensive manner with the help of dialogue between its
characters. In essence, Coelho s extensive use of dialogue in The Alchemist effectively expresses
the novel s fundamental theme that one s desire to follow one s dreamis not only vital to living life
to the fullest of its potential but it is also considered an individual s destiny. The author utilizes
dialogue between characters such as the alchemist, the old gypsy woman and Santiago, in order to
fully convey the theme.
Firstly, one of the most repetitive yet critical methods in which the author models the theme of the
necessity to follow one s dream, is through religion. Sufis in Western Society: Global Networking
and Locality acknowledges this fact and uses The Alchemist s implementation of religion to analyze
Sufi poetry. During many instance in the novel, characters mention a so called universal language .

Summary Of Dr. Heidegger s Experiment By Nathaniel Hawthorne
People like to reflect on the past. Some enjoy it, and take pleasure in what they had
accomplished and done. Others look back in misery, and wish they could change it. However, in
both cases, some may long for it to come back. This may be because they want to be there again
where it was perfect in their eyes, or to change it, because their past is full of regret. One of these
instances is the four old friends from the short story Dr. Heidegger s Experiment by Nathaniel
Hawthorne. The four, Mr. Medbourne, Colonel Killigrew, Mr. Gascoigne, and Widow Wycherly,
all had terrible pasts, and had extreme desire to go back in time to fix it, which they almost did.
The four want to change their past, and this brings about the theme of it is impossible to change
it. When the four enter the Doctor s house, they are introduced to the reader as, They were all
melancholy old creatures, who had been unfortunate in life, and whose greatest misfortune it was
that they were not long ago in their graves. Through this quote Hawthorne is pointing out they
were all failures in life. They all wished they were dead, their lives so wasted and dreary. This
shows their longing to change their past. They had been unfortunate in life, and the fact they
wanted to take the elixir to be young again shows they want to fix that. The narrator also points out,

this one is focusing on our own group history. It s easier to focus on one topic with your group, it
is more difficult to work on a group project about your group. In the meeting we spent a majority
of the time working on the different questions we would have to ask and how we wanted to go

tasks assigned to them and what would be required to get the project done. It wasn t forced, we
decided on what topics we wanted to focus on collectively. Once we knew our roles and
requirements, it was easier because then we had a partnership. There was a promised task and a
commitment to the goal. Tasks would need to be completed in order to finish the project

because we got more comfortable with one another. And not to mention, some of the stories were

The Evolution Of Modern Cattle Breeding
INTRODUCTION:
Modern cattle breeding increasingly involves the widespread use of advanced reproductive
technologies, including artificial insemination (AI) and multiple ovulation embryo transfer
(MOET), frequently with the germplasm of elite international sires and dams selected through
individual and progeny performance recording schemes. These technologies facilitate the rapid
worldwide multiplication of offspring from elite animals to assist the propagation of genes that
improve milk yield, meat production and other desirable traits. However rapid propagation of
desirable genes is accompanied by simultaneous propagation of genetic mutations that may results
in production losses and animal welfare problems, such as Citrullinaemia. ... Show more content on

Incidence of heterozygotes for citrullinemia has been estimated at less than 0.5% among U.S.
Holsteins cattle.
Harper and co workers have reported citrullinemia in the Friesian cattle breed (Friesian are a breed
of dairy cattle identical to the Holstein breed commonly used in the United States) in Australia.
Bovine citrullinemia was not a useful marker for milk, fat and protein production because 1) the
frequency of the defective allele was low and 2) within family differences was non significant
between normal and heterozygous half sisters (Roger, 1998).
Pathogenesis:
Citrullinemia is an inborn error of metabolism due to a deficiency of the urea cycle enzyme
argininosuccinate synthetase. The affected animals have liver AS mRNA levels at less than 5% of
controls due to a single base pair mutation (Dennis, 1989). This metabolic disorder was first
identified in humans and later in dogs and
Friesian calves (Odalys, 2009). The genetic disorder results in a deficiency in arginino succinate
synthetase, leading to enzymatic disruption of the urea cycle.
Argininosuccinate synthetase (ASS, EC 6.3.4.5) is a urea cycle enzyme which is expressed at high
levels in the liver. The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of citrulline, aspartate, and ATP to yield
argininosuccinate, the immediate precursor of arginine (Husson, 2003). The mutation responsible
for citrullinemia has been characterized as a single base substitution (C T) in exon 5

Directed by Cameron Crowe, the movie Elizabethtown inaccurately portrays the female
character Claire Colburn as a less important self sufficient, intelligent woman and more like an
alluring, fictitious figure sent like a guardian angel to help a troubled man, Drew Baylor the
main character, embrace life s route 60B fork in the road journey. Men are perceptibly inspired
by free spirited women, but it just doesn t make sense that this character played by Kirsten Dunst
as quirky and lovable as she is, could exist solely to save Orlando Bloom from completing his final
dark plan. The trope of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl (MPDG) is a fundamentally sexist one, a
coined phrase by Nathan Rabin in his 2005 review of Elizabethtown, to describe the cheerful,

Religious Allegory In The Film The Seventh Seal
Yuniska Castaneda Joann Falcon ENC1102 12/05/17 The Seventh Seal I. What will happen to
us who want to believe, but cannot? A question that can resonate with a copious amount of us.
The fear of the unknown, fear of a death with no afterlife but also a fear of one with a promise of
possible damnation, fear of death in general. Antinous Block (Max von Sydow) the main
protagonist of the film The Seventh Seal faces this internal dilemma throughout the entirety of
the motion picture with no real resolution found for it. A parallel made to those felt in real life,
deliberately done so by director Ingmar Bergman. The seventh seal is a 1957 Swedish film which
brought Bergman into the limelight with its release in the western world. Everything about
Bergman s work in the late nineteen fifties stupefied American moviegoers everywhere, with its
stunning cinematography and disconcerting imagery full of religious allegories. The seventh
seal was considered Bergman s way of exorcising his theoretical demons, his own personal fear
of death. To Bergman s utter delight and joy, he was not alone with those sentiments. The film
was originally written as a screenplay with the title Painting on Wood , it was later performed at
Sweden s Radio Theatre in 1954. Bergman later changed it to the seventh seal, the title was taken
from the Book of Revelations, an appropriate title considering the timeline of the film. The film is
set in the Middle Ages at a time when the Black death was

Symbols Used To Describe Her Body In The 1920 s
The symbol that Thornton represented and the terminology used to describe her body was
closely tied to the idea of the female body was long established symbol in the English public
sphere, featured in both media and politics. Accounts of Thornton s appearance were almost
identical across the different forms of media. Unlike her blue coated portrayal in the earlier
image, Thornton was said to have been wearing a red worsted jacket and duck trousers . Her
body were described as, of low stature with limbs are very firmly knit together . Her facial features
were regularly labeled as, comely, her eyes are dark and brilliant, and her teeth are extremely white.
Cumulatively, the implications of these descriptions amount to an attractive female in typical sailor
s clothing, whose... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The broadsheet used a combination of both phrases but the Lady s Magazine, while adding that
her eyes were expressive , did not resist a quip at how being aboard the ship changed her
appearance. Stating, for the rest, the description may as well cease, till she has overcome the toils
of the sea , it is as if they were horrified to continue describing the weathering that her appearance
had endured at sea. An emphasis on the changes in her appearance was clear when discussing the
number of times her hands were described in the various medias. The ballad was clear to mark the
transition her hands underwent: With pitch and tar her hands were hard, tho once like velvet soft .
The news articles too frequently commented on Thornton s hands, fetishizing her hands as a mark of

Formal and Ekphrasis Analysis Of The palette of King...
The palette of King Narmer: Formal Analysis
The Palette of King Narmer is a very small, flat 64 centimeters tall, shield shape palette that is
believed to be used for holy ceremonies. Sculpt from smooth leveled siltstone. The siltstone is a
soft yet dim color of gray. Small in scale, the palette is created with numerous intriguingly
beautifully detailed carvings, and illustrations that fully decorate both sides. These detailed
carvings take up most of the negative space of both sides of the foreground, and middleground.
While the negative space is adequately filled with the cared illustrations, the flat composition lacks
true depth of field or deep space.
The top of the palette is garnished with what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The palette of King Narmer is more than simply a work of art. It is a blend of artistic creativity,

The palette of King Narmer: Ekphrasis Analysis
The palette of King Narmer is more than a lucid and exerted aesthetic construction. An engaging,
intriguing composite of shape, color, and form, while delighting the aesthetic senses, this dynamic,
blend of both beauty and symbolism, is able to intimately share a powerful narrative. A dynastic and
dramatic tale of an uncharacteristically chaotic journey of one man s excursion into power, all the

Analyse the poetry of Thomas Hardy
Thomas Hardy is an intriguing and enigmatic poet whose poetic themes deviate from war, nature
and heroism to love, the transience of life and the death of the soul. Though penned some eighty
years ago, the poetry of Thomas Hardy remains remarkably accessible and identifiable to a
modern reader. While some critic s claim that his poetic writing is archaise. His language elegant
but awkward and his work difficult to comprehend, I enjoyed the poetryof Hardy for its diversity of
themes, its earthly realism and his descriptive and metaphorical language. I identified and
empathised with his poetry of loveand loss, change and decay. Whether he is describing the

Repetition, particularly of the word Lyonnesse , and rhyme contribute to the musical quality of the
poem.
There is a contrast between the narrator s demeanour at the outset and the demeanour of the poet
upon return from his journey. Hardy captures the sense of transformation as a result of falling in
love. While initially feeling only lonesomeness , the poet returned with magic in my eyes . This
line is significant as it is another reference to a childlike, dream like world, perhaps depicting that
the feeling is make believe or artificial, much like a child s fantasy world. The transforming nature
of love and happiness is reinforced in the final lines. The transformation is so immense that All

Written ten days after the sinking of the Titanic on her maiden voyage with the loss of 1513
lives, the Convergence of the Twain was initially written for a gala in aid of the Titanic Disaster
Fund. Essentially, The Convergence of the Twain is a social commentary and social critique of
human vanity and pride of life which were expressed in the opulent style of the ship s
construction. While the loss of the titanic was a very human tragedy and despite the fact that two
of Hardy s friends were among the dead, Hardy appears less concerned with lamenting or

The Sex Lives Of Cannibals Summary
Several thousand miles away from the out stretched borders of the United States lies the island
republic of Kiribati. Stretching along the equator, Kiribati consists of 33 atolls, which are ring
shaped coral reefs or islands that surround a body of water called a lagoon. With a total land mass
equivalent to Baltimore, Kiribati boasts a population of around 80,000 people scattered across its
21 inhabited islands. Tarawa is the capital of Kiribati and where the story, ultimately, begins. J.
Maarten Troost s adventure to the islandatoll of Tarawa is told within the pages of his book, The
Sex Lives of Cannibals. Misadventures galore, Troost describes his existence on Tarawa during a
two year journey that is laced with episodes of culture shock and acculturation. As previously

Marines. Many remnants of the fight still reside on Tarawa. Reefs are polluted with the rusting
carcasses of ships and planes, abandoned bunkers are used as toilets and trash receptacles, and old
antiaircraft guns are used for hanging laundry (Troost, 2004). Another example of American
influence on Tarawa stems from the mere pittance that the United States paid for fishing rights
around Kiribati. Regardless of the amount paid by the US and other countries very little
benefitted the locals of the islands being drained of their natural resources. The outcome was
dishonesty and incompetence by a government that misused funds and oppressed its own citizens.
The residents now have a serious problem with diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure due to
their local diet being replaced by food imported by the U.S.A. What Western culture sees as a
helping hand can actually be a devastating blow to the more steady, traditional way of

Sandwich Generation Research Paper
The Sandwich Generation Feeling the Squeeze
Multigenerational caregiving is on the rise. As life expectancies continue to go up and couples
choose to have children later in life and often support them after the age of 18. Many baby
boomer(s) are now balancing dual caregiving responsibilities and have been labeled the sandwich
generation. How does the sandwich generation balance caregiving responsibilities for two
completely opposite age groups? The sandwich generation is a generation of families on the rise
that are required to confront the varied burdens of raising children and caring for elderly parents,
often having to face the damaging effects to their lives including stress, anxiety, financial problems,
time lost from work, loss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maintaining control of their debt now becomes of the utmost importance as they would need to
stay clear of as much new debt as possible. They may need to reassess their planned retirement date
and the amount of savings they were planning to amass for retirement. The sandwich generation
should remember that their children s financial needs should come first as the children have no
one else to depend on and no financial resources to pull from. But the sandwich generation should
also remember not to sacrifice their retirement savings in lieu of their children s college education
fund. This way at least the sandwich generation will not have to ask their children to help pay their
bills when they retire, repeating the cycle. This does then put them in the situation where the child
may need to move back home after college. Student loan payments can be significant and it would
be understandable that with the mounting bills, it would be difficult to live on their own. If an
adult child has to live at home, they should be made to contribute both monetarily and with

Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis
Chapter 2 Vendor Evaluation and Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis 2.1 Vendor Evaluation
Supplier or vendor selection decisions are complicated by the fact that various criteria must be
considered in decisions making process. The analysis of criteria for selection and measuring the
performance of suppliers has been the focus of many scientists and purchasing practitioners since
1960s. The majority of research about supplier selection problem mentions Dickson s study [9]. It is
based on a questionnaire sent to 273 purchasing agents and managers selected from the membership
list of the National Association of Purchasing Managers, which include agents and managers from
the United States and Canada. Dickson s study describes the importance of 23 criteria for supplier
selection which are classified with respect to their importance observed in the beginning of the
sixties. At that time, the most significant criteria are quality of the product, the on time delivery, the
performance history of the supplier and the warranty policy used by the supplier. Table 2.1 Dickson

Experience As Depicted In James Paul Gee s Analysis
Knowledge obtained from texts and teachers contain flaws in several respects. Unless it is
enriched by wisdom gained from experience, it can sometimes be deceitful. Be that as it may, the
knowledge texts contain is important and based on experience. Understanding how experience
affects a person s daily activities is important in the sense that experience is the basis of people s
thought processes. Experience is useful and valuable in intelligence only obtainable by those who
live through the experience itself.
In James Paul Gee s text Literacy, Discourse, and Linguistics, Gee discusses what Discourses are
and how they are ways of being in the world: they are forms of life which integrate words, acts,

that are established early in life through socialization from family and peers. Any Discourses
obtained after are considered secondary Discourses. The two types of secondary Discourses are
known are dominant and nondominant Discourse. Gee argues that the distinction among them
is that dominant Discourses are taken in because they help acquire social value, whether it be
monetary or prestige, while non dominant Discourses, may be centered around the person s
value in connection with their network. This heavily relates to the experienced that one gains
from their lifetime. Depending how one chooses to gain experience, their Discourse, or identity
will be adjusted. For example, those who enjoy hiking and rock climbing may choose a
Discourse that is outdoors like and free mannered. I find it interesting and agree with his notions
of the different types of Discourses, however I disagree with his idea that a failure in mastering a
discourse results in reverting to one s primary discourse or identifying with another secondary
discourse. I believe that if one fails to master a discourse, that discourse will still leave a
significant mark on one s identity, partially altering their previous discourse. This notion relates
specifically to Gee s reference of creolization. He uses partial language mastery as an example, but
from my personal experience, I have combined the Discourse of Peruvian culture engrossed with
my American culture, even though I am not entirely proficient in the Spanish

Article Titled Personal Critical Reaction to the Case for...
Part 1 Personal Critical Reaction Conspiracy to commit murder is one of the most difficult things
to prove without a reasonable doubt and because the prosecution was aware that the case for
murder against the former Sheriff, Dorsey was based upon a conspiracy charge the course of
action for the prosecution was relatively clear. They had to somehow convince a jury that Dorsey
had recruited the four other men, Patrick Cuffy, Paul Skyers, Melvin Walker and David Ramsey
with the express intent of killing Derwin Brown. The reason that these types of murder charges are
fundamentally difficult to prosecute lies in the fact that if the recruiter/master mind behind the
event is ultimately successful on the first attempt to obtain an assassin, there rarely anyone, other
than the actual killer(s) to testify that the mastermind in fact ordered and also likely made some
sort of compensation for the act on the part of the assassin(s). In this case the prosecution proved
to this jury using the testimony of, Patrick Cuffy, Paul Skyers, two of the admitted assassins, on
immunity deals to provide evidence against Dorsey. The ethical dilemma is then the immunity
deals offered to Cuffy and Skyers. The dilemma is fascinating as these sorts of immunity deals, in
the case of murder are relatively rare, as most people feel that the actual doer of the crime, is as
guilty or more guilty than the mastermind behind it, as that individual(s) has the ultimate decision
making as to whether the crime

The String Theory
Sub atomic particles, known as quarks, electrons, photons, and neutrinos were strewn across
expanding space. Equal amounts of matter and antimatter particles began to collide and annihilate
each other. Gravity, strong and weak nuclear forces, and electromagnetic forces soon came into
play. As the universe started to cool, fundamental particles called quarks began to smash together
forming protons and neutrons. They, in turn, merged to create the nuclei of simple elements,
beginning with hydrogen, helium, and lithium. This primordial soup contained the building blocks
for everything in the universe. VoilГ, the universe was born.
Matter and energy continued to expand. Static electricity and gravity brought the expanding matter
together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strings would also give rise to the forces of nature: gravity, strong and weak nuclear forces, and
electromagnetism. Atoms contain protons that produce a positive charge, neutrons that produce a
neutral charge, and electrons that produce a negative charge. According to the theory, electrons and
quarks, which make up protons and neutrons, were produced by minuscule, one dimensional,
randomly behaving, vibrating strings of energy. A property of matter or force of nature would be
the result when the strings vibrate and interact with each other.
Not so fast, physicists filled blackboard after blackboard with mathematical equations to prove that
the theory was consistent with the force of gravity. Did not happen. A theory had to be established
that was compatible with the gravitational forces in the enormous universe and the microscopic
world. The modified theory had to include quantum gravity, a high frequency, string vibration that
would produce a graviton. A graviton is responsible for curving surrounding space. The Super
String Theory soon replaced the Not so super String Theory. Particle/wave duality of matter and
energy on the quantum level joined the mix, boson/fermion partnerships known as supersymmetry
brought the wine, quantum gravity served the hors d oeuvres, and the Mother of all parties got

Diversity Of A New Rocket Ship
The topic of diversity is an ever growing discussion to encourage inclusion of different people,
cultures, and backgrounds into the global marketplace. In my issue paper, I will explore the idea
of diversity, its benefits, and how it can be included within key sectors of the business world.
Diversity is an important factor to the business place that allows employees and customers to
interact with companies that value their background as an essential part of their business plan
company culture. There are a myriad of benefits that diversity brings can bring to a company but
most of my readings reflected on three main ideas of driving innovation, bettering recruitment, and
capturing the global market. Diversity of race, gender, and social view can increase innovation
and creativity. How does diversity do this? When different people are brought together to complete
a task or solve a problem, they are bringing different information, perspective, and opinions. The
need for diversity of expertise is obvious: the building of a new rocket ship requires the expertise of
designers, engineers, and quality control experts. But informational diversity brings unique
dimensions and experiences to thinking through a task. Oftentimes being with those that are similar
to us can lead us to think that we hold the same details and information or share the same
perspective, which hinders creativity and innovation. Being in diverse groups can lead us to asking
more questions and more

Nasa Presentation
Nasa project Presentation Overall I think are presentation was good the reason why I think that is.
Are presentation was about the apollo missions one through eleven and what each objective was for
each mission. Each mission was an important role for nasa because they learned many things like
the mistakes they made and the new things they discovered throughout the missions. It s fascinating
how much they were able to achieve in a short period of time.
The apollo missions were like steps for the next mission. The goal at the end was to get the first
man on the moon. It took in total 6 apollo missions to be able to get a man on the moon and back.
The apollo missions where a great achievement for mankind and the united states. Getting a man on
the moon meant that we could go to so many other planets and not just the moon.
Are presentation also went into a little bit of detail on how the race began to the moon against the
other countries including the US and Russia. At the time of the race to the moon, the US and
Russia were in the middle of a cold war at the same time. What started it was the tension with

we were wanting to do flash cards but we did not have enough time to. I would have to say the
apollo missions are a very important to mankind because how important it was knowing that we

Epistemological Knowing
The purpose of this study is to determine the combined relationship between connected knowing
(CK), separate knowing (SK), and epistemological beliefs with student s academic performance.
These variables look at understanding how students acquire knowledge and their attitudes towards
thinking and learning. As mentioned in the study done by Schommer Aikins and Easter (2006) this
study would provide future benefit to how students are being taught along with how to manage
their time while studying. In addition, this study could result in students acquiring better study
habits earlier on, data collected from Wood and Kardash (2003) study showed that there was a large
difference between the level of education in the participants and their level of epistemic cognition,
which means that if students were to increase their level of epistemological thinking earlier on in
their college career through workshops or seminars that taught them this way of thinking,
theoretically student s study habits and learning habits would improve significantly throughout
their time in college.
In the Schommer Aikins and Easter (2006) study they examine multiple relationships between the
ways of knowing, epistemological beliefs and variables related to academic performance. Within
the study they examined the relationship between two ways of knowing which are connected and
separate knowing with epistemological beliefs which focused on specific variables such as the
structure and stability of knowledge,

Target opened its first Canadian stores in March 2013, and at its peak, Target Canada had 133 stores. However, the expansion into Canada was beset with problems, including supply chain issues that resulted in stores with aisles of empty shelves and higher than expected retail prices. Target Canada racked up losses of $2.1 billion in its short life, and the store s botched expansion was characterized by the Canadian and US media as a spectacular failure, an unmitigated, disaster and a gold standard case study in what retailers should not attempt to do when they enter a new market. • 5. Summary Of The School By Donald Barthelge The question, ...is death that which gives meaning to life? is more than just a question being asked in the short story The School by Donald Barthelme, it is a question asked by many throughout life (Barthelme 2). In the short story The School , where a series of unfortunate events are happening around an elementary school, it begins with something less tragic from a failed school project, to something dreadful with the death of two students. The author of the story, Donald Barthelme, addresses the issues of life and death through this, and with the conflict of The School not only does it teach us to accept death, but also to be responsible with life and to be courageous. The short storyis centered on an elementary school and is narrated by a teacher named Edgar . The narrator discusses and talks about the series of tragedies happening around the school in a conversational manner as if he is story telling or talking about it to us. The way the narrator speaks captures the reader s attention, which makes the reader feel like part of the story. The story is set up with the least tragic event coming first, and then it builds up to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Death without reason makes people frightened, just as how the narrator was frightened. The point that Barthelme is illustrating here is that we should just be courageous and face our fears. The request from the children for the teacher to make love with the teaching assistant seems to be a quest for the opposite of death, an attempt to find that which gives meaning to life (Barthelme 2). The teacher, feeling just as frightened as the kids, took on the responsibility to be courageous and grants the students their request, allowing the children to hope for better times and future happiness. In this instance, the possibility of prosperity arrives in the form of the new gerbil (Barthelme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Description Of The Botanical Boat Trip Botanical Boat Trip In the middle of the urban wilderness lies a more natural one, the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. There, people can walk through an enchanted forest just a short drive from their home. I arrived at the gatehouse to this wonderland ten minutes before I was due to embark. The road was surrounded on either side by a thick forest of trees that blocked out most of the noise from the airport and busy road outside, making me feel like I could be a thousand miles from civilization. The cool wind and overcast sky seemed to be warning me of some approaching rain, leading me to wonder if the boat would even go out. After parking in front of a low, stone building, I passed through two sets of glass doors to arrive behind the building, followed the path out back down a series of stone steps, stopped in front of the boat dock, and greeted the crew. The young bearded man shivering in his Virginia Tech hoodie and shorts asked us, How s it going? I will be your tour guide. My name is Michael, and my shipmate is Terry. We ask that you sit in the back to keep the motor under the waves. The business focused pilot got right to his station in the pilot s chair. My sister accompanied me, and soon our last shipmate of the day arrived. Only three of us attended the boat tour that day. The threat of rain seemed to frighten off other guests leaving the park empty and peaceful, but I pushed on, wanting to reach the lake outside the garden and take in its magnificent view. As we ... • 10. The First Stage Of The Consumer Decision Process The first stage of the consumer decision process is need/problem recognition. Most people who are looking for a diet see a need to please themselves and need change physically. When looking at a diet consumers are looking for something that is functional and can change them. The marketers can influence my decision by initially being perceived as something that I need. Information is the next step in deciding what to get based on the consumer s needs. Internal and external information will be put in to play when deciding where to head next. Internal information is present information and comes from previous experiences. External information is what someone finds when looking for a solution for their needs. Both types of information can be used to market positively and negatively. Marketers can do everything they can to have their product be put in a good light. When consumers look externally markets can give reasons why it s worth a consumer s time to use their product with little to no risk. With all information available it s time to make a decision. Decision can be hard to make depending on the needs of a consumer. There are criteria involved in making a decision and depending on if the product fits the criteria will determine if it will be purchased. The determining attributes are the features most important to the consumer. If the consumer is in need of premade meals compared to making their own that will play a large effect in the decision. KLHL3 is mainly expressed in the cerebellum and the distal collecting tubule in the kidneys (3). is Though expressed in the KLHL3 proteinhas a N terminal BTB domain, a C terminal that has Ketch like repeats, and a BACK domain, forming a conformation that is a bladed beta propeller structure (1). The protein produced by this geneis part of a complex (E3 ubiquitin ligase), which functions to indicate damaged and additional proteins by labelling these with ubiquitin, which is the tag later recognized by proteasomes for breakdown (4). This labelling is possible with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mutations for KLHL3 that cause disease all involve missense mutations, resulting in a different amino acid, again noting the inability to interact with substrates (7). One mutation, for example, resulted in a cytosine to thymine nucleotide change at codon 410, changing from a serine to a leucine amino acid. This change in polarity, moving from a polar to nonpolar amino acid, disrupts regular formation of the E3 complex, not allowing for ubiquitin attachment. These missense mutations often inhibit the ability of the KLHL3 protein to form the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, and so this prevents the normal function of identifying extraneous and damaged proteins, resulting in an excess of WNK4, due to no protein degradation as a result of the inability to tag these excess proteins. This inability to form the complex in some mutations is a result of the cluster of serine residues that were affected by the mutation, building up on the propeller domains, disrupting interactions with substrate and/or altering protein structure, though it is more common to see one or the other (6). This leads to high blood pressure, due to no control over WNK4 concentrations in the blood. It was commented on that the majority of mutations affected the ability of the KLHL3 to associate with the rest of the complex, therefore unable to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Goods or services generally taxed through sin tax policy have some common characteristics including inelastic demand, promote behavior that is harmful to the individual, and promote behavior that is harmful to others. (Lorenzi, Sin Taxes 60) Goods or services targeted by sin taxes have an inelastic demand because they are generally habitual, addictive, or highly pleasurable. When the second wave occurs after 2 3 months of birth there is a gradual increase in testosterone levels, the neonatal cell population during this time frame is a mix of mature well developed Leydig cells and smaller ones (52). These cells possess well developed steroidogenic machinery expressing both the LH receptor and key steroidogenic enzymes such as 3ОІHSD, P450scc, P450c17 required for androgen synthesis (53). The neonatal androgen surge is believed to play a role in imprinting various cell types in the prostate, hypothalamus, genetalia and kidney, in such a way they respond appropriately to androgen stimulation during adulthood (54). The Leydig cells then regress and testis remain dormant until puberty (55). Following a prolonged childhood period of steroidogenic quiescence, the hypothalamus generates a pulse of GnRH around the 12th year (56). The onset GnRH typically occurs at night and is due in part to the gradual decline in nocturnal melatonin secretion from the pineal gland (56). This GnRH triggers release of the pituitary gonadotropin LH that ultimately stimulates the Leydig cells to grow in number and size, whilst also maturing and differentiating to ... Natural observations in a lab environment recorded children s tendency to choose gender specific, non gender specific or neutral toys. While recent research looking into the structure of the family on children s gender development has found some results indicating no difference between homosexual and heterosexual families (Chan, Rayboy, Patterson, 1998; Patterson, 1992), most studies have found that homosexual family structures account for lower gender stereotyped behaviours (Flaks, Ficher, Masterpasqua Joseph, 1995; Goldberg, Kashy, Smith, 2012; Suftin, Fulcher, Bowles Patterson, 2008). With this discrepancy in the research, further exploration into the gender differences of children from gay , lesbian and heterosexual families will help understand the effects of socialization on gender development and how to better promote the wellbeing and cognitive, social and personal development of children. Gender Development Children s gender development begins almost as soon as children can talk (Serbin, Powlishta, Gulko, 1993). With the early age of gender development, children s toy choice and play behaviours have been found to be efficient ways of measuring gender stereotypes. Many studies have found that males and females are more likely to engage in gender typed behaviours during periods of play (Cherney Dempsey, 2010). Recent research is beginning to see this as a problem and recognizes gender flexibility as more positive for children s development. An article ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main aspect of his work is called Dramaturgical Approach , where the root word is drama. Goffman in his book essentially said that the world is a stage to lay the foundation of Goffman s assertions about how we act and interact in social settings. Goffman says that the human are active and knowledgeable being and human are not passive creature to waiting around to things that happens to us. This people might have the grasp on which we are. But in the end, they are not privy on how we truly behave in the backstage region. Consequently, the concept of front stage and back stage Goffman came up with is very interesting to understand in our daily life. To sum up, front stage is not an improvisation rather a carefully crafted representation of who we are and what we want others to think about who we are. It is the manipulation of the audience by the actor. On the other hand, the back stage is where we practice all of those techniques which we are going to manipulate other people. What I took from this point was that Smart was trying to express that the mind isn t some sort of thing that exists separate from the brain. The mindat most exists within the brain but isn t some kind of physical thing or separate existence within us. I believe that the mind and brain work together and have a connection but they do not exist as the same thing. If everything were just measurable brain processes we would all act and feel the exact same way about every experience. We wouldn t use our consciousnessto differ between what is right or wrong when our brain sees and hears different situations. Take putting your hand on a burner for example, our brain tells us to put our hand on a burner, and we register that we are feeling pain and that it is painful but without or consciousness and our mind we wouldn t register to tell our brains to pull our hand away. Our mind takes experiences we have lived through to create our consciousness about different situations. Our mind is what makes everyone unique and our uniqueness is why we can t measure minds in a scientific manner. Our minds are based on our unique and personal lives. A massive amount of Americans who were not of Japanese descent believed that the Japanese community could not be trusted, so the government felt that it was necessary to remove them from their homes and place them in camps located away from militarized coastal regions. This was a controversial decision at the time and still receives criticism today for going against typical American constitutional values centering around citizen s unalienable rights. Through the research of many letters written during Japanese internment or reflecting on the event, it seems that Japanese Americans of that time period had mixed feelings about being relocated and the majority of the community was upset that they were viewed and treated differently than other Americans but did acknowledge that the overall treatment they received at camp was fair. Japanese Internment camps were psychologically damaging to Japanese Americans due to the racist nature of selective forced evacuation, and the Japanese community was more upset about being removed from their homes than how they were treated at camp. We were just listening to Pink Floyd s Another Brick in the Wall, Part II, album The Wall. Too bad it didn t come out a few years earlier, like, say, 1974 when The Chocolate War was published. We think Jerry (our hero) and the guys at Trinity high schoolmight have liked it. The song totally makes us think of the novel s villainous Brother Leon, who tortures kids with his sarcasm, manipulation, and his teacher s pointer at every turn. Which brings us to why you might care about The Chocolate War. Maybe you ve had some teachers like the kind Pink Floyd sings about in this and other songs. The Chocolate War shows how hard this is on students (as if you didn t already know), but also what this type of school situation teaches the students experiencing it. According to this novel, it teaches things like how to use violence, intimidation, and manipulation. It turns kids against each other and creates a really sick overall environment. But, you probably already knew that. The important thing about this novel is that somebody (our hero Jerry) tries to change things by saying No, by refusing to go along and do what he s told. Not to give anything away, but this doesn t work out all that well for him. The novel leaves it to us, the readers, to decide whether taking a stand is worth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theme Of Following One s Dream In The Alchemist The Idea of Following One s Dream as Presented in Paulo Coelho s The Alchemist Many say that the pen is mightier than the sword, but what is often overlooked is the sheer amount of influence that words can have. However, in order to spread one s ideas through speech with the capacity to impact the lives of individuals and the world itself, one must be skilled in doing so. At a glance, it is clear for one to see that Paulo Coelhos The Alchemist defines itself as a thought provoking novel which explores its central theme in a comprehensive manner with the help of dialogue between its characters. In essence, Coelho s extensive use of dialogue in The Alchemist effectively expresses the novel s fundamental theme that one s desire to follow one s dreamis not only vital to living life to the fullest of its potential but it is also considered an individual s destiny. The author utilizes dialogue between characters such as the alchemist, the old gypsy woman and Santiago, in order to fully convey the theme. Firstly, one of the most repetitive yet critical methods in which the author models the theme of the necessity to follow one s dream, is through religion. Sufis in Western Society: Global Networking and Locality acknowledges this fact and uses The Alchemist s implementation of religion to analyze Sufi poetry. • 33. Summary Of Dr. Heidegger s Experiment By Nathaniel Hawthorne People like to reflect on the past. Some enjoy it, and take pleasure in what they had accomplished and done. Others look back in misery, and wish they could change it. However, in both cases, some may long for it to come back. This may be because they want to be there again where it was perfect in their eyes, or to change it, because their past is full of regret. One of these instances is the four old friends from the short story Dr. Heidegger s Experiment by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The four, Mr. Medbourne, Colonel Killigrew, Mr. Gascoigne, and Widow Wycherly, all had terrible pasts, and had extreme desire to go back in time to fix it, which they almost did. The four want to change their past, and this brings about the theme of it is impossible to change it. When the four enter the Doctor s house, they are introduced to the reader as, They were all melancholy old creatures, who had been unfortunate in life, and whose greatest misfortune it was that they were not long ago in their graves. Through this quote Hawthorne is pointing out they were all failures in life. They all wished they were dead, their lives so wasted and dreary. This shows their longing to change their past. They had been unfortunate in life, and the fact they wanted to take the elixir to be young again shows they want to fix that. The narrator also points out, And, before... The Evolution Of Modern Cattle Breeding INTRODUCTION: Modern cattle breeding increasingly involves the widespread use of advanced reproductive technologies, including artificial insemination (AI) and multiple ovulation embryo transfer (MOET), frequently with the germplasm of elite international sires and dams selected through individual and progeny performance recording schemes. These technologies facilitate the rapid worldwide multiplication of offspring from elite animals to assist the propagation of genes that improve milk yield, meat production and other desirable traits. However rapid propagation of desirable genes is accompanied by simultaneous propagation of genetic mutations that may results in production losses and animal welfare problems, such as Citrullinaemia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Incidence of heterozygotes for citrullinemia has been estimated at less than 0.5% among U.S. Holsteins cattle. Harper and co workers have reported citrullinemia in the Friesian cattle breed (Friesian are a breed of dairy cattle identical to the Holstein breed commonly used in the United States) in Australia. Bovine citrullinemia was not a useful marker for milk, fat and protein production because 1) the frequency of the defective allele was low and 2) within family differences was non significant between normal and heterozygous half sisters (Roger, 1998). Pathogenesis: Citrullinemia is an inborn error of metabolism due to a deficiency of the urea cycle enzyme argininosuccinate synthetase. The affected animals have liver AS mRNA levels at less than 5% of controls due to a single base pair mutation (Dennis, 1989). This metabolic disorder was first identified in humans and later in dogs and Friesian calves (Odalys, 2009). The genetic disorder results in a deficiency in arginino succinate synthetase, leading to enzymatic disruption of the urea cycle. Argininosuccinate synthetase (ASS, EC 6.3.4.5) is a urea cycle enzyme which is expressed at high levels in the liver. The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of citrulline, aspartate, and ATP to yield argininosuccinate, the immediate precursor of arginine (Husson, 2003). Unless it is enriched by wisdom gained from experience, it can sometimes be deceitful. Be that as it may, the knowledge texts contain is important and based on experience. Understanding how experience affects a person s daily activities is important in the sense that experience is the basis of people s thought processes. Experience is useful and valuable in intelligence only obtainable by those who live through the experience itself. The two types of secondary Discourses are known are dominant and nondominant Discourse. Gee argues that the distinction among them is that dominant Discourses are taken in because they help acquire social value, whether it be monetary or prestige, while non dominant Discourses, may be centered around the person s value in connection with their network. This heavily relates to the experienced that one gains from their lifetime. Depending how one chooses to gain experience, their Discourse, or identity will be adjusted. For example, those who enjoy hiking and rock climbing may choose a Discourse that is outdoors like and free mannered. I find it interesting and agree with his notions of the different types of Discourses, however I disagree with his idea that a failure in mastering a discourse results in reverting to one s primary discourse or identifying with another secondary discourse. I believe that if one fails to master a discourse, that discourse will still leave a significant mark on one s identity, partially altering their previous discourse. This notion relates specifically to Gee s reference of creolization. He uses partial language mastery as an example, but from my personal experience, I have combined the Discourse of Peruvian culture engrossed with my American culture, even though I am not entirely proficient in the Spanish ... • 49. Article Titled Personal Critical Reaction to the Case for... Part 1 Personal Critical Reaction Conspiracy to commit murder is one of the most difficult things to prove without a reasonable doubt and because the prosecution was aware that the case for murder against the former Sheriff, Dorsey was based upon a conspiracy charge the course of action for the prosecution was relatively clear. They had to somehow convince a jury that Dorsey had recruited the four other men, Patrick Cuffy, Paul Skyers, Melvin Walker and David Ramsey with the express intent of killing Derwin Brown. The reason that these types of murder charges are fundamentally difficult to prosecute lies in the fact that if the recruiter/master mind behind the event is ultimately successful on the first attempt to obtain an assassin, there rarely anyone, other than the actual killer(s) to testify that the mastermind in fact ordered and also likely made some sort of compensation for the act on the part of the assassin(s). In this case the prosecution proved to this jury using the testimony of, Patrick Cuffy, Paul Skyers, two of the admitted assassins, on immunity deals to provide evidence against Dorsey. The ethical dilemma is then the immunity deals offered to Cuffy and Skyers. The dilemma is fascinating as these sorts of immunity deals, in the case of murder are relatively rare, as most people feel that the actual doer of the crime, is as guilty or more guilty than the mastermind behind it, as that individual(s) has the ultimate decision making as to whether the crime ... • 50. The String Theory Sub atomic particles, known as quarks, electrons, photons, and neutrinos were strewn across expanding space. Equal amounts of matter and antimatter particles began to collide and annihilate each other. Gravity, strong and weak nuclear forces, and electromagnetic forces soon came into play. As the universe started to cool, fundamental particles called quarks began to smash together forming protons and neutrons. They, in turn, merged to create the nuclei of simple elements, beginning with hydrogen, helium, and lithium. This primordial soup contained the building blocks for everything in the universe. VoilГ, the universe was born. Matter and energy continued to expand. Static electricity and gravity brought the expanding matter together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strings would also give rise to the forces of nature: gravity, strong and weak nuclear forces, and electromagnetism. Atoms contain protons that produce a positive charge, neutrons that produce a neutral charge, and electrons that produce a negative charge. According to the theory, electrons and quarks, which make up protons and neutrons, were produced by minuscule, one dimensional, randomly behaving, vibrating strings of energy. A property of matter or force of nature would be the result when the strings vibrate and interact with each other. Not so fast, physicists filled blackboard after blackboard with mathematical equations to prove that the theory was consistent with the force of gravity. Did not happen. A theory had to be established that was compatible with the gravitational forces in the enormous universe and the microscopic world. The modified theory had to include quantum gravity, a high frequency, string vibration that would produce a graviton. A graviton is responsible for curving surrounding space. The Super String Theory soon replaced the Not so super String Theory. Particle/wave duality of matter and energy on the quantum level joined the mix, boson/fermion partnerships known as supersymmetry brought the wine, quantum gravity served the hors d oeuvres, and the Mother of all parties got underway. • 51. Diversity Of A New Rocket Ship The topic of diversity is an ever growing discussion to encourage inclusion of different people, cultures, and backgrounds into the global marketplace. In my issue paper, I will explore the idea of diversity, its benefits, and how it can be included within key sectors of the business world. Diversity is an important factor to the business place that allows employees and customers to interact with companies that value their background as an essential part of their business plan company culture. There are a myriad of benefits that diversity brings can bring to a company but most of my readings reflected on three main ideas of driving innovation, bettering recruitment, and capturing the global market. Diversity of race, gender, and social view can increase innovation and creativity. How does diversity do this? When different people are brought together to complete a task or solve a problem, they are bringing different information, perspective, and opinions. The need for diversity of expertise is obvious: the building of a new rocket ship requires the expertise of designers, engineers, and quality control experts. But informational diversity brings unique dimensions and experiences to thinking through a task. Oftentimes being with those that are similar to us can lead us to think that we hold the same details and information or share the same perspective, which hinders creativity and innovation. Being in diverse groups can lead us to asking more questions and more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Nasa Presentation Nasa project Presentation Overall I think are presentation was good the reason why I think that is. Are presentation was about the apollo missions one through eleven and what each objective was for each mission. Each mission was an important role for nasa because they learned many things like the mistakes they made and the new things they discovered throughout the missions. It s fascinating how much they were able to achieve in a short period of time. The apollo missions were like steps for the next mission. The goal at the end was to get the first man on the moon. It took in total 6 apollo missions to be able to get a man on the moon and back. The apollo missions where a great achievement for mankind and the united states. Getting a man on the moon meant that we could go to so many other planets and not just the moon. Are presentation also went into a little bit of detail on how the race began to the moon against the other countries including the US and Russia. At the time of the race to the moon, the US and Russia were in the middle of a cold war at the same time. What started it was the tension with Russia and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When we presented we mainly only talked about the missions of apollo and the goal of each mission. We didn t really talk about the background of each mission like who was on the mission and what was achieved and the small little thighs like that which we failed to explain. I think if we had just a little bit more time we would be able to present all this information because we were wanting to do flash cards but we did not have enough time to. I would have to say the apollo missions are a very important to mankind because how important it was knowing that we could actually go to another planet and be able to be able to live on the plant and maybe one day discovering new life forms that could be just like us or very different from ... • 53. Epistemological Knowing The purpose of this study is to determine the combined relationship between connected knowing (CK), separate knowing (SK), and epistemological beliefs with student s academic performance. These variables look at understanding how students acquire knowledge and their attitudes towards thinking and learning. As mentioned in the study done by Schommer Aikins and Easter (2006) this study would provide future benefit to how students are being taught along with how to manage their time while studying. In addition, this study could result in students acquiring better study habits earlier on, data collected from Wood and Kardash (2003) study showed that there was a large difference between the level of education in the participants and their level of epistemic cognition, which means that if students were to increase their level of epistemological thinking earlier on in their college career through workshops or seminars that taught them this way of thinking, theoretically student s study habits and learning habits would improve significantly throughout their time in college. In the Schommer Aikins and Easter (2006) study they examine multiple relationships between the ways of knowing, epistemological beliefs and variables related to academic performance. Within the study they examined the relationship between two ways of knowing which are connected and separate knowing with epistemological beliefs which focused on specific variables such as the structure and stability of knowledge, ...
